Comments of Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery

Oooh! If you like chocolate and ice cream this is the place! The choices in the shop is almost overwhelming (in a good way) there are just so many things to choose from! We tried the cafe and the food was very good and generous. Definitely try the scones and the real hot chocolate. The vanilla scones where huge and came with a generous amount of cream and jam. The service was a tad slow and there is a bit of a wait on the food (we ordered drinks and scones) but there were a lot of people so it is understandable. Try to get a seat either outside or by the window if possible, the views of the hills and vineyards are lovely.

A massive facility with a working chocolate factory inside. We were amazed on our visit on Monday to find 7 people making chocolate and all sorts of chocolate treats! There is a large range of ice creams with the standard kind of flavours you would see. Nothing too out of the ordinary. We had apple pie and salted caramel ice creams and both were nice. There is also a massive cafe with pasties and a gorgeous vista over the nearby countryside.

Love the chocolate & Ice Creamery experience. Definitely recommend to enjoy, Brunch/Lunch at the cafe. Specially "Taste of the Valley", delicious shared plate. "Sundae Magical Unicorn" desert better to share with. Can't wait to go back.. I love it..

Beautiful view. Heaps of variety of chocolate. Very good place for family trip especially if you have little kids.

First time back here since 2019, and the quality and experience haven't skipped a beat. Very cheerful and helpful staff, well prepared delicious food menu, and just visiting the chocolate emporium itself is as exciting as ever. Incredibly wide range of offerings and styles for all budgets, huge scoop portions at the ice cream bar, and plenty of space in the wonderful parkland to soak in the glorious Yarra Valley surrounds.

love this place and always a joy to visit !! it was pretty busy today and after an hour of waiting for our food, it turns out they had actually lost our order docket. but the staff were super apologetic and sweet about it and let us pick some cakes to take home for free, and sent out our meals as quickly as they could once they realised! 💛💛 the specialty waffles were delicious, especially with the mascarpone! thanks so much!! ☀️🍦

Lovely creamy chocolates with loads of variety. I like their Kitchen Garden range of chocolates, mixing common garden herbs and ingredients you wouldn't think of adding to chocolates but tastes really good.
I enjoyed their chocolate making class which started with sampling a range of chocolates they sold, all so delicious. The class itself involved combining your own ingredients/toppings to either milk, dark or white chocolate.
Their ice cream is good too...I remember their Sensational Sundaes as the main highlight for me when I visited a number of years back.

Chocolatarie's are always a fun little outing for the family. Yarra Valley Chocolaterie has beautiful surrounding lands and views, delicious food and very well presented.
B. P.
Has wheelchair access
Lovely sight if people making chocolate (they didn’t look happy though)
Lovely view
Over $100 for 4 adults and 2 children for snacks 🤨 food tastings in the shop were plentiful though which was lovely and staff there very friendly 😊 to.
I wish they had a playground that was a chocolate wonderland.
J. W.
This has to be the most amazing chocolate shop I have visited. Huge, and something for everyone. Really generous ice-cream servings (chocolate sorbet OMG, and apple pie ice cream was great). Loved the DIY choc fondeau ceramic gift sets. Put this on the destination list!
d. m.
Loved their white chocolate. It’s the best I ever had. Heaps of variety. Must visit place.
R. G.
It's a great place, well worth a visit, especially if you're a chocoholic like me. I would have given it 5 stars, but they were out of stock of L-shaped chocolate on their A-Z shelf, which I wanted for my son Luka's birthday. Sorry! 😁🍫
D. R.
Way too much sugar in a very gorgeous part of the world.
Kids and chocoholics alike will love.
Highly recommend.
J. C.
Signature chocolate to consume or offer. The cafe offers meals, brunches and deserts that generous in sizes and tasty. Special mention to the waffles and scones!
Outside there is a large area where kids can play in the orchard with a trail at the bottom of the hill where lamas, sheep and cows are resting in a large grassland area.
As of July 2021, due to sanitary restrictions, the wait time can be extensive.
Warmly recommended

Best ice cream I’ve ever had. I could not even eat supermarket ice cream anymore since I had one here. I took my girlfriend here on our first date, she even started to sing a song after having the ice cream while enjoying the stunning view of Yarra valley. She is a shy personals don’t normally sing, but this shows how good the ice cream is!
The price for the ice cream is absolutely amazing. Since the ice cream is so fresh due to the high turnover, you can feel the creaminess of the milk going through your tongue like you are in heaven. My favourite chocolates are the ones that you pick 24 chocolate and they’ll arrange beautifully in a box for around 48 dollars. Those flavours could not be find anywhere in the supermarket and must try them! Very family friendly place with great facilities like parking, cafe and toilet.
If you don’t know where to go on a weekend, this is should be on your list! Took so many of my family and friends here and all had an amazing time.
It’s a great place to shop gifts as well as all chocolates are nicely packaged.
Make sure to arrive early during the holiday period as the parking would be quite challenging during peak hours!
B. A.
Definitely worth checking out, feels like Willy Wonkas and makes you feel like a kid again. Go early to avoid the crowds and be prepared to spend the most you ever have on chocolate. Also does ice cream and coffee.
A.
Amazing location for chocoholics, ice cream lovers and anyone with a sweet tooth really.
They have a vast range of chocolates, Truffles, nougats, herbal teas and associated products like body scrubs, lip balms, fondant kits, gifts, etc. It's all very well packaged and presented. The ice creams and shakes are very good too.
The staff are amazing and very patient with the constant stream of visitors.
The location is a little offbeat but well worth the drive. The scenery more than makes up for it. There is ample parking and the place can take a good number of visitors so, inspite of many adults and children visiting, it did not feel too busy when we went.
The restaurant has a good selection of hot foods to complement the range.
The only point worth noting is everything is premium priced so you might want to go in with a budget in mind.
D. F.
day trip to the Yarra valley and we always stop here... always.. the range of chocolates, the take home products, the gift ideas... if you are a chocolate lover you need to come here... ps the ice creams are also amazing... fyi there are a massive lawn area to grab an ice cream and sit and enjoy the views
S. P.
This was such an amazing experience!
We came in rocky road month and so we had the opportunity to see all of the 31 flavours of rocky road. Taste testing of this was available.
With this Chocolateire doing a clear recent extension, there is so much more room for the shop itself but then also for dining in. There is so much more room and it longer feels as if you are all crammed together.
The menu covers a very wide amount of foods, therefore meaning that there is always going to be something for everyone.
Really friendly staff that are more than willing g to help out and also give you the best experience possible.
So many amazing products that are all so unique. Very good experience!
j. w.
Chocolate was amazing. I especially enjoyed the freeze dried raspberries and strawberries. Restaurant was nice, did a fine prosutto pizza. Price $$.
D. B.
Attractive building. Good COVID-19 protocols. Huge display of chocolates. Even had Vegan varieties we bought as Christmas gifts. Very helpful staff. Enjoyed a (non-chocolate) charcuterie board with locally sourced ingredients in the cafe. Delicious lunch. Spacious, very clean surroundings. Recommended for a visit.
P. R.
Love the vibe of this place....Second time, yummiest icecreams flavours and chocolate heaven....Beautiful Yarravalley view.....The cafe is excellent ,quick seating arrangement and serving even when it was crowded....Love all the different flavours of chocolate we scored from there.....My next 2 weeks are going to be chocolatey .Wish we were near to this place..Anyway no one is going to be disappointed visiting Chocolaterie...
D. W.
Went up during the school holidays and it was packed. Fancy chocolate as far as the eye can see. Cafe out the back with cake and pastries. Sun was out for us to stroll through the property outside with our hot chocolate. Was nice.
L.
AMAZING!!!
We really loved our visit to Yarra Valley Chocolaterie. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, the chocolate samples were very generous as well as super yummo. Seating outside was so relaxing and lovely looking over the orchid and gardens The ice cream serves were extremely generous and the best I've ever tasted !!! We didn't buy from the cafe but they had plenty of variety and everything looked lovely.
We can't wait to go back.
L. L.
I suggest going for morning tea or afternoon snacks or a light lunch. We made the mistake of having a beautiful filling lunch and had no room for the amazing spectacular chocolate inspired treats cakes and deserts. Look out for the Australian grown and made chocolate. If you are planning to visit the cafe/restaurant, It can get very busy. If there is a long wait time, place your order first then check out the gift shop and take turns manning the table.
Z. A.
Went there on Saturday. Beautiful place and delicious ice-cream and chocolates, but perhaps the owner overlooked on the outdoor cafe seating. There's lots of spiderwebs on the corners and walls where we were sitting. Lots of little flies swarming around us while we were sitting there having our coffee. It will be nicer if they have it cleared on a daily basis. Other than that, all is good.
p.
Amazing place with amazing food and amazing chocolate.
Chocolate is competitively priced considering the chocolate made is couverture.
All the gourmet chocolate is intelligently made.
Food is good, but definitely take the opportunity to go on the taste test offer. A small price but with a whole heap of value.
Will I come back again?
For sure.
J. M.
Went on the weekend after new years and it was packed. Lovely to see so many people, but also meant that we wanted to get in and get out. Drinks were great and chocolate was delicious. Worth stopping by on a day trip out that way!
F. H.
Really beautiful area. Kids played outside and we had some food at the dine in cafe. They have good selection of food in the menu. We ordered fish and chips and a brownie platter. I was a bit disappointed with the free tasting Corner. When I read on the website, it seemed to me they would offer at least a dozen types of chocolates for tasting..but there was only 3 flavours: milk, dark n white. It was nothing extraordinary.
But overall a great day trip with my family.
J. B.
Heaven is hard to rate under 5 stars.
The place is incredible, the goodies you can buy are amazing, the cafe area is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy tasty delights and the staff are very nice. My granddaughter loved watching the making of one of those yummy treats (chocolate coated strawberries) and of course her delicious double decker ice-cream.
Definitely worth a trip anytime of the year.
S. O.
Great flavours of ice cream. Tried done interesting ones. Generous servings. Very busy place. Staff are friendly.
Cafe food was good with a nice variety. Beautiful rolling hills scenery.
They do have different flavours at different times of the year so have to keep an eye out
S. C.
The location is beautiful, the view is stunning. It is a very interesting experience to see the Chocolaterie, and the quality of the chocolate is top notch. However I personally think that the factory approach they take removes some of the artisan nature of chocolate truffles.
E. M.
Yes, the place is nice and fashionable…but am I really the only one who thinks the chocolate is far too heavy?! Had to have take-away as dogs are not allowed and we were with our dog.
R. M.
If you by any chance visiting this place, PLEASE don't ever miss to have their JAM !!! It is so unbelievably YUMMY. You can find it in the middle of the shop where they always arrange the Jam together with honey and chutney sauce.
If you like scone, You'll definitely love theirs. The staffs are always nice n friendly and very helpful 🤩
Always looking forward to visit this place again !!
R. K.
it's a nice place to take the kids (although I saw more adults than kids). Some of the chocolates are really good. The only thing that was a little odd was that there was absolutely no social distancing and capacity limit at the time the state has so many cases. I really felt it wasn't safe to stay in the shop even for a short time. a lot people didn't even wear masks.
N. S.
First time I've been out there for years, I love the location and its always worth the drive out. It was a late minute decision but I had a craving for a hot chocolate.
The breakfast was very good and the hot white chocolate was delicious. Already planning my next.
A. S.
Chocolate-lover's heaven! Located on a nice secluded section with great views of the region, and berry plantation around. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You will be spoiled for choices. The milk and white chocolate were too sweet for our liking but the dark chocolate was perfectly balanced. So, we picked all confectionery in dark chocolate. Huge selection of ice-cream too and the servings are gigantic. The restaurant is nice too with stunning views. The food we tried was alright, nothing too exceptional. But overall a great place to try desserts or simply go on a long drive from Melbourne on a rainy day for a hot chocolate. You won't be disappointed.
A.
Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Creamery has a lovely outdoor area. The chocolates are nice with heaps of different flavours. There are some huge 1 kg block or 1 m long chocolate if you are up for a challenge. They also offer free samples of chocolate buttons as you walk into the shop. Enjoy a cup (or two) of gelato on a hot summer day.
A. C.
Great place to visit, cafe has lovely views. The scones were so fluffy and delicious. The extra cup of warm chocolate with drinks is also a bonus! It was too cold of a day for ice-cream but they looked amazing, will definitely come back to visit. The gift shop is also very good.
e.
I've eaten here numerous times and have rarely been disappointed. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. The scones are huge and the house made jam and dollop cream is delicious and plentiful - perfect.
Getting a cup of melted chocolate to add to your hot chocolate as well as the chocolate drops already in the milk, make for a decadent experience and usually with leftover chocolate in the cup that I wrap up and take home, I don't want to waste the chocolatey goodness! :)
I've been here for breakfast and lunch - the Smashed avo was amazing and the lamb pizza and pumpkin pizza were both enjoyable enough.
The Chocolate letters are a fabulous addition to their range and make great birthday/Christmas gifts.
This year I've made 2 online orders. The first took longer than expected - a note on their home page advising of potential delays would have been good and I believe they did update that info. But the products arrived in great condition and were well packed.
My second order arrived more promptly but unfortunately with a couple of items damaged. I contacted them to advise - knowing that it wouldn't have left the showroom that way - and replacements were offered (with apologies) and sent super quickly, arriving in perfect condition.
I'm looking forward to visiting again as soon as the 25km limit is dropped. :)
C. G.
Huge chocolate factory and gift shop, lovely variety. Very friendly staff and delicious ice cream
H. M.
Fish and chips. Frozen fish not fresh. Batter a bit overdone. Far to many chips. No salad dressing!
Ice cream was nice but chocolate one a bit overpowering for me. Couldn't even face looking at the chocolates after it!
The chocolates I saw on the wY in looked very tempting. Should have bought them first!
Great views. Friendly staff.
A. B.
Love this place. Staff are so friendly, and the grounds are beautiful to wander through. There are even a few animals to see if you are lucky 😁
Great place for family, children, elderly and the like.
M. P.
We visited Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm. It was quite busy but we were served a table soon as enter the restaurant. We had chocolate fondue for 2 with milk chocolate. There were lots of treats. We really enjoyed it.
Bought some Easter chocolates for family. All staff were very friendly and lovely attitude.
Bathroom was clean.
We walked around hill area. There were orchard but unfortunately some children ( I guess ) picked some fruits ( limes ) and left on the ground. Please parents, be responsible for your kids and respect the nature.
C. C.
Great place for chocolate and ice cream lovers. My son having a blast at this place. The cafe has great scenery while you enjoying your chocolate and/or ice cream.
M. S.
Amazing products and high quality. Phenomenal view and surrounding site. Rare well designed car park. The store part is incredible but...
The cafe food was poor, although the drinks were great.
Nothing truly engaging which was just a pity.
Advertised samples which were nigh impossible to obtain.
Very difficult to obtain information.
Understaffed to an extent it seemed cruel.
Did not try the classes but everyone I could see in them seemed to be having a great time.
t. i.
Great place to stop by especially for all the chocolate lovers out there!
S. D.
If in the Yarra Valley a visit to @YarraValleyChocolaterie is a must. Would have liked a scoop of ice cream but after a 3 course lunch @TokarEstate I inspected the various chocolates on offer and came away with these delicious, hand crafted beauties that were amazing and so flavoursome! I also got a bag of mocha chocolate. Chocolate lover's dream!

We came here with a group of 11 people on a busy Sunday, the shop was very well stocked despite being so busy and they did well to accommodate our big group without a booking. We got coffees which were standard and a fondue which was a sweet lovers dream or overkill for someone who doesn’t like sweets (but went well with a coffee).
s. c.
Good place to take the kids. Really busy on the weekends as can imagine. If you go inside we found out they were giving a more generous serving on the day. Price is reasonable for 2 scoops.
D. M. I.
I always stop here whenever I go to the yarra valley! These truffles are so good! 🔥
J. L.
Great place for family, couple or friends to hang around! Too many choices of chocolates. Lemon, lime and myrtle sounds like an interesting flavor. Last time I heard it was a soap name!
E. Z.
We absolutely love this place!!!
From the chocolate samples to the workshops to the open window chocolate making....we can't fault this wonderful place. We are like real Charlie's in a chocolate factory haha!
Today we visited for the Rocky Road festival which we attended a tasting class.
The class consisted of 4 delicious steps.
1. Salted Caramel Macadamia Hot Choc
2. Seven Rocky Road Samples: Turkish Delight Trio, Cranberry Gin Fizz, Spiced Trail, Caramel Obsession, Bush Tucker, Bluey Rocks & Neapolitan
3. Baileys Bliss Ice Cream
4. Your own Rocky Road creation
We we're in CHOCOLATE HEAVEN after completing the 4 steps. All for the value of $20 but I say priceless!
Karen our wonderful leader was AMAZING!!! She was passionate, fun & informative, thank you!!
We will be back for more again soon!
D. P.
Great selection of locally made chocolates.
Food was nice but milkshakes, dare I say too milky... milkshake lovers will know what I mean.
I should add that the staff were lovely, always polite.
Did I mention the great range of chocolates.
Nice gardens and country views.
On the Saturday afternoon we attended. About a 20 minute wait in line to enter the shop and another 30 mins to get a table to eat in.
S. D.
Open plan setting with indoor and outdoor seating areas. Decent choice of food options. Lots of dessert options including ice creams. Shearer(lamb) pizza was yummy.
R. K.
Humongous! That's what my first reaction was.
There is chocolate everywhere in every form.
From edibles to lip balms, you name it.
Chocolate tasting, cafe, ice creams, events, parties and what not!
Super colorful place. Kids will love it. They have play space and coloring activity.
So many ice cream flavors, one can't decide just one.
There are gift hampers for Easter. Options are unlimited. Coffee cups and merchandise are also available.
And the view, it's just WOW!
Overlooking luscious greenery and beautiful hilly area.
A tiny walking trail leading to a mesmerizing lake. This place is a must visit. You are not leaving without bags full of stuff.
I can go on, but this place deserves a visit to know exactly what it is.
B. B.
The most amazing place. Always with delicious meals, drinks and chocolate. My children attended the junior chocolateir session today. What a hit! They made 3 amazing creations and also came away with an apron and hat of their own. Such a great price for it too!
S. H.
Fantastic destination to take a hungry grandson!!! The menu included many tempting dishes. Watching the chocolates being made, free tastings and huge variety to choose from for purchase. Superb views to soak in while devouring delicious icecream our final indulgence 😉
L. S.
Great for the family! Great for a sugar rush! Beautiful scenery! I got some from a chocolaterie in the Yarra Valley. We went halfies on the chocolates. My favourite was the marshmallow but it would have been better if we got the dark chocolate. We also had strawberry delight and a passion fruit punch chocolate(which was the best flavour of the 2) jugs also got a dark nut and dried fruit circle, the dark chocolate was good quality and covered in cranberry and nuts.
A. B.
Always luv taking my boys, this time my husband came because he wasn't working for once 😁💜
N. L.
Well worth the visit. Great place to have a meal and to shop. Good food and drinks, great tasting chocolates. If you're on holiday and you need to buy presents for friends and relatives back home, this is a good place to visit chocolates galore. Kids will love this place especially with the see through glass to the factory and free chocolate samples. The grounds are also beautiful for photos. I took plenty - check them out.
S. A.
We always love comin to this place when we're in Yarra Valley. The view is phenomenal. So picturesque. We always bring our guests here when we can.
A. C.
Beautiful venue in the Yarra Valley. Plenty of parking, though it does get full when it's a nice day or a weekend.
I visited during the brownie festival and I was pretty impressed. They were significantly cut down on seating due to COVID-19, but their on location booking system worked reasonably well, and we got a table for 2 people within 15 minutes. The factory is still available to watch production.
Their menu is not horrifically priced as you might expect for the Yarra Valley, though it's not cheap. The eggs and bacon brunch was pretty good, the bacon tasted cheap but presentation and other ingredients were nice.
The reason for my 5 stars? Those brownies were amazing. My eyes were far bigger than my stomach and I had to take almost half home, but the selection and range, as well as taste was genuinely impressive. I'd definitely recommend coming for the brownie festival, otherwise it's worth dropping in but not sure I can recommend it as your only activity for the day
D. A.
My gooooooooodness !!! What a heaven! There are some many types of chocolate, candies, truffles, and all sorts of yummy things ! Visited for the first time and was very impressed ! I highly recommend pistachio butter/spread !!!!! I regretted that I only bought one jar back then. Absolutely to die for !
There is a cafe in the chocolaterie. You can pick your chocolate and sit down for a cup of tea or coffee. They also serve light snacks, sandwich I think. We had some lemon ginger kawakawa tea. It made à perfect pair with out selection of truffles we made. I was very impressed with a chocolate flavors there. For example, there were chocolate with lavender, dark chocolate with spiced pepper, chocolate with honey comb and many others. Warning ! The variety if chocolate they offer might kill you ! You will be in existentiel crisis trying to make a right choice! There is no right or wrong choice. Just be prepared to leave a lot of money there and indulge yourself in the chocolate. I cant wait to visit this place again. Ah ! Almost forgot! They make their own ice cream and gelato! Gosh.... add a few kilos after visiting this shop!
R. G.
A paradise for chocolate lovers and sweet teeth. If you're on a diet, stay away. Because I am not on a diet anymore😂 This place = temptation. There's nothing you don't want to buy. Ice cream and milkshakes are amazing and fairly priced, the little praline-chocolate are extremely tasty( the chilli on was my favourite) and the best thing is, that they let you try the chocolate. Yummy.
It is also great that you can chill in the shade of different trees there. They also planted citrus fruits, so it's nice to just walk around and relax.
S. P.
Definitely a must visit. Their ice cream and chocolates taste heavenly delicious. And prices are not high for the quantity. It's set in a quiet country like surrounding. Lots of open space for kids to play around. I will definitely recommend chocolate lip balm and their dark chocolates. And there is ample parking.
A. B.
We visit this place every time we are in the area. The scenic views are amazing and the mouthwatering chocolates are delicious. The waffles, brownies and platters are the best!
A. A.
The truffles variety is huge. Ice creams serving size is too big and not much different from gelato served anywhere else. Visit Cafe for the scenic view
G. W. S.
Very professional and outstanding customer service !!
I've been here several times, but today, 3rd of Jan 22, was IMO one of the busiest day for the business . .
BUT despite all that, the foods are all taste just as great as usual, and amazingly in timely manner !
Amazing real hot choco, refreshing iced real choco, and fulfilling honey combe sundaes . .
Everything about the chicken parma is delicious, perfectly fried fries and salad too . . Man !!
I applaud to all of the floor staff and kitchen hands today because we arrived at 1.40pm and stayed in the outdoor area until 6pm, yet the line outside and inside is neverending until near the closing time at 5pm . . You guys deserve bonuses for today's service alone !
RECOMMENDED !
I. S.
Always loved this place for a sit down meal, ice cream, varieties of chocolate, and the spacious green space for picnic and play. Kids love it too, running around the park and eating ice cream obviously :)
E.
Very touristy but a great range of products, albeit expensive. Great when you want to indulge in some fancy chocolate. Online ordering is straightforward and it’s a good feeling to support an Australian local business. I love the ideas they come up with - as someone who can’t eat nuts - I’ve got a custom rocky road on its way! (Not allergic, just hate the taste of all types of nuts).
L.
Middle of nowhere in the Yarra valley amazing sport for a quick stop or if you are lucky you can dine in the amazing restaurant.
Plenty of chocolate available to choose if you are a chocolate lover from Deli or the shelves especially “Chilli bomb “.
Yummy ice creams and Hot chocolates, Kids will love this place make sure to bring lots of money 😏
R. S.
5 stars just for the customer service offered by Kylie.. she went over and beyond to make sure our family enjoyed the experience there. Thanks for making our day!
P. H.
Lovely staff, really helpful and the place has a very family friendly vibe. The food unfortunately was far from acceptable, burnt chips, overcooked chicken, bland milkshakes. It was disappointing but I couldn’t bring myself to rate any lower because of the lovely serving staff.
M. G.
Nice and relaxing experience!! Many options for everyone.. kids friendly and beautiful views.. The chocolate factory viewing gallery is amazing..
K. M.
Beautiful vista of the countryside and incredible selection of chocolates and gifts. Lovely Cafe also, where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch.
C. T.
one of the best chocolate in Melbourne especially the honeycomb chocolate. We bought 10 bags for ourselves. Tons of different chocolate available from Milk , white to dark. They also have a cafeteria near the end of the shop which serves chocolate. They also have a opened 'factory production line' which you can watch them working.
Y. L.
Good place for families with young children. Food is nice and ice cream
is awesome. Children and adults are both entertained by the chocolate making process viewing. Lots of shopping from big variety of chocolates to exclusive chocolate products such as lotions and soaps. Chocolates are available for tasting too.
W. C.
We drove past it on the way to Healesville Sanctuary and decided to drop in on the way back. The amount of visitors and buses and cars were amazing. The range of chocolates was unbelievable and the displays were great. There was something for everyone and every taste. If you are looking for Xmas gifts this is the place. We had ice cream there and took our chocolates home. And yes there was tastings. Well worth a visit.
R. T.
Gorgeous views. Amazing hot chocolate in vacuum glass cups. Wear some fly repellent if u plan to sit outside in the summer. Features ice creamery and nature trail.
J. M.
I had the ice cream and a chocolate milk shake this was all amazing but a bit pricey. For the ice cream I had the Nutella swirl which tasted like actual Nutella and lemon sorbet was just perfectly sour and sweet.
F. M.
The place was bigger than I expected. It was clean and well presented. Lots of tourists even on a weekday. I cannot imagine what it's like on weekends.
The staff are friendly and very helpful. Not to mention patient.
The restaurant also offers variety of mouth watering food.
The chocolaterie not only provide irresistible variety of chocolates to choose from but has an ice creamy to die for. They did not disappoint with my go to flavours, vanilla and espresso.
I just about died surrounded with the delicious goodies around me.
What makes this place great as well are their toilets!!! I have not seen such clean and well maintained public used toilets.
The drive was worth the visit.
Will definitely visit again despite the agonising long drive.
I must not forget to say, the view is amazing and the ambience is very relaxing.

Best view here love it so much, view are really fantastic. We can view the whole Yarra Valley here. You all can have nice ice-cream and buy chocolate here. At the entrance there is 2 big bowls of free chocolate, white chocolate and black chocolate which need to get by spoon by spoon and can’t take by hand due to hygiene issue.
R. W.
Very cool place with amazing views and a nice cafe.
Can be extremely busy at times and the products are on the more expensive side.
Highly recommend any of the white chocolate products though!
Y. P.
We visited here on a very warm day with temperatures hitting 38’C. Hence we thoroughly enjoyed their “big scooped” ice creams. Ice creams were very fresh and tasty.
Inside they had a huge selection of local chocolates of various types and tastes. Prices were not that bad. You could literally see the chocolate factory next to the shop making lovely chocolates.
K. T.
Enjoy the sweeping views of Yarra Glen while satisfying your taste buds. The ice cream was delectable with many flavours and the serving was huge. The variety of chocolates is just overwhelming. Great place for the kids to hang out as they have kids corner.
F. D. R.
Nice place, lovely atmosphere. Stopped for a meal, it was bellow average. Just avoid the Thai noodle and you will be fine. Very bland with very overcooked prawns. I know, I know, it's a chocolate place, not a Thai restaurant, but it's on the menu.
R. S.
This is one of the best place I ever been in Melbourne. Those who love chocolates it's heaven for them. You can get lots of variety of chocolates which tastes so good. You can even get your body wash body oil on different varieties on chocolates and other fruit flavors. The food and dessert tastes so good as well.
J. S.
We've been there several times and not disappointed even once. Amazing place with wide variety of chocolates to choose from. I like their white chocolate range a lot. Their restaurant is also very nice and the desserts can get you high! :D
P. S.
If you love chocolate or ice cream this is the place to go.
You can taste test the chocolate with free tasting, but to really have the experience it is worth ordering some sensational dessert from the menu. The hot chocolate is great and the ice creams are very good. There is also lots of chocolate items to buy and take with you.
My only complaint is that it is often very busy - but that is just because i is that good.
T. D.
Some of the most delicious chocolate I’ve ever tasted. I wish I had enough room to bring a ton of it back home with me. This is obviously a busy spot, but really worth the visit. You have a wide selection of treats to choose from with a location that’s gorgeous beyond words. The staff are friendly and informed. I can’t wait to share the chocolate with my family when I get home. The ice cream was delicious, with flavours that change. It was really cool to see the chocolatiers hand making the treats. An impressive experience!
T. N.
This is a very popular place on the weekend. It gets very crowded and there's lots of people everywhere but however they managed to keep up with the demand. There is stuff everywhere to help you. The ice cream that is sold here tastes very delicious. The best in Victoria.
L.
We had a delivery due to lockdown and absolutely made my daughter's day, with the Hot Chocolate festival's amazing flavours! The little boxes were fun and opening each one was a delight. Thank you so much. We can't wait to visit in person one day soon.
J. G.
5 stars hands down!! This place was so cool to check out; not only was the factory itself super interesting to see the behind the scenes, the views are incredible! Overlooking vineyard country Victoria was such a wonderful sight to see. We went for the Brownie Festival, and ordered the Tasting Plate for 2 which included their entire range of Brownies (standouts were Pecan, Vegan Avo, and Cookie Dough).
All chocolate is made in house which is why they can get away with their prices... don’t go looking for any deals. Everything is pretty much full-price and quite expensive for chocolate. I’m sure it’s delicious, but nothing really stuck out for me. They have tons of different items, even bath and spa essentials which are chocolate scented.
The café was quite busy, as this was the last weekend of the Brownie Festival, but we were able to get a seat outside in about 15 minutes. So this gave us time to look around. The Tiramisu Waffles were delicious and a great value for the price. Just be mindful the menu is a bit on the pricey side, so definitely not an “every weekend” kind of event. But the café outside was great during the day while the sun was out. Bring a jacket because it does get a little chilly in winter once the sun goes down.
C. M.
Did the rocky road experience for something different- and wasn't it just that! BOTH ladies had so much fun taking us through the history of the chocolate and tasting different types. They love their jobs so much, especially Rachel, who was fantastically energetic and full of character (probably was on a chocolate high tbh).
For $20 per head, we walked away with an ungodly amount of rocky road, as well as a little hot chocolate bomb(?) you melt in hot milk. But the whole experience of making your own, controlling what goes in and how much was so fun.
Writing this makes me miss my rocky road.
T. G.
Perfect place to bring the kids.
You can eat in the cafe or just buy chocolate after taste testing what’s on offer.
Plenty of parking so no issue there.
If the weather is ok it’s worth taking a walk on the property. Great views and animals in the paddocks for kids to pat.
C. P.
If you ever wanted to know how Charlie felt like at the Chocolate factory, all you need to do is visit this place.
You're greeted by the earthy musky aroma of chocolate the moment you step in the door.
Your eyes take a moment to adjust coming from the sunlight and rows upon rows of yummy happiness greets you.
You're spoilt for choice, starting with a help yourself sample of dark, white and milk chocolate drops and you can heap onto your palms.
Tour around and see how their chocolates are made before coming round to a colourful selection of truffles. OMG.
One for the chocolate lovers.

Been visiting YVC for the last 5+ years for its country feel and have seen the place gradually transform over time with a well laid out dine-in area, an ice cream parlour and ample area for kids to play outside on the lush green lawn. In addition to chocolates that this place is well known for, I love the variety of fruit trees that adorn this place - a perfect spot for some family pics, picnic or just reading a book underneath it on a hot day.
Simply superb setting for relaxation, unwinding and spoiling yourself once in a while.
P. M.
Wonderful view, especially from the window when you see inside.Looks like background from windows XP I told my friends.Exactly like that but so much better. Really a good place for family
Food was good. There are many choices to choose from.
Overall good experience though. Service was good, atmosphere was really unique and beautiful.
G. A.
An apt place for chocolate lovers, must visit. Kids will enjoy watching how chocolates are coated and getting ready.
C. C. G.
Chocolates production and for sale. Visitors can enjoy confectionery produce in this place with a cup of black coffee (or long black).
The scenery is also very enlightening as it shows the vast land used to grow grapes, on the background. Very typical for this part of the world or similar northern hemisphere climate where the weather governs planting of these tasty fruits/drink - for wine processing.
Imagine a day out feeling outside, a small shelter/hut to drink a cup of coffee, feel at home. Not forgetting chocolates to go for friends and family, as gifts... attractive wraps (red) and simple colours (white or brown/dark brown), as you enter into the shop.
P. P.
Dropped in here as an escape from the homeward bound weekend traffic as a rest stop. The place is visually enticing nestled on a high vantage point overlooking the valley. We had coffees and several desserts, chocolate brownie, salted caramel eclair, and Jaffa mouse. The staff were friendly and helpful. The toilets were clean. The place was very crowded but there was adequate seating outside with heating. They need some pull through caravan parking. One of the spoons wasn't washed properly so that lost a star. The hot choc sauce is amazing. The desserts were all awesome.
R. K.
Yummy offerings but was uncomfortably busy when we visited. Highly recommend visiting their Cafe on the deck or doing the nature walk
K.
This is a definitive and must try experience when visiting Yarra Valley. The location is so scenic, both exteriorly and interiorly. The exterior features a generous view of the surroinding Yarra Valley with a nearby lakehouse and lake, plus winery shrub like plants scattered around the chocolatery. There is an alfresco dining area with ample seating to appreciate this views in full so highly recommend doing that if the weather permits. There is an open area ideal for kids to play with the chocolatery providing balls for the kids to play with.
Now for the interior! Wow, it's great being able to see the products being made with such a well placed viewing window. Staff look genuinely happy doing their work too. The displays of chocolate products in the store are well put together and the prices are very fair for the quality of chocolate you are getting. I ended up walking away with some milk chocolate pastilles for the work mates.
Meals and beverages are amazing too. Ended up having brunch at the chocolatery and do not regret at the slightest. My smashed avo was lovely, definitely appreciated the twist of beetroot and feta. Very tangy but flavorsome. The famous brownie stole the show though. Their brownies are so well made and moist. Perfect with the ice cream and dipping chocolate provided.
You'd be silly to miss out on this quintessential travel destination if you have ever enjoyed chocolate before in your life. This is a blast for couples and families alike.
K. K.
It is such a nice place to visit but the prices of chocolates are way too much. Paying $7 for 100g choc, I mean where did that chic came from. I have bought chocolate in Geneva cheaper than that. But I will still recommend a visit for the scenery to enjoy.
L. N.
A worthy trip for all. Albeit busy on weekends and holidays, if you visit outside meal times you’re likely to score a seat on the deck overlooking the valley vineyards - a view equally worth as savouring as a hot chocolate or coffee. Tasting stations are a hive of activity, and you can watch chocolates being made through the viewing windows. Sandwiches are ok, pizzas good, but the true winners are obviously the desserts.
K. T.
Excellent customer service, staff helpful. Generous size meals, good value for money. Would like to see a few more vegan options. Chocolate and icecream to die for!
F. V.
It's good people are really nice and frantically serving customers. One thing if you can change is to be conscious and get more staff to man your till when you have 25 people queueing up to order and you have 1 person behind the till and some times another one comes part time.
J. B.
This is a great spot to stop by for a quick coffee/ice-cream, a nice tourist attraction located in the middle of the Yarra Valley and a place that makes great chocolate.
Personally, I’m not a chocolate connoisseur, but the chocolate wasn’t bad. There’s a huge selection of different chocolates and the ice-cream is good. Some flavours are better than others, but they’re all generally good. Just make sure you don’t wear a white shirt like I did...
General entry is free, since it’s pretty much just a store with a cafe. However, they offer chocolate making/testing sessions for pretty good prices, as low as $3. The chocolate isn’t as cheap and not is the ice cream, but I think it’s reasonable for a chocolate manufacturer like this.
There are clean toilets, plenty of parking and the whole place is wheelchair accessible.
h. w.
A Chocolate paradise !
I ll be there again..great place , very helpfull staff..you can enter chocolate tasting session as well. Ice cream was really amazing..my fav ice cream💗
S. K.
Such a lovely place for kids and adults. You will be overwhelmed with the collection of chocolate and ice-cream. Definitely worth visiting from Melbourne on a day trip.
e.
We came here with our dear friend Jean from Dubai. She enjoyed the stack of chocolates in front of her and the ice cream too. Wowwww was all she was able to say. Thus we come here every time we have visiting friends and family either inter-state or overseas.
N.
Been here a few times, mainly for the delicious ice cream but good place to stop buy if you are looking for gifts for friends. Grounds are lovely, very friendly goats (do not feed) but watch out for snakes!
J. a. J.
Cute place with a huge selection of chocolate. Great if you’re a chocolate fanatic and/or if you’re looking for some edible souvenirs. There’s all kinds of chocolate products (truffles, bars, bars with interesting fusions/flavors, spreads, etc.).
This place also has a cafe and sells ice cream. Worth to check out if you’re in the area!
s. b.
In the middle of yarra valley, surrounded by lot of wineries, a nice spot to buy wide variety of chocolates. Including sugar free. They also have chocolates based on the origin of cocoa beans.
N. U.
Must visit this place if you love chocolate. And even if you don’t you can visit here just to have a coffee and enjoy the magnificent surrounding views. Free tastings as per the photo. Can get pretty busy if tour buses arrive!
G. L.
Cakes are both visually appealing and delicious. Cake portion is generous and served with melted chocolate on the side. Great satisfaction!
M. F.
Love the 'real' hot chocolate. The vanilla bean scone was huge with plenty of jam and cream. The ice-cream is delicious. Looks like the cafe has been renovated since we were there last and the meals look fantastic.
P. T.
Don't go here if you are on a diet. There is no way to resist and the icecream portions are over generous.
J. J.
It's an amazing place like something care that the Willy wonka book. Taking it quite busy so it May take your world to get a delicious hot chocolate or ice chocolate As well as with he for other delicious item takes your fancy but it is well-worth the wait.
Make sure you bring plenty of pocket money because there is going to be quite the amount and of chocolate items that are going to sneak into your basket.
S. W.
Situated near the wineries , recommended to come as part of your visit to this area. Pricing is however slightly higher and the chocolates are not exactly fantastic tasting. I've had better ones at such price. Overall a very touristy place.
K. Y. C.
A scenic place to have fun, rejuvenate and learn more about artisan chocolate. The place is situated on a small hill that is surrounded by many fruit trees, lake and farm animals. Suitable for couples, families and elder people.
M.
Everyone was really friendly. Such a wide range of chocolates, including 100% Australian cocoa and indigenous ingredients. Wish dogs and picnics were allowed though.
K.
Amazing! What's not to love about this place. Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate 😁 such a large and amazing selection of different chocolates there something for everyone. It was extremely busy when we want but one of the ladies went out of her way to help us to find what we wanted. Thank you 😎👍
S. T.
Fantastic experience here..this place lives up to the excitement that builds up as a tourist. Huge variety of chocolates and truffles, honey, tea and cocoa butter and lotions. If only there ice creams could be less sweet and fee chocolates have wierd taste like aniseed.. it could be 5*
a. f.
It's always a nice visit here but was much nicer today as it wasn't as busy as it usually is. The weather was lovely and the chocolate is always nice. Was happy to be able to enjoy a not so busy day. ❤️
C. R.
Visited the chocolatier with the missus. Really nice scenery. There is a lot of parking available. Because it's visited by tourists, there might be buses parked but they have their own parking area within the car park. Parking is free. Near the entrance there is a digital information screen. When you walk further up the path past the information screen, you get a ice-cream serving station. Past this is the main entrance to the chocolate factory and restaurant area. It maybe very busy so if you cannot get a table inside, they have a temporary covered dining area as the establishment is being renovated. Inside, there is another ice-cream serving station near cafe where you can get some nice food. There is a glass window which gives you a view of the chocolate factory in action. There are a few samples to taste plus three types of chocolate buttons to try. This is a bit more expensive than the one in Phillip Island but it has a view that is awesome. Great for anyone to visit. Plenty of space for kids to play. There are signs that "say no dogs, no picnics but lots of fun." There is a notice near the bathrooms (which are located where you buy chocolate) that tells you what's on during June to September at the chocolatier. We ordered a long black and hot chocolate. Both reasonably priced. Also got some chocolate macarons. The drive is also great.
P. H.
Nice place, spacious and you can sit and have your coffee or ice cream with a beautiful view. Would like to be back
A. W.
What is not to like about chocolates. Free chocolate samples greets you the moment you step in. White, dark and milk chocolates for visitors to sample. They also have sorbet, Gelato and ice cream. Try the dark chocolate dairy free chocolate sorbet. Absolutely divine.
They also serve desserts, food and coffee while you take in the sights.
J.
Just visited the chocolate factory. Nice space, lots of parking space. today was weekday and rainy but it was still relatively busy. Love the chocolate ! Nice to be able to watch them do it too.
S. B.
The location is beautiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful and of course the chocolate is the best! The cafe food was very reasonably priced and great quality. Definitely coming back once their new renovated cafe opens! If you get the chance, they have gourmet chocolate tastings for $3 if you don't know what to pick.
T. H.
Great place for your chocolate & ice cream fix. They have an amazing range of chocolates to choose from and everything is exceptionally boxed and packaged which makes it so easy to also buy as gifts. You don't have to make any bookings to get in here but I recommend you get there early in the morning because it is very packed during midday onwards. They are situated on a farm with plenty of open space with beautiful lush green grass for the kids to run around and some cows for the kids to look at. Extremely popular place even with international tourists.
s. s.
Amazing place, lovely staffs, nice view, perfect location, variety of chocolates, yummy ice creams, cafe and cant stop writing more good about this place. you can watch chocolate factory, kids playground, free chocolates and many more with free entry. unfortunately couldn't give thousand stars :P
I. B.
Great food at the restaurant, lovely setting. Gorgeois chocolates everywhere!!
m. t.
Good chocolate but it's been the same range for years... Can be overpriced for a lot of the chocolates...
Ice Cream is bloody awesome though
E. D. S.
Very nice place to visit. Great chocolate and ice cream various flavours. And the outside is really ice with a good walk to see some Lama's, sheep and goats, where kids can pat and feed them.
M. K.
Nice meals. Super friendly staff. Just wished for more variety on menu
R. H.
Good place just 45 min from city. lots of chocolate options to try. Cafe food was below avg. Wasnt impressed. Glorious grounds for kids to run around and play. And finish the day with yummy ice cream.
Z. B.
Its a great place. Loved it. Has free sample.of chocolate coins (small) and in three flavours white, chocolate and dark brown chocolate. They have lots of options in chocolates and have an outside place to sit too. Just the price is a little extra...
M. J.
An amasing and must visit place to enjoy and taste very nice chocolate and have some amasing views nearby. Perfect for kids and family.
D. E.
Love this place staff are friendly, food is great and the shop is full of wonderful gifts. The views are pretty good too 😍
M.
I love this chocolaterie!! There's a spot inside where you watch the staff making the chocolate, they even grow some of their own produce on site and there are so many goodies to treat yourself with. I've even done their chocolate class for adults and it was incredible seeing the entire process of making chocolate and walking out with my own chocolate block, delicious!
Everytime I come near Healsville I make sure I stop by the choclaterie, it's well worth it!
B. D.
If you haven't been, do yourself a favour and make the trip. Great variety of ice cream too!
B. D.
If you like chocolate or ice cream or both, this is the place to be. The views are beautiful. Great place for kids too.
S. T.
The chocolatier is always an amazing place to come with loved ones, children and anyone of any age, staff are always friendly and the chocolate and ice-cream is to die for! But sadly i wish I could say the same today for the food. This was the left over of the peporoni pizza.. an oil filled plate!
Although it tasted okay the extra oil did not. Be careful when ordering it and make sure to say " no side of oil please"
The coffee and the kids fish and chips were lovely.
M. S.
The chocolate pods there are one of the best in Australia. so is their ice cream... the mango and peach was my favvv.. lovely outdoors area with magnificent valley views. Staff were friendly despite it being very busy that weekend.
D. V.
Low rating Purely because this place is crazy with lots of kids and tourists however, the chocolate and the ice cream make it all worthwhile. You should come here but, ensure you brace yourself, find a seat and enjoy the ice cream. Be prepared to spend money. The chocolate is really good.
A. E.
Place is so beautiful and breathtaking. You just feel relax. The restaurant has great food. You just feel drunk on chocolate.
D. C. H.
Chocolate heaven with a nice view of Yarra Valley wineries. There are also lots of chocolate to taste and some more of gourmet chocolate if you are joining a tour. You also get to see the chocolates being made in action.
C. C.
AWESOME!!!! Best place ever to visit if you LOVE chocolate. Ice-creams were delicious, hot chocolates unbelievable tasty. They have a few free samples, so you could taste before buy. Also the views were lovely. And I really like the entrance sign.
M. N.
Lovely place to go and spend the day with family .if you arrive there 1laround 10 ,it gives you plenty of peaceful time before rush hours.
Large variety of delicious chocolates and amazing breakfast🥰
V. B.
Great atmosphere, set in a valley with vineyards surrounding the chocolate factory you can't complain about being there.
D. T.
Great place for families to enjoy chocolates and delicious ice cream. The ice cream servings are huge and there is a big chocolate production line that the children can view chocolates being made from behind a glass window.
H. E.
It's Amazing 😍😯 There are so many delicious chocolates with a different tastes. Entry is free.👍 All visitors can taste free sample chocolates at the beginning.
D. L.
Went to the ice cream festival and wasn't that impressed. They tried to do plenty of new fun flavors but it comes down to the quality of the ice cream. But the chocolates are good and there's an endless supply of chocolate bits which you can taste.
V. P.
Beautiful chocolate factory with scenic views. They offer an abundance of free chocolate samples on entry. You can see them making chocolate by hand. A large array of different types of chocolate as well as smooth and creaky icecream. Tried the dark chocolate icecream and salted caramel icecream and both were so delicious. The views are so stunning with green lush rolling hills and vineyards in view. They even have a small lake. Highly recommend visiting this place if you're in the area.
c. k.
I came here after almost two years and was delighted to see altogether a new expanded place but but my favourite iced coffee n brownies tasted the same 👌🏻
Z. L.
Yarra valley chocolaterie is really delicious it is fun to watch how they make chocolate and all shapes and objects made out of chocolate. I love the chocolate testing at the start and the ice-cream lip balm everything. Definitely visit them.
M. S.
Thanks to Karen yesterday with our chocolate tastings! Very accommodating and service! We had a vegan in our group, and they left some vegan chocolate for us to taste too! She lead us to where the chocolate that we tasted and Karen was very helpful!
Don't diss the Karen name! The Karen who served our tastings was very nice and lovely!
Chocolate was great! So many great options that I've never heard of!
Love the malt choc with honeycomb and the salted caramel and macadamia! Sooooo good! Took some home and got a gift to take home!
There chocolate lip balm and hand cream???? What! Very interesting!
M. C.
I had the pleasure of experiencing high tea at the chocolaterie on the weekend. There was no choice of quality over quantity, as both were outstanding, the selection and taste of the food was brilliant, as well as the friendly service from the team throughout the afternoon. What a wonderful day, I'll definitely be back
A. A.
I know people come here for the chocolate, but I and the kids loved the ice cream
E. G.
Very popular place. Jam pack with crowd over weekend. Definitely a fun place for everyone. Expect long Queue to order, to pay and to be served. Avoid holiday season, parking space is very limited, expect to park on road side.
T.
A must visit when you are in the Yarra Valley.
I also stop off here after a long lunch, and some wine tastings to get an ice cream on the way home. The ice cream here is so creamy and tasty - and the servings are very VERY generous. I had the seasonal gingerbread cookie flavour this time, but I usually go for a chocolate - because it's a chocolaterie.
The chocolate here is very good as well. They have some really interesting flavours that you wouldn't see at your local supermarket - they make really good presents for people overseas. I got fig and fennel seed, passion fruit and mango, and caramelised white. The chocolate is made on site - you can see the factory through the glass window.
Oh yeah, there's free samples! Easily a 5 star.
e. a.
Love the beautiful scenery, very greeny. Really love the ice cream there and it's generous portion. Free chocolate tasting. Dessert & drink options are good, but the food need more variants. No gluten free options at all, so be ready to bring your own food for the one alergic or intolerance to gluten. They don't sell fry food like the easiest french fries. All in all it's a great & beautiful place to relax with friends and family
A. T. Y.
You can find a lot of different types of chocolates around the shop, there's a cafe on one side and on the other side is a glass panel and behind that you will see how the chocolates were made. They also have ice cream with very nice selections.
The staff were friendly. There was someone who introduced a range of chocolate called valley bush tucker that was her favorite and it ended up as my favorite as well.
It was a great experience and i would love to go back. 👍
P. W.
The road drive leading to Yarra Valley from Blackburn is one of the best drives. The customer service is amazing but hard to find the staff as they are short of staff and very busy. Sampling of chocolate wasn’t too bad but it is hard to get the staff again for your sample tasting. Toilets are hard to locate. The scenery from the outside is one of the best one see attached photo. Should visit place 👍
A. m.
One of my best experience in Victoria. Lots of unique tastes that you can’t find anywhere else. I recommend you try the private tasting session as it’ll help you decide which flavour you prefer.
I. W.
Yummy chocolates. Reasonably priced i think. Many varieties of chocolate flavours and varieties available. Gift packs available too, which is good for us tourists. There's a cafe, gelato shop inside the shop. Outside the shop there's a lovely view of yarra valley which is good for photo-taking
H. S.
Very difficult to get a table on the weekends and they don't take bookings. Choc brownie pizza was AMAZING (when I had it in August) super decadent, rich, dense and sweet, but then when I went back in November it was different (picture above) It was missing the extra chocolate on top, and overall just looked more bare. This choc brownie pizza was a let down, however the choc lava cake was DELISH. Best thing I've had in a long time. Cake was soft and centre was rich. The side of ice cream (salted caramel flavour) went along perfectly and I'd definitely recommend that flavour (along with the nutella ice cream flavour). Best part- it comes with a shot of chocolate- THE BEST! The choc lava cake is a must get if you come to the choc factory!
r. c.
During peak summer periods you can’t move in this place! Resent renovations have helped but it still lacks sufficient seating. The grounds are beautiful, chocolate is delicious but quite expensive (the justification being it is all handmade). The window open to the kitchen is a great design feature. While known for their chocolate, the ice cream has substantially increased in its quality. I recommend turkish delight and triple berry and white chocolate!
T. H. P.
Varieties of chocolates for free tasting. They have their unique flavour. Good to buy for gifts. The packing is very nice
J. P.
Icecream was amazing and plenty to choose from including dairy free if your that way inclined.
D. T.
Very crowded but it got very nice ice cream and lots of different types of chocolate related products. Not a bad view from there as well. Hot chocate could be a little bit stronger. Service was excellent considering they are so busy.
A. N.
Very nice and peaceful place and good choice for a family. Also very tasty chocolate with many varieties.
There is big park for kids to play and have fun
G. H.
Great place to visit. Free chocolate! Lots of chocolate to buy. Food is nice too. Don't forget the ice cream. Plenty of outdoor areas for kids to play and for photos.
E. G.
Awesome place to enjoy morning breakfast or lunch. Pretty awesome collection of chocolates. Ample parking. We went for a kid’s birthday party and the experience was great.
S. P.
Visited the Chocolateria after a trip to Healesville sanctuary. We had a 5 year old with us and it’s safe to say he had the time of his life. The place was very busy when we arrived, but we were seated and served fairly quickly. The sun was shining across the cherry trees as we shared chocolate fondu and a fudge sundae. Highly recommend
S. R.
The grounds are beautiful and the view is lovely.
The windows to watching the chocolate being made a very cool but the work benches are pretty far from the windows.
I honestly didn’t know what was going with the other areas though.
The group I was with couldn’t find any signs with directional arrows so we followed the flock.
The ice cream looks amazing, I didn’t end up trying it though because there were huge lines at both counters.
There is no signage or directions what things are and roughly only 3/4 were priced.
The team were friendly but they were run off their feet.
B. C.
It’s heaven for chocolate lovers! Many types of chocolates and unlimited chocolate bites for you to try. Nice ambience and good place for a cup of coffee or chocolate drinks and a scoop of ice cream
D. W.
Excellent chocolate and ice cream, very nice staff. I would highly reccomend the high tea, there is lots of yummy food and they let you take the sweets home when you don't finish. Would highly recommend the hot chocolates as well.
A. F.
Super impressed with the scenery and how beautiful the cherry blossom trees are lined in the parking space! Also lovely selection of homemade ice cream. Nice walk in the chocolate shop and also a big green area to sit back and enjoy the view.
C.
Awesome service and amazing chocolate
A. P.
Lots of chocolate, but it was far too busy when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon as part of a winery tour. There just weren't enough staff in the cafe or main chocolate shop areas to deal with the number of people here - the carpark was chaos, too. Also, more gimmicky than a real chocolate shop, as their highest cocoa %age was just 72% 🙄. Make a 95%+ and then you'll be up there with a proper chocolate shop. I left empty handed and walked outside after 5 minutes because I couldn't deal with the chaos. When I did end up ordering a hot chocolate (from the outdoor cafe out the front), the staff member wasted time chatting to a colleague instead of focussing on serving, so again - long lines as a result. Worth a visit once but only for the novelty factor... expensive for what it is.
a. c.
Amazing chocolates and their brownies are to die for!! You can see how they make their chocolates and shop hundreds of chocolate options. Enjoying the sun with ice cream in such a beautiful place is truly a great experience. You can get yourself a tester of their chocolate once you walked in. I’m not a a fan of their ice cream but you definitely need to try the brownies
M. K.
YARRA VALLEY CHOCOLATERIE | Your Choice | Located an hour away from Melbourne CBD,
Yarra valley chocolaterie is a family friendly environment where you can enjoy a range of different foods including breakfast, lunch, dessert and of course chocolate! 🍫
I visited during their annual Hot Chocolate Festival (in August everyday) where you could try different and unique hot chocolate creations throughout the whole month.
I tried holy churros which was made from cookies and cream,
pineapple juice which was served in a glass shaped pineapple #socute
macaroons very yummy😋
🍟 French fries very crunchy very tasty
Strawberry milkshake totally according to my taste not too sweet just fine 🥰
If you’re a chocolate lover I would definitely recommend to visit 😍😍😍🍫
A. m.
Best chocolate factory with free tasting of their wonderful chocolate bits - dark, white and milk chocolate. Big outdoor space with beautiful scenery.
N. G.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and superb views! Highly recommend this place for a great afternoon out... Its a repeat-worthy venue for sure!
D. D. S.
Nice day out.
Great place to stop over to get some sugar fixed. Lots of chocolate products and range. The cafe was a bit busy time to time.
If you don’t want to get stuck with the tour groups, try to get there just just after the opening time. Then you can spend the rest off the day at wineries.
T. J.
Enjoyed the chocolate tasting, especially the milk choc with fruit and nuts...but, what was really awesome was the fact that as soon as you walk in, you can have spoonfuls of milk, dark, and white chocolate!!! Not to mention that the views are spectacular!
S. T.
Great food
Great views
E. A.
Seems like a nice place to take your kids, huge range and some really nice truffles. They use too much citric acid in their ruby chocolate 🍫
A. W.
Cute goats sit near the fence to pat!! Great staff and vegan options for chocolate too
S. M.
Well maintained place. Staff is friendly you need to book for a class prior to the date of visit usually they are pretty booked. Try and reach early to avoid rush. They have a nice cafe in case you would like to try ice creams and hot chocolates.
M. R.
One of the nicest places to visit for lovers of fine chocolate, food, coffee's and beautiful grounds to enjoy overlooking the yarra valley. Normally very busy on the weekends and after 11am during weekdays with tourists. Really lovely staff who are happy to help.
A. G.
Perfect location but it’s just a chocolate shop. I prefer the Phillip island chocolaterie for better experience ..
R. W.
Thanks YVCI for the prompt delivery. We aren't able to get there due to restrictions and was running out of sweets. Ordered late Monday and got the parcel on Wednesday morning. Happy customer
Y. D. L.
Beautiful scenery. First of all, they have complimentary chocolate once u enter the store. The dark chocolate is my favourite. Chocolate is not very pricey and tastes absolutely delicious.
They offer ice cream with over 20 flavours. As shown in the picture, I picked pistachio and espresso flavours. The espresso was very rich with coffee beans mixed into it. Pistachio had a very strong nutty taste that was really delicious.
Highly recommended to visit this place!
J. S.
Pros -
Great place with awesome views
Enough parking
Chocolate shop was excellent with too much to choose
Cons -
Pathetic food from the restaurant. It took ages to bring food and it was cold when delivered . Fish n chips was horrible in taste.
Pizza was extremely cold
We'll go there again but only to chocolate shop . Never going back to horrible restaurant though
K. S.
The grounds, interior, chocolate, ice cream and other food are all excellent. We went in summer but it would also be a nice destination any time of year. Plenty of car parking, seating and space to walk. The chocolate and ice cream were both great!
A. W.
Off the old Healesville road, this place attracts visitors with its ice cream and chocs, but makes them stay for the views, rolling greens and goats. Pity picnicking is not encouraged here.
J. C.
Been here twice already and it only gets better!
The kids absolutely love their menu and dessert, after that they will run around in the garden. This is definitely a place for families, with or without kids! Visiting once a month wouldn't be too much for us chocolate lovers. Love their bagels! Must try!!!
T.
Awesome collection of chocolates. Food and drinks are equally good. Quite busy on weekends and holidays
A. F.
Anything and everything chocolate! Almost bordering on manic (but in a good way) expect crowds and long lines for the ice cream which didn't really live up to expectations but their chocolate bars are great (milk and hazelnut). They also have a large meadow that borders on a small pond.
S. B.
Such friendly and wonderful service with my online birthday order for my daughter. When pickup became impossible due to lockdown rule changes, I had to alter from pick up to delivery with little hope of the order arriving in time. The staff member I spoke to was very helpful about changing, however said it was so close to the day, it would be day or 2 after the date required. Disappointing but understandable. But it arrived on the day! And it appears that it was hand delivered by the Choclaterie. Such wonderful service. And such a delectable box of goodies to help make a birthday celebration in lockdown a happy occasion ... one delighted daughter! Thankyou
M. G.
A nice additional stop to your Yarra Valley trip... get to see how the chocolates are being made.. or take a tasty spoonful of the chocolates while you browse the many different chocolates...... and before you go make sure you take the time to taste their ice cream.
E. B.
Huge garden for kids play around while eating ice cream . Gets pretty busy but the service is very quick. Lots options of chocolates, cakes cafe inside too . Huge portion of the ice cream !

Loved the Yarra Valley!
m. r.
Very nice place to spend your time with family and friends. Especially, good for kids. I love to be there as there are a fantastic view, a spacious garden to play and delicious ice cream with a variety of flavors.
A. R.
Nothing really special about this place. Good for tasting some flavored chocolates and affordable takeaways. Restaurant is faced to a garden. Plenty of parking available.
S. D.
A great place for the whole family. Delicious food and a decent coffee. So much fun on the grounds surrounding the venue. The shop is expensive but has everything your chocolate heart desires
S. B.
Great short trip from Mel and amazingly relaxing.
Nice place with panaromic natural views, good food with nice service, natural and tasty ice cream all make it a great family outing
A. A.
It's a blissful place for people with 'sweet tooth'. Lots of choices. Staff are nice. They have private tasting too! Really worth the travel.
M. N.
Fabulous, creative range of chocolate, ice cream and cakes. Customer service was very good and even though they get very busy they managed well.
N. M.
Best hot chocolate, I mean who doesn't love real hot chocolate. The beautiful view and gardens made the day so much more special. Worth the trip.
K. -. M.
Good fun place to take the kids. Little pricey and was quite busy when we arrived but worth the experience and quality. Great location for a day trip with the family as many wineries nearby
R.
Very tasty chocolate is available and you can watch the factory from inside. They also do special events such as a hot chocolate month with 31 new flavors. Plenty of parking available in a nice setting. Was extremely busy on the long weekend, though service was good. Plenty of choice of chocolate for average factory prices - easy to spend $100!
A. A.
Wide, coffee, playground, toilet, barbecue areas, beautiful views, plenty of car parks, wild animals and birds, and more
K. R.
Great view all around while enjoying your chocolate, awesome tasting food in the cafeteria. A little bit pricy for items wouldn't bother if you are a chocolate lover.
K. F.
Fantastic views of the Yarra wineries the dairy free ice-cream is divine excellent selection of chocolates my favorite is Melba Lucia there are 24 alcoholic varieties to choose from. Great place to relax and also serve coffee and meals.
I. C.
There is something for everyone to enjoy here whether it be the Chocolates, Ice Creams. A sit down meal at the restaurant with fabulous views of the Yarra Valley and Rangers. Take the kids down to check out the farm animals before you leave.
U. H. T. (. Z.
Lovely place to visit for ice-cream and chocolate lovers. You can enjoy fresh made ice-cream/chocolate with nice scenery around the area.
G.
Excellent chocolate and ice cream, perfect finish to a day of wine tasting. Free chocolate buttons on arrival. All sorts of varieties of chocolate available to purchase. Everything is made on-site. Cafe has lots of amazing cakes. Located on a hilltop with views all around. Worth stopping for a sweet treat!
C. B.
AMAZING! Great lunch food, chocolate heaven and the ice cream is next level. Eat here if you can
T. H. R.
Great place and ice cream. A scoop or two (4.80, 6.80 respectively) be it cup or cone. Just check out their instagrams for that. (Already too many in the internet.)
Feel free to walk around the perimeter and enjoy the short walk while eating your ice cream. Just follow the signs, avoid trespassing and not jump into the dam/ water body in the area.
Inside the building there are free samples for dark, white and milk chocolates. (Please use the spoons and scoop it to your hand for hygiene purposes.)
My thoughts on the chocolate (samples) is that the dark chocolate is more sweet than actual dark chocolate, but more creamier or milkier in exchange. (I'm not a connoisseur) White seemed normal and milk chocolates weren't as sweet like Cadbury's. Milk chocolate here though is milkier to taste compared to the competitor.
If you're interested in inexpensive meals. The food here would be under $20AUD. As at 2 July 2019, Parma, spaghetti, the likes.) Just be aware the there are limited seats. By the time my group entered the place, it was crowded.
C. M.
Fantastic afternoon tea at the Yarra Glen Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery. Fabulous food, great fast service and wonderful surrounds.
M. J.
Perfect scenery with animals if you walk down the hill. Delicious icecream with lots of flavours to choose from. You can watch them make the chocolates inside, nice gift options.
P. K.
Great if you can go in person. Definitely don't bother ordering online. Not insulated for Australian temperatures. Our order arrived with half of it fused together. Short answer from them is: "we take no responsibility for damaged goods".
M. B.
Very nice variety and quality products at reasonable prices for the excellent quality. Kids needed a change of clothes eating ice cream on a warm day! Lol
M. A.
Always a good stop for the family! Loved the raspberry ice cream and the smoothies! And of course the varieties of chocolate!
A. H.
Always love coming here... Food is great, just wish to have bigger serving.
And please try their scones, jams great scones superb !!
R. H.
Coffee and cakes were fine, good selection of chocolate in shop,
H. L.
Good place to try out the varieties of chocolates available and also the ice cream. Lots of surprise tastes. Don't be afraid to ask. Everyone is helpful.
C. J.
Definitely worth a visit -especially if you have friends from interstate. Stacks of choice of chocolates and desserts. Well presented displays. Amazing chocolate sculptures on display. Beautiful surrounds. Also perfect for larger groups. Though can be very crowded.
S. K.
It's something to do, but if you're someone who likes fine chocolate (extra dark, unsweetened, etc) this place is not for you.
N. E.
Amazing chocolate and ice cream, great service and so many things to choose from. Very busy on weekends with families, however plenty of room to sit and enjoy the view over the orchard and to the hills. Well priced for quality products.
B. C.
Love the variety of chocolate 😋. Yummy ice-cream. Friendly service. Beautiful scenery. Multiple events including Easter wonderland, Brownie Festival, Hot Chocolate festival, and Strawberry Affair 🤗.
v. w.
Nice chocolate shop with a huge amount of choices, ice cream is yum and very generous size. Beautiful place and worth a stop over.
R. K.
Amazing place for an afternoon picnic, or just to chill and have ice cream!
They have superb, fresh ice creams, and are extremely generous with their portions as well. Buy your ice cream, sit down and enjoy the scenic view.
They also have a huge chocolate shop, and a cafe as well!
H. M.
Beautiful countryside location with views across the Yarra Valley.
The premises are in pristine condition with lots of friendly, attentive staff in bright uniforms. Very clean toilets!!!
Fantastic range of chocolates in stock with lots of free samples.
Smashed avocado lunch was great and salads were huge, great value for money.
About 1 hour drive from Melbourne, subject to traffic, along a lovely country road experience.
Excellent Sunday drive.
E. B.
The chocolate here is amazing and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable! I would definitely recommend going to a tasting class! I've been to the rocky road tasting class twice now and in it you can try 7 different flavours of rocky road, one ice cream and one hot chocolate flavour! Then you get to make your own rocky road which is so much fun !
k.
I love the free all you can eat chocolates and the macaroons! Prices are a bit expensive but worth the price and the view of the environment was breathtaking.
E. R.
The Yarra Valley Chcolaterie and Ice Creamery is heaven for children and adults alike, who loves Chocolates and Ice Cream. There is a large variety of chocolate flavours to choose from. Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, eclairs, strawberry dipped in Chocolate etc. they also have an open type kitchen, where you can see the staff making the chocolates behind a glass wall, making sure that the chocolates are made on site.
C. S.
Staff were lovely, however, flavours of products didn't parallel other high quality local examples. If you're keen for a very mainstream experience, this place will suit. Otherwise, seek out a more boutique offering - with experience and product quality likely to meet your chocolate and icecream happy place needs!
s. A.
Friendly staff and awesome place to visit. Avoid rainy days / season if you wish to explore the 40 acres of land with orchard. Has ample parking spaces.
A. C.
I had a day trip out to this place and it was totally worth the trip out here. Loved how they gave out free chocolates, which we ended up buying as they were so delicious.
Sitting at their cafe, eating ice cream and coffee was amazing. The view was worth it. This is what holiday should be like!
A. C.
Fantastic spot to round up your day at the Yarra Valley. Kids will love being able to watch the chocolates being made. We went through on a weekday which was great coz the weekends are really busy. The chocolate fondue was spot on and the Tirumisu cake was some of the best I have ever had.
D. J.
The hot chocolate is out of this world and the food is just as amazing. Many different chocolates to buy; the views are phenomenal.
H. R.
A wonderful place to visit for locals and visitors alike. If you love chocolate, this is the first place for you! Their chocolate, mostly made on site, is beautiful. The cafe there serves various chocolate flavoured things, and their hot chocolate is some of the richest I’ve ever tasted. Everything is fairly reasonably priced, too. The setting is lovely, amongst the green fields of the Yarra valley. You can sit outside on the balcony and enjoy the scenery while you eat.
Y. C.
Great place to have some chocolate and sweet beverage, buy buying some chocolate gifts to friends. Not a place for you to visit / learn how chocolate is being made
J. M.
Beautiful place to take the family. The waffles were delish - I personally prefer the classic than the chocolate. Love this place. And love the free samples too!
S. “. h. H.
Beautiful place and view. Lovely place to visit. Staff very friendly, chocolate cheaper and the ice-cream so delicious and cheap price.
K. W. T.
Totally a chocolate and ice cream heaven for everyone. Bought the ice cream with two really big scoops on a tasty cone for just $6.80, really worth it. Honey comb flavour really didn’t disappoint. There was free chocolates for everyone to try and the varieties of chocolate products in the shop were extensive. Totally recommended to come here as you can just lay outside the grasses to enjoy your ice cream if staying indoor ain’t your thing. Parking was kind of limited as it’s always very crowded.
R. K.
Great place for family day out. The chocolates are abit over priced but over all nice place
V. V.
Amazing place. Variety of chocolates available. A good family hangout place.
L. S.
excellent place for entire family.nice food, yummy chocolate, and stunning views. Will come back.
C. E.
I’ve been to the Chocolaterie many times over the last 4 years. The chocolate is yummy. The cafe serves lovely food, and we just love the ice cream. I’ve also been to the great ocean road and Mornington peninsula Chocolaterie’s, I like this one best. And the picturesque landscape is simply breathtaking.
T. M. W. V.
An amazing place for a family fun!! Yummy chocolate!! Love all most all the deserts!! Friendly staff!! A large scoop of ice cream!!
P.
Spectacular views with awesome sweet stuff and a great restaurant. Great chocolates.
C. A.
Best chocolate I've been to highly recommended price is kinda average it's so better then the one in Phillip island
M.
Wide range of different flavours of chocolates, chocolate desserts and ice creams! The view is amazing and you’re able to dine outdoors. You can also see how the chocolates are made from the glass panels.
J. C.
This is a fantastic place to bring children, a brightly coloured wonderland of chocolate goodies. Staff are delightful and most helpful. There are beautiful grounds for running off all the sugar, and a pleasant cafe.
S. B.
Very nice place wonderful service my pizza was burnt other food was good.
I should go back and tell them but me and my family was very hungry we couldn't wait.
D. R.
Open for restricted business - still has all the chocolates you could possibly want boxed up ready. Coffee & ice cream is also available.
I. F.
Great chocolate place with lots of interesting options, ice cream and cafe
k. d.
Tourist attraction. Fun, super crowded and busy. Rug up and be prepared to enjoy the outside gardens, orchards, pond and animals.
A. G.
Great variety of chocolates and ice creams. Must visit spot. Surrounded by greenery this place is worth a visit.
l. D.
Attended the chocolate tasting session that's only available at 10am, 11am and 12pm and it was pretty amazing! Staff there were friendly, attentive and very helpful. Tried the chocolate ice cream and sorbet there and it was really good! Great variety of chocolate and best part is the quality since it's made right here.
j. r.
Range of chocolate is insane here, great ice cream and even a cafe to stop and take in the glorious views
R. G.
Great place, great courses for the children to do. The chocolate selection is mind blowing the variety you could not imagine being in chocolate! The honeycomb is beautiful
S. Y.
Large variety of chocolates, esp Rocky Road. Great tasting and huge portion sizes of ice cream. Beautiful scenery, outside seating is really nice. Highly recommended!
r. c.
Lovely place for a short getaway from city and the views are amazing .
Good place to relax with a nice hot chocolate or coffee ☕
M. W.
Amazing place for chocolate fans. Bring the kids and give them a break from waiting while you taste wine. You'll love the free samples of chocolate (pictured below) and the friendly helpful service. Spend over $100 to receive a complimentary chiller bag.
E. G.
Delicious chocolate, huge choice of chocolate, good food though expensive, and a nice place to be. It can get packed depending on days and time.
J. V. B.
The staff in restaurant were so patient and friendly. They were quite busy today but the food was great 👍 as was the Milkshake and coffee ☕
H. M.
Always love going to the Chocolaterie!! From spooning handfuls of delicious chocolate to buying a range of great treats to eating some yummy treats with generous servings! It's always busy but the staff are great. It's a must do if visiting the Yarra Valley!
M. O. (.
I absolutely love coming here! The great Wall of chocolate is always a favourite, and I highly recommend going during one of their festivals or around the Christmas/Easter period (note - very busy). We booked in a tasting session for the Rocky Road festival recently and couldn't recommend it enough. It didn't cost much at all (less than $20pp) and we got to try a rocky road hot chocolate, different rocky roads, rocky road ice cream, and we got to make our own.
V. L.
Just like walking into Charlie & the Chocolate factory! You even get to watch the pastry chefs making the chocolates.
High quality chocolates and even a decent amount of vegan options.
A. V.
Delicious hand made chocolates, amazing ice cream and staff are always so helpful
D. J.
This was my first time at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery, and although my wife and daughters have been regularly visitors. They have sung it's praises for a while. So I decided to join them for the latest visit. They are right, but the food is amazing 8n taste as well as value, but the highlight of course, is the chocolate... David the range, and the the variety and the taste. Death by Chocolate never seemed so desirable!
R. P.
Nice destination to get gifts and nice views. The kids had fun with the food and chocolates.
K. N.
I do love this place, and love the new menu with hamburgers and chips. The change with regard to waiting to be seated is much better than having to hover over people and pounce on tables when they leave. The jaffa ice cream is my new favourite. Wish I was closer to visit more often. Always spend so much money here. Better that I don't love close
P.
A great place to go with the family. Lots and lots of different chocolates and a great eating area
P. C.
Amazing icecream! Very generous serves too. Lovely outdoor area to enjoy too
A. M.
Brunch delicious! Ambience wonderful! View stunning! Chocolate? Chocolate, wow!
A. M.
Perched on a crest just outside Yarra Glen the Chocolaterie has really captured a relaxed ambient vibe, its the perfect destination even if you dont have a sweet tooth. But if you do then OMG yum..
Do a tour or simply wander and enjoy incredible Chocolate, icecream and the beautiful Yarra Valley setting..
***** Highly Recommend 😊
T.
One of the most popular places in the Yarra Valley. Big car park and bus loads of tourists bring lots of visitors here everyday.
Free samples of chocolates is very popular for kids and adults alike. Plenty of different chocolate and sugary products to choose from.
Staff are friendly and helpful. On site cafe available.
D. H.
Food was great but you need to sell a kidney to afford the chocolate prices.
A. E.
Feels like I am in the wonderland such as beautiful place to visit .
Made my day can not explain how happy I am 🍫🥰
A. D.
If u are chocolate lover you must vist this place
Also dont forget to tast thir delicious chocklets and ice creams
F. P.
We love coming to the chocolaterie and ice creamery. There is so much to look at and enjoy. Definitely stop by the cafe and try something yummy to eat and drink. Don't forget to walk around the grounds to have a look at all the fruit trees.
s. h.
Massive variety of chocolates available. On-site cafe does and amazing big breakfast. The gelatos are delicious too. Great place to visit!
L. S.
Interesting, fun, and a great place for a leisurely ice cream treat outside overlooking the valley.
O. R.
Nice place, delicious chocolate and food, kids will have a lot of fun. Usually crowded in weekends and public holidays
H. G.
The best chocolate produced in amazing and creative ways. Lovely staff.
P. H.
chocolate ice cream was average only, but large portion. their range of candy is too wide for them to plausibly be the best at what they do. some gimmicky stuff like boomerang-shaped chocolate.
J. “. S.
I arrived around 4pm. Not sure if there is a better time to be there but I didn't get the "chocolate making process vibe" that I was expecting. Overall, it is great on chocolate variety and types.
S. S.
Such an amazing place to be. We went for the breakfast and were amazed with the enviornment. And the best part was that there were lots of choclate varieties that you can try and buy as well. Definitely a place to be.
I. Z.
Delicious ice cream and chocolate . Halal , vegan and gluten free Al available.
T. S.
Wonderful place but their fondue was a little disappointing, was expecting more fruits to go with the heavy chocolate and set up more decoratively
K. M.
An awesome stop for chocolate lovers, families or if you just want a nice place to stop for lunch. There's the opportunity to get premium chocolate and watch it being made, as well as to walk or picnic among their fruit trees. The food at the cafe was great, with a nice view to boot. If chocolate isn't your thing, you can always go for their ice cream as well! Fun stop, and definitely worth planning a visit if your passing through.
V. C.
Such deliciousness in all aspects. Friendly staff and amazing views. Great place to relax with a cuppa hot chocolate before a few heavenly purchases.
b. s.
I was expecting more like a “demonstration shop” of how chocolate & gelato is made, but instead only found a normal shelf style shop!
I enjoyed the gelato & the chocolate taste good, but I sadly notice the amount of sugar in the chocolate.
Nice looking place, with a nice view & they have plenty of fruit trees, which makes the view even nicer.
Worth to come once just for gelato tho.
I.
Stopped by and was amazed at how popular it was. Felt like I was the only person that didn't know about this! Great chocolate and the ice cream single scoop is good value.
G. C.
So many choices of chocolate and very yummy ice-cream! We bought a box of 24 premium truffles, but we found there were only 23 in the box when we got home. Hopefully the staff could show the box to the customer at the counter next time.
K.
While the chocolate showroom is always a delight and the staff are always top notch. The lunch (Southern style fried chicken) was less than exciting, rather bland for the price. The bacon and eggs were quite good. So go for the sweets and the breakfast parts of the menu, especially with restrictions lifting because the staff came off a little over whelmed with all the people.
A. K.
Updated as of 28.07.2019
Customer service staff were all nice and very helpful.
Schnitzel and Angus burgers were amazing. Prawn pasta was good too but a little plain.
Can't wait to see the new area in December ^^
D. B.
Great food great place to visit.
Staff were fantastic.
F. G.
What a great family experience. You can watch chocolates being made in the temperature controlled kitchen but there is no explanation of what is being made. Chocolate galore with a mind boggling array of choices. Coffee anybody? Why not have something chocolate to go with it? Our party consisted of three adults and two children. We ordered a chocolate fondue for two. It was more than enough for all of us. In fact there was a struggle to not waste anything and clean the bowl of any chocolate. I think of it as Death by Chocolate. They also have other food items such as traditional style pizza and yes there is a chocolate pizza. You can dine inside the hall or in the outside dining area and all the serving staff seem to be chocaholics themselves. Rest rooms are spacious and clean. Plenty of parking. Oh and by the way there is also an ice creamery which amazingly also serves chocolate ice cream. Worth a visit for an hour or so.
T. C.
Nice place for pit stop. Grab a glass of hot chocolate and enjoy the Cosy place. Great selection of chocolate.
A. B.
I would recommwnd love this place your in chocolate heaven.
If you dine in I would not recommend the hot chocolate way to much of cause if you love large size then go for it.
But we'll worth the trip. Free entry but you tend to spend quite big on chocolate anyway
Lots to see and do young and old.
R. K.
Stars are for location and views. Lovely venue but so crowded. Staff were friendly. The wait was long for our food to arrive and we did have to chase up one of our deserts as it never came. We had to chase staff for cutlery, water and serviettes. Our fondue came without utensils so we had to dip in with our fingers which all became very messy. The hot chocolates and milkshakes were so sickly sweet we ended up leaving most of our drinks behind. The chocolate shop was so expensive and too overwhelming for choice. Staff were pleasant but I wouldnt feel a desperate need to return. We did enjoy a walk around a little pond, and through the fruit trees. The location is perfection. Highly recommend the scones!
S. D.
Great drive up! Beautiful landscape!
There was so much variety of chocolate to choose from and the pricing was expensive but worth what your getting for it.
Didn’t try the ice cream but did have breakfast.
Sadly my The Biggie was cold, the bacon had mostly fat, hash browns were burnt and tasted burnt and my sausage had a hard dry texture to it.
Over all very lovely.
Will definitely pick something different to eat.
J. B.
Always an amazing experience, the chocolate here is the best I’ve ever tasted. Love the tasting sessions during the festivals, both the ice cream tastings and hot chocolate tastings give you a sample of everything on the menu. Cafe has delicious food, the staff are lovely and the scenery is beautiful
S. S.
Lots and lots of chocolate 🍫. Reasonable food choices. Can be more enjoyable if the outdoor sitting area is extended.
A.
Went out to Yarra valley for a day trip and took a visit to the Chocolaterie. Despite its popularity it was worth the drive. Great cafe, friendly staff and delicious treats! The view from the cafe is incredible! I would love to see more about the history of the store and more experiences around it's manufacturing process. But very much enjoyed the large windows to view activities on the manufacturing floor.
T. V.
Very nice place, there are a lot of different types of sweets. It's a bit expensive, but great place to visit.
k. p.
Good quality n variety of chocolates. The cafe in the premises is lovely.
H. N.
We came here in the late afternoon and enjoyed the picturesque view of the rolling hills. The ice cream and chocolate shop were amazing to try, browse and buy gifts.
D. N.
Great place to visit. Views amazing. Lots of chocolates. Perfect for kids.
H. K.
Lovely setting, busy in school holidays. Coffee could have been stronger. The notice said NO peanuts used in chocolate, great, very good for my allergic son, I relaxed and ordered fondue (delicious) ... But I quickly noticed and retrieved PEANUT brittle on the fondue platter... That WAS a potential disaster averted. Please make it VERY very clear that peanut brittle is on fondue platter. Thanks
J. J.
Strawberry festival at the chocolaterie was fantastic plenty of amazing strawberry treats to try and buy.
M. D.
Great for the kids.
Chocolate rather expensive for quality. Coffee was only 5/10
E. S.
This place is set up well for large crowds, which is lucky because I went there on a Sunday morning and it was very busy. Beautiful product displays. It's not cheap, but you don't go there for cheap chocolate. You can watch the chocolate being made through a large window in the shop.
The only downside was that it wasn't clear where to queue or pay for certain items, which was made more difficult by how many people were milling about and shopping.
G. T.
A great place to stop over either for lunch or just a coffee or a hot chocolate. A vast variety of chocolates. Really a place for chocolate lovers. Enjoyed taking a walk outside it's compounds to enjoy the scenery.
s.
Absolutely amazing place. It is definitely a chocolate lovers paradise with beautiful views outside and friendly staff
S. A.
Beautiful and breath taking scenery. The store is packed with fantastic selection of chocolates. The drive from Melbourne is also enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Best place to shop for chocolate, an awesome shopping experience and a cafe with lots of yummy pickings, the ice cream is really creamy
R. G.
Here you'll find one of the largest range of chocolate and chocolate related products anywhere. You can even see chocolate products being made. Single origin chocolates from different parts of the world also available. The restaurant has a wonderful selection of foods, savoury and sweet. Some of the best food I've had anywhere! Great views, beautiful surroundings. The restaurant and chocolate shop are a benefit to each other. I'd go again for the restaurant alone! Enjoyable ambience. Fantastic for a day trip.
D. D.
Very popular place for good reason. Big selection of chocolates and gift ideas and beautiful views of the valley and surrounding vinyards. Choosing a selection of chocolates was made fun with some friendly expert help.
B. V.
Great staff and enjoyed lunch. And off course bought to much chocolate
K. R.
Lovely experience. Very nice outside seeing area with gorgeous views of the hills and vineyards, they have a lot of trees which have plaques telling you what tree it is, when they harvest it and what it's used for which was insightful. Also very interesting seeing the chocolate making process. Generous samples of chocolate given at the door. So much chocolate and such a variety from salted peanut to chilli to caramel etc.
Summer kick juice was delicious as was the mochachino!
If you're in the area its well worth the visit!
N. D.
Chocolates and ice creams are good but the cafe meals are very ordinary.

Nestled amongst Yarra Valley wineries, this would be the go-to place for kid-friendli-ness. Variety of chocolates for sale, cafeteria with inside and outside dining area, open fields for kids to run around. (balls provided by the facility) Try parking at the very bottom parking area on the weekends to avoid congestion.

There is an array of all things chocolate here and ice cream! Very crowded though and items are a bit priced but still worth supporting the local businesses. We had some of their delicious ice cream. It was cold when we went but worth it!

Been visiting this place fir a number of years, but since being in a wheelchair I appreciate it more.
Easy accessibility. Flat areas, no steps to inhibit movement and great ramp from dining area to outside lawn area.

Much better if you go here during spring so all the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. But aside from that, it was a great experience. The food are also great!
S. T.
Lovely location, busy but roomy enough not to feel crowded. Delicious chocolate
M. C.
Very nice place. Lots of things to taste and it's great you can see the workers making the chocolate.
J. L.
Great place to grab a selection of chocolates. Definitely try the chocolate covered Anzac biscuit.

When you feel exhausting to visit different wineries in coldstream you can spend a little time to enjoy ice-cream and coffee with the fascinating view in here. There are so many different type of chocolates. Besides you can have a free trial to their chocolate here. If you need to buy souvenirs, this place is a good option.

Great coffee and chocolate. Don't order the bacon and eggs. Bread was a stalactite from the permian era and the poached eggs were like golf balls. Waffles were great.
M. B.
Beautiful place to go for nice view and some dessert. Photo taken on the way.
R. H.
Beautiful views while enjoying a tasting board of Yarra Valley delights. Needed a glass of wine though.
K. W.
Great service, lovely ice cream with many flavours and wonderful scenery
M.
The chocolate shop is great but their restaurant menu is lacking a bit of variety.

A delicious experience as usual. Hot chocolate with an extra pot of melted chocolate was amazing and actually nice and hot. Kids loved their ice creams and we purchased milk chocolate freeze dried strawberries and Rocky Road, 4 packets of each to take home. They're our favourites.
E. T.
Wonderful for people who can eat the chocolate & ice cream, but no option for gluten-free & lactose free - disappointed.
C. Q.
Great spot for a picnic under the tree, nice views and good food.
S. D. C.
Although crowded staff did a good job keeping things moving. We were seated very quickly. Food and drinks came out before the kids had time to argue with each other. Kids loved the little milk bottles their milk shakes came in. All up would definitely go there again.
J.
Love the ice cream here. Large portions with a good selection of basic flavours. The chocolate is not my taste, probably more Australian (made for our warm weather) rather than the smooth Belgium/Swiss chocolate I prefer. Bought a jar of choc chai tea- wasn't good so might be advisable to stay away from tea. Lots of grass for kids to run around. And the restaurant is large with a renovation with nice views.
C. G.
Walls of chocolate of every possible combination, but if they don't have yours you can make your own with the kids. Cafe on site and large grounds with toys and balls for the kids to play and work off some energy! Beautiful surrounds and excuse for a day trip.
V. K.
Good place to bring your kids, lot of chocolates, ice creams and lots of fun..

Very busy with tourists when I visited, but staff is clearly trying their best to accommodate to every needs and be as professional and friendly as they can with how busy they are. Be prepared for a long queue to ice cream shop. Not much to see as a chocolate factory tho other than a wide glass panel to see inside their chocolate production line (I saw frozen strawberries being dipped with chocolate), however I doubt they’re all for sale in their merchandise as I didn’t see it anywhere. A good range of products on offer too as souvenirs - chocolate fondue, hot chocolate set, dark chocolate spread, etc.!

Yummy chocolates, sundae, cakes and ice creams! 2 hrs needed to thoroughly enjoy. Good scenic ride to this place

Beautiful place to visit with families and friends. Have a lot of different types of chocolate tasting.
J. H.
Lovely staff, I wish the other customers would wear their masks, it's not much to ask

Great place to visit, great food and tons of chocolate.

We went on a Saturday and it was packed full of people! The staff were friendly as usual and giving out samples of chocolates which the kids loved. Their ice cream was huuuuge! Don’t order a 2 scoop for one person 😅 it was yummy and definitely value for money but remember to share 😆 they’ve changed it now so the cafe is only for dine in but u can sit in the gardens if you bring a picnic mat

It took 50 years but finally went thoroughly enjoyed myself but my food wasn't the best tho but glad I went

Beautiful place to visit. We enjoy the food and specialy the chocolate

If Willie Wonka existed he would live here. Amazing range of chocolate for young and old, super friendly and helpful staff, you will definitely buy way more than you intended. Great outting for the family, a date or just to spoil yourself :) there was even a wedding there when I went!!
E.
Tasty food
Good service
We went on a week day, so not that busy
W.
Good views outside and not bad icecream
Chocolate is ok too
Y. K.
Awesome family friendly chill out spot. Great views, smells and amazing tastes
R. L.
Good range of food options, very quick service in the cafe. Moderate to high pricing for a pub style cafe (order and pay at the counter then food delivered to the table). Can't book ahead, not good in covid times.. Chocolate shop is dangerous to waist line and wallet, tons of options! Nice open grass areas for kids to run around. Good range of ice-cream options. Yes, would go again.
A.
Tasty chocolate for any chocolate lover. Gets busy on the weekends.
C. M.
Huge variety of chocolate set in the most beautiful location. This place is wonderful on a quiet day and hell on a touristy day. Cafe is quite nice and ice cream is excellent!
B. K.
The chocolate brownies are amazing!!!!! Such an awesome variety of chocolates. Highly recommended and will definitely be returning
B. H.
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful even with the place being so busy! Lots of variety and products to choose from. A great place for families as well, although often extremely busy.
A. B.
We visited on a Sunday and it was super busy. Even though it was busy, staff got people through check out and ordering quickly with great customer service. Give yourself some time to look through all that they have - so many options and varieties. I picked up some great gifts for friends and family.

Ohhhh mate you gotta try the Shearer pizza
D. M.
Loved this place. Took the family and let's be honest, there is chocolate there. They were going to love it regardless. Definitely recommend the trip out there.
S. W.
Absolutely amazing place! Great day out when they are holding a festival. Such great choice and decent prices in the cafe! Good variety of chocolate and ice cream! A great place for couples, families and the young at heart!
F. M.
Lovely place to enjoy chocolates made by professional chocolatiers. The grounds of the place also has a pig and goats for people to view and take pictures of.
K.
Nice place for the kids, lots of choices for gift, chocolate and ice-cream are both great and nice staff
B. B. M.
Such a cool little spot, desserts to die for! we will definitely be back!
D. P.
Great coffee (even better chocolate), service, food, environment & overall atmosphere! Girl with the light hair is very friendly and has exceptional service - will be back many times again!
A. M.
A great place to try lots of different products with chocolate. Many unique gift ideas that you cannot find anywhere else. Only negative: this place is a zoo full of people and children (-1 star)
R. M.
A nice venue in a great rural setting. An interesting and varied selection of well made chicolates and a nice basic menu for a light lunch. The chocolate tasting was very good. The information on the website relating to chocolate tastings, however, does not reflect the restrictions because of covidc regulations and there was initial confusion about whether we could get in. Book before you go.
J. W.
Friendly, professional staff. Great chocolate range and ice cream to die for. Can't highly recommend their Nutella ice cream enough. The place to be on those warm summer days or for just a nice drive with family or friends. A must when in Victoria
S. p. p.
The ice creamery is really good. The serve is huge for the price.
G. N.
Nice selection of chocolates and delicious ice cream. Not much for kids to do other than want all the treats. Bring a picnic blanket to sit down and enjoy the sugar rush. There is a play area/park McKenzie reserve 5min away that has a nice play area for kids
S. L.
Very cool. Imagine a chocolate dream world... you are probably thinking of the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie!
L. V.
Was pretty good but pricey. Fairly popular during weekends/public holidays, particularly on a good day. Should be good for a visit if you're visiting the area with kids.
S.
The only bad part of the experience was not being able to stay longer as our tour group was there only 45m.
