Comments of Gelato Messina Darlinghurst
A. N.
• They always have great variety of ice cream flavours. Their weekly ice cream flavours are also creative and taste good sometimes.
• The service here is really efficient.
• There are very limited seats inside but more outside.
• The price has been increased a bit more, so some people may not find it reasonable.
• I'm not sure about Liven. But last time when I tried to use it, it didn't work. However, Paying by LIVEN is available.

It's 11am and Im sitting down enjoy my 1ltr tub with Salted Carmel White Choc and Cookies and Cream. I cannot ask any better way to start this festive season! Go get tubs store in the freezer!!! Lovely staff, tasty gelato, it's super wholesome!
W. W.
My most favourite gelateria in Sydney, excellent service, great ice creams, interesting interior! We’ve been served by the beautiful Argentinian girl named Sol, who let us taste some of the strange flavours, and we love them! We will be back!
K. F.
Yummy ice cream, good service. Always check out the specials. They are usually interesting
E. M.
A-MAZING gelato, a lot of house-made ingredients. Friendly staff, the girl who served us was lovely and informative. Lil pricey but quality 👌
D. w. K.
The line was down the block so we decided to see what the hype was about and we were not disappointed. Fast friendly service and delicious, high quality gelato with fun, complex specials are in store for you. If they have the Eton Mess & Yeah Mon specials, Go for it!!
S. S.
Apart from following the global trend of having to put some sort of dough in every second ice cream this place does offer a more than decent choice of high quality ice creams. Seriously though, really not a fan of having crumble/biscuit/cake/cookie/biscotti/oreo/sponge in everything - just leave it at one or two cookie dough varieties... nice weekly specials or rather flavours, always check the blackboard!
K. M. C.
First of all, good customer services, our server was very friendly and greet us in mandarin even though we speak fluent English, that’s cute. I have to say Carbonara pasta was phenomenal! But could be less saltier from my point of view. Pizza was okay And it looks a bit sad, not my fav, but the dough was on point. We should’ve just go with something classic haha!
Mocktails were painfully sweet and overpriced, yes painful sweet! Most disappointing drink experience in Sydney so far! Artificial sugary and just weird!
B. D.
This is the place to go when you need a premium gelato fix. We go here to order fancy gelato birthday cakes for 16-20 people, Golden 8 this year, and Dr Evils mushroom a few years back were great choices, still deciding what to order next time.
C. M.
Passionfuit and blood orange sorbet was perfect 🤌
B. S.
Fantastic ice cream. Great staff. Big selection . Top top place
A. S.
Only the best most eclectic frozen dessert this side of the equator! Where else can you get nacho flavoured gelato? Take a taste before you buy because you don't want to miss all the flavours!
O. N. R.
Was volunteering last night at rough edges for the homeless and one of the staff very kindly brought in 3 tubs of ice cream which this business often does and was very appreciated.
A. L.
The best creative gelato in Sydney! The specials are the way to go, with new and favourite concoctions released every few days.
Personal favourites = anything with brownie or peanut butter vibes. Try the number two, Robert brownie junior or true romance as soon as you can!
Note - they also sell their cones for when you get a takeaway
E. D.
Their special is amazing.
That’s intense milk.
Pistachio is my fav
N. K.
No words can describe how good their Gelato are.
M. L.
Cute interior design, very bright place with music. Gelato I had was perfect.
Interesting app system so you can avoid long waiting (which is worth is anyway!)
G. Z.
Tasty fresh gelato and lovely customer service. Lots of flavours to choose from. Fruity ones are awesome.
K. B.
The original and the best... You can't go wrong with Messina gelato. They leave everyone else in their wake. High quality, fresh, delicious and always bringing in new flavours.
R. W.
The Darlinghurst store is personally my favourite Messina, the staff are always helpful and friendly and knowledgeable about the new flavours and let you try before you buy. They are usually very generous with their scoops (and so they should be as each scoop is around $6) 9 times out of 10 I’m highly satisfied with the amount of ice cream I get on the cone.
They always play cool music and the atmosphere is great, highly recommend giving this little gelato shop a visit if your in or around the Darlinghurst area.
P. “.
Good as always. They have improved their serving size which is good. Pistachio gelato seems a little floury. It used to be very good at the start but is not as good as it used to be. I don't find their new flavours exciting at all as they all seem to have peanuts or cakes in them. I still try them but usually regret the decision.
G. B.
Absolutely love this place!! Gelato is amazing and I creative department is really sick
e.
Great ice cream, friendly customer service and price isn’t bad! Will be back! TIP: Try the boysenberry oh my god that is so damn good!
M. T.
Mango and cream was nice but the pandan and coconut was way too sweet! They didn’t let me try the flavours, which is one of the most basic things at ice cream shops.
O.
Best ice cream I’ve ever had. I go there often and it’s always a delicious delight!
F. W.
Delicious! Specials are very imaginative. They have coffee but only with dairy which is a bit weird. You can get sorbet without dairy but not coffee. Only a couple of tables but there is a park down the road to sit.
D. W.
Fun specials along with a great standard range of gelato and sorbet. There are a few vegan sorbets, however It is quite rare for the specials to be vegan. The gelato cakes are very popular and creative and are generally on stock ready to purchase. Can a challenge to park nearby.
W. B.
Simply put, the best ice cream/ gelato you will get anywhere in the world, period!
Messina is the gold standard, do yourself a favour and give it a try!
P. v. B.
I feel like I’m doing this place an injustice by only giving it 5/5 stars. Best ice cream experience in Sydney (Australia?). And I mean experience because the gelato is great but the loud music and large crowds make it an exciting adventure deep into a delicious flavour jungle.
R. B.
There can never be enough Messina stores. It's small, but there's indoor/outdoor seating.
A. O.
I love this place and the specials they offer! I visit Messina Darlinghurst very often, as I live 2 minutes walking distance from the place. Unfortunately, it happened a few times, that I wasn't getting the proper size of the scoop, it was half the size of the usual one. :( Please, take care of it, as paying the same prize and getting scoops so different from each other might be disappointing.
H. S.
I love Gelato but I think I must have received a dude with my order. It just didn't taste right. I tried my friends and theirs seem okay but nothing too fantastic. After a long wait to being served and the cost I would have expected better.
D. S.
10$ milkshake your joking, until you try and you discover it might be worth it.
A. P.
Amazing gelato, with new specials every week. Almost authentic Italian gelato experience, the only thing missing is the creepy middle aged Italian men drooling over any girls in your group.
P. G.
We've never had to queue four deep to buy ice cream before. But, wow, it was definitely worth queuing for! My recommendation is the Hat Trick; but only one scoop. So rich, chocolatey and oozing with caramel sauce.
P. G.
We were on a dessert hunt post dinner, and after walking around for ages looking for a warm donut shop (around 9pm on a winter's night), and finding nothing, we settled for a scoop of pistachio and a scoop of white chocolate with hazelnut in a cone! Delicious! The place was packed and had a nice buzz inside and out. The staff are ever so patient if you are undecided on flavours. Great spot.
K. C.
Absolutely awesome ice cream! Lots of flavours, exquisite taste, excellent value. Love it!❤👍😊
J. P.
I was once introduced to this place with the statement “It’s the best gelato in Sydney.” Honestly, I never even considered any other brand. I’m addicted! Great service, always busy and playing great music. I recommend it to all my friends when they arrive in Sydney and I WEEKLY TREAT MYSELF TO AT LEAST ONE SCOOP.
T. K.
Fantastic yummy icecream... I'm in my happy place...🤗 definitely coming back here again.... and again... must try...
J.
I admire the fact that they are so successful even in winter, but unfortunately over the last 4 or 5 years all their gelatos now taste very similar and are very inconsistent. I used to love the peanut butter and jello sambo flavour and also the salted white chocolate but again too inconsistent and often bland 😭
S. W.
How can you resist a good time gelato?! New flavours are tasty!
R. M.
Love, love, love Gelato Messina!! The flavours are inventive and always changing. Make sure you bring cash because they don't accept card. Staff are friendly. This is a not to be missed experience in Sydney. There are queues, but they move quickly and the gelato at the end makes it well worth your time.
R. B.
Absolutely solid choice of flavours (over 20!) and they all looked delicious! Scoop size is good but price is above the average of what other gelato places charge that I've been too. That said, this place has a queue even when there's a thunderstorm going so seems to be the choice of the locals. Go in, mmm and ahh about which flavour to choose and then just get three to satiate that child in you - you won't regret it.
M. M.
OMG. This place is to be visited by anyone and everyone coming to Sydney. Fantastic flavors, awesome taste sensation and amazing service that allows you to sample before you buy. My suggestion is the double scoop cone. So much deliciousness in a cone. Cannot walk past this amazing place without dropping in. Can get extremely busy, but worth the wait. Great prices for real gelato.
M. M.
Obviously the best ice-cream in Sydney! The flavours are creative, original and absolutely delicious! What is the best is that it is super affordable and worth every penny! Can get super busy but the service is quick while still making you feel like you are an important customer. Enjoy your ice-cream while walking through the streets of Sydney or sit in the park and soak up the sunshine.
A. W. C.
I had an excellent chocolate sorbet cone here tonight. The chocolate really hit the spot and the cone was also delicious. The overall feel of the place made me want to order 2 or 3 scoops but I held back.
S. T. A.
I've had gelato all around the world and this is the best! All our international guests agree. Hand's down - the BEST!We visit Messina at least once a week. I need an excuse so it will always be after a meal at a nearby restaurant. You need an excuse when the gelato is this good! Why? Because I would eat a half liter every day if I didn't care about my waist size. And don't forget to look at the daily specials board. They have yummy specials you'll wish were regular options.
M. N.
Its all about flavour. These guys simply make the best ice cream in the world. If you don't believe me, just try it for yourself. They often have specials which are absolutely delicious. Personally, I'm a big fan of their Hazelnut flavour, I know its simple even to the point of being boring, but trust me, its not the same Hazelnut you'll have anywhere else. Prices are comparable to most other places or perhaps slightly dearer but its all worth it at the end.
A. A.
I just can't get enough of their Gelato!
It's fun, creative and fresh! I have been eating their gelato for years now and I think it's the best in Sydney. Their specials are always interesting and tasty, always worth a try!
K. L.
It might not be the best ice cream in Sydney but the flavour selection is amazing and the specials are absolutely brilliant. Recommend the choc peanut fudge
L. K.
The best gelato ever!
K.
Awesome creamy delicious well priced gelato! Friendly staff despite being busy. Long queues at times but they move rather fast. Cakes are delicious and exquisitely made, not cheap everyday dessert though. Make sure you have cash, cash only business.
A. S.
Stop reading this review and go there. This is hands down the best gelato shop in the world! Yep, i said it. The selection of ice creams is amazing and the weekly changing specials ensure you return every week just to give them ago. The man behind this, is an absolute genius and i will go to no other ice cream shop again.
L. Z.
Gelato Messina is an amazing pastry shop that every cake is creative and worth exploring. I have tried "Mini Me", the mushroom-like cake. Within such a small cake, it contains six layers flavours from the top to the bottom. The pop candy at the bottom is a plus for the overall taste. I'm looking forward to try other cakes in the near future. By the way, the official website provides detailed sectional drawing of each cake. A great help for picking your favorite cake.
A. L.
Very good selection of gelato and sorbets and very unique specials every time you visit. Unfortunately it is quite expensive at around $4 for a single scoop. Better value if you go for a tub to share.
S. C.
Really enjoy the interesting gelato flavours but sometimes a bit too sweet. However they have a lot of more tart flavoured sorbet's which are a good balance to the sweeter flavours.
D. Y. (.
I don't usually eat ice cream during winter, but now I do as it's because of Messina. Its salted caramel and white chocolate is to die for, delicious. They have special ice cream flavours every week, I honestly have a hard time choosing the flavours because they're all delicious and reasonably priced.
A. T.
This place is so awesome. There is almost always a line at night, even in the middle of winter! The gelato is so unique, the usual flavours are nice but you really should go for the specials. There are some really interesting flavours and combinations that you would think taste strange but they are just incredible. The staff are lovely, the price is quite reasonable considering the portions they give you.
Would highly recommend this ice cream. There are three stores around Sydney CBD, not too far from the stations! Go for a walk and you'll love it.
A. T.
favourite gelato place in Sydney. Always fresh and always packed with people. The line moves quickly enough so don't worry you won't have to wait for that long. Remember to check out the specials menu for one-off flavors! they are always the best!
B. M.
Creamy goodness! It's hard to go past, even on a cold winter night. Huge selection of flavours and it's definitely worth trying some of the more obscure options. I recently had the poached fig and it was incredible!
Another previous highlight was the super rich chocolate that was delivered via Uber. Amazing and delivered straight to my location.
B. T.
The original (I think) and still the best. My hubby can’t eat dairy so the choc or salted mango/coconut sorbets are his staple. The sorbets are really creamy and no idea how they get it so but it’s really appreciated. As for me I try the ever changing specials. The line moves quickly and always a smile on my dial afterwards. Yum.
K. S.
There's icecream, and then there's Messina
S. N.
Awesome place! We eat here too often. I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners recently. What a charming man with a lovely Family. Bet Messina was a more profitable choice than Healthcare!!!!! Serving sizes better here than Bondi. Keep the special flavours coming 😎
J. A. A.
This is a great place to have a taste of Italian gelatto. Many different flavours and you can try the dairy free too (mostly fruit ice-creams). It's a bit more pricey than other places but it's a must if you are visiting Sydney.
A.
This has got to be the best ice-cream parlour in Sydney, if not the world. Its imaginative, delicious flavour combinations are only bested by the pop-culturally relevant naming references. The staff are friendly, helpful, and excellent under pressure, and the value for money is fantastic! My only qualm is that the cakes, although beautiful and delicious, are a little overpriced and underadvertised. Go here when you can!
J. C.
Always the 'go-to' gelato for anybody.
Sometimes the classics are the best and you cannot walk past the chocolate sorbet or even the passionfruit sorbet.
The weekly specials are almost always a winner with the latest concoction being a milk gelato, nuts and Milo. Delicious doesn't begin to describe it.
P. W.
Girlfriend bought me a cake from Messina for my 30th and it was awesome! Everyone was impressed and the flavours were delicious yet easy to cater for everyone. We demolished the cake in less than 15 minutes!
The guys have great customer service and allowed us to try before buying.
Street parking is available in the area.
One thing to remember is that you need to get the cake back home stat! But they provide cooling packaging that can last 35 minutes.
M. N.
Gelato Messina has some of the best gelato in Sydney. A scoop or two of Pistachio on a waffle cone is irresistible, it's so creamy, nutty and perfect for either an after brunch snack or an after dinner dessert. The service is super fast, friendly and the often long queue moves quickly. With different flavours each week there's always an excuse to revisit.
C. M.
My favourite gelato shop! It can be noisy and crowded but they're always super friendly and no hesitation to give you samples. Definitely worth the wait and the price isn't too bad considering how popular they. The tiramisu is to die for.
H. B.
A trip to Gelato Messina is a unique experience filled with exciting flavours that will take your taste buds to a magical place over the rainbow. Make sure to try the peanut butter cheese cake while it's on special because its life changing. The prices are reasonable and its definitely money well spent.
J. T.
Best ice cream in all of Sydney! Literally.
Although the service isn't great, the ice cream is amazing. My personal favourites are the two caramel flavours, and the coconut and lychee flavour.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area (it is close to St Vincent's Hospital).
T. K.
There's recently be a bit of a debate between classic gelato flavours executed by artisan producers, and the crazy zany variety that some see as 'gimmicky'.
I think that Gelato Messina has definitely found its niche, and shows us that no category of food needs to take itself too seriously. Sure, I have immense amounts of respect of artisan producers, but I also think that the creativity that is involved with coming up with such variety and staying relevant and fresh isn't to be underestimated. And to top it all off, they definitely communicate the concept well!
Great for a laugh or to satiate your craving for variety, I think that Gelato Messina is a great place for a speedy after dinner dessert. The specials board is my absolute favourite.
K. A.
I don't think this place needs another 5-star review, but nevertheless here I go. Delicious, original and freshly made ice-cream, open until 11pm (so perfect for dessert after dinner nearby). I loved the salted caramel with white chocolate chip!
A. M.
Excellent service, varieties of flavours. Very friendly team, service with a smile even when there was queue. Obviously a very popular gelato bar and for good reasons. The pistachio gelato's my favourite.
M. B.
There's a couple of Messina outlets now, but this is the original and still the best. The homemade gelato is fantastic beyond words, and they have a great range of delicious flavours. It's always busy with the after dinner crowd and the 'on a first date' crowd. They do cakes and litre tubs as well, if you want to bring something home to wow some dinner guests, as I've done on many an occasion. If you want to enjoy life, go to Messina.
K. C.
Best gelato I've ever had! The prices were very affordable and there were so many flavour options. I would highly recommend Messina Gelato to anyone looking for a sweet treat!
J. L.
My favourite flavour here is the pandan and coconut. Refreshing but also full of flavour. The lines are always crazy but I have had random reunions with friends I have not seen for years so it's both good and bad. Best when they pass out the menu earlier so you can work out what you want before you get to the counter.
E. L.
When I heard that Messina was doing soft-serves made to order, I couldn't wait to try. And I wasn't disappointed – it's a fun concept (you can also have your ice cream stuffed into choux pastry or put onto a crepe) and there are so many quality toppings to choose from that I turned into a bright-eyed kid in a candy store. On the downside, there's not a lot of choice of soft-serve flavours, and I wasn't expecting the mandarin gel to be this liquidy goo just at the very bottom of the cone (a topping should be on top, shouldn't it?).
C. O.
Really crowded but the gelato was absolutely delicious. There's a huge variety to choose from, ranging from chocolate flavours to fruity flavours and even sorbet. The salted caramel is the best in my opinion. Do try their special flavours too, such as blackforest.
K. S.
My favourite gelato place in Sydney, tastes just like ice cream. There always seems to be something new to try (new weekly special flavours) when I go there and because of this, it beats out Cow & The Moon in my opinion.
V. M.
OMG who thought icecream could be this good! Open late, normally a que, but you get through quickly, well worth the wait. Generous scoops too!
J. D.
Who doesn't love gelato. Best shop with traditional and quirky flavours, and they have the cute artisan ice cream section next door where you have little cute ice cream cakes or the larger ones, perfect for celebrations like birthdays.
N. B.
What can I say? The gelato here is simply amazing, so it comes as no surprise that it was recently voted the best gelato in Australia. From the 'signature flavours' menu, I strongly recommend 'Bounty', a coconut milk and choc-chip delight. 'Salted Caramel and White Chocolate' is also fantastic, as is 'Yogurt and Caramel' (Messina does anything with caramel especially well). But one simply cannot go past their 'experimental' menu, which changes daily, each new treat being on offer for approximately a week.
Recent excellent and imaginative offerings include: Potato Head (white chocolate covered potato chips), Holy Goat (fig and goat's cheese) and P-nutty (peanut lover's heaven).
Sure, the queue often stretches down the street, but the treat at the end is certainly worth the wait.
H. C.
Slightly cheaper than the Star City Messina, but of course equally wonderful. I'm a sucker for the usual flavours yoghurt caramel, and apple pie, although the specials change all the time and are fun too. Definitely give this place a go, the quality is superb and the flavours are highly creative and enjoyable.
S. M.
Always a queue but it is worth it. There are queues even when its cold out. Simply the best gelato in town. My all time favourite is always the pear and rhubarb flavour. Its so hard to choose between all the available flavours...and at $6 for two scoops why not come back again amd again to try them all? :-)
G. C.
I thought the best gelato was in Italy, but now I'm not so sure—it's right here in Sydney at Gelato Messina. With over 40 flavours to choose from, it's a good excuse to come back time and time again, and that I do. My favourite is by far the salted caramel with white chocolate, however the classics like hazelnut & bounty (coconut) are hard to go past too. Have seen some unusual flavours such as bacon once or twice, but wasn't game enough to try it. The prices are reasonable considering how incredibly popular this place is - they could probably charge double and people would still queue at the back of the long line in the middle of winter. Check out the speciality store next door for some true gelato masterpieces.
S. G.
Great quality gelato made right in front of you with an unrivaled variety of flavours. The specials are always a treat, I loved banoffee pie. Don't be disheartened by the lines, they move quickly and are a testament to the great treats inside!
C. X.
Generally good as an after dinner treat, but honestly, past a certain point, who are we mortals to rate one gelato over another? Ice cream is good. This ice cream is really good. BUT do you really want to wait half a hour for really good ice cream when you could have almost as good ice cream in 5 minutes?
G.
Best gelato I've had since I went to Italy last year. You owe it to yourself to try this stuff. Once you have you won't ever want to eat regular ice cream ever again.
M. N.
Amazing gelato with unique flavours that get updated regularly! The place is tiny and it gets quite packed but it's worth the wait.
So far have tried and loved: salted caramel, blackforest, peanut head. YUM!
D. F.
There's a reason why there's always a queue and why new Messina ventures are popping up all over Sydney. This is incredibly good gelato that is constantly evolving by way of a bevy of interesting flavours that appear weekly. You can't go by the old favourites of blood orange and salted caramel, or even chocolate fondant and classic lemon. A truly deserving Sydney institution.
W. E.
Amazing ice cream, I got the pistachio praline. Good service and a really nice and clean store.
P. P.
Best gelato in Sydney. Love the special flavours. The pistachio one is delicious and the berry sorbet is amazing.
P. O.
The best gelato in Australia with great flavors.
T. W.
Messina has become one of my go-to place for gelato, even in the middle of the winter. With weekly specials it means you will always have something new to try. Don't let the long lines deter you, because the service is friendly and very fast, the only problem you'll have is deciding on which flavour to get!
J.
Always queues, even on week night! They have the best unique flavors in town compared to other places.
Definitely recommend Howzat if you like mango flavored ice cream!
They're reasonably priced too!
R. I.
Best gelato you can get, anywhere! Had the pear and rhubarb flavour. It was so good I wanted to pay twice as much. Will definitely be going back regularly for a gelato fix, and I don't live anywhere near any of the stores.
P. R.
Amazing gelato! My favorite is Lamington, but I'm not sure if that's available throughout the years since they rotate their special flavours every week. Make sure to check their Instagram account for the latest offering.
M. G.
Have been going there for 10 years. Wish they had more specials or just new flavours, and I'd visit more often. Very good otherwise.
J. S.
If you want to join the hype around originally flavoured ice cream, go to Messina and queue up. They have another shop in Surry Hills which is not less busy. Everyone in Sydney seems to love their ice cream and I have to admit that it is pretty awesome. BUT I think that there are many other gelato places (i.e. on King Street in Newtown) that are almost as great as this one. If you can wait and afford it, you HAVE TO go to their Gelato classes! THEY ARE AWESOME and very insightful. You get to taste all flavours!!
L. C.
My friends and I went to the shop in the Star. The best bang for the bucks gelato in Sydney in my opinion. Two scoops for a little over $6. Huge variety of the flavours, but rather limited in the fruity ones. But for cake, coffe, caramel, and chocolate flavour lovers out there, the selection at Messina is to die for. The only con is the inaccessibility of the shop.
S. B.
BEST GELATO IN TOWN. Everything here is made from scratch, home made, with pure love and hard graft. It's pretty famous now, so expect to have to queue outside the shop, but it's totally worth it. They cater to gluten and dairy free needs and even do a weekly specials board with interesting exclusive flavours with cool, quirky names. Do not miss this place!
A. S.
I honestly don't know where to start this review!
This cafe is something that gelato lovers DREAM about. And I'm not even exaggerating!
I follow Gelato Messina on FB and I'm constantly seeing their new gelato creations. If you have ever vaguely imagined an amazing flavour combo, chances are they have it in stock-or have had it at one point.
I have tried blood orange gelato, milk rice, maple, bacon among other amazing flavours. They are constantly updating their flavours and the creation lab in Darlinghurst is the place to find all the wacky and wonderful gelato flavours. They also make cakes and other nibbles if you're not in a gelato mood. (Gelato donut anyone!?)
M. R.
Definitely the best ice cream you can get outside of italy. They also put their spectacular ice cream flavours in milkshakes that are also great and possibly one of the best milkshakes that you can get in Sydney. I recommend bounty and yoghurt caramel in a milkshake.
R. d. R.
Coming here is always an enjoyable experience as there are constantly new and inventive flavours available. I go with whatever is on the daily specials board as they wont be around for long. Always a delicious treat and if you cant get enough, get a take home tub and share the love.
E. B.
This is the biggest Sydney craze at the moment. Is it the actual Gelato itself?? Probably not. But the flavours, the constantly different and inspiring weekly menu is something that makes you keep coming back for more. Be prepared to queue.
A. S.
Place is awesome, the guys behind the scenes are so passionate about making the best gelato! Goes to show they have accomplished this with queues out the door! We did the cooking class and got to learn about all the ingredients they use, methods and how they come up with their ideas! 10/10

I'm obsessed. I can't even play it cool anymore and pretend that I don't totally love this place. They update the menu with new flavour specials (rotated in) daily. Follow these guys on Facebook and Instagram to see what they have currently. Also, do be put off by the queue, it moves really quickly and is worth the wait. Just be warned... once you're hooked, you'll forever compare all other Gelato spots in Sydney to Messina.
J. M.
There is normally a queue out the door at this place especially in the evening but the wait is definitely worth it, note it is cash only unless you've downloaded their app. Check out the special gelato concoctions that are detailed on the blackboard out front, these change regularly and taste testing is encouraged.
s. g.
Amazing as always. If you like gelato, you can't go wrong
J. N.
NOTHING BEATS MESSINA! I am constantly trying to tell myself that I shouldn't bother waiting in lines that are about 20m long but then I find myself returning to Messina weekly. It really is so fun and delicious. Great atmosphere with everyone hustling around. The staff are also really patient when you ask to try a flavour. yummy
P. U.
Its always good, but the jump from good to awesome is very much dependent on the specials boards which can be a bit hit and miss. Ive hardly ever seen a repeat of some of their best flavours, while some that are a bit 'meh' keep making it back on the board.
S. H.
This is a bit of a staple for us. I guess it helps that we live nearby. The kids absolutely love it. The service is always friendly and come with a smile and they have the most amazing flavour combinations. My advice is to use the app to pay and collect loyalty points!
C. W.
Heaven is a well-crafted Gelato Messina special (think Baileys & Butterscotch, or Red Velvet Cupcake); heartbreak is discovering the special you've set your sights on has sold out.
Having had gelato in Rome (which appears to be many people's benchmark for quality gelato), Gelato Messina's offerings are the best I've ever had: the regular flavours are incredible, the gelato cakes are both visually gorgeous and pure pleasure to the palate. The staff are always lovely, no matter how long the queue and how many tastings you demand, and where possible the ingredients are all organic and ethically sourced, so the price you pay (comparable to other ice cream chains) offers great value.
R. T.
Messina is incredible gelato with enriching flavours that isn't too overpowering. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're after food ice cream.
R. C.
So many delicious flavours to choose from! Wish we had this back home in Canada. We tried the macadamia one and the pistachio praline. SO GOOD!!
K. J.
It was expensive, but soo worth it. We were sceptical at first, but then we went ahead and bought some and it was no doubt the best ice cream I'v had in Australia. It was right up there with gelatios in Italy, which you don't see too often down here. Plus the variety had a distinctly Aussie flavour... the BBQ one was weird, but surprisingly well-executed!
E. B.
Let's be real. More important to me than finding an apartment in Sydney - was finding an ice cream place that I loved. And obviously it was in McKay's best interest as well since, as he puts it, he's "always just $5 away from the center of my heart". Sad, but true. I just prefer ice cream to a real meal any day of the week.
Anyways...surprisingly enough, there aren't very many ice cream or frozen yogurt places in Sydney?! Not nearly as many as in SF at least. Which is why I'm SO GLAD that we happened upon Gelato Messina early on. The gelato here is amazing. AMAZING. I haven't tried as many flavors as I'd like, but so far my favorites are the coconut, caramel yogurt, and the dulce de leche. It all looks so good though...
Pro Tip - I don't know why, but the gelato here melts FAST. So EAT up quick unless you want it all over the place - enjoy!
Also - Cash Only
E. (.
A great place for good gelato. Always fresh and flavourful! This place reminds me of Italy, so I will be back. Can't wait to have one closer to where I live!
v. m.
Favourite ice cream shop of all time.
They make crazy flavours like carrot soup or really fatty things for people like me with custard, whipped cream, cookie crumble and peanut butter all in one! They also make that iced cream sphere from master chef.
C. H.
I love this place. I love everything about it. Easiest six dollars you will ever spend. Everything is chunky and full of flavour - it is the rockstar of Gelato in Sydney. Forget the finesse and the all natural ingredients of cow and moon (best gelato in the world apparently) or any of the cool experimentation of N2 Gelato (they use liquid nitrogen) or the lovely Italian purism of Rivareno - Messina is the Led Zep of sydney ice cream - it is a veritable Jimi Hendrix guitar solo of gelato, face melting, raw and elemental. Brave the lines - it is totally worth it, and order the specials whenever you can. This is like Ben and Jerry's taken to the logical extreme - animalistic, yet so refined. That is Gelato Messina - truly the finest gelato place I have ever visited (and I spent ten days in Florence, the birthplace of Buontalenti and gelato - eating gelato three times a day every day)
t. p.
You'd come here for the fantastic progressive house / electro mix, let alone the fresh, 'not-bloated', 'happy-and-want-more' after-feeling you just don't get with other icecream stores.
So good, we'll still visit regularly in winter !
Also - we almost always get a seat, other stand-up icecream joints take note.
P.S. The hot chocolate is a secret weapon :)
H. C.
Great staff always energetic and friendly. Great place to try new flavours and go out of your comfort zones. The cakes are amazing too. Try the Dulche De leche it's not there every day but if you manage to see it I would definitely recommend.
M. N.
Best gelato I have ever tasted to date, as good as the best gelato places in Paris. Messina's gelato is always insanely rich, smooth and creamy, and they have a large variety of flavours to choose from.
C. T.
The original. Gelato at Messina never disappoints. While I don't frequent this shop nearly as much as the Pyrmont branch, I've still poked my head in on more than one occasion. Regular flavours such as salted caramel with white chocolate, strawberry and many others delight, but it's the specials that really put Messina a head above. While many are pretty amazing delights, some of the flavours are really out there (satay and pork crackling gelato?)...but that's part of the fun with Messina, they take chances and put up unique and different gelato. And it is what will keep people (and me) coming back every week!
I. R.
This place is pretty good with a variety of VEGAN sorbet, the salted coconut and mango vegan sorbet is a WINNER! Delicious and half healthy ;D service is usually Good, and a little wait sometimes because it's popular in a good location.
P. B.
Gelato Messina will change your life. It is positively divine. Personal favorite flavours are the tiramisu and the mango. The prices are so reasonable and the location in Surry Hills is very retro.
D. L. T.
Messina is literally God's Country! It is THE best gelato you will ever try. As a gym junkie/wellness warrior, I make sure that when i have a 'treat' it is the real deal. Gelato Messina make everything on site, so when you are having tiramisu, it was handmade before being transformed into delicious gelato! They use real fruit puree for the sorbet and no preservatives or flavourings. It is busy regardless of the weather, time of day or day of the week. Don't let the lines phase you either, they move fast!
E. N.
No doubt Messina's serve up the best gelato in town. I do find, like every branch of Messina that the queues are horrendous, however at Victoria St, the footpath isn't that wide and its quite annoying walking around the mob that blocks the foot path queuing for and eating ice cream. It is quite easily located, and great for dessert after dinner in Victoria St.
A. K.
I'm sorry, but there is nothing other than a 5-star option for Messina. Especially the original Messina. While I'm not a fan of all their specials, usually there's at least one 'hit' for me. Especially if alcohol is involved. The gelato is always creamy and the flavours fantastic.
Nothing really to complain about, expect the small thing that I have to remember to have cash on hand to come here. Which I rarely carry. Other than that, always amazing.
E. L.
It seems like the possibilities at Messina are endless! You can go wherever your tastebuds and your imagination desire, with so many amazing flavours to pick and mix from. My personal favourites amongst the staples are salted caramel and white chocolate, dulce de leche, tiramisu and pistachio, but then they roll out the daily specials and it's one of the toughest decisions you'll ever have to make! So avoid this dilemma and do what I do...eat nothing else before you get to Messina and nothing else after and allocate your complete daily calorie intake to Messina gelato! The Darlinghurst store also sells the most intricate and wonderful cakes, just perfect for a special occasion or just to have all to yourself! You may have to wait a few minutes to get your gelato fix because they get super busy (understandably) but you won't be disappointed. There are a few tables and chairs if you want to have your gelato there (this way you can go back for seconds or thirds) or you can have it to go and even take a tub home with you. I've had so much gelato in my life, from all over the world and I feel so lucky that the best I've had is right here at home in Sydney...you can't go wrong :)
E. B.
The only thing not to like is the queue lengths. Also beware the misto plate. 5 scoops of ice cream is a good idea only occasionally (unless you're honey boo boo).
Remains to be seen if the bar can be raised after the Game of Cones promotional flavours. (Hodor was the best).
C. S.
Oh, Messina! What would ice-cream craving Sydney-siders do without you? Something of a local phenomena, Messina serves up good old-fashioned flavours alongisde some seriously inventive & sinful ice creams. They have a pretty even split between sorbet base offerings & the more lush gelato base ones. The weekly specials ensure that regulars never get bored.
Try the Dr Evil. ice cream cake for a bit of fun. Got it for my brithday once and thought it was brilliant.
L. Z.
Went to the Surry Hills one. No listing of it on google.
I had peanut butter plum pudding & coconut+lychee ice cream. When I tasted the free sample of peanut butter plum pudding, it was so good I had to get it, but after a few more spoonful, you just feel like you are eating peanut butter. Coconut+lychee was quite refreshing, a bit too creamy, and heavy on the coconut side. Both flavours were a bit on the sweet side.Overall I think it is good gelato, I won't go queue up for it again. 122912
C. B.
Almost more iconic than the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The best icecream in Sydney, and an absolute must-try!!
The lines out the front of the Darlinghurst store every single evening speak for themselves.
I'd suggest picking something from the weekly specials board... whatever it is, and no matter how crazy it sounds, it will be amazing!
B. M.
Great balance between traditional and modern gelato flavours. Blood orange, lemon and hazelnut are all truly wonderful. The specials are always interesting. The pandan and coconut is a national treasure.
D. i. t. T. d. t. g.
One of the best gelato shops in Sydney. Absolutely superb ice cream with so many wonderful flavours to choose from.
L. J.
Essential ice cream at it best, covid essential or not. Highlight of area.
A. H.
Nice place to get ice cream if youre in the area. There is a range of flavours to choose from including your traditional ones. The queues can get long but its well worth the wait.
L. M.
Their lemon gelato is a must try. They always have new flavours all the time. Best service in Newtown! A real friendly business... I like all their flavours that I have tried thus far!
A. W.
Once upon a time this would have been a no-brainer 5-star, I distinctly remember a special with orange marmelade gelato and chunks of choc-fudge the size of golf balls, so darn good. Maybe I have just gone too many times, but my gelato allegiances have shifted to other places ... to summarise: good but no Flame Canada.
C. W.
Great gelato - I don't think the actual quality of the gelato is amazing but the flavours are so unique and it's a great atmosphere. Also good value - $10 for half a litre.
M. A.
This gelato is a perfect after a dinner in Darlo. Don't waste your money on restaurant dessert, just walk down Victoria Rd if you want a sweet fix.
Very nice pistacchio and pear and rhubarb. Also very nice cherry sorbet.
P. B.
Fantastic gelato. So much better than any other gelaterio I have been too. So many varied and inventive flavours. Pear with rhubarb. Pandan and coconut or Marsala and fig. To name a few. Yum one visit is not enough.
A. C.
Very nice gelato 🍦
I had cookies and cream and macadamia crunch and I prefer the latter.
A little too sweet but it’s alg. 👍🏻
A. z.
the gelato flavours are constantly changing and innovative. the recent opening of the dessert bar has proven to be very popular! I highly reccomend the popping candy Dr evil cake, it is my favourite gelato cake!
S. B.
wow! what amazing ice cream. Seriously, the creamiest and smoothest ice cream you can find. During the week there is hardly any line around 5:45, so come straight from work and get your ice cream fix :)
R. I.
Not really sure what the hype is about. It pretty good gelato. But not sure it warrants the night club feel or cult following. Had pistachio which was pretty crap. But the chocolate peanut butter fudge was good.
F. C.
On a recent trip to Sydney staying at STAR, found myself at the Messina gelato bar. Hard decision but chose Salted Caramel and Pannacotta with fig and amaretti. First mouthful had me hooked - unbelievable flavours! In fact it was soooo goood, that I couldn't resist the urge and went back for seconds! This time milk chocolate with peanut fudge and dulce de leche - when are you coming to Melbourne? Please..

*This is a review about the Gelato Messina Ice cream Degustation Class*
On a warm Saturday morning an egar group of ice cream fanatics meet outside the Gelato Messina store, sipping coffees and waiting for the mini bus that would sweep them away to there ice cream masterclass.
Hidden in a tiny warehouse in Rozelle is the ice cream laboratories of Gelato Messina, the place where all the magic happens. The group of 20 Messina enthusiasts are shuffled inside the tiny warehouse and introduced to 3 white chef jacket clad men who smile as sweetly as their much prized frozen confectionary. They are the new wizards of cool, creating mouth tantalising experiences for people all over Sydney and very soon the world.
The group are seated at a couple of stainless tables as the boys introduce their business and philosophy as the first course of 6 arrives for their gastronomic pleasure. Little works of art including a gin and tonic sorbet, creamed corn gelato and cake pop ice creams come steadily from the walk in freezer between cries of pleasure, ohhs and aahhs and lots of gee wizzes!
After a culinary tour of the premises the sugar fuelled group are ushered back into their mini bus for the short ride back to The ice cream equivalent of Willie Wonka's Chocolate factory where for half an hour they are let loose in the shop, free to sample as many flavours and eat as much ice cream as there stomachs will allow. Which by the look of the frenzy, is actually quite a lot!
L. P.
Best Ice cream place in Sydney. Always so many yummy and new flavors to chose from and great value for money! Would recommend to any one visiting Sydney!
A. H.
Thanks to Messina, Sunday arvo 'Messina runs' have become a must. Worth the wait (and yeah the wait is a pain, but hey it is Messina!). After trying out their specials over the past few weeks, I have gone back to basics. My favourites: Salted Caramel and White Chocolate, Pear & Rhubarb and everything with peanut gelato.
M. C.
messina deserves the honour of the best gelato place in sydney.
I love how they come up with different flavours all the time. Where do they get all these ideas from?
I remembered one time a few years ago, we were really into this brit comedy the mighty boosh and in one episode, there was this character called old greg who liked bailey's. round about that time, messina came up with this limited edition flavour called old greg which had baileys as the predominant flavour in the gelato. that's why i love this place!
Thankfully my favourite flavour is a regular flavour on the menu - Yoghurt caramel. You'll b surprised at how this interesting combination really works together.
b. w.
With Gelato Messina a short walk up the city; who has the energy and desire to eat generi icecream from NZ+Andersons+whatnot anymore. Their stuff is premiumly good. Peanut Butter that tastes like PB? Wonderful stuff. The queues are there for a reason.
L. v. R.
Ugh gelato. Need I say more. My favourite flavour is bounty. Their mount flavour is unique in that they make it worth fresh mint. So different.
u.
Messina never fails to deliver in creativity and taste on the Eclair de Lune and Biggie S'mores. This creative department is mainly a kitchen/factory but I think they should have a proper sit-down place for customers to enjoy on premise and not just a pick-up point. The dishes themselves are 5/5 but 4/5 for the location and overall experience. If you're going just for the normal gelato of course its 5-star.
Full review and photos on my blog.

Always fast service and interesting wait.
M. F.
Delicious gelato produces the only one between Bondi junction and kings cross
O. G.
AMAZE BALLS ICE CREAM
I had 1 scope of lemon and one of passion fruit. Not the best combo as the Lemon dominated the flavours but both were exceptional on their own.
D. B.
Amazing ice cream, good solid taste, fun unieke flavours and some solid classics. Great staff, always ready to let you taste.
S. A. W.
One of the most popular gelato places in Sydney, it would be worth paying a visit to this gelato place. They make gelato of various flavours and are always changing. The place at Darlinghurst is where the gelato gets made, so best to pay a visit there for the full range of flavours. Not too pricey too!
J. P.
Sex in a tub. We always get the 500ml tub with three flavours (two Specials of the week and one standard chocolate flavour) and two cones for $11!!! Sick deal. Routine is to bring tub home and watch movies on the couch. Best movie food ever (popcorns are overrated). The reason I broke my sugar bet.
T. P.
A Sydney favourite, and rightly so, Messina always impresses with its great and inventive variety of gelato. They really make an effort to ensure their gelato is special and not just gelato.
G. A.
Loved the awesome weekly flavours, ice cream is so creamy 🤤

Upon finishing an intimate dinner at our dimly lit wine bar, Mr First Date suggests we head for dessert at Darlinghurst; a little Gelato bar known as "Messina" that is open late and always packed. Despite knowing that Mr First Date will not be Mr Second Date I agree to the terms of said dessert as I am lured by the mystery of this hidden late night gelato bar. How is it that I have not found myself in this establishment as yet?
Surprisingly we park right across the road! All I see at first glance is people. A sea of people.. could this be for gelato?! What had I been missing and how was I going to rectify my absence?
Walking into Messina felt like walking into a thick local-bar vibe where patrons lean over the bar to get their order across to the bar tender. All around me I hear "2 scoops in a cup, a litre to go, Chocolate, Peanut Butter.. something something....." I've forgotten all about my awkward 2 hour dinner, I've forgotten all about his bad teeth and impolite jibe about my blouse. He has given me..... this.
He orders Salted Caramel and White Chocolate and a fruity sorbet. I order Apple Pie and Coffee. We sit at a mismatched little table out front and nod and point to our cups in what was the most comfortable silence we had shared all evening. I tell him he absolutely MUST try my applie pie gelato as it has actual pie crust in it. I am excited as he passes his cup to me and I devour the last of his white chocolate chunks and salted caramel and in this gesture I know I have indeed found a generous soul. More generous than I, for not only did I eat the rest of his, I ate mine and bought a takeaway tub.
My lips brush Mr First Date's ear as I whisper ever so softly that he needs to take me home quickly. I'm desperately aware of the shivers down his neck as my breath quickens.
"I want you to take me home now..... I need to put my Messina in the freezer before it melts"
Date over.
P. R. S.
Interesting ice cream vendor and it’s good but not my favourite. That said....they do deliver via one of the delivery apps so.....yeah, that is great!!
G. K.
Don't bother queueing and go straight in and to the far end of the counter, where you can find new flavours that change daily. My favourite so far: Mr.Potato Head - "peanut butter & potato chips dipped in white chocolate"
G. O.
Since I first went there a few years ago, they never stopped to create new flavours and still surprise me. Consistent quality and of course, great icecream.
W. N.
Gelato is made on the premises. Great selection of flavors and excellent quality. Taste before you buy. Fun location and friendly staff.
N. C.
The only thing wrong with this place is the line is huge. They tried fixing it by opening another shop next door but now there are two long lines.
It's worth the wait as the ice cream there is absolutely amazing! If I could post a meme in here it would read "TRY ALL THE THINGS!"
Just a short walk from Kings X station. Worth it!
I. C.
Original gelato and sorbet flavours - amazing designs from the lab... caters to everyone!
Follow them to keep track of the specials - they go FAST
M. M.
Love this little place.... always a great treat after dinner at Una's. Always try to count whenever I'm in town. Really friendly service and reasonable prices.....I'll be back!
B. W.
Always tempting to try their new mixed flavours
R. L.
it gets so busy and i know why! i love the salted caramel and white chocolate it is to die for!! yum i love it. gets busy though so be prepared to line up for a while if its after dinner time on a busy night in sydney
S. H.
This use to be my go-to Messina stop but now with Bondi opening i rarely come here unless in the area. But it's still the best as you can't go past the original and with the dessert bar next door i might be stopping by more often.
R. A.
Usually a line out the door on a busy night but the icecream is worth the wait.
C. S.
Good staff, good gelato...i feel the sweetness is a bit over the top but have found quality and taste to be consistent
M. B.
Used to go after school every Friday ten years ago, when it was just me and my mum in the whole store. The friendly staff and unique flavours make it one of my best childhood memories.
C.
At the nook beside its bustling gelato outlet for a creative experience; a few of the menu items weren't available although it was just post lunch. The Kalamansi was refreshing and delightful, whilst the Tangyu very much cup was attractive but sadly with bland hardened streusel. The view from the window side bar added to an otherwise average eat-in experience.
G. S.
Found the Gelato Messina last week while strolling after dinner and was so impressed with their products we stayed for dessert . Recommend.
C. H.
The best artisan gelateria in Sydney. Original flavours that change weekly and great for people watching! Be sure to try their coconut pandan or coconut lychee gelato.
N. B.
Fantastic. Love the pistachio ice cream.
Grandson was extremely happy with his oreo flavour ice cream..
K. F.
What's not to love?
always amazing new home-grown flavours of Gelato
of course - they keep the old favourites available.
M. M. G.
One of the best ice-creams I have ever had. Dont be scared of all the weird flavours they offer. Be game and try something exotic!
G. V.
Really great gelato, the choice was impressive and the taste really nice. The flavors mixed well without being overpowering.
T. W.
Unbelievable flavours! So many awesome and creative options that it's so hard to make a decision. I went with the hazelnut and was not disappointed. I highly recommend you try this place if you are in the area.
e.
love this place, always great service even though it's very small.
g. f.
Ice cream like my mama makes it. All the cool kids are at Darlinghurst Messina. Pumping on a Tuesday. Try the panna cotta with fig jam and amaretti.
C. P.
best gelato ever, always new flavours to choose from, cant beat this place
T. C.
There is not much I can add that already hasn't been said, but as an Italian from Italy, this place blew me away.
Fantastically fresh icecream, which is undoubtedly hand made rather than the powedered rubbish that is sold as 'gelato' all over Sydney.
The Queue can get mental, so plan accordingly.
The area is full of hipsters and 'beautiful people', which can make for quire an amusing people watching session.
Gets Tino's thumbs up!! Worth driving from the other side of town for!
D. L.
Awesome service, ice cream and funky music! What more could you want?!
S. M.
Best gelato in Sydney! Almost always busy but service is friendly and the special flavours are crazy-delicious.
M. P.
Don't let the huge queues put you off this place - they are there because they make the best gelato in Sydney. Make sure you grab a salted caramel gelato and the mango. It's to die for.
D. R.
Just good olde fashion gelato with a twist
M. M.
Excellent, reasonably priced icecream.
N.
The staff member Joanne was the absolute best and hope she is there everytime we go!
R. T. P.
Best ice creams in Sydney. You can try them all until you get the one you prefer
T. H.
The queue is not justified. The taste is great and lots of fun to eat but if you queue more than 5 min I'd move on. Expensive.
C. W.
Wide range of creative flavors at reasonable prices. This place is delicious. Even on a winters day i can't resist. Best in Sydney!
F. K.
Not a place to hang around but grab your gelato and explore the area! Love the Pandan and Coconut is my favourite!
S.
Friendly staff were helpful helping us choose from the many many flavours.
D. K.
Good assortment of sugary sweet ice cream although extremely annoying line and hordes of people that just group out front and ordering means fighting to the front like at a busy bar on a Saturday night, even when it's Tuesday at 6pm.
J. C.
You really can't beat Messina. My favourites are pistachio, coconut and pandan, tiramisu, & bounty. Their specials are insane and usually so good too!
D. P.
Excellent ice cream and flavors are amazing and everything feels fresh and just made
J. M. R.
Excellent ice cream, flavors are amazing and everything feels fresh and just made

Best Gelato in Australia. We visit every time we go to Darlinghurst and take a 1L pack home.

Best Gelato in the WORLD!! (and I've had my fair share of gelato!). All time fav is the Pandan Coconut. Amazing!
K. Y.
The mango gelato was nice and the salted caramel was sensational. Would like to try more different flavours next time.

I come here regularly and always try the specials, never been disappointed. Try 2 flavours and reduce guilt by asking for 2 "tiny" scoops and paying full price.
B. A.
The best ice cream in Sydney
H. T.
the cakes amazes me at this place, but there is long line up all the time but i guess thats go with all good places in sydney. always go back to here for my favourite pandan coconut ice cream

Great place with different ice cream flavours. Very friendly staff. Would suggest they have an extra paymachine
Z. K.
Best ice cream in Australia!

Messina is the place for gelato in town, plenty of flavours to choose from, always busy, nice music, not much space to stay, pick and go
B. J.
Great little place. While I was waiting I was dancing to the brilliant music they were playing. Icecream flavours are awesome here.
S. L. S.
Super busy gelato shop. Interesting choices of flavours and all are delicious.
D. S.
Phenomenal ice cream. Would also recommend the home takeaway tubs with the three different flavours.
C. a. M.
Selection of flavours are great but when you are being served, make sure you get someones attention otherwise, you can be left standing in line for a long time....
C. R.
Im here just for work and my Sydney friends took me to Messina after dinner, it was an altered state of consciousness!
Im a devout Athiest - but I may have seen God while I was eating my gelato.
P. W.
Absolutely divine ~ the best ice e cream ever!!!!❤
C. B.
Certainly the best Ice cream I've had outside Italy.
Possibly the best ice cream I've ever had.
You want to try this place.
B. C.
Good service
Good range of flavours
Quick service

Strawberry rhubarb flavor and apple pie flavor are sublime. Best gelato I've had.

I am obsessed with Messina. They have a great selection of gelatos with new specials coming out frequently.

Very nice ice cream joint. Friendly staff. Blood ornage, dark chocolate my fav.
D. B.
The flavor I had- a salted caramel coffee was good but didn't blow me away. I'll have to try it again
D. C. (.
Love it the best gelato in the world
A. D.
The only downside I found with this place is the specials they put on. It made me want to try all five on the board and then come back the next night to try all the different specials.
This will be the sure fire way that I become fat!
J. P.
Amazing ice cream, wide variety of flavors and great service. Nice place to chill
D. D.
Taste of the real gelato. Best gelato in town, everyone should try.
R. K.
King of Gelato!. A favourite is the chocolate fondant.
J. B.
Hard to resist to those ice-creams... A broad range of flavours to choose from, and all pretty good
J.
Always love it when I visit
F. Q.
Best ice-cream in Sydney and the most friendly staff!
C. A. H.

My girlfriend and I go every week for the new specials... We love gelato and this is the best we've found!!

Best ice cream in Sydney. Messina can’t be beat and their weekly specials always entice
M. S.
Once you see the que and then taste the gelato you will know why. It's heaven in a cone
J. D.
Really good selection of tempting ice creams and very clean premises
V. L.
Best GELATO in town however bad service.
My altermate fav is the Pandan and coconut.
Best in the Darlinghurst branch and do have the salted caramel it sucks
G. S.
Best ice cream ever. Full stop.
K. P.
Top quality, great vibe. Our local gelato spot. Warning: highly addictive! :-)
J. M.
It is what it is and they are great at what they do, probably one of the less pretentious Messina outlet and their ice cream is always good.
R. S.
Whether it's a birthday cake or we are craving an afternoon ice-cream; Messina is our go to place!
王.
I had pistachio and peanut butter ice cream! They were amazing!
C. B.
Delicious gelato but lacking on some plain staples or seasonal favorites because of the overly dessert-y options.
K. K.
Amazing Ice-cream 😊
