Yuuuum best ice cream ever. "too good to miss" is my new favourite. I just wish they could keep all new flavours because they all taste so good.

I love this place. There’s so many flavours to choose from. My favourite is Lychee flavour. Mint choc was a little to peppermint strong for me but my son liked it, so everybody will have their favourites. Highly suggest people to try it out.

The asian lady who served us yesterday in Newton shop was not friendly really. I understand they were busy but you cant rush the clients when they are deciding the ice cream flavors! Been in other Messinas, attended by argentinian ladies, they were nice, not like yesterday. Just giving 3 stars because of the argentinian ladies who served us last time in Bondi and because the Super Dulce de leche is really good. Newtown shop, would NOT recommend, at all.

Gelato Messina is famous and continues to be so for a good reason. High quality gelato made with fresh ingredients and served by friendly staff who are willing to give you samples before you make up your mind. Many regular flavours as well as unique concoctions such as Pear and Fig. The Pistachio is highly recommended as it comes chock full of nuts that are crunchy and absolutely delicious. Must try!

I've been to several of the different Messina locations and the standard is all round high! That is to say, there is not much to differentiate between locations apart from a bit of window dressing. Honestly, some of the 'special' flavours can get a bit much for me, but you don't have to choose those. What I really like about Messina is the complete control they have over their produce supply; Messina cows for milk. I mean, they even bake the hot-cross buns to put in the Easter special Icecream!

Been a couple of times for eat in and takeaway. Weekly favours are a good idea. Go when it’s not busy and you can taste a few without feeling rushed. Something for everyone. Super creamy and generous size serving. Staff friendly both times I’ve been. Right across from the Dendy cinema, we took ours into the movies without a problem. This place could be dangerous!

Having heard great things about this place, I was let down with my chocolate ice cream. For the price, it was not to my standards, I was surprised how not cold the ice cream was, it was melting the second I received it!

Excellente Gelato! Messina also keeps it exciting with their weekly specials, where you can experience some deliciously unique flavours and fun textures in delectable gelato form. Their cakes are essentially works of art as well and always a welcome sight for many at birthdays. The staff there are great too. Although seating arrangements aren't great, I highly recommended to make it your dessert stop after eating out in Newtown. :)

What can I say about this place ? It's Messina - the ice creams are great, lots of flavours to choose from and I always go with one of their on the board funky name promo. The only thing with this place is that it is small. Sometimes it's a struggle to move let alone seeing whats on offer. It needs a better queue management i'd say.

Always good ice cream here. It's close to the C9 ice cream shop and gelatossimo shop but I prefer Messina. My Italian friend says they are not as good as they used to be when they started and had just one or two shops. He was wondering if they have started using powder instead of real ingredients. They have opened many shops and are always busy so I think now if they have compromised on the quality. It's still my favourite ice cream shop in Sydney.

Dulce de leche is always a winner here however there are always new unique flavours that are worth a try. I can hardly drive by the shop without stopping for a scoop or two. Every other gelato shop in Newtown lets me get scoops of ice cream in my own cup instead of a cone or paper cup that they provide and I was denied with the excuse that the company does not allow it. I think Messina need to rethink their business practices because there is no health and food safety law that states that it is not allowed. If cafes encourage reusable coffee cups then I don't see why a gelato shop shouldn't keep an open mind too!
