Comments of Guild
M. M.
I've never been tempted to try this place, mainly because board games don't interest me that much. During covid, we started ordering from this place as my housemate was interested, and we found the food to be really good.
Tonight, I dined in for the first time. Food was great as always, but so was the service. The owner actually introduced herself. She was really lovely, and not only did I get the sense she loves what she does, she made us feel super welcomed.
This place would be great for friends who want to grab a bite to eat and have a bit of fun. I would say it is also kid friendly.
There is a good range of food, so you are sure to find something you'll like. I personally really like the calamari.
N. A.
My partner and I had a really lovely evening here for Valentine's Day. It's pretty much my perfect night... Pizza, beer and board games. Food was great, amazing selection of games and outstanding service. Really appreciated the game recommendations from the staff and owner.
T. R.
Went to Guild’s tonight with my teen daughter and a couple friends. The service was outstanding. The Pesto Pasta, Mushroom Risotto, Pasta Carbonara and Calamari were all delicious. The atmosphere is friendly and laidback. And, they have a massive selection of top shelf board games from child friendly to adult funny. This is a great spot to spend the evening.
J. C.
We went there as a family. It was amazing. The owner came over with a bowl of chips the minute we sat down for our toddler. The food was great. It had a great vibe for a date night. Tonnes of board games. Costs $3 per game. The Nutella calzone for desert was also a winner. But get there early as it did shut at like 9pm on a Sat.
T. J. F.
This place was amazing! Authentic Italian pizza and boardgames. Hadn't eaten at a restaurant like it before and will definitely return and recommend. Family owned and everyone was so lovely, kind, helpful and welcoming.
O. C.
First time dining here, the customer service was amazing and we loved the massive variety of games! Only criticism is that the vibe was a bit dry because they didn’t have any music playing, just seemed like such a fun restaurant needed some background noise.
T. H.
The food is fine, it isn't unbelievable, but it is better than average. But, you don't go for the food. You go for the games and atmosphere. There is music playing, but it is quiet, so you can still hold a conversation without yelling, and the games are great.
The staff are gamers who just happen to occasionally bring food over. They take time to explain them and make recommendations.
The other thing that is awesome is the way they manage bill splitting. They'll gladly give each person at a table a seat number for orders, at the end of the night just give them your seat number and you pay for your food. It's brilliant for groups.
S. C.
Had my birthday party here! So helpful and lovely to be around! Great pizza! Definitely recomend
T. H.
Such a cool concept. Playing games during dinner. Our family had so much fun during dinner. We didn't hear" are we going yet once"
S. T.
Great food, awesome selection of games to play and management were very welcoming and interactive.
Update - headed there again last night for a rare kid free night. Was a good as it was the first time we visited. Very welcoming and friendly. Food was good, and helpful with the games too, even allowing us to push two tables together to give us more room for our game!
F. J.
Great idea to have board games with fantastic food. Loved the pizza.
A. D.
Amazing pizza, great atmosphere, and you can play board games!
J. B.
Great place for kids, the food was average, not bad but nothing special. The milkshakes were great, I would give 5 stars just to the milkshakes. You can also play board games while waiting for food.
B. B.
A great place to take kids. The food is nice, simple and a good family selection. There are more board games than you can dream of. My only disappointment is the fee's for the games.
Since covid it is a $5, which is understandable due to the extra cleaning. However there was confusion amongst the staff as to whether the kids meal included a free game (as stated on the menu). When we settled our bill we were indeed charged for the kids, plus we were learned the charge is per head, not per game! So we had an extra $20 on our bill for two card games. We would love to come here with other families, but for two families that would be $40-$45 just for the game charge alone. We could buy the kids their games for that much!
I hope they resolve this confusion soon, as it is a great concept and a fun night out. For a couple of adults, playing a longer more expensive game, I would absolutely recommend it.
M. C.
Great place for pizza and games with friends! Lovely people serving and delicious gluten free pizzas!
T. T.
Lavender lemonade was so good 🥰 board games everywhere was a new experience but interesting :) chef was also lovely

Most amazing staff and owner. Awesome food and games. Drinks are great. Everything is amazing. Will be back.
J.
Great food. We had a couple of entrees - generous wedges and great calamari.
Followed by delicious pizzas - fantastic bases (and I am GF so really enjoyed the care).
Our daughter loves Guild so has been a few times with friends. Great place for a social evening with friends. Games galore to choose from - we were in a booth so went with the numerous card game choices.
Lovely owner - Damien - really looked after us. Thank you again.
M. S. (.
Good
-Food and board game at the same time!
-Indoor toilet.
-Quality of food is ok.
-Good for family or friends.

Amazing place with wonderful owner. Great ambience, light and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly and attentive waitstaff, good food and fun games! It was my father's birthday and the owner and team went above and beyond to make his day special; even serving him a surpirse special birthday cake and singing happy birthday to him! My father said afterwards The Guild was absolutely his favourite restaurant, and that he'd never felt so attended to and welcomed. Great place, I would definitely recommend.
G. M.
A casual pizza & pasta restaurant with all you can play board games. A good place to pass time & catch up with friends. Their pizza and pasta are ok.
T. J. A.
Great food and board game to boot! Fantastic every time I visit.
D. C.
Great family friendly restaurant. Our kids loved the games, staff were helpful picking appropriate games too. Loads of games too choose from.
D. H.
Fast service and good food! The apple cider was nice too.
Note that some games are more well-used than others, and thus have varying conditions :)
A. C.
Great concept. Good food but needs little attention to detail around ordering and getting meals out at a similar time. Well worth a visit if you enjoy a board game over dinner.
A. Y.
Fantastic staff that know what hospitality really means , overall fun place and the food was good 😊
A. B.
Great place! I went there today by myself to have lunch and Lucille sat at my table with a board game for us to play and chat while I awaited for my food. I felt welcomed there. Food arrived promptly and it was delicious. I would totally recommend Guild!
H. K.
Owner was so lovely, we mentioned we had a show to get to, so we could gauge if we'd be fed in enough time to get there, and she made sure our food came out promptly, and checked on it for us after very little time. And everything was delicious!!!
K. S.
Board games. What more do you want? Great range of games, staff were great in helping pick games as well as helping us play. Our group of 14 didn't touch our phones for the whole 2 hours we were there!
D. A.
Great people excellent food fun playing board games
J. R.
Greatest restaurant I have ever been to. Not only was the food delicious but the owner and their staff were so welcoming and deliteful it almost made me and my friends cry!! If I could rate it 100 stars out of 5, I would
L. G. (.
Pretty good food, service was (for once) too frequent but understandable.
N. !.
I have been to Guild many times and I love the food there and that they can easily substitute items out that one would have an allergy or intolerance to.
Considering celebrating my next birthday here
B. J.
Very welcoming. Delicious food and very friendly staff. We were the last to leave the night we were there but the staff didn't rush us, they waited for us to finish our game.
L. H.
Great games selection and atmosphere, decent food include vegan and vegetarian - including VEGAN CHEESE. Great addition, can build your own pizza with vegan cheese (+$3.5 though). Good selection of craft beers on tap and also in bottles. Good for groups. $3 for boardgames, great value.
L. C.
Absolutely amazing, the man running the place is charming and a sweetheart and I would happily come back for more food
S. F. M.
We arrived at front door!! Greeted and taken to our table. We braced ourselves for the food from reviews we read the previous night. It did not disappoint at all. Coffees came out!!! Superb!!! Staff member helped us pick board games 👍. Entree Was damn yummy!!! Pizza was? NO Comment!!! But the Dessert was yummy!!!
I will go back despite the pizza 😂😂😂😂. The atmosphere was chilled out and it was relaxed!!!
Customer Service was great. But next time I getting a pasta dish!!!
S. W.
The menu isn't complicated so you can focus on playing games. We really enjoyed the pizzas and salads. They have a wide variety of games to play and buy. Enjoy the family atmosphere at dinner time or go at brunch hour and play all day. If you play a longer game, they charge a measly $3 extra per person.
F. U.
Great place to bring the family. A variety of games are available to play ranging from the standard games to complex games. Small quick games are also available for those who want something light.
The food is great, who doesn't like ordering a pizza of your own design!?
The staff are friendly and helpful.
L. R.
The concept and execution of this place are top notch. The staff were very accomodating and gave expert recommendations on both food and board games. The food and drinks were good quality but the five star review is for the unique and enjoyable experience. The massive range of board games kept us entertained and we even bought a game to take home with us. Will definitely be back.
O. G.
Fun place for almost any type of tabletop gaming, and is ideal if you want to try a game without buying it yourself. The food isn't great though; the pizza is oily and the toppings slide off, the chips are dry and stiff, and the sides are lacklustre. Nice drink service though, although I'd recommend not playing and eating at the same time, because you won't be able to fit your game on the table.
O. T. S.
Three of my group had the pizzas which came out quickly and tasted amazing. I also tried one of the pastas which was delicious! There were so many classic games and interesting games to choose from. We stayed for a few hours and played bears vs babies, a game I’d never seen which was heaps of fun and hilarious. The dessert and drinks were also fantastic. We played a few other games and will have to come back another night for more! I cannot fault this place, it was an amazing night!
Thanks Guild!!
T. H.
As a starting comment, I would like to say that I NEVER write reviews (this is the first) so this in itself is an indication that I thought this place was great. We have two young teens who we had dragged to museums during the day but Guild made their weekend trip to Canberra worthwhile. The games are fun, they have a HUGE number of games, the staff friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the games. We stayed 5 hours the first night and came back again a second afternoon because we had so much fun. Pizza has great toppings but the bases perhaps leave something to be desired (bit crunchy). Drinks are great.
L. F.
We've been coming here a long time but just recently every time we've visited we've had an issue. Our order is messed up more than once, we've ended up with things on the bill we didn't order or receive. They're great at sorting it out and the pizzas are great but it's just a little frustrating to constantly have to remind the servers of your order. Other than that it's a worthwhile place to visit! The team are very friendly and the board game variety is diverse. They also explain the games to you of you've never played before. Despite the issues we will keep visiting
R. C.
Excellent food, excellent drinks, wonderful staff, and quite a handsome collection of board games!
Loved it and I can't wait to visit next time I'm in Canberra.
D. B.
Good collection of woodfired pizzas, burgers and classic pub food, plus an awesome array of board games.
Come for food, friends and great games.
I was there for a birthday event with over 30 people. We were well catered for, and by the look of things, so was everyone else in the establishment.
Edit: I just thought I'd add that since this was posted, we've been going every year. Guild keeps getting better. We had a few tiny problems with paying separately but they've come up with several ideas to make the process much smoother over the years.
Thank you!
P. H.
Highly recommend for games, especially for friends or families who regularly play board games, though the friendly staff will easily be able to recommend a game for any skill level, beginners to experienced. The pizza and nibbles are quite good, but not top shelf. Still, highly recommended for a fun night out, you can easily spend several hours here and never be bored.
K. H.
Guild is great! It's main shtick is the collection of board games, and they do not disappoint on that front. The staff are lovely and will suggest both games and good food to try. Speaking of which, the pizzas are really good. Definitely recommend trying at least once, even if board games are not necessary your thing - you may come away with a new hobby!
Y. E.
This place is nerdy in a good way. We love coming here to try out new board games and drink super sweet jugs of booze. The menu is like if you asked computer science college guys what they would serve if they owned a wood fired pizza oven and magical deep fryer. The staff are friendly and attentive, taking your order isn’t their specialty but helping to you learn and choose new games is. This venue is welcoming and fun and when we want an night out but don’t want snobby bars or restaurants we always choose to go to guild!
P. F.
Welcomed warmly into the great atmosphere the owner has created and served promptly.
We found the pizza and desserts very nice and reasonably priced.
Not sure what all the moaning is about below.
Planning to return tomorrow it was thst good!
T. O.
Nice atmosphere and games. The entrees were great! I ordered the lavender lemonade mocktail, it was sweet and had a good hint of lavender scent and flavour.
The chicken bits were crispy and tender.
But the pizza didn't have much flavour? It felt like it was missing salt or some kind of kick (maybe missing a herb??) I'm hoping it's just the day I went. The crust however was nice and puffy.
A. K.
The food was great! All of it was fresh and quickly served. The pizzas are amazing and the snacks are really tasty too! Staff is really courteous and patient and they help with suggestions and recommendations too.
There is an amazing range of games and there's a games menu too for quick reference!
Only reason I wouldn't give this place a 5-star is because there is no air conditioners. It's burning hot even with half capacity and I was sweating just sitting there for 3 hours because that's how hot it was. Also, it's only slightly better than 2 years ago, so clearly they haven't improved much.
R. D.
A fun place to hang out in a relaxing atmosphere over games and pizza. Family friendly, good value, great entertainment through a variety of great games and great food. The service was really good.
R. W.
This is a great place to catch up with friends over board games and drinks. In terms of food, the vegan options are a bit limited, but the staff are very accommodating in altering menu items to suit your dietary requirements. I would definitely recommend the pizza over the pasta, but if you and your friends really want to focus on the board games then all you need is a couple of soft drinks or a cocktail pitcher!
As a side note, this place is phenomenal at managing bill splitting.
A. S.
Had a spectacular time! Pizza was incredible and the owner is both lovely and brilliant. Great time, we’ll likely be back every week.
A. S.
Absolutely amazing selection of games, really enjoyable atmosphere, really lovely staff. Only mild letdown was the pizza, chef could probably learn a thing or two about the finer points of a good woodfired pizza. Crust a bit thick and the classic margarita I ordered had its toppings become a bit soupy by the time it got to me.
J. R.
This has become a go to place for Friday Family Night. The menu is simple - pasta, pizza and chips - and reasonably priced but it's the gaming that sets this place apart. Hundreds of boardgames to choose from and the wait staff are helpful and knowledgeable and can help you get started with a 5 min overview of the rules and objectives of you've never played before.
It really is a different experience to be in a restaurant where all the tables are having fun instead of being on their phones!
N.
Came here with friends. Excellent food. Really good service. Spending time playing board games is excellent way to enjoy friends' company! A very novel idea and a great place to spend an evening. Also allow easy bill splitting by taking separate orders on the same table. When I'm back in town I'll definitely be back at Guild.
L. H.
So much fun for a family dinner. We played Harry Potter trivial pursuit and got trounced by a 10 year old. The wait staff were also super helpful with our game choice as we had never been before. The food was great as well so good choice all round.
J. P.
A little expensive, but you get to play board games.
Guild used to be great. In the beginning they had staff dedicated to help your group discover new board games, and would explain how to play any of their wide range of board games. These days I find Guild is understaffed, lose bookings, and forget orders. Don't get me wrong, the staff working there are really friendly, they just don't seem to have the time to attend to all their customers. I used to come all the time, but now only occasionally.
Previous review from early 2017: "5 stars for their awesome Espresso Martinis!! Great range of board games and friendly staff with helpful suggestions."
I suppose my original review still stands, just not worth the 5 star review.
J. M.
This pizza house has a great atmosphere. The food is a amazing (try the eggplant chips!), service is fast and friendly, and the added theme to play one of their wall of games is total fun. Good for all ages.
C.
The food is OK... But that's not really the main reason you go there! Board game selection is great, is free to play before 6pm ($3 per person after 6pm), and they serve alcohol. The types of board games cater to everyone and the staff know all about them and can help out, including teaching you the rules. Pretty good way to spend an afternoon with mates who are keen on games. Highly recommended you check it out, if it sounds like it might be your sort of thing
S. K.
Lovely atmosphere, decent food, especially for a place focused on board games, and great service. Our first waiter was a little flustered, obviously knew, and we ended up getting our entrées at the same time as our mains, but that was alright since the main focus is too play board games and food is definitely secondary. He did however inform us that students get 10% off, which was lovely and useful deduction on his part. Our second waiter was excellent, after fetching a game for us, he asked us if we knew it, and proceeded to explain it to us and even dealt our hands, which was wonderful. Truly an enjoyable evening and the easily split bill at the end was the cherry on top. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy board games, and aren't too hungry.
T.
The food is very average. The drinks are very average. The pricing is up there considering the quality and quantity of the servings. The concept of playing boardgames is cool tho. But you definitely pay a premium and compromise on quality for the novelty of playing games.
F. S.
I had a great meal and learnt a hilarious new game here. The pasta was delicious and there was an amazing selection of games to choose from. The staff were lovely and dealt really well with a bumper crowd. Desserts are a must-have, I shared a brownie and enjoyed it immensely. Thanks Guild, I'll be back!
A. P.
I had never heard of a board game restaurant but it turnee out to be a great experience, the wood fired pizza was good and we enjoyed two of the games while we were eating. For the entusiastic they offer a large collection of popular games which can be played for $3 a player (which goes towards buying the game if you really liked it). Highly recommend if you like board games.
S. R.
Great place to spend some time, private booths have powersockets, lamps and service bells/lights.
Pizza was delicious- the crust was EXCELLENT and my friends schnitzel was made with care and without attempts to cut corners.
Amazing amount of boardgames and cocktails were delicious. Thanks guys for the service!
C. G.
Great pizza, super friendly staff, good games (plenty for 2 players!). Gluten free pizza and toppings with tasty options and intriguing mocktails - a pregnant food-intolerant's dream!! I highly recommend this place for a couple's date or a group gathering. Lots of fun!
c. b.
Gave it 3 stars as it us a fantastic concept and the previous time (5 stars) I went here 6 months ago we all had a great time. Thus time it was dreadful (1 star).
The good
- Pizzas were nice (although skimpy on toppings)
- board game concept is great.
The bad
- elderly couple seemed to be managing, or should I say mis-managing it.
- forgot our initial order at table.
- had to reorder at the bar, but they couldn't work the POS system so I had to enter it in for them.
- they werent busy but everything was a terribly long wait, even to order food/drinks at the bar.
- food came out extremely staggered over about 30 minutes (we only ordered 4 dishes).
- they forgot a pasta dish, which had obviously been sitting on the bench for some time as when we enquired about it they brought it out stone cold.
- said we didn't want the pasta dish as it was cold and didn't have time to wait for another, we were then told we could take the cold pasta dish home and heat it up there.
- we were then billed for the pasta dish they had forgotten and we sent back, and told that they brought it out ..... despite the fact it was stone cold and had been returned to kitchen.
Just had a very unpleasant experience the second time, for overpriced food the service needs to make up for that and it was just the worst service.
Hope they can fix their issues as it is a great concept and I would like to go back once they fix their issues.
C. M.
Have been several times, including opening weekend - visiting from Sydney. The first time, our group of 6 shared a fun afternoon trying 4 different pizzas playing one of our favourite games. Nothing disappointed. Another time we tried different pizzas and a new game - very enjoyable again. The staff are cheery and welcoming. Would be a regular haunt if we just lived a little closer.
M. J.
Amazing atmosphere and wonderful selection of games to play! Only downside is when it's busy if you're sitting near the kitchen it gets a tad smoky, but otherwise a great place go game and munch on some delicious food! :)))
M. G.
Guild is awesome! It's great to be able to sit down for a couple of hours and play board games. The food's pretty good too, the buttermilk chicken is a particular favourite of ours! There's also a wide variety of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), which we are yet to try.
The only problem with Guild is each trip costs too much for us to consider going there regularly. If we lived closer we'd consider the membership, which cuts costs down considerably. Unfortunately it's not feasible for us to go there regularly enough to make it worthwhile for just two of us.
I would highly recommend Guild for large groups that meet regularly or occasional meet ups with friends though. It's a great way of getting people into board games who have never played.
S.
$3 per person charge and you can play any board game you like as long as you like until close (10pm ish). Buying a membership waives this fee and gives discounts on buying game (and perhaps food also) so it would quickly become worth buying if you live locally. Food was quite good but kinda small portions, drinks were great. They are happy to do split bills.
M. B.
Warm friendly staff, happy to assist in all aspects of your visit, from ordering food to game recommendations. A great atmosphere with pizzas cooking in the wood fire oven, a good range of beers and ciders and a huge range of games to choose from. People of all ages welcome. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Can get noisy, but that's the sound of enjoyment filling the air. We will definitely visit again. Parking (metered) is across the road. Large pizza's approx $22, drinks approx $4-$8.
M. v. d. B.
Playing board games while having a snack is awesome. And the selection of board games is huge. Staff is very helpful and they have a good knowledge of the games. Prices of food could be a bit less but hey, who cares when having a good time.
E. L.
I came here with some friends for dinner and we loved the place. We ended up staying until nearly closing playing board games. Even the pizza surprised me with how nice it was. But it was the desserts that were the best part of it.
Will certainly come back next time we're in Canberra.
A. S.
Three thumbs up! Great pizza, wet drinks and super helpful staff! Damn good range of games as well. As previously mentioned, 'twas a touch stuffy but we were told they are 'working on it'. Should be cosy in winter though. Refreshing to see a venue devoid of people zoned in on their handsets too.
N. C.
We had an excellent time at guild however they had struggled with the booking system they had in place. Very greatful for still being found a table even at a busy period. Food was reliable, pretty good but you don't go to guild for the food. The experience was excellent as always and the knowledgeable wait staff are very helpful with food choices and game rules.
T. W.
Fun, great atmosphere. Board game collection is impressive! Staff are very helpful and friendly. One of my favourite places to go out with friends.
Food is a little overpriced but worth it and the atmosphere in my opinion.
A. R.
Guild gives you best of both world ! Fresh wood fire yummy Pizzas and plethora of board games😎 have been with friends n family.. last night I was touched by great customer service experience by Johnny who not only served us but introduced some good board games and he also helped in playing them.. Thank you so much I had wonderful Friday night!
W. T.
Very much a relaxed and casual atmosphere, great for groups especially those into board games (we had younger ones playing board games and eating while the oldies chatted, but lots of groups of young adults and uni students throughout). The food is simple but decent for its price, staff were excellent.
C. B.
Guild is a great idea. Order a meal and play games with your friends. A nice idea. Some of the games are getting a bit tatty, but are still playable. It costs $3 per person to play, which is fine if you can find a good game you like and get value from it. But sometimes you try new games and they are either too hard to learn, or just not that great, so the game fee feels a bit wasted. Food is quite good though.
D. A.
The pizzas and cocktails were very nice. A great selection of games to choose from made for a fun evening out with the family. Plenty of other groups and families around playing games helped with the fun atmosphere.
L. L.
Great place for a laid back get together with friends. They serve food, games and alcohol. They have awesome staff who are more than happy to help you decide on the games menu. Food is tasty and the overall feel of the restaurant is rustic and comfortable. They have booths or tables.
L.
Great atmosphere with excellent hosts, who go far beyond typical waiter roles. They seem to have eyes everywhere, attentively delivering expert game knowledge to an array of guests. Mushroom risotto was very average...I certainly wouldn't go there for a great feed...but prices are very reasonable, game selection is broad, temperature inside was lovely and warm against the cool and again...the waiters/hosts were so amazingly helpful courteous and diligent. Will definitely visit when I'm in Canberra next!:)
S. L.
Amazing risotto and great atmosphere. Lucille, the owner herself served us, she is such a lovely and interesting woman. Thank you !
J. M.
Pretty good food, with a good all-round selection on the menu and a fantastic selection of board games throughout time. The drinks and board games were really the highlight. While the food was good, the menu left a little to be desired as it wasn't very well laid out, not was the information well presented - you could tell it had just been done in Word by someone without much design sense. The menu need work guys! Reach out to a designer or something! It wasn't enough to drop off a star, but close. If you're coming here I would recommend coming early and giving yourself plenty of time as the atmosphere is rather good, and there's plenty of reasons to stay after dessert.
C. R.
We had a great night of games here. The staff were all excellent & very helpful, recommending and explaining games that we really enjoyed. The meals were generous & will priced & The beer menu is impressive. Highly recommended!
A. G. (.
Nice pizzas, plenty of specials on throughout the week. Staff are extremely knowledgeable about picking out games based on a general idea of what you may want to play or what you've played before. Well worth a look.
N. A.
Pizza bases are spot on. Toppings generally good. Games need big table, if you get a booth you probably can only play card games
C. O.
Terrific place with a good selection of food and beverage. We came during a very busy time, but the staff took their time with everyone, including us. Had a couple of really good pizzas and a pitcher of beer, alongside some funny and new boardgames. The staff was also very helpful with picking and explaining each boardgame.
One question though; do you have tabard?
M. S.
The best board game restaurant around. Unfortunately the serving staff often get orders wrong and waits for drinks can be very long. It has been a long while since they've opened so plenty of time to improve on these things. It would honestly be 5 star place if I didn't have to stress orders and repeat myself dozens of times every time I went there.

Guild is a quircky place with lots of character. I loved it. Food is ok but the collection of board games and cards they have is way more impressive. It is the perfect place to go to with a few friends, have drinks and play a few games. It is awesome too, if your thinking of buying a new board game and you want to try it out. Guild will most likely have it. And the staff is really helpful if your unsure how a game is played. If your a big board games / card games person this is the place for you!
B. S.
The games library is good, and the staff are usually pretty knowledgeable, but you will get a better collection and knowledge at a game store.
The pizza is pretty standard fare for a woodfired place at gourmet prices.
So if you want pizza AND games its not bad, but if you want one or the other go elswhere.
D. S.
Extremely fun place to visit. The menu offered plenty of variety, and the cocktails were delicious. The greatest strength of Guild is the incredible staff, who are constantly attentive and available for service or help selecting or playing the huge variety of boardgames on offer.
C. M.
This is a great place. The food is good, the games are plentiful, and the staff are friendly. When I was in, the store was nice and quiet, with only a few other groups present, so I don't know how loud it gets when it is packed, but when we were there, it was very easy to sit and play games at our own pace.
Z. K.
Quite a good idea. A place where you can eat food and play board games with your friends. Food was good for the price and staff are friendly and helpful. They even spend time with customers to explain game rules which is great service.
C. S.
A nice hidden cafe that seems to be quiet during the day. The Guild's claim to fame is its extensive boardgame menu. You can play a game while enjoying an adequate pizza . Their chips are really nice.
L. M.
Good wood fired pizza and delicious risotto.. venue is a little tired but great value meal and the choice of games to play while you eat is mind boggling
A. I.
Open late. Wide selection of board games to play. It's more amusing to watch drunk friends understand the rules, than play the games.
The snack foods are reasonable.
Staff are excellent and remarkably tolerant.
E. J.
One of the best family friendly finds in Canberra yet! If you need to detox your kids from their devices and spend some quality family time together with good food & interactive fun, The Guild is your place. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
M.
Great game place, lots of game options for all ages and group sizes. Good customer service. Foods pretty good, but you'll pay $18 for a very small pizza.
L. L.
Went here to try something new, and this is a fun place to play games while you get a drink or a bite to eat. The "Games Menu" has hundreds of games - we played "Atomic Kittens" while we sipped cocktails and nunched finger food. Food menu is casual, which suits this venue, and there are some good specials like the schnitzels for main course!
A. T.
The Guild is an unique bar & restaurant with a focus on board games. Not just Monopoly and Scrabble, but also those really niche boardgames that you may've heard about from your geekier friends. Great low-key atmosphere with wood-fired pizza and beers on tap, suitable for groups and children, day or night.
A. C.
We had takeaway gluten free pizzas. The crusts were overcooked, bordering on burnt, as the sauce was a good inch from the edge. On a normal wood fire pizza this would be perfect, but for gluten free - which doesn't rise anywhere near as much - it's not optimal.
However, they had a good range of pizzas and it looked like a cozy sort of place.
6.
Love the Idea,
Great choice of games, all of the 'Ticket to Ride' expansions, and food was good. We had the cheesy garlic bread to start, and I enjoyed it.
Loved the lavender Lemonade, so inventive.
Basically I love this place.
g.
Great place with a great atmosphere. Due to covid you have to pay $5 per person to play any games tho and can't touch the games unless you want to play them so reading descriptions and such is basically impossible.
J. H.
Great food the staff where lovely and they had a great variety of games for all ages, numbers and skill levels i will definitely be going back
P. K.
The Boardgame library here is quite good, there is a $3 cover charge to cover game wear and tear. They have a wood fired pizza oven and a reasonable menu. We went on a Saturday night and it was very busy. The menu is game themed with lots of game puns. The blue zombicide cocktail was sickly sweet and not very nice although it looked amazing.
S. D.
Lovely pizza. Really friendly and helpful staff. And we played an excellent board game over dinner. Great family night out.
b. m.
its an amazing family place, it literally feels like home. there's something for everyone, the boardgames is a plus for those who Intend to go with children.
I was very pleased your service.
H.
Very friendly staff and a unique experience where you can play board games while you eat. The food is great but bit slower than what I'm use to. That's not a problem though if you're immersed in the games.
s. s.
This was our first time at Guild, the service was fantastic and the food was served almost instantly. Food was very tasty and well cooked.
The board games add an extra element and service you don't get anywhere else.
B.
This is the only restaurant in Canberra where I can play and not fret about looking like an 'adult'
10/10 staff and food
The owners quite clearly love what they're doing, thank you for a fantastic birthday
A. F.
Great staff, grwat and unusual pizzas. Very very busy. Great for kids and adults with a huge variety of board games to play while you wait for your meal.
J. S.
Thanks had a good selection of games, blankets for warmth which is lovely for Canberra Winter. Cocktails were delicious. They also had vegan fritters, and are happy to make changes to pizzas, their vegetarian pizza without cheese was good.
L. S.
Awesome place we found by accident how lucky were we. We had two woodoven pizza's that were excellent and deserts and coffee to top it off. The real surprise was they have board games for you to play and when you look around the restaurant everyone was playing some sort of game.
R. S.
Not a moment too soon. Nothing could possibly be better than playing games and drinking fine local beer at the same time. Jeezus, I'm ruined for other venues, no longer have to sit bored listening to small talk while going out. Great idea, my local now.
Always going to be my #1 suggestion for any social outings.
Also interested to be taught more games, there's staff who'll actually set up and teach you the games. I've been interested in a bunch of games but couldn't be bothered buying or learning them, this is a great low commitment way to have a go. While being served beer and eating. Love it.
I. M.
Fantastic restaurant! Friends and I ate here while staying in Canberra for Cancon.
Great food menu (try the Caveman Pizza), extensive drinks menu. Staff were amazingly helpful and knowledgeable! The ordering records your seat at the table so split bills are easily sorted. Great range of games to play.
Only downside was the aircon was struggling, but that was on the end of a 36° day.
J. C.
Great place to dine. The food was reasonably priced and delivered very quickly. The bonus is all the games you get to play and the waiters are very knowledgeable to recommend games.
G. B. W.
I come here once a month for a mentoring session on a Sunday afternoon, the staff are always accommodating and clearly love games. Also the pizza is AWESOME. There’s usually a long wait for food on friday and saturday evenings, but with a game in front of you the time flies. Shoutout to Julian who is fantastic.
R. T.
Great food and atmosphere with a huge range of board games to chose from. Was good for drinks with mates and we'll be doing it again but also also looking forward to taking the kids here
G. Z.
Food was great, waiters were nice, and drinks came fast but 90min wait for fries and calamari because they were extremely busy over the long weekend. And the free game selection is very limited so expect to pay an extra $3 to get access to the rest of their LIbrary
L. P.
Amazing place for a function. We had a graduation party/formal. Incredibly accommodating staff, versatile venue (we had a dance floor), delicious food. Great night. Highly recommend.
J. A.
Took my sister and her family there for dinner. Great place for kids and those who enjoy social engagement over a game. The food was good quality nosh, and an expansive menu rounded it off nicely.
M. C.
This place is exactly what it says it is.
This is THE place to play board games and have dinner or a few drinks. Everything is costed quite well, and the food is exceptional. I keep hearing good things about the pizzas, but the Chicken Garden Salad is my favourite.
S. D.
Great selection of board games and the staff know the games well. Food is tasty enough to keep you playing the games although the banquet did not provide enough food for our group.
R. S.
Great food! Lots of pizza choices served hot and crispy. The games are fantastic. Could use a larger table surface.
M. R.
Great place to while away time playing virtually any board game under the sun. Very friendly staff who'll help you get started on unfamiliar games. Plus great selection of food, wine, beer and mocktails, including yummy vegan fritters.
J. E.
Really good food but the highlight is definitely the concept of board games in a cafe environment. Heaps of fun. Excellent idea for a dining experience with a difference.
L.
Games AND Pizza! What a wonderful idea! Probably one of the best places to chill in Canberra. We played Sushi Go and had a blast, try the Guildmaster and their potato wedges.
H. D.
Great place with plenty of games to choose from, it has become out default date night - we can easily get a meal and spend time together without a lot of fuss and plenty of new games to explore.
C. C.
Delicious! Pizza is nice! And the chocolate brownie is the worst kind of temptation, because you could order five helpings and still want more! I just wish they'd bring back the old version of the caveman with aoli!
Y.
Lovely atmosphere and an awesome idea. The range of board games they have is great but the pizza is never too great and always over priced. I would recommend the arancini balls.
N. S.
Visited for the 2 for 1 pizza lunch special on Tuesday. The pizza was great and staff super friendly. We'll be back for some games real soon!
C.
Great place all round! Awesome staff, amazing food and fun games! This family friendly restaurant is amazing for all ages and has games to cater to everyone's taste and skill level.
G. G.
Really tasty pizzas and lots of games to play. Great for a group of friends.
a. a. l.
Excellent food and the waiters are bubbly and helpful. Heaps of games to choose from which make the evening relaxed and fun. We will be coming back.
C. L.
Good food, excellent friendly service and a great range of quality games. Excellent value for money with a 2-for-1 pizza deal + $3 for unlimited games play.
D. M. J.
A very pleasent experience with many games to choose from. It has that sense of just having a bite to at your house with some mates playing a classic board game - a great place to go and have moreso than a place to eat but still such a great experience
C. H.
Absolutely fantastic experience! Warm welcoming staff with a good atmosphere. Especially impressed with the staffs general knowledge on the emence range of board games.
B. K.
Excellent place to incorporate a meal and a group or couple boardgaming session. Food pretty good, reasonable price. Great game selection and knowledgeable and friendly staff. Recommended
B. B.
I Played Power Grid with 5 friends and had a blast! Good wood fired pizza and super friendly staff. Will definitely be a return customer
D. H.
Concept of playing board games whilst enjoying a meal is a fantastic idea to bring family and friends together. Also helping breaking the ice for big groups/functions.
There is a $3 surchage for access to the library which is understandable to help as an "insurance" incase pieces go missing or damaged.
There is a selection of "breadstick" games which are free to play.
J. R.
This is an awesome place. The games are great, awesome selection, friendly staff, great drinks selection.. it loses a star for the food though. But other than that a fun time everytime!
R. A.
Great Food and a much Greater Service
Had a birthday meal with the family and asked the staff for a birthday cake and they pulled it off with a song and everyone was singing. Its one awesome experience added to the memory vault.
F. J.
Great place to hangout and play some boardgames during happy hour. The staff are helpful and are happy to explain how to play the games. The pizza is also yum!
B. S.
Excellent time! Pizza was delicious and the schnitzel was great! Good collection of beers and cocktails available and we had a grest time playing the games! Perfect
f. v.
Amazing, we played d&d the pizza is perfect and the owner is lovely.
M. C.
The pizza was quite tasty but the waitstaff seemed very inexperienced and struggled a lot with our order. I myself didn't get my meal until after the rest of my group had already finished theirs.
G. S.
Great fun! The menu seriously understand coeliac and allergies. The service is slow but it was very busy. The games are a great idea.
J. M.
Great service, good food, and fantastic concept. We went for dinner before the theatre but will definitely be back for dinner and a little something from the games menu! Loved it!
S. F.
Food is ok and there are a lot of board games to choose from. Good place for team gatherings when everyone can participate and have fun!
A. J.
A nice range of pizzas and food, but a bit of slow service. They had entertaining games to play at your table while you wait which was fun.
N. M.
Fun place to visit if you are new to Canberra. There is a fee to play a game. The pizza wasn't bad.
D. B.
I'm not a huge fan of the food there but this is a great place to go and hang out with friends and play a few board games. I recommend the wedges.
D. P.
One of my favorite places! The food is pretty good and the board game library is really impressive. Lovely staff 😊
N. O. (. O. P.
I think the food could improve, but the drinks and staff were wonderful.
Board games are great and it's a really welcoming and friendly place.
C. d. M.
Another lovely experience at Guild. Personal service by Pollux was delightful. Certainly up to Lachlan's standards..... you'll get there with game recommendations I'm sure.
R. T.
Great to see a Board Game Cafe doing well, and so many people of all ages there to enjoy it. Friendly wait staff, yummy pizza.
F. R.
Amazing selection of boardgames, friendly staff, great atmosphere. They have table service but you have to wave at them. No worries, lots of fun!
C. E.
Delicious pizza, great range of games with very helpful advice from the waitstaff. A good fun place to take the family.
H. L.
Very interesting restaurant. You can also play board games there, they have dozens of different board games you could play, there is a per person surcharge for playing games at dinner time, but no such surcharge at lunch time.
H. A.
Great all-round experience, no place like it.
If you want to learn a game the staff will help recommend and even help teach!
Drinks, dinner and games, and they do the cleaning!
Be sure to book!
M. M.
And another friday night down the drain it would seem. Andrew had me on the brink of defeat, my life total nearing 0, my heart rate approaching that of a humming bird. “Pathetic... 2nd place again” I thought to myself. And then I drew it... the top deck of the century... my beloved flametooth hellkite swoops in for a hastey 5 power attack to reduce my opponent to ashes! Hazaa! I have awarded 3 stars for the excellent service, however I just can’t bring myself to introduce you to mr. 4 and mrs. 5 after that late game scare.
J. S.
The waiters are happy to help you pick out the perfect board game. Food is top notch. Had lots of fun
D. M.
Very fun atmosphere with delicious food (but, y'all aren't the first board game restaurant in the world ;) Board and Brew in College Park, MD, USA opened at least a year before you!)
M. A.
Great atmosphere, awesome idea, staff are really friendly and helpful. The service can be pretty slow though, and the food is nothing to write home about. But makes for a great night out :)
C. M.
Pizza crust was tasty and crunchy but far too much sauce on the pizza for my liking. It made the rest of the pizza quite soggy. Overall taste was ok.
K. C.
Fun idea for a restaurant. Food not bad. Wide selection of board games
B. C.
Amazing staff, food is pretty good and the games selection is good aswell.
The booths are great and it's so relaxing on a weekend morning!
S. H.
My first time visiting and I had a great night, the food, drinks and service was good. Enjoyed the games. Ill be back again.
S. B.
Nice selection of beers. Plenty of games to play. Not just for those obsessed with board games, but also suitable for casual games. Nice food.
Y. A.
Really fun place to eat i never would of thought of it board games while eating!! Great staff always there to help you with a game if you don't understand it 😊😀
J. H.
Large portions of good food, and the strawberry lemonade was excellent.
Massive game selection, and the staff are always there to help teach you to play.
S. S.
Food is good quality, reasonably priced, large selection of food and games to play. A great way to spend several hours with friends or family.
S. R.
Never post reviews, this is my first time ever doing one and this place truly deserves the 5 stars, excellent pizzas at an affordable price point and tasty cocktails will definitely come back om my next trip to Canberra.
G. R.
The food is ok. They have the greatest range of board games and the staff are helpful and explain the game in case you dont know how to play.
P. R.
Fun place to hang out, drink tasty beer and eat pizza. Board game selection is broad and the service is great with an awesome atmosphere.
B. W.
Loooooove this restaurant! We come here with our games group and on dates. Staff are always quirky and fabulous, the food is fantastic, and the cocktails are brill.
K. G.
Very friendly but our preordered food took 1.5 hours to come out. Wait staff seemed inexperienced. We wanted to order more but couldn't get their attention.
P. B.
Service was somewhat disorganised and not confidence inspiring (e.g. "memorising" your order then coming back to confirm forgotten details) - however the food was well priced and tasty. Had a nice, warm atmosphere :)
D. W.
Awesome environment, every board game imaginable - good food & drinks including mocktails
Staff are great rule explainers and settlers of disputes :)
Worth going again!
M. M.
Always has excellent service and a huge range of games. Pizza and drinks are perfect for a nerdy gathering
N. B.
A awesome place for food, drinks and games.
Highly recommend the lavender Collins.
D. C.
Great idea - the games available to ply. Drinks are reasonable. Food is reasonable, but confusion over our dessert order had us cancelling.
A. S.
Good place to hang out and play board games in the city
T.
Food is great but gee I was in a group of 4 that were waiting for 1.5 hours for our orders. Check the busy times, otherwise food is top notch and good atmosphere with friendly staff.

R. C.
Great food and a very wide selection of games. Very unique experience, I recommend it for couples and groups!
J. K.
Pretty chill spot for board games! Unfortunately they have mirrors on every single wall, so people can cheat and see your hand if they really want to! Weird design idea lol.
T. C.
Great deal on Tuesday, 2 for 1, great stone baked pizza, fun atmosphere with many familiar board games to choose from.
C. M.
Great atmosphere and fantastic board games. The cocktail jugs are over priced considering how weak they are.
N. A.
If you like board games, this is the place for you. We went on a Tuesday night and they had a buy one get one free pizza night.
S. W.
Amazing! Food is great. Service could not be better. They offered for create menu for food allergy friend, and made her a custom cocktail.
R. M.
Foods great and if you're into board games you'll love it. Good selection of beers too.
C.
Our favourite place! What could be better than a woodfired pizza and a new game, whose rules the staff are all too happy to enthusiastically explain!
R. P.
This is a place for family or groups. I enjoyed playing childhood board games and was so engrossed that i didn't realise that I ate two pizzas and finished 2 pitchers of beer!
B. f.
Very friendly staff and lots of fun. Had a big group of about 30 for the Christmas party food came out quickly and was really good.
J. U.
Food is pricey and ok-good at best. Drinks very pricy but your kind of a captive audience at that point. Tables need to be bigger
C. T.
Food is nice. Wait staff are pretty attentive asking us what we wanted. Overall a good experience
A. V. W.
Wood fired pizza and beer. Was nice and warm inside and people had a good time playing all sorts of games at their tables.
S. H.
Pizzas are delicious but service is so slow. Not a great place to go on lunch breaks or on a time constraint.
N. P.
Good food, good range of beers to choose from and heaps of games to play while you eat and drink.
S. R.

B. S.
Good range of board games and a decent feed while you're playing too. Or just decent food if you're not up for a game.
B. “. D.
Very nice food, staff are very good with the games, but very poor table service for a dining venue.
C. F.
Games made the dining experience really fun. Excellent customer service.
