I have driven past here a number of times and I'd never taken much notice. We went for dinner with a friend and had a lovely evening. We ordered a couple of pizzas and they were delicious. A great balance of toppings and not overloaded. A great thin pizza base that offered a satisfying crunch. A great pizza spot.

The place is a bit small, but has some good ambience. Staff were attentive. The pizzas were good and the ingredients are very fresh. However, could use a bit more toppings for the price you pay as it's very little. The eggplant entre taste funny and a bit of a letdown. The winner for me is the canoli which I would come back for. 4 stars because of it, 3 stars without the canoli.

The service was wonderful and the staff were very accommodating with my food allergies. We ordered a variety of pizzas and they were all delicious. The 'Locale' pizza was my favourite. This is a nice cheesy pepperoni pizza that has a subtle 'blue cheese' kick from the gorgonzola. I will definitely be back.

For entrees, we had the arancini and calamari. Few pizzas and a pasta dish for mains and a few items on the dessert menu. The highlight of our experience were the entrees. The pizzas were good, but found the base too thin. The toppings fall off when you take a slice and have to eat it with a knife and fork. The spaghetti cacio e pepe was bland. The desserts were unfortunately a letdown. The bombolinis were dry, tortino al cioccolato was undercooked and mostly a pool of chocolate. Few dessert plates were left half-eaten. The service was good though I wouldn't recommend sitting a table of 5 in a small round table.

It's a nice place with a good vibe. Only shame is that we had to wait for the food for about 40 minutes, but can understand that because there were 5 of us and the place was packed. What a great little place..went there last night for a celebration graduation dinner and it was fantastic, the food was amazing followed by the service. Platters of antipasto, pasta and pizza came out and couldn’t fault anything. We took our own cake and that was cut and presented beautifully.. so impressed and will be returning..

Pizza was ok but Artigiana and Mamadough are better. Pizza wasn't cut properly so basically ruined it trying to cut it with a butter knife. Wasn't worth even trying to get the attention of cranky and aloof staff to cut it up or order a drink. At one point the waiter actually walked away mid sentence while I was talking to him and another rolled his eyes when we tried to get some water for the table. So disappointing as we had heard good things and were excited to try Locale out, but instead another Canberra restaurant where diners are treated like an imposition. Sigh.

Sensational food, had the calamari as entree and I’d have to say it’s probably the best calamari I’ve eaten and this is from someone that catches his own calamari, well done to the chef! Really really good pizza. Just located in the small shopping precinct of Deakin is a very good option for the area. Good range of drinks and nice little sides available if you're getting a lot of pizza and need something to do while you wait because phone orders can sometimes be a little tricky with them. Also will do a banquet menu and that is a lot of food. Will easily feed how many ever people you take. 4 stars because it's a little epensive. :)

I really enjoyed my experience there. We got there with no reservations and they got us a table outside. Because the heater was not enough, they promptly brought another gas one. Food was fast and delicious. Try the garlic and cheese pizza.

Looks great but if booking online you don’t receive your denied table / no booking available for 40 mins or so. We presumed it ok as could choose the time ( not blanked out as not available) got the no bookings avail email 50 mins or kept refreshing emails but too late too late......turned up ....and...no. We had an amazing lunch there yesterday. We tried a variety of dishes and they were all fantastic. We loved the garlic seafood hot pot and calamari fritti entrees. I had the spanner crab and Moreton bay bug risotto for main. Absolute cracker of a dish and generous serving. We'll be back for sure. Locale Pizzeria should be a must on your Canberra restaurant list. Nestled in the leafy suburb of Deakin, Locale quietly persuades its diners of quality food, service and overall experience. We wandered in on a Tuesday night and were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of pizza. Noteworthy was the gentleman who served us, a sommelier with a sense of humour. We told him what we felt like and he insisted on two specific dishes, paired perfectly with two Italian red wines. The overall experience was exceptional and you would do yourself a favour to check it out.

I've tried all of their desserts too and they are just incredible especially the tiramisu. Highly recommended for both a special night out and for cheeky takeaway. The cocktails we tried were OK, but we wouldn't get either of them again. The Sicilian in particular was very tart, with a lot of passionfruit in it. Couldn't taste the Green Chartreuse at all. The pizzas were all very tasty. On the whole not quite the value for money we were expecting, but we'd go again.

YUM! Perfect Service, the staff were attentive, fun and relaxed. They didn't rush us out even though we were the last remaining diners. I also loved the music! Unfortunately, the staff tended to be a little over-enthusiastic toward each other with hugging and high-fiving as each team member arrived - there seemed to be more staff than customers and this was distracting. Perfect restaurant for a social night out. They have heaters and the tables outside are heated, to my unexpected surprise. I ordered the Gamberi pizza and the sauce was delicious, there could have been more toppings, as I felt that was a bit lacking but it was almost a perfect balance. The crust was triggering my existential crisis, why have I not had something this well made before. Amazing work guys, service was exceptional and the waiter continued to fill up our glasses of water continually for the duration I'll of our visit. Perfect 5/5*

Had a mid-week lunchtime simple Bolognese here with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Great menu and wonderful dining environment. A little upscale with an air of fine dining perfect for lunch or dinner to celebrate work events (farewells, milestones etc) or a safe bet to take friends as you will have a good experience. Only a minor criticism - I would have given 4.5 stars if possible as the prices are a little expensive ($28 for lunchtime Bolognese) and the lunchtime special I was after was sold out after it being recommended to me moments earlier. Tiny critiques - overall an excellent Italian lunch experience.
