One of the best pizzas in Melbourne. As someone who loves meat, I invariably get their veggie pizzas (like zucchini or broccoli) which are just excellent! Sometimes can be a bit loud with all the chat and the music but never disappointed with the food!

Came here and ordered the Margherita and the pepperoni spicy pizza. The food was fantastic and atmosphere was great. Awesome date night spot. Food was a little pricey but very tasty, my pizza was $26. Only issue was, when asked what water we would like "normal or sparkling", i was unaware that the sparkling would cost extra. Other than that I would definitely return. My recommendation: The Margherita pizza

The pizza was SO SO GOOD. The perfect dough according to me, thick and soft around and thin in the middle. I took the eggplant, pesto, mozzarella and pine nuts one and it was delicious. The gnocchi were also very tasty. The staff is friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere. The music was a bit too loud for me, it makes it difficult to talk but other than that all was perfect.

This place is so awesome! Me and my wife had the gnocchi of the day, which was pesto and the pizza of the day, which was a spicy and sweet pepperoni. Both were amazing and so was the service - would definitely come back.

Close to being a perfect pizza, this is pretty darn good. Great dough, great sauce, fresh ingredients. The only negative is that the crust is so thin, the pizzas become quite wet and soupy in the centre. I like to pick up a slice and have it maintain structural integrity, not flop into oblivion and have the ingredients slip off onto the plate. A slice should hold together under a load, including its own weight, without breaking or deforming excessively. This ensures the slice can perform its designed function during reasonable use, for as long as its intended life span - which is really not very long because when I see a slice I want to immediately jam in down my gob so that I can commence the digestion process.

Found SPQR about 3 years ago by the power of Google and so glad we did!! Was on our way back from Dromana and both felt like woodfire pizza. Did a standard Google search for "best woodfire pizza in Melbourne" and SPQR popped up being ranked as #1. Even after 3 years, we still talk about that 1st time at SPQR when we had the gnocchi special and pepperoni pizza with extra pepperoni. Cannot remember how many times we've ate here in total whether it's just the 2 of us, with friends, or celebrating something with family in the last 3 years. How many times did SPQR disappoint us or food/service was below expectations?? NONE. Come and try it for yourselves, I promise you won't regret it.

In the World Class best Wood Fired Pizza both Vegan and Not. The server was so helpful in making our decisions. Our group of 5, chose 6 pizzas. It was hard to narrow it down to just 6! Each pizza was wonderful and wonderfully different in its own right. We completely enjoyed our visit. Check out the art on the walls. They contracted with local artists and you'll find yourself walking the restaurant. Excellent!

I always get SPQR pizza delivered because hubby love their truffle and potato pizza 🍕 I always like to try different pizzas and its always pretty good, although sometimes I find the base a bit soggy. On this occasion we ordered the truffle and potato pizza (of course), the meatball pizza (a bit watery), the marinara (no! No seafood! Not THAT type of marinara). What I loved about the marinara is that what seemed like a very very plain ingredients but the flavours were quite pronounced. I think it was the fresh garlic (so beware! Maybe it isn’t date night material!). Also got their garlic bread, although I found that quite oily, and also the tiramisu was delish.

Called this place up last minute as the restaurant we were at did not accomodate for my GF, no onion/garlic diet despite their website saying they have GF. Staff were so lovely here and advised of all the dishes suitable for me, whereas, the last place made fun of me as we were leaving. No one should ever feel like they are a burden because of their health issues.

1st Saturday Night after LD 6, & SPQR was a great choice. Pizza Funghi, flavoursome with the pecorino topping. Pizza Margerita is what you'd expect, mozzarella & saucy tomato with a bubble chewy dough, sooo delicious. We'll be back to try the Oven Baked Gnocchi next visit.Thanks Guys!!!

We went here on a Friday for a team lunch and had a variety of pizzas and gnocchi. They were full when we got there and we were glad we booked a table prior. They had both red and white pizza bases which were light and tasty although they are on the more expensive side for a pizza at $24+ . Gnocchi also good, portion sizes for everything were around medium. Great place for a Friday lunch.

Brilliant pizza joint near Punch Lane. Lively, noisy and edgy with a DJ spinning Friday and Saturday nights, sometimes on Thursdays too. Pizzas are first class, as are the wines. Highly recommended, just don't expect to have a quiet meal!

We have been searching high and low, visited the renowned Gradi restaurant and finally found the holy grail of pizza. SPQR has been able to recreate our Italian food experience in a single bite. Absolutley superb!!

I was really looking forward to having a good meal and chat with friends here and although the pizza was magnificent the ambiance was severely marred by the loud ( questionable ) music of a DJ. Everyone at every table was shouting to be heard over the music to be heard which only added to the din. Wait service was ordinary. Menu on the wall was hard to see. Everything was far too expensive like $12 for a glass of red out of a goon bag. Won't be returning.

One of my favourite pizzerias in Melbourne. It has a strange vibe, in a good way. Funky but intimate. Turntables and sometimes a DJ, yet dimly lit and comfortable. Staff are always friendly and helpful, with good cocktail suggestions and a fun attitude. Drinks list is a good length with good options. House Sangiovese is pretty decent. Now the pizza. Italian style, with few ingredients. I believe the one of the most important things about a pizza is the dough. Their overnight fermented sourdough bases have such a beautiful flavour and texture that all you need is a bit of tomato and mozzarella to enhance the flavour. I have had a couple pizzas with the center of the base soggy so that can be a bit disappointing. I find SPQR a good, consistent place to go for pizza that is as good as in Naples.

Best pizzeria! SPQR is set on a laneway in the heart of the CBD in a typical Melbourne fashion. The menu is quite simple yet authentic. It's a great place for a quick dinner after an event in the city. We ended up here after going to another place first and getting annoyed from the service, but it worked out for the best for sure! We ordered the Pepperoni and the Hey Pesto. Both were delicious, we couldn't fault them. Will be back for sure!

As Italian I must admit that I had one of the best pizzas in my life! 100% napolitan style. I could feel that the dough was well rested, in fact I digested without any issues during the night. My partner and I have been searching far and wide for the best Neapolitan pizza in Melbourne. We’ve been to every popular place. DOC, 400 Gradi, lazerpig, +39, 48H, A25, Baby... anyway you get the point. We’ve finally found the best! We base it all off the dough, those crusts have got to be soft and squishy and the base with very few toppings. Great vibe, great music, great staff. Angus always seems to have a good chat with us, and genuinely makes us laugh every time. Only downside is a few times the pizza has been slightly burnt on the bottom. But overall it’s incredible! Would recommend SPQR for the pizza lovers out there.

Fascinating! Quick and friendly service, first they got us five a table even though booked out from the next hour, then four pizzas took less than 15 minutes to serve. The pizza deserves a review itself, the base is tasty, soft, and the border crunchy, I would happily eat ir plain with olive oil. All pizzas we tried tasted amazing, with the right touch of spice, cheese and sauce, preserving the main flavours. No pictures for this review as my photography skills won’t stand up for this place. Looking for the best pizza in Melbourne CBD, you'll find it here at SPQR. Great idea in having a red base and white base menu, makes it easier for people with allergies and dietary requirements to choose! SPQR is generally quite busy, but we were luckily enough able to be seated without a reservation as we turned up a bit earlier for dinner.

We've been coming here for nearly a year and constantly leave saying how lucky we are this is our local pizza restaurant. Run by the sweetest staff, who sure know how to make you feel welcome, you're guaranteed to have the best pizza in Melbourne if you make it here! A lot of the pizza toppings (veges and herbs) are homegrown by the owners and their parents...and like another reviewer has said...once you've placed your order they arrive pronto...which is great when dining with hungry little ones! There are two high chairs for little ones. The only thing needed now is for their long awaited liquor license to come through!

Me and my brother came here on our first night in Melbourne recommended by a bartender at a place we were previously at. The manager/owner was a legend. Incredible service and the pizzas were unreal. We went before going to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. We chose a GF base and it was amazing; best GF pizza we've ever had - by miles! The base was lovely and smoky being woodfired. The toppings are fantastic; so many to choose from and such wonderful genuine Italian ingredients. We had to ask for translations on many of them. Pizza arrived fast, and perfect. Bliss!

It's woodfired pizza, great crust, thin base and a big price tag for a small pizza. It's a good pizza but I can get a good woodfired pizza from slices doreen at the same prize but twice the size. Received a call 30 mins later saying there was a table for us if we were in and out in a reasonable time. The staff recommended two excellent pizzas, and the house beer was nice. If you have the time to wait while ten pizzas are sent out the door for a delivery scooter before your order goes in the oven then you probably won't find a tastier wood fired pizza in the Melbourne CBD. It is busy at lunchtime and busier with the deliveries. Get in early. Staff are nice. We will have to work our way through the menu so will return. Wine list looks good and reasonably priced.

I really enjoyed your pizza, gnocchi and the coffee and tea. It is great to see you freshly bake the pizzas using a high quality sourdough flour. Lovely staff as well...will difinitely come back sometimes soon. Tough competition to 400 gradi :) My only feedback is don't expect your guests to read the food and desserts menus from the wall. Plead have a written menu like in the other places. In addition, be a bit more generous with the portion of your dishes, especially the gnocchi.

If you want authentic Italian Pizza not the typical Aussie style then this is the place. A great pizza coupled with a nice Chianti, just perfect. I am an older guy and for me this place lost a star because of the music. Modern club music does not quite fit the rest of the experience. Having said that I will be back.

This is good pizza! While I dispute ‘straight out of Naples’ slogan, nothing beats Naples pizza if you’ve every tried it, this place has a delightfully diverse choices of pizza and good wine. Staff are hospitable and friendly, I loved the atmosphere of the place and the pizzas were cooked beautifully in the wood fire oven. Now, as for Dessert, this place wins hands down for their Tiramisu, it’s fresh, it’s balanced beautifully with cream so the coffee isn’t so over powering. But be warned, its huge! Had I known, I’d have shared it instead of everyone ordering their own dessert.The Nutella pizza for the kids was delightful too. Definitely worth booking, we only just managed to grab a seat despite arriving early. Will definitely rate this place as the best place to get wood fire pizza in Melbourne CBD.

The last one was the pork with fennel and porchini shrooms in a cream sauce drizzled with truffle oil. It was simply the greatest dish I have ever eaten! Oh the pizzas are nice too btw. Have been here 3 times so far and I think I've found my favourite pizza place. Haven't had a disappointing meal here yet. Fairly priced too considering we always walk out full. $56 between two people (no alcohol) is a cheap eat if you ask me. /10 would go again & again & again

A fantastic place to go to, to get a good quality pizza at a good reasonable price! The staff are gorgeous and friendly, n they look after you well. Their menu range is fantastic and they have a dessert pizza - nutella pizza (and couple other desserts too). I had the nutella pizza for dessert - which had REAL nutella thickly spread on and strawberries spread around and was soooo good! I had this after the lovely Tartufo pizza which was delicious! Their drinks menu is also fabulous. I'll mention they have some non-pizza foods too of a delicious range. They even have an amazing dj playing there and great music! Being Italian, I can be seen as an authority in terms of pizza. In my view, the pizza here is great! The dough is perfect. If you split open the crust, it smells like bread which is exactly as it supposed to be. The pizza bufalina with bufala mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and basil is very good. However, the highlight is the Tiramisu. You can taste the mascarpone and it is perfectly blended between all other ingredients. It's hands down the best tiramisu I ever had in Australia. The place is funky with great graffiti wall and background music with a resident DJ. The only down side is that it can get expensive quickly but it's still cheaper than flying to Roma. So, I am going to give it a 5 🌟 review and can't wait to go back for more!

Great little pizzeria in the city. Service was fast and friendly. Casual, chilled, laid-back vibes. You can also get a slice of pizza takeaway. Would recommend making a reservation if you want to eat in as it gets busy and avoids having to wait. Not a huge menu but has all the classic style pizzas you need as well as a choice of red or white based pizza. They also have some daily specials which include a pasta choice but I'd definitely recommend getting the pizza, it's too good to miss! The dough was really nice, so good you'll eat the crust too. Toppings are generous and tasty.
