One of the best pizzas in Sydney if not the best! Went to bed still thinking about the pizza…
Friendly service and the food came out nice and quick. The base of the pizza was thin, the outer edges chewy and thick. My favorite was the potato pizza with added guanciale. You can watch them mix the dough right in front of you before putting it into the wood fired oven. The caponata was also a perfect non-carby appetizer and the tiramisu was delicious as well - had a lovely biscuit to cream ratio.
Drinks were also delicious - highly recommend the Hugo’s elderflower spritz or passion fruit spritz.
H. L.
The best pizza in Sydney. I expected to love the clam one, but while it was yummy the one that blew me away was the cavelo nero. Sensational.
The dough has a wonderful texture that is part chewy, part light, part crispy. Everything on their pizza is considered, and it shows. It’s expensive but what do you expect? This is posh pizza and it’s totally worth it.
The venue is super chic and hip too, with great beers and wines. Not much else to say, it’s epic
K. D.
This place gets quite busy, so make sure to make a booking if you have your heart set on trying the food. The pizza is phenomenal, my favourite is the Pepperoni but the Clam is also a standout. Wood-fire pizzas with a great crust
J. W.
Best pizza in Sydney. Not really sure what else there is to say. The sausage and kale pizzas are our personal favourites but the clam is also incredibly popular and unique.
T. H.
We got the pepperoni pizza as part of world pizza day. They were so swamped and still super efficient and really lovely service! Will definitely be going again 😊

perfetto
/a [perˈfetto ] adjective. (gen) perfect. (silenzio, accordo) complete ⧫ total. Hard to find any fault, just beautiful to eat and you will always remember how wonderful. It is like a healthy narcotic, and you will come back.

Ordered 2 pizzas (clam and mortadella), a little on the pricier side in my opinion. I think the mortadella taste better than the clam (despite many reviews raving about the clam pizza). Delivery was very quick which is a plus.
M. C.
Stunning pizza - perfectly charred, bubbly crust and a crispy base that holds the toppings extremely well. Whether you're eating with knives and forks or fold and bite, you're in for a treat.
C. C.
Amazing pizza. Definitely potato pizza is a standout. It's a must try for everyone.
E. K.
Loved this place. We have ordered 4 different pizzas and couple appetizers, they were all very good.
Service was great as well!
One of the must go in Newtown.
Book your table early, place is very popular so the booking gets filled days before.
G. K.
This place have converted a pasta lover to pizza! Everything was so good. Definitely give the clam pizza a go. Entrees are sooo good as well. Highly recommend the roasted onion and leek, the zucchini flower gnocchi with feta filling. We have a great great meal!

My four friends and I went to Bella Brutta today for the first time and were absolutely blown away with the exceptional customer service! The music added a nice vibe, but was low enough to have a conversation with your friends wasn’t too loud, the food was delicious not one fault! We will definitely be coming back!☺️
이.
Yummy pizza. I've visited here because of my friend's recommendation. It was good. Particularly I liked potato pizza. Clam pizza is also tasty. But I cannot feel the flavour of clam. Only texture. Even it was, still yummy. Also burrata I think it would be better to serve with something such as tomato or herbs or sth can give texture or flavour. I wanna try other pizza as well. Thank you. It was pleasure.

We arrived around 7:15pm without a booking and were lucky enough that two people were just leaving from the window seat and the waiter was happy to give it to us.
The menu is relatively small, focussing on classic Italian dishes with a few modern twists.
We ordered bread, 2 smaller dishes, a salad & a pizza for two and by the end of the meal were sufficiently stuffed without feeling like I needed a lie down.
The pizza dough was perfect, burnished edged, and a soft chewy interior. We opted for the potato pizza and added Guanciale. I don’t think the $9 add on for the Guanciale was worth it, the pizza was delicious though and I would definitely get it again, just without the Guanciale.
The iceberg salad was possibly the best iceberg salad I have ever had. The coarse black pepper hidden throughout the salad was the best surprise.
J. Y.
Sorry that the pictures are blurry because I screenshotted them from a video I recorded, but this is by far the best pizza place I have ever been to! My partner and I went here tonight and Sam our waiter is a legend! He showed us great customer service and helped us with the menu and also offered to top up with tap water and also my partners beer. Also, great vibe and atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back here again! 👍🏻😎
R. C.
Loved the place, the pizzas are amazingly good and service was great. This really jumped up to the top of the list of my favourite pizza places in Sydney. I recommend booking ahead as it gets busy. The food was good from the entrees: the bread was amazing and the dish with salami and chili was very good. Some of my friends tried the clam pizza and loved it, but I heard opinions about it are polarised. All the flavours I tried were good and I surely recommend.
L. C.
Had the pizza special of the day (zucchini & squash) - it was so delish! Wonderfully combined with citrusy and creamy flavours. Also tried the clam pizza which was on the spicy side but delicious nonetheless. We also had the watermelon mocktail which had lovely light kombucha vibes.
The only downside was that the pizzas cooled down too quickly due to the weather, maybe should be served with pizza warmers some other shops have (trays which tea light candle attached at the bottom) during cool weather.
C. L.
Beautiful restaurant with an intimate yet social and vibrant atmosphere. I loved the clam pizza which was super unique and tasty. A classic neapolitan style pizza, although I prefer a chewier crust and this was on the crunchy side, it was still delicious.
N. L.
This place is my favourite restaurant for pizza hands down. Each time I have eaten here the food has been consistent and worth every dollar. Their menu is short and simple and everything on it is quality. Not only is their pizza the best I have ever had the arancini balls are a must have and if you like canoli's they are on a next level also. Can't wait to come back again shortly
R. R.
Clam pizza was really good.. always a fave.. tried cavolo nero.. that was tasty too. We also had the kingfish sashimi and green beans, both were really nice. Really good food!
Wine was around $80 a bottle, and it’s pretty good skin contact wine. Was easy to drink. Tiramisu was really good.
Staff were friendly and great service. We can pay separately straight from the machine.
Overall great experience. I always recommend Bella brutta to friends.
The place is almost always busy, they accept walk-ins (for 2 people are easier) but for party more than 2, it’s best to reserve your table to avoid long wait.
M. T.
We got their burrata with bread and butter, which was super delicious. The sourdough was a huge cut, very chewy texture and has a good sour flavor. The burrata was also very creamy however it was a very small serving for the price, hence the lower rating.
Their cannoli was so indulgent and the cream was very delightful. Would recommend!
The lemonade drink was absolutely refreshing, I would totally recommend this drink if you’re feeling something non alcoholic.
Keen to try their pizza next time!
E. T.
I will start with this: Clam pizza is a must-order. Great combo of taste and I can't have enough of it. The lady that served us was really friendly and gave us a brief description on the menu and how we can share some of the items on the menu. I enjoyed most of the food we ordered. The salami platter is good too.
S. M.
The pizza is absolutely amazing here. Proper woodfired deliciousness! Easily one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten was the potato pizza pictured below with rosemary and garlic. The flavour was unreal!
A. N. (.
Decent pizza, but not worth a detour. They have an interesting selection of pizzas to choose from, including your typical margherita (which you pay extra to add cheese to) to your more atypical mortadela and olives.
Overall the service was pleasant and so was the ambiance, but the pizza was only okay. Expect a fired pizza, that doesn't have a flop but is also not crispy. The sauce is neutral (neither sweet or savory) and is the lowlights of the pizza. The cheese on the other hand is the highlight, great balance of taste, chewiness and stretchiness.
S. B.
Great pizza. The crust is thin and the pizza a little bit burnt to increase flavour. Loved the potato pizza.. the ts fantastic. Overall, I'll give it a ten as this is now my favourite pizzeria! The volume of the music is a bit high for me but maybe it's just me as nobody else seemed to mind. Overall, it's a great pizzeria in a very funky setting!
I. T.
Popular spot so make a booking to avoid disappointment.
Staff are very helpful if you are not sure what you want to have.
I only tried the pizzas this time but will come back for other dishes as they looked good.
Pizzas were very good, some of the best I’ve had. Base was thin but chewy. Sauces were very tasty but not overpowering.
Will visit again.
L. M.
Great place for some chilled vibes and great food. Was highly recommended by a few friends. The go to was the Potato pizza and the Ricotta canoli. They were absolutely right on those 2 items. Service was amazing from the staff. Very attentive and made sure we were all fine. Would go back again and couldn't help but take a canoli back home.
K. I.
"Beautiful ugly" (Bella Brutta) is about right. If you like your pizza whispy light and wafer like topped, head elsewhere....here, the pizza base is loke an Israeli Laffa, or something like the doughiest naan in India. Its yummo, but takes some getting used to. The meats, cheeses, service and other bits are all spot on. They know where to put their feet in this place. Its a well olive oiled machine. The ugly part is the deliberately heavy char on the pizza. Pizza is never and everyday food, but this feature is definitely an oncological quandary...it probably won't give you cancer, but it sure won't prevent it.
P.
Booking are must and worth planning g ahead for a good time all around.
I’m a big fan of this range if casual almost fine dining. It’s fun, relaxed and very delicious.
Food ordered:
Grilled octopus, pepperoni pizza, olives, arancini.
Arancini - tiny bite size morsels of delicious gooey cheese, I do wish they were bigger!
Octopus - tender and smoky. Lathered in olive oil and herbs.
Olives - big variety of types, warm and a great starter.
Pizza - chewy crispy thing crust that was perfect. I did want slightly more cheese but the pepperoni was great and the fennel seeds made every bite enjoyable.
Ambience:
The service is excellent. Very friendly and informative and attentive .
It’s a great cozy space that has a great feel when filled and lets you see some pizzas being made.
Will be back!
A. S.
Full flavoured crisp base with simple delicious fillings. Staff friendly and efficient. While the online ordering app gives times to the nearest minute, don't expect the kitchen to be on the dot (not unexpected as they are buzzing).
J. W.
One of the best pizzas in Sydney!! The clam and also the sausage pizzas were amazing 😁
Highly recommend.
C. C.
Delicious, well-executed pizzas spiked with heaps of flavour. The nibbles and shared plates are a bit small to be so pricey, but tasty nonetheless. The signature clam pizza is garlicky and revelatory. The addition of fennel seeds to pepperoni pizza elevates the classic flavour combination to another level. The pizza special - potato, rosemary, gorgonzola - was a standout that deserves a permanent place in the menu. Caving to the cheery staff, we finished the evening with a pair of serviceable, no-nonsense cannoli.
E. B.
about as fresh as any wood fire pizza that comes out of the oven can get! :-) the waitress who served us was very attentive and made a great effort to ensure that we were well looked after. the clam pizza is phenomenal, literally melts in your mouth! all in all, a great pizza joint on king and will definitely be back in the future!
W. L.
The best pizza I’ve ever had and I’ve had a fair few in my time. Perfectly bright with citrus/acid to balance the heaviness of the fat and carbohydrates. The freshness and quality of the ingredients shine through too.
Pizzas are the star of the show but sides are pretty good as well. Had the fried squid, fresh, golden and crispy, not greasy at all.
R. C.
Limited menu, but everything is great. Enjoyed the potatoes on pizza for the first time. Pizza crust is perfectly baked and cheese tastes so good. Recommended!
D. M.
Don’t hesitate - book a table immediately! The best addition to King Street in a long time! Awesome service, cool atmosphere and where do I even begin to describe how good the food is! No joke - WOW! The green tomato entree or the mortadella pizza will leave you CRAVING more. We started with two pizzas and ended up ordered another plus tiramisu! Awesome wine list and glad that I only live 150m because this is my new local favourite!
L. L.
Had the best pizza experience (:
Food was really great (clam pizza 😍) and the server was amazingly kind/helpful. My group had like a hundred of questions but she was super professional. (Think her name’s Dominic)
Eggplant/ zucchini flower dishes were amazing and Canoli’s the must.
Defo will visit again!
M. V.
Fantastic pizzas. Bases are not too thin nor too thick. Perfect for sharing. We also sampled their poached octopus with salsa verde and sliced beef with burrata.
What topped a fantastic meal was their tiramisu. Not soggy, not too heavy on the coffee/alcohol and it had an interesting nuttiness texture. Highly recommend!
K. T.
Clam pizza was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in Sydney. Absolutely fkng delicious. Staff were super knowledgeable and friendly. This is a restaurant I will go to again and again.
D. F.
The menu here is small and mains predominantly consist of pizza however everything we tried was very well prepared and tasted great. Waitress recommended we order 3-4 starters and 2 pizzas... we ordered 2 starters and 1 pizza and could barely finish what we had.
C. F.
Perfection does not do Bella Bruta justice. It not lived up to the hype and expectations, but exceeded them by a very wide margin, albeit with a subtlety that was also present in the perfectly balanced flavour of the pizza itself.
The service was great, and the clam pizza itself was not only the best seafood pizza I’ve ever had, but is the best pizza I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating.
It was perfectly imperfect; filled with nuances of tender, father-light but still structurally robust dough that supported, and harmonised with all the toppings. This is the hallmark of a good neo-Neapolitan style pizza, however each slice had a crust that was unique and special, with small variations that meant each bite was a slightly different but equally coherent union of textures and flavours.
Going beyond the composition of the pizza, the individual ingredients were of unrivalled quality and were faultless.
Yeah can’t believe I’ve lived within a 10 minute walk of Bella bruta for 3 years and this is the first time I’ve actually been. I will be back and that day can’t come soon enough.
V. H.
Great pizzas, been wanting to come here for a while and so glad we did, awesome pizza so many options, there starters are insane.
A. B.
Best pizza I’ve had in Sydney. Maybe Frank is my second favorite. The Cavolo Nero was a surprising delight. Salads were great too!
J.
Nice venue, good pizza, on the expensive side for its quality.
Limited choice menu, pizza burnt on underside (oven not being cleaned regularly), wine being sold at 4 times mark up.
Wouldn't be rushing back.
T. L.
I'd come back for the clam pizza, but the potato pizza is surprisingly good. Service is great and the pizzas are delicious. They've got the right vibe for a drink or two or more. Can't fault anything.
E. S.
Bella Brutta is a pizza and wine bar. With only five pizza’s on the menu they let quality and simplicity shine in their ingredients and pizza dough. Oven baked fish is also available and a good selection of interesting sides and salads. The wine list has a natural direction, it is concise and good. The only drawback being there are no economical wines on the list. The canniloni and bombolini are delicious
O. Y.
We went there on a Tuesday night and oh my wasn't it busy! We went in without a reservation and we were lucky to find a seat for two. We sat at the marble bar and it was lovely.
The service was impeccable, very attentive and informative staff.
We ate 2 pizzas: pepperoni and mortadella. Both were just amazing. We ended up even eating the sides of the pizza which are normally tasteless, but these ones were really tasty!
The wine selection was very thorough and we ended up trying a Shiraz from McLaren Vale. It ended up being the right choice..
We ordered cannoli and espresso to wrap it up. The cannoli wasn't too sweet, perfect for our taste. The dough was fried a little too much that I could still taste it which would've been better with less frying. The coffee was also great.
Couldn't recommend it more! Now I know why it's always busy and why you definitely need a reservation! Will definitely go again and again..
P.
Was a little bit hungry and wanna try their tiramisu for long, therefore visit Bella Brutta around four to five on Sunday. At that time there was plenty of seats available. Staffs were super nice and attentive. Their pizza base was good but was salty and really pricy. I love tiramisu but not quite like the way they put the nuts in it.
L. P.
My favourite regular pizza joint!
Love the specials and the regular menu.
Thanks guys
M. J.
Delicious pizzas! Definitely get the clam pizza!
N. G.
Wow this place has some of the best pizza in Sydney. The clam pizza is to absolutely die for. Everyone must try it! I’ve never experienced such fresh and delicious toppings, can’t recommend this place enough.
R. B.
This place has ruined pizza for me. The entrees are great too. The music is a bit loud for easy conversation but that might be because I am old.
E. Y.
It's good and service is nice. Clam pizza is too sour for me. If they can less/no lemon, it would be nicer. Restaurant is really hot by woodfire oven. I felt dough is bit dried.
P. N.
Stick to the pizzas, they are the real deal! The clam is definitely worth trying.
Edit Apr 20: COVID19 Pick up service is okay. Ordering app said 15-30min, but actual time was 50min. Better call to get a more accurate ETA. Food still good.
Edit Dec 19: the sausage pizza is my new fav
T. B.
Simply the best pizza you'll get in Sydney. The dough has magic in it, the toppings are simple but if dazzling quality and they have a great wine and cocktail list. Would expect nothing less of the guys behind LP's Quality Meats.
A. T.
Very nice pizza and some of the friendliest and most attentive wait staff I've ever seen. If you're anywhere near Newtown and need a real Italian pizza you can't go wrong here. I love the fact they charge for sparkling water once for the whole table and kept refilling until we left.
A. L.
Perfect as always. They are accepting dine-in now but need to reserve a table online as early as possible.
R. B.
My group of 7 recently went to Bella Brutta to celebrate a special occasion - it didn't disappoint. We ordered 7 pizzas, each of which were delicious. The crust is an absolute star, with textures of crispy and stretchy; it was thin yet sturdy enough to support the toppings and flavourful oils. Even if we ordered 7 pizzas, they all came out hot, and we didn't have to wait an obscenely long time.
Bella Brutta sources its meats from LP Quality Meats and this difference really shines, particularly when you order the Mortadella, Sausage, Pepperoni and Potato (with added guanciale) pizzas.
Service is fast and friendly - based on the two times I've been here.
My only criticism is the Margherita pizza, which I felt could have used a lot more basil leaves, but this is me.
4 1/2 stars
O. C.
Really good pizza. Here we have the clam and the special of the season 4 cheese and truffle.
Recommend 👌🏻👌🏻
C. R.
Great vibes, friendly staff, excellent wine list and simple tasty food. Fun dinner spot on King St to hit up to begin the night. Will definitely be back !
O. L.
Amazing venue and food! Can’t complain with the delicious pizza, definitely worth to travel to Newtown for this
T. L.
First thing to make sure is to book table in advance because they get quite busy during weekends. We walked in and waited 40 minutes as they were fully booked at that moment.
On the other side, staff is helpful and attentive as they make sure we got the best experience by recommending which dish should go with. We ordered the mortadella pizza and it was perfect in taste. Good portion size so great for big groups. The burrata was definitely bursting with flavours - accompanied with bread and olive oil.
The only downside is the music was very loud and you barely can talk much in this vibrant environment. Food is a little pricey which you can expect from a near city location. However I think it would be great for gatherings and celebrations as I saw many big groups of people enjoying at the time of dining.
J. W.
The best pizza ever had , had a great time there, amazing food and friendly staff. Make sure you books as it’s can get very busy. Even better if they can put some heater in the back yard.
j. C.
Came here for dinner and everything was so delicious! The clam pizza and the ricotta starter was so good. I loved the simple peach arugula salad we had as well. Will come back again!
N. L.
Went on a Thursday night, atmosphere was lovely. Great service, staff were really attentive. Food was delicious. Would highly recommend.
J. k.
The best pizza I ever had. Lovely staff as well.
Definitely coming back.
V. P.
Extremely cordial people!
We had a goat cheese/parmiggiano croquet that was amazingly tasteful.
Now let's discuss my favourite topic: pizza!
You can find here a short selection of pizzas, which is a thing that I appreciate. Usually, short menus are guarantees an attent selection of the ingredients and their freshness.
The dough is well made, the tomato passata is tasty and with the right balance sweetness/acidity. I appreciate the trick of using fresh and good EVO oil one the plate; it played a good role in enhancing the bouquet of flavours.
Only one con: I know that keeping the pizza in the oven a bit longer guarantees the perfect cooking of the dough but all the pizzas come a bit burnt on the crust and on the back.
I understand that is a question of tastes, and maybe it meets the gouts of your clients but, still, that makes the execution not "ad artem".
Anyway well done, i really enjoyed your pizza marinara!!!
M. S.
Had a great dinner last night. Pizza was amazing and the wine was great to match. Would definitely be back and would recommend.
R. P.
Best pizzas in Sydney
R. M.
The first time I had this pizza i thought it was amazing. The base was delicious the toppings were great! The second time I went I asked for a pizza without cheese they said they’d wouldn’t do it and listed a couple pizzas they could do without cheese. Might seem dumb to ask for pizza without cheese but it’s quite common in Italy.
It seems like this place has peaked a couple years ago. Worth a first visit but with a limited menu probably not with a second visit.
K. o.
One of the best pizzas money can buy. The mortadella pizza is a standout. Sides are small in portion. Good service. A near close 5 stars.
L. F.
The only thing better than the food was Dominique 😍. Amazing attitude, knowledgeable, great recommendations and made us feel so welcome. Will be back!
M. G.
Fantastic pizzas you wouldn't get anywhere else and the service is outstanding.
M. F.
Just eat here, seriously good pizzas. Mortadella & olive pizza is heaven.
K. K.
Delicious and funky! Their pizza is to die for — one of the best in Sydney
S. L.
Loved it! If you are hesitating because you need to book, just do it, it's so worth it. We had the potato pizza with guanciale and every bite of it was different and somehow perfect. The staff is also great we felt well looked after. Will definitely be back.
K. K.
Better late than never! My waitress Katie (I think?) was a perfect server. Friendly and went above and beyond for our big group there for a bday. Great wine selection and will be back for sure.
V. S.
Best pizza in Newton and might be in whole Sydney. We have been here three times and looking forward to come again. Last time we tried not only pizza but salad 🥗 celery with parmesan. And you know it was blast💥💚
The stuff always friendly and helpful. And don't forget a dessert 😜 Tiramisu highly recommended here.
P. E.
Coming from a Melbournian that is spoilt with 400 gradi world champion, these guys are guns!
The pizza goes down spot on, ingredients are spot on! Anyone that complains about $20 or $30 pizza, maybe do a crash course on hospitality costs.. it's not about ingredients only, staff aren't free and ovens/power font pay for themselves. Stay home and make toast...
Regardless, these guys are as good as Melbourne's best!
S. M.
Staff were lovely. Pizza was brilliant. I ordered the most expensive anchovies on their menu to accompany, and it was SO WORTH IT. YUM
R. J.
Been to Bella Brutta two times now, and the food has been perfect both times. The pizza dough is airy but crispy, and the toppings are premium quality.
Second time there, the waiter came back to confirm that he had gotten the right order. That didn't bother us at all but he then came back with a complimentary salad as an apology!
Great service, and even better food, will go back any day.
E. G.
Loved it!! Amazing staff, delicious food, great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning!!
C. D.
Buzzing vibe and friendly staff. Authentic wood fired pizzas. Short menu - what they do, they do well. Dessert (Panna Cotta) was a little bit dissappointing with a gelatinous texture but flavours were nice. Recommend booking as it gets full quickly even on a weeknight! Would recommend.
J. M.
Very unique pizza flavours with a perfect mix between doughy and crispy pizza base. Definitely try the Clam Pizza + the ricotta gnudi zucchini flower !!
S. F.
Very overpriced but ultimately good pizza. Go for the clam one (but the best one is arguable!) they’re skimpy on toppings but the dough is meant to be the hero
A. Z.
Fantastic food with a great atmosphear. Great take on Italian food. Will definitely be coming back for more!👌
A.
Pizza was absolutely amazing and service is stellar: super attentive and friendly - for the price it's a no-brainer for a lovely date night or special night out with friends!
L. S.
Probs my only Covid silver lining is delivery from these guys...
#balanceddiet

Dine in and take away always a win. The potato pizza is to die for. Keep up the fab service.
G. T.
Best pizza in Sydney hands down! You really can’t get better just delicious
E. J.
This is the best pizza you can get in Sydney- the clam is an absolute stand out, the staff are amazing, the atmosphere is amazing, just perfect all round really.
F.
Awesome vibes and service.
Returned: Can someone please send me the playlist played in the restaurant???
M. M.
Great vibe and great service are just the beginning! They have the most fascinating menu, its short but every single dish is an experience on its own. They also have a great wine selection. Sharing is a good idea as you get to try more of their delicious dishes. Clam pizza and the burnt butter pumpkin were the highlights. Thanks guys
H. D.
Delicious dinner!
Such good pizza! Also good space and ambience!
Our server Caity was also lovely and super helpful!
R. J.
You MUST get the clam pizza. Amazing!
P. R.
FANTASTIC!
I came in for lunch on Saturday and the food was delicious but the best part is the service. Polite, friendly and just terrific all round from everyone working there! Special mention goes to I believe her name was Alicia I apologize if I am wrong but she was so genuine and lovely.
bada-bing bada-boom. I will certainly be back :)
K. G.
Great atmosphere, good food. Really enjoyed ourselves. The wait staff very friendly. Had pepperoni pizza, could have used 1 more minute in the wood fired oven. Still going back and really looking forward to it. Great local IPA too!! Great wine choices. Dessert was good too.
M. K.
Currently my favourite pizza place in Sydney. Marinara and clam pizzas are a must, plus their tiramisu. They have some interesting selection of wines and beers. We enjoyed 3 bottles of an amazing skin-contact wine with friends (unfortunately I cannot remember the name).

The pizzas here are, in our view, the best in Sydney, if not Australia. We always get the mortadella and pepperoni pizzas, which are both excellent. And the house made bread is so good. Yes the prices are a little higher than other pizza places, only marginally, but it's worth it. Get in early or book ahead as it gets busy fast at weekends. A must try
N. L.
Without a doubt the best pizza in Sydney. Trust me, the clam pizza is 👌
C. C.
Food is pretty good! The environment is so nice and cozy. The prices are a little bit high. Its a good place to try
d.
A simple, short and pleasant menu to choose from, no mind boggling matrix codes to read through to find 'the one'. Somehow I get mistaken for a gentleman when I wander in and am given ample and attentive service, hand in hand with a bottle of sangiovese.
The thought of their clam pizza with the optional chilli oil has me salivating more than Jabba the Hutt. Trying to control myself and act like an adult, I endeavour to not down each slice like I'm back in my grans kitchen. They've nailed the pizza, is all I can think, which i feel is the perfect definition to "less is more".
Worth every dime, will be going back for more. Well done.
c. c.
Been there twice, they never disappointed me. Awesome pizzas and friendly staff, limited selection of pizza but high quality. The wine list may be a bit expensive. They always been busy, both time we were seating at the back yard so I don’t have any noisy issues. Depends what you looking for, at the end of day you can always pick up your phone and call dominos to get 3 pizza + 2 garlic bread delivered for 30 bucks right?
C. D.
Bella Brutta pizza is very nice but is a HUGE RIP OFF so 3 stars. I came as a party of 7 for a birthday and got the $55 menu. The menu included bread, olives, anchoives, arancini, 6 pizzas of your choice & cannolis. I worked out the cost it would was ordered a la carte & it costed 30% extra to do the same on the set menu. 30%?! Ridiculous. To add, if I was to bring my own cake, the corkage fee was $8pp!
Aside from the price... the mortadella pizza was surprisingly one of the best ones for us all. Clam pizza was good. For the potato pizza, we requested guanciale, which they forgot to add so we asked for them to add it on and the pizza came back out at room temp. Would only recommend this place on a la carte menu.
M. D.
By far the best Pizza I’ve had in my lifetime. What an incredible experience thank you so much. Great service and reasonable prices, please keep it this way! We’ll be back.
P. V. G.
I ordered the pepperoni pizza. As I was eating it, I'd be happy to say that might be some of the best pizza I've ever had. The dough was great - chewy and crisp crust but not tough. The sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. The pepperoni was large and not overpowering. And the sprinkled fennel was a great touch. Definitely recommend.
J. H.
Wow this place really changed my mindset on what a pizza should taste like. I especially loved the clam pizza! It is a pizza with a beautiful balance of sour and savoury. The atmosphere and interior was awesome and welcoming. Would definitely come back again.
B. C.
Great pizzas - unique combinations on a well executed base
R. W.
Had a wonderful birthday dinner here this week. The food is delicious, particularly the pizza, and staff were friendly and attentive. The place itself is polished and bustling.
Minor cons were the staff tended to rush things away before they were finished and seemed to want to free up the table as quickly as possible. And they wanted to charge $8pp if we brought our own cake which was too steep for us.
A.
Had 2 pizzas, the margarita and clam. Both cooked perfectly with abit of char. Perfect under carriage which means a crunchy satisfying bite, proper tomatoe base and the perfect ratio of cheese. Little bit too much oil but overall a solid pizza!
C. Z.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and lovelty staff.
S. S. S.
Indeed the Pizzas are good. I'd rather have crusty edges, but that's a personal taste. On the other hand the acoustics are terrible. Back ground music along with regular noise make it impossible to talk or listen. No fun. I don't think I'll return.
E. E.
A great pizza place which keeps a high standard across all the dishes in its short menu. Worth grabbing a cannoli at the end too.
F. A.
Great Pizza and menu. Probably one of the best in Sydney.
Only 2 negative feedback; Music so load and wine menu too expensive.
M. B.
Loved everything about it from the attentive but natural service to the amazing yeasty, chewy blistered pizza crusts. The gnudi with zucchini flowers and the mortadella pizza were instant favourites.
R. C.
Pizza is absolutely amazing, and service is great. However, front of house logistics needs serious improvement.
There should be a staff member responsible for greeting guests and organising reservations, Both times we arrived (first making a reservation and then later arriving for our table) we were left standing uncomfortably for 5-10 minutes with staff walking by ignoring us. Definitely a negative start to an otherwise great night.
T. P. (. P.
This place is amazing! The pizza is delicious and there are lots of different sides that you can order with the pizza as well. All of the desserts on the menu are delicious. Recommended.
A. M.
This is the best pizza i've had in Sydney so far. Thin crust and the charred flavour heightens the quality.
Great drinks menu and dessert also but the starters are definitely a miss
M. M.
A delightful meal and experience. Little courtyard out the back with the heaters was perfect as inside was noisy. (There was a party at a table inside and people actually screaming/laughing-not restaurant fault just inconsiderate patrons). The pizzas and extras were divine and service upbeat and informed. Will be back for sure!
T. S.
Most amazing experience. Wonderful food!!! Everything was perfection. Especially the order in which they brought out the food. ANDREW! such an awesome host who knew the menu back the front and gave the best recommendations for food and wine..and dessert!!!! He made our overall Bella brutta experience that much more delightful! We hope to be served by you again. Because we will definitely be back!!! Cannot reccomend this place enough. It's different from any other pizza joint in town I promise ;)
M. P.
I've been here a few times and the food and service is always great. Ask the staff for recommendations on the menu to make the most of the delicious things on offer. Cavolo Nero Pizza is a must for veggos.
T. W.
Great pizzas in a cool space with efficient service. All the pizzas were great with highlights being the potato and also the sausage pizzas. Wine list is very expensive which is a shame as the food is reasonably priced considering the quality. Music was a touch loud but not too loud to totally kill conversation, though on bigger tables it would be hard to hear people more than a couple of seats away.
K. C.
Amazing pizza! Clam pizza was a really great experience! Chilli oil so good.
N. D.
Love this place. Service in on point, pizzas are excellent and the flavours are fresh. Didn't have dessert there but loved everything we ordered. We took our kids (9 and 6 years old) and they were very welcome
J. A.
The take away pizza was really nice and the staff was friendly. One of the pizzas came as an empty box. Amusingly the staff was very apologetic and delivered the missing pizza in person very promptly.the tiramisu was delicious
I. S.
Tasty food, nice selection of wine, and excellent servic. Pizzas a good, but not the best in Sydney in my opinion. A bit pricey.
r. m.
Excellent and inventive pizza with high quality ingredients. The simple salads have super tasty dressings and I liked the way the staff had an intimate knowledge of the wine list.
J. W.
My husband and I enjoyed a spectacular lunch here. We ordered the eggplant and green tomato antipasto dishes folowed by the cucumber and melon salad and could not fault them. Two of the dishes had delightful pairings with white cheeses. Then the highlight was the mortadella pizza. Stunning! The Italian donut also rocked. We skipped the wine menu as we'd drunk a bit the night before. Service wise, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. But on three occasions, we felt we waited longer than we needed to for the food. Regardless, we'll be back to make our way through the simple yet stunning menu. ...and try the wine menu too.
T. C.
Good food, but a bit too loud to hear people talk.
M. E.
Absolutely amazing food and service!
K.
We ate here occasionally pre COVID, but during COVID this has been our go to once per week takeaway. They've got a good deal now - wine and pizza (x2) Monday to Thursday - we always pickup. Pizzas are consistently the best ever.
Staff are always very friendly. In times of not a lot of human contact, it makes a big difference.
Love your work.
s. s.
High priced average pizza. Please don’t waste your time, or money. The fit out is gorgeous though and so are the kind and attentive waitstaff!
S. K.
I can see why bella brutta is good and is trying to have a point of difference in the crowded pizza market, but for me there were some issues. Sliced zucchini, octopus both yummy. The pizzas looked nice but they were drowned in acidity one lemon juice and the other sherry which made both not right we asked the waiter about them his only offering was he would tell chef and not to put it on the third pizza. The pizza dough made you bare the topping as that was excellent. The cannoli was another disappointment they ruined the ricotta filling by adding way too much amond extract it made it inedible the shell great. We also ordered a tin of anchovies at $21 a tin i thought I'd get a lot but no....$17 approx 6 anchovies $21 about 8, what a ripoff, just don't, its not caviar they are anchovies. Atmosphere heavy metal music....Service was fine, but i did have to request water as they hide the bottles. All up 2 botles of wine, 4 aperitifs. 3 entrees, 3 pizzas, 4 cannoli and one tiramisu, $350, if you think that's good value for 5 people, go for it, would l go back, No.
S. c. (.
We’d been recommended by a few people to go to Bella Brutta in Newtown, as these tipsters spoke of its great pizzas and casual vibe to enjoy a social catch up with a few drinks. There’s been a lot of hype, for it received a timeout award. You can judge for yourself whether it meets up to that.
There’s two options, ordering off their menu or two banquets for $50 or $60 (for 4 or more diners). The difference in the banquets is the $50 option has entrees (small plates) and pizzas, whilst the $60 option had the entrees (larger plates) with pizzas.
We opted for ordering from the menu since we deduced it would be better value and we could get more of what we wanted. Amongst the 4 of us we shared the wood fire bread and oil, the roast scallops with garlic butter, prosciutto croquette, tuna carpaccio with capes and lemon from the smaller plates section. These plates ranged from $6 pp (croquettes) to $17 for the carpaccio. The food is rustic Italia, simple but well prepared with high quality ingredients.
From the larger plates, the ricotta gnudi with zucchini and pinenuts was probably the pick of the night, with a creamy filling exuding the gnudi upon bite.
With this a side of grilled asparagus and romesco, as well as a pear, rocket and pecorino salad was a good accompaniment.
Since Bella Brutta is known for their pizza, we also ordered two of these; the pepperoni as the clam (a favoured choice) though after seeing other diners, we were jealous of the sausage pizza. Roughly $28 a pizza, a little steep for a pizza but they’re good. Cooked in a wood fired oven that takes prime position in the room, they’re made in no time. Thin based, charred outside and slightly baked toppings.
We couldn’t leave without a famous creamy cannoli and tiramisu which was easily polished off the plate.
Waitstaff were less than attentive, maybe they're going for a casual pizzeria vibe. Once we got their attention, the waitress was nice and helpful. The restaurant itself must be busy and we sort of felt we were speed dating since you’re rushed through you’re food (and told that) they want you in and out to fill their table.
L. R.
Amazing food and wine list with excellent staff service, in particular Katie (working 8-10pm Friday 8th of November) who was lovely! Went above and beyond and ensured our night was a great one! Will definitely be back soon.
G. G.
Great pizza. What else can I say... music is a bit loud. But the pizza are great
K. N.
Friendly staff, highlight was the arancini balls
B.
Food: Starters are hit and miss - eggplant vinaigrette is delicious and a reasonable serving size for two while the baby beetroot salad was ridiculously small and contained 1/2 of a baby beetroot - my otherwise pleasant impression soured after this delivery. Pepperoni pizza was good but the only stand out was the meat, otherwise similar to any other neapolitan style pizza out there
Price: Overpriced for portion sizes
Ambience: Loud, well suited to groups of friends. Music is mix of punk classics and contemporary covers. Try to get a table towards the front of the room if possible in view of the pizza oven
Service: Friendly staff but can take a while to get their attention
M. V.
Feast like a king!!! Friendly staff, great pizzas and really nice Veggie options too.
N. R.
Absolutely delicious pizza. But don’t expect to linger - they tend to hussle you out so they can seat another round of diners. That rushed feeling is the only reason they don’t get 5 stars. (And I’m not talking about lingering for half an hour over the last dregs of wine in your glass. I’m talking about, I just put my knife down and the bill’s on the table.)
O.
Bella Brutta does some of the best, most innovative pizza I've had. Their clam pizza is amazing, and so is their mortadella. They have great tomato sauce, and combine this with outgoing flavours to create something truly unique and delicious. Check it out!
S. M.
While the food is good, the wait staff are very rushed. Word of warning: the anchovies on the Marinara cost an extra $17-$21, which is the cost of an entire pizza. Yes that's on top of the base price, very misleading in the menu! And no, anchovies are not worth an extra $21 regardless of where they are from.
S. R.
Just visited this establishment for the second time; the food, wine and atmosphere is phenomenal. Katie (working 8pm- 10pm on Friday, 8 Nov 2019) was the most diligent, professional and helpful waitress I have ever encountered. Would give 6 stars if I could for her.
I will always come back to Bella Bruta! Thank you Katie.
J. S.
Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Great flavours and textures, the menu is full of great dishes and seasonal rotation. Great wine list!
R. G.
Great fluffy dough pizzas with simple but delicious toppings, prices are a little steep but it's worth at least one visit.
E. A.
This place is amazing! Pizzas are heavenly 😍 Try the clam one
J. S.
Simple but delicious menu. My wife and I love the food here.
I was highly disappointed with the arancini though. It was absolutely delicious, but they were about the size of a teaspoon or Ferrero rocher .... For $6 each, I think that's a bit rich
S. S.
Loved it! Best pizza I've ever had! The sides were really good too, and the place has a nice atmosphere. Hope to come back asap!
J. R.
Best pizza I’ve had in Sydney! This place always has great vibe, and the best customer service! Love it
J. H.
We took our one year old son to Bella Brutta for dinner on his first birthday. The pizza was exceptional as always, but what impressed me was the way the staff went out of their way to make it a fun night for our boy.
E. G.
Ordered a takeaway and there was an issue with my phone number. Once I contacted them, they refunded the money, rushed the pizza over and gave us a free tiramisu! Fantastic customer service!! Will order again! Thanks Bella Brutta!
D. C.
Best pizzas in Sydney so far............
Good service and atmosphere!!
C. L.
One of the best pizza's in Sydney for sure. Totally unique spin! Well done!
E. C.
One of the best pizza places in Sydney!
D. P.
Really some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. The clam pizza is something original and addictive. Can not recommend Bella Brutta enough - the prices are excellent as well.
B. M.
Absolutely hands down the best pizza in Sydney. Also, I don't know what sorcery they do to make the little pillows of heaven that are the ricotta gnudi, but please, never take it off the menu!
N. A.
Great atmosphere and friggin awesome 🍕 You should also try their entres - the pickled tomatoes and the peppers are both really tasty. Oh, of course - try the clam pizza. So much flavour in this one, it's going to blow your palate away.
C. Z.
Best pizza in Sydney, hands down
E. M.
Good pizza options at a decent price for Newtown. Our group ordered several pizzas and we were happy with each. Recommend the seafood marinara and the salami options in particular.
J. L.
Best pizza in Sydney. Hands down. Nothing comes close. It's expensive FOR SURE. that is the main issue, but it's not enough to take a star off. I haven't had pizza this good in Italy.
A. L.
Absolutely brilliant. Had the truffle pizza which was a special and the potato and gorgonzola and both were great. Staff is also extremely lovely and accomodating. They prepared our table so we could have a pram next to it!
M. G.
Amazing food, great service and high quality produce. couldnt ask ask for more.
Make sure you put Bella Brutta on your list of things to do if you’re visiting Sydney. They never disappoint.
R. S.

Amazing pizza with fresh high quality ingredients
G. H.
Impeccable pizza. Simple, perfectly balanced ingredients! Stracciatella, and ricotta made from scratch everyday, divine! Not to mention the desserts, canoli with ricotta! Selection of strong Italian, Australian and Spanish wines! AND service to boot! New favourite inner west restaurant!
f. g.
Great service. Best pizza in town. Everything we had in the banquet was delicious. A great deal of home made fair makes it a place worth going back for repeatedly.
C. L.
Best pizza in Sydney, and they do delivery now during lockdown!
K. O.
The best pizza I've found in Sydney. The service is also brilliant, the staff are genuinely lovely and offer great recommendations.
C. V.
Amazing service, lovely staff! Charred Green beans & the ricotta gnudi were out of this world amazing, potato pizza & soft polenta weren't terrible but were definitely overshadowed by the other 2 dishes. Definitely one to try.
P. H.
Really friendly staff and great pizza on a Sunday afternoon, we had the Cavolo Nero which was fantastic as was the charred asparagus and the starter of Tuna Cappacio...the wine list has a couple of interesting wines by the glass, all in all an enjoyable afternoon... highly recommended, looking forward to another visit.
A.
Best new pizza place in Sydney. The staff are so wonderful and the food is super delicious. I thought all of the food was reasonably priced and of a very high quality
Definitely recommend!
A. M.
Spenny but it’s the greatest pizza I’ve ever eaten. All the food ordered for a table of 8 was class, including the bread and oil to start. Waiter was sound and knew his stuff.
E. C.
Couldn’t stop at one pizza or a single bottle of wine! The staff were attentive and even the owner was out on the floor making sure everything was going okay. Will be back and definitely the best Pizzas in Newtown!
K. H.
I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed a restaurant before but I just had possibly the best pizza I have ever eaten, delicious vegetable side dishes and amazing service. Seriously, so so good.
D. S.
Food was incredible. Catered super well to a large group (including a few rowdy kids). Staff were generous and friendly with their time. Highly endorse.
M. N.
Loved our meal here. Pizza was spot on, meats were delish, and the tiramisu was superb. Friendly staff made for a wonderful time.
M. S.
Really nice light authentic pizza. Managed to get a table before the Friday evening rush so very happy with the quality and service.
R. I.
Seated us at the last minute on a busy Friday. Service was exceptional. Food was the quality you'd expect. Nice space, busy, bustling, traditional narrow inner west restaurant. Solid place for a meal.
L. L.
The 'pasta' base of the pizza was sensational, service was attentive, would have liked a few more topping options (rather then the 4 options of anchovies) and more than 2 beers on the menu... to sum up bella e bruta.
R. F.
Great experience, joey is an amazing chef
A. C.
Delicious. Couldn't dine in as we didn't make a reservation and the place was packed. Ordered four pizzas to go, and my favourite was the kale pizza.
M. A.
Quality pizza - the crust is ace. Marinara highly recommended, great wine and great atmosphere. Best new addition to King St!
H. G.
I knew this place would be a hit and was not disappointed.
Pizza is great with quality ingredients and flavours, great base.
Wine list is great as is staff and service.
R. M.
Yummy food. Try the clam pizza. Super busy for a Tuesday so make sure you book
c.
Pizza was really enjoyable! Also tried the sour grape sorbet but that was quite ordinary - despite the name sour notes and grape flavour non existent.
J. H.
Almost certainly the best pizza Ive had. The wine list is great too, if a little pricey.
Y. M.
Lively atmosphere and tasty pizzas!
L. C.
Delicious! Knock out pizza bases, great wine list, and attentive service. Much needed addition to the King St offering. Highly recommend.
S. P.
Finally received to try this place and I wasn’t disappointed. So happy to have these guys in the area. The pepperoni pizza is to die for and great wine selection
N. Y.
Good food. Was quite warm next to the oven. Our table was directly opposite it. Rushed us out.
S. D.
Pizza is tastefull even if the pizza souce is not the tradurional ine . The service is fast, tidy and friendly but I would never ever ask for tips becouse is extremely impolite (I work as a waiter too). Btw I left tips becoise the service was good
D. T.
Wow wow wow. Best fricken pizza in town. Trust me go!! Service amazing! Food amazing! Restaurant amazing! I'm in love 🍕🍷
K. A.
Easily my new local. Great atmosphere, great wine list and great staff. The food is amazing -
the mortadella pizza is to die for. Highly recommend.
M. R.
Incredible pizza. Perfect blistery crust from a serious pizza oven. Fresh rocket and peach salad is a nice complement to the pizza
R. M.
I found everything about this places enjoyable except the volume of the music, just a little too loud, otherwise the inside decor is lovely, service was excellent. Good range of wine (not so much beer but the few they had looked appealing). The food was fresh and tasty, authentic, a little expensive but that to be expected. I highly recommend you try this place.
A. L.
Just really good and tasty pizzas. You can't go wrong.
R. T.
Great pizza! closest style in Sydney to the sorbillo pizza in Napoli.. service is usually good, but on this day was a bit variable..
M. M.
Great pizza, overprice dessert
e. g.
Never knew Pizza could taste this good. Good luck trying to get a table. Amazing!
J. R.
(Read as Edna Mo) Simply bella brilliant, darling. Come in, come in. We had the orange, wineeeee..... My god, and now we are fat. And we are wearing Egyptian cotton. No capes. (End Edna) but seriously, good food. Thanks! Great width of corridor, like Brooklyn underground bar.

C. W.
pizza here is always great and love the pastas they have on sometimes. Can get busy though would be great if courtyard was open all the time
P. N.
We had clam pizza and it was so good! Not many selection on the menu though. Still this place is a very good addition to Newtown!
M. L.
I"m a Newtown local and I've been dying to try this place and it didn't disappoint. Went on a Sunday, two weeks ago for lunch. They don't take bookings for small numbers so my friend and I were happily perched at the bar. Service was attentive, we shared a few starters - the polenta was delish as was the cheese ball (can't remember precise description). Had a glass of Prosecco, a beer, a shot of Tequila and bill was $70 each - Highly recommend and will definitely be back to try out their famous pizzas.
R. B.
Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Decent wine list also.
J. S.
Best pizza in town and the beef cheeks were so amazing as well. Service is always spot on!

So glad this place opened! Thin black bubbly pizza bases with high quality ingredients.
The staff were so attentive and just the right amount of friendly. We ordered the clam pizza and ricotta gnudi. The gnudi was to die for, we will be back just for that....oh and another perfect pizza and orange wine!
The only down side is it is so loud and stark in there, they need to improve the atmosphere to make it feel more warm. We could hardly hear eachother talk. Then it would be the absolute perfect date spot.
