I love this place. The pizzas are sensational. The old adage, quality over quantity pays dividends here. The toppings are spread over the base but not in huge quantities but sufficient to taste all of them. The Diavola being my favourite, although they have a weekly special which is often tempting. Otherwise they have a selection of bianche or rosse bases and you can even upgrade the mozzarella which all go with their antipasti and mozzarella bar. Gluten free is an option on some items. The staff are always fun, and even excuse my terrible Italian. It can get busy, bookings are advisable otherwise be prepared to wait, but it is worth it

Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the best pizza in Sydney. There are other good pizza places but the pizzas at Vacanza are flawless. The bruschetta is also amazing, best I’ve ever had. They use fresh bread and fresh mozzarella. I can’t get back soon enough. I would move to Surry Hills or Waverly/Bronte just so I could eat here more often.

This was a great find. Authentic wood fired pizza with the perfect crust/base and delicious, quality ingredients on top. We had to go with the traditional margherita pizza. Then had some italian meats and cheeses on the side, as well as some mushroom arancini. Absolutely delicious from start to finish and not a bad price tag compared to some others in the same class.

Really solid pizza and good service. I've actually never been inside as we usually bring our dog and sit outdoors. The mozzarella focaccia is fantastic and the tomato base for the pizza is delicious. Cheap house wines by the carafe as well. It's often crowded, so try going at an off time or make a booking.

I went to book a reservation around 6pm and there was 50% of people there (after they had opened just half an hour ago). I recommend special chef's menu pizza but it's not in a menu. The pizza dough are thin, fully topped by cheese. The taste for both pizza is very great. The price is reasonable. Minus one star for smoking smell from smokers who wait for the table in front of the restaurant.

Friends have been raving about this place for years and I had never been! Finally got to go there last night and absolutely loved it! Hidden Gem, coffee was unbelievably good after having a few average ones at previous places. Full cream, full flavour and heavily roasted beans, just how I like them. Food was pretty good too but would go back for the coffee all day every day!!

Unreal pizza, with great service! I got a pizza and wanted an item replaced with another item it was done at no extra cost.... when it arrived it was brought out with the other 2 pizzas at the same time and was of very good quality ingredients with a very well cooked base, it's so unbelievably difficult to get a pizza base cooked right the way through top and bottom and I very much appreciate the quality over quantity. I will definitely be returning! Thank you for a pleasurable dining experience!

What a gem!! Just about everything about it seems to be right! The staff is very attentive and friendly and yes all Italian! Authentic as you would be sitting right in Italy! The cheese plater with meat is probably the best I ever had here in Sydney. One of those moments where everyone on the table stops talking. The olives are also superb! The wines they offer are perfect with the mains. Let the staff give you some recommendations. I had the Diavola pizza which was killing it. Thanks again for the good work you do there! I'll be back!

This place is on my list of best pizza in Sydney. Not to mention their authentic tiramisu. I visit regularly. Most times are great. But last time I went there, just before lockdown on a rainy day, wasn’t very pleasant. I made a booking 2hrs in advance. When we got there, only half of the tables have customers. We walked in, closed door by ourselves and stood there for longer than 20mins, the waitress walked passed us dozens of times just CANNOT see us (neither did three staff in the kitchen). No table reserved either. It was super weird that day. The staff were not talking to each other at all. As if they were all angry…. We had to get back into the rain to find a different restaurant in the end. Hope it’s just an one off situation. I want to like this place as much as I did.

Pull up, light one up, Warm Summer night season, Pizza, nothing else ^^ Vacanza is inoffensively delicious, delicately balanced, not quite Napoli but that's the charm, it has it's own identity. Some you might eat with a knife and fork like the old countries. But if you're a simple gal like I and want to grab just the old Margherita Bufala, then hands and some grease catching napkins is all you need.

The food is fresh, well presented and filling. However, the pizza might be considered expensive at $24-26, but it's worth every cent. Their weekly specials are usually well thought out and include beer, cocktails and pizza.

Wow - what a pizza experience. In a city with so many great pizza options we keep coming back here. From the great service from moment your arrive to the fresh produce used in the classic Italian style pizzas. The friendly, welcoming, accomodating staff are a highlight. We usually really enjoy the good pizza they have freshly made here even though we always order take away instead of sitting down because it's always full. Today we had two tomato based pizza with artichokes and spicy one. The olives are really salty and the crust are burnt a lot. The tomato base didn't taste as good and lacks in flavour. Don't know if it's because it's too busy or what but not as good as we always enjoyed before.

But watch out for the door - sitting near it brings you the pleasure of absolutely Arctic blasts every time someone opens it, and for some inexplicable reason, people seem to love holding it open. Great for polar bears, not so much for humans. Otherwise, do yourself a pizza favour and eat here.

The food is all delish, order anything and it will be great. However you always feel rushed. I've eaten here twice in the last week and I understood being pushed out the door on a Friday night which was clearly busy but on a Wednesday night (when it's clear there's no one waiting for our table as others are empty) I think it's rude to insist we pay almost as soon as our desserts are cleared. And it was nowhere near closing time. Most of the staff are really lovely and positive but our waitress tonight definitely had a crumby attitude.

If you want to find a real Italian pizza, you must stop at Vacanza! The food is tasty and fresh and it is made right in front of your eyes. My favourite pizza is Saraceno, with Parma prosciutto, rocket and parmesan. The floor staff is really nice and they give you the right suggestions for the dinner. If you want to end with something sweet, the tiramisu or the Nutella calzone are the best way to do it!

Went to Vacanza for my niece's birthday. I recommend making a booking as it's always busy. And for a very good reason. The food is very good- authentic Italian pizzas and side dishes. Worth the premium in cost. Surprisingly, for a fancier place, the maitre d and the wait staff were very friendly and accommodating, helping us with the birthday cake amongst other things. I highly recommend Vacanza as the food is delicious and the staff add to the positive experience. I will definitely return.

I love the pizzas and go there regularly the ambiance is generally lovely but I must say I was disappointed with last night’s service when staff clearly wanted to go home started cleaning the floor and putting chairs up before 8:30 whilst last two tables of customers just finished eating and had full glasses of wine on the table. Really doesn’t make you feel welcomed. Me and my 2 friends would have loved an extra glass and a dessert but not enjoyable in this context. Music was also super strange for the first time not fit to the place. Anyway hope this serves as constructive feedback since pizza are never a disappointment.

Small pizzeria on the corner, with the perfect amount of lighting and atmosphere to cater to many. We went for a friends farewell, and booked for a table of 12, easily finding ourselves taking up 1/4 of the inside floor space. We had the set menu, due the size of group. It consisted of breads, cheese and meats for entree, then followed by a pizza each. The pizzas were very simple in nature (very much traditional Italian) thin slices, heaps of cheese, and basic ingredients on top. Not too many options in the types available. But still yum! They were very considerate of the Vegos on the table too. Best part about this place is that it’s BYO, making it a great venue for events. But note, it does get loud and is always busy.

After being totally disappointed by Via Napoli two years ago I swore I wouldn't go back there so we thought we'd try Vacanza and wow we were not prepared for how awesome their pizza was. This time we had no booking and got a table within 10 mins. We ordered a pizza and a red wine to share from a waitress which was friendly and actually Italian! It took no time at all and I was blown away. The crust and the base was amazing. It had the signature crunch with a chewy centre. All the ingredients were perfect. Really great tasting pizzas and very friendly staff. This is a very popular restaurant with lengthy waitlists, so if you don't have a booking and are starving, avoid Friday and Saturday nights. Saying that, there are bars nearby to keep you busy and you'll get a call when your table is available. Although they don't have a wood fire oven, their dough and cooking is some sort of magic, and you'll swear the pizza is as good as wood-fired.

I am Italian and I went with other two Italian friends a couple of weeks ago. Nice place, friendly staff (some, not all of them) and I love Fela Kuti in the background both times I have been, but unfortunately I am not a fan of their pizza. Don't take me wrong, the ingredients are premium quality and it's wood-fire cooked, but it's not the kind of pizza I like. I love the Neapolitan style - elastic, very thin and soft in the middle, and the crust is lots of soft dough, with black of burnt spots here and there. The pizza at Vacanza is thicker in the middle and too crispy/crunchy for our liking. Again, it is not bad pizza, it's just not the Pizza Napoletana I'm used to and that I love so much. I think they changed their pizza (it was not like that the first time I went last year) to cater for the non-Italian clientele, who I realised always complain about the pizza being too soggy for them...

🍕 🍕 🍕 Look, this place is busy ALL THE TIME. Is the food amazing? Yes it is. Will you have to book in advance or wait an hour or two? Yes you will. Are there bars/ pubs in close proximity where you can have a cheeky drink while waiting for the experience of Vacanza? Hell yes there is. Here's my recommendation, stroll into Vacanza and ask for the next available table, walk around a corner into a pub/ bar and hang out until they call you and tell you the table is good to go. Arrive and eat yourself silly. Also this place is BYO so bring the vino and sail into the sunset.

Remember a little while back when I did a post on Vacanza, an Italian restaurant in Charing Cross? Well, the owner, Nick, just opened a new restaurant in Surry Hills so one night, I said to my family lets meander on over there shall we? And that's exactly what we did. After our meandering was over, we sat down and thought to ourselves what to eat, what to eat? Well, we had a look at the menu and thought that whatever we ate would be delicious but a real stand out on the menu was the Il Capitano, with Italian Sausage, Fior di Latte, tomato and the perfect drizzling of truffle oil. I put a slice of this with their Pear, Breasola, Wild Rocket and Parmesan salad on a plate and it was just perfection... To round my meal off, I just couldn't resist one of their Tiramisu's. The perfect amount of marscapone with sponge fingers makes it a perfect end to my Vacanza experience.

Lovely pizzas and buffalo cheese items! Booked on V-day and had one hour only which is too short to be honest. Staff were attentive but I felt that they were only being attentive to get us out ASAP. When we left, the restaurant was 3/4 empty (possibly waiting for patrons to arrive) but we felt so pressured to leave before our one hour was up. One lady tried to take our buffalo mozzarella salad away with tomatoes and full piece of mozzarella left, and as she took it away she asked if we were done! Clearly not! Really lovely pizza in an intimate cozy setting. This is proper pizza like you get in Italy; simply gorgeous!! Good selection of Italian wines - our favourite was the Chianti. The staff are really friendly and very passionate about their food; happy to explain anything on the menu that is unfamiliar.
