Dropped in for lunch today with the girls. We were made very welcome in the beer garden with cold water and ice for the girls. Meals were very good and well priced, staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back again.

I believe The Excelsior has the potential to become the new place to listen to live music. When dancing is allowed they will need to be able to cater for that or it wont take off. I had a beautiful pizza for lunch and friends had a variety of other dishes they enjoyed. Bar staff were efficient and friendly. $3.80 for a Chai Latte, cant go wrong. Enjoyable afternoon

We had the Chicken Parmi and Beef Boscaiola with a side of veges and cream sauce. 4 stars for service and Boscaiola topping, 3 stars for the parmi (the batter separated from the meat itself a lot and the fries could be crispier) and 3.5 stars for the sides. Will return during the weekday when their parmi specials are on.

Well, the Excelsior Hotel was my best choice I made to visit and having delicious meal with my friends... Special thanks to the kitchen chef for perfect rack lamb cutlets....with pistachios, Wow!!! I can say..I do feel guilty because I left my plate empty....all gone! The place was clean and tidy , service quick and very nice. Wonderful team at the Excelsior, they made my birthday experience very special. I was made to feel so welcome and my guests had a wonderful time. The food was so good, the prawn linguine and the Thai chicken curry tasted supremo, the burgers and the schnitzels and fish were well recieved and the presentation of all the meals were sublime. The new menu is a cracker, get down there and try it out. Thanks to Lisa and the team who looked after us all night, even the dirty stop outs drinking cocktails well into the night 🙏

Tried it once, and became regular customers. Now I have dined here about 40 times. The food and bar service is spot on every time. I highly recommend the chicken schnitzel it's always crunchy and perfectly cooked. I'm moving 35 minutes from this place and I will travel to get here.

Great layout & great steaks cooked spot on to your liking or if your on a budget then can't argue with the $20 roast lamb/turkey with desert served up by exceptional staff who obviously enjoy working for the Excelsior. Everytime we walk through the front bar to the dining area the barman always gives us a smile & G'day & again when leaving. It's the little things like this that are duley noted. I've been 4 times in the last 6 weeks with friends from Mt Gambier who only wanted to go back to this pub. A solid 5 stars.

I had the salt and pepper squid which was very good if a little bit on the pricier side for a pub meal. The salad bar was a little strange, but I liked that it was unlimited access with your meal. I didn't eat that much because the portion of chips and squid was quite large.

Such a great pub in the heart of Hawker St. I remember it when it was the 'Phantom' themed pub many moons ago. I still get cravings for the veggie lasagna they sold back then. Geez that was good. Anyway, back to the current day Excelsior! It's great. Fantastic meals at a great size and price, lots to choose from an extensive menu, and truly lovely staff. Everyone was so friendly, asking how our meals were and even laughing at my Dad's jokes. They even seemed genuinely amused too! I had a delicious chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, my hubby got the atlantic salmon special, and my Dad the roast of the day. Everyone was very happy! I got veggies on the side instead of salad this time, and it was a great choice. It's such a great little pub, and really family friendly. Highly recommend this little gem in the heart of the inner West.

Gave this place another chance because its my local and am pleased to say they've lifted their game. The menu has been upgraded and now once again caters for a variety of food intolerances without being standard pub fare. Lisa is front of house and she is fantastic. During the transition period she did everything she could to make the menu palatable to all. Her warm and genuinely friendly nature is very welcoming. Keep doing what your doing at the Excelsior Lisa and Barraeu group and you will have continuing repeat customers and a full house.

Eat here regularly - always enjoy the steak sandwich which comes with an awesome home-made relish. Place is always busy on a Friday night but they do put on some fabulous mid-week specials. Have often called in for a chicken burger for lunch with our daughter if we happen to be passing - if it's lunchtime and we're in the neighbourhood, that's where we'll go. Staff are always friendly and nice and if you get an Excelsior card, and go regularly, every few months you earn enough points to get a free feed.

Visited here for dinner last night with our entertainment book voucher. Used the back door which avoids having to walk through the sports bar and goes straight into the restaurant. We were served immediately and offered a table for food, there was a special on Carlton Draught. The place was nearly fully booked and buzzing, we chose our meals and ordered at the counter, food arrived within 30 minutes which I thought was fine for a busy Saturday night. Steaks were perfectly cooked medium and medium rare, sauces were rich and delicious, chips were good but there could have been more, salad was fresh and tasty, veggies were al dente and plentiful. All in all a good experience at a reasonable price. We will be going back.

I am a butcher by trade and when ever I eat out no matter what sort of restaurant it may be I order steak, so when I go to a steak house I expect a dam good piece of meat!! I ordered a medium cooked coorong 500g angus rump that was more like a 500g piece of rubber!! Naturally I was not happy as I had suggested the excelsior to friends which were also not impressed. In the end the pricing was average the atmosphere was pretty good our waitress was very rude, forgot our drinks and mixed up our serperatly ordered meals and a chef I seen just stared and gave us all evil looks. Overall we were not happy. To the staff at excelsior GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.
