Comments of NOLA Adelaide
K.
Lovely small bar with really good soul food, unexpected but a welcome surprise! The hurricane cocktail is delicious, and the beignets are as good as you'd find in New Orleans (they just need to learn how to pronounce it!)
Definitely will be back. Lovely staff too. Appreciated the contactless order system.
S. B.
Busy upstairs during the Urban Cocktail walk. One person behind the bar who was kept busy serving. No menus upstairs but was still able to order food which arrived promptly. Revisited for some cocktails and a Po Boy roll on a Saturday afternoon.
K. P.
NOLA Adelaide exceeded my expectations. The food was surprisingly amazing for a small bar. The general consensus is that the fried chicken is extremely tasty, I can confirm that statement. The skin is very crispy and the chicken is amazingly juicy. I had a great experience at NOLA and I would definitely return to try more of their menu and drinks.
J.
Easy to find and a great little eclectic pub. Large range of craft beers in a cosy setting. Staff are always great and the small food menu won’t disappoint. Perfect for groups of 5 or less or taking a date. Try the beer paddle, great value for money and opportunity to try a few beers at once.
J. C.
Amazing food and amazing atmosphere, I have to say that the singer was so good at it that we were questioning if it was like a radio channel or a CD.
The vibe was absolutely fantastic, drinks was amazing as well, the first cocktail (had passion fruit in it) that we got was surprisingly sweet since there wasn't any taste of alcohol at all, great for newbies but the one we got after was pretty strong, we couldn't even finish half a glass cause the whiskey was just too strong(scotch something), great for long term drinkers or whiskey lovers.
W. W.
From the minute that we walked in you could not beat the friendly staff.
We were given a jug of water and glasses with lime and ice, without having to make a request.
We ordered our food and drinks. The food menu is compact but full of really good offerings.
The alcohol offerings are vast and it is very difficult to make a choice.
There are at least 10 craft beers and hundreds of bottles of spirits on offer.
The food when it came was really tasty, fresh and hot. The sauces appear to be homemade and were very good.
Overall I would highly recommend this place and will be visiting. The staff are really friendly and attentive and the place is brilliant
V. Y.
Happy to see Southern favourites on the menu! Really nice atmosphere for a night out and food was good but a little pricey. Worth checking out at least once if you’re in Adelaide.
D. R.
Such a great late night eat,I ordered the Smoked brisket PO'BOY and Beignets, both which were fantastic!!
N. K.
Great hidden gem!! Great live music with very talented muso's. Food was amazing. And their cocktails are something else!! Cheers for an awesome night, will be going back soon.
G. T.
Revisited today. Fried chicken still delicious, tater tots too. And the beignet are still amazing.
Music selection very funky but a bit loud for dinner.
Fried chicken leaves the chain version in the dust. Delicious! Tater tots are not like bland frozen things you might get from the supermarket. Amazing.
The beignet are slightly different from last visit but still sweet and delicious.
Staff are welcoming and efficient. Service time spot on.
Highly recommended.
J. G.
Spicy fried chicken is 11/10 and the lady Nola cocktail is 👌
J. W.
Food and cocktails are great! Majority of staff are fantastic!
Although I would rate 5 stars, but one bar staff member tried to be very argumentative and accusing that I had ordered that particular cocktail when I had ordered something different. He decided to then through insult towards myself when I complained about his attitude and customer service. I truly believe I should not be questioned multiple times am I sure that I ordered a particular cocktail when the barman made the wrong cocktail. I politely said this is not the drink I ordered, he proceeded to question over and over again are you ‘sure’, suggesting I had just changed my mind and wanted something different. In the end I waited approximately 40 minutes for my correct cocktail to be made. The English barman through in some insults saying you obviously don’t work in hospitality, when I know hospitality workers in a up market bar should be hospitable towards customers, I had to tell him repeatedly to stop arguing and leave my table. Embarrassing look for Nola. At least other staff members rectified the problem when explained, but no offer of reimbursement or anything else for their mistakes.
Overall great food and drinks, but just one barman needs to fix his attitude quick smart! As Nola has a great vibe overall and great ambiance!
Edit - Went back to Nola recently, experience was closer to 5 stars, they are humble, very relaxed atmosphere and the staff on that night were super friendly! They rectified the above problem with a voucher, which made the experience even better. Cocktails once again were good !
T. M.
It is a great place, small, but with great ambience. Located in Ebenezer place it has a great market laneway vibe. Busy on the weekends and crazy during the fringe.
The food was great tasty and arrived fairly fast.
Service in downstairs bar was a little lacking, was ignored by several staff while waiting for service, who then proceeded to serve people that had walked in after me. disappointed. not very observant.
Still...give it a try.
L. B.
Beautiful food! Accidentally came across it while on one of the electric scooters with my friend and the place looked tiny, but when you walk in it becomes so wide, the aesthetic is amazing, music, plants, lights very comfy setting. We tried the smoked brisket po’boy, cornbread and the beignets, and all of it melted in my mouth, although the amazing cocktails might’ve helped me open the doors to heaven.
H. G.
Nice place for a drink. Food is average.
M. R.
Friendly staff and great drinks! Their food is also really delicious. Goes well with the drinks you can order. Huge selection of cocktails and ample seating! Both indoor and outdoor seating, and it's in such a great location. Very pretty.
S. B.
Can 200% recommend this terrific place. Lively atmosphere, with staff who are friendly and knowledgeable about the products they serve. Food is always excellent and love their focus on supporting local and Aussie brewers. It's a small space, so getting in during COVID wasn't always easy, but if you're willing to wait and be flexible they are very accommodating.
M. J.
Hidden bar tucked away in an alley, with live music upstairs. Dim lighting to set the mood. Specifically came here for the signature fried chicken. It was crispy but only came in 6 boneless pieces.. Paired with a delicious sauce. But will consider it on the pricey side. Wide selection of drinks though. Generally a great place to wind down and chill.
S.
What a cool place!! Such a cool place and great beer! And get the Tater Totts 😍
@Seaustravl
D. M.
Chased down with a couple of pints, a serve of fried chicken and ribs was the perfect amount of food between the two of us.
Great southern menu and more adventurous items on the list for those seeking something out of the norm. Even on a Sunday night, the place was electric - highly recommend!
S. C.
Really chill and nice place to come with some friends to hang out! The music is really trendy and rock lovers would love this place! They serve some of the best cocktails ive tried and their food menu is a great choice to have before some of the more stronger drinks.
In terms of the interior, it's really groovy and aesthetic, definitely nice for some selfies or group photos. Overall the bar is very clean and the staff maintain a strict level of hygiene.
E. N.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff
Incredibly delicious food
An eye-opening range of local, interstate, and international beer, whisky and other spirits
I have never had a bad experience here and would highly advise you to check it out. Not for everyone, but is for everyone worth a damn!
L.
Awesome venue. Great service, amazing food (that prawn dip, damn) & cool vibe. If I lived in Adelaide I’d be here a lot.
L.
Came here for a quick late evening snack and boy, this place is quite upmarket so dress up lol. Ordered their New Orleans fried doughnuts called Beignets and had their special tropical beer which was refreshingly sour. Also had the beef sandwhich and fried cauliflower... ALL OF THEM WERE GOOD! Would come back to try their bigger dinner menu next time!
J. R.
Leaving 5 stars almost purely for the fried chicken. It blew my mind, the spicy fried chicken was the absolute best chicken I've had in ages. The rest was all good too, nice beer selection, but I cannot stress enough my delight at the chicken.
M. M.
This place was a nice spot to stop in for some local beers on tap and some tasty whiskey cocktails. The atmosphere was inviting and the food was really delicious. We tried both the Po'Boy sandwiches and found the sweet potato one was our favorite.
The people behind the bar were knowledgeable and helpful when choosing a drink.
H. K.
Great atmosphere, and the food was great with delicious vegan options and also have non alcoholic beer.
A. G.
Highly recommended. It's a great venue and as a whiskey affectionado it has an immense range.
The food is excellent, southern American, right and delicious. I was delighted by the in house whiskey blends in small casks. I tried the american(others were not ready) it was delicious and unique!
I would highly encourage you to try this place yourself it's on my must visit again list next time I'm in Adelaide.
P. W. (.
Stunning little bar in the hidden side streets in Adelaide. Really really good quality and high attention to detail. The cocktails are unique and the food is as close to authentic as I've seen in Australia. Definitely visit.
I. S.
First time very nice food not over big but busy huge bar downstairs pricing not too bad creole style food American beers plenty cocktails to choose from
R.
Superb Jazz band. Amazing sound and didn't want it to stop. I will be back the next time they are on.
L. J.
This place is amazing, a visit is required to understand. Watched one of the bartenders shake drinks nonstop for an hour flat.
The staff are a credit to this establishment and of all the places I've visited in a week in Adelaide this place is the obvious standout.
I.
Hands down the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. Wonderful atmosphere and great drinks are at NOLA and you won't regret a visit!
S. P.
Awesome venue with great live music, cocktails where amazing, so well made! I would definitely return 🙌
R. L.
The craft beers and whisky range is phenomenal. We went here to get a taste of their the stouts and food to eat. Loved the place and the staff were very friendly. It can be slightly crowded but it is given since the place is very popular. The place great for a large crowds and by the look of it you can make reservations as the tables downstairs were booked.
J. W.
Great venue, Exceptional staff who actually give a rats. Food awesome. Drink options a plenty. Cocktails are truly crafted! Love coming here!
B. E.
This New Orleans inspired bar has one of the widest selections of exquisite whiskeys from around the world and excellent cocktails including my favourite, The Lady NOLA (pictured)
With some great cuisine from New Orleans, NOLA’s Southern Fried Chicken is the best this side of the Mississippi
M. W.
Really friendly staff. Super tasty food and great selection of beers
J. S.
Excellent choice of whiskies from around the world, more than 10 pages worth including Australian whiskey. Definitely recommend the spicy chicken and cornbread. Service is normally wonderful, been afew times. However when normal bar staff don't serve, whiskey service isn't great. I had a young lady drop 1/2 my whiskey on a number of occasions out of the glass. Paying almost $50 a dram, you would expect all to be in your glass, not on the table. No apologies made and no top up. That said, 5 stars and would recommend.
B. H.
Beers are always great, food is awesome. Service is hit and miss, guys could be more friendly and need to brush up on their bar banter skills.
P.
Great beer and whiskey! Friendly staff and a really cool interior and vibe!
Just needs some couches outside and a bit more shade
W. O.
Staff were awesome! Drinks were fantastic and the food was delicious!
B. G.
Walked through the doors we noticed a healthy amount of people, upstairs we secured a table with nice music in the background. Ordered some yummy cocktails with waffles & fried chicken , jalapeno cornbread and chorizo stuffed calamari. Was perfect just before our fringe show
A. P.
Found this by accident but what a perfect little beer and whiskey bar. Massive selection of quality whiskeys and 10 beer taps.
Food really good as well, friendly bar staff. Cool decor.
D. W.
Loved the food and cocktails at Nola. A great atmosphere, the best ribs and interesting cocktails
K. G.
Went for dinner on a Friday with our daughter and the staff were so accommodating, they didn't have a high chair but went next door to another place to borrow one for us. Great experience and great food. Beer selection is also top notch! Must try in Adelaide.
P. D.
Great selection of beers, including lots of interesting porters and stouts. Will be coming back here often I think!
S. M.
Such a cool place. A bit for everyone. Great staff, SUCH GOOD FRIED CHICKEN YES PLEASE. Partner was impressed with beer variety too.
S. H.
Nothing better than a wine and small corn bread snack. Great service, great set up, great atmosphere.
G. F.
Great service and extensive range of drinks, especially whisky. The cocktails are great too.
m. c.
Nice wide range of Whiskeys and interesting beers. Good food. Wonderful staff
I. W.
Nola is my go to venue for beer in the Eastern side of Adelaide and a must visit for their Cajun dishes. Jambalaya and the pork balls are my regulars.
A. C. (.
Great beer, a bit busy but still got served reasonably quickly. Arguably the best craft beer venue in Adelaide.
K. K.
They had an extensive whiskey menu. The beignets were perfect. The fried chicken was amazing. Finding a table was tough but the food was worth it.
S. L.
That was fabulous. Great service, easy order process and delicious food, it's a win-win! Highly recommended.
B.
Excellent sides and drinks. Would love to come back for a main
A. R.
Crispy chicken is amazing, always many different craft beers on tap, heaps of whiskey of you are into that
K. W.
The chicken took me back to NOLA <3 and the Espresso Du Monde was lovely. I'll need to go back for the Po'boy.
A. E.
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, delicious espresso martini!
J. K.
Could not be happier, great atmosphere, staff knowledgeable, friendly and relaxed.
It was perfect for me to unwind and have a relaxing drink late at night.
J. C.
Such an amazing an intimate place, one of the little gems in Adelaide well worth checking out. An amazing menu and a wide range of drinks available set in vardon place just of Rundle Street. Always super friendly staff and amazing service, hats of to the staff with their knowledge of wines and craft beers. Definitely an experience you won't regret
D. B.
Was introduced to Nola by a family friend and was pleasantly surprised.
Good range of craft beers, interesting cocktails and awesome Orleans/Cajun food.
Definitely a go to place for drinks and nibbles.
K. T.
A great place to catch up with friends for a few drinks. A very decent range of whiskies and some good beer.
P. S.
This place has been our bar to be for a long time but, unfortunately, lately I have noticed that some things have changed in a bad way. For example, today we ordered the plate with the brisket and it was really bad, most of the meat was fat and for the price it shouldn’t be like that. Also drinks were ok but before they used to be great. It’s a place that I always recommend to everyone but our last experiences have not being great.
E. C.
Drinks are good but the music is way too loud. Literally can never hear myself think.
S. A.
Fantastic funky bar and restaurant, when you are in Adelaide make sure you visit.
N. G.
Fantastic craft beer and whiskey bar with some nice cocktails and very tasty Cajun and Creole inspired food menu! I loved the Tater Tots and Cajun sweet potato Po'Boy! The craft beer menu (about 15 choices) constantly changes with some great Aussie craft beers. The atmosphere is always great and chilled with live music playing. Really enjoy coming here on my trips to Adelaide.
L. W.
Definitely one of my favourite places to go with friends and family. Very friendly service and the live music is a very nice touch. 10/10
A.
The atmosphere is incredible. Great range of rotating craft beers, and probably best Whisky selection in Adelaide. Staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. The Creole/Cajun food is also 10 out of 10, seriously treat yourself to the fried chicken.
B.
A top class venue with an extensive spirit list, and fried chicken to die for!
N. L.
Great little east end bar. Cool decor and normally funky music. Great selection of craft beers on tap as well as whiskeys. I have never had thr good but looks great
B. P.
Nola was again fantastic...beers, Hurricane's, fried chicken..all bloody marvellous
M. B.
Great drinks. Food was a little average
S. P.
Feeling really happy with this place the live music plus some drinks make your night more than fantastic
e. m.
Good selection of beer with some free tasting at reasonable prices
C.
Great food, Loved the atmosphere! and staff were very friendly.
P. R.
Great food, great beer, great whisk(e)y. What more could you want? Fried Chicken is amazing (I fully recommend the chicken and waffles), the range of local craft beer, especially on tap is extensive and continuously rotating so there's always something new to drink. And the whisk(e)y! All your favorites as well as some rare and hard to find are all here on the shelf ready for you to have a dram or two. Highly recommend.
Edit Nov 2021: Unfortunately the chicken and waffles are no longer on the menu however the fried chicken is still amazing as well as the rest of the menu.
S. R.
Came here on a busy Saturday night with some friends we had an absolute blast. The bartender was so friendly, so knowledgeable and created such a positive vibe. We had so much fun. Thank you to Vas for the incredible service and the amazing cocktails. We will definitely be back there again and highly recommend
P. F.
Food was excellent! Great Cajun spices.
Drinks service struggled with the full house upstairs.
K. M.
Good food, had a really tasty flight of delicious whiskies paired with great craft beer! Good energy, nice jazz music. A lot of fun!
J. A.
Very good food definitely plenty to choose from. Very good selection of beers on tap, definitely recommend if you drink dark beers. Didn't try the cocktails but seemed like a good selection that looked impressive. Not a great deal of seating so if they take bookings I would make a reservation to get a good seat.
K. W.
My wife took me into the city for my birthday & we visited several bars. Nola was an amazing place. The banana stout was great, sounds strange but nice. Jo tried one of their gins & it was her favourite of the night. Places like this are great & I recommend you visit.
H. L.
Saw some great country music upstairs. My friends had a lovely evening. Good range of drinks. Friendly staff.
L.
Great offer of craft beer (16 taps!), cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, and the Cajun food is absolutely delicious. I've found my new favourite spot in Adelaide.
S.
Love the atmosphere and vibe of the place. Great selection of food and drinks.
T. L.
You cannot book here. Very cramped. There were 6 of us, booths only really big enough for 4. Food was nice. Wine and soft drinks on the expensive side.
B. W.
Great food and experience, we had a few if their cocktails which where amazing and we shared the feed me option and added their fried chicken. Perfect location on the laneway just off Rundle street
C. W.
Try the chicken wings and the flaming cocktails when listening to live music!
D. S. (.
Great craft beers and american style beer. Downstairs bar can get a little busy, but you can always grab a drink at the upstairs bar which most people dont realise, except it doesnt have the full selection like the downstairs one does.
M. M. L.
Great cosy drinks place with friendly, receptive and attentive staff, plus excellent selection of cocktails, beers and wine. Been coming here over the years. All the better now that there's no live music wailing loudly upstairs!
Food menu's always been good but on last visit, execution of menu lacking somewhat. Beans and Rice was way too spicy and hot, had plenty when I was in New Orleans and never had a spicy Rice and Beans. Po'boy was sadly dry and lacklustre while the great ol Southern Fried nearer in version to a Korean Fried (nowt wrong with a good Korean fried, I must clarify).
Still, always good to be at the NOLA.
E. S.
Great environment to have drinks with friends. Lots of craft beer, but unfortunately not many good ones. Good music and vibe upstairs.
D. M.
Great range of drinks and funky music coming from upstairs. Tonight's amotsphere was especially cool as it the lights were dimmed and they were using candles. Anniversary of The Blackout apparently.
D. T.
Very nice, small, cosy bar with a southern style cuisine. I had some very nice southern fried chicken and a great gumbo. Staff are very friendly, well deserving it's 4.6 star rating and solid 5 from me.
S. H.
With about 15 or so Craft Beers on tap plus Craft Whiskey aswell... Nola is an obvious choice for a great Friday and Saturday night after work drinks.
E. R.
A fantastic little slice of the southern magic.
Great service and a lovely atmosphere.
Wonderfully varied drink selection and great beers.
S. C.
Very cool little bar with a great atmosphere. They have great range of craft beer on tap and a great list of cocktails. The food is the hero of the place though get around some of their fried chicken, watch out for the hot sauce! If you want to get the best experience I would suggest not going on a Friday or Saturday night, it gets very busy and the service gets a pretty slow.
w. b.
This place is da bomb! Friendly knowledgeable staff and a wide range of whiskys.. my kind of place!
s. g.
Excellent selection of craft beers and wiskey as far as the eye can see. Huge voice for those who love something different. Southern Style food is fantastic
M. M.
Great range of craft beer and cocktails, always very tasty. The food is good too, the music is a good volume and the ambience is great. Service is usually very good.
J. R.
Excellent selection of whiskeys with knowledgeable staff.
E. G.
Great as always! Delicious food I can never walk pass! Staff is very attentive, and they are always try to find the special way to treat each customer.
L. S.
Stop looking for options and GO HERE!
Amazing cocktails, fantastic staff and great local music. Great prices and top quality offering.
Thanks to the guys for looking after us on Thursday. A great night and welcoming spot.
Thanks to Nola owners - still putting supporting live music last Thursday, despite the crazy economy.... legends. Coming from Melbourne for a long weekend we loved it. We will be back here and recommend it to everyone!
L. M.
This place, so good. The New Orleans feel is nailed and the menu is spot on with food from the south.
We had the Pickle Sour on tap and it was awful but all part of the experience.
We had some Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce which made me pucker up but good god the wings were good.
N. J.
Great range of whisky and bourbon and very friendly bar staff. They also know their whisky and have good recommendations.
A. M.
Easy to see why NOLA is popular. The food is very reminiscent of what you would find in Louisiana - tends to be a hard ask in Australia. The dishes don't scrimp on flavour and they aren't pretentious. The bar is supported by a comprehensive list of beers and cocktails to round off the night. Clearly a hit with the locals.
L. W.
Amazing arrange of craft beers, food is top tier. The service was excellent, the staff are very friendly and have great knownledge of whiskey/craft beers. I look forward to returning to this pub and trying some new beers.
A. A.
Love this place overall. Good amount of beers and spirits. Spicy fried chicken is a must.
P. B.
I do really like this place. Serves a good variety of unusual beers. Downstairs is booths and barstools with a friendly team at the bar.
Upstairs is a neon-lit, intimate venue with another small bar and a compact stage in the corner, boasting, from what I've seen, some really talented local and national jazz artists.
Only eaten there once and I have to say it was pretty special. A slightly off-kilter menu that nonetheless hangs together very well, incredibly tasty with good sized portions. Highly recommended!
L. T.
Perfect place for a pint on a nice day. There was a good selection of beer, and plenty of other drinks if beer isn't your thing. Friendly staff who make extra effort for the customer's experience. For us they tracked down a high chair from the business next door 😃 the food is delicious, especially the fried chicken.
c. p.
Wonderful spot. The fit out is excellent and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. If you know/care at all about craft beer then you have to come here, they always have something interesting on their 16 taps. Plus the whiskey selection is great and the staff can actually help you if you don't know a lot. There is no pretentiousness here, just a genuine love of good booze. And the fried chicken is to die for. Just bring back the salted cod fish balls!!
D.
My friends and I have been here a few times recently and we love it here! The atmosphere, the decor, the drinks and the staff!! They are all wonderful! We love trying different drinks and eating the pecan pralines and 100% would recommend this place to others!!
R. R.
We choose a Sunday to dine here and we choose the Big Easy for dinner, not having to make a choice about what to order for dinner was a bonus. A nice selection of dishes was brought out in a reasonable succession that allowed us to enjoy cocktails and chatting. Cocktail selection was not huge, but offered a good amount of unique ones that made our choice harder, but more frequent. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly, making our experience thoroughly enjoyable. Worth a visit.
b. s.
If you like whisky and people knowledgeable about whisky, this is your spot. If you want a pint of something less vanilla than the typical offerings this is your spot. If you like good food and a great vibe....you guessed it. Go.
J. -.
Excellent selection of whisk(e)y and beer, with lots of great cocktails on offer.
The food menu only offers a small selection to chose from but everything is delicious - the ol' dirty rice and Jack be little pumpkin is amazing. Great value as well - especially the 39$ feed me option.
The atmosphere including music makes for a perfect night out. Oh! And it is super cozy in winter.
We'll definitely be back.
S. L.
awesome beer and food. very new orleans style. unique experience
R. A.
cozy, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a nice drink, good music and some creole food, soooooo guud…
A. K.
My partner and I went here for a Thursday date night and enjoyed the incredible foods on offer and some of the best cocktails I've ever had. The cornbread made a cynic a believer, the pork boudin balls were like arranchini on steroids. The fried chicken needs no introduction and the jambalaya was like a warm hug from an aunty you didn't you you needed. Their espresso du monde is hands down the best espresso martini in Adelaide - it even has a mini beignet on the top (get the beignets after dinner - you cannot regret it) and to top it all off, there was a very talented guitarist playing some soul soothing Louisiana blues over the whole thing.
10/10 will remember this night forever ❤️
T. M.
New Orleans inspired whiskey and craft beer bar. Nice old stone building, 2 levels. Comfortable booths for a nice drink in a relaxing atmosphere. Jazz tones played through the speakers. Does get busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but other times are quite relaxing. Limited menu range, but what they have is delightful, especially the fried chicken.
A. S. (. f.
One of the better beer and whisky bars in Adelaide, given the selection. All of the staff are pretentious yet don’t know a lot about the drinks in offer. Food is okay although can be quite a bit hit and miss. Good spot to pop in for a quick drink or to stay the afternoon/evening and hang with friends. Just don’t expect a good discussion with the team behind the bar unless you love being talked down to. Great for groups and events, too.
R.
The drowsiness of the first bartender was made up for by the neon sign and pink paint on the wall. The second bartender was glowing and the third tried to school me as though he’d spent too much time in the gym locker room during covid. Look, customer service here is not always bon bons and waffles people, but I still recommend this bar. Its cosy, it has soul and the food is badass like if chuck norris was a steak sandwich.
S. S.
Always a favourite spot of mine. They always have a good range of craft beers on tap which they rotate. They keep their Facebook page up to date with their beers 🙂 The food is very good and is one of the closest to American style I've had here - the hot chicken was done right 👍
K.
Fantastic little spot
Went here on a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed.
Great atmosphere with a strong Southern American feel. So many whiskeys to choose from, great range of craft beers from all over. Amazing Southern food, we had the fried chicken and it was something else!!!
R. S. (.
Cute little bar, but needs more beads hanging from the Bannister to really give it that NOLA feel.
The courtyard is really nice, and it's much easier to hold a conversation out there as the music inside is pretty loud.
We were lucky to visit when the Glenfiddich bar bus was there - drinking a whisky cocktail whilst sitting on the top deck of a bus? Winning!
K. S.
Best fried chicken in Adelaide. Hands down. And a selection of dips to extremely hot. Wow.
We tried some of the selection of beers and the beignets, the sauce that came with them was fantastic, beignets were soft and tasty.
T. R.
Chic alleyway bar in the East End of Adelaide. Great selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The chicken is to die for!
Check the website for musician dates and times. Small venue. Will visit again.

The beers are many, the drinks are cold and ready to serve . This is my favourite place when i go to the city to drink and have a good time .. ps the staff are fantastic as they laughed at my bad jokes 😀😃
K. W.
As of the time of the visit I was not sure I could have anything on the drinks menu. Hubby went to the bar and explained that I was pregnant and was hoping they had just some juice or something as it didn't have much or anything I could have. They were nice enough to create a mocktail on the spot just for me. I was very impressed and appreciative that they did that for me. Definitely would recommend.
A. F.
Nicely made cocktails, nice environment. I think what I didn't like is that the space is too narrow and as a result the tables people eat and those where people just have their drinks.
H. K.
Great selection of craft beers and delicious food menu serving till late. The spicy chicken is a must try. There is a bar downstairs and upstairs. It has a cool jazz music vibe and in a great spot in Adelaide's East end. Another thing that I like about it is that it has unisex toilets (we're all human and need to pee sometimes!)
S. M.
Good selection of craft beer.... didn't managed to get around to the whiskey. Recommend checking it out. Will be back for seconds
A. M.
Great bar, lovely atmosphere even mid week, great live music and selection of beers. Really good food.
R. E.
This previous Saturday my partner and I visited NOLA and we were extremely satisfied with our experience! The service was immaculate, our food came out in a timely manner and the staff were polite and hospitable for the entirety of our visit. I’ll be recommending this venue to all of my family and friends can’t wait to go back!
L. G. L.
Oh Lord. This place is amazing. I'm a massive whisky lover and I walked into heaven at Nola. The staff were amazing and ultra knowledgeable. I'd say some random description and they would come up with the perfect matched dram. Such an awesome experience. Also great food.
L. S.
Very relaxed place, Good service, great drinks list, we only tried the chicken as we were not hungry, and it was fantastic. I would definitely return to try more item from their menu
H. H.
Great spot, cocktails are great, chicken is out of this world but beer is horrible. Very average examples of local craft, almost entirely overly bitter, overly sour or both, never has a good beer on tap. Just craft beer that tastes more like home brew, however the hipsters will convince it’s supposed to taste like that.
B. L.
A good range of craft beers available. Cool hangout with mates or partner. Great, professional service. All around pleasant atmosphere
S. C.
Fantastic little bar hidden away just off Rundle St.
The signage is so minimal that it's barely noticeable.
I would never have described myself as a Whiskey drinker (more a Whisky person), but the service was top notch and the recommendations were perfect. My eyes have been oipened to a whole new drinking world.
Background music was perfect ambiance to match the decor.
Great place to finish a night out.
J. C.
I started my birthday celebrations off with drinks at NOLA and I became a fan pretty darn quickly. Even though it was packed, my friends and I had no problems getting served our drinks and the cocktails were delicious. Staff were a bit aloof with some too-cool-for-you vibes but that seems to be pretty standard in the small bar scene. The crowd was pretty varied, from uni students in their oversized denim jackets to a more businessy suited crowd.
M. T.
Always an interesting selection of unusual beers, wines and whiskeys on tap, with excellent snacks too. I liked the sour ginger beer despite my colleagues preferring the guava. Worth going to decide for yourself.
G. M.
Great cocktails, service and selection of beers
D. T.
Amazing experience - tried all sorts of food (pork , chicken , brisket, beignets) and some craft beers. Food was delicious , drinks were great, nice atmosphere, will be back
E. T.
Great house cocktails!
X.
Amazing fried chicken and great selection of beer, and all their other food is delicious as well. Consistently great.
EDIT: And now they're on uber eats, looking forward to ordering way more times than i should!
N. S.
Awesome place, great food.....my only complaint, the music playing didn't match the bar...hoping for a little more blue!
S. M.
Classy place. Good vibe. Decent range of craft beer and other beverages. Didn't eat anything there, so I can't comment on the food.
P. M.
Best bar in Adelaide. Great selection of beers and whiskey. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Fantastic atmosphere and good choice of music. The food is very tasty and a good drinking companion but probably not the best place to go for a full meal.
M. C.
Such a great experience, delightful staff awesome beer and whisky selection and the food is amazing! A top of the list visit for any time I'm in Adelaide
D. P.
great service and the drinks are way better than other craft beers on the market. Reason being is that you can actually taste and recognise the flavour of the beer - really well made stuff - keep it up
b. m.
Great place for a unique drink in a unique setting. Wonderful menu of creole and southern US favourites.
A. G.
First time going and was quite impressed. Cosy venue with a great feel. Awesome cocktails and range of beers and whisky. The pulled pork po-boy was delicious! Will definitely be back.
J. B.
Food and drinks are delivered in a high standard. Unfortunately, one of the waiters/bartender has got an attitude problem. I ordered a cocktail and when warned he was using the wrong spirit according to the menu, he refused to acknowledge, suggested that I was wrong and still gave me the cocktail the way he thought it should be. Later, when he brings the food, I sense some irony, probably because before I had asked him to check the menu for the cocktails specs, something he never did.
M. M.
Great bar, huge range of whisky. The place to stop for a drink in the East End.
M. L.
Great atmosphere, friendly service, superb food.
A. K.
Great always-changing craft beer selection, not for the unadventurous. Good bar menu balances solid beer-food staples with some excellent refined offerings to cater to a range of palates. Nails the Louisiana atmosphere vibe.
P. H.
Loved it, great choice of craft beers (it can take a while to decide) and whiskeys. We shared the jambalaya and the soft shell crab which were excellent. Nice atmosphere too
J. A.
This place is awesome. Great vibe and craft beers
A. S.
I love this bar, awesome whiskey selection and great beers on tap. They have really tasty snacks like fried chicken if you get the munchies. Cool atmosphere and great knowledgeable staff. #BeatTheGrind
I. L.
Good selection of food, whiskey and beer.
A. D.
Awesome food and drink selection. Knowledge and friendly staff serving craft beer and cocktails (I didn't try their whisky)
Be sure to catch a live blues set on a Thursday evening and try the fried chicken!
A. C.
Have visited NOLA a few time on my trips back to Adelaide. It's a cool little bar with some good food and usually a great beer selection. On my last visit they were doing a tap takeover for Queensland breweries and it wasn't great. The staff are cool and helpful though.
T. M.
Amazing fried chicken. Best I've ever had. A little pricey though but if you feel like splashing, it is well worth it
j. t.
Never ending selection of rotating craft beers from across and Australia and beyond. Ideal for craft brew lovers to pop around for tapped goodness. Haven't tried the foods but the list of reasonably priced craft beers is worth 6 stars alone.
C.
9/10 upstairs restrooms very progressive. Old mate bartender gave us good bantz and good drinks.
N. v. H. P.
Great beer selection, incredible whisky range and the food is fantastic too. I'll be a return customer.
The staff are good value! Lots of fun.
E. M.
Drinks menu is a hard one to walk past. It has something for everyone - great selection.
My current top 3: The Lady Nola, Old Fashioned, or their cucumber water!
Food: Southern Fried Chicken - on its own or with the waffles or with anything you can get it with... #gamechanger
C. D.
Awesome bar if you want great craft beer, awesome whiskey collection and excellent atmosphere!!
C. J.
Good hearty food (the fried chicken and cornbread are amazing). Service is a little lacking and lazy, but otherwise this is a good place to eat. Also handy during fringe time for its location near he garden of unearthly pleasure and gluttony.
M. S.
Very interesting craft beer selection and excellent cocktails. The member of bar staff that served us had a very good knowledge of the beers on tap and advise.
L. R.
Great little bar with good soul food. The kitchen is tiny but they still manage to bring good food out in a timely fashion. Their choice of beers and whiskeys/whiskys is also very good.
J. P.
Fantastic selection of fresh beer on tap from all over the country and world. Great atmosphere, friendly staff who know what they’re talking about and the snacky food selections are all excellent.
G. R. S.
Live jazz upstairs although I remained downstairs smashing the fairly priced beer from across Aust. Def no SA craft beer allegiance here but enjoyed trying some newies. Although avoid the sours unless your a fan.
M. F.
Good selection of craft beers with knowledgeable staff. Food was also good and the service was super friendly and welcoming friendly and welcoming . Would become a regular of we lived here.
R. T.
Simply one of Adelaide greats.
Great food. Great drinks. Great staff.
W. G.
Great small Trendy Whiskey Bar and Brewey Bar that has a good selection of both of these drinks. They also have a good food menus but we didn't eat at this time.
Nice fun place away from the main drag of Rundle East End
A. M.
Best fried chicken in Adelaide!
C. S.
Wonderful selection of spirits and whisky, great range of craft beers that change regularly 🍺 Food is very good. Place is very cosy and has great atmosphere. A regular destination for me 🤙
K. H.
In a city that lacks the culture of others, at least these guys know their beer. You'll feel at home here if travelling from better places. I also recommend Wheatsheaf pub and visiting the many breweries in SA that local pubs seems to not want to stock.
N. W.
Such a great selection of beers, and an awesome menu to see you through dinner, or just a nibble to go with your drinks. And the bar and kitchen staff are great.
R. P.
Brilliant little bar with a great beverage selection, amazing food and decent live music. Was a great find.
M. C.
Highly recommended food and drinks at a supa friendly place. Rotating beers taps, unique spirits and delicious food. Perfect
T.
Great range of whiskies, friendly staff, love the location. Could be a little more generous on the shots.
L. C.
A nice venue with live plants hanging on the chandelier.
A good selection of craft beers and moonshine.
Great place to hang out after work.
M. L.
NOLA has great food, great craft beer, and a wonderful atmosphere. From lovely service to traditional Cajun food, NOLA has many reasons to visit and have a wonderful time.
L. T.
I'm never disappointed with the staff or drinks at NOLA. Happy welcoming people that have great suggestions. There's a good beer variety and cocktails are top.

S. A.
Delicious food (solid fried chicken game), great beers, and a respectable library of brown liquor. Hope to see gumbo and jambalaya make it on the menu!
R. C.

Not a bad place for some good craft beer. Staff are excellent and there is a good but small selection on the board. Had a couple and was happy.
C. L.
Excellent staff, excellent drinks, excellent atmosphere! Gorgeous little setting area upstairs and some great beers, wines, and cocktails on offer too!
D. H.
Great atmosphere and selection of beers, nice food options as well. Only negative can be a bit of a wait time to be served if there are cocktail orders.
S. A.
The chicken. Oh my gosh, the chicken. If you go here, and enjoy fried chicken, get the fried chicken. So tasty
K. M.
What a great idea and venue. With the varieties of beer and whiskeys these lads will source should be good for a visit every time I'm in the city. East end local and innovative and tasty food. Great fun.
J. J.
Chicken was mostly just fried batter
C. W.
Great range of craft (mostly local) beers, delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommend.

W. O.
Always love visiting. Great atmosphere, fun vibe, great food.
J. C.
Was a bit skeptical spending 40 bux on 12 piece of chicken from UberEATS but my God. The chicken was still crunchy AF even though t had been boxed up and delivered. You could honestly taste the good quality ingredients. Delicious!
S. D.
The chicken amd the whiskey are both top class
B. R.
Man I love this place. Always have something interesting on tap and you can bring the fussiest of friends along and the bar staff will still find them a drink they'll enjoy.
L. T.
We had our 2017 staff Christmas Party here and it was soooo goooood. The food was fab and the cocktails were amazing. It helped that I wasn't paying, but I wouldn't have been disappointed if I was.
D. W.
Exactly what Adelaide's CBD has needed for many many years. While there are some pubs which do have a selection of craft beer - aside from the Wheaty, this is just about the next best thing to having a venue which is dedicated to delivering you a wide range of ever changing beer choices (and some whiskies too). The bar food is good but not large enough for a meal, it would be nice if you could get something substantial here but that's no biggy, there's plenty of places to eat around the corner.
G. L.
Great little place. Love the live music and the atmosphere. Staff are friendly and had good drinks.
D. C.
Highlight of my most recent trip to Adelaide - what is there not to like - stunning decor, plenty craft beers on tap and some amazing New Orleans inspired food of which the Fried Chicken and the Brisket were an absolute knock out of the park. Will be back Nola... will be back.
I. K. (.
Fantastic food, great drinks and atmosphere. Would 100% return.
S. D. M.
Don't order the $55 meat special if you are more than 2 people. Total RIP off for our group of 6 who paid too much for too little. Oh and if you're thirsty. You'll wait plenty for that friday night drink.
Enough said.
C. V.
Amazing vibe, mostly great bar staff, and an incredible drinks menu. Could work on bar service as they completely overlooked my partner who was technically next line but had to wait a few extra minutes for service. Aside from that, great venue.
T. L.
Awesome place with an excellent selection of craft beers and whiskey. Would definitely recommend the fried chicken, chicken and waffles and gumbo!
R. T.
