I’m not normally a gin fan but this place has me converted! Great flavours and the selection of gins are HUGE! What set it apart however was the great service from the bartending staff in selecting drinks and choosing the best gin combo for what we were after - they nailed! I tend to gravitate towards the Howling Owl for after work Friday night drinks. It has a huge choice of Gin which you would sort of expect considering it's a gin bar. :) They also do coffee and food too. The few times I've had a coffee here it's been awful so best stick to the wonderful gin! :) Like I needed an excuse!

Great location in the east end. A fairly young clientele but they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Large range of gin, as is to be expected with a gin specialty bar. We ordered two cocktails and both were terrible, however. So I won’t be lauding their mixology standards - stick with a G+T and if you’re serious cocktail lover, go elsewhere.

I stumbled across this place when my baby wouldn't settle in the cinemas. I just wanted to say thanks to the staff for being so kind to me and my screaming baby. It's the small service things that count sometimes, like warning me that smokers are on a certain side so I can breastfeed away from smoke, and carrying my coffee over. The inside atmosphere looked chill and I'll definitely be back for some gin on a child free night ☺️

Excellent selection of Gins and local SA drinks Generous platters to keep you going. Superb staff. I'll also annotate this review. We stopped in here twice in two days. The first visit, one of the excellent staff forgot our platter and we had to move on as we had limited time. He was super apologetic, refunded the platter cost straight up and also gave us a 2 for 1 Gin card. So we visited again the next day. And still deserve the 5 stars. A great little Gin Joint.

Howling at the prices. Arrived in a party of four for a few drinks. Lovely place with great atmosphere. We were 20 minutes early for happy hour on a dead Monday. $12 each for a beer and house wine was way more than I’m comfortable with. Good luck to them making that kind of profit. Maybe we should have had gin.

Great place in the East end recommended for gin enthusiasts. We had the gin tasting boards (tried both) and thoroughly enjoyed them. Best taste went to the gunpowder gin. Had a couple of platters too where the food was fresh, tasty and a generous serving. Had a great time and will definitely return.

Incredible drinks, gorgeous platters, and amazing service! I recently organised a hen's night and we spent the first few hours here. The team were so helpful with the arrangements even though I was planning from another state. They went out of their way to give us a great experience and their customer service was excellent. The range of drinks, especially gin cocktails was outstanding. Being able to get coffees as well was a pro! The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I really only leave reviews when something is so great that I feel motivated - the cheese platters and drinks were enough alone but the service took it to a new level!!

The place has moved since I last visited which demonstrates how little I leave the depths of suburban Adelaide. Came here for a drink during the opening weekend of the fringe. Great local and foreign gin selection which has expanded since we last came. The seating arrangement is much more comfortable. We had a great night at The Howling Owl. A slight mix up with our booking but the guys fixed everything quickly and really made us feel welcome and valued. Lovely atmosphere, and in a great spot with the gallery and rhino rooms so close. An amazing range of gin and cocktails as well as wine and beer. The pastries at the counter look absolutely delicious and trying them is on my to-do list. Can get quite busy after work on a Friday but a lovely place to grab a well deserved one before you go home. Or onto the next place.

I had my 21st at the new location (@ Vaughan Place) and couldn't have had a better experience. The place looked great and the staff were extremely friendly/helpful. The owners were excellent, despite being overwhelmingly busy with the move, they remained professional and answered all my questions and scheduled times to meet and discuss my night. On the night, one of the owners even helped mum carry in flowers and my cake from the car in the pouring rain, beautiful people! Also great value for $$, high recommend if you are looking for somewhere to have a function!

Went there for a friends birthday. We’re not big gin drinkers and had an Old Fashion. It was good, it was our bartenders first night so she was a bit unsure what bourbons they had, but she still did a good job of mixing the drink. We followed that up with tea and cake which came out on cute china and we enjoyed. We had carrot cake and chocolate raspberry mud cake. The carrot cake was a bit nicer as the mud cake was a bit sweeter then I like and a little dense, although the sweetness was just right for my partner. Our only real complaint for the night was the music was pretty loud and got louder through the evening. Seeing as everyone was there to just talk over a drink, turning down the volume would have improved the experience since we were shouting at each other to be heard.

Good little move, the location is great. Ya got your gins, your SA Beers, ya expensive cocktails, ya lovely upstairs that no one is allowed to go and ya lovely seating everywhere. Give this one a go if you haven't been. It's popular with the gentrification crowd but hey, that's cool. If you feel like scumming it up, the elephant and Exeter are nearby. I'd rate this 4/5 poor uni students.

I booked the gin tasting experience (with grazing board) for my partner and I. 2 different options available with 4 different gins each, 2 different tonics and different botanicals for each gin. Came with a handy sheet to explain which botanicals to use for which gin. From the booking to the end of the night we had a great experience - Rachel did an amazing job organising my booking and Hugh was very accomodating and informative that we thoroughly enjoyed our night! Reasonable price for the tasting too! Great location, great atmosphere, great service and of course great gin - couldn't reccomend this venue and the tasting experience more! Thank you!

As a cafe, it’s somewhat mediocre. Drinks are excellent, but breakfast selection could be better, e.g. adding croissants or some other simple form of savoury breakfast. Also adding some pillows at the booths would be lovely. Additionally, great music taste 😁

BRILLIANT! We recently held a joint 30th function on the mezzanine floor of The Howling Owl. We searched and searched for a place that was relaxed with a good food and drink selection without being stupidly priced. Everywhere failed... then we found The Howling Owl. Organising the event was a breeze, helped along with a tasting of the drinks selection of course! Rachel & Mick were so welcoming and provided honest feedback and suggested changes to our selection. We organised a bar tab with discounted drinks. Everyone loved the selection and didnt mind paying the discounted rate. It meant the tab run well late into the night! Alana and Lindon served us and they were absolutely amazing! For us hosts it was awesome to know we were in great hands. We can not recommend this place enough and has certainly become a frequent drinking venue! THANK YOU!
