Been here few times. Always like it. Bit A bit dissapointed on our last visit. Snitzels are a bit burnt and the mushroom sauce doesn't taste like mushroom sauce. Sorry.

Such a nice heritage pub tucked away at the bottom of the gillies. Went there after lunch and was surprised to find they served food all day! I had the fish and chips and and they nailed this classic well. My partner is gluten free and got the fried chicken burger. Imagine her joy discovering that they not only had a gluten free burger bun but even the fried chicken that went in it was gluten free as well. It was crispy and delicious to the last bite. Talk about food envy! Definitely coming back here soon!

Love the atmosphere, the views on the deck, the history snapshot through the photos. The people working there were amazingly helpful. Gave them a challenge for my drink order and they took it on board. Meals were perfect size and supported great local beers that were consumed.

Love this spot and now under new ownership it has just got that much better. (Try the Espresso Martinis) So happy they've been able to stay open so far with so much staff shortages due to Covid in the region. Great work MV Team!

What a great QLD pub!! The bar staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered the parmi and my partner ordered the chicken burger. Best meals we have had from a pub! Views from the front are stunning and the back area with views of the river are beautiful . We will be back.

This pub would have to have the best outdoor beer garden with the most amazing setting in Australia. Sitting on their deck, looking at the Little Mulgrave river flowing underneath, surrounded by beautiful green tropical rainforest, is very special. The pub itself is great too and Maddy behind the bar was so nice and helpful. She showed us around and even took us out the back to show us their amazing deck. They are very proud of it and rightly so. Really nice pool table and only $1 a game and a juke box to choose your music for $1 for a couple of songs. Happy hour is from 5pm to 6pm and the Bulmers Cider on tap goes down from $6 a schooner to only $5 for the hour. They also put some credit on the jukebox so you can choose some songs for free and get the happy hour rocking. The jag the joker was up to $1,800 the Friday night we were there. You get a ticket for every drink purchased and the lucky ticket drawn lets you turn over one of the cards on the board and if it is the joker, you take home the money. They draw the lucky ticket at 8pm. They have live music most Sunday afternoon and you can enjoy a nice meal as well. There are a few different camping options if you want to stay near the hotel. There is camping to the left of the hotel for $20 a night but if you prefer free camping, there is a couple of options as well. To the right of the hotel before, the bridge there is some free campsites. Then over the bridge and turn left and there are more campsites on the other side of the Little Mulgrave river. We chose to go down Roos Rd opposite the hotel and about 900m to the Mulgrave river and lots of free campsites there too. The 900m stroll up to the pub is beautiful and we were surprised to see all the hundreds of Cane Toad tadpoles in the water. Each female Cane Toad can lay 3000 eggs and we could see the result. The Mountain View hotel near Gordonvale, North Queensland is a very popular pub for people to visit on weekends and you can see a lot of nice motorbikes and cars there as people stop off on their weekend ride or cruise, for a refreshing ale. The campsite we chose is absolute paradise and cooling off in the Beautiful Crystal clear water was so good. So if you are in the Atherton Tablelands in North Queensland, don't miss this beautiful hotel. It is a visit you will remember.

Friendly staff in a unique location. Great place to have a quick feed and beverage after riding up or down the gillies range. The staff there are generally cyclist and definitely motorcyclist friendly. There is plenty of car parks and shade, you can can even go for a short work down to the creek for a swim. Only one point down as it would be nice to see the place get a facelift...just being optimistic, but it’s also got its Qld charm.

Update: now the MV hotel! It’s still one of our fav simple dinner spots. New owners hospogroup. They are much faster service and meals are more standardised. Which is a good thing. My fish and chips was fantastic. The burgers and simple kids meals are awesome. You can be a local Member and get 10% off meals etc. the kids equipment is gone -can you put a new one in please??? Even a little area fenced with some toys? Best gin the wolf lane. 😍 Great laid back country spirit still here. Perfect stop before going up or down the gillies range. ~Dine in is now compulsory Vaccinated status ONLY. Which they hate and we hate too. But that’s the rules. Don’t push them because they can get fined. Everyone needs to stay calm and kind~ This place is a must visit. For people after the local food and atmosphere. Very nicely ~upgraded. Meals were big and spot on for price. We had the special. So great a view. Never come without mozzie repellent. The kids loved the indoor room. And the live band on sat night was great! The outdoors is soo beautiful.

What a beautiful hotel and surrounding grounds. It is a credit to the owner. We had an amazing day with all the classic cars and motorbikes on show. The food was bloody good too. Will definitely make the effort to go there again in the near future. Today was a very special day, raising funds for the owner who has recently been very ill and is still recovering so we hope there was a substantial amount of money raised for him. Behind the handsome exterior of the Mountain View is a fantastic recently added covered deck overlooking the lovely Mulgrave River. Great place to kick back for a while. It's only 30 min from downtown Cairns.

What a great find this pub is! We were staying with friends who are locals to this pub and went for dinner on their recommendation. Food was awesome, well priced and huge portions. Try the chicken schnitzel with avocado and hollendaise, it shouldn't work, but is amazing! Wife's surf and turf was good, kids meals were generous and came with a juice and dessert. No dedicated kids area, although I'm told it's coming soon. But the outdoor area was enormous and kid (6 year olds) suitable. Indoor dining area also well setup. Staff were friendly and helpful and very understanding of kids. Good range of drinks, all reasonably priced. Would give six stars if I could.

It's pretty, in a basic way, lots of space front and back, beer garden, and rarely crowded. The publicans are very friendly, but don't expect your boutique beers. Great location though, bring your swimmers for a swim in the creek later.

We stopped in for lunch. Loved the seating area out the back and the live music playing. One strange thing though was everywhere we sat people were smoking. This included the destinated eating area and live music area, even though the designated smoking area had probably the best place in the pub. Right on the creek under the shade. The kids are also free to swim in the creek, a huge bonus in summer.

Tremendous pub. Absolutely beautiful. The timberwork is astounding and everything in the pub has been set out well. There's plenty of room to move both inside and outside. The beer garden area overlooks the creek and has been built quite high up in relation to the creek. The entire area on which the pub has been built is very picturesque. All of the staff are very talkative and certainly enjoyable to engage in conversation with. The feed from the kitchen is quite good and really does the job. You won't be left hungry afterwards. The Mountain View hotel is situated at the bottom of the Gillies ranges. So it's a good point in which to start or finish at. If you are a motorcyclist. A lemon squash if you're about to start, or a few XXXX when you have finished. Either way you'll enjoy this pub. I rate it very highly.

Mountain View Hotel is a great place to take your family for lunch. We were there last Sunday. We went with Kelly Dixon and his family. Kelly is responsible for writing many a song for Slim Dusty including the Classic ''Leave Him In The Longyard'' We had a wonderful afternoon sitting at a lovely big table under the beautiful big mango tree and my friends requested Waylon,Willie & Johnny Cash songs & Dave Kirk sang and played these and many other old favorites out on the veranda. Do yourself a favor and go there for your next meal.

My Partner and I went for Dinner at The Mountain View Hotel tonight and we're blown away by how wonderful the experience was. Our meals were without fault and the service is second to none- especially from one of the bar staff in particular- Emily. Emily was friendly, helpful and very accommodating- she made the experience really stand out and we will definitely be back regularly.
