The staff here were very kindly and very helpful with explaining how to use the online menu and how to apply my discount card. The food came out quite fast and was generally good. I ate it quite fast also as I didn't have time to take a photo. I had the Wagyu beef with chips and calamari topper. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but I suffered very painful food poisoning the following which I can only attribute to the calamari as it was the only odd thing I ate that day before. Otherwise it was a pleasant pub and nice enough atmosphere.

I recently hosted a surprise party at the Newmarket Hotel and was so happy with the service. Prior to and during the event, the staff (especially Tony) were incredibly friendly, quick to respond to my emails/calls and very helpful. Everything went perfectly thanks to the staff. The food (platters and pizzas) and the space were both great (not too crowded, good music, sectioned off, enough seating, good lighting, private bar access). I would definitely host another event here!

Our family visited Newmarket hotel on Monday 25th for our son's birthday. We ended up quite late (about 30 minutes before close ~8:35pm), the staffs were very friendly, and all the waitresses had smiles on their face, which I found lovely. We ordered 4 steaks, and all the steaks came out perfectly cooked, and beautifully plated. It was so good that we wanted to order more steaks, but unfortunately it was already past 9 so the kitchen was closed. We will definitely come back for more steaks and good mood in general, and I wanna say thank you to the chef and waitresses for making our son's birthday.

Four of us lunched at the Newmarket in early May. We had a fab afternoon and everything ran smoothly. The Newmarket is part of the ALH Group, which owns and runs a number of pub and accommodation venues in Brisbane. We’ve been to a few of them recently, and they’ve all displayed the same high standard of cleanliness and professionalism; with super fast service and outstanding food. Prices are affordable and modest, making these venues accessible to everyone. When you walk into the Newmarket, you’ll know that you’re in for a pleasant time. It’s a large, airy and spacious place with a classic retro look and feel about it. It oozes warmth, homeliness and comfort with high ceilings, carpets throughout, and solid wooden chairs or upholstered benches, and large tables. There was a decent turnout, so the place was fairly full when we arrived at 1.00pm, but the ambience was relaxed, casual and laid back. Despite the crowds, acoustics are good due to the carpets, high ceilings and well spaced out tables. We were greeted by Margot, the maitre d, when we arrived, asked to complete the Covid protocols, before being shown to our booked table in a nice spot near the back, with bench type seating for two and solid wooden chairs for the other two. Full table service is offered, including for drinks, so we didn’t need to leave our table. We started with a few rounds of our favourite Moscato Red at $8 a glass and a pot of refreshing Stella at $7. The food menu is extensive and varied, with something for everyone, including all the usual pub favourites, like schnitzels steaks, seafood and pastas. And best of all, for us “oldies” a seniors menu, which you can avail yourself of, by showing your seniors card, which we did. We ordered calamari. sirloin steak and rissoles to share. All dishes come with chips and salad or mash and vegetables, and at $14 a dish, that’s unbeatable value for money.The serving sizes were generous and the quality of the food was first class. To start with, the calamari was soft and chewy, and served with crispy chips and salad. The main courses were equally good. My wife’s steak was well cooked, just the way she likes it, whilst my rissoles were fresh and tasty and smothered in a warm, rich gravy sauce to give it extra zest and flavour. The mash was soft and creamy, a nice contrast to the crunchy vegetables, which included broccoli, carrots, cabbage and corn. Our friends both had chicken breast schnitzel, with chips and salad and they also enjoyed their meals. The presentation was impressive, everything neatly arranged on the plates and served on stylish, modern crockery. But it’s in the service department that the ALH Group hotels really excel, and the Newmarket is no exception. Margot, the maitre d’ who was also our server, together with another smartly dressed lady in a black uniform, were hardworking, attentive and friendly. These guys don’t miss a beat and the place hums like a well oiled machine. After we’d signed in and been shown to our table, our orders were taken. Drinks, starters and main courses came out at a steady clip and in the correct order. And it’s all done with a pleasant smile and a cheery demeanour. The staff do their best to ensure that all guests have a pleasant time, and they clearly take pride in their work. The toilets were clean, well provisioned and strategically situated just in front of the main bar counter. The Newmarket Hotel is conveniently located in the Newmarket Village, a shopping and entertainment hub. It’s a breeze to get to, with ample, free undercover parking in the basement of the centre. From the parking area, we took the lift up and found ourselves right in front of the hotel. Couldn’t be easier. The Newmarket offers an affordable and enjoyable dining experience; with tasty food, outstanding, professional and competent service and a comfortable and homely atmosphere. Overall, an excellent venue that I can recommend.

Cooked superbly and tasted great. Only mention would be the size of the eye fillet. Its too small in comparison to another great steak venue in Brisbane Amazing seating areas and lots of TV screens to catch all the sports action I highly recommend dining in, having a drink or two or even a punt Best part is that they have CANADIAN CLUB & DRY on tap....make sure you ask for fresh lime too🤩🤩 Thank you🙌🏽💯

My mum and I had Christmas Day lunch 2021 and it was PERFECT beautiful fresh food not frozen watery seafood which most places seem to have these days. The hot meats and vegetables were all hot and cooked to perfection, not hard in the middle. The desserts were terrific also. BUT THE STAFF WERE EXTREMELY ATTENTATIVE AND CARING AND CLEARED THE TABLES QUICKLY. The last 3 years we have been to a TAVERN local to us and the food has gone down in quality every year, the only reason we didn't go this year is that they wouldn't accept a 93 year old ladies cheque. So I looked on line and found Newmarket Hotel and we will be going there more as it isn't that far to travel from THE GAP. Thankyou for making our XMAS a special one, it has been a big year and that just made it all worth it. My husband had a fall with a brain injury the week before and was not able to make it, so we are getting a refund also which I didn't really expect. FANTASTIC !!!!!! This hotel has vastly improved in both food and service since I had last been.. back then it was warm bread and frozen garlic butter on the side as garlic bread! . Quite happy with the meals we ordered and all was done contactless via a QR code.

What a great place! A beautiful heritage listed bar mixed in with a large contemporary style restaurant. The food is always delicious, you can't go past a good steak or the classic chicken parmy. Hmmm . Great venue but the staff were hit and miss in terms of service. I went on the Wednesday night and the guy in the bar near the gaming room was great. However, the taller of the two girls in the front room was really unfriendly. I'm not sure if she hates her job or brought her issues to work with her. She basically made you feel like you 'owed' her for pouring your drink. Not sure I will go back, well definitely not on a Wednesday ☺️

This is hands down the friendliest pub I have ever visited. The staff are brilliant. We were staying over the road at the nearby caravan park. I dropped by for a beer and a play on the pokes. A great Hotel experience! Stand up Comedy every Monday night! A fine music venue! Pokies! Great meals or finger food to enjoy while the Comedians perform! Wine, beer or Cocktails are available! Australian & New Zealand local band Across the Ditch are playing in May! They have a wide range of Australian & New Zealand cover songs! Plus they quite often feature other well known Brisbane artists!

Outstanding staff levels, restaurant, and both assistant managers last Saturday night Sep 5 2020 were a credit to the Hotel group. They all choked in and served at main sports bar and all staff were outstanding. Cara was patient and firm with Covid rules. These guys have improved out of sight in past 3 years since I was here last. The best service level pub I have been to in Brisbane over past four years. Maybe just check your toilets more, they were not great at all.

I come here about once a month for lunch with my kids or others. I really like the variety of good and it is always delicious and reasonably priced. The wine list is quite good (which is a bonus for me!). The atmosphere is pleasant, quite a step away from the 'pub and gaming' that it could be. Staff and service are great too.

$8 ribs were a good size starter. Very soft meat. Steak was a little over cooked but still reasonable juicy. Chicken wings were very small and not very flavourful. Staff were really friendly and attentive and the restaurant itself was pleasant enough considering the busy surroundings. A little pricey for what you get but will still return.

Went for lunch with my sisters and daughter in law last Sunday - did not book early enough so we had to sit outside but it turned out to be a fantastic position as a light wind was blowing and the cool air con wafted out onto the deck area. Whilst the place was packed, the service from the moment we arrived until we left was amazing. The waiter ensured we all had our drinks (and water) promptly and was around to "top up" when needed. The meals were delicious and generous in size. Two of us had the eye fillet, two ordered the battered barramundi and one had the rib fillet. All meals were cooked to perfection and eaten with great gusto. Well done management and staff at the Newmarket Hotel - will certainly be coming back!

We had the most delightful service here! My mum's very picky, and the lady that served us went to the effort of bringing out a sample of their sauce just to see if she was ok to have it on her meal! Both of the burgers we ordered were delicious, and at lunch they were pretty cheap to boot. Definitely would recommend, and return!

The food has always been ok, vegan options are great to see but lacks imagination and taste with a price tag that doesn't match what you receive. Come here on a regular basis for Monday Stand Up Comedy. Love the idea of having something to watch while we eat our food and catch up with friends over drinks and a little bit of comedy! The pub itself is not bad, the food is pretty good (steaks are usually delish), drinks are average and staff (depending on who you get) are ok. The staff could use a little training for tending the bar effectively but overall this place is pretty good! Will be back (for comedy and steak nights).

Went there today for lunch. A group booking for six. The blackboard menu had a share plate so we requested this but for three. The waitress said she could sort it. When the plate arrived it was for two. Asked why and she stated that she had said it would not be possible. This certainly was not true. Requested the chef just send a plate with one more portion of each item. Advised this was not possible! Even offered to go into the kitchen to demonstrate the ease of adding an extra portion. The waitress then sent the manager who was not at all helpful and all she could offer was a complimentary drink. How easy would it have been to just add one more portion and charge accordingly? Will not be returning any time soon! Following a very positive response from management, I can safely say the venue has more than compensated for this very negative experience.

The restaurant is quite nice and cosy. We had the bruschetta and calamari as starters and both were a very decent size and tasty. For mains we had the chicken parmigianas, they were delicious and really big meals. Exactly what you’d expect from a pub feed. The wait for food wasn’t too long but took a while for drinks and they forgot our order. Other than that, a nice casual place.

Between bar staff who made the wrong drinks on two separate occasions, and live music so loud that there was not a seat in the place where you could hold a conversation, this place doesn't make for a good catchup with friends. The music itself wasn't half bad, but without anywhere to go to escape it, it was a bit too much. We also sampled the bar food, which was satisfactory. Hard to complain about potato wedges with sweet chilli sauce. The venue is neat and tidy, and the staff are pleasant; you can buy and inhale drinks here; but I wouldn't say I had an amazing night.

I once had an old guy tell me I needed to play the pokies with him. I had just walked into the Newmarket Hotel and hadn’t really settled myself. I said no. I am not a gambler. He said yes and waved his fist in my face. Ok! I watched him lose money on the poker machines and then I went and had a beer. I think overall the place is much stronger when they avoid boutique beers and just focus on solid food and cheap drinks. And they do well at that. What can I say? I like the place. I find the entrances are both really oddly positioned, though. So strange

Service was okay. Food is over-priced. I paid $35 for the crispy salmon that has potato rosti, spinach and mango sauce. Mango sauce don't go well with it. Potato rosti tasted good but it wasn't hot. It was medium-cold temperature. The salmon was display upside down. Skin wasn't crispy, guess why they put it upside down. My partner had the gnocchi. Wasn't a lot of gnocci. His food wasn't hot. We waited for more than 30mins for our food and it wasn't hot and we were so hungry that we ate it and left. Food is hit and miss here.
