Molly is one of the must do bars in Canberra. It has a great vibe and great staff (though there was one salty dude who served us last time). I am a fan of whisky so every time I look at the bar I just want to work my way through everything from left to right! Great array of snack foods… love this place!

Great speakeasy that's really no secret to anyone in Canberra. They have an amazing selection of cocktails. The mocktails also taste like real alcoholic drinks!!! ( They only have 2, I like the ginger raspberry one.). Massive selection of expensive and aged whiskeys.... I'm not a whiskey person myself. If you do happen to be a whiskey lover, you must MUST sample some here. The vibe is super chilled, & often there's a live band playing. Bar staff are very friendly and nice. Food selection is limited, and although tasty, they are at most, bar snacks. They have tables but don't be fooled, it's not a dinner place.

Molly is absolutely amazing. The photos are the last Raines' club late Sunday lunch. I'd recommend everyone to attend this once. Molly has a wonderful atmosphere - it is branded for trying all things whiskey, rum, gin or anything else for any occasions. Thursday nights are live music nights which is on my next day to visit.

Hands down one of the best places to go to if you want to have a drink, if you're a lover of jazz music and if you enjoy good quality whisky being served by bartenders who know their stuff. I love this place and how hard it is to find. The ambience and environment is fantastic and I love how they hold tastings every month and there is a separate 'basement' area so it's not too crowded. Great music, brilliant range of whisky and a fantastic place to come to with friends, with your partner or even by yourself.

Absolute love it. The whole theme, concept, or really is like a step back to a simpler, classy time. It would be nice to have more sound dampening as it can be hard to talk, but otherwise perfect. We were heading to Canberra and some friends of ours recommended Molly Bar. I took a quick look on Instagram and immediately knew this was somewhere we just had to visit. We expected it to be hard to find, given it is a speakeasy. However it wasn’t too hard, since we saw a dashing barman in a vest exiting an old building in an alleyway off Odgers lane in Canberra’s ‘Civic’ area. Head up the inconspicuous stairwell and you’ll see the tiled/mosaic Molly doormat. Enter into the space and take a moment to take it all in. The bar is uber cool. A dimly lit space with a mix of booths, lounges and tables, with candles to provide light for you to peruse the menu. An 100 year old piano sits in the corner, ready for live music to entertain the crowds. Drink wise, you’ll be wowed by the expansive bar which is fully stocked with the most extensive whiskey list you’ll find, with over 300 on the list alone. Whilst it specialises in whisky, they’ve also got plenty of gins and other cocktails too. I wasn’t sure what to order and gave my taste preferences to the barman and he whipped me up a cocktail with Gin, Grenadine, Sweet Vermouth, Lemon And Egg white. It was light and sweet and delicious. It was tough to decide whether this was the favourite or “Alfie’s Bakery cocktail”. We’ve never had anything like it; infused with rum, demara sugar, burnt butter and raisin toast. This stiff drink brought out all those flavours in spades. We would certainly return for this alone. Although we didn’t eat, since our bar visit preceded a previously booked dinner, the cheese and charcuterie platters looked incredible and we’ll certainly be up for ordering one of these next time. A visit here will certainly take you back in time, for all the right reasons. It is contextually fitting to the prohibition era, it has a whole lot of class and character and great drinks to boot. Add the map coordinates to you phone and make your way to the bar. Half the fun is finding it and the rest is waiting for you behind the unmarked wooden door.

Always a good time to be had at Molly. Excellent drink selection, good space to relax in a booth or at a table and on the busy nights the downstairs section is a good overflow. Just make sure you get a couch to relax on. The live music line up mid week is spot on and the bar tenders are knowledgeable and ready to offer a suggestion. Take a moment and ask to see the walk in safe - many valuable whiskies are deposited here in the old commonwealth bank.

I love a hidden cocktail bar, and I really enjoyed Molly in Canberra. Tucked in an alley and hidden behind an unmarked wooden door, it’s a lovely jazz themed cocktail bar, with low lighting, creative drinks and fantastic music. They also serve food with whiskey pairings and have live bands several times a week. I was surprised you need to order at the bar, which doesn't match the grown-up, fairly high-end feel (and pricing!) of the place.

Sweet place! There's no signage to show that it exists. Pricey for some, but worth it to see the bartender produce a "fig the cops". Oh and the jazzy atmosphere makes it worth the visit.

Wow, that's all I can say! Well, after another drink at Molly I could elaborate a bit: mystical, nostalgic, beautiful, unique, secretive, qwerty, good old fashioned cocktail bar that seems to play only my favourite Spotify playlists. I could not love it more and will come back to Canberra just to visit it again. An extra special thank you to the staff that fits in so perfectly and adds extra character to a place thats already so full of character. Do not miss this place, even if finding it might not be easy. It's well worth the search.

Upstairs is very nice and pretty unique for Canberra, the vault looks like a bit of a low-effort addition. The staff were nice but sitting at the bar with people leaning over you to order is a bit too much like a pub. They need a dedicated service section at the bar or make it table service only. Firstly, the underground location and vibe is a sight to behold. This is the greatest jazz venue in all of Canberra, hands down. As you walk in, down the steps you may start thinking you're literally taking the last steps of your life. I felt like I was walking into the opening scene of SAW. Great little cocktail bar hidden away in the Melbourne building. It feels like a real speakeasy with its fairly hidden entrance and classy interior. They have a great selection of spirits and the bar staff seem to know their stuff when it comes to cocktails. Definitely one of the nicest late night drinking establishments in Canberra!

Very nice speak easy style bar, atmosphere is great with live music, the cocktails on the menu all seem sophisticated. Service was nothing to write home about though. What you see after you enter a lonely alley and walk up a flight of stairs at the back of a building and open an unmarked door is so not what you expect to see if you've never heard of this place before. It was recommended by a colleague. So we went. When you enter the place and hang your coat on the hooks you get transported to the speakeasy scene from the 30's or 40s. This is Molly's and it has hip moody bar with candlelit tables and booths on one side. There is a live band playing jazz from the corner near the door. And people swing dancing to the tunes. Whiskey is the alcohol of choice here and the selection doesn't let you down. Recommended for a great night out with your friends!

Wow! My first stop in Canberra was this place and what an experience it is. The music and environment perfectly put me into the 1920s-1930s era. I love jazz! Have a look at the menu because you will want to order half of the cocktails. Having to choose a favourite is hard but I recommend the ramos gin fizz and the Irish coffee. The bar staff know their stuff and are amazing at what they do. Finding this place is half the fun btw 😉

Molly gets the speakeasy bar aesthetic right. It can be found at the bottom of an unmarked staircase, behind heavy doors. The cocktail menu is ever-changing and Molly's whiskey range is second-to-none. A great place to take friends for an after work cocktail, and live jazz on Tuesday nights. Molly's is one of my favourite bars in Canberra do that. They also offer an interesting sounding membership model that might make a good gift for the whiskey loving people in your life.

A true speak easy doesn't advertise, although a doorman and some rope does give itself away - that small slip is made up with a warm atmosphere and the best barkeeps you'll find outside of Melbourne and Sydney, and the only place I've found that can do a decent Gin Sour in a pinch. Dark and moody, furnished with fine wooden furniture, even with all the modern customers, it feels like you've stepped up into a New Oreleans Speak easy. Easily competing with the likes of 1806 and Palmer & Co. Even if it is a little less accesible. Take friends to impress them. 13$ cocktails for all.

Molly's is a speak-easy hidden in Canberra city. It has a great atmosphere with candlelit tables where you can nestle in for an evening drinking from a very large range of exceptional whisk(e)y's from all around the world. The bar is an experience in itself where you get to see tasty cocktails get made for you. Dont worry if don't like whisk(e)y as they have great congniac, tequila's or fine champagne's also from all around the world. Treat yourself. Highly recommended. Exceptional service.

I knew of Molly's through a friend who is far cooler than I am. My wife wanted to take me there, and I was looking forward to some nice drinks, in a well utilised space with a strong theme. The first impression is very cool. Wooden tones in a warmly lit lounge. The staff are decked in in periodesque attire and the array of boutique whiskeys is a credit to them and really charming. I ordered some drinks and a cheese platter. I watched the careful yet very slow preparation of the cocktails. In taking these back to the table, we were also looking at how slowly the staff did anything, favouring their conversations with friends at the bar. This was a slow mid-week evening, and it took well over 40 minutes for one of the staff to decide to plod over to the food area to prepare the food for us. We came second to washing some dishes, preening his beard, chatting with some more friends who came in, and making the orders of people who came in after us. The platter was a mix of very good meats, some nice cheeses, and some old stale pieces of cheese. I'll admit that the atmosphere was really interesting and fun, but I'm unlikely to rush back.

I've been to Molly's a few times now and this place has never been disappointing until my last visit. Moll'ys is a charming bar that's not very big but has a great vibe. the staff are always entertaining and the drinks are good. the food platters are amazing but unfortunately, our order was lost and we waited for over half an hour waiting for a platter, checked on our order and was told it was on the way, watched the staff make up a plate and take it over to a different table who had come in after us (3 times this happened) I ended up walking over and asking the guy making up the plates himself for our order and he had no idea. I'm guessing the order got lost and look, that happens but having a staff member say "it's being made now" and waiting another 20 mins and he hadn't even checked or told staff is just a little disappointing. otherwise the food was amazing :) (it wasn't overly busy either at the time) Still worth a look.
