this must be under new management or a new chef because we ate here about a year ago and it wasn't anything great just good but since then we've eaten here twice in the past month because they're so good. if we lived closer we would be here a lot more! we've ordered the big breakfast both times as well as the fried chicken burger and loaded fries on another occasion. the sausage in the big breakfast is so delicious and I don't even like sausages. the smoke beans are also do die for! everything from the bacon to the bread was just so morish. the bacon is think yet crispy enough. my husband loved his burger and loaded fries. over all the food was top notch and a good portion for the cost. the place always seems to be pumping no matter what time of the day. great location too across from the water. smokey j food is a must have!

Nice pub on the beachfront in Nightcliff. Beautiful setting but Food is okay but nothing great. Ordered a smashed burger which was definitely not a smashed patty. Still tasty but not what was I after. Decent serving size and heaps of chips. My friends got the steak and the pulled pork burger and were happy with there options.

Absolutely loved this pub. Lovely vibe with friendly clientele and team. Large deck overlooking park with water glimpses making it an easy place to linger over a meal. The food was delicious and of a high standard. We all tried mains from the smoke house menu though there were some standard pub dishes like schnitzel on offer too. We'll definitely be back. 👌

The location is great with both outdoor and indoor dining. Very iffy about this place, been there 3 times and the experience has been different each time. The only consistency was the sauce on the BBQ, I ordered the same thing on all occasion - the smokey bbq share platter I forgot the exact name of the dish. The 1st time, the meats were tender, juicy, the sauce was excellent, and the service- right on the money. Sorry, I forgot to leave a review🤷 but, so good that I brought more friends the next occasion. 2nd time, the fries were overdone, and the service was decent. The meats were partially dry in parts, but the chorizzo and the sauce were perfect! 3rd time, we went back mostly for the location, a place near the water and outdoor seating. Everything was overdone; the meats were so dry with barely enough sauce to cushion the blow of the extra chews and saliva required. It was so dry you could see it in the meat from just looking at it. Perhaps I should have dipped it in the wine🤔🤭 and might as well, since it was getting close to vinegar... So overall, it progressively went down hill for me and we decided there was no need to return but never say never, maybe 4th time is the charm 😁

A nice place for clubbing. I remember the place back in the 70s as a kid, my olds would go there for rage in the cage times. The food was lovely and staff were fantastic. A better place for young adults.

Great location - right on Nightcliff beachfront. Good atmosphere and some good food and drink deals throughout the week - steak night on a Monday and half price cocktails on Thursdays. They used to have a good pool comp on a Thursday night too but I don't think that happens anymore.

I have been dining here occasionally over the last few months the food has been excellent. The standard menu has a wide range of meals suitable for everyone. Additionally Smokey J's bbq menu available (Thursday-Sunday). Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Awesome stop for a meal or drink, great service from delightful server's, beautiful views, and fantastic location for a lunch or dinner. Ocean breeze feels exceptional. Parking is a little different because of location but worth the time. I will definitely come by again.

Breakfast review Seating: outdoor, great view and a sea breeze. Food: Ordered the big breakfast. The stand out are the meats. House smoked bacon is super tasty well cooked and perfect amount crispy goodness (not gummy or chewy at all). Smoked chorizo is also a stand out. Coffee was nice, had a long black no sugar and didn't taste any burnt flavours. The menu is a good spread but the house meats are what you go for. Well priced and offers a good portion (the price matches the plate). The food holds up extremely well to other over priced "fancy" places offering the same for an average plate. Looking forward to my next visit and try the breakfast for two. Great bang for buck and tastes that will exceed your expectations.

My friend and I went there and ordered ribs and fish. Dont order the ribs..ribs were too dry and burnt, feel like it's overcooked and reheat few times. I ordered Jewfish and it's good. The vegetables were good. The bar staffs were good but the restaurant's staff were not so good. We waited for the food and took a long time to come. The atmosphere was nice, it rained so it wasn't really hot at outdoors.

Best BBQ in Darwin. The half chook is my favourite thing on the menu. The brisket is also amazing. Closest you will get to Texas BBQ in Darwin in my opinion. They also do some of the best breakfast tacos too, the best part is they make their tortillas homemade. Being from Texas, that’s a requirement for any half-decent Mexican restaurant. Even some “fast-food” Mexican restaurants make their own tortillas. But somehow it’s in the too hard bucket for all other Mexican restaurants in town.

How can you argue with a venue across the road from the water serving up cold beer and a tasty bite to eat with a relaxed, friendly vibe? You can't! I don't often see sour beer on tap which they have here and the Smokey Js loaded fries are legendary (they are loaded, and they don't skimp on jalapeños!). The kids meals are really good value too. My daughter had a decent-sized grilled fish kids meal recently and I taxed her a taste - it was obviously fresh, well prepared and cooked... and was just 100% melt-in-the-mouth. One of the best grilled white fish I've probably had... and it was a kids meal! It was definitely well received by my 4ft foodie (she left nothing behind). This alone is worth mentioning, as usually when you are out with kids you're limited to fried nuggets and chips, so I definitely appreciate the slightly healthier (delicious) grilled option!

First time I've been back for around 8 years. I'm sad to see that the big tree at the back was cut down... But, I did really enjoy having a beer and brisket burger! Was literally my first beer and pub meal after 7 consecutive months of being in the bush and turning into a Wookie-Human hybrid after not shaving for what felt like centuries. The new staff were friendly and nice and I am very happy to see that they got rid of the fat douchecanoe rapey vibe bouncers from when I was last there years ago. The new bouncers seemed ok and pretty down to earth. Will definitely stop by for more beer and brisket burger when I'm back for the holidays or hopefully for more field research on our amazing wildlife.

Has been my local for a few years now. Bottle shop guys are always friendly and happy - great prices too. It used to be a laid back, casual sort of pub but they've recently renovated and it now feels more upmarket. Meals are always great with fast service and the bar staff are nice and try to serve you as fast as they can. Pool tables, sports room with a giant TV, game nights and live music... I always take my southern visitors here!

Went here as I was meeting people; so not my choice. Pros: Great views of the beach; Good food, nicely presented and tasty with good sized servings. Cons: The staff are a little gruff; coffee sizes are a rip off. If you are new here, then you won't know what sizes are which but a 12oz is not a large. Update: Just updated with measurements. It turns out that their large is an 8oz (a small in every other cafe).

Had a great time at the Beachfront Hotel last night. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and just wanted to go somewhere for an easy meal etc. Well the Beachfront met all our expectations. This is a great spot. I was wandering past and decided to call in for a palate refreshing ale. It has a nice open feel to it and is clean. The three staff members who served me were prompt and also very friendly. Obviously that shows that I stayed for more than just the one Palate refreshing ale.

Beachfront hotel is the signature venue of the suburbs. Prime location with a fantastic view of the sunset. With the recently completed renovations (which were long overdue) the venue has become the go to for a higher class demographic whilst still catering for the everyday joe. Named the best sporting venue in Australia and picking up awards for their new cocktail menu, the facelift has breathed fresh life into the Hotel. Staff in my experience are always well trained and provide exceptional service. Security are polite and efficient, and management are friendly and approachable.

If you like hot food great but ive been here 2 nights in a row and the lamb shanks were so hot my mouth was numb for hours so tryed salad and vege chips and same thing. Chef obviously only knows hot good. Nothing mentoned on menu about being hot. Gave 3 stars cause drinks are good and rest of pub has great vibes... just dont buy food unless you are into hot food. $29 for a prawn salad. 3 overcooked prawns that tasted like cardboard only ate 1. Wont be back for food. My advice eat before or after going here.

Casual, friendly pub with a large verandah overlooking parkland, beach and sea. Good pub style food with a reasonable selection of beers, wines and spirits. Diverse clients from footy fans to a local choir that enjoys drinks, snacks and a chat after rehearsals.Watch the neighbourhood taking walks or bike rides along the foreshore while the sea presents in its many and varied moods. This place is a local icon with a few tales to tell.

Looks a lot better than it did when I first arrived in Darwin in 2016... all new interior, over-priced beers and pretty much no view of any beach, which is hilarious. Neighbourhood folk seem to love it, though and apparently they’ve got some new fandangled Texas Smoker thing out the back, which also makes an appearance at Mindil Markets on Thursday nights.

The BBQ is like seriously awesome. The green sauce (chimmichuri) fits perfectly with all the meats. I’m from Texas USA and i have eaten a lot of bbq but this rivals the south in delicious perfectly cooked meat. It’s tender and delicious. Eat off the Smokey J menu and you won’t be disappointed. I would post a pic but honestly there is nothing left. Legit southern BBQ in the Outback of Oz. Yessss!

Beachfront Hotel is a pub that had an unpleasant reputation in the past for being a cocktail of bogans and alcohol-fueled violence, and I tended to avoid where I could. That doesn't appear to the be the case anymore, they have made a significant effort in cleaning up, and targetting a more relaxed and classy segment of Darwin's population. Food has improved, and the introduction of American style smoked meats is now (in my opinion) their star attraction. Beer selection is average, though with about 10 draught options. Decent selection of liquors. They used to have a great (and cheap) cocktail selection for happy hour, but no more. Beachfront has recently started a whisky club, which looks promising. All in all, a vastly improved pub that I no longer feel reluctant to take out-of-towners to for a drink or two, or even dinner.

A Darwin establishment that maintains some charm despite being rough around the edges. Generally something here to please everyone, from the recently refurbished sports bar at the back to solid food offerings (Monday night $20 steak and beer night is a bargain) to sinking some balls playing pool or just perching on a stool out front and taking in the views at Nightcliff foreshore. Without a doubt this is the best place in Darwin's northern suburbs to go out for a drink.

The Beachfront hotel has always been a grate place to to socialize I remember when it was known as the rage in the cage it was a pretty tuff pub back then the world barefoot mud crab tieing compertison was held there every year it's look has changed a lot since then and the place has a more family friendly the restaurant and the pubs look has changed a lot in stial the lay out has changed and it seems more roomy and there's a vue that looks out over the sea I believe that you can relax and enjoy your time at the Beachfront hotel give it a try and let us know what you think cheers Billy.

Currently home of the best value T-bone in town every Monday night - $15 with chips, salad and a standard drink. Make sure you book a table as the Monday deal has caught on with locals and is very popular. There are other daily specials but the T-bone is the best value. Great for a pub meal, game of pool, dance, or selected live sports events like State of Origin (they usually get a massive screen and set it up across the road) or UFC matches. Aircons don't seem to be maintained well as they are visibly leaking and tend to struggle on hot days or when the venue is crowded. Gets a bit seedy later in the night as the bogans get drunker. Reasonably prices standard drinks and basic cocktails. A popular bar, especially for those living in the suburbs who don't want to travel all the way to the CBD.
