Casual and grungy pub, laid back friendly staff. Incredible range of drinks. Excellent food with very good vegetarian and vegan choices. Great beer garden, heaps of live music. Never disappointed with this place.

We loved it here. It's a classic grubby pub and that's what we expected. Staff was friendly and dedicated. We enjoyed the vegan burger and loaded nachos, it was actually so good! Awesome prices as well. Will be back on our next visit to Hobart!

5 star dive bar, great local bands.

The best and most unique bar still open in Australia. If you like incredible local and interstate punk, metal, rock and roll and tom-foolery, with a twist of real local characters come here. It is where real musicians get their start and super friendly locals. Oh yeah cheap beers and food. A local establishment you have to get drunk at, at least once.

Dirty but friendly bar with a mostly alternative sort of crowd. Great venue for live music on a Friday and Saturday. Surprisingly good bar food here, with a range of veggo and vegan options. Prepare yourself for the toilets though. They're an experience.

Been there first tine tonight, and you know what? I really like this place! It is clearly inclusive and celebrates a diverse crowd, and the people are really lovely, and took me in my frazzled state (I jogged 2Km to get there and was sweating profusely) with all the welcoming kindness I could wish for. They have beer and spirits, they have food, they have a couple of areas with 2 stages, with bands and comedy, and people enjoying hanging out in a progressive and open-minded atmosphere. WeIl done owners, and thank you.

Went there for a fund raiser in behalf of the people affected by the bush fires. They were very organize with all the bands, sound was good and the crowd was friendly. Not bad food, and the beer garden is quiet nice. There is no parking though, you have to park on the street

The best pub for metal heads. I always feel welcome. Menu is awesome and Vegan menu is off the chain good. CULT comedy last Thursday of the month is always fun. There is always something good on!

An oddball pub but I loved it. Good food with lots of vegan options. Pricing is good and it has a really great vibe: low lighted, jukeboxes, pinball, a stage. An interesting stopover for a visitor.

One of the best and only places in Hobart for live original local music: underground punk, metal, alternative and various other styles of unpopular music. It's gritty, grimey and all sorts of other things that make regular people terrified to go near it. As such, it's probably the safest place in Hobart for a drink on a Friday or Saturday night. The decent sized beer garden in the back is a nice touch too.

Don't let the looks of the place throw you off. The food is absolutely worth it. A Big plus for us was their large selection of vegan options and the main reason we came here. We were not disappointed. Staff are very friendly, in short - we had a lovely time

Might not look like much, but don't judge a bar by its bathroom grafitti. This is one of the last great band venues in the state, helping keep live music alive. Also has bingo nights, karaoke and live comedy. With a decent range of drinks and some of the best food you can find in Hobart, look past the sticky floors and give this place a shot.

The Brisbane is simply the place to be if you love original, live music in Hobart. Don't let looks deceive you, but the Bris is the safest, most accepting place with top notch staff and service. In short, its home away from home.

The floor is STICKY. I don't mean "sort of sticky". I mean its like my shoe stayed there and my foot moved on without it, and then my foot touched the floor and my sock stuck to it. Its like someone's spilled cases of cider or raspberry jam all over the floor. Every day. I walked outside onto Brisbane St, and my shoes were still sticking to the pavement. The food.... I would not eat food from there. You'll die. Don't drink anything out of a glass. Because they're murky looking and sticky too. Get a drink that comes in a sealed bottle. The atmosphere is unmatched. Don't let the looks put you off. Its a fantastic grungey pub thing. Just don't fall on the floor or touch the walls, or you'll have to wriggle out of your clothes to get away. Its basically a pub with the insides coated in flypaper and fromit (frothy vomit). But its still a great venue for live acts.
