What an amazing experience! The location/venue is on point! The staff where extremely friendly, accommodating and very good at their jobs! The food was next level! Can recommend the (Reef & Beef and also the Maple Syrup Pork Cutlets)! The food & drinks menu what a great size and the restroom/ other facilities where great! I recommend Rockwall for sure!

We enjoyed our food at Rockwall Bar and Grill to the fullest. We went for dinner and it was a busy evening. The Resturant was pretty much full, but the service was quick. We enjoyed our drinks and entrees. Mains was mouthwatering, full of freshness and flavours. Staff were very professional and friendly. I am very fussy with my steak, it is very rare that I will order it at a restaurant because most don't get it right. Well tonight the chef's at Rockwall cooked the perfect steak, it was amazing. I would have taken a photo of it but I was to busy enjoying my meal. On another note, the seafood chowder was excellent but I expected that from the reviews. Our waitress couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy. I can not fault this place in any way. Well done guys, keep up the fantastic work

Unable to get into a restaurant that had been recommended by my hostel, I stumbled across Rockwell by chance, but feel that I couldn't have had a better experience if I'd planned it! The seafood chowder and kilpatrick oysters were to die for and the amaretto sour cocktail made to perfection. Although fully booked, the staff found a way to accommodate me, all of whom were welcoming and had great banter. An experience I will remember, many thanks to all!

Excellent meals. We ordered three eye fillets and the salmon with a bottle of Pinot Noir. The eye fillets were superb, though the vegetables were underwhelming. The sticky date and chocolate pudding were also delicious. The bill came to $250 between four.

Good service and a good range of food. Had the pork belly as an entree (not as crispy as I expected) as well as a Scotch Fillet (220g). The Scotch Fillet, I was expecting vegetables but was let down as we were given only 1 or 2 pieces, however the meat was well cooked.

Awesome. No seriously, this place is lovely. We shared some calamari, rock lobster pâté and oyster for starters. This was followed by the two specials they had on for mains, 500g eye beef and trevalla. Both were exquisite. We washed this down with some bubbles, peppermint tea and Tassie ginger beer. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive to all our needs (our two year old and pausing the mains whilst we pushed her around to get her to sleep) and the setting and ambiance were perfect. The bill wasn't out of this world considering the levels of service and quality of food. For four drinks, three starters and two mains the bill came in at around $160 (excl service). Well worth a visit.

Steak was tender and juicy but I can't see myself returning. It was extremely expensive for what you get when you compare it with many nearby restaurants. My 1st time there and my last.

We ordered their specialty of the day - the lamb rack and a steak, scott fillet coffee rub flavor. You will not be disappointed with the lamb rack. Tender, moist, and pack with flavours. The mash that came with it was soft but not watery and complemented the lamb well with a tinge of honey. We added a rocket salad to go with it. The chefs did not overdo the balsamic vinegar because there was a balance of sweetness and sourness. Would highly recommend this place for grill.

We had an excellent night out at Rockwall. I was a little worried about being put in the upstairs dining area but I shouldn't have been. The space is friendly and maybe a little quirky. I loved the attentive but not overbearing service. The meals were excellent and arrived with timing allowing for chatting. I have only given 4 stars because my wife rated the natural oysters as only ok. It must be said though that she is a harsh judge. Otherwise everyone was happy with the experience. I would recommend Rockwall to my friends without hesitation

My wife and I called into this venue as we strolled around Salamanca Place and were pleasantly surprised with the menu outside, to the point where we decided to lunch there. We were surprised at how large the space was and taken by the very appealing ambience as well as the warm welcome from the host, who guided us to a table right at the rear looking at the rock wall and the glorious Japanese Maple. Suffice to say, we had an awesome lunch sharing a seafood platter and some good wines plus attentive service and a very enjoyable afternoon with some very appealing music in the background. So much so that we will be back to this venue again on our next visit and this time for dinner. We highly recommend this very elegant venue

Excellent steak restaurant, with a range of other dishes on the menu. A fairly formal eating place but casually dressed tourists as well as smarter couples were eating there. Service was extremely good, my food was tasty and well cooked. Prices were standard for the food quality - I had Tempura Prams, then Fillet Steak, with a Light Ale which cost $71.

Enjoyed all our mains and dessert. Tbone and scotch was around $40 each with limited sides so I was glad we ordered some additional sides. We couldn't really taste the "coffee rub" on the meat but appreciated that the meat was perfectly cooked and mushroom sauce was tasty. Staff greeting us at the door (we assume to be the owners) were friendly and welcoming but we did find our young waitress difficult to understand and not too attentive. The other staff however were all great and quick to return with our extra drink orders.

From start to finish I would rate this place among the top restaurants in the country. Entrees were 10/10 and the mains just topped the rating. Quail and pork belly were outstanding for starters, then the duck and Scotch fillet filled us up with smiles on our faces. The staff were friendly, professional and very efficient. Great drinks menu and facilities. Only thing I would have asked for was slightly more gravy with my steak but that's a very minor issue, I'm just being greedy now. Spent my birthday here, we were sat upstairs, in their very nice and relaxing dining area, the prices weren't that cheap, but well worth spending that little bit extra, steak was cooked exactly how I wanted it, and the customer service was flawless. It was okay. The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff friendly, but our waitress failed to inform us of the specials. I ordered the twice-cooked duck, which had a lovely flavour but was a touch dry. My wife ordered a porterhouse, which again had a nice flavour, but we had ordered medium and it came out decidedly rare. I have no doubt the staff would have re-cooked it for us, but my wife does not like confrontation and so did not want to raise it. When I raised it with the staff at the end, they were very apologetic and professional. All in all, a good atmosphere with friendly staff, but the food let them down.

We had the upstairs dining room was decent enough, but on first entering there is a caged storage area that is most unattractive and somewhat surprising to see. The food was variable and, like several other establishments, very little vegetables were included. As vegetables are good for you and cheap compared to meat, it is a puzzle why so little is included. The duck was dry and not particularly nice, however the grilled fish of the day was nice although plain. Initial service was good but the process for getting the bill delivered quite drawn out and inefficient.

Honestly, it's not worth a second visit. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything more than okay, good quality fish overcooked, great quality steak (scotch fillet) under seasoned and undercooked (Bleu instead of rare) and overcooked chicken with bland sides. Desserts were all pretty good and saved the evening, cheese plate was tasty but described by two waitresses as soft, hard and blue. Essentially I'd say the the quality of ingredients was above average but the care given to the food from the kitchen to the front of house was sub par. That said everybody that served us was friendly, but they were just going through the motions as far as the food was concerned. Would I go back again, maybe, but only if I heard that the staff & owners were enthused again about making & serving good food with a little love & attention.

Perhaps the best steaks we ever had!!! We had a wagyu and the massive 500g fillet, and it was massive. Surprisingly, we finished both. Grilled to perfection! Ask the super friendly staff what's the best to suit your taste. They are super competent and really happy to help. Please ignore the (single) one-star rating of the people who didn't actually eat at Rockwall. If you love amazing steaks, you won't be disappointed!

We were in a party of 9. The restaurant has a nice feel about it. Buisy although not flat out, the waiter was pretty good taking our order for drinks then our food. As you would expect we waited a while for our orders to come to the table. So we all thought it was a great chance to have a couple more drinks and settle in for the night so we could catch up ... it is not a pub and we know that but it was a big effort for a couple of the female staff to get drinks for us.. towards the end of our meals the two female staff gave us the impression the both did not want to be there. No smiles no thanks no nothing. We were planing to have desert as well but the 2 kill joys helped us make the dissision to go somewhere else. So the food was great, we all had something different and we enjoyed what we had. At least the chef cooked the stakes as ordered. Over all not a bad night, howerer could have been better.. cheers we will go back but not for a while

Friendly staff, great knowledge on local produce. Ordered the coffee crumb on the waitresses recommendation, definitely enhanced the flavour of the steak and not trace of actual coffee - delish! My only faults would be the pork belly entree could have been crispier (more on the chewy side) and more Veges with Mains to balance the dish. Only given one piece of broccoli, 2 small carrot sticks and 2 very small pieces of potato.

Very nice. Staff were very attentive and lovely. As it’s fine dining the food ‘object’ fish/beef etc is the main on the plate, half a carrot julienned & 3 snap peas accompanied the dishes. If you’re looking for a steakhouse in Hobart it is hard to go past the Rockwall. The atmosphere is close and warm and holds the smell of grill without being at all smoky. The service has been consistently attentive, friendly, prompt and accurate on multiple occasions. There are no bad steaks on this menu depending on your tastes and there is still plenty for people who don’t eat red meat. As everyone else says, try the coffee rub.

I was in Tassi just 4 nights ago eating at Rockwall Bar and Grill and the dinner I had, to celebrate my birthday, was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It is beautifully laid out inside with little glassed outdoor areas and 3 dining sections. It was hard to choose from all the delicious food on the menu, and even though we were satisfied after the main meal the desserts were to die for and we had to stay for more. The garlic bread was cooked to order, as was my chocolate lava pudding dessert and everything about this restaurant was great. I really liked the service, we were looked after well, and we ate well, none of this small plates for a big cost. The serves were worth the price. If you are staying in Hobart this is one restaurant in Salamanca you will definitely want to check out!

The Rockwell does not disappoint! This was the first restaurant we visited in Hobart and it was truly a lovely meal. Have been there before and has been great. This time I had the duck and it was inedible. The staff were very apologetic and offered free dessert. They were happy to take the duck off the bill. The entrees were very nice as per usual. I will go back again.

Okay. 4 words. Cape Grim Rib Eye. Just a fantastic and huge cut of meat. On the specials menu. Very tender and tasty. Could have been slightly redder for medium-rare but that's me being pernickety. Staff were great. We booked at 5pm and asked for a high chair. When we came back at 6pm we found out they had got one from down the road. Haven't had a fancy dinner-date like that since having a kid and great to have such attention from staff. We felt bad that our kid was too squirmy for the high chair they had specially arranged but the staff made us feel completely at ease dining with a wriggler. Recommend the early dinner option with a child in tow.

This was the first restaurant that we ate out in Hobart during our trip back in March. It was a short walk from our accommodation. This is an amazing restaurant that serves delicious food. The wine list is excellent and the staff were very accommodating, helpful & polite. The highlight of the night was the Affogato dessert. It had Ferroro Rocher ice cream accompanied with an expresso shot & a whiskey liqueur shot. It was the best dessert that I've ever had in a restaurant. We were visiting from New Zealand so we will return when we are next in Hobart.

Went here by chance as I thought it would be the only place serving good at 9pm and life smiled on us. Exceptional service with a great red wine recommendation. Simple meals but everything done to an exceptionally good standard. Probably the best potato rosti and coleslaw I've had and the chicken was excellent too. We dined in tonight and the experience was fantastic. Service was great, our waitress was very attentive and friendly and ensured our drinks were regularly filled. Our food was beautiful. We ordered garlic parsley butter bread rolls, seafood chowder, the share platter which consisted of salt and pepper calamari, pork belly and tempura prawns, medium rare scotch fillet with mushroom sauce. The steak was well cooked rather than medium, but was still lovely. The platter salt and pepper calamari had a distinct taste to the crumb but can’t put my finger on what it was? Whilst the Salt and Pepper calamari is not for me, overall the food and service was fantastic and highly recommend.
