Comments of BENCH COFFEE CO. Lt Collins

It only does a few things, but it does them right. Coffee, tea and some pastries, that's all.
The cafe is relatively small, but it's bustling, and the staff members are friendly and helpful. They will even tell you about their personal favourite flavours if you asked them about it, and what sells the most.
The coffee is decent, and iced coffee comes in a nice boba-esque cup. Probably not great for the environment, but sure is nice on the eyes.
The dacquoise is definitely a must get. It's buttercream in between 2 pieces of almond & hazelnut meringues. Need I say more? Nay.
TL;DR get coffee & dacquoise

Beautiful place, beautiful all black Spirit and Japanese wooden filter holders for pour over. Nice service, good coffee and a variety of dacquoises with flavors ranging from vanilla and salted caramel to black sesame, through chocolate and matcha.
They sell their beans too. Two filter roasts, a house blend for milk, and a single origin for espresso. Bags do not have a roast date. They roast every Wednesday (so should have new beans by Thursday) and look like they only keep the latest roast on the shelves.

Let me start with the vibe of the place it was amazing very minimal and aesthetic
And the coffee felt so fresh and I went 10 mins before they Closed they had healthy sugar and too if you need it
Definitely gonna go there more often

Nice ambiance. Not much seats available, but we were lucky that the store was not busy and we were able to sit on the bench (hence it’s name I guess 😁).
They brought out sparkling water for us when they saw us sitting down. That’s is just so sweet of them!
Friend brought me to try their coffee, and for a first-time coffee drinker, it’s tasted quite good. They also sell this macarons lookalike desserts, called Dacquoise. Different flavours to choose from and I got the black sesame. It’s ok, not too sweet, but I guess I don’t quite get the texture of the dessert.

Coffee was amazing and was so impressed with the dacquoise - the texture was so beautifully smooth and the flavour was so perfect with the green tea - haven’t really tasted anything like it before.

Very nice breakfast with great staff... was a bit busy... missed a few items on the order that had to be corrected..otherwise good. Lovely spot for breakfast.

Popped into this super aesthetic cafe twice as I was in Melbourne for the F1. Super friendly staff and coffee was also great. Highly recommend trying their dacquoise’s too! (Matcha was my favourite)

New Uber cool / sleek minimalist cafe with excellent coffee. Super friendly & efficient service. Coffee was really excellent, but our only issue was that it was slightly cold (not usual temp). They very kindly made me a fresh flat white.
Limited seating inside only - bench along the side with small 3 tables.
Great addition to the cbd coffee scene.

This was the starting piping of our Melbourne CBD coffee tour. For those who follow me know, that I will always aim for a washed filter coffee from Kenya 🇰🇪 to kickstart my day. I lived and worked in Kenya for one year and tasted up to 800 cups per day for QC.
Bench is a very beautifully designed coffee shop in the CBD. The barista was super consistent with his milk texturing and milk pouring 🥛. It was nice to watch him working through the orders quickly.
Our filter coffee ☕️ came from Kirinyaga, Muthingi-ini, I love the Kenyan names of washing stations. The coffee had a bright acidity, with notes of orange 🍊, red, and blueberries 🫐. It came with a very long-lasting and lingering finish. That was an excellent start into the day.
Thank you also for the great hospitality. The team was very welcoming, super friendly and we could see the smiles through their masks 😷. THANK YOU 🙏🏻.

A smart, modern, sleek interior, bit classy in their service, a nice touch!
They seem to be a stickler for cleanliness, which is good in today's world!
Staff were attentive the morning we were there.
I had a small size almond milk latte, which had a double shot.
It had a nice mild balanced for flavour, but it lacked the kick I like for an early morning coffee (8:20 am). Good midday/afternoon coffee.

glad i gave this place a go despite reading some some less flattering reviews. the ice soy latte was hit the mark, plummy cherry coffee tasting notes of the espresso still clearly distinguishable from the soy milk and ice. only down side is that it’s price (appears coffee this good is above $5 these days!- maybe it’s just the ‘new’ norm.

The best Dacquoise in mel
Macha is my favorite 😍
It’s bit expensive ($7.9 each) but it’s worth.
Flat white is little milky for me.
It’s good tho!

One of my favorite coffee here. I love the dacquoise and expresso tonic. It’s modern and fancy shines the lane.

A modern, minimalistic and sleek cafe located in the CBD. They offer a compact menu focussed mainly on their coffee and dacquoise. The coffee was not bad and the matcha dacquoise I had was soft, chewy and well balanced. The service was average and staff could’ve been a little more attentive. But will be back to try the other flavours of dacquoise.

📍: Little Collins St, CBD
📝: A bit slow with the trend since I’ve only recently visited Bench Coffee for the first time. Love the minimalistic interior and branding that makes it so characteristic.
❤️: Ever had a dacquoise before? This is the perfect pastry for you if you’re not too fond of sugary sweets. I love the mild and mellow flavor of dacquoise. Bench offers a wide range for you, with my favorite being the Raspberry with a little tingue of tanginess.

One of my new favourites in Melbourne. They make coffee to the perfection and unlike other cafes we found coffee here non-acidic.
Service was to the point too and the staff were quite friendly.
T. G.
Bench Coffee is amazing! The coffee is beautiful and perfect every time! There is so much to love about Bench, from the amazing staff and service, beautifully designed space, delicious coffee and amazing dacquoise!
B. M.
Finally a coffee shop that focuses on customer service. Great atmosphere and nice looking shop. Greeted with some sparkling water, coffee was made promptly. Will return when in the CBD next.

Boutique coffee on Little Collins St.
Gourmet sweet treats also available.
The coffee menu was a little restricted. Coffee was tasty with a strong liquorish flavour.
Pricing is at the market price for good Melbourne coffee with friendly service.
Free glass of sparking water to cleanse the tastebuds before your coffee.

Lovely space. Great coffee. Very friendly staff. Coffee beans available to purchase and take home. Make sure you try their house baked Dacquoise.

A new small coffee spot in CBD! Ordered latte, their blend is quite well balanced, more on the chocolate-nutty side (imo). They provide milk alternatives as well.
Very modern-ish monochrome style interior and staff were very welcoming. Addition of sparkling water was great to cleanse your palate beforehand.
Overall, not bad at all.

Glam-looking café serving strong, complex coffee and Dacquoise.
I do not know what a dacquoise is but at first glance, it looks like a giant sized macaron. The biscuit base has a crispy skin (but not glossy like a macaron) and is very light, airy and slightly sticky. I later found out from google that it is mostly make up of whipped egg white (baked meringue, similar to macaron) but more rustic.
I think what makes this dacquoise for me is the generous ratio of biscuit to buttercream - the textural difference as you bite through the soft sticky shell into the cool, luscious cream is simply gorgeous.

Great spot,, service is spot on, a great place to enjoy a well extracted brew or shot in an upmarket coffee bar environment, would recomend dining in if you can as the dine in experience is quite enjoyable
K. L.
This shoutout is especially to Ben, Benji and Masa who are always friendly and welcoming. Great coffee/food, nice ambiance and vibe as well.

A beef warm and welcoming cafe. Upon receiving my coffee and leaving, all three staff said thank you! Amazing!
The dacquois are out of this world too.
