Cherry Bar has moved from AC/DC lane to a new location, which isn’t fantastic. The acoustics in the band room are quite harsh. But friendly staff and as always, a rowdy and fun night.

This particular Saturday was a strange experience. We were greeted to a warm and lovely face and got stamped and made our way upstairs to the sound of what we thought was a live band. Once up there, we realised that there was no live band, the stage was being used as a dance floor, and the DJ was playing a very random mix of songs that didn't cohesively match well. One song was Nirvana, then old school synth pop! Very confusing to dance to. The wait staff were very polite, but we didn't stick around for long im afraid.

Took my husband (who had yet to experience Cherry in it’s newest incarnation) for a “quick” post shopping birthday drink yesterday. We had the gorgeous lil cocktail lounge pretty much to ourselves for the first hour with the magnificent Annabel creating some absolutely dazzling cocktails for us served up with some cracking chat. That one drink turned into four (or was it five?🤔). Can’t remember. Anyway, I think I might love this leopard clad version of Cherry even more than it’s previous AC/DC Lane form. And I liked that a whole lotta lot.

New location, same great atmosphere as the legendary old haunt in AC/DC lane. It might be new but thanks to the decor it already feels like it's been there for ages. Now has a separate band room upstairs with a fantastic sounding D&B Audio PA system. The stage is quite small but just adds to the intimacy of the gig. Good range of drinks with decent prices, friendly & helpful bar staff and bouncers too. Go check it out!

Always a great time here. The band's always have a classic rock sound with a new age kick. The venue is well shaped so there are layers which means most people can see really well. The staff are really quick at serving. They lady at the door is super lovely! She's always ready to help out as best she can and listen to your stories. Even the security guards were lovely. They had one of my favourite basic wines as their house wine which I was very happy about. Only thing is I wish they could take EFTPOS at the door. If you can take it at the bar why not at the door. I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard. Also it wouldn't hurt the bar staff to smile a little more. Keep up the good work.

Good selection of drinks and good tunes. I went here out of the blue on a Wednesday night and absolutely loved it. There was a band playing a mix of reggae beats - very danceable and lots of fun. Would highly recommend a visit!

This place once was the bees knees, until closing then reopening - somewhat lacking the spark it had years ago. However cannot wait to see the new venue, hoping it'll be as it once was! Staff are always friendly and drinks what you expect for a busy rock n roll bar.

Grungy-ass alleyway bar playing rock and roll classics until 5am. Usually a pretty good crowd for me, but my women friends have mentioned that there's creeps around a bit more than they'd like, but I guess the venue can only control that so much. Staff are always lovely, drinks are reasonable in price, and you can dance on the stage and sing along, in fact it's practically encouraged! Good sound for the live bands when they play too. Check this place out if you hate the Top 40 rubbish most places play and just wanna rock!

Wicked bar!! I went on a Thursday night after 12am. Great DJ playing some classic soul. Friendly vibes with lots of people dancing. First stop in Melbourne and it has set a high standard. Great spot!

A great place to see bands. Standard drink selections available. Crowds depends on the day and entertainment. Sunday accretions are usually relaxed with jazz or blues playing. Friday and Saturday nights are more varied rock and roll types. Can get really crowded!

Found this place "by accident" while passing through AC/DC Lane. We went in mid afternoon during a nice blues performance. People were nice, we had a pint for $11,00. The concert was $5 with an amazing blues band. Nice underground ambiance. We'd definitely come back.

You're not coming in here for the people, the service or the view from the rooftop bar that doesn't exist. You're coming in here because you want a dark bar that smells like old fashioned rock music (like your Pappy used to play - not that watered down, twee garbage the youngsters call rock these days!) Proper old rock that left you alone in the morning having stolen all your pocket change and taken what was left of the good vodka. One of the best live rock venues in Melbourne. Not every act that plays there is great of course, but geez when they've got a good line up of bands on; and theres a great turn out; the place is brilliant! Bands seem to wrap up about midnight? A rock Dj plays some great tunes, for several more hours after that usually.. I'd average maybe 1 visit a month; and I'm going to try and get that number up! Later public transport is making that easier too!

Some places try a bit too hard not to know their clientele. After a while as we all grow up, and some don't, you have to laugh a little and put a coin in the tip jar. I love seeing the monkeys at the zoo though this is cheaper though the monkeys don't have all the inhibitions partying nor the need for the paraphernalia to show how relaxed they are. Rock and roll used to be 10cc.... not 4cc. Keep on keeping on though. Next time I should see some improvement and a few more wrinkles.
