This is such a lovely spot for a few drinks! Really friendly bar tenders who make a killer espresso martini using cold pressed coffee. A really relaxed environment with good music and a fire to warm up by.

One of the most unique bars I’ve ever been to in my life. There are a lot of stairs, a wonder woman action finger, lots of greenery and funky grungey vibe. I love it. Great cocktails as well. It’s a must see. The balconies overlook Section 8 which is also a vibe. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

So many things to say about this place! From the bouncer to the bartenders and DJs, this place is all about positive vibes, reasonably priced drinks and friendly service. No wonder I've been a regular. Will drop before DJ starts playing next time to try their cocktails and have chat with people (might try everything on the list). Best of all, I prefer this bar over many countless others because of one of the bartenders' friendly service with a smile ;)

A lovely candlelit cocktail/dancing bar with a view of some city art and graffiti, and the neighbouring sister bar: section 8. DJs that groove with you and everyone applauds when the venue closes. Come for a first date or just the experience.

A slice of Collingwood in the city. Trendy, grungy, and great drinks. The toilet seat was a bit wonky though. I can imagine there would be some hilarious and awkward bathroom accidents after a few drinks here.

Cool underground (we’ll actually 2nd level) bar that reminds me of the days of old st jeromes bar. Covered in posters, brickwork and in general dark and dingy, it’s oozing cool and alternative, cozy and hip. This is MELBOURNE.

I love sitting beside the window in this place. Good beers. Nice vibe. Good music via djs. And whilst you watch the jam packed bar underneath Ferdydurke from your window sit you will feel sorry for them that they aren't in here. Good food too.

Went here one night to have some drinks with a friend. It's one of these places that would fit well into Berlin, too: a bit shabby, quirky and yet super cozy. Really liked it. A DJ was playing but almost no one was dancing. It's getting quite crowded later on, and there are only two toilets. Drinks are priced normally and service was good.

A long time favourite of mine. I normally bring friends or dates here to begin the night. It's quite a small and cosy space early in the evening, with boardgames available to play. Staff are normally very nice and helpful. It's not the cheapest and as far as i know they don't have a happy hour, but that also means it's not packed at 5pm on a friday like every other bar in the city.

Have been to Ferdydurke on a few occasions and used it once as a venue for an event I was hosting. Every time the staff have been wonderful and knowledgeable. Great bar food on offer and a wide and varied selection of drinks, especially beers. One of the best bars in Melbourne with a cool atmosphere. Would highly recommend going alone, on a date or with friends.

Really one of the coolest place to have a drink in the city, you actually don't feel like being in the city at all. Sort of young crowd, relaxed and chilled out. Definitely a place to have a beer thinking you are far away from the office and in a hipster area as Fitzroy 🤣🤣

Pretty cool place. Went on a Saturday night and the venue was upbeat and nice. The music was decent and the drinks were alright. May need to fix some stools but overall a pretty good place to go to. Received a lot of recommendations to check it out and glad I did.

Perfect place to chill with a drink and not be overwhelmed by a party attitude. Went on Friday 7pm and there was plenty of room plus nice beats at reasonable volume. Make sure you get a look at the view from the balcony, small number of barstools and tables outside.

Quick maths. One word. Lit. 4 words. Especially lit on Sundays. The staff are friendly AF. The drink is well priced. Pick the right night and you'll sweat puddles, dancing to some of the dopest hip hop, trap, r n b, house, grime and soul jams. Ferdydurke is my jams.

Overall had a great night music was good and the vibe pleasant. Facilities are rustic and clean. The bar staff team was let down by a rather passive aggressive female staff member who identified herself as the manageress. After clearing our groups unfinished drinks she then insisted members of our group say please when ordering drinks. This was quite funny because with the loud music he thought she was saying “Beeers”. To her credit half price drinks we’re offered.

tight oh so tight! I have spent many a lost night on the balconies of Ferdydurkes looking out over SEC 8 when its too busy to get in there. FD is small in the kindest terms and you will definitely get to know your neighbours passing them on the stairs or sidling up to the bar. I haven't eaten here but heard good things.

Awesome little bar, great in summer if your want an indoors/outdoors vibe without going the full rooftop experience. Vegetarian options aren't great for food, but I hear the hotdogs are pretty decent.

I think I like this bar because it makes me feel rebellious. Exotic european feeling?

After roaming around Melbourne deciding what to eat, I finally find Ferdydurke which had decent prices and was interesting. Going up several flights of stairs, admiring the atmosphere, I find the restaurant. I ordered the Royale and it was pretty good. The toppings where nice and fresh. The staff helped me with ordering and such. I guess the downfall for me was the meal wasnt that surprising, but it tasted wonderful. I would try the other items on the menu next time I visit.

TOASTIES & VEGAN DOGS! Honestly if that doesn't tickle your vego/vegan fancy I don't know what will. Food service was a little on the slow side on the number of occasions that I've been here, but so worth the glorious wait for the crispy cheesy oozy deliciousness when you get it. Vibe is very cool and moody, with a nice selection of beers on tap.

I've been to Ferdydurke's a number of times and it's easily one of my favourite places in the CBD when it comes to atmosphere. I've gone for after work drinks and had a pitcher with mates and I've gone at more peak times on a Friday/Saturday night with the live DJ. Like any bar in the CBD, it is packed to the brim on Friday/Saturday night but if you prefer a more mellow experience, going for after work drinks during the week is perfect. The reason this isn't a 5/5 is solely because I haven't tried any of the food yet.

What a intriguing name! I still remember reading that polish book back in my high school and thinking: what the heck?! Recommed reading its translation:) As surreal as the book so is this cool bar. If you are after something different than cbd typical places, something thta resembles Fitzroy bar then go and enjoy Ferdydurke! Love the name!
