S. I.Waitress is lovely! Food is perfect and delicious. Unfortunately I had to give 3 stars instead of a 5 due to the pasta. A screenshot has been provided as to what we ordered & then received. As you can see it’s completely different from the one we ordered. We asked about it only to find out the chef stopped making the one we ordered weeks ago. Ok? So why is it still on the menu? And why did nobody mention when we ordered that the meal no longer exists? Instead of saying anything, the chef continues to make his own meal up without warning. I’m 100% certain it’s a breach of contract to substitute food that’s advertised differently, it’s false advertisement actually. This isn’t on especially with allergies. Either update the menu or say the pasta is sold out. The poor waitress said we aren’t the first to have complained / brought it up so surely the owner/ chef could sort this out. Besides that everything else was fine.
L. A.We had Christmas lunch there today and honestly, apart from the turkey being a little dry, it surpassed all expectations! Serving sizes were ample (well above expectations), menu and quality of the food was superb. Wait staff and service were also amazing. Am keen to try an ordinary lunch/dinner, but until then, highly recommend.
B. H.Came with friends for a work gathering, great selection of drinks. And the food was better than I thought it would be. Steak cooked perfectly and Parma so tasty I had to say well worth ordering. Obviously changed hands since last was open as meals went out out in a timely fashion and the cooking skill that went into the steaks was impressive. Ordered a rare and got what I wanted as did all the others on the table, rare medium and med rare the chef got em all. Good work mate 👍
L. K.Absolutely enjoyed our family Christmas lunch at this venue yesterday. Would recommend it very highly. It was family friendly, the food was plentiful and delicious and the Christmas music modern. Congratulations to the chef and serving staff. Will come back for a family celebration next year .

M. M.Nice little setting.... The food was delicious and huge servings.... My daughters kids cheeseburger looked like it was a normal burger. My porterhouse steak was perfectly cooked and my wife's eggplant parma was delicious and huge.

J. O.Went for steak night and ordered the $23 250g porterhouse - Steak was ok but the chips were crinkle cut and the salad was only a small handful of mixed leaves. Disappointed because there photos show straight cut chips and a cos heart salad. Mushroom sauce was also very very ordinary tasting mostly of gravy.
D. O.Get the haloumi. It's the best I've ever had. Came with little watermelon squares and nuts. Also fried on this crunchy batter.
Steaks are cooked as requested and the Parma is huge.
Dessert selection is all but one... Sticky date pudding, but it's delicious.
Espresso Martini also highly recommended
T. R.Excellent lunch on the first weekend after lockdown eased. Got the table I requested, and the staff were very friendly and efficient all day. Great food too. If you’re vegetarian I highly recommend the eggplant parmigiana, lots of flavour and a nice crispness around the edges.

Wife and I came in for lunch last meal before she pops and the poor lass plonks down the wrong steak Infront of me. We were able to sort it out but she really needs to just breathe. Thanks for keeping the sirloin steak on the menu I must try the rib eye next time. The chefs really cook the steaks well and all good so tasty I love a meal I don't have to season. Keep it up guys and well done on hiring those that need to learn the industry
N.Always a solid Parma at this venue although the menu can be otherwise limited (Starters are also good). Reasonable food and drink prices that reflect most places in the area. They have managed to set up a great outdoor space (now extended due to COVID-19) and friendly staff. All in all a great little 'Local' to relax at.

r. t.Good service. The food portion was huge but taste average. My chicken salad was the most disappointing ...the maple(!) Bacon was unchewable,the chicken was oily and the egg was far too cold. The burger and the calamari weren't bad.

Looking forward to having our xmas party here in December. Also gluten friendly which was a pleasant surprise for a few of our guests.

S. K.Rate this joint I do. Sweet ambience and spacey, the midweek vibe was good to go (a wednesday). The parma was on point, a good size also and had a lil gourmet feel to it with I think what was parmessan on a top of it or other variety of grated cheese.
R. P.Food menu is small but solid quality... Parma is fresh an awesome size and not processed... Could do with some chilli tho. Dining room on the inside is perfect for a winter work lunch. Try and get a spot by the fire place!

W. B.A great experience from a service point. Because of a fear my child has of birds, we asked Babba (the gentleman serving us) to see if he could move our group of 8 inside. He was polite and understanding and said he would do his best. After about 10mins he returned and offered a table inside. This was amazing considering when we book the hotel was fully booked. This made our experience a stress free enjoyable with my family. The online ordering was easy and the food came out fast.
Unfortunately or though my Parma was huge, it wasn’t particularly tasty. Definitely eatable, but not the best. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food and overall it we were very happy.

The staff were great and our guests enjoyed a great range of wines and beers and the food (ordered of the standard menu) was delicious. The haloumi chips were so amazing! We were all so well looked after and everyone had a great time. Wish I lived or worked in the area and could come back here more often.
M. R.I have been in this place a few time after the lockdown and it has been a great experience visit. Food, service and vibe are excelent. In this place I have enjoyed live music and, this week I went for a Drag Queen Trivia which was really enjoyable.

My other dinners had vegetarian meals which were also excellent. Service was also excellent. We ate in the dinning area which was cosy with the open fire and beautifully decorated. The waitress noticed our friend wasn't sharing the entree with the rest of the group due to her dietary requirements. A few moments late she brought out a small portion that the chef had made specially so our friend didn't feel left out. Thank you for being so thoughtful, you made our night. Thank you also to the chef, everything was perfect.
p. o.Nice place on a lovely wednesday evening. We had dinner with friends nearby and popped in here for coffee. The wait staff behind the counter was super nice and efficient, even though she was running around serving everyone. It was a nice night until a group of people next to us started smoking, which basically ruined our night. If this did not happen, i would have given it a 5 star rating.

Love that they offer a petite parma, can never eat a full one and this is perfect size. Great flavour, must be the sauce they use, big thumbs up.
Only suggestion is having aoli available, they only had mayo.

S. J.I was here for a function upstairs recently and the space was great. I'm not sure who the food was organised through but it was delicious and the staff were very friendly and accommodating all night.
This made it easy for everyone, including the organisers, to have a fun night and mingle with all the guests.
K.I was there for dinner on a Thursday. $10 steaks, so I decided to get two. One pepper one mushroom sauce medium rare. They were both delicious. Service was great. Atmosphere was great.

Very generous servings (and we can eat massive roasts) so no complaints at all. The two vegans in our group were also very happy with their meat substitute.

A. J.As crowded as South Melbourne is with pubs and hotels, Golden Gate has proven to be one of the better ones. Great and quick service, friendly staff, comfortable venue and a menu that caters to most dietary requirements, including vegetarians and coeliacs.
If you're dropping by for a bite, don't miss the haloumi chips. The eggplant parma is also to die for.

My daughter friends and family were at your hotel last Saturday night to celebrate her birthday. Jade was polite and friendly and made the whole experience so much better as she had fantastic customer service and she seemed to really enjoy her job. I dont often do this but Jade deserves to be recognised for her great service. Thanks we had a great time and the food was very nice.
