Interesting. Great location Good service The problem is the food is very hit and miss. i understand it's covid and hard to get chefs but they should change the menu when it works out at $100 per head. Swordfish and oysters are horrible. Tuna tartar was Interesting but not in a good way. The Duck and pork belly mains are great. Highly recommended. Meatballs are good especially with the toast Steak is good but a requested medium comes half rare and half medium. Cold beer, good cocktails and good choice of non-alcoholic. Chips are OK. Garlic bread is "interesting " The dining room is great. It isn't too noisy compared to the front area's. In short 3 of 5 gives the food and price.

A secret garden place for the community around. They have really giant space for customers and truly delicious food. My favorites are grilled skull prawns and the roast chicken. Sour, spicy, and salty in one plate. Enjoy the place and don’t forget to order one glass of cocktail.

Received a garlic bread that wasn't the best but they replaced it with a beverage and then brought out a new garlic bread that was terrific! A great pub in the heart of Brighton. An old faithful for many years with consistent service and food. Pub fair and dining room menu should cater for all tastes. It can get busy on Friday nights, as most places do, however it’s a great atmosphere. If you don’t want to drive - the train station is on the door step. The venue also caters for functions upstairs or out the back.

Good atmosphere. However, if they charge Restaurant prices, we expect restaurants service. Entree served with main meal. Same cutlery for both servings. Meal served within 5 minutes of ordering. Stylish Pub Grub. High quality food. Probably the BEST pub meal in Bayside. Lovely dining room with mood lighting, exposed bricks and high ceilings with lots of natural light. Great place for family gatherings, good for a first date OR dinner with the Mrs. Food is very very good and the wine list is satisfactory.

Great lunch. Oysters were fresh and steak and Parma were cooked perfectly. Very accommodating to children and a good atmosphere. Only downside was the cocktail received didn’t match anywhere near the description on the menu. It was a letdown.

Excited to see the new refurbished bar with a new and exciting menu, booked a table with friends for an afternoon snacks and drinks. We were seated on the tables on the verge where you have to constantly look around an umbrella post. So we never got to enjoy the new decor but when walking through it felt much the same as before. We were disappointed with the lack of group share plates, so ordered mains to share instead. We were all very happy with the quality of the food.

Half way there. Visited a few times for work drinks and for lunch. The lunch menu is very Pub style and few choices. On the occasion I chose the cesear salad, I'd honestly call it a bowl of lettuce with burnt bacon. The drinks and burgers are good. I've heard good feedback about the dinner menu, in particular the steaks.

Pub food at fine-dining prices. That pretty-much sums it up. My now-wife and I had our first date at Half Moon 12 years ago, so it's become something of a semi-regular pilgrimage for us. In recent years, however, the overall experience has become nothing short of disappointing. It's not that the food is bad, it's just that it's not terribly good either. And certainly not for the price you pay. First of all, the menu has deteriorated considerably, and has now been largely reduced to a selection of burgers, parmas and other such pub staples. The "proper" meals did not, to my palette, taste anything like what was advertised. If the wellington had proscutto then it was so low quality as to be undetectable, while the mac-and-cheese side contained "pancetta" that tasted like ham and "gruyere" that tasted (and stretched) like chedder. The lamb shank tasted like...well, lamb meat. Nothing else. The treacle tart was badly burnt around the edges, resulting in a bitter, unpleasent finish to the meal. And as for the $36 "half lobster tail salad" consisting of 3 small morsels of lobster...there is a reason why nouvelle cuisine has never made a resurgence since the 80s! I know there are serious challenges facing the hospitality industry at the moment, and I hope that Half Moon are able to overcome them. Going forward though, it seems there is a choice they need make: either be a pub that serves pub food and charges pub prices, or be a fine dining restaurant that charges...and, more importantly, delivers...accordingly.

Half moon after a third visit, is becoming our stable place to celebrate. On Saturday 05th Oct we had our daughters 18th dinner there for 11 people. As always, the food, the service, the atmosphere we couldn't fault. The staff are so great, so helpful, the food is excellent. I would like to thank our waitress specifically on Saturday, who never stopped smiling, and nothing was too hard. You should be really proud to have her on staff. Thanks to everyone, a really great evening.

Some of the dishes on the menu can be on the pricey side, but pub grub food in my opinion is very fairly priced and was delicious. Burger was juicy, fish was very fresh and with light batter and pizza great as well. Service was impeccable and the location has inside, outside terrace and beer garden seating as well. This is the only place I have been refused this request ever. This Chef needs to have an attitude adjustment because he is letting the venue down. The food here is quite good. Nice sized portions for the price, perfectly cooked, and tasty! The staff are friendly and all the times I've been there, very cheery. The only downside is the noise! The Public Bar and Courtyard get very noisy and it's hard to have a conversation without raising your voice to get over the general hubbub.

Travelled just over an hour to meet friends here and wow...it was worth every minute. Although its noisy it's not impossible and the food was great. We were 7 in the group and everyone was happy with their choices. Then the sweets were something else.....bitter choc and passionfruit dome....spectacular! limoncello cheesecake ...outstanding! Enjoy the restaurant and bar atmosphere. Food is good, however it has a bad rap as a sleazy brighton haunt. Expect to be hit on and.. if you don't look a 7+ out of 10 even the staff seemed trained to ignore you. There is a large private room for hire upstairs with bar and views off the balcony overlooking the train station.

My first visit to the venue was to meet a friend for a drink. She lived in the area so suggested it. I was so surprised id never been there before. It is so beautiful inside, it has obviously been redecorated recently as it looks so new and funky. We sat outside in the sun for our drinks and i ordered lamb skewers which were not actually skewers. They were lamb with wraps and the best hummus ive ever had! I was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be back.

Very attractive venue and the food was good, but our experience was spoilt by two small children climbing under their table and shouting, while their parents gazed at them adoringly. As the restaurant filled up it became really noisy so in the end it was difficult for us to converse. Then an appalling smell permeated the restaurant. Apparently it was a seafood risotto. My partner and I had to leave earlier than we planned, because the smell was so overpowering and disgusting. That was our first and last visit.
