Our food took 40 minutes to come but honestly I do not blame them because they are pretty much the only place open for dine-in in Halls Gap. Everything else are either closed or takeaway only because of staff shortage. Huge outdoor dining area with the look over the mountain and lots of kangaroos. Great vibe even just for a beer and a bowl of chips. The food weren’t anything fancy and awesome but they are nice pub food. Burger and pizza look sad but the steak and parma were good. Overall great place to dine in Halls Gap.

Surrounded by perfect scenery, this pub is as good as it looks! Great meals, friendly staff and plenty of Australian wildlife on the door step. Had to visit multiple times to enjoy what the menu had to offer. Perfect little hideaway for a drink on the back deck or a great meal with friends and family.

I’d say this is the “go to” for anyone visiting the Grampians or staying close by. Nice venue with the outside area but the inside could do with a new look. All staff are super friendly which is great to see as I’d imagine a lot of tourists coming by. Food is good, probably review the seasoning as my steak and chips were quite salty and had to scrape off the excess with my knife. I sat on table 24, just wanted to mention the fly situation that could be looked into as I don’t want to be swatting flies while eating my food. Not the biggest issue, I’d happily return in the future!

Great food and great setting for the kids too with indoor play area. While we were expecting an ordinary pub food, we got served gourmet food, which we really enjoyed and the kids too! It was way too hot to sit outside but the outdoor setting is fantastic with a great view of the scenery and the surrounding mountains.

Customer service experience was poor. There were no staff to greet us at the main entrance.We then went to sit down and there was a waiter putting cutlery on the surrounding tables but he deliberately skipped ours, when he could see we had no cutlery. A waitress then confronted us about why we didnt wait to be seated.It was not a welcoming experience. The food we ordered was quite good though.

This is a great pub. The food is absolutely fantastic and the staff are wonderful! We have been here a number of times now and we really enjoy it each time we come. I unfortunately lost my wedding ring here over 2 weeks ago and the staff recently contacted me after it was found and it's been returned to me. They were so helpful and really understanding and went to the effort of making sure I got it back. I honestly cannot thank them enough for going out of their way for me and helping me. They are really good people 💖💖💖 if you ever visit Halls Gap this is the best place to dine out by far! 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fantastic food with great service. The location is very nice, I recommend sitting out side where if you are lucky you can dine whilst watching the Kangaroos graze. It is a little on the pricey side for drinks (thought I was in Sydney CBD), but I can highly recommend the Kangaroo Tasting Plate and the Spring Rolls.

Really nice food with a large menu with plenty to choose from. Had the Wagyu cheeseburger which was really delicious, would recommend. Also, our drinks were accidentally spilt by one of our group, and these were nicely replaced at no extra cost. Wait staff were very friendly and kind. The chef and staff here do a wonderful job under difficult conditions. The food is amazing! Started off with the Korean chicken awesome flavours then followed up with a the scotch fillet cooked perfectly with the brandy peppercorn sauce - delicious. Wife had the calamari salad which was probably the best shes eaten of its kind a wonderful kaleidoscope of flavour! We are coming back tomorrow.

Great menu with fresh tasty dishes. Includes options for gluten free and vegan. Staff are friendly and helpful. Fires burning in the dining room and the bar make winter visits cosy. OK range of tap beer with some excellent options in the fridge. Excellent wine list with some fantastic local wines. Heaps of parking, but is also connected to other parts of the town by a sealed shared bike path so walking an excellent option for longer sessions (and the local police keep a close eye on those that drive).

The menu has something for everyone from fried chicken to dumplings to kangaroo and beef. Kids friendly menu also available. Restaurant has free wifi and staff are lovely and very friendly. Fair variety of meals to choose but of course with a tidy price. So we chose a slightly cheaper option. Desert was beautifully presented and sensational which lifted our rating. Unfortunatly there was no A/C for what we thought was a very warm/ sticky day. Not even fans. And what could do nicely is a mix of salad we could choose from in a refrigerated salad bar like in most bistros. Rather then being dumped with there choice of thistly looking lettuce and not much else. Otherwise good meal. Thankyou.

Review udated Mar'17 and lost a star for me. The place underwent some renovations recently and has now more seating outside and a terrace at the bar. A new carpet makes the bistro brighter. I miss the salad bar which has been removed. The lemon pepper calamari were nicely cooked but served on a serviette inside a bowl, the chips were good but the salad on the side was dry and tasteless, another serviette under the chips and the dip dish had already soaked up part of the dip. Would be nicer if the serviettes would be left out of the food. The meatball pizza was nicely spiced but overpriced for the size. Still a nice setting with good views and one of the better places for dinner, but the salad and veggie bar was one of its strengths and they are gone now. The menu also appears to have shrunk.

Beautiful pub with great outdoor seating area, where we ate. Our dinner was absolutely delicious! Kids meals were a decent size. The scenery outside was beautiful with roos everywhere and there's also a small playground nearby the alfresco area. There are no gaming options there at all, not even keno which was one of the downsides, only because I felt like playing a few games. The staff were lovely but my daughter was given a dish she didn't order but we didn't complain as she absolutely loved it :)

Very busy restaurant. Booking is recommended. A bit hard to spot in the dark with no street lighting on the road. Plenty of parking. Good variety of food. Did have to wait about 45 minutes for food from ordering to table. Parts of the dish had cooled down. Pizza was OK. Noisy environment when busy, hard to have a conversation.

Beautiful scenery around the pub so we sat outside on the balcony. The food came out very quickly, we had the foccacia and chicken dumplings for entrees, and they were absolutely delicious! A parmigiana and scotch fillet for mains, the meat in both meals were so tender and full of flavour, would definitely recommend. The pear an rhubarb tart was brought out cold, which could have been so much nicer if it had of been warmed up! Other than that no complaints! Quick and friendly service.

Was highly rated online so we booked. Unfortunately we didn't feel that it met the online reviews. Food was salty and meat/fish tasted like it was frozen. Gravy was like jelly and chips tasted like frozen packet chips. Was very pricey for quality. Very disappointed.

We booked one place in Halls Gap for lunch, but decided to cancel as the woman was so rude, went across the road after ringing asking if we needed to make a booking and when we got there they said they couldn't accommodate us. We rang Halls Gap Restaurant and they said the kitchens closing soon, we ordered over the phone despite really looking at the menu. When we arrived the staff knew who we were before we had to ask anyone. What a hidden gem regardless of being on the main road, we hadn't really been captivated by it. We are now, the food was delicious, the scenery and views just lovely and the staff were fabulous. Thank you. Highly recommend.

One of the best pub feeds we've had! Booked in a couple of days in advance (super busy at the moment) and it was worth the wait. We were greeted by a super frieny staff member as well. Ordered a Parma and brisket and both could not be faulted. Will definitely return next time we're in the area.

When we arrived, no record of it.. so we were put somewhere else as they were not that busy.. we ordered home made spring rolls and the mongolian pizza,,. Spring rolls were not home made.. sauce lacked flavour, pizza flavours were pleasant, but the lamb was tough as old shoe laces.. however, could not fault the table service, the big Swede guy was pleasant, helpful and on cue between courses. Bar man could not make any Kahlua cocktails except with coke or vodka.. missus chose wine instead. Unsure about the general pub meals, but most people left quickly after finishing their meals.. maybe will choose other venue in town next time.

The crowds of Easter had left so it was time to dine somewhere nice and warm in a chilly April evening. This large pub just out of town has a large dining room that accommodates a lot of people. The menu is extensive and worth checking the specials board as well. Tonight for my colleague was a steak and I had a mezze plate. Delicious. Portion size was good. Order drinks and meals at the bar. Prices aren’t cheap but the food it good. You can sit in the dining room and see the kangaroos and emus at dusk. Staff were helpful and very friendly. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Prams and stroller accessible. Good parking.

Highly recommend. Had two meals over the weekend just past and both were fantastic and the staff were extremely friendly and capable. It was 40 degrees outside but still very pleasant once the sun went down and play equipment outside and great grass area meant kids loved it also. Perfect viewing spot for the dozens of kangaroos that come down to the dam every evening. Worth mentioning that despite losing power due to the heat the staff kept on working as per normal and the kitchen staff were tremendous in managing to continue to work in the dark! Most other places would have closed immediately. Great stuff and will be back. Thank you.

Good place to get ur brunch done as the kitchen only stays open from 11.30am to 2.00pm. Expensive food due to being in a remote area which is self explanatory. Try to sit outside as the view is remarkable.

Great pub to visit if you are staying in the area. It has a front bar with large screen televisions for live sport and the bistro has good food for the family. There is a small games room inside but tons of room to runaround outside with a stunning view! Nice place to stop in and just relax.

We stayed at the wonderful nearby DULC cabins and mainly self-catered. However, we ate here in the bistro one night. The food was what one call mid-range, i.e. not fast food and not haute cuisine. It was good and tasty. The room itself is pretty unremarkable but it looks out onto an open area where hoppy creatures can be seen during daylight. At 6.30pm in September it's pretty dark and also cool, so we were very glad to see a fire adding warmth and ambience. The bistro was very full, which I think speaks for itself. Prices fairly matched the food on offer. Everyone seemed happy. This would never claim to be a stunning eatery but it was more than decent enough for our tastes and also, we're guessing, most other people enjoying Halls Gap.

Ate here twice. First meal was good, steak and chicken parmigiano, second time was not great at all. Our waitor was clearly on his first night and when I gently told him my meal was seriously undercooked he said "ehrmm good advice thanks". Another waitor got me another meal which was identical. Undercooked chips and worse chicken leaking pink and still slippery. Disgusting. Surely after a complaint and meal sent back you'd make sure to give the chicken an extra minutes or two.
