Staying In Melbourne for a few nights, we really felt like a pub meal after a couple of 'fancy' meals. I booked The Spencer as it was a short walk from our hotel and the reviews looked good. It was a busy place when we arrived at were seated in the front bar. The atmosphere was great and the staff really welcoming. The food was great. My husband had a chicken Parma and I opted for the fish and chips. It was hot, fresh and tasty. We stayed on for a couple of drinks because we were enjoying the atmosphere souch. The locals were really friendly as was the dog who dropped in with his humans for dinner. I only ever stop to write reviews for.l places that strike a chord with me. You could tell the publican really loved her place and cared about making the patrons feel welcome. I highly recommend Hotel Spencer for a great place to stop for a drink ot meal. We will be back when we're in Melbourne next!

This has to be hands down one of the best pubs in Melbourne in terms of service, cleanliness and quality or product. I recently moved to North Melbourne with my girlfriend and have had nothing but a positive experience visiting this establishment. Having a positive and welcoming staff goes a long way in my experience and is the main reason I come back to this place over and over. The beers are cold, great variety and a great place to unwind. The only con is that it's not open enough, I guess that could mean I would love to come here more often so a subtle pro as well.

Popped in for a quick meal and couple of drinks with a couple of friends on a Saturday night, first greeted by friendly bar staff, ordered meals and there was like a 1 drink wait time. The meals were soo fresh and delicious also catering for vegans. Get down there, check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Changed venue for lunch today. Not a huge gourmet burger junkie. Usually it feels like fast food to me and 'acceptable' is enough. I must be honest. I usually find spending $20+ on a burger and chips a little... Unnecessary (?) - as I say acceptable is usually enough for me which might be distorting my view. BUT, having had this burger, I would honestly say I'd go back any time! Succulent burger, beautiful onions, refreshing pickles, absolutely delicious beetroot and that bun is just perfect. Colleague ordered the fish and chips and was delighted. Perfectly fried. Chips were crunchy but not hard. You could tell they change their oil, no weird aftertaste on the chips. There's a mushroom and 4 cheese burger and 2 vegan options also! Gets my 5 stars. I'd definitely recommend and definitely going back for more!!!

Really great pub. There did only appear to be 1 staff member on a Saturday night, taking orders and serving drinks, which we thought was odd. It is a small pub though, and i believe they have covid protocol which limit amount of staff allowed to work? Not sure, but they could certainly do with having another staff member on, especially on a saturday night. It wasn't too busy on account of bad weather, but still pretty full. The 1 staff member on did a great job! You could tell she was run off her feet, but she kept her cool and was so polite and inviting. The food was so delicious. We had a parma and a burger. Both were generous serves and really really good. We'll be back.

A homely atmosphere in a 1920's pub. There is a great beer range, from the standard Carlton draft, to Vintage Coopers. The food is pretty darn good as well, the Mrs gave the fish and chips 8 out of 10. I gave the burger 7.5; the burgers are better at Hotel Spencer. It's a good place for a Saturday lunch as it was not too busy. Highly recommended.

Nice Pub food, decent pub steak and the southern style wings were large and juicy. If it looks burnt its just the paprika they use, kinda crumbly so it will be a messy eat. But nice place would come again.

Great atmosphere with good cold beers served with a smile. Staff are always considerate, helpful and present well. Parking available literally right outside the door. Will be back as they looked after me and my belly with a super delish burger of perfection with chips, mmmmm glorious chips.

Great selection of beer and pub food in a cosy venue. The Parma was delicious and the meat juicy. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. My only disappointment was the price of our drinks. I was charged $17 per pint which was abit excessive I think. Abit of a shame as it was a great experience being there. Simply the price is stopping me from giving 5 stars. (EDIT: Thankyou for your response and for clearing that up. This explanation on the price is fair and I will therfore change my rating to 5 stars. I appreciate it.)

The best Pub in town for a Pre Game Beer and meal prior to attending a game at the Docklands Stadium. Great Food, good staff, good selection of Beer. Only negative is that it isn't open on Sundays.

GOOD ATMOSPHERE LOCAL PUB SERVING DECENT FOOD The hotel is quite old and has interesting interior architecture. Good place to just have a drink with friends in a quiet environment or a dinner for many in their dining room. Friendly staff and reasonable prices make it one of the better options along the Spencer St strip in West Melbourne

I went to a 30th here, and it was increadble! We had organised a surprise party and everyone there was all to happy yo help. there were food option for all in attendance, they had vegan mac and cheese croquettes, pulled pork subs and more. I still havent stopped going on about the options on tap. While this is quite a bit out of my way, I'm excited to go back.
