Rooftop was full, so we opted to dine in the outdoor setting along the footpath. It's fun to people watch here. Order is via QR code on the table; food came out pretty quickly. Sliders presentation can definitely do better, but the juicy and delicious patty made up for it. Wish we got the bigger version. Parmi was juicy and soft, liked that too. The chicken tenders, however, was dry and tough, the batter tasted burnt.

Booked my team Christmas party here and was so fun! We only had 2 hour booking and the guy was a bit curt on kicking us off. But he redeemed himself by organizing another table for us. We were ordering so many drinks so think that might have helped. They even let us stay there and moved another booking. Great service! Drinks and food was solid. A great spot for a group gathering, but book ahead!

Good quality chicken Parma and good quality beer. Just average. A little bit expensive at $24-$26 for mains. That’s what you get here, it’s a good CBD pub that serves pub classics, it isn’t a normal restaurant or fancy schmack dining. The eggplant Parma was average. The burgers were just alright.

Booked a table at the Imperial Hotel for my birthday and had an awesome time! Staff were very helpful and were responsive when communicating with them via email. Venue location is very convenient and has a wonderful view of Parliament House. Ordering food and drinks to your table is very easy, with just a simple scan of a QR code. Quite a big drinks menu, and tasted great. Big shoutout to one of the rooftop bar wait staff (unsure of his name sorry!) who was working hard to get our drinks to our table even though it was raining and wet up on the rooftop. He’s a legend! Despite the rain, we had a great time! Would love to visit again on a warm summer night.

Have been here plenty of times with a variety of people for both dinner and drinks. Would definitely recommend for both - the food is great, especially the chips and the beers are cold. The view upstairs of parliament is amazing and probably the best you can get, although on a cold night I'd hope they drag out some space heaters. Cheers

Had a great day/night catching up with mate from out SE and OS, excellent atmosphere on the rooftop, crowded towards the end. Nice and quietish in the Cabinet room for meals – excellent food, quick service and a not so busy bar as well. Only negative is the music could be louder in the smoker’s area, besides that, overall, an excellent place to meet up and eat.

She not only made it stress free for me but went above and beyond by organizing balloons, table menus, welcome board and stuck to our theme. Thank you so much Sue! Great location, really nice rooftop with views over parliament. Great variety of tap drinks and great tv setup for the premier league fans with multiple TVs on multiple games so you can keep an eye on all the action.

The Imperial has a nice rooftop bar with heating and comfortable seating. They had a nice selection of drinks including cocktails and spritzers. The only reason it's 4 instead of 5 is that the food was quite expensive. $28 for a Parma here. It is nice, I especially liked the chips, but there was no food specials or cheaper items to eat. It also was a bit strange that a jug of beer is the same price as 2 pints, usually it's a bit cheaper if you buy more but that isn't the case here.

Hey folks, Merry Christmas from the Imperial hotel. It’s a nice place for a drinks a yummy good. I had the lobster prawn roll and It was delicious. If you are close to parliament don’t hesitate to enjoy this rooftop!

Fantastic lunch menu selection, easy place to, staff were very friendly and helpful. We were a big party, but there were others in bigger parties that got their food first, which was annoying. The full serving of the chicken parmigiana was big, bigger than the standard, but I enjoyed every bite, including the “hard to breathe” stage to get it all in, totally worth it! Highly recommend and would come back again.

There is a roof top beer garden which may not be open all the time but you can be sure on the busiest warmer months you’ll be free to enjoy this space. Went for the Wizards' Brunch upstairs. Was an absolute delight. Your choice of one the dishes and unlimited drinks, all with a magi all twist/theme. Staff were great and friendly, made sure we had everything we needed. Whether going for the weekly brunch or drinks between the Cursed Child sets, do yourself a favour and go to the Imperial for a magical time!

Lovely view and atmosphere on sunny day on the rooftop. Tiny side plates and bamboo cutlery made sharing not the ideal dining experience. Platter and corn cobs were good, quinoa salad was ok but dressing was a bit too subtle, needed more flavour.

Visited the Harry Potter themed rooftop with my partner last weekend and we loved it... The bar staff were friendly and helpful and the drinks were delicious. They had some private little booth areas that could be reserved which were cute and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. Will definitely go back again... also for those who don't like actual beer like myself and would like a "butter beer" just ask the staff to add a shot of vodka into the non-alcoholic butter beer and pay the difference, it was yummy and staff were very accommodating :)

Update : a year later and we walked in on a Friday evening coincidentally in the middle of happy hours. Cheerful atmosphere and quick service yielded a nice couple of beverages in a welcoming indoor seating area. The sweet potato fries are a delectable combination to beer, worth trying!

Atmosphere is nothing special (but what do you expect from a pub) unless you're on the rooftop, but it's a nice chilled place to catch up for drinks and the service (I believe our bartender was also the manger) was great. Visited the roof top for a drink with friends. Drinks are average price. Winter so there was a see trough gazebo and heaters. Rainy and windy night and it was very comfortable. Can order coffee from ground floor and delivered to the rooftop but the coffee is below average quality. Great customer service and fast. Other rooms include a pub seating area, meeting rooms, smoking area (no roof), restaurant/bar area for a quiter scene.

I was lucky enough to organise a wedding at the imperial. The staff went out of their way to help with everything, they were helpful, accommodating and more than happy to make the event a success. The rooms were beautiful and well positioned. Thank you to all the staff that made the day wonderful, we appreciated all the hard work that they put in. Rooftop bar was recently transformed into a Harry Potter Themed bar - Vertic Alley. They served up a nice variety of HP themed snacks and an alcoholic interpretation of the infamous Butter Beer. Definitely worth a visit.

Popped in for lunch on a recommendation for their great Parma. Absolutely wonderful staff - friendly and kind. Got a nice, cold pint of cider on the bartenders recommendation and loved it. The salad served with the Parma was fresh, lightly dressed and delicious. The Parma itself left much to be desired, but based on others reviews, perhaps I just got the leftovers at end of the lunch rush? All in all, while the Parma wasn’t fa-nom, I’d totally come back and give it another try.

It's great that you are showing the Euros, but $45 to reserve a seat is a bit much, even if it includes 3 drinks. There are no options for people that don't drink, just a flat $45 fee. The other downside to the event was that there was no hot food options.

Came in last night for a drink and had the pleasure of being served by Ashini, she went above and beyond what we expected. They only had one wine glass left but even though my girlfriend and I said that one of us is happy to have our drink out of a champagne glass, Ashini made sure both of us had proper wine glasses. Held a conversation with us even while taking other customers' orders while we waited for our drinks. Imperial Hotel is more than lucky to have such a professional and charismatic staff member a part of their team! Will definitely be back!

Always a good time at Imperial. The rooftop space makes it a great place to have drinks with friends on a hot summer's evening. It's a great vibe downstairs also, especially when there's a game on it can get quite loud. I came here for dinner and drinks with a group of friends before lockdown and ordered the fish and chips. It was a huge portion and I found the fish had a bit too much batter for my liking, but what can you expect from a pub style eatery. It's also a great hangout for after a show or event, would definitely recommend Imperial!

Oh my, oh my. This place isn't the best place to stay or to dine. It doesn't have the fla fla of the ones around, but! If you're looking for a place to watch Liverpool tear other teams apart, with a beer and the best set of fans in town, it's the place to be. I've had countless great times at the venue. The selection of 🍻 is pretty good. It's the typical pub menu for food with a kickass roof top. Perfect place to grab a beer with your mates to watch a game or before heading to the MCG for a game. Ideally located in the corner of Burke and spring road, next to some great accommodation places.

Update - March 2021 I came here to watch an AFL match with a mate. We booked a table and we had dinner which was good, but literally 4 -5 mins before the end of rhe game about 10 people stood right behind me at my table talking so loudly, that I couldn't hear the final nail biting minutes of the game!! I did manage to move seats but it was really annoying and as soon as the game finished they disappeared!! So I don't know why I had to book a table to be honest. I could have stood up and watched the game with a dozen mates and just talked loudly all night!! Previous review - mid 2020 Came here for some drinks with friends. The service was friendly bad efficient. They still serve some good beers here and my white rabbit dark ale went down a treat lol I also tried a white rabbit white ale whose was pretty good too. This place had a band playing when we were there which was fun, and the punters are a friendly lot. This place is fun. Previous review March 2017 Went here today to meet a couple of friends. The service was excellent, really happy chatty staff. Good selection of dunks and they serve burgers n chips and pizzas upstairs on the rooftop bar. I'm coming back here for sure haha And I've just realised that that I only took 1 pic which is a pity as the rooftop views were good.

This is one of our go to places for after work drinks. It’s a big space so we usually can find a table, even on Friday evenings. The rooftop bar is also good. Standard pub fare - albeit a bit pricey - and a good range of beers on tap. I miss the old happy hour special, though!

My friends and I spent some time on the rooftop of the Imperial hotel, which was quite nice. The staff were very accomodating with my dietary restrictions, suggesting they could make anything on the menu without onion and garlic - which is pretty rare. I had a mushroom burger, which came quickly and was delicious. Later on, one of my friends ordered chips that took quite a long time, and the staff happily made her new chips and gave her her money back, which I was very impressed with. Would come here again :)

Excellent food and very helpful staff. Not the cheapest eat, but prices are quite reasonable and serving sizes tend to be large. Some good gluten free options available too. The downstairs area is usually pretty busy, noisy and crowded at peak times. However upstairs is much quieter and amenable to pleasant conversation over dinner. Well worth booking ahead of time for an event to guarantee a good table upstairs.

Great location. Great atmosphere. Waitress seating guests on Sunday 31st was a bit abrupt, witnessed a rude attitude to others also. Bar staff were great. Steak sandwich was cold and had been sitting for awhile before being delivered to us - bread hard as a rock. Disappointing since the last time I went. When you know there's a show on at Her Majesty's Theatre, 2 doors up, you need to get organised, its a given that it's going to be busy. Overall - you need to lift your game.

Be warned. Requires a photo ID if you’re going to start a tab. That means passport if you’re traveling here from abroad most likely. Drinks are good and hearty. Just tried the new Rooftop Bar for lunch. It's only been open a few months, so you'd expect a few teething problems, I guess. We were there nice and early (midday sharp) to beat the lunch rush, but still our food took 45 minutes to come! We couldn't really see any food coming out of the kitchen for what seemed like an eternity. My friend bought a drink from the bar and thought that the staff were a little rude. The burgers were delivered with no serviettes or cutlery (just in a plastic basked with a bit of paper that blows out of said basket). The chips and gravy were literally swimming in the gravy: it was way, way, way too much gravy. The burger was very. very tasty. Overall, it was very annoying to have to wait for so long, and I probably wouldn't go again until the service gets a bit more spark.

The Imperial's not a bad pub, but in my book it lacks the soul that would bump it up to four stars. Beers here are pretty much your Melbourne standard. No complaints, but no reason to cross town either. The staff have always been helpful and friendly. The building itself has a lot of potential. It's in a great location, shows its heritage, is clean, well-presented and gives no reason for complaint . . . yet no reason for excitement, either. Downstairs has the usual boring corporate dining room / sports bar vibe. In bizarre contrast, the roof -- blast it -- is always chockers with the party girl set. It's loud, it's crowded, it's totally wanting in the comfortable and familiar vibe that makes a great pub. Of course, if that's your bag then add a star or two. The people up there obviously love it. Ah, well, it's working for the owners, and I don't begrudge them the income. In sum, I can easily imaging being carried along to The Imperial among a group of friends and then having a perfectly OK Friday night, but in terms of swinging by for a traditional pint on a traditional Sunday afternoon - sadly, no.

Ordered the lemon Calamari dish and the chicken parmigiana dish here on a Saturday Night (29/09/18) I know it was just after the finish of the Victorian AFL grand final ( it was around 8.00 pm) so we did expect to have to wait a bit for the meal. We ended up waiting about 35-45 minutes (which was fine) but we didn’t expect both meals to be served to us at a lukewarm temperature! As we were both really hungry, we still ended up eating maybe a 1/4 of the meals. But after about 3 Mins, the meals had both gone completely cold so ended up leaving the rest behind in disgust. This was our first ever, interstate visit to Melbourne and this was our first evening meal whilst there. Not impressed :-( Yes we could have returned the meals to the kitchen, but by the time the meal arrived, we where both very hungry and didn’t fancy the idea of having to wait all over again or just have our meal reheated quickly in a microwave. Staff need to check that the meals are actually hot before serving to customers. I also work “face to face” with customers, on a day to day basis, and know that sometimes things don’t go to plan, but this was a very poor effort at customer service. Update to my original review...... I responded to James (and Nathan) the managers request to contact them and they have very kindly provided us with a meal voucher worth more than what we originally spent on our meal. ( which we can also use in Sydney and Brisbane with no expiry date) Nathan was also sincerely very disappointed to hear of our experience at The Imperial Hotel Melbourne, and has assured me numerous times that he will do everything he can to ensure that this doesn’t happen again, to anyone.! So whilst it was originally not a great meal, I am now very impressed with the managements response to this incident! Excellent customer service. Thanks Nathan and James!

It's a pub atmosphere with pub food and pub tables. The patrons are business men wearings dark suites, government employees out for a pint, tradies enjoying a well earned pot and the occasional pub veteran that walks to the bar and asks the staff "what's on special, mate?". On the specials question: apparently nothing is...and never is as they don't do beer specials (referring to price, not release) but it made me realize I'm just a novice and need to pick up my game if I want to be a pub-ologist. Anyway, The Imperial always seems to have to people going in and out, and is big enough that you'll almost always find seating. The food is fine and the schnitzel will fill up almost anyone (it's a good sized meal). The fermented beverage prices may encourage you to moderate your alchohol intake, though again I will highlight the fact I'm not a pub-ologist and my points of reference are limited. From memory a pint of Guinness or Bass was around the $12 mark. I'm sure domestic is more competitively priced, but I do not have the intestinal fortitude to ask for the specials of the day. 🍺
