Lui bar is, hands down, the best rooftop bar experience in Melbourne. Tantalising views of the city, suburbs and the mountain ranges in the outskirts. Try and get yourself here on a clear day to see a beautiful sunset, and enjoy the live jazz music on Sundays. We had some great cocktails - definitely try their seasonals as well as classics

Lui bar is one of those places that is just special. I'm sure the concept of a bar in the clouds with a price tag to match is not for everyone, but it is an experience most would enjoy. You feel like you are somewhere truly amazing when you come here - largely in part to the breathtaking views. The decor is fantastic, the bar and range of alcohol is excellent (as you would expect) - as is the service.

Definitely one of my favourite bars to date. Every time I visit Melbourne, I go here. The cocktails are always 10/10 and the food is delicious no matter what’s on the menu. The most recent visit, I had the lamington cocktail and it was sooo good. The views and ambiance is memorable. Can’t wait to come back in a few weeks! We visited this place because I heard it was the best rooftop bar in the city. I am glad we did. It has a great view of the city from 55 levels above the ground. Drinks were great, the staff was accommodating. Make sure to step out to the balcony for a different view of the city. It reminded me one of the rooftop bars from New York City. A great date night spot!

Amazing view of the city and bay. We were there on a rainy day and it’s still an excellent experience, with a very different feel of the view. 5 stars for the spectacular view only. Cocktails are ok, nothing out of this world the signature gin cocktail tasted like a flat lemonade and gin which was disappointing as couldn't taste the grapefruit or eucalyptus notes it supposedly had. The vodka pour over was fun to watch and was a very nice take on an espresso martini. Good quality ingredients. Down side is the wait to get up there and the lack of service, once served it all moves very slowly. Would come back for the view only and settle on a glass of wine next time.

Firstly... The view is great as you would expect 55 floors up. But... the ambience could be better. There was no music (not even background). We were there at dusk on a rainy day and the lighting had no warmth. They made us stand when we arrived when there were free seats at the bar. We had to ask before they let us sit. The small outdoor area (yes you can smoke) has bench seats and a great view. Drinks are at upmarket cocktail bar prices as you would expect but they have some nice options. Will maybe give it a second chance when the sun is out or on a clear night warm night.

One of the finest rooftop bar with spectacular Melbourne’s highest view. Big ticket for food and drinks. I recommend this place if you are going on first date or taking out your friend. Chicken wings with beer or IPA ale. Most interesting part is within a minute you can witness the change in weather result as zero visibility. Excellent customer service!

Best view ever! This is my go-to place to take overseas or interstate guests. We started off with a champagne and progressed onto cocktails. I had the Lola cocktail which is gin w strawberry, sparkling and rose but it wasn’t very sparkly, it did taste nice though. The food was very good as well, we had the crab hot dog 🌭 , chickpea chips,cheese platter, chicken wings and yumgasmic Nutella donuts 🍩 which was delish! Very good price for the views we got.

Lui Bar has a chill, relaxed and expensive atmosphere. It is surprisingly dark but manageable. The darkness inside the room really draws the magnificent view in especially at night. Make sure when you walk in, request for a window seat. I had the 3 course meal with house wine pairing for a decent $140. ($90+$40). It was valentine's day so we got a heart shaped chocolate desert. Middle Couches are a bit odd as you can't really sit up which makes eating a bit annoying. Liu bar doesn't take bookings and does walk ins only. Skip the queue by coming a bit later (1am-2am). Impressive first date idea that doesn't cost an arm and a leg even though it looks like it.

Great views from the CBD! When you enter the building, it's quite a process to get to the actual bar floor. Someone has to give you permission (same when you leave). There's a nice atmosphere here. Great outdoor viewing platform with glass to protect from wind. Drinks were very expensive but it was a nice thing to cross of the list.

Such an unique experience to be escorted by the staff from the lobby to the 55th floor of Rialto building (previously tallest building in Melbourne!) I loved classy and sophisticated deco and knowledgeable staff on site - not to mention, a great selection of whisky and cocktails. We had to wait around a bit to get the window seats but boy was it worth it. Although drinks were slightly more expensive than usual, considering the spectacular view of the city, it was definitely worth it. A perfect venue for a fancy date night!

There’s now a $100 minimum which is not a nice expectation on arrival. The girl taking us up to the lift wasn’t friendly. We spent over this threshold and always would have, but it didn’t feel good as we “had to” spend that to stay. Service was slow even though it was quiet - 15 mins to get first drink. Pinot for $18 a glass was terrible, would expect much better quality for that! Tasted like a bad Shiraz. The view is amazing - 5 stars for that! Everything else needs to improve rapidly. You can’t rely on the view especially when there’s a $100 min spend for 2 people.

Got here in the afternoon and made it straight up to window seats on level 55 with no queue. Impressive all round in terms of drinks, service and bar design. No other Melbourne bar can compete with the view here! Priced reasonably too with snacks around $15 and cocktails averaging around $20. Except for a few Diageo rare releases (Brora 35 and Port Ellen) the whisky selection was poorer than other CBD cocktail bars. Go for the signature drinks for a safe and unique option.

A great bar to go for drinks and a great view. When you arrive you register at the reception downstairs. They will tell you to take a seat them then will take you to the lift and send you to level 55 (there is no button for this level in the lift so you can't sneak past and do it yourself). The drinks are a little bit more expensive than a standard bar but it's worth it if you want to enjoy the view. The view faces towards Southbank and Port Melbourne.

Bit of a language barrier with one of the staff who misunderstood our drink order. Another staff member seemed quite territorial over her section as she scolded the bartender for taking our food order so not great cohesion on the floor. Drinks are a bit pricey and they emphasise when you leave about the tip. The service was poor and detracted from our experience so I didn't leave a tip. On the plus side it's a beautiful view, I would still recommend going just for the view but don't expect great service.

Overall the experience was good. The bar is located at the 55th floor (the highest bar in Melbourne) and you will have a stunning view of the city. I recommend during sunset. The bar open only at 17 and you have to wear casual elegant(no short, no flip-flop, no cap). You will have probably to wait a little since the bar has districted seats and people usually will stay there a lot,thanks for the view. During the weekends the wait time can be even an hour. Price of cocktail are not bad, like average price for Melbourne 20ish $ each, just the wine is expensive since is everything imported from abroad(French,Italy ecc..) anyway is a must to do in Melbourne. And you also save 20$ instead of going to the eureka skydeck which offer basically the same view but without booze.

At Lui Bar you'll see some of the best views of Melbourne that there is. It's very pretty at night, although you may have to wait about half an hour or more to go up if it's busy (which it usually is). Lui Bar is a very classy yet relaxing atmosphere. I just don't find the cocktail menu that appealing, but it's probably just not to my taste. Staff are friendly but if you go early when it's quiet, they chat quite loudly together but they're very professional when serving. I'd recommend to take visitors to Melbourne due to the great views of the city.

Lui bar... What can be said about such a wonderful venue. I dined at View Du Monde in 2019. The dining experience for me was as close to perfection as one can find here in Melbourne. But I arrived early and opted to get stuck into a few pre dinner drinks at Lui Bar. I made a point of returning there just for the atmosphere and drink menus. As of May 2021, I have tried a variety of cocktails and some of the more traditional offerings on hand. I am partial to a dirty vodka martini with a polish spirit or an American Tito vodka. But last time I was there I fell in love with an old fashioned, (no pun intended). The citrus notes just make that bourbon sing in my mouth then the part continues down the back of my throat. Expect a moody ambiance and staff that are attentive but not overbearing. No booking is necessary and perfect for a pre drink event with a spectacular view of our long suffering, but beautiful COVID normal Melbourne town!!

Lui Bar is one of those once off experiences. The views are obviously amazing, but the venue itself is a little overhyped. The decor is okay but a little bland and of course the price is matching the views, you can definitely get a great cocktail elsewhere without the necessary dress code or price tag attached.

First you make customers wait downstairs, told that we'll be brought up once a table is ready, then we go up and are put on a waiting list for a table.. which in our case took a good 40 minutes. I understand it's busy but please be upfront with your customers!

Great view and fantastic food and drinks with an extensive cocktail menu. But service lets this bar down significantly. I took a cousin who was out from overseas. We ordered two cocktails and two snack dishes. One snack came out immediately with the drinks the second came out over half an hour later after I asked twice where it was. No apology from the staff at any point. Staff talk amongst themselves and completely ignore their customers. Definitely no eye contact. Overall a disappointing experience.

From the famous chef Shannon this chic bar is located in Rialto tower and this is sure to impress. View from the top, of the city is spectacular in cold winters. Cocktails are different from the famous ones. Ordered chickpea fries which was not as good as expected. You might need to wait a bit on weekends as it's not a huge sitting place. What a nice view from the Lui Bar! This place is amazing and has a great atmosphere to it. We waited at the bar until a window seat had opened up. It does get busy so make sure you get there early and/or are ready to wait for a premium spot to sit. The drinks are pricey but quite good, go for one of their specialty cocktails from their historic drinks menu (I believe that was what it was called).

Went here on a Saturday evening a little after 6 in evening. Waited for 10 min to get in the elevator, and about 20 min at the bar until we got a window seat. Posh but laid-back atmosphere with unexpectedly friendly staff, passionately explaining the workings of their own version of a espresso martini (though interesting, the original is better) and their vacuum based distillery equipment (cool gadget on the bar). View is spectacular, worth checking out the balcony. It is expensive but worth the experience.

The only gripe I have is with the very elitist attitude of the downstairs staff, making people wait to possibly not go up despite there being plenty of room. Would be a lovely venue for a romantic drink or a business discussion, as it is very exclusive. Good to come for the view and the cocktails are well made. Came in July and it was great. Came recently to show my family some of Melbourne and was disappointed. Asked to wait downstairs for a table to become free.. but after finally being let up there were a lot of empty seats/tables. The now apparent lack of dress code spoiled the atmosphere and the waiter service and knowledge of the drinks list was not great this time. Disappointing 2nd visit.

A very easy 5 stars. The cocktails are impressive, and whilst not a full menu for food, the options are a good accompaniment. It's a very inviting and stylish space and the wait staff are friendly and attentive. The view of course, is the real thing to behold.

Extremely friendly staff. My girlfriend and I arrived and the welcome was warm and friendly. We sat down, and after we got our drinks, I took an arrow to the knee and my girlfriend started crying. When the manager came to see what was the problem, she saw the ring and I told her that I've just proposed to my girlfriend, and she freaked out. Immediately, she brought champagne and two glasses to celebrate. For what is worth, I truly believe that her happiness for us was genuine. The other reviewers mentioned impolite staff, but all the staff were incredibly polite and friendly, I suspect during busy hours it may get hectic, therefore I would recommend going during a less busy hours. I insisted she ask anyway and add a espresso martini to the order of the outstanding JD and coke. The martini was served but again no JD with a comment that the "bartender is very angry with (her)". Hi ‘The Lui Bar’, Look I wasn’t planning on ever coming to your venue but after reading reviews I sense that patronage of Lui is compulsory. From what I have gathered from pouring over a multitude of reviews: citizens, particularly on their birthdays, are rounded up and then forced to line up for up to 35 minutes (even though they were told 15-20 WHAT A BETRAYAL). Once inside The Lui Machine they are compelled to consume food and drinks that they have no say on when these perishables arrive. Instead the arrival the menu items is dicatated by the capacity of the venue’s hospitality professionals to prepare and deliver. UNHEARD OF! Despite suffering vertigo and having zero interest in getting changed out of my tracksuit pants I have accepted that, with the same inexorable force Winter’s cold suck’s the life from the Summertime’s resplendence, I will one day have to endure ‘Lui’. Until that day comes I can only hope that those forced to actively seek the venue out, be told it is up to a 55 minute wait to secure a booking but still choose to remain in the line, have the strength to endure the injustice that venue clearly stretched to capacity may forget to fill up your water glass, survive this ordeal that any free citizen would simply walk away from if the experience did not immediately live up to expectations. #Struggleisreal
