Great atmosphere and a delicious range of cocktails and upmarket tacos. The service was attentive and friendly while not being intrusive (pet hate of mine) Food was served thick and fast without delay and servings were just right. Cocktails were delicious with attention to detail. Don't be put off by the website's lack of menu options, there were many more and the vegetarian offerings were delicious. I'm not vego but they delivered in the taste department! my accomplice was even swayed to try the Rockling fish tacos and I think she might be converted!

Bartender greeted us warmly as soon as we walked through the door. He was attentive to us the entire night and made sure we felt satisfied. Atmosphere was nice and cosy, and our drinks were delicious. Will definitely come back again.

Celebrated my friends birthday yesterday with an amazing bottomless brunch at Mess Verde 😍 — They do a bottomless lunch for $65 pp which includes a range of different Mexican cocktails including palomas, bhatangas (which were my fave which was coke, tequila, lime and a spicy rim), prosecco and beer 🍻 — The food menu included, tostadas with guacamole, corn esquires, two tacos of your choice, and a quesadilla each — The food was unreallllll and so authentic! We loved every single minute of it! My fave probably being the quesadilla which I don’t have a pic of sorry cause I was too excited to eat it 🙈. Our waitress was incredibly lovely and went out of her way to provide such amazing service. Not to mention all the staff were amazing. I will definitely be coming back here, the decor, food and service was an 11/10 ⭐️

Outstanding food and drinks in a vibrant eclectic atmosphere. Wait staff were brilliant, there when needed but not intrusive. Where do I start with the food?? Amazing starters to whet the appetite then tacos, pork shoulder and ox tongue were favourites but the grilled corn was also great and you can't go past the ceviche. Mains of King fish collar and lamb ribs were superb and what about the drinks!!!!! Best Margarita ever then a melon infused tequila then Sangria to go with the food. Would not usually have a dessert but could not resist the sound of the Mexican doughnuts with Dulce De leche.... OMG what a way to end an absolutely outstanding meal. Our new favourite restaurant, we'll be back soon

Maybe the best modern mexican I've had in Australia. Great low key vibe in Curtin House (use the lift), super helpful bar staff, suggest you get some flights so you can taste lots of diff mezcal, tequila without overdoing it. Food was amazing, everything was delish. Cashew mole killed it. Will be back to try some more.

Stopped in for a quick drink while wandering around the city. It was busy, but we were quickly seated and given a debrief of the drinks menu. The have plenty of cocktails and range of great local IPAs on tap. They have some lovely Mexican beers available too. I loved the old film posters on the walls and the wooden interior. You walk in the door, you see the menu, you see the drinks selections.. Neither of these things let you down. Your tastebuds WILL be in absolute heaven. Inspired cocktails, decadent food. A must-try for the Mexican food lover.

Absolutely blown away by the calibre of the food and the service. The staff are just legends. Tried to book online 8pm Friday for immediate walk in, nothing available, messaged via Google Maps, Grant said to come on up. From the moment we walked in, being greeted by Adam; the service, drinks and food were spectacular. Good value for money too. Would give 10 stars if I could. Looking forward to coming back. P.S lamb ribs, guacamole & chips, and pork tacos were the three favourites, and for drinks, Tommy's margarita, and Ghost Face killa if u can handle it spicy!

Food here was top notch, authentic Mexican, the first place I've found in Aus that transported me to the delightful tastes served up in NYC. The beverage list alone has me keen to come back and the vibe, decor and atmosphere places Mesa Verde high on my list as one of few places I've found that could easily have been in the villages of NYC. Enjoyed the degustation and was not at all disappointed. The servings are generous so definitely come hungry! Authentic ingredients, layers and depths of flavour that I associate and expect from good Mexican cuisine and knowledgeable and friendly staff made for a really wonderful experience. Basically nothing but love for this place!

In vintage Curtin House lies this cavernous Mexican tapas eatery and bar with a pumping vibe. We chose a range of tacos, quesadilla and sides with enough room left for dessert. The highlight was the bite size donuts with chocolate sauce and sprinkled nuts. Helpful and attentive service and a lively atmosphere - good for drinks and a few bites.

Very cool Mexican dining located on level 6 of Curtin House. A lively tequila and mezcal bar. I tied the bruxo mezcal no. 2 from Oaxaca on the rocks. Smooth rounded. Slightly smoky and salty. Great tacos and tostadas. Friendly staff and a kitchen that’s open late at night. Recommended.

Bottomless brunch was so fun! We were all running bit behind and they were totally cool to start 45min late when we all arrived. The food was delish and drinks free flowing. They keep it in check by having a one drink at a time policy but that wasn’t an issue as the staff, apart from one grumpy girl, were amazing. Definitely recommended.

We liked the atmosphere and the service was quite pleasing. Most drinks seemed okay -- price was reasonable considering the location. However, I would strongly caution against ordering the 'Something with Mango' cocktail -- perhaps one of the worst concoctions I have had the unique displeasure of tasting. Amongst our party of six, five agreed strongly that this was the case. Tasted nothing like mango and the flavour could be described as nothing short of burning and unpleasant.

We usually go to Curtin House for drinks on sunny evenings but decided to try out Mesa Verde for its fare and we were not disappointed. Quick and friendly service with food that's lipsmacking enough for me not to have had time to click pictures! I know it's non alcoholic and you're probably looking to suck down a margarita or two but the jalapeno soda is a remarkably fresh drink!

A great place to get a drink (they also do light foods when I went there at 9pm, but I didn't have any. We visited Mesa Verde with a big group ( 16 peeps ) on the 12th December and had an absolute ball. I cannot fault the service, we used the q codes which was so easy and our drinks arrived within minutes of ordering. Food was absolutely delish, and great for a group. We had a few vegetarians who were VERY well looked after with the menu. Service was phenomenal, staff were so helpful and efficient and did it all with a smile. Our entire group left saying it was the best Christmas catch up venue we've been to. Thanks so much mesa crew, well done managing the ever changing covid rules so seamlessly. We will def be back!

The tequila selection at Mesa Verde was amazing would definitely go back for the tequila. As for the food, the food was tasty, however I didn’t feel like anything on the menu really jumped out at me that made me really want to eat it. If you want to try Mexican with a twist this would be the place.

Great food and great cocktails. I've been here plenty of times for drinks and it's been great. Went here for dinner today with some friends and ordered almost everything on the menu. Very tasty and everything was about a 8/10. The fried chicken was a highlight along with the collection of old fashion type drinks. Recommend for boozy dinner and/or cocktail night with friends.

Staff here were really helpful with working out how to accomodate for dietary requirements. Food was full of flavour and I enjoyed every dish I tried. If you like food with a kick, it’s a great place to go. Perfect for sharing with a group. Left me wanting more. First time we were allowed to be seated and order from the bar, was very pleasant and very enjoyable. Second time, asked for a shot of tequila with lime and salt, was declined and said they could give me their house chaser. As a fair few of us can agree, I smelled the chaser and realised straight away it was coriander/cilantro based, yuck! Tried to get up to few the beers as we weren’t given a beer list, ushered back to the table unable to few the selection. Felt quite reigned in as if we were sheep in a paddock. Lack of service even with the ushering. I didn’t get a chance to try the food as I was quite put off, however I’m sure it would be pretty darn great!

I can't even begin. Everytime we come here I can't even get a picture of the food it's so amazing. Fave Mexican place in the city. My partner loves it and I organised to come here for Valentine's Day and it was the best decision. Okay yes, it's on the 6th floor and the lift only fits 6 people at a time and is about as slow as a crippled grandpa collecting his mail, but the stairs mean you get to work for your food. Definately recommend a reservation as it's pretty packed, but sometimes you can do without. The menu always changes, so try everything while you can, because we sure do. The bar staff is also amazing, I don't do tequila (I'm a wine person) but my partner really does and always gets great recommendations. Also, if you don't like tequila, try the verdita anyway. It's the green Bloody Mary-like drink that comes with tequila flights and it is beautiful. 12/10

We dined here a few weeks ago, and had a really nice meal. Ordered an assortment of tacos which were really tasty and their blood orange sorbet with mint was really nice. We went on a Sunday, late afternoon so it wasn't super busy. Service and ambience both great, would recommend a visit if you're in the area.

We went at 6:30 on a Friday evening and it was crazy loud! My friend and I both left with sore throats from trying to shout over the music in the restaurant area. This is not a good place to go if you want to catch up or chat or if you have sensory issues. The food was excellent, though.

Located in the historic Curtain House building on Swanston Street, close to trams and parking is easily located on the side streets, this 6 level building has a ambiance like no other. So take the lift or the 7 flights of stairs to the top level, and arrive at this Mexican eatery with candle lit tables, and courteous staff, the margaritas are spectacular and the best i have had also I recommend their sangria as well, great for a romantic night or catch up with friends, the food is good there are some different combos that I wasn't into, but mostly great. Staff are helpful and speedy and already happy to help with recommendations ie: Chefs Choice Platter on the menu Please check out this eatery you won't regret it.

Delicious tasting Mexican food, I wouldn't fault the quality. All credit to the chefs, what food did arrive to the table was delicious. The pricing, however, is not proportional to the serving sizes, e.g. $19 for a very small glass of house margerita (a half-full champagne saucer). Even by Melbourne CBD cocktail standards, that's really stretching the friendship, and Mesa Verde is no white linen fine-dining establishment. The "chef's selection" degustation ($55 per person) was less than generous. Some corn chips with guacamole. Approx 1 tablespoonful of ceviche and corn esquites between each person. Approx 3 small, tasty little soft tacos. Two thirds of a churro per person for dessert. With the benefit of hindsight, we'd have been far better served just ordering mains instead. Our group of 12 finished the meal with a firm consensus still feeling very hungry. (A comment to this effect was made to the server and some complimentary pieces of quesedilla appeared at the table. A nice gesture, but avoidable if servings provided were of normal/appropriate size.) I note other reviewers have shared similar sentiments; perhaps as these comments accumulate management may choose to address these concerns. Although I personally wouldn't make Mesa Verde a regular haunt, I'm sure many would enjoy it for a one-time visit if in the city.

Went for dinner with a friend after an afternoon at rooftop, and we were greeted by our wonderful host Torie, who was so friendly, helpful, gracious and welcoming. We asked advice on what to order and she was great at suggesting dishes and catering for dietary needs. Fish taco and fries were delicious, and my friend thoroughly enjoyed the black bean taco. Also had the ghostface killah margarita by suggestion of Torie and it was an exceptional blend of smoke, spice, and mescal.
