We had Caviar with Toast and Creme Fraiche (Ars Italica Osietra 30g), Buratta with Eggplant Carpaccio and Grilled Bread, Whole Grilled King Prawns with Herb Butter, Potato and Cabbage Gratin, Scotch Fillet and Rib Eye on the Bone 400g 61 days. The service was immaculate and the meat was absolutely divine. Probably the best I've ever had. Highly recommend and worth the price.

An expensive yet excellent experience. The venue ooses comfortable class from the moment of entry. The table service was friendly and efficient. The steaks were tender and cooked as ordered. The sides were beautifully presented. The drinks list is extensive. The wines range from reasonable prices to obscene with good selections from many wine countries and regions. A great experience.

Would be a meat lover’s paradise but for a seafood lover like me it was mixed feelings :)
Can’t beat the amazing ambience, presentation was always top notch.
We got the kingfish crudo which was beautiful ( tangy and fresh!), oysters, octopus ( & hummus) which was an interestingly yummy combo. For mains, we did the mussel and saffron stew with grilled seafood (amazing flavours but left me craving for more actual soup), and a medium rare fillet Mignon with bernaise sauce which was fantastic to say the least!
Their rice pudding dessert though was hands down their best dish!!! It honestly was a meal of dreams! Chocolate mousse was quite nice with a good crunch.
FYI service was quite poor for the money, but I take pity at the server being quite busy.

Amazing food, amazing service and food is reasonably priced for the quality. The staff make your experience extra special and the advice they give for matching wines and alcohol was spot on.
If your looking for the best dishes and drink selection ask the lovely wait staff their recommendations you will not regret it.
We also went with four guests, they allowed us to share all the food so we got to try a variety of dishes and all were flawless. We will definitely be returning again, highly recommend 👍

One of our favourite places in Melbourne. Amazing ambiance.
Delicious food and the team is always welcoming.

The food was nice, a lot of gristle in my 80 month steak, but still nice. The Mac and cheese was great but it took us two hours for the main course to arrive and someone had to leave and cancel their order it was taking so long. Staff were clearly trying their best but and I think it was just a bad day. Still a frustrating experience given we spent over $900. This was last Friday. Other than that the decor is cool, love all the cows on the back of the menu. The Mac and cheese was insanely good as well. Overall we spent about 3 hours when really expecting to only spend half that.

Tbone - Eye Fillet - Mac and Cheese - Mixed Greens - Garlic and Rosemary Potatoes
Another front runner in the Steak category for me is this classic restaurant. Perfect for date night, we visited on our (belated) Valentine’s Day. The menu changes daily and the service is 5 star. I salivate just thinking about these steaks, cooked to perfection, full of flavour and doesn’t require any sauce at all. I recommend the Mac and Cheese, and you absolutely cannot leave without ordering their Pavlova dessert, it is one of my all time favourites!

Best restaurant in Melbourne. Always impressed with Rockpool they have never let me down. Although pricey you certainly get what you pay for. Awesome location as well. I always look forward to an outing here

Nice atmosphere. We had a good view of the kitchen which is always an interesting watch. Helpful staff who were sure to let us know if we accidentally selected anything that wasn't gluten free (we are both gluten intolerant). Food was lovely but perhaps the steak a bit oversalted for us... might just be down to personal preference.
C.
Very pleasant experience, the staff were great as were the meals.

Good customer service, place to have company Christmas Party

Classy, sophisticated restaurant, smart casual or formal wear seems to be the clientele...How about the food??.Best quality steaks for the true coniseuer ...I'm an active critic, definately in the Top 3 steaks enjoyed nationally. Pricey... you get what you pay for, however wish it was cheaper...great restaurant..8.5 out of 10.
l.
Beautiful ambience, Eye fillet and Sirloin on the bone were perfectly cooked medium rare with 3 difference condiments and 2 sauces to top ! The Wagu Bolognaise fettuccine a delicious healthy treat for kids and the Best Mac and cheese in town ! Of the Beetroot and goats cheese salad wonderful side

Our waiter awesome, the person that seated us awesome. The wine waiter bad attitude when I told her the wine was for my wife and that I don't drink she snatched the glass from in front of me and walked off with a huff totally unnecessary. The food was awesome I had calamari and aged steak from a 5 year old fresian cow. Not cheap my bill including tip was $500 for 2 but almost everything was perfect. We were lucky as we weren't served but miss grumpy again that was a good thing but that's why I didn't give 5 stars
F. Q.
I had a great experience dining here on March to celebrate my 2nd anniversary with my bf. We got to try lobster omelette, wagyu beef pasta, aged rib eye steak and chocolate dessert.
The staff service was amazing. They’re very attentive, friendly, proactive in suggesting the dishes, and had an extensive knowledge of all the dishes as well.
10/10 would recommend for anyone to come here for a great fine dining experience, great food and excellent service.
B. C.
Service was great, we both ordered T-bone steaks with two side dishes. Steak was a bit chewing but taste good. I wish staff would inform me how big the side dish was. We didn’t need to order two coz 500g steak was enough for each of us. It’s good to experience once in this famous restaurant once but not too often.

I have visited Rockpool Melbourne a few times. Each time I have enjoyed my food. I would have scored the restaurant 4.5 stars if I could.
On this visit I ordered the 60 month aged rib eye on the bone. The meat was amazing; succulent, cooked perfectly and so much flavour. I don't think you could go there and not order meat. The sides were good but didn't excite me. The macaroni and cheese wasn't as good as it was pre-covid when I tried it first. They were all good sides with quality ingredients but something special was missing for me. I had the calamari for entree which I enjoyed.
The service was very good and everyone was friendly. We ended up spending $200 per person which included a half bottle of wine and no dessert.
D. H.
One of the best meals I ever than, it has been more than 10 years and still unforgettable. The have aged beef and seafood too. You must try at least once in a lifetime, Reservations are required.
Q. S.
One of the best places for steaks in Melbourne. You do t even need to cut the meat, it falls apart when you gently prod it with your knife. Cannot reccomend enough!
C. M.
Great steak, deep somkey flavour from the grill and an extensive wine list.
Tge geserts finished off an excellent experience
A. M.
What an amazing experience. I came here with my partner and sister to experience what it was like to go to a 2-hat restaurant, and I was floored. The knowledge and description of the wines and foods made me realise we were in for something special. We ate and drank some of the best food and wine that rockpool has to offer and loved every minute of it all. It's a pricey place, but you definitely get your money's worth from it all. Fantastic experience, would recommend it to anyone having a special night with a special someone
E. L.
Great food. Servings are generous - starters are huge, sides are larger than expected. The lamb cutlets and steak was excellent. Macaroni and cheese is one of the best I've had.
C. B.
Wonderful dining experience -
"Food was tremendous - filet had the best char/bark of any steak I've ever had - wonderful. Wait staff were gorgeous - warm, welcoming and amiable. We asked for the risotto to share as a starter and it was brought out on two plates - little details like that mean a lot. We were given some caramel popcorn as we left - perfect service. Will be back soon."
R. R.
My number 1 favourite restaurant.
I love this place. The best quality food and service. You cannot find a better steak anywhere. The dimly lit atmosphere is luxurious and romantic. An absolute experience every single time.
E. M.
Nice place with great location. Service was quite good and very friendly staff. Unfortunately the beef was not so good... considering the price I was expecting a soft and delicious piece of meat. Entrees were quite delicious though.
B. Y.
Had our anniversary dinner at this lovely fine dining restaurant, super delicious seafood and perfectly cooked. The dry aged steak we ordered wasn't stored long enough though. It's good overall.
P. B.
Excellent as always but doesn't come cheap. Dry aged scotch fillet steak sauted mushrooms and thick cut fries. Washed down with a glass of Shiraz ($25). 10% extra on Sundays.
P. B.
Always a great venue. We had a business lunch here on Thursday and although the restaurant was full, you would never know it as it always felt like we had personal staff just waiting on us. Three course lunch, four hours; perfect.
R. _.
One of the best steaks I have every had and the sides are amazing..Worth every dollar and the service is first class.
J. G.
Disappointing on so many levels. The restaurant was very busy and it looked like the staff were having to squeeze in an extra table turn during the lunch service. Two of our servers were new and under training (no problem, everyone needs to learn), but the experienced staff member looked tired and harried.
We ordered five steaks and were told they would take forty minutes. The mains were much faster but four of the steaks were underdone and the T-Bone was unevenly cooked. The meat quality was mediocre at best.
The four shared starters were all excellent, and the sides were delicious, but it all felt rushed.
The last surprise of the afternoon was that 4 glasses of water were charged at AU$ 42.00. I'd recommend that you be very, very clear and order tap water on arrival.
A. W.
If you haven't been, you must at least once in your life and forget the cost factor because it's all about the experience and service you get along with the amazing food selections and the best Dry aged steak ever. Seriously just go do it.
Medium rare is best and the flavors from the steak is like no other, truly shocked how good ity is.
Have visited 3 times now and even bought the $115 550g Grain fed steak. Was awesome and juicy.
T. M.
Always a great dining experience at Rockpool! Oysters are out of this world. Some of the freshest oysters in melbourne for sure. Get the Sydney rock variety, it’s amazing how the different bays in such close proximity produce such different tastes.
The steaks are fantastic, done to perfection every time! The Mac and cheese is a great side too.
The wine selection also goes on forever. They have great reds!
K. H.
Outstanding dinner from start to finish. Had the duck and fennel ragu pappardelle and it was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. My wife had the waygu bolognese which wasn't quite as good, but still great overall. The scallop appetizer was tasty too. Every staff member we interacted with was professional and friendly. Great experience here and would recommend to anybody.
E. R.
Simply a pleasant meal and lovely service. It’s always nice to enjoy a special meal at your joint. I appreciate the dim lighting and high ceilings which mask a lot of the noise. It’s wonderful to be able to eat and talk at the same time without leaving with a headache! The waghu middle rare just melts in your mouth. Just a beautiful place to enjoy a top quality serve of meat.
J. K.
Rockpool. The famous Rockpool. Walked by it hundreds of times on my lunchtime walks but hadn't been inside... until now.
Ryan was moving on and had pestered the boss man from day dot to bring us here. He finally caved and let us go.
Let me tell ya Sheryl, it's as fancypants as everyone says it is. They even had the snobby sommelier with the perpetually stuffed nose pour us wine. Their food though... talk about a divine experience!
Now when you pay $65 for a 250 gram rib eye that had been aged for like a million years, it'd better be good. Oh, it was good alright. At the boundary between rare and medium rare, it was delish. We had sides of mac and cheese with extra fancy, onion rings, creamed corn, which was like luxury baby food but in a good way amongst others.
In a moment of madness, Ryan got the crab as a main. He called it "strange". Oh well, his loss. He was expecting a whole bloody crab on his place. Nope, it had been deshelled for him.
Anywho, for entrees, drinks, mains and five sides it was $497 for four adults, which isn't as expensive as you'd think. If I can guilt trip the boss to take us back, I'd definitely go back.
H. j.
Service and atmosphere is very good but my steak was cold and over cooked
J. C.
Was my first visit to any of the Rockpool restaurants and couldn’t get a booking but were told if we came early in the evening there’s always tables near the bar (which we did and we got). I had oysters for entree and for main - steak and it was out-of-this-world crazy good, defiantly worth the extra money for the good pieces. The portion size was big too. I can’t remember the name of the desert but it was beautiful and I posted a photo. Only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the service left a little to be desired especially in such a high end restaurant - the servers didn’t bring my wine that was ordered before entree until my steak was pretty much finished. I will visit again though!
P. F.
My #1 steak restaurant. I've never had a better steak than here. You don't even need a sauce as the meet is so delicious! And the burger is phenomenal! Prices are sky high but reflective of the quality of the meet. The chips and onion rings (which I usually don't like), are great too. The service is amazing and very attentive. They provide good suggestions too so ask them for guidance.
J. H.
Fantastic Steak and experience all round. This is a must try for anyone that likes a good steak. Don’t settle for just the bottom level steak, go all out, it’s 100% worth it. This is by far my favourite restaurant!
R. C. (.
The food was divine. Whilst the entrees were quite small for the premium price charged, the main meals and recommended wines were to die for.
D. W.
The food and the service is pretty delicious, which you would expect for the prices. It was about $35 for a starter (I had prawns) and a main (steak) about $70 then sides (chips, asparagus etc) range from $12-$27. Desserts were $23 each. I have to say the steak was absolutely delicious I went for the scotch fillet 36 days matured. Food aside I have to say I wasn’t a fan of the setting, the lighting is so low in there so by the time you finish your meal you’re absolutely exhausted and ready for bed!
V. M.
Best steak I have ever had 🍴 Service is top-notch, will come back definitely!
s. h.
Always fantastic, blackmores rib eye, mushrooms and russetts are mind blowing. Best starter by far....goats cheese tortellini with prawns.... Outstanding!!!!!
M. T.
One of our favorites places. So consistently good, since the day it opened. Best place for steak and dessert 😉
J. H.
The wait staff was excellent Food superb Sous Chef Connor is a brilliant chef delivering exceptional dishesThe whole experience and ambience was simply 5 star
H. T.
Great place and ambiance. Service is excellent, knowledgeable and helpful. Their top of the line sirloin steak marble 9 is absolutely amazing. Lots choices for quality of steak, so there's a price range for everybody.
A. S.
If you're in the mood for a steak to die for, and an upscale experience to match, go no further. Their staff and service is amazing, usually making no errors and paying attention to you.
The reason I cannot give them 5 starts at this point, is the last time my husband and I were there, for our first wedding anniversary, they poured our $110 bottle of wine to another table, however the bottle was still charged at full price to us. I acknowledge they apologised profusely, and added some free deserts for us, but it took the magic away from the experience. It shall teach me to be mindful the next time I go there.
Please don't let this minor issue I experienced stop you from choosing this restaurant though! It is not something to be missed, especially for a special occasion.
M. Y.
Great service and atmosphere, food was high quality and tasty, however there are arguably better value for money restaurants in Melbourne to eat at.
N. C.
The service was fantastic and the food was to die for!
My family and I went here for my mum’s 60th and were treated to great food and even better wine.
The waiting staff were extremely helpful and did everything they could to make our experience as good as it was
F.
Food over priced for the quality and some dishes over rich and not well balanced. Diners were seated very close together while the majority/large areas of the restaurant were unused.
S. I.
5 Star Service, 5 Star quality of Food and coming from the Hospitality Industry I must say the price you pay for is 100% worth it.
The food were served in the right quantity, temp and indeed your tastebuds would be jumping in joy 👌🏻 I loved my grilled prawns! Actually from our appetizer, to man dish and dessert 😍
V. L.
Food, service, everything was on point. Pricy but great as a once in a while treat. Keep in mind portion size are big!! We ordered too much and was bursting out of our clothes after the meal. Lol
A.
Been for dinner on multiple occasions, always delivers! Menu rocks and the staff are professional and polite.
E. T.
Always have a lovely dinner here. I love being able to see the chef cook and seeing the meat hanging is nice when you walk in. The food and service is always amazing. Just make sure you book.
K. T.
6.10.2017: my server is quite detail oriented, i appreciate her service, however, the time interval between dishes is kinda long, i wish they could have speeded up a bit coz i am really hungry, that makes me feel every dishes tastes good..
D. T.
The vegetables this time around was disappointing. Season greens, Brussel sprouts and onion rings. Still one of my favourite restaurant.
S. F.
Fantastic atmosphere
Steak cooked well and sides were all delicious. Food was all well seasoned
Service was good and wait time was reasonable
Cost was just over $100 a head
Would return
K.
From th moment you walk in until the moment you leave Rockpool it's amazing. Service is excellent and our waiter for the day was exceptional! The food as per usual was perfect, my tbone was amazing. And my little birthday cake was delicious. We'll be back 😊
T. C.
Good food, rude staff. If I’m paying so much for a fine dining experience, I expect the staff to be more polite. Nonetheless, this is somewhere I would still go for if I crave a hearty Mac and cheese or duck confit. The steak is delicious too, and my favourite dessert is the pavlova!
Try making a reservation in advance. The staff are not very attentive here, and they tend to act like you’re the one bothering them, but if you can get past that, you’re in for a good meal!
S. F.
The food cannot be faulted. The 200g wagyu sirlion was perfectly prepared. The potato cabbage gratin was wonderful. The absent star was due to the average duck and unpersonable wait staff. For the price, we expected to be blown away but weren't.
J. L.
Amazing food. Great service. Excellent vibe
P. R.
Excellent professional staff. Welcome on entry with immediate drink offering. All courses of food were to an excellent standard that you would expect with this type of cuisine.
N. A.
The food was very delicious, however a few of the wait staff and bar staff were a bit on the rude side.
Food-wise the steak was sensational, I had the Scotch fillet which was juicy and full of flavour.
c. w.
Quality of the food is awesome. Should always try the wagyu beef steak. Service is good but the response time was a little long as one staff seems to be responsible for 10+ customers.
N. P.
If I could give them a rating of 10 I would, I can’t fault them and I’ve been there so many times, all special occasions are celebrated at Rockpool for us and have been for about the last 3 years. Their goats cheese tortellini is a must for me and worth every cent
F. W.
Great night here with super service, thanks to Ben and his team especially Douglas and Ash. Exceptional seafood and a sublime Mishima sirloin steak 🥩.
H. B.
Amazing food!
I had the Spicy Mussel and Saffron Stew and was delicious!!
the mac & cheese is amazing too
A. D.
The best Creme Caramel 🍮 I’ve ever had! And the lamp ribbs with parmesan was so yummy, but it took so long to bring the food and served steaks with no sides and a small amount of sauce, which was a bumer!
T. H.
Very disappointed with the bar service. Low numbers, terrible service. Couldn't even get through 2 drinks each with over an hour before dinner. Dinner was good and food was good. Service in the restaurant was much better. But for the prices there was a lot to be desired largely based on service.
D. M.
My partner and I dined at Rockpool last night and have dined here in the past. With Rockpool's reputation and price point we expect the best and to be honest we were disappointed. My partner ordered the main size wagyu bolognaise fettuccine, which was incredibly small. We both thought that this was an entree size and my partner felt that a lower star rating than what I have scored was warranted due to this alone (I shared my meal with him). The couples seated either side of us seemed to be attended to constantly and were both offered a second serve of bread, which we were not. Their meals were delivered a lot quicker and the couple next to us, who ordered after we did, were served before us (the second couple arrived at a later time). We expected more from the side of duck fat potatoes. My eye fillet steak was delicious, however the bearnaise sauce that I ordered with it was clearly forgotten. When my meal was served I was offered other condiments and informed that the bearnaise was on its way, however I only received this after I was more than halfway through my meal and inquired, to which it then came out promptly. The creme caramel for dessert was tasty, however sharing plates were not even offered and it was a little messy to eat from the one plate. When we received the bill I was also disappointed to see we were charged an extra $18 for dining on a Sunday. We've been to many restaurants and, as stated earlier, particularly taking into consideration Rockpool's reputation, our positive experience in the past and the price point, we expected better than this and I'm afraid we won't be returning. I also feel that the follow up email that's sent after dining should contain more than merely just a star rating option, which is why I'm leaving this commentary here as well.
J. K.
Great experience, sides are reasonably priced and dry aged steaks are a must to have.
S. G.
5 stars for the service i received here last night..second to none! Very attentive staff and the waiters well-versed on the wine selection. The sleek decor and amorous atmosphere make it the perfect place for a date night. The only downside was the placement of the tables - as i felt we were seated very close to those on either side of us so that can make for an uncomfortable evening. However, it was a busy night and i believe there are more secluded areas within the restaurant. The last time i dined here was over a year ago and i couldn't fault a thing but i did find the food to be quite average this time around. Maybe hit and miss but pleasant and hospitable staff make all the difference and they willingly address any concerns diners may have so that is a plus for me!
S.
We went to Rockpool to celebrate our anniversary & as always it was an excellent experience.
The ambiance is moody & cozy with a lovely outlook over the city. We ordered 2 mains and 4 sides (too much for 2 people!!) and had plentiful drinks throughout our 2 hour dining experience. The service was impeccable even though they were busy. To top it off they delivered us a free desert in celebration of our anniversary which was an un-needed but incredibly welcome and kind gesture.
Obviously Rockpool is not somewhere you go for an every day meal, as such the cost is expensive - however well worth it.
A. A.
Steak to die for! Very $$$, didn't look overly pretty, but quality of the meat was so good... delicious!
M. S.
Absolutely beautiful food and great service well done keep up with the outstanding service.
A. D.
Rockpool is beautifully elegant and classy in every way. From the professional service, to the menu and food options. I'd definitely recommend a visit for a special occasion or date night.
We ordered the scotch fillet, rib eye, the russet potatoes, mushrooms and the mixed greens.
Both pieces of steak were cooked to perfection and the scotch fillet was particularly mouth watering. The potatoes were crunchy and could taste the duck fat which was delicious. The mushrooms were so tasty, probably my favourite side. The greens weren't too my tasting, they seemed a little old school but finished them alright anyway.
Will definitely be back next time to try some of the main plates - the combinations sound great!
C.
Excellent service, quality of dishes and range of wine & cocktails. Perfect venue for any formal occasion with family and friends, or a dinner date with my partner. Jenny our waitress showed knowledge to the menu and was able to make good recommendations to pair our food with wine. If you're into quality, mouth watering steak, I would highly recommend the wagyu t-bone.
M. Y.
Always one of our favourite restaurant to go! The ambience is always very welcoming and charming. Amazing wines, food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. Beautiful night!
p. d.
Maybe my italian heritage was expecting a bigger fettucini serve than possibly 90 grams but there you go. Main was delightful, crusty bread was delicious. Dessert was ample.
Nice ambient environment.

Following two years of very average product and service, today they returned to the former glory.. very glad to experience
T. D. L.
A delicious restaurant with a very cozy atmosphere, also crowded, impressed with the open kitchen.
D. C.
not the greatest steak i've had. Could def eat something much better for $80 a steak.
C. V.
Beautiful food. Great atmosphere and great service.
B. C.
Amazing seafood and steak. Nice service and good selections of beers and wines.
C. F.
Fine dining in stylish surrounds. Large servings and a considerable wine list.
Make sure you share the large sides, and don't eat too much of the bread you will want to keep some room.
ツ.
Service was excellent, food tasted really well and loved the atmosphere.
A. T.
Came here with my husband for dinner and we loved the atmosphere, the waitress was fantastic and super friendly. Our meals were lovely too. Will definitely go again.

Amazing food, great staff and a wonderful wine list
J. A.
Great ambience and service. Has a wide selection of wine and spirits. Dinner service is excellent (Thanks Charles). =)
D. D.
Love this place, absolute winner every time, never disappoints!

Rockpool is a beautiful set restaurant for intimately styled dining experiences. Is it worth the price tag thought? We started with three entrees between three people. All were really tasty but the portion sizes were very conservative, tiny even.
The raw tastes of the sea showcase quality seafood but plenty of other restaurants deliver the same standard for a lot less. Food is tasty but sizes are what you'd expect from a celebrity chef's establishment. I wasn't overwhelmed by the steak flavour but very impressed with the seafood mains. I'd splash out for a special occasion again definitely.
C. K.
Really good service and good quality food abit pricey but worth it on special occasions

A lovely space with plenty of wait staff. Food was delightful, wine served in Reidel stemware. Only criticism was that the noise level was too high. It was difficult to hear people at our table of four over the room noise.

Service is impeccable. Wine list is expansive. Food is terrific. A place for a special occasion. If you're visiting Melbourne, it's well worth making time to have dinner/lunch here. Can be pretty pricey if you're going all out.
M. P.
Possibly the best steak in Melbourne. Great staff. Quality food. Extensive wine list. Recommend.
R. E.
Great food..the sides are spectacular! Mac and cheese..oh dear. Amazing and I'm not normally a fan. Mushy peas too.
S. B.
Absolutely magnificent. Fine dining at it's best. Portion sizes huge and delicious. Good value
M. T.
Delicious food with great customer service would go again
S. V.
Food was good, but expected more. Dessert was awesome. Had the profiteroles.
R.
Good food good ambiance. Just a bit rude for the waitstaff to ask me if I know what a corned wagyu is and whether I have tried it before.
R. N.
Excellent ambience, service and food. Once in a lifetime experience! Been here last night and it has kept to its standard!
M. S.
Over priced very very average food. They talk their steak up on the menu and charge a lot but the steak was definitely not better than the $20 steak I had at the Black Stump hotel in Coolah I had the previous weekend. Maybe Neil's staff need to learn how to cook a memorable meal rather than just talk it up.
E. L.
Great ambience. Staff are well trained, mannered and presented. The food is exceptional and may well be the best steak I have ever eaten. Even the sides and entrees were unbelievable. Not much I can fault. As long as you are happy to get what you pay for I wouldn't go anywhere else for an amazing steak.
D. E.
We love this place. It's always consistent brilliant quality.
S. L.
Excellent pastas and steak. Highly recommend tbe rump cap.

I had a great meal with some oversea guests here. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. The food was awesome as you would expect from a restaurant of this standing. It was plentiful as well. We all had something different and rated each meal highly. The ambience of the setting made you feel like you were part of a small exclusive group not a large restaurant. Overall I highly recommend this place for a special night out.
K. L.
Having eaten here a few times with colleagues and family for dinner, it has been a pleasing atmosphere with friendly staff and great quality food. The only improvement I would suggest would be the lighting - I understand dim lighting sets a mood but each time we have dined here (sitting in different areas of the restaurant), it was difficult to see our own party's faces during a conversation! The portable lights on the dinner table (when adjusted) barely offer any difference. Aside from that, the food is incredible - particularly the oysters and the mac & cheese!

A nice looking restaurant but I feel like it’s popularity is more to do with Neil Perry’s celebrity rather than the quality of the meals.
Our mains were a steak and whiting. They were both quite salty and while not bad, they also didn’t meet expectations. Definitely not a bad experience but not worth the price.
M. S.
Went there on Sunday 9th February. Food is good but definitely overpriced. In the end it's a steak restaurant at fine dining price. I also don't like being charged 10% surcharge because I ate there on a Sunday. Most places don't apply this surcharge and I am pretty sure the staff working on Sunday doesn't get any extra. They also charge you for the sparkling water they make themselves. I find this outrageous. Finally, charging an extra fee for someone who didn't order a dessert but asked for an extra spoon is just ridiculously mean.
Not worth it. Shame as it could be a beautiful place. Instead just a money making eatery.
A. P.
Brilliant all around - service, food and wine.
S. I.
Place is very relaxing and beautiful inside, maybe a little too dark but it does add a romantic spark.
Food was beautiful, couldn't fault one thing. They even accommodated for my wants, giving me only sweet potato instead of having both sweet potato and pumpkin in my side. Tastes absolutely amazing.
The only thing I could critique was one of the servers, who forgot to come back to our table with the dessert menu and bill. However, I think she may have been new so I'd give her a pass.
Overall an absolute lovely experience. May be pricey but you honestly pay for what you get! :)
m. m.
reasonable price!
The pasta was so nice as well as T-bone 👍🏻but I think salad is a little expensive
D. A.
The service was what I had expected of a fine dining experience, the food on the other hand was a great disappointment. We ordered starter and main course. The main course pasta was a very minor size portion of average quality pasta, it was sticky and little better than takeaway. The steak had been sitting for a while and was a little cold. The potato chips were extremely average clearly not given the care one would expect. Overall a venue using it's name not its quality to maintain an A grade reputation.
P. C.
Beautiful produce. I've not had steak quite like it before. Great octopus, the chopped salad was light and delicious, and the tartare well balanced and creamy. The sommelier nailed the wine for my wife and I based on a few quick questions.
R. B.
One of the best meals of my life. My husband and I have travelled overseas, around Australia often for work and we like to treat ourselves when we are away. This restaurant is worth every penny. We had a grass fed steak and a grain fed with sides of potatoes and Mac and cheese. Absolutely phonomenal. The wait staff were above a 10, so friendly, so genuine (not what I expected for such a lavish restaurant). We came here on our last night in Melbourne and will be back! Wait time was long, over an hour for steaks and sides but honestly worth it. They were extremely packed.
M. L.
Food quite well done. Service was amazingly slow for a well staffed restaurant. Generally found the waiters too preoccupied with slow careful movements and etiquette than actually getting things done. Overall I had heard good reviews but on the time I was there grabbing steak and various sides with work colleagues. Found it fairly lacklustre to be honest. Level of service let it down hard. I found myself always looking for waiters. Example when they left the Desert menu. I would think we waited about 15mins before they returned to ask if we wanted anything.
N. N.
I remember going here a few years back and it was really good. Their steaks were comparable to the ones I've had in Argentina. Unfortunately, I went to Rockpool recently and the quality has declined quite significantly. Completely different clientele and atmosphere to what I remember - headed in the wrong way in my opinion. Good customer service however.
C. Z.
Absolutely delicious all around, the roasted asparagus, goat cheese tortellini, Mac and cheese, mushrooms, mushrooms were all cooked to perfection. 10/10 definitely worth it
D. P.
Top class restaurant, expensive $75 a steak, great quality but not the best steak I have had. Ambiance was perfect once you learnt how to adjust the table light (switch on the bottom). Lots of attentive staff. And yes I would go back.
M. '.
Absolutely love going to this place! Service is always exceptional and their food is amazing especially the steaks! I love how the menu always changes so you never know what to expect. Bare in mind that this place is extremely popular so you'll need to book in advance. I would've given 5 stars but they charge you $9 for water, which is pretty steep really not that I go there to drink water anyway haha
M. F.
Not impressed. My steak was good, but my partner’s mussel and seafood stew was so salty she had to return it to the kitchen. I wanted a mojito but was told that they don’t do crushed ice cocktails because they don’t have crushed ice.
The atmosphere was more like a bistro than a fine dining restaurant, lots of people coming and going all the time. We had five different waiters while we were there.
M. C.
Amazing food (lamb was fantastic). Amazing service (more below). They know how to serve a proper Four Pillars Gin and Tonic. Dinner was surprisingly, reasonably priced.
Service - no issues fitting us in at last minute, on a Friday evening! Staff knew when to leave two romantic souls well alone.....we had 4 hours to enjoy each other's company, with no pressure to vacate or pay the bill. We will be back again!
M. B.
Dined here last night for my husband's birthday (pram and infant in tow). The staff were excellent, the service superb and the food, out of this world! I ordered the fillet and my husband the 750g ribeye and whilst I couldn't fault my steak the rib eye was outstanding! Beat steak we have ever had and we've eaten steak all around the world! The dry age seasoning added so much flavour! Do yourself a favour and order the rib eye! Entree's and dessert mouth watering and the salted popcorn at the end was phenomenal. Can't wait to dine here again! Only wished I'd taken a photo!
J. A.
Just had dinner with hubby and I must say it was absolutely amazing. We ordered a steak each and came out perfect ordered somesides pumpkin and sweet potatoes they were well cooked.
Service was fantastic.
Atmosphere was busy and alive not a quite place but not Very loud either
Thank you for such a lovely experience
Highly recommended for a well feed dinner
J. T.
Fantastic steak, pleasant ambience. Waiters were very knowledgeable about their products. I had a dry-aged bone-in sirloin which was done to perfection and about the best steak I've had in my life. Oysters were fresh, and the sides we had (mushrooms and beef fat fried potatoes) were nice. Had a fantastic time. Advanced bookings required though...
A. H.
Fantastic service and they opened up a 6 seater for us last minute. The atmosphere and decor was brilliant. The best I've seen in a while. The wine options and scotch were fantastic and not too over priced. As many can relate, the mains were lacking quality. Considering the beef focus, the rib eye was poorly cooked with 3 out 6 cooked as asked. Mine was medium when I asked for medium/rare. The sides were poorly thought out. Surely you can be more creative than this head chef? The entrée, and desserts were fantastic! Is a pastry chef the new head chef? As for price, we spent just over $1000 for 6, so not too bad if they got the mains right. I might try again when down in Melbourne again for work.
T. B.
The best steak I have ever eaten. I had the marinated whole prawns and they were amazing, for mains I had the 750g rib eye cooked to their discretion it didn't disappoint. The side we're larger then I anticipated. All in all it was a great night. The staff were all friendly a wealth of knowledge and Seamlessly fit into our night. Thanks @rockpool.
S. G.
4 people (2 parents and 2 little kids) on a Saturday night without a reservation run a high risk to be bounced back, but we’ve been lucky enough to be taken and, after a few minutes at the bar counter sipping nice drinks, we have made our way to the table.
Waiters and the sommelier are extremely gentle and the whole dining experience has been wonderful. I’ve had a fillet with roasted potatoes and my partner a 60 month dry aged rib eye with carrots. The kids got a dish of linguine and a fish and chips. Also very enjoyable the passion fruit pavlova.
Will definitely return. Well done Rockpool Melbourne!
T. A.
The atmosphere is very nice, close to an high-end French bistrot. The staff is friendly. Service is good but can be slow.
Food is tasty (both meat and fish), portions are generous.
Even if I understand the point of ordering meat (rib-eye and scotch fillet) and an additional side, it would be nice to have a little salad coming together with the main considering the price.
j. h.
Stunning food and an amazing view of the smelly river hahahah
G. F.
Really nice beef here. Don't come here with thin pockets, as it is pricey but well worth it for the quality of produce. One downside is our meals took over an hour and a half to come out and we had already eaten the entree after 25 minutes, so there was a big gap there in time which wasn't pleasant. Service was good. Overall very classy place.
R. V.
I don't get it.
You order a "main" and you literally get whatever piece of meat on an empty plate served with 1/5th of a lemon and pay huge overs - it looks very depressing. The "bar menu" seems far more appetising. The food we did get was of a good quality and service was very good, but still it's kind of odd. If you order a bunch of sides you will be OK.
J. S.
Perfectly cooked steak, knowledgeable and personable waitstaff. Overall a joy to dine at. Would have been a 5 except for over cooked potato and some underdone batter on the onion rings. Small gripes on an otherwise brilliant experience
D. M.
Service excellent ... food so so ... meals expensive given that the meal on the menu required sides @ approximately $12-15 each added to the base price makes e.g. steak about $50. Scotch Fillet around 15mm thick .... would be much better @ 20-25mm to retain some juices. As far as sides mashed potato best as rest not much. One side can't think what it's description was on the menu, but it included greens, this was probably green at some stage, this had some semblance of green but had no idea what it actually was.
I won't be rushing back !
P. E.
Had dinner there because my client recommended it. The food was good but for what we got a bit overprices, but that if probably due to the location. They served plenty of fresh bread though which was really nice. I have had better dishes (and meat) in Melbourne but the place looks and feels great and the staff have been great.
L. V.
I had a great steak here. The service was a little off and the furnishings were very dusty- it felt dirty- like it needed a good wipe down. It is very pricey, so good to show off by bringing someone here. Was it the best steak I've ever had? Far from it actually. A rib eye that lacked that buttery, softeness I love in a perfect steak... but it was a great steak- tasty, lots of sauces, large, char-grill flavour. I think Vlados or even the Peacock Hotel do a better steak.
S. T. (.
Classy restaurant, superb steaks and flawless service. Always come here on special occasions. Not cheap though!
l. k.
First review. loved it. everything was great! food beautiful and amazing venue. My husband and I had a great night. reason for only 4 stars was that we didn't really receive great service until our mains were served. Bad day for the waiter maybe. all in all a great experience.
C. V. s.
The staff were quite accomodating and helpful however we were waiting a really long time for food to come, longer than at a lot of restaurants I've been to recently. I ordered the spanakopita and while it was well made, it was really spicy and didn't say anything on the menu about spices, something my tastebuds just don't agree with (I've also never had a spicy spanakopita). I do think the prices are a little high for what I got but I will say the sides we ordered (potatoes, onion rings and mac + cheese) were delicious. The atmosphere is also lovely!
B. v. S.
Food, service and beverages were very very good. Wine prices are on the high side, even for a restaurant, but you do get solid sommelier service in that cost.
L. K.
One of my favourite restaurant which by far has what I think the nicest cooked eye fillet in all of Melbourne. I’m a long time customer here so I can honestly say their quality in service and attention to detail is absolutely fantastic. The lovely dimmed atmosphere is a perfect spot to bring a business client or your loved one for a private moment while enjoying their broad list of wines. Watching the cookery profession take place in the open kitchen makes a dinner at Rockpool all the more worth while.
J. C.
What an incredible meal we had here.
We walked in and managed to get a seat in their bar area. Which doesn't feel like a bar area at all (I was slightly worried when they initially said this).
The food was incredible.
The service started off incredible and gradually over the 2 hours became a bit slapdash. Hence 4 stars.
But I would definitely go back, and I would definitely recommend.
E.
My first experience was not the best. I think that I had a tired waiter. It actually prompted my to write them an email about the experience.
I got a call from the manager who explained to me that the owner had read my email and that he wanted me to come in again.
Well, let me say the second experience was amazing! Food was brilliant and wait staff were fantastic. I was also very impressed how concerned they were about my experience and the extra length they went to re-define my perspective.
My view is that this is one of the best restaurants in Melbourne, if not Australia.
Thoroughly recommend Rockpool
D. L.
Having recently visited again since moving out of the area, my experience was as good as previous ones. May be just lucky that we all ordered the right dishes this time. Prices are not the cheapest but the deco and quality of food are high. And in comparison to Hong Kong's 4/5 stars this place is by far good value for money. Highly recommended for business gatherings also.
M. H.
The entree was absolutely lovely with freshly shucked oysters, yet our mains were quite disappointing. We asked for the goat's cheese pasta in the main size, and was confused on arrival as the portion seemed quite small for more than $50 in price. My duck was generous in portion but the balsamic dressing and fig didn't do much to compliment the taste. Would much rather have gone somewhere else, saved money and had a more fulfilling meal.
T. D.
Still on par with my previous 5 stars review a few months ago. This time we had guests from Vietnam who are in the wine business. Wonderful warm welcome! Everyone there is always friendly and discreet. Every single dish a work of art: a feast for the eyes as well as for the taste buds! Thank you to all.
B. M. (.
Was worried at first to be spending so much money on a meal for two but I have to say I was not at all disappointed.
I can comfortably say that the food, wine and service was worth the money.
The steaks were absolutely amazing and we will definitely be back.
E. B.
The whole experience was great from the service to the food, cocktails and a great selection of champagne.
L. 1.
Ok. Slightly pretentious and lacklustre tbh. Food was good apart from 1 dish, but not impressed by the service. The people at the desk were nice, but the bartenders were cringy and condescending. Waiter looking after us mumbled the whole time we could barely hear/understand him. All in all, average, won't be rushing back. I don't consider this fine dining.

Love the gesture of putting our company logo on the customised menu! (Tho I didn’t get the AML Officer offer with Crown earlier this year, yea )

great service and view, average dishes
C. F.
Steak was pretty good but not the best I've had at a high end steak restaurant (don't get me wrong, I'd do it again, I've just had better) , but the service was excellent which in my boss makes a place like this worth the fine dining price. The mac and cheese side is definitely worth the visit, still dreaming off it, yum!
A. R.
Rockpool bar food is very good but portion size is disappointing as for celebrity chef outlet. The most disappointing thing was service team. They look very busy and running here and there but service was very delay and the funny part is to pay our bill we hav to wait for nearly 30 min.
L. J.
This place deserves a higher rating, if you don’t want to pay the price don’t go. Best steak and service I’ve had and they gave me a free dessert for my birthday. Highly recommend

Good but not outstanding experience last night. Alaskan crab was great and was split into 2 plates for us without asking, nice. Couple of small downsides, had to follow up for our initial drinks, steak not cooked quite as desired (but offered to change)
R. W.
Great night. Warmly welcomed and taken to a great table.
On a Monday night the restaurant was buzzing and full but service was spot on. Excellent wine recommendation from the sommelier.
We started with the crudo of three fish - just a fantastic dish! After that the food was excellent (maybe give the Spicy Mussel and Saffron Stew a miss).
It was expensive but delivered on food, service and experience!
Trying to find a reason to return...

I have been twice now. Both times we had an excellent experience.
The first experience was a standout. The waiter recommended steak. I don't order steak out as I hadn't had one better that what we do at home. The waiter guaranteed that I haven't had a steak like there's. I can't pass up a challenge. I told him if mine was better that I wasn't paying for it. Waiter accepted.
3 different cuts were ordered and we also ordered the duck.
Let's just say I paid for the steak. The duck was out of this world. The waited was a ripper bloke.
The 2nd experience was as good. I got worried as in the past I have recommended a restaurant have talked it up to be disappointed. Not in this case.
Highly recommended and thank all you guys for the food and experience.
We will be back.
M. m.
Overall it’s good, ordered king prawns which was tasty, crispy outside and soft inside, loved the pumpkin and sweet potato with garlic yoghurt( I ate almost of this can’t stop lapping up plate so yummy), 36 month scotch fillet was nice as well but food presentation was bland, MAC and cheese sorry I don’t like this one. Good service, environment and location, but 15% surcharge applied on Sunday.
S. L.
Best steak and good drinks selection
B. S.
Hard to believe you don’t serve oysters! Rock pool is a small body of water in the ocean, implying seafood.. oysters and Champagne is needed here..
D. N.
Outstanding! This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Mushy peas and steaks were a highlight. The staff there a fantastic - big shout out to Zac in the kitchen, Jamie keeping it real behind the bar and my main man Ben on the door - keep it up!
T. C.
It's a very nice place, food and service were good. Was expecting more from a fine dining location, it let us down a bit. We were in a table of 7 for a business meeting, other patrons around us were very noisy, but the square table was good to talk across.
E. W.
Went once about 6 years ago and had a v v fond memory of the food and experience. However, when I went back yesterday, I felt slightly let down. The atmosphere and service was lovely, however the food seemed to have missed the mark. There was a general lack of balance in flavours and textures- one dish was rather bland and some of the combinations just didn't go together. My pasta, while tasted reasonable, was v oily. Dessert menu was underwhelming. Best item was the complimentary caramel popcorn at the end. Portion sizing was v generous rhough. I really wanted to enjoy it more but left feeling rather meh.
K. C.
It's hard to argue with the deliciousness of what's surely Neil Perry's leading brand. Its convenient location in the Crown Complex is handy for those staying at the hotels here. The food is excellent, and lunchtime allows some walk in traffic (which is what we did). The prices are borderline exorbitant for what you get, so you wouldn't want to make this a regular, and service varies significantly by staff member - which shouldn't be the case when you're charging these kind of prices. Still, this is reliably top notch food for those willing to shell out.
E. D.
The service and food experience at Rockpool is beyond expectations, which are already set at excellent! Beautiful fresh produce cooked to perfect, fantastic staff looking after guests
Worth the money!
B. J.
Service was really good, but this is really not worth the money. We have had better meals at half the price. My $60 aged rib-eye off the bone, medium rare, was chewy like rubber. The last steak I bought from coles and cooked myself was better. The duck confit my partner had was nice though, but again there are better meals at half the price elsewhere. Vegetable side dishes were pretty nice.
J.
Been coming here for years. Best steaks I have ever had. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Melbourne.
N. D.
When I entered this fine establishment I was surprised at how little light there was in the restaurant. I’m not entirely sure if the restaurant owner forgot to pay the electricity bill but at one point I missed my steak with my fork as I wasn’t able to see where I had to place my fork. Also, it truly amazed me at how the staff were able to manoeuvre across the restaurant whilst not being able to see. Nonetheless I can confirm the waiter finally found our table after we turned our phone flashlight on and screamed SOS as my table truly thought we were lost in a dark abyss. Apart from the food being great the most difficult task was finding the exit door as the restaurant was so dark. My friends and I had to hold each other’s t shirts so we wouldn’t get lost. If you are wanting to take your children on a fun adventure and play hide and seek I would highly recommend this establishment.
F. L.
Booked a table for two for my birthday lunch. We ordered lobster omelette and quail for entrée, abalone pasta, duck breast for main, Mac n cheese to share, they are all amazing!!!!! The waitress was very friendly, after found out the occasion, she gave us a free birthday cupcake. Such great value for money, will definitely go back.
L. A.
Nice place but you gotta wait forever for a table. Cocktails were good except for their Moscow mule. Overwhelming ginger taste. Probably homemade ginger soda but it was an overkill. Couldn’t only taste that. Still remember the taste. Overall, lovely place
C. H.
I ordered the pork chop. $50. I have regrets.
Look, it was literally the best tasting pork chop I've ever had. But. It should have been three times bigger, at least, for the price. It was tiny. I would never come here again unless my sugar daddy was paying and it was just for dessert and coffee.
N. E. T.
Delicious steak and attentive service. Nice interior
D. J.
I've been to Rockpool twice now with the 2nd time quite recently, the staff have always been great and atmosphere really nice but I think the food and wine is stupidly overpriced for what it is. The steaks are good but not outstanding, certainly not worth the high price tag. The side dishes use to be the main attraction but last time found them quite common and lost their special appeal.. The cuts of meat are too thin and presented on the plate pre sliced which is annoying. They really need to introduce a cheaper range of wines as the cheapest is $18 a glass.. There's now a lot of competition in Melbourne for great steaks, I no longer think of Rockpool as my first choice for a great steak meal..
W.
My friend suggested I try the burger because we are both into gourmet burgers and trying the ‘best’ ones in Melbourne. So I went there and tried the cheese burger ($25 with no sides and an optional $15 serving of chips added if you want it..). It’s ok. The patty is large and filling, & the bun is reasonably nice. The problem though, is that they just use the plastic style cheese used at McDonald’s and also the only sauces on it are literally supermarket ketchup and mustard.. (not that I mind mustard). I’m really not sure why they couldn’t at least make there own ketchup or use a more special one?? Who would have thought Neil Perry has such bogan taste in the ingredients used in a cheese burger. It’s basically a glorified quarter pounder to be honest.
I also went back to try the wagyu burger ($28) because the waiter had told me it was their best burger at the Rockpool bar.
It was a bit of a step up in quality. A nice big thick patty cooked medium rare, some better cheese on it and other pickled condiments. I think they use some sort chutney instead of ketchup too. This burger was more satisfying but not quite worth $28 but perhaps almost that much, although I think they under toasted my bun.
The decor and restaurants dining room are pretty top notch and create a good atmosphere. The service is also pretty good and the waiters are in super formal attire with white blazers and ties etc. they provide some nice fresh complimentary bread and butter too which is nice.
R. G.
Food was great, most staff were good. Some were a bit up full of themselves and overly serious. The barman was terrible.
J. Y.
They said its number one in Melbourne, I haven't been to many different Italian restaurants so I don't know. Maybe 20 or 30 times had meal here, I would say Rockpool can't be wrong anyway. If you dont wanna spend time to explore some secret hidden places, go Rockpool then. Recommended.
O. G.
Expensive but good, very good - one of the best in Australia I have to say. Meat was tender and with lots of flavour. The sides were delicious - I'd recommend macaroni and cheese. Service and the atmosphere were also very nice. Booking in advance is highly recommended.
T. C.
My favourite place for steak in Melbourne! Great service every time.
B. J.
Went for a banquet dinner last night. Celebrating the Woodford Reserve whisky and bourbon.
Cocktails absolutely amazing!! Never knew whisky could taste this could. Wasn't a big fan before but I sure am now!!!
Thank you, Rockpool.
Four course menu with each dish accompanied by it's own whisky concoction.
Dishes that stood out for me were goat's cheese tortellini for entre, which was deeelicious. I could've had the whole tray.
And only THE BEST SICKY DATE PUDDING I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!!!! It was sweet, salty, crunchy, sticky, moist and everything in between. Just the right amount of ice cream and so generous with the sauce. Just WOW!!!
Overall, great food, great service, great experience. Will definitely eat there again!!!
C.
Always a great place for lunch with top quality food that never disappoints. Be prepared to pay for quality but worth it in my opinion
T. L.
Came here with overseas family. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Steak cooked to perfection. Nice ambience, highly recommend it for a 'special night out' - otherwise a bit expensive but worth it.
A. B.
Have been going here for nearly 8 years and without fail every time I dine here it's a great experience. Highly knowledgeable staff mean all is great, the sommeliers make wonderful suggestions, the hosts are always courteous and pleasant, and while the waiters change around, i'm always happy with each and every one serving me.
Special shout to Mitch, he's always happy to stop by and have a quick chat despite being so busy, and to my french waiter last night who I had a great conversation with! Mullet was amazing as per usual (they always do a fish of some sort with tomatoes, olives and basil), steak phenomenal like always, and sides to die for. This time I had space for dessert which was to die for, and a lovely whiskey that was recommended by the great sommelier who I had a great conversation with earlier while trying a Syrah, Barolo and Burgundy I hadn't had before!
No matter if I had the worst service, something will always 110% make up for it, luckily for me i've always had amazing food and even better service. I'll be back for many years to come, and i'm glad that the takeover from Neil Perry to RDG has had little to no effect.
S. R.
The restaurant is deliciously decorated and the views of Melbourne, at night, are breathtaking. Food is too fancy and very expensive for my taste.
L. O.
Scallops are not to be missed! Exceptional food and service. Also excellent Covid-19 measures were in place when we dined. Thank you.

This is our special go to place, anniversaries and birthdays usually. Sunday is our favourite time, it's usually quite and easy to get a table at shot notice. Major sporting events impact on this however so keep it in mind if your coming to Melbourne for the gRand Prix, AFL Grand Final, of the Melbourne Cup. I can't speak highly enough of the service here. The waiters and waitresses are fabulous, attentive polite and knowledgable. The food of course impeachable swell. Even the humble fish and chips was off the charts on our visit last year. Our deserts and desert wines were paired perfectly too. Love love love this place.
M. E.
Amazing meal and experience. Well worth the price.
B. G.
The female manager was lovely after a complaint regarding the food. Very helpful
Z. B. L.
Had the grilled prawns for starters, which were excellent. Steak did not disappoint, and the good quality of the sides is a bonus. Their Mac and cheese is definitely worth highlighting, sweet potatoes and pumpkins were pretty decent as well.
H. K.
It is one of a great place in Melb to get a good steak. We went there as a group and they provide a private room for us.
I quite disappointed with the food presentation, i not sure may be because we are in a group and have a share dish, so it not present as what i imagine in a high class restaurant.
J. B.
Had my birthday dinner here a few weeks ago and the food was amazing! Steak was cooked perfectly. Service was also fantastic. Highly Recommend.
M. I.
One of my favorite meals. Visiting from Texas so I should have some credibility on analyzing a steak. Try the mullet fish starter, delicious! Also the side salad with parmesan was quite excellent. One of my favorite meals in a long time.

Nice food . Wait staff seated us beside a bucks party of a dozen men all drunk . Staff had no idea how to handle them and of course seated us next to them . A >$500 meal totally ruined from the first minute we sat down . I wanted to move tables but of course it’s Friday night full . Really didn’t want to be there after 5 mins in . The staff should of been aware of this !!! I spoke with them after we’d paid and they said “ at least you can go home , we have to stay and put up with them “ . It would be a very long time before we go again . Very very very disappointed and embarrassed I never made a point of it in the night . Totally ruined
M.
Unfortunately the service was not the quickest that night but the food was beautiful and the cake that was made for my birthday was devine.
J. C.
The staff here are exceptional, the food was amazing, the price was high but u have to pay that for the service! It's the place you come to after winning a few hands of poker at the casino and want to endings in the finer things in life, I chose to share plates with my date for the night. The steak was one of the best I have had! The night Went really well I ended up staying at the metropol that night 😊. Not a tinder first date place but definitely an experience you need to have with some one spesh.

Good food and reasonably good service. It's great to leave a restaurant feeling full. Yes, a tad pricey but well worth it.
Our waiter came across a little toffee nosed but had great knowledge of the menu.

I'm looking forward to paying them a visit in the summer, beautiful building. Good service, sit in the bar area upstairs for a better aesthetic. Parking can be a little obnoxious. They gave us the fish tacos instead of the fish, but the fish tacos were fantastic.

Been here a handful of times now. Was blown away the first time when we’d ordered steak and seafood bisque, amongst other things. The subsequent visits did not rouse the same feelings of satisfaction and, considering the price, we no longer think that the establishment is worth dining at anymore.

Best steak and great service.

Really great experience with a work function. We were a big group of people and everyone got their order done as requested. The food was very well prepared and tasteful. Great view and atmosphere.
m. h.
Steaks were great, so was the tartare and duck. wagyu bolognese was eh.
L. Z.
Great service, fantastic location, but steaks are not worth the price with so many great steakhouses in Melbourne for maybe 3/4 of the price.
An experience for a special occasion but not compelling enough to go back.

I wish that I could rate it higher but all I can say is that 'it was ok'.
For our last night in Melbourne my partner and I thought we would treat ourselves.
The atmosphere was lovely, though our main waitress who took our orders and refilled our drinks seemed dull and unfriendly. The waiters who delivered and took our dishes were lovely though.
My partner ordered the most expensive Wagyu steak on the menu at $110 and I ordered the duck confit. We ordered several sides and Entrées and they were all lovely just rather expensive for what they were. The roasted sweet potatoes were a highlight as far as the sides go.
Was very disappointed in the dessert menu. Surely somewhere as fancy as Rock Pool should have a more exciting dessert menu. For what we paid, I've had better meals and experiences for half the price.

We have eaten at most places in Crown and this one tops the list. Really delicious cuisine and first class waiting service. A big winner!
A must is the potato and cabbage gratin as a side dish.
A. T.
Had a great experience at Rockpool bar and Grill crown and would highly recommend it. Excellent service and great food. The servers were a pleasure to deal with and always did what they could to make our experience the best. Highly recommended!
L. B.
Was afraid of the place not living up to its reputation, but we need not have worried. Food and service was well deserving of the hype. One of the very best. Well done
M. B.
I love going here because there is a huge menu and there is a plate for every taste. I love their seafood selection for it's freshness. Service is quick and friendly. Weekends, it tends to be very busy. Booking in advance is recommended. Very popular place
A. L.
Amazing service. Staff are attentive and the food is top class. One of the best in Melbourne
P. C.
How was Rockpool yumy yumy we had a great meal and lovely window seat and very friendly staff :)
J. L.
Excellent food with generous portion sizes for mains. Staff were well trained staff and down to earth, without the usual air of snobbery one might expect from a famous chef restaurant. Will return again!
M. c. W.
It was my first visit and the dry aged steak was amazing! I am looking forward to visiting again
E. N.
Omg Wow! The King prawn goat cheese tortellini was incredible. Best meal I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The Mac and Cheese, yes it’s that good. Cabbage and Parmesan salad, and Brocollini with anchovy sauce - fantastic. Well done Rockpool!
S.
Amazing food but took over an hr to come out when it wasn't busy at all.
f. r.
Fantastic! The meat was delcious, the service was very nice ! But the best part of the dinner was the desserts, OMG it was sooo tasty !! I highly recommend everyone to eat a dessert and not only the meat!!! I'd like to thank the pastry cook Flo for his professionalism and his rigor in his job !! Thank you very much!!
T. B.
Such a great experience. This place surely makes even the most simplest of dishes amazing. Reasonably priced and very professional staff. Not a surprise considering their sister restaurant, spice temple, is also spectalar.
J. D.
Great place for steak and other meats, price is on the high side, and ambiance is also a bit on the high side, but this is what you'd expect from an upscale steak house. Decor is contemporary, great for a night out.
C. H.
Great steak cooked to perfection. Onion rings were exceptional. Service was excellent and our waitress Brook was outstanding.
A. M.
One of the best steak and chips at the Crown (seafood of course also one of the tops). I like their soups and side dishes especially potatoes gratin. I wish I can afford to go there more often. You shouldn't miss this one if you are visiting Crown in Melbourne.
A. S.
Food was great but wasn't that impressed with the service. Waiters were not real friendly or helpful possibly since it was a public holiday they may not have been real motivated to be at work. It was otherwise quite nice.
A. H.
Amazing filer steak and the bread they serve while you wait it to die for. The staff is very friendly, we felt very comfortable.
M. M.
Food was really average for the price. Some of our side dishes were cold when they arrived. Meat was ok but not amazing. Service was great though!!
D. D.
Fantastic steak and wine.
D.
Good food, excellent staff but a bit loud.
T. W.
Best steak in Sydney. Service is impeccable and the venue is quite possibly the best non-water front in Australia. A must for wine lovers too.
J. V.
Good service, nice place, amazing meat .... Thanks !!!
A. G.
Great food, good service. Just, slow. Over an hour for steaks, medium rare x4. Seems a bit much. Also very expensive, but well known for the price so not a surprise.
M. P.
I've had much better steak for the price, rib eye fat not properly rendered, steak was undercooked. Why do so few recognise the value of a charcoal grill
b.
Staff were lovely and efficient. And entrees and Oysters fantastic. But lighting is frustratingly dim and the main require side dishes to balance them. I don't believe 3 hats is deserved
M. M.
Pricey but worth every penny. Have never had a bad dish at Rockpool and am always left hankering for more from the enormous menu. A Melbourne institution
K. B.
An underwhelming experience. The food was good, but not great and the service was terrible.
A. D.
What an experience, I recently went with a group of 15 people for a 21st Birthday party and everyone is coming back...that says alot these days. Food, Staff, Service and the Food unbelievable. If you haven't been, book now
because you will not regret it.
S. W.
Second time we have eaten here. When we were last in Melbourne in 2017 and again just 2days ago and it was just as we remembered it service and food excellent. Will definitely go again when we are in Melbourne.
H. N.
Great steak and wide range of dishes to suit any food lover. Nice, clean space with attentive staff. Been coming for years
M. B.
My steak was burnt but upon speaking to the manager, they replaced another one for me.
Not the best but I'm satisfied with their professional service.
H. L.
Really enjoyed the way they served up their side dishes. Wait staff got a bit impatient towards the end but fair enough it was 2230. Extensive wine list and very quiet kitchen.
T. H.
Love the ambience of this restaurant. Makes me feel comfortable and cosy while enjoying the wonderful food. I love the macaroni and cheese side dish YUM and the variety of sauces/condiments to go with the slicks steak.
G. H.
Service good. Food choice minimal if you don't eat meat and my (essentally) fish stew was just OK. Steak was good. Sommelier didn't come back to us.
J. M.
Amazing food, huge selections of wine and drinks. Great ambience and atmosphere.
D. D.
Elyse.. say no more! Her knowledge of the menu was unparalleled to any service we have received in crown before. A truely great hostess to complement an incredible meal and atmosphere.
K. H.
Excellent food and service. Attended a work function and while it was a set menu. The food and wine were perfectly matched. Certainly an enjoyable event with minimal issues.
M.
It's good by Australian standards but does not come close to American steakhouses. Steaks are going with decent selection of spirits and wines.
J. K.
Love Rockpool south bank. Atmosphere is so nice. The vibe is so relaxing and enjoyable. The food is never questionable always very well presented. The waiting is immaculate friendly and very professional. Xo
R. C.
I ordered 2 servings of the Full Blood wagyu burger done medium tonight and apparently the beef patty was grilled over a woodfire and the flare-up was too much making the patty burnt and dry. Upon reflecting to the service crew, she replaced one serving with one that lacked grill marks on the medium rare patty. It was definitely jucier and a much preferred grill. The person was adding more wood enthusiastically keeping the fire hot and burning. A more controlled flame will result in a better tasting burger in future.
A. I.
The quality of the food, service and atmosphere is incredible. Love this place.
B. B.
Ordered the bruschetta, waygu spaghetti, Tasmanian blue eye & potatoes in waygu fat. Everything was A1. Restaurants atmosphere is cosy and moody. Pricey but what do you expect? Worth the money. Staff are very accommodating.
J. B.
Fantastic food and even better service. We had some incredible steaks, red wine and after dinner they recommended an old fashioned which was the best I've ever had.
J. L.
At Rockpool Bar & Grill Melbourne, beef is the showcase with a large array of cuts available from grass fed, grain fed and David Blackmore's Pure Blood Wagyu and all beef is dry aged on premise.
Featuring a sophisticated and refined atmosphere Rockpool offers an inviting space with warm timbers and ambient lighting to enjoy the signature flavours.
P. B. G.
outstanding service throughout the night and i was very impressed with wine & food knowledge from staff. the food was perfect in every way. highly recommended, it was a pleasure to dine here
K. J.
Comfortable seating, friendly quick staff, not too crowded, diverse range of people visiting. Interesting bar, menu and good vegetarian options. Good music and easy atmosphere. Parking has it's challenges as qith most places these days. I'll be back !
a. t.
top quality steak and seafood 10/10 from me even the pavalova cake is mouth watering best restaurant in melbourne hands down
S. B.
The food is amazing, the service is always outstanding and the atmosphere and seating is perfect. It is defiantly worth the money. Every visit to Melbourne we are inclined to return to the Rockpool Bar, and will continue to do so.
P. z.
fantastic dine place to have steak
P. A.
The food was nice, but when you only get 6 pieces of pasta and 4 prawns for a main meal, what are you supposed to do for dinner? Ohh and waiting 13 minutes for the bill so we could go home.
M. C.
Food was amazing, service was fantastic, we enjoyed our time there
D. K.
Great customer service, very professional. The steak I had ordered was cooked perfectly. A very nice dinning experience.
G.
Fantastic scollops & fantastic steaks. Lighting was a bit low for me very dark trying to read the menu, but the service & food is giddy up 👍🏽
T. T.
Friendly customer service, nice ambience and views. Food was nicely seasoned though a little overcook, causing it to be a little dry. Would come back to try other dishes
L. O.
Absolutely delicious! Everything was cooked superbly!
The staff were excellent and were very prompt and knowledgeable.
Y. M.
Great choice of alcohol. Best steak I’ve ever had 9+ marbling. The place looks awesome, always full. Good and friendly service
C. L.
Great dining experience ! Had one of the best meals I have ever eaten ! Definitely recommend.
c. a.
The age dried Blackmore Mishima Beef is out of this world. And dig into the Mac and cheese.
L. O.
10 guests, private room, 3 course meal, service by the staff exceptional. Wine selection expansive. A wonderful experience catered by the event manager.
D. C.
Service was absolutely exceptional. Wine list is fatastic. Food was great, my steak was delicious, but perhaps a bit overpriced.
S. R.
Amazing food ,Service and Atmosphere
Magnificent steaks and seafood cooked to perfection ,Forget the price and just get down there !!!!
As Arnold says ILL BE BACK
Z. M.
Amazing food and service. We didn't have a booking but were able to wait and drink at the bar until 1 was ready. Big portions.
B. L.
Very busy restaurant but it could use more staff training for how to do a efficient job. The food was great. Very long waits for a person to attend the table.
H.
We have been here many times. The food is still nice but the prices have risen steadily however the service is consistently good.
A.
Good food, good service. A bit pricey.
Then just to gouge a few extra dollars they charge a credit card surcharge. I wonder when they will charge a dish cleaning and power surcharge?
A. F.
Pricey but tasty. Menu can be a bit hit and miss sometimes.
杜.
Great steak and wine,also service.
Best steak in my brief Melbourn experience, achieve level to Japanese Wagyu
E. N.
Next time I'll only have the steaks. Tried few steaks and they were really good but the rest of the menu including the side dishes were not anything special
L. V.
Amazing high end restaurant! Very time I have been here it has been truly a great experience from the service to the atmosphere to the amazing food. Would highly recommend Rockpool !
P. G.
Unbelievably delicious food. Wow. What atmosphere. My recommendation is to get a little tipsy, and go have some expensive streak there. Just once in your life. It's so worth it!
E. P.
Window seat, food outstanding, yummy bread and great service by the fantastic team!
S. R.
Absolutely love Rockpool at Crown. One of my very favourites. Very high quality food where you actually leave full. Have been back many times and will continue to.
A. L.
Beautiful food! Very good customer service
S. G.
Pretty amazing food. Service is nothing short of incredible. Would go back any day as long as my wallet could take the punishment.
M. L. R.
Had dinner here last night for my partners birthday and wow what can I say... it was perfect, from the moment we walked in to the moment we left, loved every second, every bite - just everything. Will for sure be back - wouldn't go anywhere else.
