Such a great experience (I’m writing this as a stuffed satisfied customer). The pub was very homey, and had an old school comfort vibe. I understand it’s a family run business, with majority of the menu being Italian. The portion sizes were enormous, which I loved. Meals were definitely value for money. We got the polenta chips, seafood pasta and the baked barramundi (which was on special). The seafood pasta was amazing. When I come back again (which I will), I will struggle to order something other than the seafood pasta (it was that good).

This is a good inner suburban pub with a great range of beers and plenty of food choices. The menu is mostly Italian with pasta and pizza featuring. The service is excellent and the portions huge. Great pub fare. Decor is bright and clean . I highly recommend this place.

Very solid cannelloni and also lasagna. I order delivery from these guys regularly and they comply with the order notes and timings. The City of Melbourne did a great job erecting an outdoor space temporarily to help them come back after the coronavirus despite rate capping. I felt some of their comments weren't thankful to the council who have their own budget struggles at the moment. Highly recommended for nice food.

Just a hop, skip , and a jump away from Melbourne's famous Flagstaff Gardens, The Royal Standard Hotel provides a wide selection of Italian cuisines that is both high quality and generous serves. Their Pescatore' with Spaghetti is to die for! Staff are very warm and professional. They have a range of delectable appetisers and desserts as well. The price of the food is medium range i.e. $$, but the experience of a high quality and hearty Italian meal negates cost and delivers an excellent culinary mouth watering experience. Definitely a must to visit when you are in the Victoria Market end of Melbourne. Enjoy!

Not been long in Melbourne and thought I would find a local Was not told about the $10 min charge until I ordered my coke and it was poured out I could have had another one after I finished the first but I wanted to sleep that night and it was around 8 There should have been better notice where you walk in as I had sat at bar for a few minutes until the bar staff were free and (I assume) the owner was standing close by as he told me after I was served

The service was excellent - attentive, friendly and very welcoming. We loved this place so much we returned 3 times while down from Cairns for the AO. It is situated near the Queen Vic Markets - if you are staying nearby do yourself a favour and pop in for a truly delicious meal.

Very good of pub food with a Italian flavour, but with a few non-Italian dishes too - all good! Laid back, very reasonable prices. Excellent pizza. It's very close to Flagstaff Gardens and Vic Market but without the hassles of crowds. Quite good for larger groups. The owners are very family friendly and community minded likeable people. We have a group who go regularly, and they're very good to us. I always feel welcome there.

What a great meal, had the fortune to dine here a few months with friends and made the promise that we would return and so glad we did. This is an excellent place for high quality pasta dishes. It’s great value too. The seafood dish was massive. Actually, all the mains are big. You could order the smaller entree size and still feel full. Customer service excellent too. Would recommend to all.

Amazing and unexpected! Was visiting Melbourne and a friend asked me to meet her here. I was not expecting much from this place, but damn the food was delicious! I had the pork ribs, which were saucy, juicy and with plenty of meat. My friends had the pasta, which they loved and were given generous portions. This is a hotel that serves good, tasty and well cooked food. The menus offers a variety of dishes of Italian influence as well as listing a good stake and fish selection. I ordered Uber eats from here last night and was very very happy. I got the quattro formaggi with gnocchi and my husband got the carbonara with gnocchi, and garlic bread. The gnocchi was a little gluggy but was still good, and both sauces were amazing! It was the perfect meal for a cold night. I think it may be the best gnocchi dish I’ve ever had. The portions were generous too, big enough that there’s leftovers for lunch (which I’m really looking forward to). The garlic bread was also delicious and fresh.

What can you say about the Royal Standard that others haven't? This place has to be one of the best kept secrets in Melbourne. For starters the staff are fantastic and friendly (thanks Lucy and team) and the food is second to none in the area. Lots of dishes to choose from the entree through to mains. Meats, seafood, pizza and pasta. The desserts are great if you have space to fit them in. The hotel has the ambiance of history on its walls of times gone by, but modern in every sense of the word. As Molly used to say, 'Do yourself a favour..' and call in for a meal or at least a pint of Phurphy Pale Ale, or both. You wont regret it. Tony H

A Real Local. I stumbled across the Royal Standard a few months ago and have now been back now quite a number of times. Love the local feel of the bar plus the great cheap meals. They have the usual beers on tap but I like that they are have a few different and changing ones on tap. Worth a visit just for a pint of Prickly Moses Otway Ale! I hope that they keep that one on :)

I have found the pizza's I've been looking for! Remember in the 90's when pizzas had real toppings, well they do still exists and you will find them at Royal Standard Hotel. Fabulous pizzas, excellent taste and nice garlic bread. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a superb hotel just near the Vic markets. Do yourself a favour and grab some food at RSH.
