Would give a few more stars if they were on offer.. as far as pubs go this is one is up there. Great selection of beers (wife was chuffed with the gluten free options - both on tap and in the fridge). If you’re passing through make an effort to stop for a drink, feed and great service!

Visited Avoca today for lunch at the quite unique Avoca Hotel. Love this venue, you feel welcome as soon as you enter. We enjoyed every aspect of the experience, from the excellent attention to service, top local wine choices, the menu and of course, the amazing food! Great decor and comfortable environment. All the staff and owners are lovely and professional. They have a huge selection of wines and beers including craft and international. Plus the fusion menu from the restaurant is perfect everytime. I love visiting.

On a cold winter’s night what could be better than a delicious hot meal and an open fire? Perhaps a nice glass of something? You’ll find this at the Avoca Hotel. You’ll also be greeted by very friendly staff. Although this is my third visit to Avoca, it’s my first to the hotel but certainly not my last. Great menu choices and an excellent selection of local wines. There was a also an extensive selection of beers and ales.

Truely terrific hotel with friendly hard working owners and staff who are passionate about food, wine and beer. The tap beers are thoughtful and enable you to sample some amazing craft brews from around the world. The lunch food was fresh and delicious with a great range of choice. Fantastic food choices on a very creative menu. The meals were delicious and beautifully presented. They have 10 pages of interesting and unusual beers and 3 pages of guns from around the world. We received a bowl of local olives to start - Moonambel Gap-and lots of great local wines on offer. Great atmosphere and decor. Definitely worth a drive to or a stop over at.

A delightful meal with great wines and ideal for our anniversary lunch celebration. Beautiful, slightly seared scallops served with butter, lemon and capers - perfect. The lamb pot pie was delicious with 'just right' pastry and Moroccan spices. My partner's kangaroo (rare) with pan fried gnocchi and beetroot was also spot on. The food offered is a great change from usual pub fare although they do have some 'pub grub' available. Local wines and good service rounded out a wonderful meal. It's great to revisit after a long period of pandemic restrictions. Host is spot on with QR check in and vax certification so a safe and responsible environment to relax and enjoy.

Had lunch today Easter Saturday, so busy the place was pumping. We had booked ahead which a good thing given how busy they were. If it's not the Wine list or the extensive beers available on tap and in bottle... then it's absolutely the food! Easily the best country pub I've been to and I've been coming here for over 3 years. The food is consistently excellent. Rotating specials and desserts. Ian and family are so hospitable and have so much knowledge and experience that you can't not have a great time here. They pride themselves on local wines and produce. The gin selection rivals a top Melbourne bar. Come here once and you'll leave talking about it until you return.

Came here with a bus load of hikers who had been talking about burgers for a week. We had 25mins to eat and were worried we wouldn't have time for a burger. The barman came to the rescue and rushed our food through and the burger did not disappoint!! Its easy to see why the Avoca burger is famous, the best burger I've had in Melbourne AND the beer battered chips were amazing too. The service is outstanding and this will now be a regular stop after a hike. Thanks again Avoca Hotel, you guys rock!!

Dropped in today Sunday 3rd October with no booking, and initially they kindly asked my wife to wait outside due to covid numbers allowed inside, shortly after they advised, they have maximum numbers allowed, could we please come back in 30 mins, checked ID’s which we did and were nicely greeted and allocated a table for 2.. very friendly .. followed the guidelines and the food was great… best country pub meal we have ever had, and we eat out frequently

This is a hidden gem in the Pyrenees region. There is something for everyone here, the front bar has a huge selection of regional national and international wine and spirits as well as the beers of similar diversity. The food is amazing for a country pub and along with the restaurant at the back they produce a quality which any city fine dining establishment would be jealous of as evidenced by all the awards and platters they have received. The staff and owners are friendly and efficient and add to an already impressive experience. So go to the region sample at the wineries and make this venue a part of the trip.

I do not recommend this place. The woman serving us that night was very rude. We ordered garlic bread which was served to someone else and only relised when we enquired about our meal 3/4 of an hour waiting ,enjoying a drink. Nil apology and when we did get our garlic bread it was thrown onto the table at us with out serviettes and eye contact. We ordered a seafood platter to share and on requesting an extra fork n serviettes was told if we wanted an extra plate,which we didnt, it would cost us an extra $6. Travelling around Australia this place goes down as being the worst in our country for manners.

For a country pub this place has an incredible beer and wine list as well as a refreshing menu. We ate the S+P squid, dumplings, 2 parmies. The dumplings were disappointing but the squid was impeccable! Parmies had a great crumb-to-chicken-to-ham-to-sauce-to-cheese ratio! The service was spot on too! Worth the trip.

Great lunch at the Avoca Hotel. Bang bang cauliflower is spicy crunchy and delicious. All mains were excellent - we had a pasta, whiting tails and steak. Cooked to perfection. Fabulous selection of local wines and lovely hospitality from the owners. We’ll be back for sure.
