Great value Christmas lunch. Excellent service. Only downside was messy toilets. But would definitely go again

We hosted our son's first birthday here and we were very happy we did despite booking it while we were in lockdown. The staff were great (in particular Meagan) at ensuring our party went off without a hitch. The venue was good, the food was delicious and our guests were well taken care off. The only downside was that the platters took a bit longer than expected but once they were in rotation, no one left hungry. Thanks again to the team at The Exchange Hotel.

Here right now. Seated outside on a rainy night having booked weeks ago. No umbrella, no heater. The manager came out and organised to seat us inside. The food was amazing. We will be back and appreciate the service and care that was shown despite the limitations they are our under for reopening.

Dropped in for a meal without a booking and was greeted with a smile from the extremely friendly staff. Reasonably priced across the board although the meals took longer than normal they were worth the wait. Very tasty and generous meal sizes are a credit to the chef.

We celebrated son’s birthday here , although the weather is cold and windy and waited for almost an hour for our food to arrive. I promised you, it is worth the wait. We enjoyed the wagyu beef’s tender meat with a bit of salad and fries. The fries is absolutely tasty. I liked the fennel salad together with the salmon and orange. The Parma looks delicious and they also have eggplant burger. There are heaps of table inside but make sure you booked online to reserve a table or else you won’t experience one of the best pub food in Port Melbourne.

5 Stars are reserved for food that impressed me....and this did! The Chips actually came from potato and were irregular and had peel on them, the steak was spot on, Mushroom sauce was a delight with its garlicky taste. The cauliflower very nicely done, still having a bit of bite to it with just enough cheese to make it tasty. Wife had the salmon with fennel salad and that was pretty nice (I'm normally not a fan of fennel, but I would it that) Good wine list.

We visited on a Thursday lunchtime, it was quiet initially but as we left it was fairly busy. We sat in the dining room area which was sunny and airy. Very comfy for a lunchtime meal. There seemed to be only one staff on but having said that he didn’t drop the ball. The food came out in relatively good time and was delicious. We ordered the mini Parma which is still a good size and the lamb pie which was delicious. The pie was piping hot which is how I like my food but the sides were lukewarm but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the dish. I saw the steak dish being served to another table and it looked great, definitely got some FOMO. The one bar/wait staff that was on that day was really friendly and quick and can make a mean cocktail. Will definitely return and will be trying out the steak!

The chicken, mustard and cheese pie was absolutely delicious, it was off a separate paper lunch menu so I'm not sure if it's a stable item but I would highly recommend it. It came with chips and salad and they were also done very well and the presentation was good. Atmosphere is nice too and the staff are great, highly recommend. Unlike the the previous review I was less impressed with the re-opening of The Exchange. We had no umbrella and no heater in miserable conditions. My wife had asked the waiting staff what would happen in the event of rain and they agreed that we would get wet. No offer to go inside as they were at capacity, so some of us just had to grin and bear it I suppose. Upon seating no one explained that we would need to order via an app, we were left to our own devices to figure that out. Now to the food I ordered the lamb pie which was great but on the other hand my wife ordered an eggplant parma where the eggplant was barely discernible and cut into very thin slivers whereas they used to be thick rounds of eggplant. The table adjacent also complained about the size of their chicken parma which did not match the photograph size advertised. Having said all that the staff were friendly and took on board our comments. I understand that there would be teething problems post lock down which The Exchange needs to address.

I'll start off by saying that the day we went in was a busy day as it gets as it was the last day of the 50% discount promotion, nice summer day and was a full house. Our experience started off not so great as we had issues with our food and drinks order which ultimately led to hungry, cranky kids Upon bringing this to the managers attention (Cam & Ryan) they immediately apologised and ensured our experience was turned around to a positive experience. The staff were accommodating and very friendly (even though it was busy) and Management followed up to ensure we were sorted throughout the night. Even when Cam shift had ended he came up to check on us. Oh the important thing you want to hear (other than the customer service). The food came and it was amazing. Great atmosphere Will recommend going here.⁰

Also few tables outside on footpath so you can watch world go by. Being close to the beach ocean smell is present if seating outside. Prices are competitive. Will see them again.

Beautiful day for Christmas! Went here for Christmas lunch and early birthday meal, we were booked in for the second sitting and when we arrived we were greeted by a lovely staff member explaining about our booking and that they had to set up our table so offered us a space upstairs where they had a glass of complimentary sparkling on arrival and a bartender for extra drinks, the space was lovely. When our table was ready we were seated and asked if we were ready for our set menu to start and if we would like any drinks. All the food tasted great and the portions were excellent, bartenders were there for us despite being really busy. Overall an amazing experience and a great way to spend Christmas. Thanks to all at The Exchange.

Ok, I have said this before and will say it again. The best chips I've ever had in my life. Other food is great too. Standard pub prices for drinks and food, but each weekday has something on special. Most staff is friendly and helpful. Only ever had issues once or twice with the staff, but it's hospitality. It can never be perfect, and I don't expect it to be. Do not miss out on the chips at this place!!!

Nice food and good atmosphere. Downside with some of the menu items being unavailable on a Saturday night and also a meal was forgotten for one of our party. The staff were very apologetic and did comp the meal which was great service. Would definitely recommend. Came back to the restaurant a month later for a family get together. The staff and service were absolutely phenomenal. The food was amazing to say the least. Josh the venue manager was fantastic. You honestly could not ask for better service this evening. We came here last night for my dad's 70th birthday. There were 17 adults and 13 kids. Nothing was too much trouble, colouring books and pencils for the kids, there sourced additional high chairs from local businesses and staff were so friendly from booking right through night. Meals came out quick and were absolutely delicious, service was excellent and everyone couldn't have talked more highly of our experience. Thank you so much!!

I took my family to The Exchange Hotel for my birthday as I had been given a voucher at a work function. I booked a table via their web site but when we arrived we were told the booking had been made for the lounge and not the restaurant. This was a mistake with the booking engine because I followed thy link to make a restaurant booking and, in fact, there wasn't even thy option to book the lounge. Fortunately, there was a table available and they set it for us. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with super comfortable chairs but is spoiled by the fact there is no separation from the bar next door and even at 08:00pm on a Saturday night, there was a loud and rowdy group in the pub, which spoiled the atmosphere in the restaurant. All four of us ordered steaks and all of us complained the steaks were over-seasoned and too salty. Even I found mine too salty and I usually add salt to everything I eat! At the end of the meal, we presented the voucher and were told it was invalid and we were asked if we had already used it elsewhere (we hadn't). Eventually the manager told us she trusted us and processed it. We had really been looking forward to the meal there but overall we were very underwhelmed.

The Exchange Beach Club is so good. Finally an establishment that is trying to do something great for Melbourne's beaches. Thanks to the City of Port Phillip for giving this the thumbs up! Finally a council that is progressive and brave enough to give this a go. Longer for next year I hope!!

Worth dropping in! Nice happy vibes, good menu reasonably priced. Extensive Bar menu also and wine selection. Nice and ambient attracting good crowds (no idiots). Staff are friendly and helpful. Food portions are generous and service is quick and easy. Huge function rooms and stage, can only imagine what it might be like in evenings. No doubt lots of fun, will have to check it out later. Thanking Eimear for making my visit special. She was friendly and took the time to make recommendations and arrange my seating with care. Staff like this make a huge difference with respect to first impressions and the desire to return. The bar was a little sticky, I thought could have done with a wipe down, other than that... everything was clean and tidy. I did enjoy the high celiengs and look of the open fire places. I would enjoy it in winter no doubt! Satistified!
