We had a private lunch function here - the 2 things that made me want to give them a review were: 1. FOOD was excellent, we had the sharing menu as we were a large group - so 3 courses. All great, standouts were the oysters, beef main dish and the onion rings (old fashion surprise, but sooo good!). 2. as we had the private dining room, we had 1 dedicated serving staff, and that was Selena, and she looked after us SO well, she was helpful , personable and went out of her way to make us all comfortable. Overall a positive experience and positive comments from all our guests too!

One of my favourite bars & restaurants in the area; where all the action is but not too loud and crowded. I’ve dined here before and can say the food is top notch. The Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel were very accommodating for our slightly larger group. We still booked in advance and they we’re fast to contact me regarding enquires of my booking. We shared a lovely meal amongst friends in the bar area which was easy to order and relatively fast service. The atmosphere and mood was low lit and ambient, very nice for the relaxed casual atmosphere we were after will definitely be back again and would highly recommend for group bookings or even a romantic dinner for two. Beautiful atmosphere, lovely staff. Thanks for a great evening!

Our group booked the Cellar room for a long Sunday lunch (on mothers day which can be the most hectic day of the year)..... Needless to say we had the BEST afternoon.....service was good, food on point together with some cracking beers and a cracking wine list - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (hope we were not to loud!!) Special shout out to Roger....front of house is no easy gig and he nailed it If you want the full experience of good food, great service and a beverage list to match the vibe this is the place to go... Beautiful inside and outside venue. A great representation of old Melbourne architecture and good design. Yummy diverse menu of meals in an ambient, low noise, environment. Well spaced dining area with comfortable seating and well maintained tables and chairs. Warm lighting. Friendly, down to earth staff who are well presented, well trained and and helpful. I highly recommend this venue for any gathering or when you want a satisfying meal, day or evening.

Dined here tonight for a belated Father's Day dinner. We really enjoyed our experience as the food and atmosphere was great. But most of all, we loved our waiter, Blair, who was absolutely outstanding. He knew the menu very well and was highly attentive. Will definitely come back.

An excellent meal. The food was great. The decor is amazing. Out Scottish waiter was attentive and helpful. The wine and craft beer selection is exceptional. It came to about $90 per head incl. tip. Which is reasonable give the quality of the food and service. We had a great time and will most certainly be back. They were also able yo accommodate for food intolerances, even asked about them while handing out menus, which is not only good service, avoids the awkwardness of someone having to ask about substitutions. Most importantly the steaks were cooked perfectly to rare - medium rare as asked for. A skill long lost in most places today.

Haven’t been to this place for ages. I’ve found out they have a steak night on Wednesday. Steak was damn delicious and totally worth it! Definitely would come back again .. especially for the steak night again :)

Had an absolutely brilliant meal here tonight after endlessly calling booked out restaurants to get a table for a meal. Luckily we found this place, all we had to do was google best gastropubs and this came straight up! Unfortunately we were sat in a corner right next to the front door, but that may come down to a last minute booking. Furthermore, we did wait around 40-50 mins from ordering before the food came, but service from our waiter was impeccable and she was extremely apologetic. Steak was brilliant, my friends trotters were wonderful and the brussels sprouts were great too. I will be back, I like the condensed menu, it still gives great variety of option and I really want to try the fish they have on the menu!

The place was pretty quiet for a Friday night which was a shame! It has quite a nice interior and a good vibe to the place and the staff were friendly. We ordered a few starters (beetroot dish was one) and then got some steaks and the baby snapper. The food was all pretty good (starters were okay-ish) with the highlight being the steaks which were cooked nicely and tasted really great. Overall, not a bad place to go to, slightly on the pricey side but if you are looking for a steak which aren't rockpool prices this is a place to check out.

The purpose of my visit was to have lunch with a friend. The staff were friendly and courteous. The ambiance was great and inviting. However, the restaurant menu was over-complicated, expensive and difficult to interpret. I ordered a dish that was described as a salad on the menu, and all that came out were a few peppers and some cheese. The dish was of very high quality, but definitely not worth the price. I probably won't visit here again and I don't think I'd recommended this venue to my friends.

You can order the full menu at the bar or your choice of 2 dining rooms one a converted courtyard is bright the other a more classic room with fireplace and giant mirror over the mantle. All informal. Highly recommend if your after a great steak.

What a terrific venue! The decor, table layout, menu and service are all first rate. It's the kind of place that, once you visit, it invites you back. Its just so comfortable and pleasant. Good drinks selection and some very tasty food to be had here. The food prices aren't particularly cheap and the serving sizes not massive, but the meals our group ordered were all delicious. Can I give 2.5 stars? Heard good things about the steaks here, but I've easily had better. Service was great BUT I think something went wrong with our order, as we waiting a 30-40mins for our mains after our entrees were taken away. I had to chase them up for it and suddenly the kitchen staff were up and running again (we sat right outside where the kitchen is). They did apologise a few times, even when we paid the bill at the bar, claiming they were busy blah blah. But I don't buy it. Honestly, I wouldn't return.

The Town Hall is a gem, the venue consists of several areas including a relaxed front bar, light filled atrium, dining room and more. Our group enjoyed the atrium and snacked on charcuterie (rather than the full dining menu) but noticed that both bar and dining menus are available in the bar if desired. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced and the staff are welcoming and efficient. We will definitely return to sample more of the menu.

Love this venue each dining space feels like a completely different place. From local pub, casual outdoor to contemporary dining all serviced by the same awesome kitchen helmed by head chef's Sean Donovan and Anna Quayle. Chef Donovan you may know if you have dined at Footscary's Station Hotel before. Wednesday is steak night at the venue and it is seriously good value for the $18 price tag, paired with your choice of reasonably priced red ($12-14 glass) and away you go. It does pay to listen to the host's, as the specials of the night are awesome as well but if you want to go off the menu you can't go wrong with the la boqueria roasted corn kernels. Most parking in the area finishes around 6-7pm on the side streets and be careful parking Infront because a traffic clearway until 6pm is in effect, so as always pay attention to the signs.

Nice place! We manage to get a table in the restaurant area (behind the pub area), the setting is great (a bit of French and English atmospheres). The staff is fairly friendly and the service is pleasant. The food is not fine-dining but more into well-executed pub food (Toulouse sausages, fish and chips and wagyu beef are tasty); same for desserts. I would definitely go back to the restaurant (the pre-booked Chateaubriand sounds promising for next time) and would definitely advise people to do so. On the bad side is the noise when the restaurant area is full.

Good food and ambience. Poor customer service. One of our group is allergic to coriander. It was not listed on the menu as being used in the lamb shoulder dish. When we complained to the manager John he was not helpful.

We had our 16th Annual Long Lunch. Group of 16, plus another group of 20 who we knew. We were in the attrium with a glass ceiling, I was a bit concerned before hand as it was 36 degrees celcius outside and I thought it might be like a glasshouse. But their aircon was excellent and we didn't feel the heat. Great food, they are known for their meat, we had the share meat platters and loved them. After lunch we hung out at the bar till 8:30pm before the next venue. As I said, it's a long lunch.
