The Joint had many transitions and so far it's not its worst phase. They really should improve on the choice of DJs as the music is pretty repetitive and stale. Besides that, the prices are good and the atmosphere isn't too bad as there is a large smoking area as well. If you wanna go out and get a heap of drinks for cheap, it's a great place to go to. They have two pool tables and bathrooms as well. Large balcony that can accommodate a decent number of people. A very convenient location as well as it's surrounded by places to eat and Flinders Street station itself! Easy place to suss

Since the reno the joint has a really nice new flair! The drinks are still cold and cheap but the kitchen really really got an upgrade!!! We had a parma, and usually bar/club parma's are average at best, the parma we got here was fantastic! Great flavour and seasoning, obviously could tell freshly handmade in house and the chips were crisp and nicely seasoned too. All in all a great experience The terrace overlooking Elizabeth street is the highlight though

Nice food, nachos could be a little more refined with home made salsa, more beans and less sour cream, but overall very nice. Lovely staff and nice environs. Silly to have the smoking a non-smoking area is right next to each other outside. Smoking areas that now passé.

The female toilets were upstairs and male were down, I appreciate the thought that went into this idea as females generically are born to have fitter leg muscles. Apon entering the female bathrooms there were three stalls, number one was full of toilet paper and had no light, number two had no door, number 3 the lid was closed so it was risky. After much debate I decided to go with number one, the toilet didn't flush well and it was super embarrassing and the floor was wet. Afterwards I went down stairs and enjoyed a delightful long Island iced tea! (:

There’s also some karaoke night I don’t even remember when but is cool and people got crazy there. Is nice if you visit with some friends and just drink some beers... ho and they have billiards! The stuff is really friendly and they have such great karaoke nights on every Tuesday. I have had so many great times in this place. Also the Halloween party last year was the most fun one I was invited to in Melbourne.

I go reguarly on a Monday for Trivia and I love it, friendly staff, amazing host and fantastic food and drinks at cheap prices. I attend Saturday nights to dance (free entry is awesome) and it's peak time is 11-1am. Music is usually pretty good but has has a few off nights. So this and a few little mistakes with food or regularly getting new staff (though it is also a backpackers bar) is what drops a star but I still love it and will continue attending for a long time coming.

This was meant to be the backpackers haven. The pricing suggests otherwise. Still the staff are friendly and service is good at lunchtime. They do have a range of specials so do look for those and if they fit this does make it better value.

Perfect to go out, have a drink and dance. The prices are okay. A smoking area, billiard and dancefloor. Often it's getting crowded at about 12pm/1am. I like it. 4 stars just because the balcony closes at 11pm and it's not possible to have a good chat with the lound music inside, except when you are in the smoking area..

Its pretty cheap but then its also more of the lower end bars. Its a cheap backpacker bar basically which is fine but if your looking for a nice or pleasant chill atmosphere than this isn't really the best place. The food is nice and like i said cheap drinks. Pool table and dj. Please be aware that this is a CASH ONLY BAR. No cards at all are acceptable

Awesome bar the only problem is they are CASH ONLY! So remember to take your money, there is a Westpac ATM right downstairs. Drinks are pretty reasonably priced for a city location - 8.50 for basic spirits The big deck outside is beautiful on a sunny day or warm night

A really well maintained bar having its own standards where smokers have their special arena to smoke and people who is fond of enjoying the outside view from the gallery of The Joint Bar. Moreover, the staff present in the bar is very friendly and their customer service is good as well. Cheers.

Its a backpackers bar that seems to have very few backpackers. Drink service was slow even though when it shouldnt have been. Escalators that take you up to the bar were either switched off or out of order. All in all id say there are nicer backpacker bars around and certainly much nicer bars around the area.

Cheap drinks and a half decent terrace for smoking and enjoying jugs. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the escalators work! I’ve been here to watch footy and to enjoy some comedy shows. There’s a hostel above so it does attract a young, rowdy crowd. Gets a bit fighty after dark.

You get to the Joint Bar by climbing the broken down escalators - and that sort of describes this place - a bit tired and rough around the edges, but the staff are friendly, the bar food is good, drinks are cheap and there is a big outside deck area which is bathed in warn afternoon sun. If that's your style - it's worth a visit.
