Comments of The Lomond Hotel
C. B.
Friendly local pub that’s not trying to be more than it is. Great food offering and what you’d expect but not gastronomic. Lots of little tucked away spaces to enjoy and a large outdoor space for the kids to run around in + dog friendly.
M. M.
This place is great. It has lots of different areas for you to choose. The bistro area, the pub area, the back yard area, the sports room. The staff is very friendly as well. The food was delicious. I heard they have live music most of the nights which is great. I'll come back and try other stuffs from the menu.
A. B.
Amazing service and delightful food!!!! Mina is great, italian service at its best. It feels like being at home. Great selection of desserts too. support locals and go and meet them , you won't be disappointed.
S. F.
Fantastic pub, great meals, good food selection, and really looking forward to the live music when covid restrictions permit!
P. F.
Ate in the bistro section for dinner. Reasonably priced meals and good portions. Steaks were cooked as requested and the main overall was tasty. Only slightly bad aspect was the Kilpatrick oysters which had so much bacon and Worcester sauce that we couldn't taste the oysters (possibly deliberately).
Good alcohol choice however there's no menu because it keeps changing. Service was friendly but frantic as there was only one waitress who was run off her feet.
Would return.
I.
Popped in for a beer and to watch the cricket. Friendly, beer was cold, cricket was on. I was happy. Live music venue so that's a binus. Will be back to try the food!

I have a real like/hate relationship with this place. It's close to home (so I'm biased) but also I really like the staff, the vibe, the live music.
The kitchen, though - killing me! Most of the menu is "a bit" to "a lot" over-priced for the quality. My main gripe, though, is the mash. I like mash and dislike chips. I know that if I order a steak/schnit special, anywhere, I'll be charged extra for mash, fine. But this kitchen (which appears to operate separately) charges $4 for the mash change. Ouch. But on top of that, it's not just on Special Night. I've ordered full priced meals and still been charged $4 to replace chips with mash. And if you think that's no big deal, check out my photo to see how much mash $4 gets you.
I like you, Lomond. I really do. But this mash situation has driven a wedge between us! I have a chip on my shoulder, I admit it. If you weren't so close... I'd probably see ya 'tater.
I. N.
Great little pub. Has pool table, little outdoor area where you can connect your phone to the speakers and listen to your own music. Free pint on Tuesdays for locals 👌🏼
I. W.
Great live music (Oriel Glennen, Rose Bygrave + guitarist, and Darren Jack), friendly local pub vibe, good meals, and Coopers Stout available - lots to love about this pub!
W. Z.
if I were to design and dream of the perfect pub - this is it.
m.
Absolute hidden gem of a pub for bands. Unbelievable quality of music night to night. And as an Irish man it’s hard to find a good pint of Guinness in Melbourne so you generally head to Irish pubs but only 2/3 around worth talking about. This place is honestly the best pint of Guinness I’ve had in Melbourne and last time I was here was six years ago and it was the same quality. Fabulous!!
E. M.
This is a great pub. Great local vibe and delicious food. Can’t wait until we can go back again.
A. M.
Good conversation location. In the vibe aura of RRR. Canned music pleased. Sadly missing PA etc. IE Waiting for live music to return. Guinness available. Friendly bar staff. Would go back for a yak.
J. B.
Fantastic pub! Good pub food at very, very reasonable prices. The pub has a lovely, homely atmosphere and the live music was brilliant!!!
Overall this pub is a lot of fun in the best ways a pub is fun and very reasonably priced. A top notch local!
Parking is available at the rear and in the surrounding streets.
S. T.
It’s eccentric as all get out and that’s why I love it. Chat with the regulars, be nice to the bar staff, show off your good manners. It’s old school.
Quality food made by the matriarch, and her son is the publican, who is genuinely welcoming. There are many pubs closer to my home but I consider this to be my local. The more I go, the more it feels like my home away from home.
Add to this the fabulous array of local, interstate and international musicians with no cover fee and you have the best pub in Melbourne, if not the country.
S. C.
Decent little pub for a quiet drink.
J. S.
Best country style pub in Melbourne, especially if you happen to be Irish. Live music, great food and family run. Public transport at the door. Food excellent. Run by James, such a pleasant man.
P. H.
Lovely meals, prompt service, nice drinks. Plus we had some good craic from the fiddlers & flautist playing Irish tunes.
G. S.
I love this pub! Been many times when I was living in Brunswick. Great food and friendly staff. I feel home every time. So cozy to sit by the fire having a pint of beer or a red wine. I will miss this place for sure!
I. S.
Went there from CBD on Tram (Literally right outside) to have Sunday dinner and listen to live band.
Wasn't disappointed.
Good relaxed/casual setup - mixed clientele, band was great (actually better than i thought they might be..), got a table, had dinner and a drink, caught the tram back to CBD.
All round, a great night!
Would recommend it.
B. P.
Great old school pub. Always good music, service and atmosphere.
D. N.
In my opinion the best pub in Melbourne! Whether for a sports game out back, the great beer selection on tap, the very eclectic no-frills crowd, the wonderful bands week after week, or the chill yet pleasant crew (and amazing owner that is James)- Cheers for a great time, every time!
R. R.
Great selection of craft beer on tap, a good vibe in the place, with friendly locals and lots of nice spaces to sit. Food is quite good and there's always something interesting happening on the live music front. A relaxing place to eat and drink and enjoy yourself.
A. W.
Classic Aussie pub, popular with locals and serving decent Aussie pub fair. Nice atmosphere and comfortable dining experience. Staff were friendly and had personality, and they knew the menu. Will be back!
M. M.
The city pub with a country feel. Roll out the live music and it will be bliss. Great food, great staff and great oil people.
S. R.
Great pub with tasty, well priced food. One of my favourite places to visit and have a meal while listening to some good music. Well worth a visit.
M. L.
Loved the live music and cosy surrounds. It is a no frills pub with a friendly atmosphere. Dining room is a bit fancier but good variety of pub meals available in general bar. Quaint and easy to find as it is the next to the last stop using tram 96.
P. W.
Some of the best live music you could see anywhere in an inclusive atmosphere with friendly bar service. The beer garden/smoking area has a nook where you can connect your phone to the sound system to share your tunes. It could become your second loungeroom.
C. H.
Cozy pub most nights of the week with a nice quiet dining room. The front bar packs out on Friday evening when live bands play. There is a cute beer garden around the back, some unambient street seating on busy Nicholson St or the porch where smokers usually go. Food is good and not too expensive. Monday nights you can get a pint of bee for $8.
There is a TAB gaming room which you can easily ignore as it is separated from the rest of the pub and there's also a drive through bottle shop.
S. I.
Great Atmosphere. The Oysters were lovely and fresh. Enjoyed Sweet Potato Croquettes with Salad and sauce dressing was delicious. The staff at the Lomond Hotel were friendly. The Shanty Town were absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended AAAAA+++++
P. W. (.
Super comfy and friendly. A little bit of a rabbit warren so no problem finding your favorite corner to chill with friends or solo.
Good food and bar prices and friendly staff with a locals kind of scene.
M. E.
One of the old school pubs that hasn't lost its charm. Good beers, great bands, traditional pub meals, weird addition of buttered white bread with the oysters was hilarious, but friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
L. L.
Hit and miss. Sometimes good sometimes not. Had a few great reasonably priced meals, had one or 2 not so great. Some of the staff lovely and helpful, some not quite as attentive. The live music is ok, not fantastic
S. E.
Pretty bloody wonderful pub. Lovely staff, good prices and committed to live music.
C. M.
Great food and beer selection. A lovely venue for live music including the weekly acoustic session - Lomond Acoustica each Wednesday.
E. R.
Melbourne’s favourite live music venue this side of the Yarra! The chicken schnitzel was tasty and service was good. The music is fun too. Support live music😀
D. W.
The Lomond Hotel is a true country pub in Melbourne city, run by the same family for 25 years. If you like a great high quality country style pub meal this is the place for you. The Lomond has a second menu for their restaurant also for a wonderful fine dining experience with matching wines recommended on the menu. The head chef's are the owners so your sure to recieve meals of high standards.
The bar is managed by James (also an owner) and his three sons and mulitple other friendly bar staff, the staff do make an effort to have a chat and remember your name.
Live music five times a week, and we are talking about a true Irish session on Tuesday night, Americana old timey music on Sat arvo till 8.30 pm, and a mix of country, soul, cabaret, R&B, rock plus more styles (check out the Lomond website for gig guide with styles listed).
What can I say, I love this pub, it is a trully friendly local with the best Guinness on tap (there are heaps of regulars that drink it so you are sure do recieve the perfect pint every time), also on tap are standard Aussie beers as well as micro brewery beers and cider!
S. S.
Food was good. Bar section definitely looks like it's is in need of a good clean and update.
J. P.
Great little local pub. Welcoming locals and good selection of beers on tap too!
J. M.
Great old school local pub. Cosy little bistro in sode room to main bar if you want to eat a little fancier. Gourmet pub meals friendly family service, live music
R. W.
The Lomond Hotel is a Brunswick tradition. An affordable range of quality meals and most nights there is high quality music for free. I have been going there for over twenty years and recommend it as a night out to my friends.
M. M.
Fantastic pub, with great beers and great food. Be sure to check it out on a Tuesday night because sometimes they have the irish band playing which is an absolutely incredible sound!
D. C.
A great old school pub with good food and good people in a superb location. Also right across the road from Triple R radio station so go see some live music then jump across to the Lomond for a meal. Winner.
C. D.
Great food, friendly helpful staff (Hello Mina!) and a fantastic live music venue for small groups. What a service to the local community and to music.
f.
Usually a local best, today a bit let down. Cook your chips proper, I'm paying for the other good food happily (restaurant side, cause it had a good menu) why must you stuff up such a simple task, chips, why!
J. H.
This is the only place I've been to that has a truly local atmosphere. It is unique and special among pubs in Melbourne.
C. A.
Great pub, quality food and great selection of drinks. Staff always friendly and helpful. Awesome for live music too.
L. G. L.
We had a family wake here a few days ago and management and staff were so accommodating. We set up an ad-hoc band in the courtyard and danced, podium style, all night. They allowed our grieving process to happen without restriction. Thanks to all the staff there.
L. C.
Quick service and reasonable prices. The Chicken Parma accompanied with a Cider was a real treat!
S. G.
The Lomond Hotel, Have great menu for the Public Bar as well as a Dinning Room. They also have Music /Bands in the Publlc Bar (No Fees) Free Entrance - To listen and see the bands.
S. M.
Friday early evening; smooth sounds as the 4 pce Jazz band played over dinner and beer jug specials you cannot refuse.
Fire was welcoming, so too the polite team that run the bar.
Its Saturday arvo and now, its been a few hours knocking back a few pots in the cooler enviroment of the pub, just as we all decide to leave because ots been cold the fire finally is lit.
Shame the fire place(s) wasnt on earlier, we would have stayed for anther tremendous meal.
Yes, we will be coming back.
H. G.
Excellent all round place in terms of service, quality and atmosphere. That big lettuce out the back gets me every time. Five stars!!!!
G. D.
Great friendly pub with surprisingly good food and local music every Wednesday night. Fantastic!!
R. W.
Gobsmacked. Effervescent. Rambunctious. A few of the feelings I experienced during my evening tenure at the Lomond Hotel. What a tour-de-force of beverage-imbibing, a lucid powerhouse of raw experience. I highly recommend this establishment.
j.

Today I ate a delicious vegetable medley with a spicy, chilly sauce and rice with fresh beansprouts on top with one glass of Carlton and a couple of glasses of water.Nice, friendly atmosphere and fireplaces for cosy winter dining, wooden floors and old worldy appeal to this pub.Had a $5 "flutter" on the gi-gis but did not win....an enjoyable time.Glad I took tram in opposite direction to home cos travelling on an empty stomach is not good...Yesterday a complete stranger had kindly given me $20 so it was his generosity that funded my meal and drink.Cheers and thankyou to him for being such a gentleman♡!

(Translated) For dinner, I ate Melbourne Palm chicken Palma at a pub called The Lomond Hotel. There are many pubs named Hotel in Melbourne, and it is always crowded with locals.
The Lomond Hotel is also a pub loved by locals with few tourists. From the city centre, take tram number 96 and get off at Blyth St / Nicholson St. It will take about 35 minutes. The pub is right in front of you.
Melbourne's famous chicken palma is simply a thin chicken cutlet topped with tomato sauce and cheese and baked in the oven. It's less oily than I expected, so it's easy to eat.
It's a little far from the center of the city, but it's a nice pub, so be sure to visit.
