Comments of TRAPT Bar & Escape Rooms
M. L.
My friends and I come here so often because of how amazing the experience and staff are! We smashed out three escape rooms, all so much fun and awesomely designed! Laura and Jack made the experience so incredible and truly went above and beyond for us! The cocktails are delicious and the vibe is perfect! Would so so so recommend to anyone!
E. G.
A great escape room. With friendly and great staff. Easy to book and a challenging to get the room done in time then a bar to get some drinks after you win or fail. No matter would be a great time and shall return to have a go at another rol.
W. J.
Was my first time visiting Trapt for escape rooms. There staff were both friendly and professional.
They have quite an eclectic drinks menu all themed to the escape rooms which they have running.
They were all quite tasty despite us ordering by name, not what was actually in the drinks.
I. C.
When our plans changed, we decided to try an escape room… So glad we did. The staff were incredibly helpful and my daughter absolutely loved the experience. We will be back.
M. R.
Jack and Laura are literally the best employees ever and all the staff are lovely and accommodating! We had the best time ever and the escape rooms were so much fun. Would definitely recommend 100%

We came on a Tuesday night (relatively quiet) and asked for the hardest room, and were given Espionage. Room setup was good, except props were a little dated. Clues we're good, not too hard but required problem solving. Service was friendly but we did have an issue with the walkie talkies so e didn't end up asking for clues except at the very end because the final clue "ran out of battery". Overall a good experience ideal for 4 players.

Such a nice vibe! Room was challenging but I’m also kind of dumb. Laura and Izzy were great and they made great cocktails. Highly recommend.
B. S.
The staff are amazing and the escape room we did was a great experience, especially the bonus puzzles.
M. G.
Really cool atmosphere with the underground bar being a step above other escape rooms, rooms themselves are great with there being baseline escapes & the option of doing extra puzzles to reveal more as well as lovely staff (Lauren & Michael). Will be back!
M. D.
This escape room was really well designed. I like the atmosphere and the construction of the rooms. It was definitely a fun experience. I did find the clues to be easy (though, to be fair, I've done a lot of escape rooms) and there weren't many clues needed to get through. Maybe other rooms would be different and I'd still come back due to the creativity of the clues.
E. H.
Had a great night! The Wizard of Oz room was fantastic. Wonderful cocktails and even better staff - huge shoutout to Laura.
J. H.
Great to be out having fun in the city post lockdown!
Our hosts Jack and Laura were very friendly and guided us just the right amount!
Thank you for a fabulous night! 🍸

Me and my partner had never done an escape room before so didn't know what to expect. The staff at TRAPT we're extremely friendly and super helpful! Staff members Jack and Laura really looked after us and made our experience absolutely amazing :)
We did the Cave In room upon recommendation from the team as it would best suit our skill level, which we really appreciated. We really had the BEST time! The room itself was super fun and the bar was a great place to debrief afterwards.
10/10 experience! Can't say enough nice things about it. Thanks again to Jack and Laura!

Funky little place to go too for a drink or an escape room ( I can’t comment on the rooms as I have been in one ) but the bar was great! Loved the bar tenders on the night we went they were very friendly and loved a good joke ! What I really loved about this place was the set up , old leather armchairs and sofas , Baird games - If your looking for a groovy , chill bar away from the crowd- would definitely recommend the place !
S. D.
I did the S.P.A.C.E. room with a group of 5 people and had a fun time. The staff were lovely and helpful, although the way they delivered extra clues was by coming in-person into the escape room and explaining things which we found kind of broke the immersiveness of the experience. The room wasn't as immersive or polished as other escape rooms I have done and could use a re-vamp. The room was as challenging as it claimed to be, although some things were challenging because they did not make much sense rather than just being tricky puzzles. Overall, okay but there are definitely better escape rooms out there particularly if you are after a bit of theatrics and full immersion in the room.
L. P.
I took my (older teenage)niece and nephew to the Alchemy themed escape room, it was fantastic. The room was challenging and we all had a lot of fun working through the clues. The staff were helpful, fun and very friendly.
We will definitely be back for more rooms and highly recommend this activity.

Fun experience Escape Rooms!
Trapt offers a decent range of different escape rooms at differing levels for patrons.
The bar and aesthetics are very nice, very engaging game rooms!
Staff are friendly and helpful!
Thanks for a great night out! (My friends n I will be back for the other rooms soon!)
M. J.
Had a great Sunday night out at Trapt! We decided to book in 2 escapes rooms which ended up being 3 rooms as we were having such a great time and they had room to fit us in for one more. All the rooms we did were very different and had their quirks. For the bits that we just couldn't figure out, Jack and Rory looked after us so we could finish off the rooms. The cocktail menu is amazing and I would come there just to have a few on a night out! Will definitely return for another night of escaping in the future.

Warm and relaxed place with welcoming staff. The quality of rooms, puzzles and equipment is well maintained and better than many competitors. We did Cave in and look forward to Alchemy in the coming months.
M. A.
As escape room experiences go trapt is great for a social outing. The waiting area has a well equipped bar and very comfy seats for catching up before or after the escape room, although with a full house it could get a bit noisy. The room itself was a well crafted challenge and providing an immersive experience, without being too tough. Looking forward to trying additional challenges here.
S. W.
Team of 4 played. Super fun. Also had some great cocktails after
M. B.
Brilliant fun. Some very clever puzzles in a variety of themed rooms. Attached bar allows you to have a drink and talk through your adventures with your teammates.
Make sure you get a variety of different thinking skills in your team!
R. 7.
Had a great time! Fun and challenging experience. Well put together room. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and create a fun, easy going environment for the escape rooms and the bar. Will definitely be back to beat one of the rooms!!☺️
D. R.
Always great visiting these guys! I have been a few times now and they have been accommodating and fun. The drinks are great and cleverly themed. The room we did was one of the most difficult but had a lot of fun figuring it out. Highly recommend!
S. A.
Had a delightful mid-week experience ( trying to escape their Alchemy room) with no rush. The puzzles were interesting and some would not folllow your every day logic, but great fun all the same. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Even the bar looks fancy, although we didnt stay for a drink, but surely worth a visit next time.
P.
Great, friendly staff, fun themed, challenging rooms but never feeling too frustrating or unsolvable. Would highly recommend for escape room enthusiasts, might be challenging for first timers. Jack the staff member was particularly friendly.
L. C. K.
Great atmosphere, friendly bar staff. Games master Aiden was awesome and puts on a great english accent. Can't wait for the prohabition room to open!
M. B.
It was a great experience. And what a way to celebrate our staff Xmas party
S.
Had a great time at Trapt. We did the Alchemy room which was challenging but fun. The cocktails we had at the bar were really nice too and it was nice to relax in the bar after doing the escape room.
L. L.
Really fun! The people working there are really lovely and friendly too!
S. W.
This place was so much fun!!! Big shout out to Laura and Michael for their witty bar banter :)))
Z.
We had really good experience when we went. The room was fun and really mind blowing with all the codes and stuff. Highly recommended
I. J.
Laura was amazing and our group had so much fun :)
N. W.
I just did the alchemy at home experience, and it was amazing! Definitely well worth it, a lot of fun with very interesting puzzles, and our host on zoom did an awesome job guiding us through. The combination of internet and in room puzzles, made the at home experience even better. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who was interested and likes escape rooms!
T. V.
Friendly staff and a good level of challenge in the rooms.
Will be returning soon.
B. G.
Staff were very friendly and got into the experience with each escape room. Being able to have a cocktail whilst waiting for your booking or after completing an escape room was great. The setting is very nice with comfy lounges to enjoy the experience.
We completed the Alchemy escape room and it was pretty well put together. Couple of areas that could do with a little upkeep but this is probably expected with regular use by the public.
M. T.
Best experience!!! Made extra special thanks to the amazing staff - Jamie, Rory and Benji. Jamie - the all knowing magical guide, Rory with the sweet elixirs to make your night and Benji with that can do sweet attitude. If you’re looking for a night to remember, this is the place!
R. B.
Attempted the space themed escape room and my partner and I were definitely put to the test! This room also has a part two if you manage to escape the already intensely difficult first part. Really enjoyed that this escape room was more techy than others I have attempted. The bar has some really cool themed cocktails as well as some classic board games to keep you entertained and fire up the brain while you're waiting. The staff are also really friendly and willing to assist if/when required.
A. P.
Rory, Jamie and Benji are absolute legends!
Entertaining, professional and passionate. Escape room made me feel smart, which I'm not. First time doing it and would definitely come back again!
J. D. B.
Amazing experience! A small group of us went for a friend’s birthday and did the Alchemy room. Our host was Jamie and she was fantastic. She really set the scene and helped us when we needed throughout the whole experience. The escape room was fun and challenging. We were so impressed that we’re already planning our next escape room!!
L. G.
Cocktails were to die for its amazing how each trapt room had their own signature cocktails! The room itself was tricky but still exciting. Definitely coming back!
K. K.
Love escape rooms? TRAPT has it all. Complicated puzzles, mind boggling codes, and themed decor in every room that truly makes the entire experience just that much better. Book ahead to avoid the crowds.
S. B.
We spent about 6.5 hours here doing all rooms and we had the best time! Hands down the best atmosphere and staff in an escape room we have experienced. The staff were beyond amazing. Jack, Rory, Violet, Jamie and Matt made this time so great! We also did the Halloween popup game. Perfect idea for the Halloween week, super unique! We will definitely return on our next trip to Melbourne.
J. L.
We did the Alchemy room and had a lot of fun. The design of the room was great and we loved the traditional looking puzzles. It was a little short and since we finished it with half the time still left, we gave the Space room a go. Space is a lot more difficult but rewarding when you finally start unlocking things. Unfortunately since it has more technology based tools, they're less responsive and one of the computers glitched (failed) on us right before the escape so we had to call for help. The bar area has a great ambiance and most of the hosts are pleasant. Would go again to try their other rooms.
E. S.
Geeking. The hell. Out. 😍
No spoilers. So well done. Good surprises and just difficult enough for a newbie!!
A. B.
Recently did the Wizard of Oz room here, our group found it quite difficult even though we consider ourselves to be experienced escape room participants. This is a good thing though as we got far enough through it that we still felt satisfied by the experience. Cocktails beforehand were very tasty. We have completed 2 other rooms here at Trapt and all three have been great, you really can't go wrong here.
G. P.
YES YES YES!
My friend and I walked in to see if we could get into any available escape room and the staff were so hospitable, friendly and funny.
We had such a blast here I do recommend coming here with any of your mates who enjoy a good riddle or puzzle. the atmosphere is cosy, warm feeling, we came during the day so i cant comment on the night time atmosphere, but it seems like a great place to hang, day or night.
J. F.
This was amazing! 4 of us did Alchemy tonight and escaped it with 4 minutes to spare 😁😁 we were so proud of ourselves! The staff were super lovely and nice and very quick to respond the two times we needed a hint. We were all raving about it on the car trip home and all of us want to try another room soon! For our first escape room experience it was perfect!
J. D.
Great vibe. They've created an 'speakeasy' feel. Staff were really friendly, helpful. We did 'Espionage' and were beginners but they gave us a helpful timeframe to follow so that we could ask for clues at the right time if needed. It looked super basic at the beginning but loved that there was more than meets the eye. We still managed to underestimate our time yet were so close to finishing. I think what made it so enjoyable is that they still gave us a little more time to finish since we were so close! It would've been really frustrating otherwise. Overall a great experience. Would try their other rooms!
T. C.
Was here with a group of friends and we all had a great time. The staff were friendly and helpful. The escape room we participated in was challenging and had everyone working together as a team. Overall had alot of fun and would definitely come back to participate in other rooms that are available.
B. S.
Love this place. Has a great feel and the decor is awesome. The staff are always super helpful and nice. A must go to in Melbourne, the best escape rooms i have ever been to.
*Edit* We just went again and had Jack as our escape host in Space. He was amazing and super helpful. Also we got our space badge!!!
T. G.
Had a great time at Trapt tonight. This is my third time back at this venue and the rooms and staff are always great. Jack was our room guide tonight, not only were his clues simple to follow, but he was super fun and an excellent hype man. Highly recommend for a night out!
J. W.
I had no idea what to expect!!
When my friends invited me to an escape room I was a little nervous; i'm not very good a puzzles, and i suffer from severe social anxiety. One of the staff members (JAMIE), made me feel so comfortable, and gave me the confidence to let loose and have some fun!! Will definitely come back, drinks were great, staff was AMAZING. Thanks Jamie!
V. N.
We had a great first time , we did the alchemy room and had lots of fun. The staff were helpful with hints and friendly except the Asian girl who was rude. I'm not sure why she is in the service industry if she can't be bothered being friendly. Really sour start to the Escape room adventure.
I'd recommend this place for a different day out. Cosy place to drink before you start.
A. E.
Great bar, cozy and chilled. The escape room was great. We did the espionage room. It was quite challenging, we almost completed it. The rooms and decorations were good, some items were for decoys I guess. Last puzzle was a bit hard, a little more extra time would be good. Overall would totally go back.
P. G.
Fun family experience. Quite tricky puzzles. Limited timed adds to the anxiety. The puzzles appear very cryptic at the start but in hindsight are very logical. That is the fun because how one can mess up a simple clue through pressures of time.
Tip is to enjoy the experience and not worry about the clock. Keep eyes wide open and no idea to solve puzzles is too strange. Don't discard any idea from anyone.
We solved the puzzle and that was a great sense of achievement.
J. D.
It was so much fun and the creators of the room are so nice and friendly. A must for just a nice date or fun group activity!
E. G.
Fantastic experience. First time escapists and had a blast. Puzzles interesting and staff so lovely. The bar is great, good for hanging around after the game or for a break between challenging the rooms. Definitely want to come back to try them all.
D.
We booked the Alchemy room for last night and it was a bit of a let down to be honest. Staff were super friendly from the start which was great but twice during our escape attempt our walkie talkie stopped working. We had to leave the room both times to wait for a staff member. I'd say it wasted close to 10 minutes which is a considerable chunk considering the overall time. Staff admitted it was a fault on their end but nothing was really done about it. The bar is cool but overall we left a bit dissapointed.
M. S.
A large group of friends (8 people total) did their Wizard of Oz room which features two teams and a joint finish. It was a very good puzzle room and had plenty to do, so it was quite fun. There was one small technical glitch at the very end, but we still technically won so it doesn't affect things too much. They have a bar there too with a large selection of alcohols available
R. G.
This was fun but almost impossible to complete. The escape room was entertaining but almost too hard to make it enjoyable. They should have different levels to choose from to make it entertaining and challenging. They should also allow more time because the escape room is rather over priced. It was $80 for 2 people for 45 minutes.
The drinks in the TRAPT bar were well crafted and beautifully presented. Their cocktail selection is harmonious with the different genres of escape room offered which was a nice touch. The lighting, furniture and overall vibe in the bar was great and I see myself coming here again just for the bar and not the escape room.
I. G.
Fantastic fun! We come for one escape room and ended up staying to do another as we had such a blast doing the first one! The staff were always helpful when we needed assistance, without giving too much away. The prison escape one was fairly easy, however the Cold War style escape room was hard! We had a lot of fun doing them and will definitely come back to finish them all!
S. H.
I went with the max amount of people (6) to do Wonderland for my birthday. We managed to do it with 40 seconds left on the clock. The game was challenging and took all 6 of us to work as a team and get through. It was fun but I think they need to employ some more staff.
The bar tender was also the main point of call for the games so he had to juggle both, which isn't really fair for him. We wanted to grab some drinks whilst we waited to play but he was so busy that we couldn't get any. We kept trying and finally got a couple of beers. After pouring them for us, he told us we only have ten minutes to drink them. If he had told us this before pouring we wouldn't have gotten them as we then had to swig them so quickly, it didn't feel relaxing at all. This made the experience a little frustrating for all of us.
The game was good although they could spend a little more money on the look and feel of the rooms as it feels like its lacking something compared to other escape rooms we've been to. The outside and bar area is beautiful though.
I would recommend Trapt if they got more staff to cater for both the bar and the games. I'm not trying to give a bad review I just want to give an honest one.
T. V.
A fun experience. The room was challenging, clever, and interesting. The reveal of the rooms multiple secrets was well designed. The employees were friendly, helpful, and accommodating of the entire group. We enjoyed their witty interactions.
R. C.
Had so much fun! We tried the alice room but didn't finish it. I feel that 45 minutes is too short. But otherwise staff are great, helpful and friendly and the room I did was very well done. Great idea for a girls night out or just with a group of friends. I would say you should do it with at least 4 people
M. D.
Great fun night. Staff were friendly and helpful when hints were required. The puzzles we're challenging. I only wish the rooms were a bit more decorated (we did SPACE). Recommended for a fun night out.
R. C.
Trapt Bar is a Fantastic place! My team and I came for a team building exercise and had so much fun! The staff were lovely and explained thoroughly what was going to happen, when we needed help they rushed in and helped!
The room was set up really well (we had the Dracula room) and we ended up escaping!
The bar has a great range of drinks and accepts card! A great experience that I will visit again!
C. W.
We had a blast in the Alchemy room for a birthday outing. We failed but it was harder than you think! Absolutely would be back to do another room, the staff were so lovely. Remember to arrive early to get the safety rundown and sign your forms!
A. D.
A friend and I were visiting Melbourne and heard about the Alchemy room. Decided to give it a go and had a lot of fun! The atmosphere is great and the matching cocktails delicious! Recommend the adults version of the Butterscotch Beer!
T. G.
The best escape rooms in Melbourne. We've been to a few around the city, but Trapt has been our favourite. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are smart and challenging, but realistically achievable. We did the alchemy room and fortunately there was no booking after us, so we were able to stay an extra 10 minutes.
M. W.
What is there to say about TRAPT that hasn't been said by the other 3 and below star reviews?
I've now done both Prohibition and Alchemy. Alchemy would have been great, except 2 puzzles were broken to the point we thought we must be getting something wrong, until we asked for a clue and worked out it was because the locks were just cheap or worn out. Then we couldn't get out of the second room because, surprise, another component was broken.
I returned to give them another shot because at the end of the day it's the friends that make the experience, not the poorly constructed rooms, and I was excited to try alchemy. That was until the series of cyphers that had to be done without paper. I'm not saying that cyphers are inherently bad, but having so many things to (potentially) translate makes it just a pain. to make matters worse when we got stuck we asked for clues nearly constantly for 20 minutes. Not because we weren't understanding them, but because we weren't getting any response. And of course we couldn't open the door to find out what's going on because 1, it's locked, and 2 that's the whole point.
1 star for atmosphere, 1 for the overpriced and tiny cocktail because at least the bar is good, 1 for the staff who were pleasant, keen and helpful. to be honest three stars seems generous for basically taking two great evenings out and putting a massive wet blanket on it.
Maybe a walkie talkie is less helpful than a button near the entrance so at least other staff can see and help?
M. I.
Trapt bar has an amazing and unique atmosphere. A dim lit bar with an old fashioned feel to it give a nice place to relax and have a drink even if you aren't participating in one of the escape rooms.
The escape rooms are fun and challenging each with their own style and problems to solve, and if you do get stuck the friendly staff are available to call on for hints.
It's an amazing experience and a great gift idea.
E. T.
Had an awesome time even though we failed the alchemy room. Rory was a great host and all round nice guy. Definitely going to go back for the space themed room, but it also seems like a great place to just grab a drink and chill with some friends.
S. B.
Fantastically challenging and beautiful rooms, we failed the alchemist room (30% success rate) and won the prohibition room (40% success rate). They also use WGAC toilet paper (post consumer recycled and 50% profits go to buying toilets in developing countries) and also Beyond Blue! Staff were so friendly, felt we could've hung out with them, very cool bar!
A. P.
Seriously enjoyed the atmosphere! Staff were both informative and hilarious. The escape room I attempted was the Cold War room. Some brilliant puzzles in there that got the brain working well. Sadly I was about 5 mins off the target time. I will certainly be returning for some of their other rooms!
T. W.
Second place I've been to for an escape room experience in Melbourne CBD. This one is definitely better. Although with that being said, the staff were a little rude. The bar itself has a great atmosphere. We tried the Alchemy room & it was HARD. Fifty minutes is just not enough. And they know it - 30% pass rate. More time would be beneficial. Keep it in mind if you book. Still a great challenge though.
B. N.
Never been to any other escape room to compare with, but my group definitely was challenged and had a bit of fun! As first timers, I think our group really appreciated the clues and ability to use walkie talkies. Sooo close to finishing our escape, but still had fun. Next time I do it, I'll take advantage of the bar area as a reward!
N. F.
Had a great time a Trapt. The staff were great and the room was challenging and fun (wizard of oz)
We will return!
R. H.
It was an amazing experience. Great quality escape room! Exceptionally challenging! We did wonderland and it was fun. Kelly was an amazing game master! Shes is most helpful and enthusiastic. Highly recommend and would definitely come back with family.
O. P.
SO MUCH FUN! If youre going to do an escape room this is the best place to do so. So much creativity is put into these rooms. We went on a quiet day, we did Alchemy 2, the staff were SUPER helpful and have us extra time. Heaps of fun!
L. S.
Completed their newest room tonight, Alchemy, and it was great fun! Some very interesting puzzles in there that I've not seen anywhere else. It was just two of us, but I really like that there's Alchemy 1 and 2 - identical rooms so you can split up a big group of friends and race against each other. Espionage is also an awesome room that I'd recommend to more experienced players. Domonique and Ben were super friendly hosts and the bar is great to relax in afterwards to chat about the experience, plus the strawberry cider is really good!
N. M.
I went here with my sister, walking into this place was as fun as the escape room itself! Staff are super friendly, it's a nice speakeasy bar in itself, and the biohazard escape room was well thought out with just the right amount of red herrings and difficulty. I've been to several escape rooms around Asia and the US, but this has been my favorite so far, especially since it was all thought out and designed in-house and captured that Melbourne vibe so perfectly.
Definitely an 11/10 experience, I left feeling incredibly satisfied and inspired, and no doubt I'm going to bring my friends back here again and again. Looking forward to the new rooms being rolled out!
M. R.
We were a group of 3 experienced escape room players and did the Espionage room at Trapt. Didn't make it out in time but we were close!
Puzzles:
It was a fairly low technology room but it didn't feel like it was as there was lots of different types of locks to work with. A few challenging thinking puzzles which we really enjoyed. Overall the variety was good and challenging.
Decor:
Theme was great, very well done.
Location/building:
Being in a bar was definitely different to what we're used to but it was a good change! It was nice to be able to relax and talk about the room after with a drink. Location was in town which was really easy to get to.
Other:
Staff were lovely, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Clue system was a walkie talkie but clues appeared on screen which was good - however the host had to come in once for a clue and I didn't like that. No photo here which was odd. Didn't get any official stats but the host was chatty enough so we could have asked.
Overall:
Really recommend Trapt, the place itself was awesome with the bar. Play an escape room and then have a cocktail afterwards!
A. S.
Such a fun night out! We got to have the last ever experience in their BIOHAZARD room, and escaped too! We were so impressed with their staff, and even more impressed by the puzzles in the room.
Absolutely cannot wait to come back and experience their other rooms, and test ourselves out to try save ourselves from getting TRAPT!
M. R.
A group of us did the Wizard of Oz Room. It was an excellent room with really interesting puzzles to solve. We didn’t make it out in time, I have no qualms with that, we were bested by some really good puzzles. There was a mechanical issue with one of the puzzles not activating a door on first attempt setting us back, but otherwise everything else was fine.
The biggest let down was customer service. I have been to other venues where customer service is paramount. The place was busy and staff looked rushed. Due to unforseen circumstances arrived about 15 minutes before the start of our room (instead of 30 minutes) but we could find no staff to speak to when we arrived (they may have been in a room) and the bar was flat out and there was no opportunity to say we arrived, meaning we were sitting for some time before we could speak to someone.
Once in the room we had a ball, as stated above, but it was afterwards that we struggled with. We were sitting post-game in the bar area chatting about the room and we were asked not to speak about the puzzles, as there was another group going in. This happened twice, once when sitting chatting and again as we were leaving. We were originally quite keen to grab a drink, sit down and debrief in a relaxed manner but the opportunity was just not there. We understand the need for others to experience the room without spoilers, but something needs to be done to address this issue so customers can sit, have a drink and debrief without fear of reprisal.
I have been to other places where the issue of overhearing post-room talk is solved by having those coming in, and those coming out of puzzle rooms in different sections of a room/the building, so conversations are not overheard. The other places are also better staffed, and super friendly, every single time. They also take time to chat to you about your experience afterwards, meaning we stay longer and buy more drinks because we feel welcome, and we also want to come back again because of such a positive customer experience.
Sadly this did not translate at Trapt and being busy is not an excuse for poor customer service. As much as I enjoyed the room, I’m not sure I would be back.

We went to trapt on a recommendation from another escape room who couldn't take our booking. We liked the idea of a speakeasy style bar combined with an escape room but didn't end up sticking around after to buy drinks.
The GM was very friendly although his delivery of instructions etc felt a little rushed for our friends who had never done an escape room before. We did their largest and most difficult room and had a fun time but in the spirit of giving a constructive review, below are the things that distracted from the experience for me and the reason I gave 3 where most rooms I have done would get a 4 or 5.
The first cupboard I went to appeared to not have been correctly set and was open before it should have been. This is a pet hate of mine.
The walky to get tips ran out of battery twice in the same game (despite GM coming in to replace) (we didn't use it that much, honestly) this was frustrating when we were stuck and couldn't get help.
GMs are also bartenders so don't appear to be keeping an eye on what or how you're doing and not always available for tips straight away.
For me, a few of the puzzles were a bit too familiar and extremely similar to those you come across on facebook.
There were lots of padlocks and it felt a bit trial and error to figure out which puzzles gave you the solution to each one. This could have been us missing hints but our friends in the other part of the room had similar feelings.
We were told after that the completion rate is 0.5 percent. If this is true I can only think more time may be suitable for this room?

Had an amazing time at Trapt! We were greeted by a staff member, Jack. Jack was extremely friendly, welcoming and helped hype us.
The room itself was challenging and fun. We will definitely return again!

Great staff, great puzzles, immersive experience. Crust next door to order pizza into the bar. Love it!

Great atmosphere with a bustling bar area. Escape room was perhaps a bit quick, but our group did finish before the time. The puzzles were certainly very entertaining, very well made.

This underground bar and experience has an awesome vibe and ambience as soon as you head down the stairs inside. The bar area is spacious and brining with ad hoc, antique furniture and ornaments. The bar itself is excellent, offering a wide array of cocktails and spirits served by enthusiastic bartenders. Out work Xmas party split into two groups doing different rooms. Ours took on the hardest of them, OZ.
Very difficult! All I can say is, get your creative mind in gear and think outside the box. We were far too logical and were miles off. Also the pre drinks don't help ha-ha

We loved the bartenders and their friendly banter. We did an Alchemy room and the two of us were both first timers. We should've used more hints, we wasted a lot of time in the wrong place. It was quite challenging and we didn't succeed but we had lots of fun with it. We will be back!

Went here with friends from work and it was a lot of fun. We had the most difficult room, and made it 85% of the way. It was a real challenge and the time flies. The bar here is great too, the cocktails are worth a try also!
R. B.
Absolutely love Trapt, it's the best escape room in Melbourne. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere in the bar is cozy and calm. My family and I did Alchemy (and in the past also did the Alice In Wonderland themed room). The pyzzles are on point and the rooms always at a high standard. I can't wait to go again!

Had a really great experience with Teagan and her team tonight. Gentle guidance but not obvious clue giver. Never made you feel at a loss, always putting you in the right step.
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Will be back!

Trapt was a fantastic experience, great group activity with a funky bar to start off with! Cocktails were funky and matched each escape room! Didn't make it through the entire thing but had so much fun along the way! Well priced and will definitely recommend!

Great fun and testing puzzles to solve to get through this challenge.

Really great staff who all went out of their way to provide information and excellent service, bar included. Technology wise I had a little bit of trouble with the booking system online and with communication within the room, something that needs to be addressed, but definitely the staffs superior service made up for this. The escape room was a great experince.
K. D.
It was the first time I did an escape room and we came here with work. Had lots of fun trying to figure out the riddles and they had a decent selection of drinks while we were waiting for the other groups to finish. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a fun group activity.
A. P.
Arrived early and got cocktails, good selection.
Next lot of cocktails took an age to make meaning we had to push back the start time of the room.
The game itself was ok, but the last puzzle, there wasn't enough clues to solve. First time ever weve not completed a room which we don't mind but being told a lot of people fail on this puzzle, surely shows it isn't well thought out or an additional clue is required.
Also this is the first escape room where we weren't monitored and when seen struggling a clue isn't given on screen or over the walkie.
Just made us feel, because it was busy, we were slightly neglected.
Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it as overall it feels more like a bar doing escape rooms than an escape room with a bar, better out there.
T.
Had a great time with my work colleagues. We chose the Espionage room, which was very challenging - even with 6 people.
I was really impressed with the quality of the service. Keep up the good work guys!
D. G.
We did the Alchemy room. The story behind it was great and the clues well thought-out; however, the organisation was a massive let down.
They hadn't put the room back into place properly and, because of this, we found the key to the escape room and the philosopher stone immediately when we went into the second room because it hadn't been put back into place. We were super confused.
Also, the walkie talkies were not working and my friend had to go fetch a staff member twice, wasting so much time. When they did give us clues, they were often quite cryptic and unhelpful. The staff were also pretty rude all around.
S. C.
Selection and turn-over of theme for their escape-rooms is brilliant. We were suitably puzzled and entertained with our birthday booking. Will come back to sample your bar menu and escape more rooms!
M. I.
Had so much fun here. We did the wizard of Oz room. Even though we failed as we ran out of time it was excellent. Would definitely go back again
T. M.
This place is great. Did two of the escape rooms and had an amazing night. The staff were really friendly and the rooms were really enjoyable. Will definitely be going back to do the others rooms soon!
C. J.
We had a small group of 4 , tried the 'most difficult' room - Wonderland, expecting a bit of challenging fun. Finished the room with about 10-15 mins to spare and used no clues. Bit disappointing, as we were hoping for something a little more difficult.
Staff were super nice and friendly, but there was nothing to keep our interest in staying for a drink or anything as the place was dead quiet.
H. D.
First time, won't be the last. Did the wonderland room which was absolutely incredible. If you're into escape rooms and haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for. Staff (Violet and Chuck) couldn't have been more helpful and lovely and will definitely be coming back based on their service alone. Absolutely above and beyond. A+
T. P.
Have done three escape experiences and this one was my favourite! We did the "espionage" room in a team of two and found it challenging (but achievable... just!) with the 45 minute time limit. Great to wind down with a few drinks in the themed bar afterwards.
M. “. E.
Great atmosphere, escape rooms are well thought out and well decorated. Bummed only 45 min to solve where you get 50-1hour other places. They were trialing a new system with clues on a monitor - it failed epically. The game master was ok, but not the best.
C. S.
Awesome place! Thought we were just going to a bar but couldn't say no to the trap room experience. Although it was challenging and we didn't finish in time, we had fun with it and it actually felt pretty rewarding at the end!! Big shout out to Benji & Jamie at the bar 😂😂😉🥃🥃
M. L.
Have escaped two rooms with my girlfriend but would be as good if not better with a group , great puzzles and atmosphere, very friendly staff.
The biohazard room is great fun with a really satisfying escape after the tough final puzzle.
Keen to take on wonderland!
B. M.
We tried the Wonderland room and managed to complete it with only one hint (near the end). The room itself was pretty interesting but it took our medium sized party about three hours to go through it because, after being split in to three groups one group had to wait for another group to finish before they had their go. Wouldn't be a big deal if we had started earlier but not knowing this (or for some other reason) we started quite late.
A.
Did espionage room. Good variety of puzzles, good tie in between puzzle pieces and solution spots. Wear and tear from so much use is reasonably well maintained. Bar area has a good atmosphere.
S. M.
Stumbling upon Trapt in Melbourne on a holiday was especially fortuitous. Entering their debonair dungeon, my friend and I remarked on the cool atmosphere, suited furnishings and practical vibe. Warmly greeted by Michael, we instantly felt a kinship with his hospitable nature and were keenly intrigued as he began his subtle inclinations of possible death lay waiting ahead... While not quite that dangerous, as first timers, we chose Prohibition - and over the following 45 minutes, we were transported to an entrancing scenario which challenges the the mind, races the heart and leaves you wanting more. Thanks for the time well spent! Highly recommended for anyone with a curious nature!
M. B.
What a great place for a team building event!
I arranged for my colleagues to attend Trapt with no real idea what to expect and could not have been happier about the outcome.
With four rooms ranging in difficulty from hard to near impossible, every team was pushed to their limit and days later it is still a major topic of conversation.
Staff are helpful and courteous and prices are quite reasonable.
P. G.
Rooms are fun, but the staff was very rude. Really took away from the experience. We felt rushed and uncared for. We've also been rudely interrupted to do the sign in, after asking to wait a second we were met by a: " sorry time has started " this after they made us wait 10 minutes after our appointment.
L. S.
Considering our group was a bit tired when we arrived, and feeling lethargic.. we went in wondering if we were up to the task. Our room was the Espionage room, as first timers.. Needless to say after the timer being turned on our lethargy went out the window and a surge of energy kicked in. We were so close! To the point where we are all still talking about it the morning after.
Jamie was an awesome host, as was her colleague. Great banter, super efficient in their work and was nice to our bruised ego's when the timer ran out. Will definitely be seeing you again!
K. (.
Making money at the bar from the frustrated patrons who fail the very difficult themed rooms is pretty genius. Some things did not work due to technical issues, there was zero direction given and the hints were basically the answer, definitely room for improvement
T. D.
Rory, Steph and Jack were absolute legends! Very funny, good bants, good clues, tasty shots and a fun yet challenging time :) went twice in 3 days and still wish we could come back a third!
A. W.
Fantastic rooms and great service. I mistakenly had the wrong time for my booking written down. When they called checking where I was, they were more than happy to reschedule us for a later time that day, at no extra cost. 100% would go back again.
g. k.
We had too much fun! I have been in escape rooms in the US and AU, and this was one of the best! Highly recommend the Biohazard room. It is a difficult one, so might be better if you have some escape room experience.
C.
I went for my bday last night and had a blast - great drinks, great lounge, great staff, great rooms. I would give 5 stars if drinks were 10% cheaper/cheaper for people with bookings AND if i didnt feel that big groups subsidise small groups ($80 for 2 people to occupy a room compared with $240 for 7 people to occupy the room?). Charging for the room and not individuals would encourage people to form larger groups to divide the cost, a saving they will almost certainly squander on drinks which ultimately would probably make you more money.
M. P.
I've done quite a few escape rooms here. Whilst the bar is cool and has a great atmosphere, some of the rooms are a little underdone. Alchemy is definitely one of these. I highly recommend Espionage though.
A. S.
Believe the website when it says Wonderland's difficulty level is 11/10... Definitely not for beginners, but a lot of fun all the same! Staff were excellent, and looking forward to trying a different room next time!
R. F.
A little hard to find but great fun and enjoyable themes. Good for a team-building activity. I particularly liked having the bar as part of the experience. The hints system and range of difficulties is good too
S. V.
What a place. Went there to part tale in a challenge. Our team was one of 30% of teams to pad our challenge. A good team always helps too. Highly recommend TRAPT for team building and fostering teamwork. And the bar is good too.
S.
Really friendly and helpful staff. The escape rooms are themed and a lot of fun, definitely challenging in some parts but you can ask for clues. Only downside is a little bit expensive, make sure you book ahead.
T. P.
My first time doing escape room, had a great time with friends. One little thing, the male host was a bit awkward, spoke so fast and could have been more helpful when we asked for help.
N. d. B.
This was my first time at an escape room and I had some high hopes, however the experience was average.
Overall it seems like more effort went into the look and feel of the entrance and bar, rather then the room.
I won't state which room we went to as to not spoil anything, but we did choose a hard one and while escaping we imagined much funner and better ways the room could have been set up. The theme literally menat they could do anything.
Unfortunately all puzzles were to open locks.....which meant there wasnt much in variety. The rooms were sparce as well with bought props and not much custom made for the room. Was a little sad to see.
It would have been nice to have some more physical or team work puzzles as well as find things in the room scenarios.
We did need to ask for help, not because the puzzles were too hard, but because there is no guidance as to what you must do first. So a lot of time can be waisted in doing the wrong puzzle for the wrong lock.
I know this can be part of the "escape" but the escape shoild be fun and rewarding not frustrating.
Also 45minutes was too short a time for the room so we needed guidance to try and get through the room. Although we only got through 2 or the 3.
And there was not real story arc to the escape. It was themed for each room and then puzzles were made. The second room we had all these assumptions on how to do the room because of its theme but non of it carried through. So it really could have been themed anything.
Overall it was an ok experience but nothing special.

I've done 2 escape rooms at TRAPT. A great chance to test your problem solving. A nice atmosphere in the common room for a drink and a chat before or afterwards too. Very friendly staff as well.
H. W.
Good quality of escape room, all the props seemed in good condition and the puzzles were challenging and fun. Bar is reasonably priced, I liked the cider with strawberry syrup!
C. M.
Amazing. Great atmosphere before we entered the room and well laid out challenges. We have done quite a few Escape rooms now but definitely a lot of new ideas and great execution on the design!

“What? How.” Dirk said, as he looked at the puzzle before him. He couldn’t solve it and instead resigned himself to the crushing weight of his existence. We came here to boggle our minds with some confusing conundrums and by golly did we succeed. It’s fitting that they call these escape rooms because your aim is actually to escape the room you are in! A tricky concept at first but once you get it you’ve got it. Consume a few beers before you try the room to increase the difficulty and you’ve got yourself a real brain bending breakout ahead.
R. B.
The escape room was awesome and really well put together - we had a good time.
Would have liked some clearer instructions at the start and the staff had a bit of an attitude, could do with more focus on customer service.
D. F.
So clever!
Love these rooms and this place. My favourite escape rooms I have been too. Always changing, cool bar for pre/after drinks and well thought out, diverse rooms.
W.
awesome!
have been here twice - wonderland & espionage - really good rooms! puzzles well thought out & challenging, especially for espionage. lateral thinking++ made it out just in time!
A. C.
Great escape rooms, very well themed. Staff are enthusiastic and engaging. No good available in the bar, but they'll let you bring pizza in from the place above them.
R. L.
Rooms are really excellent in design and puzzles. Harder rooms are quite challenging but rewarding. Espionage and Biohazard are quite challenging even if you've done multiple escape rooms before

We all loved TRAPT. The staff were very friendly and so helpful. 6 children (7-11yo) and 6 adults were involved in the Transylvania, Biohazard and Prisonbreak rooms today. We had access to help with a walkie talkie and the staff were so gentle and helpful, ensure we could work out the clue ourselves that allowed us to move on to the next clue. We all came out so excited about all the amazing clues, ideas, cleverness and props. There was so much to talk about later !
We will all return soon and try different rooms. So cleverly done !!
Loved it. Thanks TRAPT for a fun morning

Loved it, one of the first rooms we've ever failed but still had a great time. Well made puzzles and friendly staff

If you, like me, go gaga on anything Harry Potter-related and found the Trapt Alchemy room via an Urban List or other internet articles... you will be extremely disappointed. Very misleading advertising. There's NOTHING HP related other than the fact that you have to find a philosopher stone. The room is definitely difficult, with too much unnecessary stuff to waste your time. We asked for a clue way too late and couldn't hear at all what they were saying. They have a cool bar at the entrance and the other rooms seemed more interesting.
N. M.
So much fun. My partner wasn’t impressed that I was dragging him to this but after doing the Wizard of Oz room with a group of 8, everyone was raving on about how much fun they had. We can’t wait to go again!
A. C.
Had an amazing time. The guys helped organising a proposal and had a great time. Very helpful and friendly team. The room was very fun and interesting 10/10 would recommend
C. S. (.
The room was challenging and my group had to ask for a few clues before completing it. I will definitely revisit and try another room. My only complaint is I feel the sessions are a little over priced.
B. L.
Had the best time at trapt in the alchemy room! So proud of us for escaping! Drinks were so good and loved our service from Jamie :)
K.
Love love loved our experience! The rooms are so well set up with amazing attention to detail! Staff are friendly and helpful and escape rooms are totally affordable!
You will not regret going here!!
B. W.
Nice staff and an overall great experience. We did one of the harder rooms and when we didn't quite finish in time they were nice enough to let us quickly finish up.
