Incredible venue. Felt so safe! Amazing music and drinks but the highlight was when I brought it to the attention of bar staff that a man was making me uncomfortable the guy was IMMEDIATELY escorted out. No fooling around, no extra questions, just 2 security guards got him and led him out. I have never felt so respected and seen in a situation like that. Serious props to the staff for taking what might be perceived as a small complaint so seriously, been to a lot of bars where that hasn’t been the case. Cannot express my gratitude! Thanks so much ❤️

Great place. DJs play such awesome music and there are two levels to choose from. Line can be a bit long at times but if you go earlier than 11pm it’s usually okay! Drink specials are great. Espresso martini’s that actually taste good for $10. Wide variety of crowd and doesn’t seem to be many dick heads.

Decent music and cheap drinks (but don’t expect too much) for $10 entry. However, not the cleanest place and the bathrooms could use a facelift. Some people said the staff at the entrance were rude but I had no issues with them and they even give you a water bottle if you decide to come outside for a smoke or just to get away from the heat of the dance floor.

This place has a great vibe and brings some incredible artists for gigs. The sitting areas are comfortable and the decor is interesting and unique. Be sure to stop by for any one of the several events they advertise. Crowds are great and staff seem very nice.

Love love love Yah Yahs. Always play the best music everyone knows, and always a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Sometimes the scene can be a little dirty, but everyone is young, drunk, and having a blast. So what can you expect? The best place to end a night out!!

Seriously Cheap drinks, staff seem friendly, bouncers seem to be intense so I can you assume they take their job seriously. I've been there 3 times and had lots of fun each time. The music seems to be old school, which is played down stairs and they may have different sorts of music upstairs which offers variety. Smokers area outside. (the front) There are other surrounding clubs and late night food outlets so you could most definitely have a great night out in this area.

Really cool atmosphere, and even though there's an entry price, it's not overly steep. Drinks that are moderate price, and they played really fun music. They had two different dancefloors so if I didn't like the music on one, I could go to the other. I really liked the sitting area in the middle of the bar, as it was nice to escape from the loud music at times. Overall, fun place to go with friends, and it's open late so could be a nice destination to end up.

It’s a dive bar that you go to for a good dance. The floors may be a bit sticky but it’s all apart of the authentic Yah-Yah’s experience. Drinks are cheap and reasonably priced. The band room upstairs has some cool acts on their stage. DJs downstairs consistently play 90s/00s hits with a few odd ones thrown in here and there. Overall, it’s an experience to go to Yah-Yah’s. I wouldn’t suggest waiting out the front for an hour at 12:30am but if you manage to get straight it, I wouldn’t find a reason not to

I've had some very good experiences seeing some good live bands there. The whole place has enormous potential with the downstairs part and upstairs as well, for live acts. They don't seem to post their gig guide as frequently as they used to, as I'm keeping my eyes out for some good gigs there. Still recommended..

My favourite club in Melbourne. It is like somewhere I've been dreaming of. The DJ on Fridays playing indie rock and pop is awesome. Everyone dances and just enjoyes themselves. There are always gigs upstairs as well. Always go to the gig first and go down for a dance 💃 Couldn't find this kind of place somewhere else! (please tell me if there is any)

My hubby and I decided to explore the area after eating at the Loving Hut. After trying a few bars/clubs we came across Yah Yahs. Nobody was there so we decided to have a quiet drink. Our first impression wasn't great after being served by the most inanimate, unfriendly and personalityless (bordering on rude/trying hard to be cool but failing drastically) female bar attended I've ever met, however, once the dj started the night was spectacular. A crowd filled the space quickly and the fabulous music kept everyone dancing. As an older person, I can honestly say it was a lovely place to see young people having good clean fun 😊. Plus the music was awesome! P.s. They lost one star due to the weirdo bar chick...lol.

Great place to dance, meet people and have a good selection of drinks. Their is two dance floors with different music. In the weekend time, at the upper level their is a dance competition, which everyone can join ( the winner gets a free beer). The crowd is local's and people from all the world. Can definitely recommend this place.

Once you are inside the venue is lots of fun and plays great tunes, however the line is very long to get in on weekends and the bouncers aren’t too friendly. Overall such a fun place to go on a Saturday night!!

Only been here on Thursdays, but it's really good. No entry fee and music is amazing. Never any problems with security or any one in the venue in general that I've ever seen. Drinks are average prices and the place needs some work, but you really only go there for the music, so it's hardly a big deal. Can get REALLY hot upstairs and they're kind of tight with putting the fans on.

It's a really nice place. Has kind of a grunge feel, and it works for the style. But it's still kind of dirty and bathrooms smell. Still a really fun place. Especially if you're gay and it's a Thursday night. There's always a line there for a reason!

So great to dance the night away to some GOOD music. A rare thing to find these days. My one criticism is that door-charges seem to have become MUCH more frequent since Yah Yah's got new owners a couple of years ago. That may put me off if I can go find somewhere else to dance for cheaper.

Great gig upstairs tonight (Totally Unicorn/Drive Time Commute/No Haven). I want to thank Bryce who helped me when I sliced my elbow on a metal toilet roll fixture missing the cover in the loos. Blood was gushing and he snapped straight into action, cleaned and patched me up like a first aid pro. BTW, Management, your upstairs ladies loos need some maintenance work!

Oi mate, this joint here is a true blue little ripper of a place, great to go after a long day of hard yakka. They even have a fair dinkum street fighter machine which y'know I reckon is grouse, bloody oath! A bugger to find out that half of the bloody buttons don't work. Strewth!

I love and feel at home on Thursday. Have since I was 18 (four years!), but if you r queer and go any other night beware. The vibe changes and suddenly transphobs and homophobs are allowed and tolerated. People will treat you liked scum and the bounces will watch and do nothing.
