Comments of Colonial Brewing Co
A. H.
Lovely place. Have visited twice and both times have had a great atmosphere with friendly service. Food has always been to a high standard. I love how it caters for dogs 🐕. Lots of outdoor space with a country scene and big playground for those with kids.

One of the Great Beer I ever tasted. (colonial drought) . I Was dreaming to come over here and tastes it physically after had first can in perth city and enjoyed it with fresh pizza and burgers with my family. Lady at the Counter was very kind and helpful we . We tasted other beer products before buying and she was very helpful with finding right taste to our family members.
A. K.
Lovely location on a lake and surrounded by paddocks and trees. Knowledgeable staff who are happy to chat about the beer and the various nuances in flavour. The beer itself is delicious, especially the IPA. There was a nice smell of hops and mash when we were there indicating they were in the middle of a brew. The food was fantastic; well presented, tasty and not too pricey. And you can hit golf balls into the lake!
B. M.
Those of you who know, know that colonial brewing do a mighty fine drop.
Hazy Pale and the Southwest Sour always on point. Food was okay but needed a little bit of seasoning but fresh and hot and came out quick
T. B.
Only beer and wine; no spirits. The chips were good, don't get me wrong, and the selection of wines and beers was extensive, but we prefer gin and vodka. With that said, golfing off the jetty into the pond is a nice touch!
Recommended if you're looking for beer, wine and/or kid-friendly.
J. C.
Fast service, food came out very quickly, even though it was busy. Pizza was delicious. Chicken burger was ginormous and really really good according to my daughter.
김.
I found a place like a hidden gem.
It's not big, but it's a perfect place for family tourists.
Playgrounds for children and simple big food are the characteristics of this place.
The food was so delicious.
(pizza was perfect)
And friendly staff, i love them.
But in the summer, little flies annoying me.
M. S.
My partner and I shared a beer paddle, Buffalo Wings and chips. It was all pretty yummy. The Buffalo Wings were nice a crispy with a yummy sauce on top. The place was pretty busy though as there was a mountain biking event going on.
D. P.
Very nice brewery with some great brews, we enjoyed sitting outside in the garden and then having a go at golfing on the lake! The price for golfing could be cheaper tho, 10 dollars is a bit steep...

Love this place. Each time I go to Margaret River its a place I have to go. It has an outdoor area either under cover or on the large grassed area, and an indoor area it you feel the cold. The beers are fantastic and they have a wide variety of beers and wines. You can do a tasting plate of beers to try a variety of them before ordering your favorite.
The food selection is also good. Pub type food but good quality and large serves. From what I see people ordering (as I did too) it seems the Chicken wings, Pizza and burgers are very popular and I can say VERY NICE.
We also had a couple of deserts this time too and they also were great.
This place I would highly recommend a visit if you are planning to go to Margaret River for a stay.

We had lunch here yesterday with some friends. For the most part we enjoyed our meals and tasted our way through a selection of the beers on offer. Just a couple of things detracted slightly from our experience. They don’t allow any modifications to the menu. My friend just didn’t want ranch dressing on the chicken burger, but was told this couldn’t be done. So if you have dietary requirements just be aware and check the menu before you go. I did get the chicken burger and it was delicious, much to my friend’s chagrin ;) they also ran out of buckets of golf balls by 2pm, kids were gutted about that. So if you really want to hit some balls into the lake, maybe get there a bit earlier. Overall, we had a good time and will surely be back.
J. T.
Great find! Wonderful pizzas that’s with a really nice crust (had the Chipotle
Chicken) and Tex Mex wings were great and a great portion to boot. Order the wings with sauce on the side if u r gonna share with young ones as there a kick in the sauce. Wash it all down with their beers! Had the Kolsch and Small Ale which were really nice and smooth!
B. V.
We came on a Saturday of a long weekend and, though the car park was busy, the lawn and deck never felt crowded. The staff worked like a well-oiled machine, someone greeted us as we walked in and directed us to some available tables, then another staff member gave us some menus and explained the different places to order food and drink. Once we ordered the food arrived incredibly quickly and was fresh and tasty. Obviously the beers were excellent. Grabbed a growler on the way out - what a perfect place! Well done, team.
J. G.
Love the small ale. Great vibe and really nice scenic area out the back. Definitely have to try the project beer next time.
H. B.
Ok, so I’ve kinda given up on finding affordable places to eat with families in WA, but, the facilities made up for the prices here...and the food was worth every penny. We had the fish and chips, the wagyu burger and three kids meals which filled them up plenty (10, 12 and 14). Great afternoon hanging out and planning.
T. P.
Beers, food, and service where all alright but nothing special. For food: Jalapeno Poppers where a bit too spicy, and it felt like the food was pre-made/ready as it came out too quickly to be fresh (also was not that warm). For service: we weren't informed or provided with the Sunday specials menu, wrong order was brought out multiple times (also needed convincing that it was the wrong order), and menu items listed that where no longer available but still let us order/pay for them before realising the error (and hadn't been for a while). However, service staff where very kind and friendly but seems like they require further training. We where excited to try out another brewery in Margaret River but overall average and disappointing experience and will not go back. Too many other nice breweries to visit in Margaret River, go check out Beerfarm (not sponsored by Beerfarm 😅).
J. T.
Great food and drinks, beautiful venue. Was a busy Saturday arvo so understandably had a bit of a wait for a table and our food as we didn't book ahead. The staff did an amazing job considering how busy it was. Overall lovely experience.
T. L.
This is such a perfect place to chill out, have lunch or just a drink and relax in the sun. The out door playground is wonderful as you can sit around and watch your child play without having to be right on top of them.
D. L.
Amazing food at great prices. We came for 2012 winner of the 'Best Boutique Brewery'. Enjoy the restaurant decor, great way to spend Sunday afternoon for a drink and live music.
R. L.
Stopped in for lunch and to try a couple of beers. The food was great and so was the beer. Fast friendly service. I bet it gets busy here in the summer.
E. C.
Great food and amazing beer. The west coast IPA is freaking awesome
Bring the kids! They can play totem Tennant a, soccer, or on the playground. They can even hit golf balls on to floating greens in the lake.
R. P.
Really good. Just busy but can't really help that. Could try and make the chips gluten free, but there could be reasons for it.
L. M.
Sparkling apple Cider was perfect with the super yummy olive tepanade potato croquettes. Service can be a bit hit & miss but food is good when it comes, great children’s playground, indoor & outdoor seating. Great spot if you are not in a hurry.
N.
We had a delicious gluten free meal here, fries and pizza. There are plenty of outdoor games available so it is very suitable for families.
B. H. (.
Great cider & beers on tap, delicious chilli mussels & Wagu beef burgers, cool music & relaxed atmosphere, not too busy, great staff.
C. B.
Having just finished having a lovely lunch I felt a review was certainly in order. All of the food was absolutely amazing and great value. Beer and cider was cold and simply delightful which was all nicely tied up with fantastic customer service.
Can’t recommend more .... we shall certainly be returning on our next visit down south.
Congratulations CBC ...... hit the nail on the head 👌
M. E.
Great lunch here. Nice cold beer.
Calamari 10/10
Mushroom Pizza. 10/10
L. G.
Great vibe and delicious food. Also we got a mixed 6 pack to go home with and it came with a free glass
A. O.
Great place, tasty beers and the $10 pizza on a Friday night is brilliant value for money and really tasty! Tasting paddle definitely worth getting
C. m.
Great friendly and helpful service (even though they are flat out at the moment being school holidays)
Booking of 10 and all our meals came out together. Food was great, the fried chicken burger particularly so. They look after the kids with a decent playground and lawn to run around on. Good beers as always. . But that goes without saying.
This place is always my favourite spot for the cape to cape stage finish to.
A. G.
Beer is really good. Venue top notch. Food was fast but it was not the type of food I had hoped for. Basic burgers and pizzas. Recommend a visit, but you may find yourself settling for a chicken burger.
D. O.
Great place for a few beers, a meal, and to let the kids run wild in the playground. Scenic views, good facilities. Big fan of their beers too, grab the tasting paddle ;)
L. L.
Didn’t quite work for us. They wouldn’t modify the menu, not even the tiniest bit. Wanted to replace the pizza sauce with olive oil because of onion and garlic intolerance, but they wouldn’t do that. To be fair, it was a busy weekend, but how hard is it to sprinkle some olive oil instead of the pizza sauce?
The place was crazy busy, they forgot to add the table number to our order so I had to follow up after ~30 minutes wait for a bowl of chips (without onion 🤣)
B. M.
Had an absolute blast, and so did the kids. Playground is now woodchip base instead of sand, cleaner but kids may need shoes. The golf driving range into the pond was great fun, get in early to avoid disappointment though. Can recommend the chicken burger, diavolo pizza, and Bertie cider. One of our go-to spots down this way.
A. G.
Ample seating overlooking the lake, perfectly suited for a mid afternoon drink or tasting paddle. Music suites the mood well.
M. H.
Cosy brewpub, kid friendly. Plenty of room, all the beers on tap are very good, didn't dislike a single one, the sours were my favourite. Staff were very lovely and super chill. Would recommend this place over some of the other brewpubs in the area tbh.
J.
Pizza's have gotten smaller in the last few years and generally not as good as they used to be, however the burgers are pretty good and the chips are still great. The apple cider is really good too.
a. j.
They have nice hats 😖 and a lovely grassed outdoor seating area! However I reccomend bringing your own cheese slices because they don't let you add any to the chicken burger.
T. O. B. S.
Great service very pet friendly great food and wine/beer & lots to do
S. W.
Great atmosphere good views good service nice cider
P.
Awesome venue with great beer at reasonable prices. Though we didn't eat, the food going out to table looked incredible.
A. H.
What a fantastic place this is. The greeting on entry is warm and welcoming and the vibe is laid back. Food and drink is sensational. Great playground for the kids and you can kick a footy and even swing a golf club. Great acoustic set on too.
Would have given it 5 stars but the only down side is the long queue to order lunch. Get a second cash register going guy's !
L. l. m.
Gr8 atmosphere, family friendly atmosphere, gr8 beer & food 😋 👌
K. C.
Great live music, excellent buffalo wings, I had the cider. Helpful staff too. No cash, card only.
J. F.
We met friends at the Colonial for lunch. There were plenty of outdoor tables on the lawn with umbrellas for shade. The kids had an absolute ball in the playground and using all the sporting equipment. The menu is limited in choice but the food was lovely. Cider is gorgeous. Using the Entertainment Card voucher made it better value. We would definitely return again. A fantastic venue for big groups and families.
J. T.
Very nice
Great beer
Lovely food avd atmosphere
C. A.
We came here for lunch and had a great time! The food was served quickly, even with the many customers and it tasted great. All the activities outside are really fun as well, especially the golf and the bean bag game. Will definitely be coming back soon.
J. E.
Wonderful venue with great food and drinks. The outdoor burger tent was fantastic as was the neatly constructed driving range! Book in advance over holidays and long weekends as it can get busy, well worth checking it out.
L. C.
Great venue. Large outdoor area with playground, also with plenty of space inside. Beers are great - clean and very drinkable. Food was fantastic! Ordered the jalapeno poppers and ploughmans platter. Deliciously good!
B. B.
Went with a big group of friends (16) for lunch and had a great time. Food and atmosphere were amazing. Will definitely be going again next time we go down. One staff member (seemed like the owner) was super kind and was happy to give a paddle of soft drinks to the designated drivers who couldn't have any beers.
B. K.
It took 3 requests in a 2 hour window to get them to refill the hand soap in the bathroom. Wasn’t busy, staff were just sort of hanging around.
Beer was good, especially the Pale Ale.
Pizza was ok, aioli was good, chicken was tough and dry.
Fun to go hit some balls into the pond though!
H. M. A.
The food was awesome and the vibe was nice (lots of kids running around). It's the sort of venue where everyone feels welcome. One staff member (maybe the owner??) brought some dog treats over for my dog! I've never had that happen before. I will be coming back and recommending colonial to my friends and family.
L. W.
Awesome venue with a good vibe. The only thing stopping this from being 5 stars is that fact their food isn't quite up to scratch yet. But that said, still a good great place that's worth a visit
C. P.
Even though it was raining the whole time, the setting is lovely, heaters above the table kept us warm. Staff were lovely and the beers were awesome.
S. T.
Great place for a friday night beers and $10 PIZZASS!!
Had partially cooked chicken one night after eating half way through i realised it was still raw inside. The waitress sent it back to the kitchen staff but unfortunately the kitchen already closed so they gave me a refund.
Good customer recovery, however I wished that it didn't happen because I was so looking forward to buffalo wings on a friday night after work.
B. R.
Amazing atmosphere! Excellent for taking the kids for lunch and enjoying a drink. Great selection of beer on tap. Unfortunately my experience was marred by a less than fresh lunch. The slaw was probably over its days of being served fresh along with some waygu beef mince. It was obviously on the special board for a reason. Will be back and hope for a better food experience and more stars next time.
E.
Very, very , veeeeryyy good SALADS!!! Good vibes, this place has it's own cute touches all over the place! Cider 👍
T. M.
Beer only / no food eaten
Awesome tasting paddle at a reasonable cost and I liked all of them to varying degrees.
Followed with a couple of glasses of Ruben and stout
The Ruben was fantastic and it's a pity it won't be released more widely.
Great venue and really large! Loved the place.... if I'd eaten I may have given 5☆
M. D.
Had lunch here yesterday with the family. Absolutely lovely. Such a picturesque spot and perfect for kids of all ages, with footy goals, totem tennis and even a mini driving range into the dam. Board games, books and more.
Food was divine and staff were unfaultable.
Will definitely be going back
E. W.
Lovely spot to spend with friends. We enjoyed hitting golf balls into the lake and sitting in front of the outdoor fire having a few bevvies
d. f.
Ordered the 'special' bean nachos. Came cold with minimal cheese minimal nacho bean sauce. Mostly corn chips, ripp off and tasteless. 2 stars for the beer battered chips which were nice and the kolsch beer which was good, and 1 star for the golf chipping into the water which was a fun novel thing to do!
K. S.
Great brewery with something for everyone. Kids playground, golf range into the dam, yummy pizzas and a nice selection of beers n wine.
S. G.
Beer:
I've had most of the Colonial range before and it's great beer. I was really annoyed when ordering the tasting tray... and they've put a Cider on instead of the Wheatbeer! 5 smaller than usual glasses. Also a couple of servers aimed for the line in the glass leaving a gap at the top with little head which evaporated in minutes. In a nutshell, being a brewery venue, I'd expect better attention to the beer. Venue: Fantastic
Food: Had a bit of a gripe about the pizza, but they dealt with it really well so really happy with that too.
H. N. (. L. P.
Great food and beers! Friday is pizza night from 6pm where pizzas only cost $10 - the menu changes depending on the season but the KonichiWA is my personal favourite with ginger, mayonnaise and chicken (sounds weird but trust me it's delicious!).
On Tuesday's you can refill your growler (large 1,5L beer bottle) cheaper. There's usually live music or a dj on Fridays and in summer the place is packed so a reservation might be necessary. Great place though, can highly recommend!!
C. S. (.
Such lovely and relaxed staff, plenty of space very natural and very well decorated. Heaps of wonderful beers you can't buy at the local bottle shop. Family friendly, over looking a nice cute farm house - HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5*
A.
Amazing outdoor venue, great staff...
Maybe it’s my inner west Sydney in me, but I seek more from a beer and a brewery which has such a good starting point.
Some more beer varieties could really turn this place into something amazeballs...
Their mid strength and Pale Ale are good and have a excellent level of depth...
Please make more :)
H. L.
Such a lovely place to sit and enjoy the country side. Great beers and good food al long with hitting off some golf balls or kicking a footie and a great playground. Has it all 👍
R. G.
Tasting paddle is good. I buy the beers in Murphy’s anyway.
Didn’t try the food on my visit but looks decent.
S. S.
Have been here 3 times and is definitely my pick of the bunch for breweries down south. Great beers and food. Massive playground for the kids and plenty of grass to kick the footy or a bit of backyard cricket. Bravo
D. M.
This place is a gem! A Sunday lunch had us fed, watered and entertained. They had five of their standard beers on tap plus a "Project" Beer. We took a tasting board of the five for $15 and were quite impressed across the range from the light Kolche to a full bodied Porter.
Lunch was the Tex Mex Chicken wings which were fantastic. The right mix of spice and flavour. These were chased with beer battered potato chips.
What topped it all off was the entertainment - a guy with his guitar (or large selection thereof) keeping beat with his foot on a box and singing good Australian ballards in his own style. This guy was talented with the strings!
For the kids there was a playground however most were chasing the massive bubbles made by a clown on stilts.
Highly recommended spot that we will be returning to before we leave the region.
J. C.
Nice place to sit outside for a pint. Foods decent, but the family atmosphere and it’s laid back vibes - with a live band on some days, makes it a true delight spending a whole afternoon there.
k. l.
Great beer. I liked their IPAs!
M. U.
Great beer, awesome food, dog friendly, attentive staff, lots of room for kids.
All boxes ticked, highly recommend.
L. O.
I drink this beer in Melbourne and it's delicious. Very excited to go to the brewery and it didn't disappoint. The food was good too. $10 wings on Wednesdays.
j. j.
Probably the worst tasting Pizzas Ive eaten, but cheap, hahaha (Friday night has them at $10.00) the blokes didn't mind the beer, not Great though, and the cider we had tasted like it was infected :( ... the place however was lovely, great playground for the kids
v. o.
Beers always good, went their for the wings wasn't dispointed f%$#n delicious components to the chef :)
O. H.
My favorite WA beer!! The place is also one of favorite places to visit in the south west. Keep up the good work guys. Ps- love the name as well.
D. W.
Beer was really good, we had the Porter and the cider and both were great. The food was a bit average though but we were there fairly late on the Friday night
S. d. P.
Really enjoyed the outdoor area. Lots of space for people and lots of tables. The fries are great. And the haloumi pizza was amazing. Very reasonable prices too and good service. Really worth visiting.
d. B.
Ordered the veggy burger.. So spicy couldn't eat it. Good news for some. Lamb swarmer a bit tasteless but there you go. Neither of us happy with the food
L. W.
Has some great little golf to tee off in to the water, nice food and drink. Gets pretty busy so if you're going with a big group, call ahead to book a table!

Great venue, nice beer and a good atmosphere. Went elsewhere for lunch as the wait was lengthy. The pizzas looked great though.
K. P.
Great outdoor space to hang out for couples, adults, families, kids and even furry friends. Amazing food and good beer tasting paddle.
B. F.
I found the service unfriendly. Seems like it could be a good venue. I enjoy colonial beverages but did not enjoy the experience at this venue.
W. T.
Delicious beers. Good setting, friendly service, kids and dogs friendly. Food is good, but servings are on the small side.
B. A.
Venue excellent
Cider excellent
Fish tacos shouldn’t be on the menu, $19 per serve for 3 of the blandest tacos is a rip off
A. S.
So so good.
Lunch was amazing, one of the best vegetarian pizzas I have ever tasted and the burger with coleslaw.
Plus great view
J. B. (.
Beautiful property to look out onto, tasty AF brews & food. Thanks for the hospitality CB&Co

Good beer.
Nice venue.
Pizza average.
N. C.
I went in and bought some IPA in Perth because it’s good beer and I resent the political correctness gone mad about the name.
G. “. H.
An awesome vibe and really great service. Staff are super friendly and make you feel welcome. I’ve been going there for years and they’re consistent. Never had a bad experience.
