Angel Hotel is a small and moody pub located in Pitt Street. The decorations are old-fashioned which adds to the atmosphere of the pub, and it offers a wide range of alcoholic beverages including beer, spirits and wine, and is a great place for a weekend or Friday night winding down.

I love the Angel, the staff are so friendly and always have a smile. It almost feels like I am going to a friends house when I walk in, warm and welcoming. Great atmosphere, great drinks menu thanks guys you are doing it right!

Always a fun night out and of course all Merivale establishments has top notch staff that always go out of their way to make sure your night is fun and easy going. Great place to start off a Friday night or even end it after dinner. Very cosy set up as well

I haven't been to the Angel Hotel for years bit it still has the old worldy look and feel. Bar and waitress staff are very attentive. Prices for drinks seem reasnable too. When I'm back in thw area, will visit again.

I really enjoy visiting the Angel; right in the middle of the CBD it offers four levels of sanctuary from the busyness of the CBD. Staff are very friendly and accommodating and the bar is full to the brim with everything you could need. I’ve only had good experiences at the Angel; I’m looking forward to more in the future!

The upstairs cocktail bar had a lovely atmosphere. They were burning incense which added a thrill to the senses. We were taken care of by staff.

I'm not really sure what it is about this place. It's one of those rare bars where you can actually sit at the bar and chat to either the staff behind it or the person next to you without being judged for it. Been the watering hole for my closest friends since 2010, and 10 years later we are still coming here! The beer is ice cold, fresh and the snacks you can order (toasties, chips etc) are hot and perfectly salted. Love the Angel.

Nice Little pub. Is nice place for a function like a bucks party. However, Limited seating in main bar and has a limited selection on Tap. Prices are not bad by city standard. Crowd appears to be a mix of city workers and tourists. Overall a nice bar just needs more on tap selection rather than bottles and I would have given it a higher star rating.

I enjoyed this pub. It has the old style pub feel about it and is really cosy. The music is really good variety of older time rock and roll which brings a really good vibe. The staff are friendly to talk with and don't give the impression of being fake. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Good old pub, just the way it should be. Always packed with the after work crowd, overall would say that if has an average range of beers on tap. VIP and pokies downstairs for those that are interested. Staff are friendly and efficient which is always a nice touch.

Went here before dinner after work. Tried to order a cider but they didn't have any so had to wait about 15mins for them find some bottles. Service was nice, floors were sticky and place lacked atmosphere. Ok for a quick drink but wouldn't recommend for a big group.

A friend brought me here on my visit to Sydney. We headed straight to the whiskey bar on the 3rd floor. We were immediately greeted and thereafter graciously attended to by the lovely and delightful Greer. We could not have asked for a more interesting and engaging host. The food we ordered was delicious (try the tostadas!) and the whiskey range was exemplary. The decor lends itself to quiet, thoughtful conversations and slow sipping of nature's finest! Thanks Greer! Great little bar, really nice atmosphere. Charming old style fit out. Head upstairs and snag a couch for the best drinking spot. Not a huge venue so can get a bit tight when busy. Venue is not expensive for a city pub (and a Merivale one), great spot for a drink after work or a quick bite for lunch on a Friday.

Would love it if they had more food options but the bartenders there are great (The bartender Qais is especially on the ball). Their lunch deal is really cost effective, the decor is cool and their fries are pretty yummy.

Favourite pub in the CBD. Excellent pub fare, good beers and very friendly staff. We've made plenty of friends here over the years, including the staff. If you haven't been here, definitely give it a go, you will love it if you like traditional pubs.

One of the few scruffy pubs left around Wynyard. Great for grabbing a beer and food.. staff are always friendly and the decor is a hark back to the look and feel of traditional pubs with stain glass windows and rickety wooden staircases. Well worth checking out if you're in the area

Even though this place is kinda a suit bar, and it's owned by merivale, this place has a charm you can not dismiss , it's got a old school kind of classic up market pub vibe that's just awsome, it's as if you have just become member at some kind of club!, I love the lay out of this place, and the decor!, never mind the suits.

This place is fairly mixed now for all tastes. The ground floor is a typical workmans pub, the first floor had a nice lounge and the top two floors are catering to the more Merrivail crowd with cocktails etc. mostly oriented towards whiskey.

I've been going here for a few months now and it is FANTASTIC. I am yet to actually spend any money at the place, but the selection of free food in the pokies room is hectic. Party pies, chicken wings, Mentos, choco muffins, Allens Party Mix, lamingtons, and those peanuts with that layer of orange stuff (don't know what that is, but it makes them bulk crunchy and tastes deluxe). I don't even gamble - I just pretend to slap at the buttons on Gonzo's Quest and get FED.

After a shocking day, which included driving 6hrs return to retrieve our passports in order to fly to NZ for a sudden illness in my wife's family (to find out her passport had expired), we popped in to the Angel whilst waiting for a replacement. What a find. Older style pub that do sandwich and drink combos. Awesome service, and thanks heaps to Publican Ben. A true Gentleman. Don't believe the guy that only gave 1 star. He only ever gives 1 star.

Everything you want in a pub, always full of good people. Some may call it dark and dingy, but it's really full of character with original features transporting you to early colonial life.

Cosy and quaint pub in the heart of the city. Good spot for a beer after work. It's quite small so can get busy very quickly. It's a good idea to get there early and grab one of the cosy sofas upstairs. If you're in a big group you can book ahead and reserve a spot.
