One of the best bars in the city, always a great atmosphere here for football matches. Staff are always super friendly, and the food is top notch. Have had many great nights here with friends, until the early hours!

Cheers has been a major pit stop for many of us over the years and through it’s temporary evolution of the 80 Proof spinoff, we rediscovered a great underground venue space that hosts a lineup of entertainment from stand up comedy to hip hop crew dance-offs to corporate functions. So it’s nice that it goes back to basics with what we loved most about it - Sport, Entertainment and Hearty food. Currently there is a streak of Asian in some of the dishes which makes sense, but all our old faves are still there. THE HAWKER PLATE is a mixed grill of pork belly slices and southern fried chicken. Its a great example of how it’s menu has streaks of Asian influence through it, as it shares the board with Thai/Malaysian street style peanut sauced Satay Chicken sticks - a welcome addition. THE VERMICELLI NOODLE SALAD takes you Vietname with the crunch from the bean sprouts and kick of slight chill and coriander with battered sliced fish through it! Mate had the NY BURGER: (Quote) "I went the double bacon cheeseburger and wasn't dissapointed. Not my preferred cheddar, prefer the American, but the beef and bacon were good. Bun was soft. Again, my dislike of sweet caramelised onions on a beef burger was apparent to me. Chips although basic were well seasoned.” - I love caramelized onion so this burger would have been up my alley, but I was very pleased with my choice! Lucky enough to be served by the manager himself, Mark and very personable character with superfast delivery times from the (I peered in) small kitchen! It’s like magic I tell ya!!! This isn’t just for NRL, EPL, UFC fans as there’s a great mix of sports lovers, carefree and corporates that come through setting a really relaxed and funky vibe to the place!

I understand the troubles that a business undergoes and am generally quite sympathetic especially having gone through COVID associated hardships over the past 2 years. But a business like Cheers Bar that engages with its customers digitally didn't respond to my FB requests in a timely manner. I completely understand such responsibilities may not be a first priority but given the nature of the entertainment industry, such request is somewhat time sensitive. (almost 3 days already) It doesn't leave a good first impression to someone who wants to someone who simply wants to watch sport. I leave this message/review with the only intention of helping the business and informing potential consumers. No spite at all. All the best! EDIT: Gave the pub a visit, not my type of bar as I expected. However, there was a great buzz and atmosphere in the pub. I love how there are tv screens spread out across all vantage points within the building. There's no reason to miss out on a sporting moment at Cheers. Well done.

Cheers Bar has a very rugged but cosy atmosphere. Staying true to their appearance, their Chicken Parmas are classic pub grub. Priced at under $20 each, theyre a good alternate way to fill up in the CBD. Freshly made and huge portions. You won't be disappointed!

Best value meals in the city. $12 meal specials Monday to Thursday. Excellent value and fantastic quality. Delicious grilled baramundi for $12, unbeatable value in the city. Also there is a great selection of other meals of equal good quality and value. The staff are friendly and for some unkown reason even the beer tastes better at Cheers.

Feels a bit soulless since it was renovated, we were just in to watch the UFC, the staff watched the entire bar watching the prelims, order food and drinks then when someone asked to switch over to the main event they were informed they don't do PPVs ( which the bar used to do ) Que the entire bar emptied out, definitely alot of angry people who wont be back. The food was fine but the bartenders need to learn how to pour a pint of Guinness.

Low rating due to poor turnaround time (40 min) for food, no menus could be found, took 15 min and still could not find, so they just gave me options verbally, and could not access Wi-Fi for some reason. Classic sports bar in a busy part of Sydney! Watched the AFC Asian Cup game between Korea and the Philippines in this pub and although it was past midnight, the barkeep and security allowed me, a mate and a few bystander to enjoy the game! Pretty busy pokies spot and does good mixes!

By far the best venue to watch any sporting event. I watched all of the Rugby World Cup matches and it was as if I was among-st the crowd at the games. There are so many large HD TV's so where ever you are sitting you don't miss anything. The staff are very welcoming and provide such a great atmosphere to the pub. Highly recommend this venue.

It's obviously not the same as it was before, where everyone knew your name, it was cosier, homey, a place so familiar everyone felt at home, if not, a home away from home for some. The staff took the time to get to know regular customers. But with Covid times, and 2020 comes great changes, whether for the good or the better, only time will tell. The spirit of all cultures gathering in one sports bar in the middle of Sydney, on George st to celebrate a common goal, Victory for your TEAM and Country! Cheers!

Great Food and good selection of Drinks. Down to earth place for down to earth people. Great for watching most sports. A few football supporters groups are based here including the NSW Liverpool Supporters Group and it goes off when their there on game night/mornings. Wise to get there early for football. Good staff and security and right in the Sydney City at George Street, down the hill from Sydney Town Hall, plenty of buses and cabs nearby and all major hotels nearby. Behave and Enjoy ⚽️🥂🍾🍻

My favorite pub in Sydney. Everytime i visit Sydney i always go there to have a pint of Guinness. Lovely staff that have been working there for ages. Also has the best atmosphere when it comes to watch your favorite team on the TV. They show all the important soccer matches from around the world, so if you have a group trying to find a place to watch your team's game, please enquire if it's available, book it and enjoy it

I went here late night after a meeting because I was desperate for wedges and let me tell you, they have amazing wedges! If you're in need and can only find noodle places, this hidden gem (not too hidden) is amazing.

Busy pub in a busy section of George Street. Popular with a younger, casual crowd, rather than office workers. Many gaming machines and TAB betting. Several large screens airing sport and racing. Complimentary WiFi. Happy Hour is good: 1600~1900 every day ($5.00 spirits and upsize on wines and selected beers/cider: thus, you get a pint of cider for the cost of a schooner). 1.5% surcharge for using a credit card. Really friendly bar service the evening we visited.

The pub has whopping HD screens peppered across the venue and an almost spiritual electricity when big sporting events are on. Open around the clock makes it an old faithful for Sydneysiders (if you’re really looking to spice up the night order their secret “Spiced Double Ender” cocktail). Stay humble Cheers Bar!

One of the bars that Liverpool supporters frequent. Get in early, or risk being left out since it can get crowded very very fast. Fantastic sports bar, with lots of TVs and a centre piece big screen projector. Very good atmosphere, with other Liverpool Reds singing in full voice come every match day. Nice selection of beers, both Australian and foreign. Prices seem to be reasonable - a pint is around 6 to 8 dollars. The bartenders will serve nice bacon sandwiches after the kitchen closes at 10pm.

Came here to check out the Broncos/Ravens NFL season opener. Had a really great time, they had fantastic deals on beer and potatoe wedges before the game. Searched the TripAdvisor late on Wednesday night trying to find a pub to watch the Merseyside derby with a few like minded individuals as im a Liverpool Fan. Found Cheers was the place to go and couldnt have been happier. Walked in at 6.30am on Thursday morning place was already pumping, big screens were showing the game all around the pub and the atmopshere was not something youd expect for 6.30am in Sydney. If in town for a liverpool game no other place to watch.

This place is really the pub for all sports fan. They live up to their slogan of "Sydney's Home of Sport". There are 2 floors full of TVs situated at different angles for sports fan to support their team wherever they stand/sit. Their drinks are not too pricey too. I recently watched the England vs Italy soccer game (WorldCup) over there and the atmosphere was awesome! The English fans went ballistic after they've scored the equalizer. But the bouncers controlled the crowd pretty well. Will definitely go back there to watch big matches again. p.s. They served nice nice bacon and egg roll and more food menu on the basement too! p.p.s just be careful with your belongings over there (I guess its more of just person awareness in general rather than the pub's issue). One of my friends lost her phone when she was at the bar when she was not looking. Since the entrance/exit and the bar counter is pretty close, that makes thief easier to leave the crime scene without much notice. But this is not the pub's fault as long as everyone looks after their valuables closely.

Nice little sports bar with cheap meals. Seems to be a decent place in central Sydney to visit to watch the rugby/league. Wanted to watch afl and they put it on one of the upstairs tv's for us. Also has pool tables, $3 a go on the Friday night we were there. Décor is nothing fancy. Didn't check out the club part downstairs so can't comment on what that's like. Would visit again.

Great soccer bar, easy to get a local beer on tap. Two pool tables if that's your thing. Lots of TV's with a selection of European soccer, Rugby League, and horse racing + anything that you want they can probably put it on for you. There is a Tab station inside if you want to gamble. Downside is no jugs available.
