Comments of Earl's Juke Joint
c. j.
Fantastic cocktail bar. Knowledgeable bartenders. Interesting cocktails. Exquisitely dim lighting and old-school vibes. Good tunes. I’d go out of my way to come back here again if I’m in town.
E. M.
Great atmosphere, very good spot for a date night, but probably not a first date as it is quite loud and bustling on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday. Prices are as expected in Sydney, which is to say obscene, but you come here for the experience.
This is somewhat a question of personal preference, but something in the negroni ratios is off and I wouldn't get it again.
T. L.
Pretty cool bar. There’s a lot to like when you see what’s inside. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side but the bartenders are great. Make sure you get here early or be prepared to queue for a bit. Walk in only bars are the great equaliser! Very popular place to be on a Friday and Saturday night.
V. b. S.
Good experience. Kind of hidden bar from outside. Staff is friendly and there are some unique cocktails to enjoy. Priced med to high. No food available. Good music
B. J.
Amazing decor and vibe, business encourages a "neighbourly" environment.
A must see for lovers of New Orleans culture, jazz, blues, soul etc
The only reason this one doesn't get a five from me are the drastically high prices and lacking selection of drinks.
Perhaps a good place to start the night?
W.
What a great bar! Staff are warm and welcoming. Always have a good time here. Delicious cocktails. So glad Earls made it through lockdown.
F. S.
Great unassuming place for a drink, you’d walk past if you didn’t realise it was a cool bar behind the front windows that look like an old butcher. Walking though the door you’re greeted by a long bar and tables and a great vibe !!! The music is chilled and the staff are friendly, there’s a simple beverage list with some great cocktails and nuts are provided when you ask, will definitely return !!! :)
D. M.
I remember coming into this joint when it used to be a Macedonian butcher. The owners have a done an amazing job of creating a secret world behind the original butcher doors. The expansive Bar is impressive and draws an interactive crowd. Love the atmosphere with fair priced drinks and just an overall warm feel to it.
J.
One of the best cocktail bars in Newtown! I’ve been coming here for long time and never disappoints. Beautiful dark vintage deco, great music and fantastic bartenders. If you are after a place than make GOOD cocktails THIS is the place.
R. M.
Old butchers shop turned into a fun bar. Great ambience combined with well made drinks 🍸 is the best way to describe Earl's. We went around 6pm on Friday and the place was empty so take a group and go grab a 🥃
D. L.
Great little bar with excellent spirits selection, good cocktails and wine also. Beer selection is a little limited and the drinks are not cheap but that's only a minor criticism. Bar staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and when my other half spilled her drink they were out to clean up with a free replacement in no time
S. P.
Like a speakeasy hidden in an old butcher's shop (which I remember when it was selling meat rather than alcohol - undoubtedly alcohol sells better on King Street).
Cool but expensive.
L. N.
Great music, atmosphere, and drinks. Only downside is how popular it is! Expect to wait in line to get in!
F. F.
Places like this is what I want whenever I come to Newtown 😍 Very groovy bar with an excellently curated cocktail list that incorporates quite a few ingredients that you normally wouldn’t find in a drink.
J. C.
Great bar and friendly staff. Wonderful ambience, really great drinks selection. There is something for everybody. Highly recommend this place for a post lockdown soiree.
L.
Awesome bar, nails the New Orleans style!!!! Funkiest music too but so loud my ears were ringing when we left. No complaints here though 😏
The cocktails are excellent. Really fancy stuff. I recommend the Numero Uno.
Fairly easy to miss the entry so check out the photos on here, it used to be a butchers and they have kept the original doorway.
Friendly bouncers.
G. D.
Got in early so nice and easy to get a table but big queue from about 8 onwards. Cool bar hidden behind a butcher shop front. Loved the cocktails with tequila and gun. The others I wasn't mad about but service was quick and friendly and they had wine.
D. R.
This place has total ‘WOW’ factor. The bar tender who served me was an artist & a gentleman. Asked him if he could make an ‘Old Pal’ - not a common cocktail. He said he hadn’t made one in years, I told him no pressure. What he gave me was hands down the best ‘Old Pal’ I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to come back!
C. M.
Pretty cool place. The staff are great. Willing to chat with you about what you like and make a recommendation or cocktail of your choice (and they're great). Free nuts. Wahoo. And ab absolutely amazing Negroni
B. L.
Personally I think the cocktails are nice, but in the few times I've been there there haven't been many options for someone who likes a sweeter drink (on the menu), so it loses points for that. The bar staff are friendly and skillful though, so if you want to order something not on the menu then you'll have a good experience.
K. D.
The outside still pays homage to the former butchers' shop. However, once you step inside, you've instantly transported to another place, thanks to the exposed wooden beams and mood lighting. The cocktails are delicious and very creative. On a busy night, you'll most likely have to wait for your cocktails, so it's also best to double park ;)
T. J.
Beautiful atmosphere. Really friendly staff. Awesome cocktails. Music is not too loud and with a good taste (like everything else). This is what bars should be like.
One of my most loved places in Sydney.
L. D.
Pros: very cosy atmosphere
Cons: Rather expensive
N. M.
The bar is the same but the quality of the cocktails has diminished. I asked for two "classic" IBA cocktails. The bartender struggled to know what they were. I got served one in the wrong glass, wrong garnish and I had to show the bartender a pic of the drink, the glass and the Ingredients on an IBA cocktail. The other one wasn't that good. Not gonna rag on a place but surely classic IBA cocktails would be simple fare for EJJ's?
C. B.
Super fun little bar with great music and a good vibe. Hiding behind a shop front that looks like something else completely... A great place to "meat" friends.
L. H.
Awesome cocktail bar with phenomenal service by a skilled and dedicated team. When you sit at the bar, water and peanuts magically appear in front of a friendly bar staffer who helps you choose something from their inventive menu. I went for their twist on a Sazerac, with honey notes and was super pleased. The vibe in the place is quite chilled with some great music playing.
J. B.
Good natural wine selection and very cool atmosphere!
M. L.
Great place for a couple drinks. I have been here a number of times now and it has always been a great atmosphere with tasty cocktails. I love that the original butcher exterior has been kept and the bar is unassuming from the street. I will undoubtedly be back again.
K. C.
Hidden entrance and lovely interior decor. Cocktails are interesting and quirky.
I. L.
One of Newtown's coolest bars. Great music, excellent service, highly recommended.
T. D.
Excellent cocktails with innovative ingredients, cool vibe and music.
I’d give it 5 stars except for the security lady on the front door is too stern for such a cool place. Kind of destroys your first impression of the bar.
A. D.
Great bar, good drinks, friendly staff. I make the effort to get here each time I go out in Newtown.
C. D.
A nice big but cosy boozer doing wine cocktails and beers and doing all of them well (and for that reason not the cheapest boozer in town but worth it for a treat)
C. M.
Really cool place. Good atmosphere and good bartenders. Definitely worth ordering a cocktail here.
O. W.
One of my favourite spots in Newtown. Great drink selection, terrific service and good music. A really chilled out place to have a drink. It gets busy though and seating can be limited. Also, being small it is noisy when full.
P. R.
What a cool place! Would walk past every day of the week thinking it was a butchers, and wondering why there was a bouncer looking guy outside. I tasted a few of the nice cocktails, but mainly enjoyed the nice whisky selection on offer. The complimentary nuts were good too!
D. T. T. N.
Love this place, but I wish they'd expand on their cocktail menu and change it up a bit
S. M.
One of the coolest bars in Sydney. Great booze selection, cool decor, and since they don't have a kitchen on site, they allow you to have food delivered from anywhere you like, and you can eat it right there on their bar counter top!!!! Seriously awesome. Very relaxed, lovely staff.
F.
Great bar with friendly staff all round! I was especially impressed by the security guy at the door ( 3/3/16), very good to have courteous and happy person welcoming people in and not being confronting or all macho, its things like these that make an enjoyable night out with friends good.
The bar staff were great and handed us drinks menus straight away and attended to our needs. I especially enjoyed the selection of beers and whiskeys (Pilsner, Brooklyn) and the female friends I was with also loved their cocktails (Notorious, St Charles).
The ambience and quirkiness in having that New Orleans and variety of music playing was cool.
All round, can't fault it and would definitely go back again.
C. T.
Awesome cocktail bar. A little bit of a speakeasy, with the unique Newtown feel. The bartenders know their stuff and the music is at a great volume. Good for groups and dates and a solo drinker looking for a bartender willing to take their money and their sorrows.
P. F.
Place was clean and tidy. Staff members were friendly. The drinks are pricey thou but overall nice place to chill and have drinks.
K. G.
Great bar and great atmosphere - fun/ cool decorations/ interior.
Even though the bar was packed we got served very quickly.
Great mix of music!!! But was difficult to chat over its volume.
Huge selection of cocktails and beers.
T. P.
Great bar in Newtown with a sneaky exterior and wonderful interior. This place is hidden behind an old butchers front but the insides are anything but. Dark wood and moody lighting make the inside of Duke a Earls, with ample seating and standing room. The bar tenders here are great with cocktails and also great is the selection of craft beers. Get here early on the weekend because it fills up quickly!
B. S.
I went here with a friend on a Saturday night, which admittedly is probably not the best night to have deep and meaningful chats. It was crazy busy and hard to get seats. The music, though a great selection, was way too loud given the number of people and lack of sound reduction in the walls. The drinks were great, as were the bar staff. I’d love to come back here on a week day to experience the vibe without the intensity of so many people.
C. C.
My favourite bar in Newtown.
Just behind the old Betta Meats shop front, is a dimly lit, New Orlean themed bar. The staff are amazing, the air of the place is comfortable. I love going there any time. A quiet drink in the afternoon, catching up with pals. Or coming in when its packed to the brim, and lines out the front..
The drinks are great, catering to my whisky tastes, a wide selection. All knowledgeable and awesome staff. It really is a great place to settle in for a few.
P. E.
As a designated driver, I wanted a non-alcoholic cocktail, but there were no options on the menu. The bartender prepared one specially for me. It was incredibly good! Much better than boring soda & lime offered in other places.
C. W.
Cocktails were on point, some very fancy options in the menu but also fine to order the classics. Very dark (hard to read menu) but a good atmosphere. Tables are small so harder for big groups. No diet coke available if that's your drink.
C. S.
Enter the facade of an old butcher and you will slip into a dimly lit bar - the shelves glistening with all types of spirits. The cocktails are great, the music is perfect to accompany a rye manhattan. Good craft beer selection and a relaxed crowd. Highly recommended
f. p.
I'm giving 3 stars because the venue is really nice but the bartender was very cold and not professional. The cocktail list is really attractive but in the end the cocktails don't have a great structure and are not well balanced.
Such a shame for an intriguing place like that.
H. D. H.
Went here recently. Love the whole place. Music was excellent. A young man served me who seemed really enthusiastic and passionate. Will be back for sure.
J. W.
You wouldn’t guess it when you see the facade on the outside, but inside Earl’s Juke Joint lies a huge bar and selection of spirits. The staff suggested a few drinks to us and all were hits!
S. K.
Absolutely love this place. It's such a hidden gem. The Ambience is simply amazing
J. S.
Wait was a bit long but the staff were absolutely amazing. The place was gorgeous and the drinks were delicious. I highly recommend the whisky sour!
m. w.
Really have to give a shout out to these guys. Rare to find a bar these days where the bartenders and workers provide a genuine caring service and not on a power trip to ruin your night. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting a nice place to have a drink and hang out at. Nice atmosphere and environment for an evening out.
K. G.
Great small venue, with a discreet entrance and fantastic dark atmosphere inside. Music is eclectic and always interesting, as are the many cocktails ($10 - $20) and beers on offer (nacho beer anyone?).
The team and service are relaxed and happy to help make your night a special one. The Bombay mix (free) is dangerously addictive.
R. M.
Super friendly staff, clean toilets, simple decor. Great selection of wines and cocktails, what more is there to ask for in a bar?
J. C.
Really like the place! Déco is really nice : not too big, not too small. Ambiance was really good. Above all: when I asked the barman for a cocktail à little more simple than the cocktail list (which look really nice but quite fancy), he was very friendly and came up with the best gin/lime/cucumber cocktail I ever tried!! Would definitely go back and ask for my spécial :)
D. S.
This place is perfect.
Great service, great beers, great scotches, some decent rums.
And it's hidden in plain sight on King st and remains pretty reasonably quiet early on a Friday eve.
And that cats are super cool about food arrangements...just ask.
E. L.
What a brilliant idea for a bar. The outside looks like an ordinary butcher shop. I walked past heaps of times and always wondered why there was a security guard standing outside at night until a friend took me there and BOOM it’s a BAR! 😂
Brilliant idea for a bar. Great drinks and great atmosphere
W. D.
Entrance is "hidden" look for the meat shop sign.
Nice bar with great drinks and cool bartenders who free pour the shots in the cocktails and do not measure it down to the last millilitre like some bars.
With your drinks you get complimentary spicy mixed nuts - yummy.
They also have seating at the bar but this actually then blocks off people who don't sit at the bar and trying to get through the seated people to order a drink - took me forever I get a drink!
M. C.
This place is Dark... I needed to shine my phone screen on the Drinks menu to be able to read it. Only two Beers on Tap. But the Wine selection is delicious.its a step up from most Newtown venues and I like it
T. D.
Great saloon feeling bar, wooden bar and fake (hipster) lowered corrugated weathered iron roof, little lamps and . Their signature cocktails are divine (try the one with vermouth and whiskey) and they have an all round good collection of spirits. Bar staff occasionally give lovely free drinks. The fake window and lack of sign are amusing.
However this bar is VERY NOISY AND VERY CROWDED. If you don't feel like fighting your way to the bar, I would recommend going on a school night.
J. P.
One of my favourite bars. Awesome whiskey and bourbon selection along with wines and the usual stuff. Great service and the vibe is electric!
i. s.
Great selection of whiskeys if you’re a whiskey lover, friendly and professional bartenders. Cozy and comfortable environment. Really enjoyed my time with my mates there.
Whiskey Lovers! Check out this place.
T. N.
Great bar. Very newtown. Always busy, nice atmosphere. Music is way too loud though, you have to shout at each other for conversation.
L. B.
This place is amazing if you can find it. Hidden behind some curtains in an old butchers the place is awesomely designed inside. The prices are a little bit high, but they're selection of drinks makes up for it. The staff are friendly enough, for this simple unpretentious bar.
M. G.
Great music and creative cocktails hidden behind the facade of a butcher shop.
A. T.
I was initially skeptical, due to having to queue outside on a freezing Saturday night for 10min as the venue was at capacity. Once inside it was much nicer, and seriously warm! Even at capacity there is room to move around, service at the bar was faster than most which was remarkable considering how busy it was. The venue itself does a great job of bringing an old school New Orleans vibe with dim lights and wall hangings of jazz musicians. A great place to hang out with a couple of friends, but be warned it's fairly hard to hear anyone talking unless they're close due to the loud music. My only gripe was that the music wasn't in-theme, focusing more on current R&B/Hiphop tracks. It would have been more in keeping to get some jazz jazz-influenced music instead, but not really a huge issue.
M. S.
Really enjoyed this bar...music was a relief - made for those lamenting the parasitic nature the Beiber world has had on the normal club/bar scene, atmosphere was relaxed and as friendly as you can hope for in Sydney on a sat night. As it is a converted butcher, the acoustics of the space are not well-fitted to a bar atmosphere, meaning even if the music is not too loud it is still really difficult to speak in a way that doesn't hurt your vocal box (this may just be my pet peeve - I believe all bars that do not involve a live gig or dancing should sway towards a noise level that allows people to chat comfortably as this is the main social activity taking place in bars). It was saturday night so this can be forgiven, especially as it seems the vast majority of their main demographic would probably like these things. I am assuming that this would be an ideal location for me on a quieter night or day and would not be so noisy. On busy nights though getting a drink is awkward due to the re-introduction of the bar fly area...I think the positives outweigh negatives of this...yes its a bit awkward when it is busy and you have to lean across people sitting at the bar in their own conversations and scream your order across them, however, this can kind of set up allows for a movement of flow that encourages sociability and ability to meet new people. All in all very good bar.
C. P. T.
My favourite bar in Newtown by far. Lovely easy-going bar staff, an upbeat vibe, great decor and lighting, and fairly priced drinks. Plus, the "secret" nature of Earl's Juke Joint adds an extra, fun touch.
A. C.
Good beer list and a cool place. However, even early, about 1900, on a Saturday night it was really noisy and almost impossible to hold a conversation. When it gets really busy I suspect everyone will just be yelling at each other. Otherwise I liked it.
R. H. (. P. C.
Love this place... Great space and atmosphere... Nice music... Music just not too loud (could be a little less loud for old farts like me)... Pricey though... Hence the 4 stars... Nearly all cocktails round 18, 19 dollars... That's a lot of money in my book
T. M.
Music was ok, cocktails were ok. Vibe was great, bartenders friendly and knowledgeable. Dimly lit which I like. Well set out - was just missing something. I don’t know what, maybe I was expecting too much. It was ok
I. C.
The place has one of the best vibes I've experienced in a bar. Outstanding service, fantastic music, and extraordinary cocktails.
T. S.
The crew here, mostly the manager Jemima, are some of the best people you'll meet. I've loved Earl's since it opened, despite how sad I was about the deli closing. Best vibes (and lighting) for a first date, second date, or 69th.
C. B.
Very busy, very cool, very good bar menu, very worth a visit! Loved Earls!
S. N.
good ole earls juke joint never disappoints. Fave lil bar around newtown. Great vibes!
K. K.
This place reminded me of the episode of Seinfeld where George manages to get into an exclusive party for models only to find a meat packing plant the next day. If not for the bouncer we might have walked right pass this place and missed the fun. Inside was a really trendy bar with a great staff and a friendly atmosphere. If you are ever in Newtown make sure you check this place out.
A. M.
Described by a friend as "that suspicious place" after seeing people slip in behind the curtain covering the door. But this camouflaged bar (orginal butcher shop frontage still in place) is probably Newtown's worst keep secret, already packed in the opening week. The place oozes character, from the 'secret' entrance - well not so conspicuous at 9 pm when the queue outside is curling down the street.
The bar is surprisingly cavernous, with a warm, cosy atmosphere and friendly bar staff. The music is good and the drinks are trendy. A massive plus is the $10 cocktails - of which I recommend the Phife Dawg. Simply delicious and a little too easy to drink. It's probably not so much a small bar but a tavern and although it's another "American" themed bar in Newtown, it's nothing like the others.
b. w.
They kept the betta meats shop front so huge+++ there. inside, it a long bar with lots of pictures on the walls and that's kind of it. Very now and they do $10 cocktails and $17/8 ones as well. Nice vibe and rambuctious. Bar guy was friendly. People dancing at the back. very newtown and this place is new. I like it.
A. K.
A great bar hidden behind a butchers signage. Decent choice of beers and excellent cocktail selection, plus free nibbles! Love their homage to Wu tang!
P. S.
I’ve been here for the first time last week, definitely one of my new favourite bars. Hidden place, great atmosphere!! Cute waiters.
S. T.
There's always good music here, it's got a good vibe. Lots of spirits, cocktails and the beer tastes good. They haven't tried too hard with the speakeasy/old time feel so it works.
A. R.
Massive bar. Good service, not too crowded, like all the Shady Pines offshoots. Don't get the Hobo Julep, was not tasty (was cheaper though), but sure the bar is quality otherwise. Just make sure it's worth the line if you're heading late.
C. G.
Delicious cocktails to be had! This place has a really cool vibe and worth a visit (if you can find it!). Can get loud so if you don't like that probably best to avoid
G. H.
Great cocktail list and fantastic atmosphere. Can be a bit busy if you go too early though
B.
Some excellent cocktails if quite a short list. Most of the staff were very friendly though some of them were very arrogant and rude. No food available just a wide range of beverages to choose from.
F. R.
Because of its sexy or mellow air (what ever mood you are in) suitable for hanging out and socialising while enjoying a good beer or signature cocktail and friendly staff but slightly pricy for punky Newtown it is a four star. You can easily sit there with few friends for hours and don't even realise how time passes.
T. T.
Went on Sat night - it was packed and very very loud. Conversation with one person involved shouting - not great. On the plus side it's gorgeous inside and very cool. No food on sale but they will let you bring snacks in.
S. T.
So relaxed, it's like someone removes the stress and worry from your shoulders as you walk through the door! Great drinks, friendly and contentious staff! Negroni made with love!
J. K.
Excellent staff and customer service with a great knowledge of cocktails and such, first time in my life I've enjoyed licorice in any form 10/10
A. F. W.
Love this place. Hidden away behind a butcher facade. Cocktails are amazing and a lovely speak easy atmosphere. Great date venue
R. M.
Went here on a sat night. Funky spot inside an old meat shop. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get in. Music is mostly hip hop and rnb...But the place closes at 12.30am! What the? I thought Newtown was outside the lockout zone?!
R. Z.
Great place! Awesome drinks selection with great cocktails, friendly staff and relaxed vibes. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Sydney :D
G. D.
Love how there are different cocktails everytime I visit and they're always so delicious!!
P. E.
This place is also known as Betta Meats or the Butchers (after the shopfront). It is a cool little bar that has some great drinks. It's often very busy, but worth the visit.
B. W.
Very cool. Fantastic drinks and bar staff have an almost encyclopaedic memory of cocktails. Great music and even better vibe. One of the best spots in Newtown.
a. a.
Awesome atmosphere, friendly bar keeps and a great wine and beer list if a quality mixed drink does not sound appealing.
E. B.
Just behind the unassuming door and empty window displays of Betta Meats lies Earl's Juke Joint, a dimly lit bar of dark woods and cast iron fittings. Sporting a packed out drinks menu, a beautiful back bar and a crew of dapper bartenders, it's an easy place to settle in for a few, whether you are sitting in the bar, or cuddled up in one of the booths. Also, check out the toilets—each door features a brass number like an old apartment block.
T. Z.
Visited when somewhere said this is the best bar in town. The cocktail was pretty good. The stuff is so friendly. But nothing really stands out.
A. B.
Awsome little bar on King Street newtown. Has a prohibition era vibe and has reasonable rum selection. Only 4 stars since the music in the place is very loud making conversation hard.
S. N.
Amazing bar tucked behind the old butchers shop makes it impossible to recognise from the street. Tucked behind the old facade is an amazing bar with great service. Awesome bar tenders who are down for a yarn.
B. C.
Great atmosphere. Great staff. Amazing selection of drinks, they can make practically anything.
A.
Very relaxed atmosphere...cool cocktails!
N. M.
Go for the ambience, stay for the warmth, awesomeness and amazing cocktails Jemima will whip up for you. She is definitely one of the city’s best bartenders and one to watch!
S. M.
Great music and good vibes. A little to dimmed and no service at all. You will need to clean yourself the table before sitting.
a. m.
Great little hidden bar with excellent cocktails and an intimate vibe
T. “. R. E.
Such a great bar. Super friendly stuff interesting drinks menu
A. M.
Really cool hipster bar! Dimly lit, hidden behind an unassuming butchery front and full of an eclectic crowd. The DK Flip was a choice cocktail - caramelised banana & rum, mmm.
M. G.
"Earl's Rule 2: Don't be Creepy"
As soon as I read this on the front of thier drinks menu I knew we would be friends. Earl's has a great friendly vibe with excellent New Orleans themed/ tough guy cocktails and the longest bar I have seen, love how everyone sins along together and bar staff know thier stuff.
M. C.
Awesome playlist of old tunes, barman recommended a great Scotch and the service was generally very good. Cool vibe.
D. S.
Great bar with amazing drinks. Love the decor - it feels like you are stepping into a prohibition-era speakeasy.
T. H.
Good atmosphere and delicious cocktails.
H. O.
Nice quaint little bar in the heart of Newtown. They have a large range of whiskies from your single malt scotches to your favourite bourbon whiskies.
A. L. (. i. a. F. F.
Ex butcher's shop *Betta Meats* is now masquerading as a bar in hip & trendy Newtown. I heard about this via friends and absolutely had to check it out for myself.
On Entry, you feel as though there's something clandestine with small groups huddled outside and a well dressed gentleman on the door. The original facade of the old butcher's shop still remains, along with the nylon curtains too.
Walking in, there's a sense of the cool, hip and happening crowd that is Newtown. A flourishing bar menu awaits with classics like a Hobo Julep to a Pina Colada.
Huddled under quaint picture frames and sitting in (what look like) church pews, are folks with candles in mason jars, little pots of Bhuja nibbles and a lot of merriment.
Definitely one to check out, the next time you're in the inner-west!
A. D. G.
Cool venue, looks like a butchery from the outside so you would walk straight passed it but it's definitely worth going in. Cosy atmosphere, good wine, friendly service, nice music.
S. C.
Cosy atmosphere, cool fit out, great drinks selection and a very warm welcome - will definitely be back.
M.
A hidden gem, just moved to the area and was great to find it around the corner. Lovely selection of whisky.
W. H.
Super cute place. Definitely hipster. It did get really crowded but the music and environment were great. I'd definitely go back on a week night.
R. R.
Great drinks, old style New Orleans vibe. Music a tad too loud, so it's hard to have conversations but we didn't seem to mind, too much.
L. H.
Love the rules and the skill of the bartenders. Plus the vibe is just fantastic. This is the place to take someone you want to impress.
N. J. D. S.
Wonderful "hidden" bar. Loved the atmosphere. The bar was quiet the evening we were there but we didn't mind it.
J. J.
great vintage atmosphere and decoration, excellent drinks
K. C.
Great staff and excellent drinks.
J. C.
Perfect spot to swing by for a local craft beer, glass of wine or cocktail. Service is friendly and helpful. Great decor!
Z. B.
The thing that struck me first was this amazing smell of wooden bar and freshly spilt liquor. It's a lovely, dark, atmospheric bar with great cocktails.
S. W.
Love this bar. Chilled out vibe and great wine menu. Staff are lovely
Y. M.
Definitely one of my favourite bar. Looks like a butcher's place on the outside with nice interior that's got a chilled vibe
S. M.
The atmosphere here is incredible, amazing ambience and delicious drinks
A. Z.
The bar has a great vib and the nar staff are good and are more than willing to mix up a cocktail that isnt on the menu
A. C.
Love the atmosphere and the stealthy looks of this place. + Cocktails
D. O.
A great place. Nice buzzing vibe but not overbearing. Friendly bar staff and tasty drinks.
S. M.
These bar staff know what they're doing. Be a barfly, order cocktails, they bring you great drinks, nuts, and a glass of fresh water
E. H.
An old butcher shop turned bar, Earl's makes an awesome cocktail. Look for the short queue and the butcher signage!
L. M.
The security guard out the front is horrifically rude. Understandably she puts up with a lot of unruly people, but we were treated terribly as if we were already causing trouble.
S. F.
I love this place! Amazing cocktails and great service every time!
M. B.
Great cocktails and music! I felt it was a tad too loud though, but maybe I'm just getting too old...
D. H.

Don't be fooled by the butcher facade, it's simple long bar serving a solid drinks menu. Cool vibes.
L. G.
Fun bar with friendly staff and good drinks. Quite loud, but not too the detriment of the vibe.
S. W.
Really Funky bar, hidden behind the facade of a Butchers, recommend getting there around 4pm on a Saturday as it gets busy - can be a bit awkward getting a drink since there are so many seats to sit at, at the bar - whiskey specials, cocktails
B. S.
Great vibe and atmosphere. Good selection of craft beers and whiskey.
K. N.
Awesome service, great atmosphere and, most importantly, delicious drinks! Will be back.
A. G.
Another speakeasy for Sydney, we don't have enough of them already. Not bad, but didn't feel the Crunk music suited the vibe.

Great speakeasy interior hidden behind Betta Meats facade. Cocktails could be stronger, but maybe that's because of NSW liquor licensing. Go for preprandials before it gets too crowded later in the evening.
