Popular location for pre-drinks and it’s easy to see why with cheap drinks. An Alize lemonade is only $8 and cocktails $12. The food is also great value, a steak and chips will only cost you $12 on some days. My mates and I come here all the time, whether its for drinks on a Friday night or before an event later on.

Tucked away in the middle of the city, it's a good place to grab a pub lunch. I assume it's equally fun in the evenings but haven't had a chance yet. The lunch deals are pretty good and worth it.

We came to this hotel last night. Wed 28th. Didn't know what to expect from previous reviews, so as usual we went to see 4 ourselves. Were greeted by a bloke (Michael) at the Door for all covid checks, nice bloke and very friendly and helpful. Then ordered a beer and wine from a very friendly waitress named Rose . What a great ambassador for the Pub. Couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, nothing was a problem. We had a slap and its a good set up with the pokies. But on arrival and entering the pub was a pleasant surprise, very clean and open venue. We had a great night. Moral of the story is to always make your own judgement and see for yourself because not all reviews are truthful.

When I went there was a 11.95 lunch special. Options were fish, sirloin, or burger. I got the steak and chips. It was quite good and all for the low price of 11.95. This is a great weekday sit down lunch option! I enjoyed my meal. Thank you.

Great pub/hotel in a good spot within CBD. Lunches and dinners very good. It’s a great day time meeting place, as it’s quite peaceful and pleasing during the day and is a sanctuary away from the busy street. Outdoor seating is convenient too. One of my preferred pubs. Food can sometimes take a while to prepare.

Food is great, and especially so for the price! I got a scotch fillet steak for lunch which was really nice for $20, better than ones I've had for twice that price. The $15 for a 300g schnitzel is also a great value and everyone in our large group was happy with their various meals. A colleague got a salmon dish that was great, and even their chips are good. We were also served without too much wait considering the size of the group, and every order was correct. We'll definitely be back.

Cheap, busy and spacious, Sanctuary is the perfect place to kick-start your night with a round of $8 Long Islands. Placed in the middle of the city, among some of the best night clubs and casual diners in Sydney, making a stop here will be easy and worth it. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is always welcoming, even if you're only coming in for a meal, rather than a drink. My only complaint was that the long Island alcohol (tequila rum and vodka) were all pre mixed into a single bottle, which sounds a bit dodgy and could perhaps explain its cheapness.

Came here on a family outing with Dave and the children. What a great night! Good food the chicken schnitzel was exceptional. Had a cheeky wine, very yummy. But Dave watched the kids ! I was there on a Friday and ordered dinner and a drink. The blues beef was great! When my order was ready the chef told me that she overcooked my steak and will re do it for me. 5 star service here! Drinks are decently priced for the city. A lot of seats available and a large outdoor smoking area.

I must admit that I liked the simplicity of this place and the sense of coziness. I really don't know I missed this place but it is a great place to chill out. And yeah, it is very noisy. *The only regret is that I met someone I should not and it ruined whole my day...

Very nicely presented pub. Comfortable lighting, lovely bistro, pool tables. The best pariah's corner (smoker's areas) I've seen in years The chef (Bivek) does an absolutely excellent blue steak (black Angus rump, seared and sealed to perfection, without getting to rare) and the steak cut chips are pretty good too. Bar staff are friendly and efficient. The only drawback is the Toohey's Old is bottled, not on tap - but a good selection of lagers is available on tap too.

We went on a Tuesday evening so it wasn't too busy but it would be easy to see this place filled on the weekend. There is decent value and both of our meals were enjoyable. We each had a different type of steak and while they were cooked properly and the portions were good, they were lacking a bit in the seasoning department. If you're getting the steak, best to add on a sauce for a couple/few bucks. As a traveller, the experience is a bit unique. You go up to the bar and place your order and after they ring you through you get a beeper. Once the beeper goes off you pick up your food/utensils/condiments. The food came fast (less than 10 minutes) and it was a nice experience overall.

This is a pub which is very popular with (east and South east) asian people on a Friday and Saturday night. It is a good pledge to go around 9:30 pm on a Friday night because that's when the happy hour starts. Drinks which were around $7.50 become $5 and it gets very busy. People are mostly in groups and drink here before heading onto a more expensive venue or one open later.

A hidden gem of a pub on the corner off Kent and Liverpool St. I was not expecting much of the bistro but was pleasantly surprised by the good value and food quality. Ask for the daily specials that are not listed on the menu. The downside there is not much of a view from this hotel. But this is perfect if you after some sanctuary.

Fairly priced drinks and good night-vibe. However, security is rather poor. I was carrying an empty plastic and an empty glass water bottle. I was denied entry because of my glass bottle which is fine, but I don't understand why they threw my other bottle away. I didn't even go in!

Good place to come for a meal before you head to the movies. You can usually find a seat here in the early evenings and come in if you want to have a drink and a chat with friends. Background music isn't too loud until about 9.30/10pm. Food menu has everything you'd expect for a pub, but the pizzas stand out as they're fairly large and served on long plates. Steaks and schnitzels are also well served.

A popular place to have drinks and food in the city by the looks of it. I usually go here to find my friends and I usually prefer to buy drinks when happy hour starts. I think this place is quite good as it's not so noisy even on Friday or Saturday night. It has both inside and outside seating so if you prefer smoking or sitting outside, this is the place for you. The outside tables don't get packed up until closing time, so if you prefer to seat outside and drink after midnight, this is a good place to go. They have happy hour here after 9:30pm, so if you want to pay less, come later but normally the drinks aren't that expensive. Plus if you want to eat, they have all the usual pub food and it's quite good here for dinner if you are hungry. A great place to hangout with your friends if want to go have some food and something to drink away from the main streets.

We came to the sanctuary hotel for lunch. I got the steak which was on special for 11.95 which is pretty good value. You definitely pay for what you get. The steak wasn't anything that special but I guess it was a cheap meal so it's ok. The hotel was nice and the staff were friendly

Went here on a Friday night with the boys. Had tons of drinks and they were all reasonably priced. Played card games at one of the back tables but unfortunately never had a chance to play pool at the tables in the back. Was pretty crowded, I suggest coming on a different day, but it was fun!
