Comments of Silverton Hotel
K.
A decent pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Dogs were allowed at the seating at the front of the venue only, which was in the shade so ideal. There was much more seating out the back area, but no dogs unfortunately. Food was okay, and good for a quick bite, and served on paper plates when we visited. One of the few places to get food in the area, and it does the job!
C. P.
Great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Their famous hot dogs lived up to the hype.
M. A.
Another one bights the dust! Good meals, cold beers and completing the bucket list!
Would recommend this outback pub to other travellers exploring the area.
Stopped in here for lunch, dinner and a few drinks. Fun fact they use special bio degradable plates to save on the amount of water they use around the property.
Also if you sit out the front for dinner you might have the local donkeys come and visit you which is pretty awesome.
B. T.
Great pub, cold beer and very friendly staff. Wished I could of stayed longer
P. J.
The best pub food I have ever eaten. The crew were very friendly and welcoming. Affordable and filling meals, I would definitely go there again.
D. C.
What a great pub! Silverton itself is a distant place, but one which we should all go to! A great spot with friendly staff, ice cold beer, a great history and accomodation to boot! The food is great also. You can't go wrong with a trip to this pub!!!
D. R.
Its an iconic pub that doesn’t need to have good food. So it doesn’t. Come for a drink and see the donkeys and check in. Leave your foodie critics at the door. This is their (sad) steak sandwich
S. H.
Clean interesting hotel. Tasty meals, tidy accommodations out back. Plenty of places to sit.
C. T.
Friendly staff.Good food. Cold beer. Lot of interesting paraphernalia. Good place to enjoy with friends.

Location ✅
Accommodation great✅
Peaceful, friendly setting ✅
Cleanliness✅
Bar, drinks, service ✅
Pub Meals =ordinary, menu boring & prices $$ ❌..... management needs to really consider reviewing the menu, prices & quality when this is the only place to eat in Silverton (& no the biodegradable plates isn't the problem).
N. P.
Wonderful town to visit, but the pub is absolutely fantastic, great beer, service, meals, and the publican and his wife are an absolute beautiful, intelligent, interesting pair of great people! Highly recommend!
A. A.
Gorgeous country pub, such friendly owners, great outdoor area, lots to look at, called in for a drink & was very relaxing... plus the dog is just beautiful also... really enjoyed it!
D. T.
Food was good, beer was cold.
Great atmosphere, good staff, loved it.
Highly recommend a visit
S. T.
One of the many unique pubs in Australia. Worth a visit for a beer & pub grub.
Customer service was really friendly and welcoming. There was plently of seating in outside, which was undercover.
Check out the ruins of BHP behind the toilets & say hello to Jack the bird.
D. C.
Great pub with lots of history and interesting pictures inside. Take in the atmosphere of Silverton by having a meal sitting out the front of the hotel.
B.
Great pub, well worth visiting, lots of pics of all the movies made there, Mad Max 2, Razorback, etc. A Mad Max museum there also plus other interesting places. Pub has a huge beer garden, there would be some unreal country music nights there.
K. M.
Great pub , lots to look at inside and around the back too. Very busy but managed to get a seat out front.
C.
A great place to go for lunch. Tasty meals and cold beers and friendly staff. The steak sandwich is a winner with egg, cheese and bacon included. The donkeys are quite an attraction and are fed and watered out the front of the pub. We went out there from Broken Hill for lunch and it was a nice drive. Don't forget to visit the Mundi Mundi lookout before or after calling in here.
T. P.
Awesome place so much character lovely staff great food
R. C.
Pub was friendly and the attractions are to look at. Take the time if your out that way.
c. h.
Great place to grab a drink and get a feed. Friendly staff and you might even get to meet the local donkeys!
J. V.
There is more to Silverton and the pub than Mad Max. It is documented by framed displays on the walls, also the drinks are cold and the meals are hot.
A must see.
O. H.
Nice food and friendly staff. Took a while to be served but is understandable as it was a very busy time. Worth checking out.
E. S.
Great old pub with a lot of Mad Max photos and stuff. Nice place to sit and have a cold beer. 👍
N. H.
Great stay after a long day in the saddle.
Pete and Patsy have a great pub and the on-site accommodation was superb as was the dinner and breakky.
Highly recommend a stay at the Silverton Hotel.
M. M.
Great atmosphere and food, another great outback pub with lots of filming history
C.
Iconic and great vibe. Excellent pub grub too!
G. M.
40 years since my last visit. It's Best... Better than ever! A FANTASTIC adventure with lots to see and do. Food is GREAT, and accommodation is excellent. A sudden DOWNPOUR & associated flooding 'forced' us to spend all day in the area/pub. Sometimes you can be lucky!!
K. N.
Had the hotdog with the lot for lunch and had a quick look around the pub. The beer garden looked great, but ate inside because it was a rainy day. Came back in the arvo for a few drinks as the road was flooded heading back to Broken Hill. Heard a few updates from staff about the water levels and read all the quotes hanging from the ceiling to pass the time. Not sure because of Covid or if it's to stop people from hanging around the bar too long, but there was no stools in the bar area, except for a table for two in the corner near the fire place. A must place to visit if you visit the Broken Hill/ Silverton area.
D. C. &. N.
Excellent outback pub with a lot of character, staff are friendly and beer is cold! Patrons are always friendly and up for a chat and if you hang around long enough you will get a friendly visit from 2 locals 'Jenny & Diggy' the town donkeys. This pub is backed up with an awesome historic town with a lot of history from the 1800's. We make this place a must visit when heading out in the outback! can't wait to return.
J. P. r.
I enjoyed a beer and a meal here, it’s a bit of a tourist trap but a fun day out from Broken Hill . If your a Mad Max fan you will find some relics from the movie here
M. J. (.
A classic outback town that goes right back to the silver prospecting days of the 1880’s with a classic hotel, the Silverton Hotel. Well worth the drive just to say you have been and walked through. Oh and grab a drink while you are there.
S.
What an amazing place. The owners are such great people. Friendly, fun and happy people. This is such a fun unique place to visit. A must see.
P. S.
Real 'outback' pub/hotel, about a hour from Broken Hill.
Very good food, very casual, staff were OK and the place was very clean. Large eating areas as well as the bar.
They run special events in a large area with a stage. They have a few motel rooms that looked quite nice.
Not many other places to stay in Silverton.
D. V.
Picturesque outback pub, if you are in town take your time to have a beer in the front veranda, the scenery is the stuff of legend, characteristic interior decor with many references to the local lore and large outdoor dining area with a country music stage that is worth checking.
The home made schnitzel was very good and reasonably priced.
All in all recommend!
B. B.
Great to visit such an iconic pub.
T. P.
What an awesome little Pub. Great outdoor area. Meals ok. 2 local Donkeys to meet and greet Visitors. 👍😁
A. P.
Nice remote historic town pub, memorabilia covering the walls and a large undercover beer garden. The Tooheys old is good
J. A.
Another iconic location that should not be missed. Close proximity to caravan park and the Mundi lookout. Good food available here that is family (child) friendly. If you have travelled far enough to get to this location you should not miss this place.
T. M.
The location of the movie Mad Max. There were many pictures of that time on the wall of the bar of this hotel.
M. C.
Always a great place to visit. The hotdogs are sure to impress, the beer is always cold. Today we even had a donkey visit !
P. L.
A decent meal and interesting pictures from the making of Mad Max 2 and other movies made in the area. A lot bigger than I imagined.
A. C.
Great place to stay, the rooms are big and the people are nice.food is so so but not bad
d. F.
Such a great pub in an outback town!
S. K.
Amazing place in middle of desert. Very cozy and nice collection of historic artifacts.
J. K.
Great outback pub. Pub is a focal point for movies, advertisements and history. 20 minute drive from Broken Hill. Try the hotdogs.
I. M.
Great Australian pub amazing atmosphere and a completely unique experience, full of amazing memorabilia, great service and cold beer, good for kids also with a massive kids area follow me on Instagram @isaac_martignago
D. L.
Very historic Hotel used in many movies and name changes. Interior walls covered in memorable photos. Good outdoor area and band stage.. very popular
D. G. (.
Had a magic time, great meals and cold beer. Met the local donkeys too. Couldn’t believe they come rite up to the door. Would have loved to have been there on a night when the stage was rocken coz you can just imagine the atmosphere outside on a warm night. Miss the place and the outback red dust.
m. c.
A little historical pub, in this amazing town Silverton, great for a refreshing drink as needed as it get pretty hot.
W. H.
A must see Hotel. Gr8 Food, Cold Beer
A Very Friendly Welcome. And a Awesome Ride to get There. 😎
E. R.
Was expecting a nicer quality sausage but ate it . Mash was pretty good. Coffee and cold drinks.
G. B.

Best bush bar in NSW!!!Extremely love this place!
J. P.
What a place , bloody awesome , good staff , some great history , accomodation is comfortable. Highly recommended
o. s.
Love the place the people the atmosphere....oh and the Hotdogs 😁
T. T.
Peter and Patsy were lovely hosts. Food was awesome and so well priced. Not expensive and drinks were cheaper than other pubs we've been too. Place has so much to look at inside the pub and the town is so interesting. Mad Max museum well worth a look. Helps these towns survive! Do take some cash as internet dodgy out there only telstra works sometimes!! Can buy takeaway grog at the pub too. Pub accommodation was clean and priced accordingly to location and convenience. We left our vans at Mildura and went up for the night. So glad we did! Broken Hill quiet but can kill a few hrs there too.
Enjoy guys 😉
L. R.
Friendly service and burger with the lot was amazing!! The meat patties on the burgers are very tasty.
N. T.
Accommodation was excellent and the whole team treated us like locals. First rate pub grub. Bed was very comfortable. Great views,
peace and quiet, very relaxing. We look forward to visiting again and maybe bringing some friends along next time.

J. S.
Nice stop point for a beer and food before heading to the sunset view
J. B.
As expected - lovely country hospitality Great food, icy cold beer, little oasis out of Broken Hill. Accomodation was excellent. Staying provided plenty of time to explore all Silverton and surrounds have to offer.
l.
Amazing place, full of history and excellent for an early breakfast.
S. M.
Peter and Pat. Have nailed this pub and accommodation. Just brilliant. The winning inside and out great. Lots of beer and wine options. Stayed the night best accommodation. Unqualified must go and stay.
C. C.
We stopped here for lunch while exploring Silverton. Inside the bar is lots of memorabilia and the funniest little sayings/quotes/fun facts hanging from the roof. Friendly staff and quick service. The parmigiana was really yummy. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in the beer garden. You can however sit with them out the front. Given the large beer garden there was no issues with social distancing! I highly recommend stopping here when in town.
S. I.
Loved this place. Friendly, good food and atmosphere, very hospitable. The accommodation was the best we have stayed in our travels. Very spacious, clean and modern.
L. M.
We enjoyed our lunch at this iconic outback hotel. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was good quality pub food. The friendly donkeys were fun.
S. D.
A great spot. Not many alternatives in town so they have the market cornered. The service was always cheerful, prompt, the beer cold and the food was terrific.
C. G.
Stayed at the Silverton Hotel for a night in September. Wonderful little pub, good food, cold beer with great accommodation. Silverton is a wonderful little spot, made better by this little place. The publican and his staff are very friendly and helpful.
During these COVD times I recommend you give your hard earned to places like this one. Well worth the investment.
Z. “. F.
Cool place for a cold beer on a hot day... plus interesting things in bottles.
G. C.
Huge steak sandwiches & cold beers. Pity 'bout the flamin flies. Lots of memorabilia and Australiana.

It's a unique place for sure. Would love to come back for one of the events they're organising. Surprisingly good coffee from automatic coffee machine. Lots of pictures and Mad max memorabilia. Although open early lady behind the bar was very nice and helpful and two very friendly furry friends completed this great experience.
j. c.
Friendly service with a smile. Basic pub meals at a reasonable price. Good range of cold drinks.
T. K.
This is an awesome town and a fantastic pub with loads of memorabilia. Food was great too
T. O.
Good little watering hole. The food is not bad either. Enjoyed the antics of the resident donkeys and dog, as well as the cockatoo. Pleasant, chilled atmosphere, friendly staff too. Has a good stage too and gets the occasional performer. Also has attached clean and tidy accommodation. Definitely worth a visit and even a stay to experience outback hospitality and quirkiness, right at the edge of the outback.
C. C.
Great atmosphere, good food. Service great. Kids welcome, plenty of seating indoor & out.
t.
Stayed in the hotel rooms for two nights midweek recently.
Great service by the staff, the room was clean, spacious, nice bathroom with a good shower. Pub food was good and priced fairly. Also can't go wrong when they have a pub dog (and donkeys).
Great place for a night or two, I highly recommend stopping in.
H. P.

Good food at reasonable prices. There was plenty of seating, the staff were friendly and there was even a kids play area. Loved the atmosphere of the bar and the toilets were nice and warm as well. Definitely a great place for a quick bite when visiting Silverton. The donkeys were really friendly too :-)

Great place to visit and see first hand. Shame about the arrogant female bar person.
R. H.

Auto Coffee machine but good coffee and cakes. Lovely warm fire on a cold day.
L. B.
Fantastic meal.. lots of quotes on the ceiling to read while spending time there
J. H.
Great place made to feel very welcome stayed for lunch very popular place.
P. O.
Stayed overnight in room out back. Very clean, well laid out rooms in a area with your own old building ruins to look at. Cold beer, great food, friendly owners and staff. Glad we made the detour to visit.
A. C.
I think all Australians, before going overseas, should visit this brilliant pub to see what the outback really is like. The beer was perfect, the locals interesting and we were very pleasantly surprised with our modern rooms and amenities. Loved it we must go back...............
J. H.
Nice food for an outback pub. Very basic but done well. My only gripe is that the consumption of food is outside. It's hard to eat and whack away the flies at the same time. And the use of paper plates...yeah you save a bit of water but at the cost of trees. Surely with economical dish washers you can wash a few plates.
T. M.
Great little pub with friendly staff, worth the extra 30 or so kilometres from Broken Hill if you are already travelling through. Jack the Cocky didn't have much to say though, so that was a slight disappointment.
F. D.
Iconic spot. Friendly staff but a little overpriced.
Really nice atmosphere even in covid times. Would definitely recommend!
J. S.
Great atmosphere, plenty of food choices and friendly people.
Paper plates to save precious water.
S.
Fantastic pub in the outback, this is a must visit for anyone in the region. Do yourself a favour and park yourself here for a few froffs and one of those epic hot dogs with the lot.
T. R.
Great pub, fantastic accommodation
O. T. C.
Great food an great atmosphere.
M. J. F. l.
It's worth the trip out to Silverton to take a photo and say you have had a beer in this pub alone
I. H.
Very interesting old Hotel! I wished I could have stayed longer. I definitely will return, when the opportunity arises.
C. M.
Great burger! Friendly staff. Bit of Aussie history. Mad Max , Razorback and Town Like Alice all filmed in this bizarre landscape. A true eye opener!
J. M.
This place has a cosy atmosphere and many articles and pictures on the walls to keep you occupied for quite some time. Great range of beers, and you can pick yourself up some great souvenirs. Location is great, in the middle of nowhere.
k. d.
Very nice. Food was good, beer was good. Pub was located in the middle of nowhere. Not much else is around but if in Broken Hill it is worthy of a visit. Can't complain. Staff very friendly and helpful and helpful.
P. W. P.
Great wedges and beer in an outback pub well worth the drive.
J. R.
Interesting place lots to look at love the sign hanging from roof outdoor area looks amazing
B. S.
We enjoyed a cold beer, but the wait for food was over an hour, so we gave it a miss.
A. T.
After a walk around the historical sites in Silverton, & a visit to the Mad Max Museum, this hotel was a great place to rehydrate 🍺 The staff were so friendly, & we went back there in the evening for meals to take back to our camp in Penrose Park. The food is amazing..good old out back country cooking. Visit if you are ever in the area 😁
L. K. B. L.
Great atmosphere and wonderful hospitality. The hot dogs are humungous! The perfect stop after exploring the roads around Silverton. Impressed to find clean toilet facilities too. Was a little sad that the donkeys were no where to be seen.
F. M.
This is a great place to take visitors. There is history going back well beyond Mad Max, you just need to look and ask a local. The beginnings are what Australia is made of, heart, mateship, determination and hard graft.
A. D.
What a place and experience it's like a movie set
N. W.
Fantastic food, friendly service. Great town with amazing history and the kids fell in love with the pet donkeys
K. 1.
Beautiful hotel, very old school. Lots of wonderful things to look at inside. Service was friendly. The only thing was the food wasn't all that great. Very dry and tasteless. I was happy to have seen it, but I wouldn't go back anytime soon.
K. M.
Great place to talk to the locals check out the VW grom Mad Max movie
J. M.
Absolutely love it.. the meal was beautiful the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was perfect. What an amazing place to have donkeys come and say hello
P. m.
My wife and I recently visited the outback town of Silverton, made famous for two significant reasons. Firstly it was where the very first Mad Max movie was 'shot' on location and secondly (but more importantly) the fantastic pub, the Silverton Hotel. The nearby recreational reserve of Penrose Park is ideal for camping and has powered caravan sites, just a short walk from the historic town and pub. Meals are available from breakfast to dinner in OR out of the bar in a variety of settings but recently the chilly weather made drinks and meals in front of the open fire the obvious choice. Brilliant food at reasonable prices makes for a memorable experience and a chat round the bar with the resident owners can add a delightful dimension. The pub has cabin accommodation built in harmony with the outback buildings of this tiny town. Silverton is a must when visiting Broken Hill. I strongly recommend a visit. The town really has so much to offer, we will be back!!
J. D.
Friendly & welcoming staff. Self-serve coffee machine makes a pretty decent coffee, if a touch on the bitter side. Make sure you select the 'double shot' option if you like strong-ish coffee flavour, otherwise it's a bit insipid.
L. R.
This place rocks! Awesome history, amazing décor and great food! The hamburger and the steak sandwich are delicious! The accommodation is fairly new and very comfortable. Great place to stay for a few nights and explore historic Silverton.
P. D.
Pretty nice old pub good atmosphere
J. P.
Great food and beer, the owners do a great job!
T. &. K.
Aussie pub with lots of memorabilia of movies that have been shot nearby. Has great atmosphere and staff are friendly. Plenty of seating in shaded areas and meals available.
J. C.
Awesome historical outback pub with great owners. The food is good quality at a reasonable price. These types of pubs is what makes Australia great.
V. D.
Iconic outback pub in Silverton. Stop in for a beer at the very least.
J. T.
Very top quality accommodation at the back of pub.
Nice bar. Nice food. Great atmosphere
R. “. W.
Nice old pub. Pity the food gets served on a paper plate instead of a proper plate. Pretty slack that the kitchen cant do dishes. Cold beer, so that's the main thing.
L. W.
Great little pub with a lot of movie history. Lots to look at with your drink.
W. O.
This place is a real gem. In Silverton.
Owner took my lunch order, think she said she had been there since 1947 or maybe she said been there for 47 years ~ She has been married for 50 years.
Really bright person, I enjoyed the time spent there I couldn't believe how many table & chairs there were for customers? I got the impression that there weren't that many people in Silverton?
Don't miss it ~ Another bit of old & nice Australiana
William
R. S.
Such an iconic pub
P.
The only thing colder than the beer was the barmaid serving it.
Such misery. I can only assume she spends the nights banged up in the old Gaol.
That aside, it’s a proper Outback pub and definitely worth a visit.
D. T.
Fantastic hotel great staff, brilliant food and excellent comfy rooms , thanks from The Aussie Trikers
B. W.
What a great spot, highly recommend popping in for a drink and a meal, staff very friendly as well

G. B.
Great atmosphere, apostle birds were fun to watch.
G. D.
Silverton, great place to explore, not a lot of buildings left but what are there are very interesting. It is the old 1800 town where the mad Max films were made and there is lots of photos in the hotel of the actors who were in the film. Also food was excellent.
A. H.
Went here christmas of 2017. Very cool vibe, staff were friendly and food was good. If you want the authentic ozzy desert saloon experience, come here. As a Canadian heading back to Australia soon, I look forward to visiting the silverton hotel again.
