The ambiance is great.
Unfortunately, dancing, singing and standing were prohibited at that time.
Otherwise, I still had a good time with my friends.

Great place. Here does daily happy hour (see website for details), $10 dinner menu (i bought chicken parmi. It came out a bit burnt but ay for $10 id say its bargain) and yeh great atmosphere here. Nice spot located in the heart of LGBT Sydney on Oxford Street. Like many places in Sydney, there's a lot going on here.
Firstly, it's not a hotel at all. It's a bar/casino/drinking/eating places. Mostly people go for drinks and food. They have food specials. There's dj entertainment as well as drag.
Staff are friendly and drinks arr good. Great variety of beers on tap. The local drag diva's have stars on the floor throughout the place and it adds to the overall kistch of the place.
Nicely designed decor nothing ever the top.
J. C.
This is a very good place to see some high quality magnificent drag show, I'm very happy to be there with my friend and it's good to see many older gay guys are around, with some pretty ladies around. Some photos are attached as the stonewall history
R. R.
Quick stop for a cool beer.
The divas bar is better than the busy area in stonewall.
Nice and friendly staff.
T. P.
Best dance venue in Sydney! Saturday nights on the top floor is my pick 😏
D. B.
Had some Long Island Ice Tea's on an early Thursday evening because they were on special. The service was friendly and enjoy the small outdoor sidewalk area.
S. L. V. M.
Wonderful place to know and to meet new friends. It's a good gay party that happens with incredible Drag Queen's performances
D. L.
This is a fun, iconic Oxford St gay bar. It's named after the Stonewall Inn in New York where a series of riots and violent demonstrations by the gay community against a brutal police raid that took place in 1969. It has always been a safe space and a prime location during the Mardi Gras or to see a drag performance.
N. F.
This place is an institution. You simply have to go there. Great entertainment, happy hour has to be the cheapest in Sydney and the staff are all fabulous. You can even get a meal! Be sure to check out one of the fabulous drag shows. Highly recommended
M. V.
I always go to stonewall with friends. I really like this bar. It is perfect to go there with friends or some other company. The music is good. Also you can listen different music in the ground level , in the first level or the second one. In the latter you will find electronic music, the whole night. That level usually opens later that the others. Surely for the quantity of people they have. They have also funny drag queen shows who “sing”. I love seeing there. They also dance with nice performances. If you come to Sydney, you definitely have to go there. Gay friendly. All public is welcome
J. L. H.
Brilliant drag nights and delicious food. Will be back soon!
D. S.
All in all it's just another stone in the wall...
Amazing club with 4 different bar areas each with their own vibe and style. We stopped here for 1 quick drink and didn't leave for 4 hours! As someone who is straight it was an amazing atmosphere with no trouble or bad vibes. Can't wait till the next visit
M.
As you walk into this big part of 🏳️🌈 history you notice the sign in table hehe. Look at the wrap around bar as you turn and notice the stars on the wall with all the colour and glitter it's fabulous!! Grab a beverage and take a seat (covid laws) Outdoor seats are great to watch the world walk by. Staff are happy to help and friendly. Very easy going patrons.
j. e.
Very nice bar that is usually more crowded in the weekends. It's a gay bar, but it actually is for everyone. I'm straight, I work there and I can assure its fun for all kinds of people. If you wanna enjoy a fun night out in Sydney definitely visit Stonewall.
I. T.
Great venue just an issue with the security. If you get kicked out or refused entry due to intoxication and you believe you aren’t get their name and complain through email the next day or complain to management during the day when its not busy. Security are too strict these days in New South Wales and it takes quite a few drinks quickly to trigger intoxication. Some people have conditions that make them appear intoxicated when they are perfectly sober and that is outright discrimination
I love the stonewall, gets busy at times but fun to be at. The drinks are priced a bit high which is another disincentive to get intoxicated and the entertainment could be better otherwise great venue apart from the security potentially ruining your night
A. P.
Not a bad bar. Good drinks. The male patrons were really nice to me. I couldn't believe one guy bought me a drink. So kind. I think the men from my church group should come here to learn a few things about manners
t. s.
A great night had by all
J.
Look, it's not the best. But, it's an icon and one of the last few gay clubs in Oxford St. Which are an endangered species now thanks to the (nanny) state's stupid lock-out-laws.
G. S.
Amazing environment, great themed nights! I will definitely be back.
The only bad thing I can say about the place is when my English friend ordered a gin and tonic they always gave me a gin and soda, probably just the accent/language barrier but very annoying especially when the bar tender complains it's our fault. Ruined my night a little bit 😔
j. m.
Great place to have a beer or two during the day and get completely wasted at night. Open environment with three levels and drag shows on weekends. Great for a night out for anyone willing to dance till 4am ! Free entry and they don't judge ..unless you are completely trashed..then hun .. I'll get you an Uber thank you next. Overall can't complain, just not my scene anymore since I'm ancient now :D
W. M.
Best camping and fishing in region the weir near by is a mud hole know water yet is packed with camper's I'm hear by my self great water access
M. M.
I HAD A DRAG QUEEN LICK MY FACE - I SAID THANKYOU, Now lets Dance!
m. d.
Great bar for a good mix of gay community all inclusive, straight/ gay embracing and drag shows. Food is cheap and reasonable til about 9pm. 3 levels and able to book floors for private parties/ functions. Great atmosphere and music is mix of trashy, trampy, remixes and pop
F. C.
Good music. Nice crowd mix. Good armosphere.
R. H.
Worth a look! Not really knowing the area, this club had a great vibe and inviting entrance. Fairly reasonable priced drinks and the staff were friendly. After visiting several venues on Oxford Street, I found this one the most entertaining, fun, happening and the music was fantastic. Drag Queen shows were funny, well prepared and engaging. Only negative was the toilets not being very clean, but that seems the norm in most clubs. Thanks Stonewall for a great night out!
A. R.
Such a great place to catch up with friends and have a few drinks the drag shows are super fab!
The first level can sometimes get a little crowded so I like to go up to level 2 and work the cage. If you really need to work your two left feet though, level 3 has all the room you need
R. H.
Drawn here by its name, we're glad we stopped in - loved the space! They have a great happy hour with a good mix of people, with a mostly friendly bar staff. We didn't eat any of the food, but it looked delicious (and plenty of people were ordering both times we visited).
J. B.
The Stonewall is one of the best gay venues in Sydney to meet new people. The vibe and culture on the ground floor means you can mingle around and not feel out of place even if you're alone. Staff are always super friendly, highly recommend :-D
R. M.
Open 7 days at week is a nice place to have a beer, snacks or food with friends or a good company.
Happy hour 4:30 to 9:30 a place to chill and relax. Nachos are good and steak is delicious.
R. G. L.
The place is old and not good looking, but I'd consider it like the most classic and iconic gay pub in Sydney, 3 levels of fun, all of them are smelly but full of fun. Another factor is that get crowded and the heat is insane. Not good ventilation
S. B.
Fun,safe,place.
M. M.
This is the place for people who would like to have some RAW fun! This place is absolutely fantastic for people who are looking forward to drop all boundaries, meet people and learn about new cultures. It's a LGBTQ friendly club, where everyone is accepted with open arms.
Cheers! 🥂
S. A.
So much fun in this place, love going, highly recommended, only issues is its a bit sleazy. Otherwise perfect, the drinks are great price.
B. K.
Great party pub on oxford street with all sorts shows on offer on 3rd floor (no lift-must climb heaps stairs to get2quaint stage&bar) coz night club opens on 2nd floor while watching shows on 3rd!!!! Lots of character in old pub that they try2keep on top of maintenance with!!!!!
S. -.
Great atmosphere for a show and some drinks - hang with friends.
M. C.
I went here recently with friends, and it situated on the lively strip of Oxford Street, is very busy most nights, and service at the bar is friendly and efficient, the crowd you get is generally friendly, and quite global, I met people from America, Germany, and New Zealand who came all the way to check out one of the best gay clubs in Sydney.
My only small issue and I am sure others have stated the same is the heat in the bars, there were people who were nearly fainting on the night I went there, and I think the establishment need to think of a better cooling system in the hotter months, granted I am from Melbourne and we aren't use to Sydney heat and humidity, even on the ground level opening the front windows would make a massive difference, that is my only qualm.
If you are looking for a fun night out, with great funny Drag shows and hits from the 90s 00s and now this is the place for you
J. P.
Was here with my younger brother and he said I’d like this place and I did.its very nice like a old pub style until it’s gets later on and the place is crowded with people. I am an ex-restaraunt and bar manager and I just need to say it that it is very unusual that the bloody downstairs bar is so huge and everyone has to squeeze through a tiny gap between the bar and the stage to get to the bloody bathroom. I would consider fixing this and the smell if I was the manager. But overall the place is great and soooo much fun.a few to many Lon islands methinks.
S. S.
Great icon of Sydney city night life! A fun night with fantastic staff. The place welcomes all diversity and everyone, though its famously known for its drags shows and flamboyant crowd. A great night out for anyone.
S. D.
Have enough drinks, don't throw up, and this will be one of your most memorable, if you can remember it, nights in a sydney gay bar! 3 floors of different music. Toilets as everyone says are pretty bad but like I said if you're drunk it won't matter. Thursday through Saturday are peak days as per all bars/clubs in the area. Enjoy!
A. W.
Very busy location. Can be difficult to find a place to stand, sitting is even more difficult.
Constantly having people brushing past you trying to walk through.
Drinks are average - not too flavourful for the postmix and spirits. Average prices for the area.
Music is standard 'gay scene' for a bar. Bar staff must have submitted their photos with their applications.
This place is probably a good middle ground between a quiet pub and a boisterous night club.
E. C.
Great atmosphere! We stopped by this bar while visiting the city, we were there on a Monday and to our surprise it was crowded! Great experience, good prices for drinks. We also got to see a small drag show performance.
R. P.
The dancing hall is not spacious and it's too crowded. Not well designed, smelly terrible toilets and not air conditioned. It just feels really humid and hot and, muggy air would not let you dance the way you want to. Not to mention their confusing mirrors which kept me thinking that it's another room.
C. A.
free entry and convenient deals for beers in the afternoon. gay friendly crew and good selection of beers are a plus! walk until the end of oxford street and jump in if you like pop music and the friendly aftmosphere of "dancing queens". also busy at night, with upstairs floors with bar and dance floor until 5 in the morning at weekends!
J. J.
The best LGBTQ+ pub in Sydney. Friendly staff and always you can meet people old fashioned way.Verushka Darling show on Friday is a must to see and she is the queen of draqs in Sydney
E. B.
this is a really fun club and brilliant if you want a crazy night out. There are many different floors with great music. There are also podiums that are great to get up on when you are really drunk. The staff are friendly and the service is quick.
D. W.
Great bar for a good mix of gay community all inclusive, straight/ gay embracing and drag shows. For me the best Place to make Gayparty in Sydney! Friendly Personal and good DJ's. Greets from Switzerland
D. H.
Came here to get catch up with a friend. Bouncers and staff were great to deal with, friendly and very professional.
R. M.
Once a year to get out and party it was the best time thanks to my bff, my bff closest friend and my bff sister in law. It was wonderful, crazy, fun and absolutely fabulous night.
J. S.
This is my favourite bar/club on Oxford Street.
The atmosphere is the most trendy, upbeat and ppl are most smiley.
The place is colourful and always 'happy' with what I would refer to as the best lighting for a club/bar. It is not too dark to attract the seedy and unapproachable, at the same time not too bright, where the lighting brings out the best in their clients.
The drag shows are very well choreographed on this tiny stage, which are performed every hour between 10 to 2am and are always funny and there to delight. The place is gay and straight friendly (and in-between friendly too )
MOst of the time, Stonewall manages to hire the best looking bar staff in Sydney :)
Drinks are very mid-priced here, hence attract the younger crowd.
Be careful if you just turned 18 and coming here for the first time though. You might be bullied onto the stage by one of them big drag queens just be.cause you're attractive.
Overall, the best most friendliest place on Oxford street.
T. S.
Friday and Saturday night dance floor music could improve dramatically. A lot of the time the music is boring and drives u out of there onless yr on drugs and clueless about everything.
C. O.
It is a cool place to go on fridays and saturdays! You can find a lot of different people. Personally i like going there on saturdays because the musics are more pop! The second and third floor are for dancing and the first is to flert! The drinks are cheap and with you make friends with the bartenders the become cheaper! People there are friendly, but be careful! Don`t get too drunk otherwise you can be kicked out!
J. G.
Great atmosphere, staff and music! The drinks are priced appropriately too. 3 levels to choose from so should suit anyones night out.
J. A.
Stonewall is always a great night out.
Upstairs is a little more dead and could do with a bit of a reno... Maybe a pole or 3?
Regardless - they have drinks, music, dance floor, shows and an area out the back for the smokers.
Oh and Mr Crackles is a few shops down for that after town snack :)
A. S.
The place is ok
The security is good service is little slow but depends on the crowd how ever good music and having the choice of upstairs dj of down stairs having the dragqueens putting on a good show can't complain
A. T.
3 story bar/club so you'll have no trouble finding a style of music to your liking. The 2nd level gets a bit crowded as the night progresses, so sometimes there's a bit of a line. Cheepish drinks and cute boys, can't really complain
A. J.
Colourful. Three levels. They have amazing drag shows on weekends. The crowd is mixed (LGBT and others)
f.
One of the last surviving Oxford St icons from the Sydney Gay Liberation era of the 80's. A must visit
L. L.
Still one of favorites places around
S. M.
Always a good go-to on Oxford Street.
Could use some better management of capacity on levels, including the courtesy of the staff. But in the type of environment that bars/clubs are, it’s a hard job to do. Keep on keeping on.
b.
Straight girl in a gay bar. What fun. Drinks reasonably priced, music fabulous. I danced all night, you will too!
S. H.
Went here for Sunday night after Mardi Gras. This was my first time attending and also my first time coming to Stonewall :) Really did have an amazing time and danced with so may hot and amazing people
Can't wait to come back
P. U.
The beer's not cheap, the floors are sticky, and it is looking a little less chic than it used to, but it' one of the last Oxford St gay institutions left. Take it or leave it..
P. N.
Oh Stonewall. The stayer of Oxford Street, and many a seedy night. Look, you only really want to come here for drag shows, and when you all kind miraculously end up here. Level 3 is a little dark (designed for dancing straight up - I actually spent a fair whack of my early twenties on this level, at least when I wasn't at Arq). Level 2 is the cocktail level, but it gets a bit crowded. Level 1 is the seedy cesspit where you watch great drag queens strut their stuff on stage. But like, if you're feeling classy and civilised, avoid - you won't leave Stonewall feeling clean. ESPECIALLY if you have friends who smoke: the smoking zone is toxic. Fun times though if you're out for drunk and dancing (though hey...consider Palms, which doesn't pretend not to be seedy).
I. G.
The music on the first floor is pop, in the second and third floor ring eletonic songs. To the best dance floors are the second and third floors. If you are in search of love, the first floor is the right place. Drinks are very expensive, so I recommend that you drink before you leave home.
G. C.
Kitschy gay bar in the Sydney gayborhood. A little small but a welcoming and fun crowd the night I went. Not bad for a week night excursion!
Y. D.
Dance floor is always hot and drag show was great. It’s usually crowded.
But the bathroom smells funny and I saw a guy pee on the floor...
M. D. S.
This is a cool club. Great music they have a great daily specials for pub food each day. The venue could do with a refurbishment. It has great music and its free to get into
J. T.
Good fun, particularly if there is drag on. Toilets may need a refurbishment though.. bar staff okay. Good cheesy tunes downstairs to keep the night bopping along.
S. J.
Great club all exclusive Polly's follies so much fun can't wait to come and see the show again 😁
S. M.
Very vibrant and friendly night spot
n. K.
Great music, helpful staff and all round fun!!
D.
Iconic Sydney lgbt friendly club with drag shows, and dance floors with several floors with varied music. Great for a sweaty boogie!
c. s.
Everything you could ask for in a night club!
A. S.
Open every day but gets more crowded on Fridays and Saturdays night. Check the daily events on FB for drags performances and dancers.
L. S.
Different nights, different crowd and experiences. It really can be a hit and miss.
Still worth a visit if you haven't been there :)
J. A.
Very cute bar staff and the happy hour drink prices are what you want. You even get a spin of the wheel to win a prize.
T. L.
Excellent gay pub but very welcoming to all. Dance floor upstairs and can be hired out for private functions.
T. v. G.
popularity for this multi-story, multi-bar, multi-faceted multi-plex of joy, the stonewall never disappoints. a hodge-podge of characters from young twinks to mid-thirties/forties scene queens (uh...me?), the bucket drinks come in handy. so does the jukebox of gay hits and a clear view of the stage where the young'ins clamour for space to do their latest rendition of gaga's music video.
G. Q.
For foreign visitors. This place is definitely and accurately more like a pub. Good place to hangout and talk. Not much dancing.
H. S.
Just a classic, never disappoints. Service is always so friendly. 🌈🌈❤️
v. o.
They play awesome songs there. In The first level they play pop music and in the oters they play eletronic songs. The drinks are expensive, that`s why you have to drink at home.
K. M.
Nice place to have some drinks. Diva songs gets played mostly at the main floor.
Can get pretty crowded
s. g.

(Translated) It was the last pub in the area that still served alcohol after 1:30 a.m. It's a gay bar, but there were also a variety of straight people there. However, some of the men were very pushy, which led us to only drink 1 beer there.
