Visited the clock last saturday with a big group of 18 people. I called the manager to discuss the 2 hour time limit and she reassured me that they won't chase you away and there should be plenty of room the group can move to if the 2 hours are up and they need the table.
We had a great time and we were situated in the courtyard which was really nice. Given there was no other booking after us, we were allowed to stay in the outdoor seating the entire time. There was a short period of rain where we had to move the group to an indoor table which was reserved by another group for a later time but again the employees were very accommodating and there was no drama or fuss.
Excellent customer service and overall we had a great time. I didn't order any food myself but some of my friends did and I understood they were happy with that as well.
I'll definitely return.

So the clock, since it's rennos in the paste 90s or early 00s, had a bit of a thing where the staff tried to be even hipper than the fashionable types that make up it's clientele... airs and graces that are hardly becoming in a pub.
Going back for the first time since the great slumber, and at least for now, its really good. The clientele all still very happy to be very good looking and trendy, but the staff now eager to serve and not take centre stage. The food is interesting - pub snacks x french classics makes for some delicious accompaniments to a really good selection of booze.
Impressed!

I like the view from the balcony upstairs. Mostly male patrons a mix of Gay & Straight I would say. Mains from $22, Cocktails from $19. Also down stairs drinking den which is quite good too. Weekend DJs, Rowdy Randy on Friday nights. Hawkes Craft is the main beer promoted here.
E. C.
A Surry hills classic with the perfect patio for watching your mate yell at you from below when the seccy kicked them out 5min earlier. -1 for the food, sorry but putting “Le” in front of burger doesn’t make fancy or a good tasting burger.
Z. M.
A great late night hang out for a casual catch up with friends. Central to Surry hills and good variety of space, it's often super popular so get in quick if you want a seat. Clean and friendly.
S. S.
The clock is one of my favourite bars to hangout with my mates after work or on the weekends. They have great range of drinks, great pub food and love sitting in the balcony area. The bar is lgbt friendly and welcomes all.
s. g.
The menu was quite diverse, but pricey. There was a few things missing off the menu or sold out when we went in for the evening at 6pm.
Entertainment was excellent, and atmosphere was good
S. Y.
Modern pub with mod Oz cuisine. Good range of Aussie beers on tap, and the usual spirits. Nice courtyard and plenty of seating. Food was ok and service was what you would expect from a pub.
C. S.
Fantastic pub, with loads of different areas. Enjoy the pub downstairs or the balcony upstairs, the courtyard is great but my favourite is the whiskey bar.
All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable with great whiskey knowledge and can mix a good cocktail. Great beers on draft too and they serve pints! Arguably my favourite bar in Surry Hills
M. B.
Nice pub with a great upstairs verandah. Cheap pizzas and ok bar menu. Nice and relaxed
K. P.
Great atmosphere. A bit of a wait for drinks as only one bar lady was on at the upstairs bar. Busy bar. Great view from the balcony.
J. S.
Great place for drink and spending the afternoon with friends.. Can get really busy so sometimes hard to find a table
C. K.
Fun, vibrant great location. Drinks are on point. Lovely atmosphere.
J. C.
What can i say? This is one of the epic place you can visit "casually". Amazing interior, Plenty of space for non smokers to sit even outside, food is quite inventive and at the same time, amazing. Cocktails at the clock is quite innovative and it is delicious by far! Staffs are attentive, their attitude are nice and smiley. CANT PICK A WRONG THING! Do visit this place if you have time. Highly recommended
N. F.
Place is good, food & drinks are good, but it would be better if staff took empty plates / glasses away when bringing things to the table. More efficient than going back empty handed, and saves the table being full of empty plates / glasses
T. D.
Great food and service my only concern was that it seemed the balcony upstairs was all smoking😠😠😠
L. C.
Awesome venue with a number of different spaces to enjoy a bevvie. Great friendly and helpful staff, they gave great cocktail suggestions and the food is delicious. I had the Sunday roast, delicious Pork with amazing crackling, brussel sproats. mash, fennel and carrot. Would have liked a baked spud, but you can't have everything.
There's also a cool Whiskey bar.
H. R.
A pub with a French like menu
You can eat snails
Busy. Good vibe.
Many different areas to try sit
T. M.
The Clock is always good. A little noisy in the public bar is the only slight downer. Raf and the crew are super hospitable!
T. R. T.
Lots a atmosphere, renovations have been an improvement. The balcony is great as always.
C. K.
Very popular with the locals, all the terrace seats are taken up by 630pm on a day with perfect weather! The queue for drinks is really long as there's no table service, so a minus point there. They have a wide range of wines
S. S.
The place is stylish and cool. Pretty big, from 2 people to 20 people, different levels and rooms to find your best spot.
K. J.
Love the upstairs balcony. Lots of different areas and cool ambiance.
S. W.
Really nice pub in a village feel setting. Worth a visit...
J.
Got the grain-fed sirloin,
Got what i was after, a fine juicy carnivore delight piece of steak
Lovely souse that i wish i could lick the plate to finish
A bit overpriced, but well deserved.
Thanks for your reply,
Today was my second visit, and YUM
thanks for bringing my steak to my table :) such a nice gesture
a lovely satisfying steak, in an endless sauce that i wish i could lick off my plate
(photo for second visit 22-Mar-2018)
S. M.
Nice bar with good atmosphere to hang out and meet.
However I believe this is a place to go for drinks only, been a bit pricey.
We went on Sunday two weeks ago for lunch. We sat on one of the little windows that face the park which was very nice.
We ordered the Rump steak with chips and mushroom sauce (the mushroom sauce had a very unpleasant flavor so I couldn’t eat it) not worth it for $29 dollars sorry I had better steaks for cheaper, probably it’s just the spot ? we also ordered the tomato salad with extra chicken which was nice and fresh.
N. C.
Good food and deals!: happy hour, two for one on Tuesdays, etc. Different, original and cool spaces. I love the courtyard :)
G. T.
Great place for afternoon drinks. (Best margaritas i have had) Awesome chilled music and croud very friendly. Moderate croud building up after 6.30pm to be very busy. Prompt service at all times at the bar. Thumbs up. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
B. P.
Don’t think there’s a better spot for people watching than the balcony at The Clock Hotel. Great service, super selection of beer and the food looks good.
T. O. M.
Easily one of the best pubs in Surry Hills. Heaps of options for a casual drink or a big get together. Staff are always friendly and service is good considering how busy it can get in peak periods.
W. D.
Pretty pub with a whisky room, awesome! Wait staff are pretty attentive and helpful also.
J. C.
New Menu is great! Always lovely staff, great local community minded business
P. M.
In a good location in Surry Hills, comprising of a number of seperate inside and outside spaces. Some rooms feel stark and sparse. Gin selection standardised with others in the chain. Food is standard basic pub. Staff are friendly and down-to-earth.
K. S.
Great place to meet friends for a drink or a feed! Recommend booking on a Friday or Saturday night.
S. S.
I can't believe there is no mid strength beer or low alcohol beer on tap.
I'm not prepared to drink out of a bottle.
C. M.
I just want to say thank you to the staff today. There were patrons abusing pedestrians from the balcony. They did not hesitate to respond to the complaints of fellow patrons. Seemed like a rare occurrence but its this attentiveness and care of decent patrons that will bring back loyal customers to this beautiful venue. Thank you 🏳️🌈
M. L.
Central to Surry Hills. Over looks a park. Great to have a drink and chat with friends
S.
Expensive food but a great spot on the balcony upstairs for a beer.
S.
A great place to catch up with friends and watch a game. This bar is great due to friendly staff, a good selection of beers and the fact they actually show a range of sports, not just NRL.
K. E.
Did the Four Pillars gin tasting which is always such a great vibe -that DJ was so on point! Just wish we could dance!
The clock is always a great venue, lots of little nooks and crannies to tuck away into for a drink and a chat. One of the best pubs in Sydney 😁
F. N.
Great spot for cocktails and a chit chat with your mates. A bit more on the pricey side but it's well worth it. The cocktails never fail to impress and the bartenders always know what they're doing.
A. G.
Hi, when I was 5 I had my first ice cream watching experience. Today marked the day where I watched 4 seperate pairs of persons eat ice cream at the same time. These non descript humans were licking frozen Cow milk at the same time. 2 limes. Five stars and three popcorn buckets
M. M.
I really enjoy this place. Wide variety of craft beers. Nice pizza, nice fries. Like the atmosphere.
C. Y.
Nice balconies on the too floor, food/snack options limited
M. V.
Came here for a birthday party upstairs in one of their lounge rooms. Besides the central location, the pub is awesome. Great canapes food! Drinks were not overly expensive. I used to come here a lot for an afternoon drink in summer, so looking forward to the warmer months to sit out on the balcony!
K. O.
Great Australian pub, plenty of bars, great balcony, with views.
L. C.
Nice pub with an under cover smoking area upstairs.
D. P.
Dropped in for Cocktails in the Courtyard, only to find it was closed due to restrictions on opening this area - headed upstairs to the Balcony where Taylor and the Team looked after us. Great customer service.
Excellent choice of beer and drinks.. well priced for Surry Hills ...great staff ...we will definitely return.
P. P.
Very friendly & helpful staff. Quick service. The layout of the space nice & variable. If you are into Pacific, India, & American style ales, this is a good place. I just wish they had a dark or red beer to choose from. The menu isn't huge but they do everything I've had really well. I'll be back.
A. H.
Great staff. We had their burger with chips and pork belly with peach salad. Both fantastic. Pub could do with a freshen-up.
A. H.
Multiple areas in which to drink and eat inside this establishment, each one has an amazing atmosphere. I highly suggest grabbing a seat in the courtyard or out on the terrace deck.
D. C.
Great atmosphere, drinking and dinning options. Not the cheapest pub around, but makes up for that with quality meals options and variety of beers on tap. For whiskey lovers make sure to check out the whiskey bar. If your planning on have a group together Here on the weekends definitely book an area otherwise you'll be disappointed with spacing options as it gets very busy even before 6pm.
T. S.
A fun venue for corporate parties and after work drinks
C. S.
One of my favourite pubs in Sydney. Fantastic wrap-around balcony upstairs and yummy food; especially the pizzas. The staff are all cool.
Great layout with a variety of areas. The whisky room is my choice.
A great all round pub - it ticks a lot of boxes.
J. W. K.
Great place to be. Great cocktails and tasty food.
D. U.
Always a fun place to meet friends for a quiet drink in a lovely atmosphere. Can get busy so if you're wanting to dine or meeting a group, make sure you book!
K. C.
Great Mother's Day special and a wonderful experience. First rate hospitality and a great menu. Staff went above and beyond. Highly recommended.
S. C.
If you're in Surry Hills. The Clock is definite stop. Great vibe. Setup with different areas, inside, out and balcony, some good views to see the street come alive. Food can take a little time but it's cuz it's busy. Give it a go
H. L.
Great spot for an arvo drink especially on the balcony overlooking Crown Street. Convenient ordering system allows you to order and pay for food + drinks from your table
D. K.
Solid place. Unfortunately didn't try the food, but from what I saw, it looked quality.
Overall the place has a chill atmosphere, and each section has it's own personality. My personal favorite was the whiskey room.
Staff was friendly and seemed to know what they're talking about.
In regards to beer, they could use some updating, but I found a few to survive. They have Four Pines and Feral.
Overall, my seal of approval
R. M.
Great cocktail promotions on Sundays - fantastic afternoon session location especially from the upstairs balcony.
Great somewhat upscale wine list and top shelf liquors - food maybe on the pricier side but usually decent. Can be ram packed on a sunny day's evening but people watching is second to none.
Not the best pub in Surry Hills but up there.
S. P.
Came here for a friend's birthday party on a Sunday and we were able to sit at a large table near the bar with plenty of space. We ordered food, it came out quickly and tasted good. The portion sizes were a decent size too. Some places blare out music so you can't hear anyone speak, but there was a nice level of background music that added to the ambience. There are pool tables downstairs, an outdoor seating area and a large range of alcohol to drink form.
D. P.
The Clock is allright, but not my first choice when I am in the area as there are places that do cocktails better and for cheaper. However, they have a good range of beers, if that's what you're after, then it will do!
S. C.
Nice relaxing lunch. Yummy pizza and salads. Inviting sunny verandah.
D. B.
Great beer selection and all different areas to sit in, be it sunny balcony or private booth. Love it
K. G.
Went here (10 Mar 2018 at 2000 hrs ) on the recommendation of an office colleague. It is terrific !!!
Nice vibe, average age seemed to be late 20s to mid 30s.
Great “zones” for seating, the balcony, the courtyard, and indoor.
Food was decent ( steak with fish and chips ).
And had beer on tap, so there.
The loos were clean and well maintained, which is important for me in an establishment. Pricing is average. 10$ a schooner and Food around $22 an average main course.
Music was forgettable and more of a background noise than music.
Overall nice ambience and attracts a fair cross-sectional swathe of Surry Hills. I will be going back a few times more for sure!
A. K.
I’ve been going to The Clock since it was a bikie Bar in the roughest part of town. In fact, I turned 18 in The Clock in 1993. It’s a lovely pub these days and still my favourite in Surry Hills. Plenty of different spaces and vibes. A good ratio of guys and gals. Good food food and drinks. A well lit but still romantic park next door. Enjoy :)
a. l.
Food is tasty, location is pretty nice. 2 for 1 Tuesday is always a winner. It's got a reasonable outdoor area as well as a small smoking area. It's dog friendly. There are daily food specials, normally $15 pizza and one or two other things
A. D.
We went there during weekday when it wasn't busy at all but a service with a smile was missing. Hence one star for room to improve, else clean place, wide selection of drinks and their contribution to fire affected people touched my heart as we need business to play their part in rebuild Australia
F. W.
Yummy cocktails and great spaces outside and inside.
N. A.
Two meals for the price of one deal is excellent. Otherwise wouldnt eat here. Atmosphere is cool! I ordered lamb and salmon. Portion was quite small and I would describe the quality and taste as mediocore. If I paid for the two meals it would not be worth it. Friendly staff!
T. B.
Had a great time. An awesome place to meet mates.
Superb cocktail list and bar staff are incredible.
Only downfall was how security treat drunk patrons, rather than making sure they are escorted out safely and put into a cab to get home, we all watched in horror as the security guard threw the man into the door and then watch the guy get knocked out by three other security guards.
M. F.
Great pub with fantastic food and huge selection of cocktails, wines, spirits and beers. Few different bar areas including a whiskey bar but I love sitting on the balcony and people watching. Staff are always friendly and helpful even when busy. Well worth a visit.
G. B.
Limited beer range, not as extensive as I’d like but hey, it is what it is. Very popular place and the area we had was possibly a little too small and shows their care for clients in this regard. Security were also a little lax with a clearly drunk patron being allowed to finish his “lemonade” before leaving when I know he was drinking vodka (overheard at bar).
G. B.
We had an occasion upstairs, food was mediocre and the staff were absent. A tad more focus on customers and drinks thats what keeps people coming back.
S. M.
Good selection of beers on tap, food menu is quite limited still and what we did order was ok, not amazing. The thing that did worry us though, was there was a huge dog in the front bar and another dog walked by, the dog sat down went berserk and bit the dog walking by! The owner did nothing, as did the bar staff. When we walked by later, the guy wasn't even holding onto the leash of the attacking dog. I think the staff at the clock should have done something in this instance as that dog was clearly aggressive and owner didn't care. He didn't apologise or even get up when the other dog was in a fight.
N. N.
Great pub in the heart of Surry Hills. Good spot for a night out or for some afternoon drinks on the balcony or the courtyard. Food is decent and there is a wide selection of food. Generally a good spot for a Sydney Swans game as well
J. C.
We used to drink here most of the time we had after work drinks for a celebration and most people liked it. The have a long balcony upstairs but it can get a bit crowded as the night goes on. It's also one of the few remaining pubs with pool tables if that's your thing and the place isn't dominated by pokies either.
The service is average but the atmosphere is above average.
Strangely though they do shuffle everyone inside the pub fairly early in the night on the weekends which can crowd the pub even more, I can only assume they have some sort of noise restrictions to deal with.
Definitely worth a visit if you've never been before
G. M.
I went to the Clock last weekend for my birthday. I had initially booked a table for me and some friends, however they had no record of the booking. The staff went out of their way to get us a table. Once we were seated we noticed that it was not in the kid friendly section. We told the bar manager and again he went out of his way to make sure we were settled in an area that was good for kids.
The night was great, good beers, great food and a lovely kid friendly area in courtyard.
100% will go back for another event, if not sooner!
Thanks guys!
L. F.
Great atmosphere! Fantastic venue for a cheeky beer with a mate, a night out with lads or even a date with that special someone. Good balcony for people watching, decent selection of tap beers, even mulled cider if you're into that sort of thing. If your tummy is rumbling I suggest the brisket burger? What's a brisket ? I don't know but its delicious! The clock, get there!
V.
It’s a massive spot but don’t let it scare you. Little niches and courtyards are perfect for cozy gatherings or just regular afterwork drinks. Tried their salmon pizza; delicious! They could consolidate their drinks menu and have the same selection available at all bars. Otherwise, it’s cool!
A. D.
The 💓, The Hub, The Best of 👑 St. This long standing pub has passed the test of time and constant change as Surry Hills has transformed into its current hip and trendy part of Sydney. On multiple levels with multiple bars there is something for everyone. Food is good, great for watching sports. Cocktail bar with balcony. Very busy with a mix of clientele. Solid boozer.
W. N.
Nice layout and interior. Staff are friendly and the bouncer was nice/patience when asking us to move to other areas (closing sections).
Good music and drinks are decent.
N. N.
The staff here were super nice though the place was fully packed.
They have so many different rooms and spaces that you can easily find a place you like based on your taste.
The food and drink selections were also good. So I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re in surry hills
C. J.
Loved it. Great food and the gin bar must be tried by all that enjoy a good gin.
A. G.
This pub is very easy going with pool tables and a nice balcony overlooking Crown Street. Great place to venture to in the warmer months. The downstairs bar does get a bit crowded, but there is are multiple bars located out the back and upstairs to hasten the service.
Best thing is that there isn't much of a dress code, so T-shirts and jeans with sneakers are perfectly fine to get in
J. v. B.
Decent gastro pub with plenty of seating including booths. Downstairs area is great for watching sports and upstairs more of a social feel. Staff are polite and there's a range of counter meals. Enjoyed the salmon pizza and roast cauliflower salad. Expect to pay $20-30 for food pp.
G. G.
Fortunate enough to have this spot within a stone's throw from my place. Favourite watering hole in Surry Hills, for sure. Different parts of the Bar for different occasions / vibes (new top pick is the Whiskey Room at the back). Adjacent bottle shop is also a great place to pick up when on the go. And the fellas at the counter are always more than happy to walk you through the options. A+++
L. B.
Heavily reduced menu with far more basic options compared to previous menu. Same applies to wine list. Service was good enough considering these testing times.
C. R. T.
Very nice location work good food and great drinks
A. T.
This is really cool little place, the outside garden is so lovely.
Drinks are reasonably priced for Sydney, a bit expensive for a student but just make a night of it! Go during happy hour!
The staff were super friendly and the vibe is awesome. Nice location with restaurants all around and not too far from the central station.
C. P.
Good selection of ales and beers, excellent food and plenty of space, terrace is ace for afternoon chilling but can get filled quickly on a sunny afternoon. Courtyard is quiet but only gets limited sun. Friendly staff and loads of different seating. Snooker table area and booths upstairs can easily hold 30 people so great for groups.
M. N.
Excellent pub food and atmosphere.
J. A.
Great friendly place. A heritage listed pub, with fun patrons. Can't go wrong
A. E.
the staff and security are so wonderful here. They were super accommodating to me and my friends and I can’t thank them enough for their hard work. I’ll be back 🦋🦋💘
M. D.
Nice hangout, theres a few levels for different vibes like courtyard (little- no music), full bar (loud music), small balcony with bar with low light setting. Went there tonight for a birthday would definitely go back :-)
N. R.
I like the mysterious maze and different indoor and outdoor spaces. Great vibes, an earthy, quirky place to grab a few drinks at on a weekend night.
S. U. (. G. U.
Really enjoyed visiting here, esconsed ourselves in the Whisky Bar on the mezzanine floor. This pub has several different areas on multiple floors but all connect well together, with slightly different vibe in each. The Whisky Bar easily lives up to its name, great range of the serious malts, the 'smoky and peaty' page of the menu alone had at least 20 entries. Bar staff very knowledgeable about the Islay range, had a good chat while trying to choose. Will definitely be back!
M. B.
The Clock Hotel has a great lunch special if you happen to be in the area around lunchtime, and on Friday nights and weekends it is a nice pub downstairs and a brilliant little cocktail bar upstairs. It's got a casual vibe to it, and despite being quite a big place I find that the way it's set up makes it feel like it's still quite intimate. Great for events and meeting up with groups of people for a night out on the town.
M. W.
Cool, quirky place. Great beers on tap and the food is good quality. Lot's of clocks on the wall for some reason... Went on ANZAC Day and there was two up in the courtyard out the back, fantastic atmosphere
C. c.
A great atmosphere with friendly bartenders. although not close to any public transport of a friday night it is an up and coming place to be! Perfect for after work drinks. Late night pizzas are very good and the layout of the venue is very unique and interesting.
H. M.
Nice atmosphere, good food and selection of beers. They have an excellent tartare sauce. The food service is a bit slow, keep that in mind if you're pressed for time and/or are in a large group.
F. F.
Really cool theme with all these clocks on the wall, amazing rooftop and plenty of space — the big rooms and generous spacing makes it feel really safe even during COVID 🥳🥳🥳
D. M.
Awesome outdoor drinking area with a unique and. Creative clock wall in the front bar area. The food is delicious and drinks made well. The low ambient lighting gives this pub and exceptional dinning and drinking vibe.
c. g.
This place obviously cares about both their clientele and reputation. I frequent the clock for lunch and for good reason...great atmosphere, beverages and food. Recently a small glitch occurred resulting in later than expected delivery of lunch. In short the response was outstanding. I received a free drink, money back on my meal and the personal attention of the manager who emphatically apologised. In the end they turned a potential negative review into a positive one and more than preserved my opinion. Thanks.
R. R.
Modern take on an old pub. Interesting clock theme on the ground floor. Has a decent vibe and good outdoor areas on the balcony overlooking the street on the top floor. Prices abit high and only certain beers are on tap. Ordered the wedges which were just standard, but they came with a really odd smokey sauce that didn't do them any justice. Decent spot for a laid back date.
K. B.
Large busy pub, with plenty on offer and happening.
There’s a good choice of beer and a fairly standard bar menu. At the back is a negroni bar and an area to play pool.
What makes the Clock stand out from those in the immediate vicinity is its size! It’s huge and these plenty of different areas to choose from....
Want an alcove for a cozy drink with friends? Check. Want to watch the world go by from a balcony? Check? Want to sip cocktails in an intimate back room? Check. There’s something for everyone at the Clock.
I. G.
I've been a few times here for lunch and drinks and I've never been disappointed. Good food a reasonable priced. Pizza is good for a pub, I also had the gnocchi which was really good and they have 2x1 at lunch on Wednesdays. Shame they close at 12am
J. A.
I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the clock hotel recently. I met a group of friends for some drinks and a catch up.
The clock hotel is huge. There are lots of different areas to sit and relax.
The staff that I came into contact with were fun and friendly. I would definitely like to go back again!
S. R.
3 stars for the friendly and hard working staff. Food was terrible though. Order from an app and very limited choices esp vegetarian options. Had to order fries with sauce. Cost $11.00!!!!!
T. W.
A favourite pub of mine and great place for after work drinks or weekend catch ups with friends. Happy hours are on Monday to Saturday evenings, including cocktails from the Balcony Bar. The food menu ranges from snacks such olives, hand-cut chips, mini sliders to the more substantial dishes, pizzas, burgers, fish & chips and healthier options such as spiced lamb salad. When the weather is nice you'll find the locals watching the world go by from the balcony or chilling in the courtyard.
J. R.
Always fun.. for a meal or drink..
R. G.
Amazing atmosphere and great food. The food here is some of the best pub grub in Sydney, and the Whiskey selection is amazing. I really liked the different nooks and crannies.
L. N.
Really great atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights. Very good outdoor smoking area which doesn't make you feel like you're missing the action. Cheap drinks - we got 5 drinks for $47! Friendly service and great food and right in the centre of Surry Hills so easy to get to and from.
L. L.
Good venue that seems always to be relatively full... The ambiance is varied with so many seating options, the courtyard, upstairs balcony, downstairs bar with tvs. They normally have a couple of interesting brews on tap. Overall just another solid Sydney pub!
m. d.
Such a cool place to go for a beer, with an option of happy hour, different floors, balcony, food, and coctails. Great to have a meeting with friends on a regular day to enjoy in a good company. Cool atmosphere, and service. Totally suggested
T. A.
The scene and overall feel of the place is nice.
M. M.
Always busy especially on a Friday evening or weekends, The Clock offers a range of settings from the exuberance of the front bar to the relaxed atmosphere of the downstairs courtyard garden. Great service and a good range of beers on tap, this well known landmark is a great meeting point ahead of heading out to one of Surry Hill's many locals diners.
V. K.
Great venue with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. They make a very tasty espresso martini here. One of my favourite places to go at the weekend.
M. T.
Great atmosphere, drinks are expensive
A. S.
Pretty good. Love the new lay out of this joint. There a few different bars. You should try them all. It was a bit quiet when we went but it was a week night. Specially good for Sunday drinks.
E. M.
Very helpful and hospitable staff! I organised a last minute birthday drinks and they were so great in helping me get that organised! Drinks and food were great, the buttermilk fried chicken is awesome! Just all round a great experience! We’ll all be back
S. M.
For me, the Clock is always too loud and crowded, UNLESS you go out back to their Whiskey Room, where the music is at a much more pleasant volume, the lighting in ambient and the bar is never packed (any of the times I have been there). It's lovely.
S. P.
An iconic and historical pub at ever popular Crown Street,Surry Hills, 2 levels of amazing place where you can quench your thirst. Extremely popular and very busy in the evening and weekends all day. The clock in front and top of the building is where it got it's name from. At least 3 or 4 bars all in all inside the place.
If you happen to be in the area do give this place a visit. Also good for pre dinner drink or if you are still game for a night cap it's open till quite late.
J. A.
If you can get a seat on the upstairs outside balcony grab it!! Great place for people watching. Lovely staff and lots of seats and places to explore in the pub
L. C. (. C.
Really good place to have a easy but tasty dinner, especially on Tuesday when you get one meal offered when you buy one. I got the pasta, and it was a nice comfy food. The place is spacious with multiple rooms.
K. C.
Multi level renovated Pub with food and cocktail bar/s. Its great to sit on the upstairs balcony overlooking the street or park. Tues has 2 for 1 food deal - great steak and salmon and salads.
J. S.
Well-known hotel, big place with upstairs area and balcony. Good place for a game of pool. Very nice to sit on the balcony when it's warm and sunny. On weekends it can be very crowded, especially downstairs. They have nice cosy couch/ lounge areas and the usual hotel interior otherwise.
I. T.
They’ve done a great job with renovating the place, noise can be a little overwhelming, however, nothing beyond what you’d expect from a packed out bar (always completely full). Staff are friendly, food is good, overall great vibes.
S. G.
Great value on a Sunday night with $5 drinks. The staff are fast and friendly - regularly doing glass runs so our tables weren't cramped. The food was just standard pub grub- I would recommend the potatoes.
P. K.
One of the must - see places on Crown Street. Has a good vibe, with places to sit, dance and get some fresh air. Some times a person can feel 'accessed' by the staff to much.
T. W.
awesome place to go out to on a weekly night! Very easy to get drinks along with food. The environment is very relaxed with a good group of people usually hanging out! I would tell anyone of my friends to go here in a hear beat!
C. C.
Just a great pub. The waiters were very helpful and the crowd here is chilled. The food we had was super and a better quality than we expected from "just a pub".
I would always return when in town
J. f.
Nice trendy bar in the central part of Surry Hills. Although some parts seem somewhat old and a little degraded, this bar does well with facilities like a lift, courtyard area and balcony overlooking Crowne Street. The alcohol isn't too expensive either
G. G.
Good palace and location. The upper floor is amazing with the view on the Main Street
C. N.
This was my second visit to The Clock, my first being fantastic. Unfortunately this time was very disappointing. We waited an hour for our food, for it to then be wrong. The team fixed the order, but then it came out burnt. Huge let down as the vibe of the place is great, it's clean and the staff are friendly.
c.
Perfect place for a few casual drinks or to start you night off before you head down oxford street. A typical Ozzy Sunday session could be spent here all day. The drinks are discounted on Sunday and has a good atmosphere to relax and sip away. TV screens available for sport and a nice court yard out the back.
A. E. C. M.
Nice pub, quite crowded on Fridays night, which can be good or bad depending on your taste. The balcony is a very nice place to have a beer while watching Surry Hills vibe develop all around
S. W.
Very good bar with quick service on all levels, loads of space and a great 180 degree balcony to catch the sun at the end of a long day. Drinks choices were excellent, atmosphere very good and location is bang on.
C. C.
This bar offers the chance to either dance, sit by the balcony or in the terrace. Good drinks and food. Fun ambiance. Fast service. Recommended.
T. M.
Was at an event here during the week. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food for the event was finger food and was top notch. Price was reasonable. Drink prices reasonable.
R. C.
Been here a couple of times this month, warm, friendly and great to see them keeping it safe. Had the best margaritas ever.
K. H.
Staff are really lovely
/accommodating and a great lively place for a drink. But unfortunatly food was nothing to write home about. Also game of pool is $4 which is double usual price 🤔
A. H.
very nice restaurant. I sent there with some friends and it was a great surprise with very good food and shared cocktails for a cheap price, especially for Sydney.
And the view at the balcony is really nice.
E. B.
Standard pub food, with pizza though so that's a bonus. Reasonably priced drinks and huge TV screens showing every sport you could want. If that's not your thing there are a few levels suited to whatever you are feeling... More chillaxed, more boozy etc
M. W.
Great outside eating area. Great views of crown street and good quality good. 20 dollars for a parmi with specials on every week night. Great place for quality pub food. Some good looking bar girls as well. Well worth a look in
J. S.
Nice atmosphere.... drinks like any other pub and food a but over priced (small portions and just average quality). Still a very nice place to visit with friends. Nice balcony just for smokers.
P. N.
I really really like The Clock - and while my nostalgic memories from my early twenties have been renovated into a beer garden, that's actually a good thing. The food is good, particularly the steaks. They also stock Hawkes Lager, which is simultaneously patriotic and appalling.
J. L.
Good food and drinks, can get crowded during busy periods but that speaks only to how popular it is. Staff are wonderful and the space is nice to be in. Great atmosphere to kick back at the end of the day
G. D. (. F.
Big place, live music, AIR-CONDITIONED, big choices of tapbeer, best parmesan schnitzel, sweet chips and calamari, sunday margaritas come early!
M. L.
A Surry Hills institution. The upstairs bar is a great people watching spot. Good selection of beer wine and spirits. Bottle shop.
C. Z.
Nice laid back pub with lots of room to sit and relax
T. B. K.
Upstairs balcony is one of my fav spots in whole Sydney! Great food and drinks. As a central location gets very crowded at weekends. A must see!
F. L.
Fancy pub. Nice decoration and ambience.
A. S.
Great place to go for a drink! Nice atmosphere
D. R.
One side is apposite for a peckish person—consider 2 sides if you're hungry, and definitely go a half-chicken and 2 sides if you've recently been watching Survivor and are more than peckish. Excellent pub food with averagely-priced tap-beers. Beware of the hot sauces–they mean hot when they label them as "Hot".
M. W.
Nice pub/ restaurant. One downside was the pool table which cost $4 a game and only 1 cue out of 5 had a tip... At $4 a game you should provide better equipment
C. W.
The Clock is a great people-watching spot if you can get a place at the balcony. I have been a couple of times when the atmosphere was great, and once when the place was completely dead, so perhaps it's a matter of timing. Certainly worth a visit if you more in the area.
J. R.
Love The Clock. Good pub grub. All the usual things. Clean, tidy and great tunes on the second floor.
A. B.
I always like it here. And they have a dog-friendly, covered area. Good food. Decent wine selection.
A. P.
Good pub for a Friday arvo beer. Acceptable beer selection and plenty of room. Staff are cut and paste backpackers lacking in personality but it gets the job done.
L. H.
Always love a sit out in the balcony for a glass of two. Good crowed and an overall good pub with decent, affordable food.
Best pub on Crown.
R. T.
My favourite place for happy hour. $5 for beer or house wine. Sit at the front balcony for people watching or otherwise go to the back for a beautiful court yard.
A. G.
Great atmosphere and décor. Food is awesome and the balcony is the best view in Surry Hills for a schooner
T. L.
Fun and chilled out pub. Cheers to the bar tender for serving me first, even though some girl tried to push in three times. Upstairs feels more corporatey, downstairs is where it's at.
E. H.
In Surry Hills and looking for a non empty pub? You've just found it. Even on a quiet night there is always a decent amount of people. Nice atmosphere, decor and most of all cheap drinks.
A. B.
Cute and relaxed spot for a drink, nothing fancy! Staff very nice
A. Z.
Had my fiancé’s birthday celebration at the courtyard, an exclusive semi outdoor area with exceptional bar service, all of our guests are very impressed!
V. F.
Nice bar with some seats upstairs on the balcony. Great for a Sunday afternoon drink if it is not full already (which seems to be hard). Nice small courtyard as well downstairs.
But nothing amazing...
N. C.
Great atmosphere and great food. Two for one Tuesday is good value but drinks and pool are very expensive. $9.50 for a Peroni on tap and $4.50 for mineral water. $4.00 for a game of pool.
K. K.
The clock hotel has historically (for me) been a bar to grab a drink on a sunday or saturday night. Went there last night with a group of work mates (who all have special dietary restrictions) and I was pleasantly surprised that we all managed find food that suited us but was delicious. Their Pork Meatballs are delicious and the kale salad ( can't believe I am writing this) was absolutely divine. Everything from the cherries to the walnuts married together perfectly. The sauce one the meatballs are epic and I would say the only thing miss was some cheese on top but that's a personal love for cheese. The stringy french fries were not that good and a bit soggy. In the past I've had their croquettes and pork sliders were were delicious. This place is great for a work meeting or for drinks and happy hour.
A. T. B.
Great atmosphere and a beautiful beer garden together with good location makes this place one of the best around Surry Hills. There's a good selection of craft beers as well.
D. B.
Quite enjoy this place, multiple bars with different things to offer. Food is pretty decent and it has a relaxed vibe with high end selection of beers and spirits.
B. P.
Always a great night out
Never had a bad night here
Highly recommended.
E. T.
It's an institution in terms of surry hills night life. That's faint praise considering Sydney night life as a whole, but it's totally fine for a drink and some fries or pub food. I wouldn't take an overseas visitor here, but I would take someone here if I wanted it to seem like I didn't care too much.
C. P.
Love this place! Quirky layout with multiple areas to suit any occasion. The staff are friendly and food decent quality. Plus they serve pints!
H. S.
Great place to catch up with friends after work for a drink. Not bad food either, atmosphere is funky and goes well with the location.
Y. C.
Surely my favourite pub ever!
Great food and drink, perfect layout and location.
You juat can't miss it
M. C.
Good pub with a good range of beers, bit annoying they closed they didn't let us know the kitchen was closing in 10 mins when we arrived for lunch, but the bar menu is okay and got us there!
D. P.
The restrooms were modern and fairly clean and vomit free. Toilet paper was highly dubious, more like 120 grit sandpaper. Not happy.
l. m.
Great atmosphere, staff, food and beverages. Lighting wasn't fantastic but I'm not sure if that was a Halloween theme or not
D. A.
Awesome food and crowd in the area! Nice place to share some drinks with friends. Would highly recommend their menu on Tuesdays
S. T.
Wasn't a big fan of the tomato sauce on the pizza, lacked salt and it felt like it came straight out of a can
F. L.
Interesting clock decors with decent selection of beer. Food is average but it's great for catchups. It wasn't too crowded on a Saturday afternoon.
T. K.
It's Surry Hills, you know the deal! A place of hip(ster) worship... craft beer, artisan cocktails and creatives. Not to knock it, it is what it is and for that it ticks all the boxes. Good food, DJ and good balcony upstairs, seperate bar areas.
F. C.
The Clock has a fantastic Bar Wench who helped me go home. I hope I didn't offend her or upset her - first class observation of her RSA. Helps when others help. No cynicism - excellent, diligent and compliant service.
C. J.
A nice dark beer to accompany a good steak for lunch. Very tasty.
K. C.
Multi level renovated Pub with food and cocktail bar/s. Its great to sit on the upstairs balcony overlooking the street or park. Tues has 2 for 1 food deal - great steak and salmon and salads.
R. W.
Nice, but noisy! Enjoyed by lunching city workers. Visited by a very chilled ibis.
E. M.
Very helpful and hospitable staff! I organised a last minute birthday drinks and they were so great in helping me get that organised! Drinks and food were great, the buttermilk fried chicken is awesome! Just all round a great experience! We’ll all be back

Such a cool place to go for a beer, with an option of happy hour, different floors, balcony, food, and coctails. Great to have a meeting with friends on a regular day to enjoy in a good company. Cool atmosphere, and service. Totally suggested
T.
Pleasant venue. I ordered the burger. One of my friends had Sunday roast. The burger was good. The roast looked great
K. D.
Succulent steak, great beers always. Fantastic service
C. G.
I haven't eaten here I've only gotten drinks. It's a good central location in surry so always easy to meet people there. Good drinks on tap!
A. O.
Great whiskey (you will get a detailed explanation of all available brands). Friendly staff and top location in the heart of Surry Hills, makes it really popular place.
L. J.
Really nice bartenders upstairs! Helped me through a hangover with good bar chat and food suggestions. Really nice spot.
V. V. S.
Nice location and cosy atmosphere. Good service and hospitality starting from the security guy at the door to the barmen. Plenty of space to choose from and decent selection of beer.
A. M.
Nice place for a drink, great ambiance, food menu is also very good.
L.
Lovely and professional staff, fair prices on drinks and friendly vibe all around. Special shout out to Chris for his wonderful service!
L. S.
Very nice pub, delicious food and plenty of seating areas - I would avoid going at peak times as you may find it difficult to find a table and you’ll wait forever for food (worth the wait of course)!
L. M.
Went for a lazy Sunday lunch, didn't realise it was only pub lunch options.. Food was good, not too noisy, but a bit drafty as the doors and windows were open requiring the heaters to be on..
D. L.
Good pub, food and beer. Nice verandah's, especially pleasant for lunch, spring or autumn, on the verandah. (Informal food.) Pool tables. Enjoy!
E. B.
Just want to say Anika looked after us amazingly!!!!! Thank you for tonight. We were here for a leaving do and it was awesome 😊
I. M.
A great suburban pub in the heart of Surry Hills.
The upstairs wraparound balcony is perfect for lazy sunny afternoons to people watch and have a drink.
M. M.
Nice Saturday atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great for drinks with friends or a date
g. p.
Tuesday 2 meals for 1. Good ale. Happy hour. Full of interesting people. Going back. Great place too
Y. M.
Really like the beer garden but don't see why it's such a hyped up place. Music isn't bad and there is a good selection of drinks
T. B.
Nice modern pub. Massive area with an awesome selection of beer on tap and the bottle shop offering a lot of them for takeaway.
p. b.
Looks like a normal pub, one of the 10000 in sydney, but the casual but elegant environment, the different rooms and floor, and the large variety off beers from affordable prices make it the perfect pub for everyday aperitif. Obviously living near it helps :)
C. G.
Love this place. Used to live right down the road and was a great place to meet my mates. If you do visit dont forget to try the Gin and Tonic menu. The roof top garden setting is amazing and overall has a great bubbly vibe.
S. C.
Great vibe. Great beer and wine. Food looked pretty good too. Lovely on the terrace.
J. W.
Food is great, had the steak on Tuesday when it was 2 for 1 meals. Staff are great, good environment though it can get very busy at times
A. M.
Food was pricy, rest are ok. Good chill place, could be noisy at times but that's just part of the pub
D. A.
Huge place. Beer selection is typical Sydney crap. Food is decent. The upstairs outdoor balcony makes this place. Also check out the game rooms in back.
C. S.
Great selection of spirits across all bars. Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. Fast food service, with good mid week specials.
A. E.
Great pub for weeknights and day time drinks and food with friends. Can get very busy, I would recommend getting there early to find a spot to sit
S. I.
Always great! Good food, friendly staff, great balcony watching Surry Hills go by. Great spaces to hang out. Always a fave.
S. P.
Great beer and cocktail choice. Perfectly arranged upper level for a relaxed visit
T. K.
A good pub for young groups with a propensity for being loud. A basic swill pub on the ground floor with a lovely (smoking) balcony.
J.
The manager it's the best person he have the best costumer service in the pub his name is andres , really I'm really grateful with him people like that create a good vibe , we love the pub

Great and good food. A little bit expensive but good proportions
M. E. B.

Upstairs is cosy and nice for a brunch.
On Saturday the place is packed, loud and fun!
D. S.
Perfect place for a sunny afternoon lunch while you watch the world go by on Crown Street. Great selection of beers and good food.
J. G.
The Clock is an institution in Surry Hills.
The facade of the building is really typical.
Inside the building, many different area to relax and spend time with friends on a sunday afternoon.
At night, there is loud music and dance. I had really good time at the clock.
Z. P.
Me: "Can I have a jug of Carlton?"
Bartender "don't do jugs'"
Me "Pint please"
Bartender "don't do pints'"
Me (holding down a rant about Sydney pubs not serving full size beers) "ok, I'll have a schooner then"
Bartender hands me a boiling hot plastic cup of carlton and I shed a tear into it as I walk away with my head down and shoulders hunched.
J. M.
I love this pub. There are several levels to choose from, each one slightly different in ambience and the food is delicious if you just want some dinner.
M. L.
Always enjoy meeting friends at The Clock, service consistently good, cool atmosphere, found the meals a bit hit or miss, that's most pubs though.
C. S.
Great to hang out with friends and grab a drink for happy hour. Crowd all looks to be having fun. But alot of unfinished plates of food.....Hmmmm
F. A.
Most seating areas were reserved for parties but the place had a lively vibe; not bad for a pint and a pool game.
M. C.
Nice place if you like pub grub and some loud music.
We went in with some friends a few months back and while the food and service are ok, the place is just a bit too anonymous.
M. A.
Nice atmosphere attracting a good crowd. Like that the place is quite spacious and have a good selection of drinks.
A. D.
Wicked cocktail hour - $5 drinks! Didn't eat here. Decor is fine for a casual place.
W. B.
Pretty cool bar with a "whiskey room" has an outside space if you go further in, strictly no smoking though.
J. W.
Prazane was an absolute legend. He was respectful and so customer oriented. Great atmotsphere. Shiva was awesome too.

Great upstairs balcony for people watching while enjoying a nice cold drink.
The recent renovations out the back also appear to have done the trick, giving this place more atmosphere
T.
Great pub. Several different rooms with different vibes, whiskey bar, pool room, casual bar, indoor beer garden, balcony bar, quiet booths, live music.
M.
One of the best locations in Surry Hills. This is a true locals pub. It's a little over crowded Friday/Saturday nights but great during the week
J. C.
Great venue for a function, food was amazing and so were the drinks. However lines at the bar can get a bit long.
J. H.
The Clock at Sydney: great! 👍
B. S.
My favourite place is the balcony upstairs overlooking Crown Street. The Clock is a great place to meet before heading out on Crown Street for dinner.
J. J.
This pub has the location and pretences to be a great night out but is overly expensive.

D. K.
Staff were awesome venue is excellent great atmosphere
T. L.
Great ambience with multiple levels of seating and balconies. Food is really good and there is a large variety of wine and cocktails.
L. G. L.
Great pub. Although a strange happy hour scenario where only drinks purchased down stairs are cheaper.
A. C.
Doors to the outside areas especially the balconies should be closed at all times and have only 1 -2 exists accesible as the filthy smoke just comes inside!
J. W.
Upper market pub food, great selection of beers on tap and a variety of seating options and ambience
S. M.
2 for one mains is a good deal here on Tuesdays. Large old pub, catering for different types.

The staff here are really nice and a good environment for casual drinks.

Very popular pub. Expansive and functional with just enough Cool
A. “. A.
Not a bad place as a somewhat local. Food is actually quite good and tasty and reasonably priced along with the drinks

Have been going to the Clock for years!
Used to work next door and it was our ‘3rd Meeting Room’ and now, like a homing pidgeon I keep finding myself back here...
Can’t be all that bad then...?
D. B.

N. V.
This is my go to place when i'm around the area and looking for beer. They have a great terrace overlooking Surry Hills & the city - and they also have a beergarden.
M. O. V.
Great venue, good vibe, only complaint is the price of schooners, but I guess that's the standard for the area!
L. N.
Really cool place. So big that it feels like five places in one. A good time can be had!

Not a bad spot in surry hills. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out and a good spot to watch some sport.
A. M.
Nice drinks and friendly staff. Balconies are great for sitting outside or people watching the street below.
C. J.
A nice dark beer to accompany a good steak for lunch. Very tasty.

I had a steak which was not like the random pub steak, it was perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce which made me want to go back for more!
C. s.
Tuesdays buy one get one free meals is an awesome deal, great atmosphere. Highly recommend
C. C.
The whiskey bar at the back is where it's at. The barrels are a bit rubbish to sit at as tables, but the drinks go alright.

Beer good. Smokers on the balcony and unfavourable wind. Food too modern...
