This place is a MUST GO! After putting this place on hold for many times, me and my friends decided to come to The Lobo and concluded that it's our favourite bar in Sydney! Service: 5 / 5 stars Vibe: 5 / 5 stars Drinks / Food: 5 / 5 stars I had Helen as service and she was amazing! She suggested us the best drinks and had a menu knowledge to pack for. After a long day playing ping pong and walking, she felt easygoing alongside with the vibe of the bar to kick it. The vibe of this bar is carribean and I thought it would be in some hidden alleyway but was pretty easy to find. Going down the stairs just transfers you to another world. The toilets looked also spectacular and fit the theme well. Drinks were amazing! Empanadas were amazing and FREE BANANA CHIPS!!! YAY.

Stumbled upon (…not into, promise) the Lobo and it soon became a must visit. You’ll be a rum lover in no time, if you aren’t already. Try and get a seat at the bar and you’ll understand why. We had Helen pouring our drinks, and no words seem adequate enough to describe how effortlessly good she is at what she does. This girl is a shining star! Constantly engaged with us and was happy to make suggestions when asked. Customer service is something Helen has on lock! Go say hi. You’re welcome.

Got stuck in Sydney due to a dust storm while I was down there at a work conference, and ended up at The Lobo with a gf also in Sydney at the time. She'd heard about how amazing this place was from some mates. They weren't wrong! Amazing atmosphere, pages and pages of amazing cocktails and really genuinely friendly staff. Entertaining too, great with a blow torch. Didn't try and food so can't comment on that. Everything else I can confirm is superb! Cheers gang, 10/10 will do again!

Stumbling upon this gem was definitely a reward. The music a little loud, but the ambience, fragrance and utter delight of flavours of each drink are medal winning. Enjoy my pictures and if you get a chance, try and get the drink with the orange peel (off the menu). A definite winner. The glasses that you are served in, are very elegant.

wow, the vibe and service is top notch. i was traveling alone and not 1 but 2 waitresses treated me like family and friends - chloe and kat super cool place with excellent lighting, noise volume, level of crowdedness, cocktail quality and novelty, and amazing staff. i’ll come here every time i’m in town. i stopped by 5-6 highly rated cocktail bars before and really glad i settled here. perfection.

Fantastic bar with great service and beautifully quirky yet stylish interior. The Caribbean theme is terrific and the Grenache-Shiraz blend that I had was affordable ($10) as well as delicious. Altogether, this place is marvellous for a relaxed night out 🌟🙌🏻😊 PS. beware that they set a minimum spent of $50 a head for reservations on Saturdays (which is why we just went there without a reservation and still got a great spot).

I was out about town, alone on a Thursday night. I found Lobo Plantation after being crowded out of nearby speakeasies. Right away, I experienced the nostalgia of my Afro- Caribbean roots with amazing rum, coconut and pineapple drinks infused with aromatics like toasted cinnamon stick - or rather, “roasted”bar side by makeshift pyrotechnics Bottomless plantain snacking chips and a Latin American menu rounded out the experience, along with the uber-friendly conversation with my bartenders Chloe and Paris. You never know at Lobo - you might strike up a conversation with a rum connoisseur or eavesdrop on the proclamations by lovers on their special night out. I can’t wait to go back with my crew.

Good, for what it is - a small bar specializing in rums. Very limited food selection, though you can get some fun, otherwise inaccessible rums, mostly from Central America, at a very reasonable price (drinks in pic are $11 and $14 respectively). Bartender was friendly and tipped me on what I should mix mine with, though that was just before 6pm Thursday after which it got impressively busy. They have flights of rums as well, with the most premium going up to $300+ to give you some idea. Great decor and theming, and every so often someone orders something that calls for the bartender to light their drink on fire, and it lights up the venue! Very fun. You can do worse on a classy barhopping trip, but I wouldn't make this my sole destination for the night.

Such a cosy venue to relax with friends. Surprisingly they had ran out of two bottles of wine we wanted to order. Limited food items which is difficult. Little on expensive side. You need to book if you want the leather lounges.

What an exceptional bar! As soon as you walk in you are greeted by warm, 1920s lounge vibe. The cocktail menu is fantastic, the bar tenders can also make whatever you can throw at them. One of my favourite places for cocktails. Actually, it's probably my favourite. Fantastic drinks, service and staff. Ask the bar tenders for recommendations as they really know their stuff. Its table service in the raised area but not the lower section as you walk in. I haven't eaten here for a while but the plantain chips are a nice accompaniment to a delicious cocktail. Highly recommended!

This bar is a hidden gem! The cocktails are delicious and the staff are very friendly. When it's busy it can take a while to get a drink, especially if you are ordering cocktails, but it is so worth it because they are delicious! Great atmosphere and decor. In the early evening you can really take in the place. Later on, it's a bit dark to really appreciate the place, and the music is a little too loud for conversation in a larger group, manageable for 2-4 people. Plenty of rums and cocktails to try. It's a cool little "hidden" bar. You feel like you've found something secret.

I was there on Tuesday evening, great atmosphere, not to crowded but still busy. I went there for a date with a girl, on the entendre lovely waitress welcomed us and arranged the sofa table. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks creative and excellent in taste. Bartenders show off their pouring skills, what makes it an exciting showto watch. Unique music not to loud, great to talk. Highly recommend place for a date or celebration party with friends/family!

Though the cocktails were divine, the wait staff friendly and the atmosphere was cosy... we were greeted with a stressed out doorman who told me that because a few members of my group were ten minutes late due to traffic that he was going to give their seats away (despite us having booked the table for two hours). This gave me a lot of anxiety as it took a lot for us all to be there that evening. I understand that businesses are pushed with all the covid these days but it really stressed us out. Then after we were seated and drinking we looked at the menu to order food and the bar had literally run out of food due to a big group the previous evening. So we had to relocate to another restaurant that thankfully were able to squeeze in a big group last minute over at barangaroo. Despite my experience I would one day like to give this place another chance but I really hope the doorman calms down a bit, it really left a sour taste unnecessarily.

They serve a nice selection of bar food like jerk chicken, baked cheese balls, pork crackling and many more. It is still a new kid in town but has been racking in awards like best new bar and timeout bar awards 2014.

What a find! We can't recommend this place enough. From the booking process through to the last good-bye, the service was seamless. The cocktails on offer were varied - from the classics to the creative, we were spoilt for choice. We were also really happy with the choices of rums since both my partner and I are enthusiastic distilled beverage explorers. It was a special occasion and we were treated to complimentary glasses of sparkling wine on arrival. These were served in old school champagne coups, which was so appropriate to the speakeasy vibe of the bar's décor. We ate some delicious Cuban-esque bar snacks and had a primo spot to survey our fellow bar-goers who seemed a mixed bag of post-work drinkers and maybe the odd out-of-towner. The noise level was such that it was easy to talk to my partner - it was so noticeable that sound baffling techniques had been employed to keep noise at a comfortable level, that it rates a big tick and honourable mention. We had a show to catch, otherwise we would've been perfectly happy to settle in for an evening of rum-infused conversation and more tasty bar food. As the organiser of the evening, I was thrilled with The Lobo Plantation.

Such a great find, a definite Havana feel with some exceptional decor that transports you to Cuba. Although spending $20 for a cocktail can be considered pricey; here it's an experience from selecting to watching it being prepped and manifested before you. We had long island ice teas, the Don Juan and Jurassic Juice. These were amazing, smooth and full of flavour. Had a great time just sitting, drinking and enjoying the casual feel. Staff were on point and super friendly. The place was packed and caters for all with a strong focus on rum of all kinds. I highly recommend this place

There’s something about this place that sparks my interest. I love the seasonal menu. I was particularly in love with the chai cocktail that was simply divine. The bartenders are personable and fun to talk to and especially entertaining to watch when out of nowhere they are setting a drink alight. It’s quite a sight to see.

Great selection of rum drinks in this kinda hidden bar in the center of sydney. As you would expect the drinks here are like 21+ bucks each so bring your wallet. I've only been here twice, however each time I've been looked after. Venue is well maintained, clean and tidy, music ambience is perfect. Staff have plenty of time for customers and know their trade, every staff member looked after me and my friend and had time to chat. Special mention to Chloe as she took on board everything I said I liked in a spirit/cocktail, then referred something new or different that was definitely within the parameters of what I had asked for. In saying that, I'm sure that's the level of service to be expected from everyone. All in all, I'm very much looking forward to being friends here and exploring more of what this team and venue has to offer. Can't go past the Cuban sandwich sandwich and empanadas. Those two are enough for two people as a semi substantial meal.

Lobo is a great place in the CBD with an extensive cocktail menu and relaxed atmosphere. Their offerings are a different from the norm which is what I like about it. Perfect for groups, the atmosphere is buzzy and the staff are nice, even when they are run off their feet. We did have to wait a crazy amount of time for our first drinks as I believe the order was lost but from there it was smooth sailing as we started ordering drinks in advance.

i thought it was overrated. It gets super crowded so chances are you'll stand squished somewhere. It is a little pricey but that isnt unusual for a fancy small bar in the city. A quiet night alone or a boisterous friend-filled bar crawl could not be completed without a visit to the Lobo Plantation. The minute you walk down the stairs adorned with Palm fronds you are transported to another world! The cane chairs, the decor and music all transport you to the feeling of being, well, on a plantation. These guys know their rum and have the most exclusive selection of rum I have seen in any bar. Their cocktails are serious business and are flamboyant in their look and taste.. Ohh you feel the riches ! The food leaves something to be desired for, I found it average at best, though different from your usual bar snack food menus. The pork crackling tasted more like chips with no salt on them. That said this is a place to go for your cocktail fix after long hard day in the sun ;). The staff is friendly and knowledgable and would whip something up for your taste if the menu does not catch your fancy.. All thumbs up for this place !

It can be a bit loud at times, so if you go in a group and want to talk to someone, make sure you're sitting/standing right next to them, otherwise it will be a shout-fest. Aside from that, it's a great place for after work drinks with friends and they do really nice cocktails (some of them flaming!). Special mention cocktail- try The Communist Sour. Food is pretty well priced too.

Pretty nice way to experience the Sydney nightlife. The main thing on offer is the rum based cocktails. There were a few selections of beer and wine, but pretty much non existent choices otherwise. But the cocktails on the menu were superlative. The cocktail which involves seeing a cinnamon stick to fire (literally) is amazing. The food choice is quite limited, and you need to be aware that this is predominantly a watering hole. There was one or two vegetarian starters so it was ok for me. Conveniently and centrally located in the CBD.

Tons of Rum to try. You have your classic rums like Diplomatico, Zacapa, Havana, Dictador, Millonario, etc. But you have rare gems like a Nepalese rum in a sword bottle. Pretty fancy. The place has also a really nice underground vibe with plush couches for big groups and service is always great. All staff is very knowledgeable and experienced.

Unidentified from street and down the stairs you enters a darnken Cuban Dance Hall (but there’s no room for dancing), imideitly looking for the tucan in the corner (not there). The specialty of rum cocktails was a strong draw card so don’t be easy on your wallet and try a few. The floor staff asked for a CC to start a tab, well “I pay cash” I said and a few minutes later after the drinks were served a request to settle the bill appeared. Give cash a chance, give people a chance. They won’t run away. Bottom line: I’ll be back!
