The Soda Factory is a cute and fun secret bar. We unknowingly came during happy hour and were super pleased with the cheap cocktails and discounted food! Even at regular price, the food is super affordable (Sydney “bar food” wise).
It bothers me that they advertise themselves as an “American diner” when they are clearly a bar that serves hotdogs and hamburgers (which aren’t even quintessential diner foods), but I’m American so I’m a bit touchy. All I want is a legit diner and this is NOT it.
Anyways, they have lots of vegetarian options which is great.
The atmosphere is really fun, especially once the live music starts. The cocktails were affordable and tasty. While it didn’t hit the diner mark, the fried pickles were perfection. I would return!

Friendly vibe and very affordable food. The waiting time for the meal is a bit long but overall I’m happy and will go back very soon. If you’re coming here, I suggest you bring your friends as this is good for group dining
E. F.
Really neat bar. All the cocktails taste fantastic and the American diner style food really goes well with the drinks.
Awesome atmosphere.
Groups of 2 can easily get in early as they let you sit anywhere where the booking isn't for later in the night

I really love the design of the interior of the Soda Factory. There are awesome artworks and antiques on the walls, the mood lighting really makes these pop. The staff are friendly and talented too. Average priced drinks for Sydney. They make a good long island!
D. M.
The vibe and music is great on a Friday night, just the price of drinks are some of the most expensive in Sydney, also the position of the DJ is a bit odd being next to the toilets. The bar service is very fast and entry is easy. Always a fun night at The Soda Factory

You'll definitely miss it, if you ain't looking properly! Definitely a nice hidden US-style diner and bar that you must tick off your list of bars to visit in Sydney!
The $1 hotdogs that happen every Tuesday is a bargain you don't want to miss out on! And check their website to see what other special events are going on. The Tuesday that we went they had musical bingo going on, which kept the night entertaining!
Best of all, it's located just a short stroll from QVB! Would definitely suggest making a booking, as there is always something on every evening, which attracts a crowd.

Great Bar and atmosphere. The bartenders are super talented and friendly. We were served by a lovely bartender Rachael, be sure to try her killer espresso martini!
L. S. S.
Great fun on Tuesdays. $1 delicious hot dogs and music bingo! Friendly staff and nice Dj.

Hidden behind an unassuming entry, with a couple of security staff the only telltale; it's no surprise that few apart from regulars know of its existence. Stylish, imaginative and pumping - would begin to describe the vibe of this speakeasy. Large comfortable booths allow groups of 6-10 to cluster and the bar does a great job of flourishing drinks on order.
Add to the list of Beautiful Sydney

AMAZING. Came here on a Thursday and their deals are so good. Love the ambience, food is great, drinks are even better, newly obsessed :)
H. P.
The Soda Factory, is there any place better? no there isn't!!! I always have an amazing time and they always have friendly staff. A huge shout out to Alex, when ever I go there he always makes it that much more memorable, he's a huge asset to the Soda Factory.
A. S.
Love the entrance! Super dark at first but your eyes adjusted nicely. Boozy floats are 👌👌 and live music set the mood nicely
G. P.
I've gone to Soda Factory on Fridays and Saturdays and I have always enjoyed myself! The music is good (starts with the oldies but goodies and goes into more recent music)
E. J.
Really enjoyed our time here! Great fun, great tunes and drinks!
W.
Had a lot of fun at this bar! Met one of the waiters there, Alex. Truly a solid guy and he really helps make what the bar is, a really friendly and great atmosphere! Will definitely go back for the experience :) :) :)
R. D.
It's an amazing bar, with an even better atmosphere!!!
If you haven't been you're definitely missing out and should visit. It truly is a hidden gem of Sydney as they say and I would definitely go back given the chance! I was greeted with friendly and capable staff, who did an excellent job. Shout out Alex! The music selection perfectly complemented the vibe of the bar!
Long story short give it a go, you won't regret it!!!
L. G.
The atmosphere on Friday night was amazing, live music, a lot of people, good vibe, it was my first time there and I have enjoyed a lot. Giving 4 stars only because I needed to wait the food for almost an hour... and the dog was not the best, but definitely would like to come back for drinks.
J. S.
Nothing wrong with the experience, verges on a pub vibe. VERY low lighting, if you are as blind as a bat too, you might have trouble enjoying the otherwise pleasant retro-American decor. Waffle fries were fantastic, drinks were decent.
K. C.
Awesome place to hang out and chill with some drinks and live music. On the weekends a great place to dance to live music. Nice rustic Americana decor with American fast food and drinks!
Specials are available on most nights like Tuesday $1 hotdogs!
B. E. M.
The soda factory is a pretty cool venue. Most days they have a specials. Luckily for us it was dollar hot dogs. So I got 10 and some truffle tater tots. The place has booths and table around the walls and the bar is in the middle which is good. Although only being a small venue it makes it exclusive with a not so obvious entry, though the bouncer out the front makes a little more obvious. They also have a dj and live music. So if you short for cash or just looking for a cheap eat check them out.

Love the entrance! Super dark at first but your eyes adjusted nicely. Boozy floats are 👌👌 and live music set the mood nicely

**Bobby's Boss Dogs**
Here for a work function. Very amazing food. Awesome staff. Lovely atmosphere. Just confusing outside when it says Bobby's Boss Dogs
A. M.
Soda Factory is a good place to hang out with your friends on Fridays and Saturdays and also when there's special events on (like Halloween or Xmas). The food is really expensive like $16 - 20 for a burger with chips (see pic) and it's just a normal burger.
Sometimes they have live music which really turns up the heat and turns the place into a party place with lots of people. The live music is actually really nice! I think that's the best thing about Soda Factory.
So instead of having food there, have dinner at a better resturant and come here for the drinks and live music with your friends. You'll have a much better time!!
T. H.
Been there for friends' birthday. It has a nice atmosphere and very vibrant. The crowd shifted from startled to jumpy and young which was nice. But the music was way too load. The DJ was good even though not always playing something to my taste but he could feel the crowd and did find some good tunes to get people moving. It was fun but really it was way too load, you will leave the venue will ringing bells in your ears for hours if not days.
N. L.
So cool, an unexpected gem while in Sydney. We walked right past the place being that the entrance doesn't give any impression of a bar or restaurant inside, we got there right as they opened went inside and we were surprised with how well done the 50's theme was. It was a Tuesday too, so we were able to have $1, $2 and $3 hotdogs which were great!
R. H.
Pretty good place, lovely American Aesthetic, Great live music and those 1 dollar hot dogs too. Shout out to Alex for good service.
S. W.
Tasty burger with fries. The waffle fries was really crunchy and delicious. The only con I would say is the place a bit too dim. Very interesting entrance. Surcharge applies if you want to pay by card.
M. P.
The Jam Mondays, great atmosphere, musicians come and play as they please. Ok beer selection, maybe pricey, but live music makes it up.
A. M.
IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN TO THIS PLACE THEN YOUR MISSING OUT!!!!
SODA Factory is one of the most vibrant and unique bars in Sydney!!!
With live music which is out of this world and definitely worth the trip!!!
Soda factory bring an exclusive American style diner feel, paired with their famous Soda floats creates an atmosphere you have never experienced before. The hospitality is top quality, I’ve never felt so comfortable in a bar environment with such vibrant and friendly staff!!! Shout out to Rachael who looked after our tables extremely well.
If you’re having a birthday here, I highly recommend booking the booths as they are super comfortable and 100% a vibe.
The Dj is also top notch bring you the best 80s and 90s hits which will definitely be making you and your friends sing along.
The food and drinks are extremely good! I highly recommend the Cherry cola soda float and the Motown Mac and cheese which is too die for!!!
One of my favourite bars and will definitely be coming back again!!!
Overall soda factory is hidden gem with unique aesthetic which stands out from the rest of the bar in Sydney!!!!
R. B.
The FAT BUBBA FRIED CHICKEN - Bucket!! Is the way to go. Grab your friends, get a beer and a bucket and get finger licking! The chicken is super crunchy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside.
A. D.
Only God will know this is a bar! And I would not dare to step in if there was not a queue outside waiting for it to open. After 1st door, you still to have bolder gut to open the 2nd door and a 80s American style pub appears in front of you :) Plenty of seats but reservation is good on Tues due to hot dollar hotdogs. 1$ each and I usually order a dozen with milkshake! A revenge cheat meal! :) Service is quick. Quite dark for corporate talk but a group of friends will be fine. Burger and fried chicken are delicious too but I am just into hotdogs hotdogs hotdogs!!!!
D.
Awesome decor and immersion, food was delicious and quite prompt. Drinks are creative and served with a little theater to keep things fun! Great place to visit.
L. A.
The food was very American! I don’t think the prices are bad considering the area it’s in. The venue is very nice. Both times I’ve been here, the music has been ok - but hey, that’s nothing about the establishment! I like it. I wish they had more food options.
E. J.
Really enjoyed our time here! Great fun, great tunes and drinks!
J. D.
Dimly lit and with a strong retro theme and good music, The Soda Factory offers hot dogs, chips and drinks. Bobby's Boss Dog did not disappoint - the meat wasn't overwhelmed by the flavour of the sauces and the waffle fries were fresh and crunchy. Didn't order any cocktails but the glass of red wine during happy hour was to my liking... Sweet and only $5.
The only issue I have is the bar tender charging a merchant fee without letting me know about the card surcharge beforehand...
Overall, this is a great place to party!
P. J.
Nice place with interewring decor ... Food is good ... America expected..chilled out place ... Went on Monday movie night .. Heard its good place for music n late night dancing
A. M.
I was looking for late night bites and this place popped up.
They have specials during the week; dollar dogs on Tuesdays, Jukebox Thursday, and I went on Movie Monday; they were playing Sister Act.
When you first walk up to the place you think it's just a little pop up soda stand. There's no sign on the outside so it's easy to pass up. I think there's normally a security guard or hostess but no one was there when we walked up. This cute little venue is a speakeasy.
Walked in and loved the chill vibes. It was dark, movie playing, people lounging around drinking cocktails, eating ice cream and popcorn. aka a mini heaven. Comfy couches, bean bags, and tables.
They have an "American" menu, which made me laugh. Their menu is straight up late night munchies food; mac-n-cheese balls, waffle cone poppers, buffalo wings, waffle fries, dogs, and fried chicken. They have some crafty cocktails with funky names. I went with the Jameson on the rocks with a side of fries and fried chicken sandwich.
Like their tagline says "Nice Peeps, Tasty Easts, and Music Treats."
M. B.
Musical bingo night was amazing, one of the bartenders Jack was amazing and made the best cocktails
T. U.
Went to soda factory with some friends for after work drinks. The service among the staff was exceptional. Music was such a great vibe! Thank you to Franky for his cocktail recommendations! I’ll definitely be back next week.
C.
Great drink selection and a very different vibe than most other hidden gems in Sydney.
P. J.
Soda factory is one of the best bars I've been too. Had a great time there, the food was fantastic. Rachael was super friendly and great, she helped us with our table!! I'd definitely recommend Soda factory.
B. P.
I visited the Soda Factory for the Monday Jam, and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere is great, the staff were fantastic and the music was brilliant.
The only drawback is that it was a little short on seating, but that's purely based on the number of people in the room.
I can't wait to be back again!
T. S.
Good food, great drinks, great atmosphere. Get great service from my mate Alex Mahchut who works there.
S.
Get here early, secure a booth with yoir crew and set in for a long night. Love music and americano grub! Staff and security friendly and accommodating
B. J.
A regular favourite of mine that keeps me coming back. Just a nice setting to make you forget about the outside world. Great mix of live music acts each week and ultra friendly staff. We love it here always a good vibe.
R. G.
Soda factory is a very a good bar, I felt so satisfied and I was walking on clouds. One staff in particular, Alex, made sure there was always a smile on my face :)
V. J.
Lovely place. The idea behind the venue is just awesome, felt like at home. The staff were friendly and professional. The hot-dog was just okay but the place makes everything worthy.
R. C.
Fun bar with great cocktails. Our bartender, Renata, was amazing! She was very friendly and had great customer service skills. If you want a good night out The Sofa Factory is the place to be
H. B.
Made a booking for 6pm the place is so cool, really great vibes, the $5 happy hour drinks were awesome, french fries were delicious the herb salt on them was amazing, the staff are really friendly and the live music was the highlight. Will definitely be back! Great vibes!
J. C.
Had an amazing night, food was speedy and delicious...band was energetic and entertaining. Service was way above board. The manager/supervisor pretty much made our night. I think his name was franky. Love me some Soda!!!
S. H.
Great cocktails and food but the music was so overpowered it literally vibrated cups and phones off the table!
N. C.
I love this place. The bingo, winning that free food and drink is an amazing experience. Who wouldn't love a dollar dog? Really really good quality food for 1 dollar. The rest of the menu is amazing, as well as the drunk menu. Cheap drinks on certain nights. The guys they get to come play are extremely skilled. Awesome joint.
J. S.
Hidden American-style diner underground vibes serving amazing hotdogs, chicken buckets and fancy cocktails.
The vibe is amazing inside and perfect for small groups, although bookings might be requires for busier days.
Daily rotation of deals for different dishes and drinks available as well as a stage for performing bands and movie nights too!
Staff are friendly and food is full of flavour and variety.
Amenities are clean and well maintained.
B. H.
Went on a Friday night. DJ was playing music that was loud and out of touch with the overall aesthetic of the establishment. Ended up leaving after about 20 minutes. I assume the experience will be better with a different set of tunes.
E. C.
Great venue! Cool staff, American inspired food, excellent drinks. Clientele aren't dangerously crazy, I married one. Security were a bit funny asking me for ID (I'm over 120) but that's ok. Everyone has a job to do.
So good cocktails, good food, good staff.
D. T.
Pretty cool place!! atmosphere is nice, the food tasted very good (quite happy about this actually!), the prices are pre expensive for some items :) The entrance was quite annoying to find since it didnt say soda factory out front... :P Regardless, pre chill and nice!!
V. S.
Happy hour is great! I liked the venue, a bit hard to find but that’s kinda the point. Great music too, made it hard to leave as they were playing some good tunes.
They also have hot dogs for 1 dollar, which is great, especially right before the salary comes in:)
A. K.
What a nice place to be in. Really enjoyed the drinks and food. My time here was fantastic... 🥰🥰
J. A.
My boyfriend and I had a Monday Date Night package at the Soda Factory, and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. For $35 per person, we got a delicious burger (with fries) each, our choice of cocktail, and a little ice cream... All while watching Rent on the projector screen! We had good service from the staff, who were very attentive without interrupting the movie for us. The venue is great, and we appreciated the setup so that we were cozy. Plus, they have happy hour until 7pm so if you want multiple drinks you can still leave without having spent a fortune.
The only things that prevented a five-star review would be that some of the advertising for the date night was a bit inconsistent. Mainly there were some items listed in our confirmation that weren't offered on the night we went, such as unlimited popcorn. We were very happy with our generous portions and the night on the whole, but wonder if some of the communication around the night needs to be cleaned up a bit. Thanks for having us, Soda Factory! You made it a Monday night to remember.
B. W.
Amazing atmosphere especially on Mardi Gras night. Beautiful bar staff who have outstanding service. Great dancing area with a great DJ who plays every banger you could ever think of, even took some requests. Plenty of space to sit if you get to tired to dance, but you really won't want to stop. Loads of fun for dancing and drinking and a great night out in town.
J. H.
Lets start of with the good things, Soda factory is a quirky somewhat hidden bar with nice interior close to public transport and easy to get to, It has a nice atmosphere and music. There are different themes and activities on each day of the week.
I've been here three times, and on three different days (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) All a fair amount of time apart. One of my main reason is I went was I wanted the Soda float(It might sound silly but this is one of my favourite drinks), and each time they were missing ingredients for it. It kinda sucks and was very disappointing, I'm not sure if I was really unlucky or the venue needs to work on restock but either way it wasn't the end of the world.
It can get very cramped on busy nights and take a long time to get a drink(a very long time), however most Sydney venues can get like this so I'd recommend going on a week day or getting there early. The seats are uncomfortable unless you're lucky enough to stag a booth, and the food it nothing special, good for if your drunk however I found it bland, so I'd recommend saving your cash for more drinks or eating beforehand. I would recommend the dollar dogs on Tuesday, obviously not amazing still pretty good value for a dollar.
Overall Its worth a visit for a quick drink or for some good music but not the best place for your weekend or a bite. Hopefully if you do order the Soda float they'll have the full ingredients (Still salty about my bad luck)
B. E.
A huge thanks to everyone at this wonderful establishment for hosting our rowdy bunch last night, they were so patient with us and so accomodating, even dreaming up a funky mocktail for me that was delish. The live music was great and special thanks to the girl with the headbeand at the door, we may have given you a bit of grief over the course of the evening but you never lost your cool, you're a gem 💎🙏
J. M.
Great atmosphere, hidden bar which is cool. Live music, staff friendly enough. Cocktails are so sweet but that's personal preference I guess. Would definitely recommend.
C. G.
This place is one of my favourite bars in Sydney. The vibe is always great, the cocktails are delicious, the American style food is great and it goes wild on a Saturday night if you're up for a party. Definitely make sure you check out musical bingo on a Tuesday evening, they also have $1 dogs available on the night.
b. o.
Soda factory is a hidden gem of Sydney. I had an awesome time, the foods and drinks were fantastic.
Rachael was super friendly and helpful all night! Would definitely recommend Soda factory to everyone!!
B. R.
Me and my beloved wife attend the trivia night at the soda factory.
We were met with the kindest of faces and the warmest of welcomes by the amazing franky
We perused the menu and tried the fried chicken plus the mac and cheese.
The Mac and cheese was a bit bland sad to say but the chicken was amazing, both of which fell terribly short of the service provided by the aforementioned franky. If you ever get the pleasure of being served by this man you're in for a night to remember.
I shall be returning for there cold and crisp draught beers and sublime atmosphere.
Thank you
A. R.
Go the bar at "Doller Dog Tuesday"! Hot Dogs (really tasty) for just 1$ each! I loved it here!
J. K.
Great place to hangout. Reasonable price on beers and alcohol. Come for their live band and you won't be disappointed.
T. W.
The lady at the front door was very helpful in informing me that this is in fact not a real Soda factory and instead a bar. Alas I stayed for a drink or two (or four 🙈) and actually had an enjoyable night. Thanks Ella!
T. K.
Awesome service at the Bar from Ella, she has made her own Jack Daniel and Passionfruit inspired cocktail and it is sweet and amazing to drink, would highly recommend for the menu revamp!
S. S. F.
One of my favourite weekdays bar with live music. The vibe is great and later hours people are ready to dance too. Weekend days in season are crowded but weekdays are comfortably spacious. Good cocktails and American beers. Food is average, but there are good value deals depending on the day. No minimum on card payments is a plus.
H. C.
Great bar and amazing atmosphere. Made way better by the friendly and fun staff! Shoutout Rachael 😉.Would recommend for anyone looking to have a memorable night out in Sydney.
K. S.
Hidden Gem and worth the hunt. Extremely fun atmosphere. I recommend dollar dog Tuesdays
A. N.
A nice place to dance your night out. Awesome drinks and good eating options. There is live music band. You can sit, chill, eat, drink and listen to them or join the huge dancing crowd! Its fun. A must visit place
D. P.
Great Americana food and lots of cocktails and beer. I had the chicken wings, highly recommended! There was live music and even when the DJ was playing the music was good and fit the theme of the bar. Later in the evening it was very crowded and even getting out of the place was a challenge (we were there on the Thursday before the Easter long weekend).
N. M.
First of all it can be tricky to find when you first go which all to the atmosphere with its hidden doorway. When you enter it's like stepping back in time.
The staff are really friendly, great music and cool events. If you are going to Monday movie nights I would recommend getting the date night package as your going to spend the money anyway, you'll save a few dollars and get some of the best seats. The food is really nice and they have some awesome cocktails. The only con I can think off is I didn't like the popcorn. The seasoning was a bit on the weird side however others may like it. Not really a biggie
Love this place and would definitely recommend checking it out.
J. G.
Had a great time there, was so much fun and the service from Alex was awesome!
R. K.
The Soda Factory is one of those places you end up late at night in Sydney. There's a cover charge of $10 to get in (at least when you enter at midnight), but inside there's good vibes. The music was great with a mix of old school and new, and everyone seemed to be having a great time dancing the night away. Good crowd with no issues. Drinks selection at the bar is fairly standard.
T. V.
Although the venue looks very pretty and the service is great, we found the food and drink to be average. To be fair the prices are pretty reasonable and there are events and thing happening many nights a week.
A. F.
It was my first time going to The Soda Factory. At first glance it doesn't even have the name The Soda Factory and seems to be just another burger restaurant and I had to ask the staff if it was, which they then confirmed. I was taken into a room and one of the staff members asked if I had been there before and I replied no. She then pulled open a part of the wall on the right and I found out it was actually a door that heads into the soda factory which I thought was really clever. The food is really good, I had the cheeseburger spring rolls and they were so awesome, the service was timely and the menu had so many great options.
Overall it's an awesome experience and I definitely do recommend it.
G. J.
A very cool little hidden bar where you have to go through an old Coca Cola type vending machine that is actually the door/entry to the venue.
Inside is pretty spacious. Lots of tables. But is still gets *very* busy. Plenty of booze to choose from. Definitely worth a crack.
I'd like to come back and try the food.
A. D.
Best place in Sydney! Pumping energy and great staff, never had a bad time here, great Muso’s and food is yum! I definitely recommend!
C. A.
Great vibe, great drinks and awesome music.
r. y.
Awesome bar with great vibe and music. Franky the manager is a legend!
T. V.
Although the venue looks very pretty and the service is great, we found the food and drink to be average. To be fair the prices are pretty reasonable and there are events and thing happening many nights a week.

One of the greats. Great hot dogs and awesome vibes
S. L. P.
Great service. Love the vibe here
D. L.
Great vibe and a good range of cocktails to try out.
H. B.
Made a booking for 6pm the place is so cool, really great vibes, the $5 happy hour drinks were awesome, french fries were delicious the herb salt on them was amazing, the staff are really friendly and the live music was the highlight. Will definitely be back! Great vibes!
B. B.
Nice vibe, live music, so-so customer service and my burger came real late. Will go again for the vibe. Something on every night.
P. W.
Great drinks and music

Me and my beloved wife attend the trivia night at the soda factory.
We were met with the kindest of faces and the warmest of welcomes by the amazing franky …
L. V.
Great live music on Thursday nights and cheap prices on food and drinks (also free to get in before 10pm). House DJ not so great for Fri and Sat nights. Sweet potato fries are to die for!! Hamburguers are pretty nice too. Great choice for Sydney.
S. A.
I did have a bit of a struggle finding Soda Factory but enjoyed the novelty value of walking through a Coca Cola freezer door to get to the main bar area. The cocktails are all around the $17-18 mark but worth it for a treat and there was a great range of hot dogs. Soda Factory styles itself as a 50s American diner/milk bar and it succeeds with the decor and the dress of the staff. I went a bit too early in the day at 6pm so I suspect it would be a lot busier and more fun later. The 50s style music was great though and if they are still playing there, Furnace and the Fundamentals are definitely worth seeing (and great to dance to)
C. M.
We came here on Sunday 5-8pm session, it was my first time here and although it was very quiet, we saw awesome two bands performed. Definitely will come back on a Friday or Saturday to check out this awesome place. We did turn up without a ticket, and were asked to purchase online, thats the only way. Staff were friendly, good band and vibe, highly recommend a Sunday night option!
D. G.
3.5 stars. Food is decent, but not great. It is reasonably priced, but service was slow and they never actually cleared nor cleaned the table from the previous client. Music was okay, but too much lighting behind the band, so you actually only see their silhouette. On the subject of lightning, don’t plan on seeing what you are eating...nor read the menu.
R. M.
The place is very nice, been there several times. It is a very nice place to meet your friends and share some drinks. I really love their hotdog, however I arrive after 9pm and for my surprise there was no more hotdogs (sold-out) . I was very disappointed that Soda Factory do not have a good stock of it. I will be there again, and hope this do not happen again.
G. H. S. F.
Musical Bingo night is the best event I have ever attended, but the hotdogs delivering to the tables take ages, once I stayed there for 3 hours and didn't get the hotdogs I ordered, and when I complained they couldn't even find my order. Lucky them the Bingo overshadow the hotdogs issue !!! :)
C. O.
I wish I'd taken more photos of this awesome little spot. It was recommended by a colleague and after a bit of trouble finding it- I'm glad we persevered.
We came on $1 hotdog night and oh my goodness if i was a local id be there every week. Highly recommend this place - however I do recommend getting in early to secure seats, otherwise do what we did and make friends with people with spare seat space, and don't forget ID!
K. L.
Nice bar. The entrance is behind a fake coca cola door fridge. Kind of original ! During Happy hour drinks are cheap (5$ glass of wine/beer). Sides are between 6 and 8$. I advice you to come on monday because they show movies in the bar (start at 8PM, every week a new movie). The music is loud, so it can be hard sometimes to discuss with friends. Nice place anyway.
J.
Went to this place on Dollar hot dogs Tuesday with a bunch of friends. Everyone enjoyed it, good atmosphere. Get there early or it could be hard to find a spot.
$1 hot dogs taste great for this price, there's 4 types to choose from, good topping. You get more than just a sausage and bun.
Chilli cheese fries, definitively recommend, my friend and I were addicted to it. Eat it while it's hot or it gets a bit soggy.
Cocktails are pretty good and they give u pretty good portions, not a full glass of ice.
There's also a band playing at night which is pretty good.
J. C.
Nice atmosphere and delicious hotdogs which was cooked incredibly fast. The alcoholic floats were nice but really messy to drink because the glass was overflowing with ice cream. 10/10 for the generous bar tender that mixed my drink which looked half-half. This place with a little confusing to find as it also goes by a different name but otherwise a nice treat.
G. S.
Nothing special
I was disappointed with their wings, because they call them buffalo, but they are just wings with normal chili sauce on the side. I tried to confirm with 2 of the staff if the buffalo in the menu was different from the promotional $1 per wing that we got on a Thursday, but they said it was the same.
I wish I tried the bucket of fried chicken, though I wouldn't have high expectations now.
We also got a $5 rings that was too salty due to some powder on it.
Their own beer is $5 till 7pm and it's alright. You can also have a not generous glass of wine.
The space is good with a big stage for live music, though they didn't play what they were promoting for the night we went.
K. M.
Went in for an afterwork beer and the lovely men behind the bar (Tyler) and manager Franky gave me a nice slice of hospitality that I had really needed on an unexpectedly down day and it goes to show you can never tell where the jewels of life will arise but I will definitely be back to thank those boys for the chat and the fine tequila recommendations.

My first experience at The Soda Factory was pretty cool. I went with a group of friends for $1 hot dogs. The gourmet dogs were amazing. Four or five flavours to choose from and because the dogs are a smaller size, you'd want to get them all. Because Tuesday's special is so amazing and popular, it's pretty hard to find a seat if you get there after 7. It's so worth the wait. Many people just give up waiting, order at the bar and eat while standing. The restaurant itself is very retro looking with the fluro sign at the front door and the waitresses all dolled up. It's quite the experience, it's just too cool. Once you go, you'll be hooked.

In the few times I've been to The Soda Factory, I've had fun. Always good music and once with a great live band. a good dance floor and cool booths to sit in. Also in a really good location with trains from Central station or Museum station.
G. C.
the hot dogs were a bit slow to come and they ran out of some of the more popular ones. the cheapest dogs were exactly what you got. . not really a bargain. the happy hour drinks were one beer for $5. The atmosphere and decor were the saving grace. a good night but don't expect a bargain
A. F.
The staff here are really nice! Both bartenders and bouncers seemed to have fun doing their job.
Prices are what to expect from a bar in central Sydney.
They had a live band the night I was there and they absolutely killed it. They did covers but own versions of it and mashups.

Original 5 star review below. I've since been back a few times and tried some other food options. Unfortunately, the chicken wings are soggy and the fries are way too salty. Stick with the hot dogs and the Cobb salad, both of which are good.
Went on a Sunday night and it was excellent. Great atmosphere, live chilled out music, great service and good value food. Perfect end to the weekend. What more could you want?
S. G.
Tues are their dollar dogs promo. You shouldn't miss this. Try to come early for a good seat as it'll run out pretty quick after dark.
Dogs are decent sized, you get 4 flavours to pick from. I highly recommend the chilli chicken!
Drinks are generally expensive here, especially beer. So why not try one of their floats for some fun instead.
And I loved the fact they play oldies music and watching people get up and have a jiggle on the dance floor. They also brought in a live band the night I went. Things got a bit loud from there on.
D. L.
The cocktails are just amazing I liked 9 out of 10. Snacks are also good, tried the fried cheese is nhumyy. Price is ok for the fun it's provided. Friendly and fun staff. Love Thursdays sesh but have in mind its going to be packed
Y. D.
I went with my hostel and the place is great! I love Thursday night because the live bank was good. I like how the crowd enjoys themselves and actually dance!! Bartenders are happy and service was decent. Went twice and will go back for sure
M. H.
I came here on the opening night and got to try one of their Mac and Cheese spring rolls - definitely an interesting menu.
Their cocktails are delicious and sometimes you can get cider for $5 at happy hour (including Friday nights).
It's a nice place with an old-school, pin up style theme, but it gets crowded quickly.
Look for the 'Bobby's Boss Dogs' sign. If you're walking through a fridge door you're in the right place.
T. P.
Great place with a large variety of delicious drinks and food. The cocktails here are delicious if not a little over priced. They have $1 hotdogs on Tuesdays and it gets very very busy then and on the weekends so get in early if you want a table. Because it's a closed in space, it can get quite loud with the crowd and the booming music.
R.
I really like the ambience and the movie on movie nights.
Regular diner food just like the states.
A bit pricy but nice once in a while.
M. X.
Nice place to chill after a long day, with $1 hot dogs on Tuesdays. The catch is that you have to buy a drink and there's a maximum order of 5 per drink. The hot dogs are decently sized and there is a variety to choose from. It has a unique retro atmosphere, though it can get crowded even on weeknights and you may be hard pressed to find a table.
B. A.
Fairly decent location, good music & drinks. However, had two incidents in the same night where I felt uncomfortable from another persons unwanted advances, myself and friends alerted the security about this each time and they just shrugged and didn’t seem to interested. Doesn’t make for a very safe feeling environment.
K. G.
Went here on a Saturday evening. We were the first ones in at 1800 hrs !
Trendy decor, low lighting, friendly staff, decent food and fair priced booze.
The place began filling up by around 2000 hrs, and I guess it really takes off much later in the evening when the DJ plays his Saturday night grooves.
I will most certainly go back !
I. G.
You can get a good BINGO of music's... so funny and good vibe. Also, on Tuesday you can get good hot dog for $1 dollar each. For sure it is not big, but if you take 5, it is enough and you spend just $5 dol.
J. B.
A super groovy, super retro hidden gem! Only downside was the EXTREMELY slow service but other than that, this is a great hang out place for Friday nights over a drink or two with a couple mates (you might lose your voice yelling over the hectic music)! Awesome music range and a very cool, a very retro interior!
M. E.
Great place for dancing to live music or a dj. Drinks are reasonably priced and the line usually moves fast. Not to mention the novelty of entering through a fridge door. Good for food when it's quieter with simple American style burgers and sides.
E. H.
Came on a Friday night, it was a bit overcrowded as the place is quite small but didn't ruin my whole experience. Has a bit of a retro vibe, which I love, with the bar located right in the middle which gives easy access. The drinks/cocktails were yummy and the food was also good with reasonable prices. Definitely would recommend but maybe better to visit on a school night as I've heard they have $1 hot dogs on Tuesdays!
A. F.
The Soda Factory is full of character and a great addition to pubs you shouldn't miss, the prices are far cheaper than others in Sydney and it's clearly a fun loving environment that will make the overall experience hard to forget (even if you get hammered). My one complaint is the toilets had serviettes to dry your hands in a can rather than a dispenser but that's me nitpicking.
M. F.
Soda factory offers a cool venue inspired by the 20's. Inside they offer a range of American style foods like wings, hot dogs and burgers. Old 80's music play over the speakers and invite you to dance on the rather open floor in front of the bar.
I had a burger and was not disappointed. For 16$ you get what you pay for: a good burger and lots of fries. I'd recommend this place for groups (AW's for example) or dates with someone who likes to dance, eat good food and have a cheap beer or a delicious soda float.
A.
A small and intimate bar in Surry Hills filled with lots of pop culture paraphernalia mostly adorning it's walls. Seeing the likes of soul singing Powerhouse 'Fats Domino', screen beauty & Hollywood siren 'Marilyn Monroe' & even a wall dedicated to the 50s Diva and singing sensation, 'Diana Ross' and scanning your gaze across the bar with its plush leather seating, pendant industrial lights and hanging signs like the 'Diner' and the old 'Soda factory' plaque on the stage... it makes for a very unique dining experience... whimsical and nostalgic, almost - as if you have been transported back in time - to the golden days of Hollywood, when showbizz was rich, glitzy and glamorous, and the music? Soul-filled, from the heart and forever.
I came for a dance but i think i'd rather dine, pick one of the many options for Sodas topped with cream and cherry on top & imagine a time when films and music moved me to the core - like no other. Yes, i will definitely come back!!!
Update - visited on a Tuesday night & this place earned itself another star!!! the $1dollar dogs were surprisingly good. Me and my mates got in early - 5:15pm so we could indulge & get a feel for the place & take our time enjoying different choices of mini hotdogs. For a dollar each - not bad at all. We also had a few Mimosa's and chucked down some good old Millers beer - 1 Mimosa and Beer costing under $10 respectively.
We chatted and laughed into the evening & decided to hang around for the musical Bingo session at 7pm. It went 'OFF' and it was brilliant. I haven't sung and/or laughed so hard in such a long time!!!
TFS is shy of 5 stars because - it felt like there was no air in our corner & one does feel claustrophic after some time. I mean, when you're in the corner in the presence of the Greatest boxer alive who has a killer smile to boot... temperature's are gonna rise ;) no doubt!
The place could certainly do with some light. I mean, I understand that maybe it's meant to have an urban, underground, boot-legging vibe... but for those birds who aren't partial to feeling cooped in - this place prob won't fare positively with them... so, perhaps have some air circulating with more fans and/or air con?
Watch this space for photos~*~

Amazing place to hang out with friends, enjoy live music or dj and...hot dogs for $1 every Tuesday!! 👏
N. W.
Absolutely loved it! If you haven't been there yet, you really need to. We enjoyed drinks in Jam jars, fantastic chili fries and hot dogs to die for, while dancing away to some Indie/Funk and soul tunes; what more do you need?
I am definitely hooked for life.
C. N.
I always love the Soda Factory.
The cocktails are supreme. The live band is insane and the crowd is just great.
Only problem is that it becomes to crowded for its own good, when you're spending $25+ on a cocktail you don't want to have to one eye on it at all times shielding it from the raging crowd.
L. B.
We went there on a Wednesday night for the Pulp kitchen menu: the $5 burgers were good, the fried chicken was okay, and the shakes were very heavy, too sweet and not enough chilled. Only 2 beers on tap, $8 schooner. The place is nice, but the service at the bar was slow.
U. A.
The front looks like an empty hot dog place. Make your way to the the Coca Cola branded fridge and you'll find the real entrance. The place is very busy, especially Tuesday for its dollar hot dog night. I've also been there on a Monday, where they have a movie night around 7:30-8pm, with some decent choice of movies. Decor is what you'd expect from a trendy/hipster place; there's a non operational scooter in a corner, a neon sign that doesn't work saying 'Signed Sealed Delivered'. A very interesting experience, and worth a repeat visit. Just keep in mind that it gets super busy, so lines may be long, and wait times for food even more so. Food is quite good though, offering a decent variety of hot dogs (including one vegetarian option), and some decent sides.
R. M.
Great atmosphere, music was fantastic and drinks were delicious 😍 we will definitely be back!
Y. M.
Really fun music, the DJ was excellent. Bar service was good & as expected of a busy club. But the layout of the floor with the toilets, bar, DJ & exit means that people are constantly pushing right through the dance floor to get places which makes it pretty disrupted and messy. We were constantly being pushed & shoved with drinks spilt all over us.
R. G.
The Soda Factory is a great place to hang out on a Friday evening after work. There is happy hour and a live band comes on a little later. They recently expanded their menu which is great, though I tend to still gravitate towards the incredible gourmet hot dogs. Recently, I tried the mac n cheese spring rolls, buffalo wings and popcorn shrimp as part of a 3 starters for $20 deal, and I wasn't particularly happy with these choices. I would recommend sticking to the hot dogs! The cocktail menu is great and they have a variety of drinks available at the bar. The deco and space is also really cool. Definately recommend for an inner city hang out spot!
V. M.
The front there is a different name instead of soda factory what cause some confusion to find the place, we had to wait 40min for two sandwiches. Would be better when the customer arrive someone come and explain how the restaurant works as well
B. R.
Good music and relatively inexpensive drinks. Bouncers are very strict, especially with guys. This is not the type of place where dress code should be enforced to this level.
P. П.
This place is an adorable old school milk shake dinner, hidden from the world, with free movie nights and other specials , one night each a week. Amazing style, awesome bathrooms and cute bar-tender get-ups ~ If you want to come with a group - make sure you pay attention to the day, if its the weekend etc. maybe come early or make a booking.. it can be filled up ~
C. Z. (.
Decent atmospher, something new amd interesting. Food was ok. Service was polite. Interested in comming back.
S. R.
Such a cool vibe. It's readily accessible and is a short walk from either central or st james stations. The area is relatively safe in the later hours of the night but i recommend turning up a bit early if youre in a group otherwise the booths are gone by 7:30. The only downside is the cost of some of the cocktails they average around $20 which could be reasonable but i dont know. The place literally turns from a bar to a club in the space of 2hrs. Highly recommended
Z. B.
Huge line on the weekends, but it's worth it. Inside, it's intimate yet still clubby. I liked how all of the bartenders were really getting into the music and didn't take their job too seriously. GREAT music. The DJ plays a lot of music that you generally wouldn't find at a club, but it worked.
d. v.
Pretty decent, the security is kind of rude and don't let you back inside if you go out for a bit. The drinks are very overpriced, but the atmosphere is nice and the music is great. I would recommend coming in earlier at around 5/6 when the live music is on.
N. C.
One of the best nights out in a city with terrible night life (due to lock out laws). Like the DJs more than the live bands. Line to get in can be long. Had one bad experience with an over-officiating bar tender being a bit mean to one of my female friends which wasn’t great, but that’s pretty common in police state Sydney these days...
A. K.
I guess time will tell if Soda Factory keeps pulling in the crowd but for now this place is buzzing. I nearly had to stand in queue for an hour to get in. Personally I like the theme but I'm not that crazy about hot dogs. The live music on Fridays is the highlight for me. Worth giving it a try - you'll either love it or decide it's not for you.
K. B.
Coming from New York, I am not overly impressed with ANYTHING in Sydney. Let's be serious, the nightlife is severely lacking. However, the Soda Factory has a unique charm and vibe that I found to be one of the most appealing. Yes the line to get a drink is long, but it's a crowded bar, what exactly do you expect? The decor, the candles, the overall feel of the place is great. Love the new American menu, especially if you are having a night off of your diet.
T. J.
Good dogs, service is okay but not great. Lots of beers. Cool atmosphere. Place fills up very quickly on free hot dog night and you will probably have to wait for a table or seat.
A. A.
A very groovey a club/bar. Some great music is played here. The staff are friendly and the general party goer here are friendly too. There's normally a line after 9pm and it's really hard to get in, one of the downfalls to this place is popularity!
T. C.
Great food! Soda floats are a must try especially with their Monday movie nights
M. R. S.
Great place, they screen classic movies on Mondays with cocktails and food for a cheap price.
I. A.
It is like another dimension. Hard to find for the first timers but usual place after that. Too much crowded and noisy nowadays but it is still one of my favorite places. And I love the details on the wall, it somewhat makes me forget the real mess we have in real world. World used to have better aesthetics and taste back in 40-90s.
A. B.
Their food is the best I thought they only sell soda but they're not. They have the best cocktail and beer. I really love their chicken wings. If you haven't try this place you should. Its a big mistake not going here.
K. I.
Love the dollar hot dogs here!! I came here on a Tuesday night and although it was very crowded, my friends and I here were determined to try these highly recommended dogs. The place, like I mentioned, was quite crowded so it did take very long for our food to come out.
However, the hot dogs were sooo good. I ended up getting three and I could've probably eaten more if I wanted to.
B. K.
Cool bands, had a nice movie night there and music afterwards.
Cons: $5 wine promotion is a bit of a lie - it's only like 2/3 of a glass so works out more or less same; will never order sweet potato chips again - covered in sugar and not very tasty; free popcorn - yay! but covered in a weird tasting powder - why not just salt??
E. R.
I went for $1 hotdogs. The hotdog itself was ok but amazing for only $1. Their was live music which was played way to loud. I only went for a uni welcome event but the music made it impossible to hear anyone so it seemed everyone left quite quickly and I followed suit. Service was nice and quite speedy considering how many people were there. I wouldn't recommend this place for groups but it had its charm and I would go again under the right circumstances. However, again, music was too loud.
K. T.
I love the soda factory!
Perfect if you want to enjoy a nostalgic American diner meal or just a sneaky drink.
Love walking through the door as it confuses you everytime. The staff are always welcoming.
N. O. (.
Great place for a friday or saturday night! The Jhonny Adams Hot dog is amazing! The buffalo wings are too hot. The chips are delicious. Awesome music. The only thing that I didn't like is that you have to go to the bar to order food and drinks, it is very full and the bartenders don't have an order to attend people. If you go on friday, arrive before 8pm or you gonna be waiting table for a long time!
H. N.
My first visit didn't leave me with a good impression as the place was understandably overcrowded and noisy on their first birthday. Subsequent visits on weekday evenings, however, revealed a unique retro vibe down to the smallest details and attractive deals for food and drinks one cannot simply turn down. I like how the music and noise level on a regular evening is just right to enjoy the best deals in town while having a chat with friends. Besides, there is always the many interesting retro stuff on the wall, at the bar, in the bathroom, etc. for one to be transported back in time and feel disconnected from the harsh reality outside the door. Check out the recently launched $1 hot buffalo wings; deliciousness guaranteed from the first sniff. Will return with reinforcement.
H. P. (.
It is great place. They have done good job to get the retro look and it looks good. They even went to the extend of making the washroom look retro (check my picture out).
My only worry is about the signage. The entrance says "Bobby's boss dogs" and not "The Soda Factory". I was a bit confused and was walking past the entrance a couple of times. I had to call the person who invited me to make sure that it is indeed the place. Then I took a closer look and there is a little metal plaque at the entrance which has "Soda Factory" but I feel they should either not call it Soda Factory on Google Maps, or put a bigger sign which reads "Soda Factory".
I did not stay back till the band came on. May be next time...
D. L.
Who wouldn't want $1 hotdogs?? And an optional vegetarian hotdog at that? :) The vibe inside Soda Factory is amazing and it is a good spot to hang out with friends and dance to the live music band. The set starts at 8pm and there's another set I think at 9pm. Seats are for reservation unless you chance upon less guests coming in, which is very rare. What is interesting at first, you can find Soda Factory secretly behind a Hotdog Signage and I was confused at first that I couldn't find it, until I asked this hulky bouncer which made me realize there is a door somewhere here! I also tried their signature Candy Pop Vodka since I love Vodka and sweet fluff cotton candy on top. This is a must go place in Sydney!
C. C.
Tuesday music bingo is unreal. Always have a great night here. Benny kills it on the the mic. Eleanor makes the best espresso martinis in Sydney. Seriously.... Try one, unbelievable!
J. A.
Might be my favorite bar in Sydney.
Side note: Following an extremely well handled situation last weekend, I just wanted to say that Cyrus and Ibo (hope I am remembering names correctly) are first class employees. Their treatment of customers is one that should be admired and appreciated.
D. S.
Hit and miss.
Great live music.
The Monday night cinema is kinda cool, but the noise from patrons passing through/around the screen make it more of a background experience than a real movie watching experience.
The drinks...hmmm...beer only. I had one of the worst Rob Roy's I've ever had in my life here. Took more than 30 mins to make on a quiet Monday night and then to back it up tasted like pretty much Vermouth. Shocking experience I'll never forget. So only beers.
J. G.
Without a doubt my favourite night out in Sydney. The music is epic and the fried chicken buckets were an excellent addition for my friends later in the evening. Banging 90s hits all night- definitely not a disappointment.
K. D. M.
Nice cocktails and beers options, a few vegan food on the menu as well. Great bar offering a different entertainment every night.
w. x.
A small almost hidden place with great atmosphere. Their hotdogs are pretty good and I loved their music. Especially liked the live music that goes on almost every night. I heard they have a hotdog special on tuesday ! The whole place has a retro feel to it, completed with old music, so if you like to try something new, you should go there !
P. D. (. F.
Not all hot dogs are $1 on Tuesday, some are $3. Was excited for the Buffalo Bill but was told they didn't make them (???)
Hot dogs buns are tough and dried, filling was just average.
Music was nice, good old songs, but very loud.
Staff are friendly.
R. C.
Like a hidden gem hidden away behind double wooden doors. Food was unreal, drinks were reasonably priced and the atmosphere was amazing. Lived in Melbourne for 14 years and haven't found anything like this yet down there. Will recommend this place to anyone visiting sydney! Thanks for an awesome time!
N. S.
Awesome venue. Hidden behind a fair hot dog shop, the entrance is disguised in the coke fridge. They got different events events every day and in weekends live bands and djs. Great atmosphere, great drinks and excellent service.
S.
Nice and chill place if you dislike loud obnoxious clubs/bars with thousands of people. Very well decorated and good food deals. Music is good original stuff, so generic trashy pop music
P. L.
Hidden in Surry Hills this diner/bar has great atmosphere. Drinks are great with a number of delicious floats served in typical american milkshake glasses. Might take a while to find but definitely worth the search. Get in early because this places fills up quickly on a Friday / Saturday night!
N. C.
the food could have been better but great vibes. good service from rachael, very friendly. would definitely recommend :)
R. F.
Drinks were alright, vibe was fantastic - bar staff are way too slow. Half an hour wait to be told the kitchen closed two minutes before I was served (what the hell is that?!). You either need faster service, more staff, or a better system.
S. C.
Good food, good old classic music, a fallout-esque bar feeling. Hot dogs were solid, $18 each with reasonable toppings and surprisingly soft buns, with a good load of chicken salted chips. Drinks were reasonable and bartender was generous with the shots.
Tables seating is a bit eh but lots of couches and barstools around.
N. A.
A really cool place to hang out. The bar sits in the middle of a room full of awesome seats and booths. You can't go wrong with the dollar dogs (Tuesday) or the chicken wings (Wednesdays). The Sodafactory books some great bands which can lead to a crowded room full of people chatting and dancing all over the place.....which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
B. B.
Love this place!! ....You enter via a drink machine! They have great food & unusual drinks such as milkshakes with alcohol.
Only drawback is I find it a bit too dark and loud to socialise with friends.
V. C.
Good place to have some drinks with friends or by yourself. Friday night free entrance until 22 h. A good band was tonight playing. Bar can be a little slow if too bussy.
K. S.
Excellent for the music if nothing else.
Only giving 3 stars because I had to queue for over 20 mins because the place was apparently full. Counting the people that came out, versus the space when we went in, it just wasn't full or close to it. Maybe it is supposed to be half empty? Who knows.
Go here early to avoid the queueing silliness or just go to one of the other awesome music venues in SH.
Didn't have the food however prices seemed very cheap.
A. U.
I love that this place is hidden with no obvious signage. I've been here so many times and I love it! Only issue I have with this place is the food, the menu looks and sounds amazing but the food isn't anything spectacular. The drinks are good though.
L. J.
I didn't expect the hot dogs to be so filling, filled and bursting with flavour! What made it even better was we went on a Tuesday night, where most of the gourmet dogs were just one dollar. The Texas Redneck and Buffalo Bill are my favourites so far- the Texas Redneck had a bratwurst sausage with a slight smoked chilli kick and a punch of something like coriander-adding freshness to the whole thing and stopping it from becoming too heavy. I really liked the vibe in the bar too, with live music, a good crowd and tasty drinks. Will have to come back on an emptier stomach to try the rest of the hot dog menu...!
C. C.
Love the atmosphere and the ambience! The drinks are pretty cool too as well as the $1 wings and $1 hotdog deals! Just sometimes a little bit loud for a venue that’s supposed to be chill
J. D.
Just went tonight with my wife. I didn't read the reviews and I'm glad I didn't because I would have been scared away. I was in my work clothes, but had no one refuse me or my wife entry and service. The music, atmosphere, and drinks were great!
Thanks, guys! Will have to stop by again for sure! (Just not in fluro next time haha)
P. L.
Not quite worth the hype it receives in my opinion. The cheap tuesday hotdogs haven't changed for a very long time and the bread to sausage ratio isn't great. Despite that the atmosphere is great with fantastic music in the background. Get there early to have somewhere to sit.
L. N.
Particularly good on a Tuesday when all hotdogs are only $1 each! The vibe is very loungey, with a very hipster feel. They often have live music acts performing throughout the week, and the place doesn't tend to get too packed out. The drinks are somewhat overpriced, but the spiders are great, if a bit filling.
J.
Went here for dinner and the Buffalo wings and Bobby's boss dog were below expectations. Both tasted like something you'd make at home, nothing really special about them at all. If you're after an average dinner with a price and atmosphere, this is the place.
A. T.
Great American themed bar, good beers and plenty of events each and every week.
A. D.
Had dinner here last night with a few of my friends. A friend of mine from America had actually marveled at the setting, though minutes after ordering was rendered completely upset by the service. I had noticed the female bartender was extremely rude. Usually, it would be normal to voice out the need to hear your order when you've got quite a lot but the bartender who took their orders rolled her eyes and after repeating the order asked "Did I do my job right? It's not rocket science." with attitude, and another eye roll. She was the only female bartender that early in, about 6pm it was, and the nicer male bartender was serving drinks. My friend also asked if they served a certain drink and she disregarded that question, instead choosing to ignore and flirt with an attractive man who was basically third in line. She was rude, and she'd seemed as if she was hungover. Later on, my American friend, who finally got her food had pointed for all of us to look at the bar, where the bartender served me a drink from the tap. At the same tap, she'd gotten two drinks and carried on to down it all in two gulps along with a couple of her other colleagues. I wouldn't care if she'd been able to serve and act properly, but because of her, the atmosphere was destroyed and the food didn't taste decent. We got out of there as soon as we finished our meals and not a moment too soon.
L. R.
One of my favourite hidden bars in Sydney. Amazing entrance, cozy decor, great weekly specials/events ($1 hot dogs), chill vibe and quality drinks selection. basically becomes a club on Friday night though.
M. G.
$1 hotdogs on Tuesdays with a veggie option as well for $2. They're a lil bit small so maybe order 3 for a full meal. The music is also great. Plays everything from Arctic Monkeys to Frank Sinatra.
N. S.
Was with 2 friends, ironically I am the oldest and I was the only one who got carded. Order a drink at the bar only to be carded a second time. Ordered a cider, turns out they had ran out of the one I wanted and gave me a different one without telling me, so I got up and returned it. They should tell me that they have run out instead of replacing it with another (the alternative was one I don't even like as well! Not paying $8 for something I don't like).
Food is fun, but overpriced and whoever was in charge of the chips went a bit nuts with the salt. My main con with this place is that because it is a sub-level bar, the music is just too loud and you can't hear anything over it. Live acts are really neat, but not when your ear drums burst.
C.
The shakes are amazing and the cheap Tuesday and Wednesday deals on wings and hot dogs are great too.
D. L.
I came here with some friends, to our surprise it was $1 hotdog night! This was amazing the food was great and the place had been laid out really nice. There was a choice of six or seven different hotdogs and between three of us we tried them all, they were all really good and presented well. Would defiantly go back with friends, not only because the hotdogs were only $1 but the environment was really cool.
A. K.
Came here for a fourth of July party, so it was a bit outside the norm for the place - was very busy, and the atmosphere trended a bit loud, even with the music. All the food that came around (chips, wings, etc) were manageable and not half bad. Would go here again sometime when I'd actually be able to hear the other person next to me. Generally liked the space and thought it would be good for a quieter time.
K. B.
A pretty cool hangout. Went on a monday night and for a few. Unfortunately for us it was extremely busy (it must be pretty well known by regulars) and we ended up sitting at the bar. If youre planning on coming here i suggest you pre book a table or booth. Really nice retro/vintage vibes in here. The only slighlt let down for me was the drinks menu. Cocktails didnt sound good, or even well paired in my opinion. Will definitely be back
B. W.
Great vibe. Awesome band. Band lead singer says, “I’m gonna play a Magic Mike song. If you’re trying to impress a woman tonight you know what to do.” Friend undoes shirt, manager tears over and in a genuine panic frantically instructs friend to button up shirt. “Why?” I ask. “Because I’m the manager and I said. I’ll kick out the whole group.” Proceeds to tell other staff to monitor group. What. A. Dick.
T. K.
Not the best bar in town, but it goes beyond a usual faux-speakeasy to have a great atmosphere. Good drinks, greasy giant food. Stay for the movie nights. Get there early if you want to get a table.
S. B.
The Soda Factory is such a fun place to be on a Saturday night! The only issue: the floor is so sticky 😅

The hotdogs are full of fun! Too bad it was too dark when I was there for me to really see what I was eating. Not enough bartenders for a Friday night, waited 20 minutes to order food and drinks. But the chilli cheese fries were worth it. Also the Fats Domino hotdog with the gumbo was super tasty! Love the girl at the front in the roller skates.
k.
I love the atmosphere ! Cheap Drinks and good music ! Now I can only give 3 starts..why? If you are a dark skinned person, you will never appear in their Fb photos! The 21st century racist epidemic with their color blinded photographer girl. I've posed for her atleast 3 weeks in a row but never ever published. If you dont trust me, just open up Soda factory Fb page photos. #disheartened

What a trendy little interesting place that could easily missed if you dont know what you are looking for. When you arrive at the sign BIG BOSS HOT DOGS you have arrived but you dont realize this until you enter through the coca cola doors.. i went here last night to attend a meet up event which was a free movie and cheap drinks.. $5 happy hour between 5 and 7 got the crowd in. The movie that got me there in the first place was "hes just not that into you" yup its a chick flick :)
I found the atomospher to be great.. low lit.. great decore and a decent size. The service lacked a bit.. in all fairness it was busy.. i ordered their world famouse mac and cheese and it gave my taste buds the resemblance of KD from back in Canada (one of my favourite snacks) so i was happy with that.. what i wasnt happy about waiting close to an hour.. when i went back to the bar the bartender said they couldnt find me and to be fare im short and the place was packed but ya.. when it came it was good.. the bartender also comped my last wine for the inconvenience which turned the experience right around..
L.
Was really great and retro. It was a bit confusing to find but all in all was a great experience. Food was priced great for the amount that we got. Drinks were good. Don't forget to bring your id's!
E. T.
I've been at Soda factory to prestige Lauryn Hill tribute and was so nice!
J. B.
Good place to grab a drink and dance in a laid-back atmosphere. However it gets crowded pretty easily and bouncers have an habit of kicking you out for no reason in order to let other people in.
A. C.
Had problems with security for no significant reason... twice. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt if it had happened once, but it seems to be constant. The mood inside is pretty good, and beer goes for around 9 dollars, not bad.
A. A.
Rachel is the best bartender! Love!
S. G.
Great little hidden bar!
unlike your usual hidden speakeasy type bar this place is pretty big. It has a great atmosphere, good bar snacks/food and just a good vibe.
It can get busy but every time i have been here it's not completely packed
T. M.
Dollar dogs dollar dogs dollar dogs, say no more! Every Tuesday night they have amazing hotdogs for such a great price that you cant say no. That's if you can find the place, secret squirrel entry for those in the know. Place gets rammed on the weekends so get there early for a fun night of awesome drinks and atmosphere.
M. V.
Fun cocktail menu, live band and good atmosphere. More fun pre covid but still a great place even with the restrictions!
C. X.
Finally managed to make my way here, and though I am told that Wednesday nights are rather different from the end of the week, I have to say that I am quite impressed! Cute entrance with a nice jazzy broadway feel once inside, the food was decent and cheap, and the alcoholic spiders a very nice touch.
C. H.
Great decor/vibe and hotdogs but the guy behind the bar with the mustache needs a serious attitude adjustment. Every time I've been here he's been rude and condescending to either myself or my friends. Starting to turn us off coming back.
E. K.
This place is pretty amazing, I really like the fact that every day of the week there is a theme that makes you want to go there, like 1 dollar hotdog Tuesday (they taste awesome). Or pulp kitchen Wednesday where you can get burgers and chicken wings for $5 and enjoy swing, or Monday movie night... It's got something for everyone and the atmosphere gets you in the mood to have as much fun as possible. I would just say getting there can be a challenge if you don't do research beforehand as the front is not obvious at all and you can easily walk right past it. Look out for a glass door entrance with what looks to be a 50s style hotdog shop with a sign inside saying 'Bobby's Boss Dogs'. This is a disguise front for the bar. The vending machine inside is actually a door that leads you inside. Pretty cool huh!?
j. l.
Doorman wouldn't let me in because of my footwear even though women were wearing the same thing. Long queue to get a drink. Misleading advertising about a cocktail on special. Music was good though.
A. M.
Yummy & cheap food on the regular. Good place to go if you don’t know what to do. They always have stuff going on. Get there early in the night cause usually it packs out and seats are limited.
A. O.
Loved it.. good food and friendly staff. Fun entrance and great experience.
V. A.
Love the range of hot dogs and the low-key retro diner vibe. Nice place for a friendly night out, a bit noisy however but in-house singing was good.
D.
Cool vibe with great decor. If you are not familiar with American beer brands, ask the bartender for a recommendation.
The entrance is hidden and you may walk past it easily.
B. H.
It's a nice venue! Can be alot of fun! However security and management can be quite unprofessional. I have experienced / seen alot of people get treated extremely unfairly. I don't believe they respect and look after their customers at a level they should.
L. E.
Trendy slightly secret bar in Sydney's Surrey Hills area. The bar is hidden inside a hotdog stand, so don't be alarmed if you don't see the sign. The back is set up like a 50s American diner with hotdogs and other classics. They also have good happy hour specials from 5-7. Much more of a local hangout, than a tourist destination.
E. S.
Pretty pretty okay place for some music and a bit of dancing or lots of them. Combine that with food and drinks both also available here. Weekdays are okay but Friday and Saturday are quite busy especially from clubbing hours. Expect to be waiting for(ever) hours outside.
M. L.
If you're looking for a place with interesting cocktails - served from your own soda fountain, American food such as hot dogs and deep fried mac and cheese, and retro music this might be the place for you.
The food is not mind blowing, but the alcoholic soda floats are what you come for! Overflowing retro glasses of coke, ice cream and rum is always a winner.
Tends to get busy so get in early...
D. F.
This old nightclub has been revamped with a few ideas borrowed from the US. The "hidden" entry via a fake hotdog store adds the kitsch that many Sydneysiders needed to check the place out but you'll stay for the great live music on many nights of the week as well as the tasty hotdogs. The most annoying aspect of the bar is the extremely long wait to be served and the slowness of the bar staff who seem to be more interested in being seen than serving drinks, a uniquely Sydney problem. The only benefit of the long queues is you tend to meet people more easily through the shared frustrated experience. You'll definitely have a good night here, just be prepared to wait!
J. B.
Great American style food, coupled with friendly staff. Definitely would recommend it for anyone who gets those cravings for Americana cuisine and are in the CBD. Definitely try the mac and cheese spring rolls - you will not regret it!
M. N.
Came here for after works drinks on a Tuesday with the $1 hot dogs. The front door is disguised as a retro drinks vending machine. Very confusing but very cool. It's fun watching people trying to figure out how to get in.
At $1 a dog you can't really lose...until you start ordering drinks which are relatively expensive. $9 Peronis and no beer on tap.
The $1 hot dogs are limited to only 4 difference choices. The frankfurts were small and skinny and there was not enough toppings to demand a normal price of $10. I had 5 while my colleagues did 4 each. It was quite busy on Tuesday so get in early to get a comfy sofa.
F. R.
Good American music. Well priced drinks. Nice place to meet people mainly international visitors and residents. Couldn’t ask for more to give five stars.
L. h.
THE best veg hot dog and chips ever, I ate the whole lot. Went on a Monday for a free film, if the film is a good one be sure to book. Follow google maps... The place is there, promise!
S. S.
It's hidden away despite being on the main road. The entrance is to the side of a what appears to be a hot dog place. Live band was epic the night I went. The crowd is nice & diverse.
I. A.
The DJs aren't great. Their modes are horrible. And you won't hear anything from 2005 and up. Idk why. There's space to move around but I dont think it's worth it if they're charging anything.
M. C.
Food was decent and friendly bar staff. Attentive waiters that cleared out the food baskets as soon as they are empty. As for the music, it was too loud. Could hardly have a conversation the whole time we were there.
L. G.
All I have to say is $1 dollar hot dogs on a Tuesday!!! Should book a table as it gets pretty busy. Has a 50/60s vibe about it - also good for a night out but drinks are pretty expensive
A. A.
Great atmosphere and music. Presentation of drinks was a bit naff. Fun, but naff. The Pablo Escobar cocktail was served in a coffee cup, which is cute and all, but in a crowded setting, easily knocked and spilled. Not fun for anyone involved.
O. M.
Good bar, fun entrance. Dollar dogs night is good fun. Bands are normally ace, as is the ice cream floater :)
b. b.
Came here during $1 hotdogs Tuesdays. It was packed, it was busy, and my order took at least half an hour to come. The hotdogs were subpar but I suppose you can't complain if they are only $1. Their chilli cheese fries are really good though, not sure I would buy them for the price again however.
B. B.
Really nice atmosphere, cool people, good food. Beer can be pricey. Only complaint is that it's too dark inside.
S. S.
Great service, atmosphere, music, food and drinks. Tuesdays are a great day to come in too if you're like me and like small portions of food and don't have a lot of money ($1 hotdogs)
M. 1.
Cool venue, happy hour is pretty sweet after work on Fridays. Food is really awesome, but the service all round really lets the place down!
R. W.
Great little bar hidden in Surry Hills. Live music is exceptional and $1 hot dogs on Tuesday put this on the must-visit list.
D. G.
Words can not convey the many unique climate. So it is in this case. To experience the "flavor" of the place, you might want to try it, experience it. Talking about the uniqueness of this place do not forget the wide choices of alcoholic beverages, hot dogs in soda factory as a place unique.
my favorite place in sydney!
S. R.
Awesome atmosphere and great cider. Went to the Kurt Cobain tribute and have tried their $1 hotdogs. I totally recommend it.
J. C.
Hidden behind the secret vintage coca cola refrigerator door lies the Soda Factory. Be prepared to line up to get in on weekends, and as most people have mentioned Tuesday's is dollar dogs. Cocktails and hot dogs, what more could one ask for!
C. A.
Great vibe, great drinks and awesome music.
H. B.
Great bar but small bar. Commercial Hip Hop music with great DJ. Lots of fun but depend on who's there on the day you're going. It closes at 2
L. m.
This tiny little bar is surprisingly good. Great atmosphere, good drinks and snacks and great music. Good vibes, good fun.
A. N.
One of the few only places in Sydney still offering decent nightlife and atmosphere. Songs played at the weekend have stayed though the same for years. Time to offer some variety please.
P. C.
Amazing little place tucked away in secret.
Cinema nights Mondays are popular.
Chicken in a bucket very popular.
Old style soda bottles everywhere.
Look for the old fridge door for access to this secret bar.
M. C.
The “Buffalo Bill Chicken Dog” was everything I’ve ever wanted in a hot dog.. The batter from the chicken sausage is thin like tempura and the crunchiness provides a lovely complimentary texture to the chicken sausage. Each bite is flavorsome and the sauce is delightfully tangy providing a nice Southern taste. After finishing that one, I immediately want another. - PlanMB
L. C.
Sofa factory is a not so hidden gem. They have delicious food and drink options and sometimes they host movie nights. Well worth a visit.
D. F.
Huge hotdogs and great vibe. Music can get loud on the days there's a live band playing covers. Chips come super salty with a slightly sweetish chicken salt.
K. K.
Amazing little bar that is hidden behind a secret coca cola door. Pleasant atmosphere and nice staff. Highly recommended.
V. X.
The buns are soft, generous toppings of avocado mash, and there is bacon wrapping around my beef frankfurt. Yes, bacon wrapped sausage! :’) Would happily have this again, though I would like some melty cheese on top! I didn’t get to try the other hot dogs but everyone seemed content. Oh and they have $1 hot dogs on Tuesday, no joke! Wednesday nights are Pulp Fiction nights :D

Loooooveee itttt! If u wanna get a chilli night with a live-band ... have to go!!!!! One of the nicest pub that I ever been in Sydney so far🤙.. and if you are a hot dog lover .. try them there!!
A. B.
Fun! Great vibe for a Fri or Sat night with little dancing. Can be a bit overcrowded for properly breaking it down on the dance floor or getting bar service but it’s a super fun bar.
K. C. G.
Good food and good ambiance as well
r. y.
Awesome bar with great vibe and music. Franky the manager is a legend!
S. J.
Best bar in Sydney, chilled vibe and great workers, always a fun time
M. W.
OMFG! Suck me dry and call me Dusty!
This place is where you go when you die.
My life is complete. We ordered some hot dogs, the Yoko Ono for me and the Johnny Drama for my friend. I also changed the fries to waffle fries.
The soda float was also senfarkensational!
I will return!!!
C.
Usually free entry - great vibe - good cocktails - enough space for both dancing and seating - hidden bar - plays a good mix of hits from the 70s/80s/now - love this place
H. P.
Good food, went on a Tuesday night with dollar hot dogs, which wasn't to bad. Music was abit to loud although it was trivia night so it kinda makes sense.
f.
Awesome venue. Generally great music but it isn't too big so tends to fill up by 11 or so on the weekend . Serves some food and snacks before 10.
S. B.
Great little bar once you get over the smell. When you walk in the door, you’re greeted by a strange sewerage smell.
Get the chicken poppers. They’re delicious.
T. F.
Cheap food and beers, sneaky hidden door took me a sec to work out if I was at the right place, great atmosphere my only con is it’s a little dark to read the menu, yeah I get the mood lighting but a few lumens more would
Work!
J. J.
Really cool bar that hosts tons of recurring events such as Monday Movie Night and $1 hotdogs on Tuesdays. The food is good and the atmosphere is great.
E. B.
A fun place to dance to live music and enjoy cocktails/beer. The entry door is an old Coca-Cola machine so that is pretty cool too.
A. K.
Nice aesthetic and some great drinks (I recommend the soda floats, the icecream is a delicious touch), but as with most places can be nearly impossible to hold a conversation in.
s. k.
Gets too crowded on weekends but really great live music. Go before 9:30 and you should be fine.
U. M.
Was not possible to get in this evening to have a drink and a meal cause of our 9 month old toddler.
Maybe it is prohibited by law here, but we did not get an explanation.
M. B. T.
Best hidden gem in surry Hill.
R. R.
I like this place good beers and fancy got dogs. Live music is a must but it gets way too packed and may not be as enjoyable as it should be
A. M.
Good spot to go with friends, I love the entrance which is a soda machine door. Just know that it is a loud there so not a great place if you'll be talking a lot.
J. K.
Great vibe and cheap hotdogs if you go on the right day! Has a really nicely decorated entrance and plays some classic motown songs to get your groove on!
P. G. d. C. C. d. G.
Great music and atmosphere, it could be the best bar in Sydney. The only, GREAT, problem is their stuff, very unfriendly and even rude (I mean the bouncers and security)
D. R.
Great music, food and cocktails. One of the best live venues in Sydney
M. M.
Very very nice and hide bar! Good music and beer.
P. J.
Very cool
A. E. S.
Good music, nice place for a drink
N. K.
Great place to hang around after work...n nice hot dogs..
A. G.
At Tuesdays this is my favorite location in Sydney.
Nice ambient, nice music and the best thing: Hotdogs for 1$!! (Only Tuesdays)
Kinda a hidden gem - I love it!
J. K.
Get there on a Tuesday for Dollar Dogs. That's right, gourmet hot dogs for $1! Usual price is $10, so it's gotta be a good deal. The entrance is a little bit wow.
R. L.
I've been hear once and had a great negroni plus listened to an awesome funk band so all around a great time
H. G. I. :. H.
I love it, not too big but very fun, I just hope its more crowded after 1, but overall drinks etc very nice
J. E.
We ended up here a bit randomly and I’m so so happy about it. I discovered an amazing place. It was Friday so a band was playing live music.
A. D.
I came here on a Monday night. They had $10 hotdogs and movie night.
I found that they had an excellent set up for this! I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place.
R. V.
Possibly my favourite place to hang out on a weekday or weekend if I'm in the mood for some dance. Theirs always good vibes at Soda
A. C.
The place is quite small and the ambience is ok. Even though they have $1 hot dogs it still doesn't make up for the lack I seating area and slow service.
C. C.
Came here for a quick drink and something to eat, and was impressed with the solid range of decent, interesting beers and foods. Hot dogs are the specialty here, and there's something for everyone
D. L.
Great vibe and a good range of cocktails to try out.
C. B.
yes Friday nights off choppiez
K. M.
Great bar selection, fun atmosphere. Staff are nice and friendly. Highly recommended.
M. L.
Drinks were delicious. Very cool speakeasy theme going on but it was way too loud. Hard to speak to friends.
J. W.
Very fancy place. Good wines, music, service. If you want to enjoy a special night... just go for it!
M. M.
Amazing place, good music and also good price!
K. L.
Such a cool spot, we were there on movie night so it was pretty chill so would love to go back on a Friday night. Would defs recommend for a bevvy!
H. F.
Come for the discount chicken wings
Stay for the music so loud you can't order
Leave when it's so busy you can't raise your elbows (which is always)
This place is one of my favourite spots, but it's always packed during peak hours :(
N. S.
Have been there 2 times. This is a good place to have few drinks chill out while watching a movie.I didn't had anything much on food part just burger & wine so cannot review about everything but yes their service is all okay, no complaints.Haha for me honestly what kept me busy were those words on their walls, not to mention those images inside the washrooms.Lol so yeah,I wrote mine as a Single visitor.Anyways,Experience may vary if you have a gf/bf or going as a couple or with friends(have good time👍).
A. N. G.
OMG! Loved it... live music... great food... was so much fun and the environment was just energy without the pill!
I. C.
Venue is great, and the ambience is on point. I would recommend the wings and hot dogs here.
A. P.
Had a good experience with decently tasty burgers and a wide variety of drinks to chose from. The ambience was great!
A. S.
Head down on a tuesday for dollar dogs! Place gets pretty packed so head down early and smash some dogs!!!!!! Has an awesome vibe on the inside, the whole soda factory door at the front just tops it off!
T. T.
Nice house beers, as well as pretty good pub food. Atmosphere is one of the greatest things inside the venue.
S. C.
Favourite bar in Sydney with Movie Mondays, Dollar Dog Tuesdays, Trivia, Live Music and more! Great feeling and vibe.
M. R.
Amazing place!!! On Tuesdays they do $1 hot dogs which were amazing with great live music and cocktails
L. T.
Great old school club playing nostalgic beats on a Friday night. Good vibes and decent range of drinks served at the bar.
R. B.
Cool vibes, great live band. Although I had make your own milkshake and it sucked, a lot.
L. C.
Love this place. Good music, good atmosphere. Secret entrance. Burgers and hot dogs.
C. S.
Love this place especially when they have themed nights. The staff are super friendly. It can reach capacity very quickly so get in early to avoid disappointment!!
C. H.
Great food and fun, funky atmosphere that would have been even better had we gotten there a little later
C. L.
The hot dogs and boozy soda floats were delicious. Great atmosphere - even my 78yo Dad loved it!
C. W.
Such an awesome vibing place! Great music, cool food and just a well set up little bar!
M. V. G.
Sunday nights here are my favourite. Live music and $5 sides. Delicious, quirky, and really cool atmosphere.
T. A.
It was a great experience. The place was filled with amazing music and vibe.
R. D.
Food, Cocktails and Staff that cannot be faulted. Themed nights that are well thought out and done. A must for anyone going out in Sydney.
I. N.
Food was absolutely amazing! 10/10. Understaffed, movie kept freezing and charged a $1.33 surcharge even though spent $80
