Comments of Gondola Gondola
K. W.
Gondola Gondola is a little Vietnamese eatery on Peel street. It's quite cosy and squishy at most seats unless you get the larger tables in the middle. They happily accommodated us without a booking on a Friday night.
The quality of food was nice with a somewhat limited range. It's quite expensive for what the food is and what is on offer. It's noticeable they're trying with the design and delivery of food but it doesn't quite stack up.
Service in our experience was quick and polite and friendly - offering suggestions for the different menu items to try.
The cocktails are stupidly overpriced for the sizes. All in all it was OK but not somewhere I'd be rushing to tell people about.

Closing our staycation in the city at this place and they did not disappoint 🤍. Food were very tasty, not too strong, not too subtle, just right 👌🏼. Mango Soda was delightful as well.. What a way to end the night.. 🥰

Sydney prices in the heart of Adelaide!
Before a show, two of us went to GG for dinner. Friendly service and fresh vibe with modern decor. I’d skip the dumplings and the eggplant was delicious and a giant serve that’s best suited to more than two people. The standout for us was the quail - delicious!
J. h.
Me and my partner enjoyed the food it was really tasty and fresh. I think it was very expensive for Vietnamese food which is generally very inexpensive everywhere else. I do understand that it is in the centre of Adelaide so I do expect to pay a premium price. Staff were busy consuming drinks behind the bar and having personal conversations rather than looking after the customers. Our table wasn’t cleaned in between courses. Could have been wiped over as it was a bit messy. If I was eating Vietnamese food on Hanson Road and spending less than $50 for our dinner I would not complain but when you spend $160 you do expect a little better service from the bar and waiting staff. Did not seem very professional for the money they charge. They did get the most important thing right. The food was really good.

Amazing food. Definitely worth a visit for lunch or dinner
A. B.
Went here on a Saturday night, they don't take bookings for 2 people so just go there early and grab a table. I liked the vibe and some of the food, but unfortunately they forgot one of our starters and we had to ask for it multiple times, and our drink orders were forgotten too. Possibly under-staffed in the bar? Cocktails we're delicious once we got them tho!!
Overall cool place and would return although order differently. The salt and pepper eggplant was delicious but would not re-order the papaya salad (not kick to it) or the vegetarian egg pancake (no flavour). I think the food is possibly better for carnivores!
B. H.
Great vibe love the design location and just the overall experience and the authentic + fusion contemporary cuisine is a must try. Highly recommended hope the photos do justice.
J. D.
Great staff, food was fresh and tasty and generous amount. Music bit loud. Will recommend this place for sure.
B. A.
Good food. Not many GF options, good for a chat and a bit to eat

Cozy restaurant at the corner of Peel and Hindley Street. Pork belly, quail and papaya salad for entrée. Quail was very flavoursome. Papaya salad wasn’t authentic, not sour at all and had no kick. Pork belly was crispy skinned and paired well with its sauce. Had the duck and ribs for main. Meat for both were tender and yummy. Ribs could use with more sauce. The mango cocktail jar was so small for a serving for two. Overall, would rate it overpriced for the portions and flavours we are getting.

Atmosphere: 10/10
Staff: 9/10
Food: 8/10
Overall Experience: 9/10 (a 5 star Google Review)
Arrived 12:47
Ordered 12:53
Food arrived 1:10
Dish: crispy pork belly
The staff were welcoming and friendly as I walked in looking rather clueless - their signage made it easy to understand where to go for food in this unconventionally layed out establishment. I was instantly made to feel welcome.
Staff are knowledgeable on the dishes and will happily describe anything you might experience confusion with. This is not a place to feel afraid to ask questions.
My meal, a freshly prepared crispy pork belly, arrived in 17 minutes from the time of order. It landed on my table hot and, living up to its name, crispy! Additional cutlery were provided in the event of any chopstick ineptitude which I am certain, again, will put an anxious customer at ease.
A great place for people who might want a delicious, quiet lunch; though I can imagine with the high ceilings and open kitchen that it can get quite loud on a busy evening.
The entire time I was made to feel welcome and comfortable; the staff were extremely hospitable and polite, and everything about this warm and inviting place was a pleasure.
I highly recommend Gondola Gondola.

Great staff, food was fresh and tasty and generous amount. Music bit loud. Will recommend this place for sure.

Delicious fusion Asian meet western food. Restaurant is quite big and decorated very well. A modern ambience with street food stalls as in Asian market as the theme. Food is delicious and deliver as expected. It is cooked well and has the eight balance of flavour which is important in Asian cuisine. Definitely will be back!

One night in Adelaide and so glad this place was recommended to me. Fantastic cocktail - try the Miss Vera - and wonderful food beautifully presented and fun atmosphere
R. R.
A great hangout spot in Adelaide CBD. Lovely interior with great customer service. The food however wasn't for die for even though the food presentation was on point!
B. A.
Good food. Not many GF options, good for a chat and a bit to eat

Personally my favourite restaurant in Adelaide. With a consensus among all that I've dined there with that the Salt and Pepper eggplant is possibly the single best food that they have ever eaten. Good variety on both the food and drinks menu means theres something for everyone, paired with the great service Gondola Gondola becomes the perfect place for any occasion whether it be a casual lunch or more formal celebration.
N. M.
This place is popular! Checked it out because multiple people recommended it.
The description of the dishes indicate that the are designed to be shared in a group and the portion sizes match that.
Roast pork was fantastic, great crackling on it. Could have used more chilli in it if I were to nitpick.
Some off the beaten track Japanese and other Asian beers as well on the menu.
M. M.
Totally enjoyable Vietnamese. We shared an entree & 3 mains and each dish was delectable. We had the squid - crunchy outside & tender inside, the Pork Bun Cha, just melt in your mouth amazing & Pan Dan Chicken- such a beautiful smoky flavour. Small but ample wine selection. Attentive & knowledgeable staff, Unique space, not too loud, great music, Will return.

Had a reservation for 5 people for dinner on Saturday 29 May 2021 at 9pm. Food was decent, service was good for a Saturday night. However, I've just now (Sunday 30 May) realized that our party was over charged. Upon going through the tax invoice, I can see you have been charged for food and beverage which wasn't ordered. Silly me for not checking the bill thoroughly before paying, but I guess you don't think too clearly at 10:30-11pm.
What should have been a bill of approximately $360.00, turned out to be $598.00. Looking at the time stamp on the bill, it looks like the tab was opened at 6:34pm...? 2.5hr hours before our party arrived. I guess I payed for the last sittings dinner as well.
Needless to say, not happy about the situation and definitely won't be coming back. Don't make the same mistake, DOUBLE/TRIPLE check your bill!
E. M.
Came in with my family who are quite picky eaters. Food was phenomenal. Our favourites were the Young Tiger (prawns rolled in green rice) and the Chargrilled Wagyu! Staff were super fast, friendly, and accommodating. Try the cocktails if you come here! The Good Morning Vietnam is a must have.
M. D.
Food was fantastic, atmosphere great but. 90 min sitting is just not long enough for a 3 course meal for the price you pay. Would be nice to enjoy a break between courses, Instead as food was delivered by wait staff we were reminded how long we had left. "Here's your fish, and just letting you know you have 20 mins to finish before the next group comes in".
Wish the service matched the food. Will think twice before we come back
l.
We had the ‘feed me’ banquet for 4. Absolutely every bit it every meal was absolutely delicious. They young ladies who served us were fantastic and even took a photo for us. Staff seem really happy to be there.
R. H.
Three of us were walk-ins on a Tuesday for a birthday dinner. Despite being really busy the waiting staff got straight to setting us up with a table. We waited about 10 minutes for water and a drinks order to be taken but we didn't mind - the restaurant had a lively atmosphere and comfortable booths. The starters actually came out very promptly with our wine. The Other Wine Co Pinot Gris went well paired with Vietnamese food but a Grüner Veltliner on their list would do wonders. We had Veggie Crisps, Chicken Dumplings, Chicken Pandan, Squid, and No-Noodz Pad Thai; adequately portioned and full of flavour - all sensational. All up we were there for 1.5 hours and the restaurant was full (though we could have rushed and made ~1 hour sitting), so they're certainly set up in an efficient way. Highly recommended and we will be back 👏
M. P.
We got the "Feed Me" banquet and it was great. They even ask if you have allergies which is 💯. Food tastes really good. Loved the papaya salad, gyoza, barramundi and chicken (like bbq chicken with salad greens). It was my first time going here but will def come back.
N. W.
The food was very nice. We had the "feed me" menu, and the amount of food that came out was impressive. They were also able to cater to a vegetarian amongst the group quite easily. The only downside was the noise. The restaurant was pretty much full, and the music was quite loud, so it was pretty hard to have a conversation with everyone at the table.
A.
Fantastic food and excellent service. The staff are so friendly and accomodating. Highly recommend the salt and pepper eggplant. The cocktails are delicious!
J. A.
Amazing vego food with really generous serving sizes. The staff were super lovely and welcoming, going above and beyond to make sure we had a great night. Would happily return!
T. A.
Great food and really tasty dishes. FOH staff seem to be a little either stressed out or distracted - asked for a drink menu, never got one, took one from another table for my waiter to never return to take my order. Mains arrived while still eating entree, then main plates were never cleared and weren’t told about dessert. It’s the little things!
K. R.
Fantastic access via either Peel Street or Hindley Street
Food and drink a little over priced but both delicious
Funky and good location
Great for people watching 👌
M. M.
Great food!! Amazing and very friendly staff. Food came out quickly, was so fresh, so tasty, nothing like it in Adelaide. Great vibe ans best cocktail I've had in ages.
E. R.
Not what I expected given the prices.
Not strictly Vietnamese but Asian fusion
A lot of similar restaurants in the area are cheaper and better quality food which is more authentic.
Cocktails were waaay overpriced for the size/value
Service was good until they got busy
Chicken and corn dumplings were good and Pandan Chicken main was yummy
Desert was over priced
G. L.
Great atmosphere, nice service and excellent chefs. Pad Thai was big and well presented.
P. Q.
Amazing food& wine, awesome service and impressive restaurant decorations. I would love to spend every weekend here.
u.
Good quality food, great location.
J. C. L.
Nice atmosphere, good service. Food is delicious! We ordered the pork belly with rice noodles and it was fantastic! We asked for not spice and it was nice mild but still very tasty. Highly recommend!
D. W.
Excellent food, great menu, great service. They DO split the bill into even portions.....despite what Confuscius says!! A little too noisy.
E. M.
Every dish is spectacular. I cannot stop eating here or recommending it highly enough. My favourite item is still the salt & pepper eggplant, which is always a side dish to whatever else I'm enjoying.
Fun, comfortable, trendy location and fit-out. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I've hosted a birthday group here once and the staff were all extremely helpful.
The banquet is also extremely good with that being my dining experience preference as the food is on point and the value for money cannot be ignored.
I look forward to continuing our culinary friendship!
B. L.
Not going to lie, I wish I could give this place a 6 stars. Ive been here twice now and they continue to blow my tastebuds away. Meat was sublime, soft and fall off the bone. Staff are always friendly, sat down and spoke with us and because our friend used to work their gave us free drinks! If you look around all the other customers have vibing - otherworldly atmosphere. Would recommend this place for an fancy intimate small group gather (price to taste value is 10/10) 🔥🔥🔥
M. W.
Great food 😋 & reasonably priced
E. B.
The food here is amazingly delicious. Very impressed, we ordered a variety of dishes and then had to fight over which one was the best (salt and pepper eggplant ftw). Great cocktails as well.
J. H.
We were 45 minutes late (which was terrible of us....I know) but the staff were so lovely, managed to still make our booking work and gave us an amazing night filled with delicious food!!
C. M.
Incredible food and service. Will be back for the prawns!!
M. R.
Great food and service. I’m giving 4 starts because of the huge amount of smoke inside the place. Even my eyes got irritated, and my friends and I left smelling like an actual bbq grill. Yes! It’s that bad. Please install exhaust fans as all other restaurants in the world. Thanks!
R. F.
Amazing food the starters were all fresh and flavoursome and the most amazing ribs in Australia. 5 stars
S. J.
Gondola Gondola has the best salt and pepper eggplant I have ever tasted. It is cooked beautifully and is not too fried or too salty. The other dishes are also great. Yet to have a dish I have not loved here.
I. W.
Quirky Vietnamese inspired eatery in central Adelaide
Tucked away in a side lane with an alfresco and an indoor section.
Indoors the music is a bit loud for me - outdoors has the advantage of street musicians nearby.
Sort of bar cum restaurant mix.
When we went the wait staff seemed a lit inexperienced and our waiter was a bit panicked by our request to eat outdoors and had to consult with other staff (even though place was pretty much empty).
My colleague had vegetarian Pat Thai which was a bit bland. I opted for the special of the day a sliced lamb dish with an accompanying salsa and shooter.
Nice but expensive.
Hard to give you a comprehensive review as been only once but seems to me to be more a light bite and drink joint rather than a serious restaurant
J. B.
Superb food set in a unique venue with a great atmosphere. I had the salt and pepper eggplant with a glass of red and experienced the heights of what it must be like to live in a hedonistic dreamland of culinary ecstasy. Would recommend to anyone seeking a quality evening and the best of Adelaide's bar and restaurant scene.
T. M.
Great Barramundi with asian salad. There are so many great options on this menu. I am coming back.
A.
Have been coming here since they opened. Annie, Tuoi and the team always provide an excellent dining experience! Tastiest and crispiest salt and pepper eggplant I've had so far.
K. J.
Surprising and entertaining. Deduct one star because the Pad Thai is too sweet, deduct another star because the Crispy Squid is in the 'large' section of the menu but is actually a small meal. Add one star for having the *dark* variety of Asahi (beer).
A. H.
People complain about the service but we turned up at nearly nine pm to find the place packed. The staff told us we could sit at the bar and then still manged to find us a table, take our order and bring out delicious food within half an hour. Some people are just whiners..
S. D.
Awesome Asian fusion in a hip little restaurant. Portions are huge and I couldn't finish my beef ribs. Very funky atmosphere with a hip crowd and good music.
J. S.
Small menu.. done very very well. Been here a few times now never disappointed. If you like japenese beer and sake especially Japanese whisky.. You can't go wrong. Can get really busy on weekends
H. K.
Last night in Adelaide, noticed the micro bar / restaurant!
OMG, the best and my most favourite restaurant in Adelaide City!
Modern Vietnamese and Thai food!
What you pay is what you get, quality food, 5/5 stars!
Ordered the quail, full of flavour, and tender!
The barramundi, wow, super tasty even the padthai yum!
The staff was was exceptional!
The atmosphere was great!
Whole experience is a must if you come and visit Adelaide city!
T. W.
Great food and atmosphere.
Unfortunate that the banquet option isn't available for less than 4 diners.
Never sits well being told how long you've been allocated to dine as you are seated because this always depends on service.
C.
Delicious. Salt and pepper eggplant. Rice noodle salad... can be a bit loud but it's all a part of the experience.
C. R.
Great food and really thoughtful staff asking us older people if we wanted somewhere a bit quieter with better seats! Loved it
J. P.
You just need to try the banquet menu, it's the perfect amount of food and the flavours are amazing! I have only been here once but will definitely be back with some more friends.
M. H.
Absolutely fantastic food service and good sized portions. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend.
M. L.

Amazing food! Friendly service, great music, awesome atmosphere. Love it! Would definitely come again 10/10
s.
THE best Asian restaurant for fans of Asian cuisine in the Adelaide CBD. “Fusion” became an ugly word in food post 90s, but Gondola Gondola has made Pan Asian cuisine perfect. Traditional Vietnamese dishes with techniques borrowed from all over the continent, yet to leave Gondola dissatisfied or hungry.
S. H.
If I could rate more stars I would give them double if not triple the amount. Can not rate this place enough. The service was amazing beautiful people and the food WOWWWWW is an under statement the best food I have ever eaten ✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴✴
