The food and vibe of the place was good! Firstly we ordered the pork knuckle. It was pretty good, but the crackling was more chewy than crispy. Some parts were on the dryer side, but it was fine with the side of gravy. We also ordered the bratwurst sausages. These were delicious! Lastly, we ordered a local beer paddle. This was a good way to try all the local beers from the region. They also offer a German beer paddle. The only negative was that we found it extremely difficult to get the attention of a staff member to take our order. This could possibly be due to where we were seated (right at the back in the corner) or they may have been very busy. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and we had a lot of fun!

Lovely lunch experience. Spent the day in Hahndorf and decided to have lunch at the inn. The service is lovely with the staff constantly checking to make sure we had everything we need. The beers on tap are wonderful ( the peanut butter stout is insanely good) We ordered the $105 sharing platter and it was worth every cent. It's a great way to try many of the foods on offer. Ended with the apple strudel which is made in store and is yummy.

Been there on a Wednesday evening hence wasn't that busy, we were offered to sit as we liked and chose the side yard. Schnitzels were very nicely done and pretty large as well, their pretzels were the best we tried in Hahndorf anyway. Meals were served relatively quick, overall we enjoyed our time there..

Visiting the Hahndorf Inn, me and my family had the German sausage platter with a side of sweet and regular chips/fries, and it was a lovely dish. The interior itself is also a nice sight, boasting a wooden cabin-like architecture to match its heritage with a Germanic aesthetic. Overall, a nice place to dine in with quality food, and I definitely recommend whether you’re just dining or seeking to try some German-style foods. ❤️

Lovely spot in Hahndorf. A classic German style pub and foods. Simple, authentic and delicious. The beer is one of the best experiences of beer i have ever had. Could not have picked a busier pub to come and have lunch at today, with a rather long line and many tables full the service was incredibly fast from ordering to having our meals within less than 20mins. Hahndorf Inn serves up Hearty German food in a 2-storey 1863 hotel, with exposed stone walls and a wood-panelled ceiling. ❤️: We got the Original Taste of Germany which included a selection of 4 award winning German Butchery wursts, large soft skin pork hock, kassler, mashed potato, sauerkraut, and pretzels. The highlight, though, was the Apple Strudel that came with whipped cream and ice cream. So flakey and delicious!

The crispy pork knuckles is probably the best in Hahndorf, with nice crispy skin and fairly moist meat. You get 2 knuckles instead of one for just an extra $5 which was the perfect portion for 3 of us. The potatoes and jug of gravy that came with it were great accomplishments. The brockwurst was smokey and had a lovely al dente texture. This is a very popular restaurant and the ambience and vibe is very European. In winter it will be even more so with the rustic open fireplaces. Ticks all my boxes and I will be back.

Want a German pub experience only 30 mins from the City of Adelaide? Look no further than this place. Only knock on it is the German beers are quite shoehorned, with only HB featured. But if you are gonna go for a well known authentic brew, then you can't really go wrong with that. Had the pork knuckle and kids mash and snag. Knuckle was enough for 3 people so got good bang for our buck. Also did a tasting paddle of HBs finest. Well worth the visit!

Wow!!! Was expecting a non authentic touristy meal but it was so good! Just like in Munich!! Busy on Easter Saturday but got a table for 2 easy. Band outside entertaining. Very reasonable priced for a huge feed!!!

Had to pay a visit to the beautiful Hahndorf and visited @HahndorfInn for lunch. Duo Wurst Bockwurst, bratwurst, and sauerkraut served with mash potato and mustard gravy I particularly love the sausage that is split down the center. It has a nice char flavour on the outside and is really delicious on the inside. The other sausage has a more intense pork flavour and is good too. Very tasty meal with the flavoursome mustard gravy which takes the sausages to another level, creamy mash, caramelised onions, and sauerkraut which takes the edge of the meatiness. For a dessert I was highly recommended the apple strudel which sells out in no time. Perfect weather in Hahndorf. Went in to try a German Brew. The peanut butter and Chocolate Stout was a winner. You don't taste the peanut butter. Suits me to it's a nice Stout. An old guy who's a local fixture was drinking a Black and Tan. Blending a Stout with a Great Northern midstrength. I bought a round of those and one for the old fella as we perched up to chat with him.

We were there for lunch on a Wednesday during a very busy period. A lovely young girl out front was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. I was so impressed by her service! 👏👏🙌 5 of us, with 3 kids. Originally outside, which was cold that day. Within 5 minutes, we had a seat inside. Overall pretty good! Second time here, we ordered the beef schnitzel and chicken schnitzel, both were tender and delicious! The gravy was yum however the green peppercorn gravy was flavourful and tasty but way too spicy sadly 😢 Otherwise the only issue I had was that the warm pretzel was barely warm and quite dense, not really enjoyable. This was disappointing as my first time here the pretzels were awesome!

I haven't had snitzel in a long time but it didn't come with lemon and my German friend tells me this is unheard of. The food and atmosphere was good but if you're German, lower your expectations a bit. The beers, he tells me, were good! The decor and architecture of the town is really pretty and very German :) Updated edit: (3 star to 4 star) This place is worth a visit if you're passing through. The chef might consider putting lemon on all schnitzels as it was forgotten on every schnitzel dish that came out. The waitress forgot one of our drinks and served the other incorrectly, though she was very lovely. The food was good after a long drive but not my best meal as the crumb was not stuck to the food but rather the meat parceled and a bit soggy and the sauce was cold by the end of the meal. I hope this place thrives going forward but an establishment that cannot take criticism is one which will never grow. Thanks for your response. I agree my star rating was low and I have updated.

Frustrating experience here. The staff didn’t know the menu specials and originally didn’t charge correctly until we pointed out the issue. I ordered and paid for two drinks and a bratwurst, as did our friends on the same table. Their food arrived but ours didn’t. When I asked the waiter he said he’d check- it was on the way. We waited another 30 minutes for food that didn’t arrive, so we gave up and left. The waiter was apologetic.

Meals are quite expensive for pub meals, very noisy due to the hard wood floors. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel with plain gravy but unfortunately by definition it was not a Wiener Schnitzel as it was too thick, it tasted ok but if I go back I would spend my $28 on something else.

My veal schnitzel had a weird flavour in it but other than that everything was good. Prices were expensive but it's a tourist area so I guess exploiting that is to be expected. My wife loved her burger and the beers were good but $15 for 500mL is over the odds and 34.50 for a schnitzel with pork jus is over the top. Staff were good and atmosphere was good.

Went on an impromptu visit to this quaint little town on the outskirts of Adelaide and as always the spring like weather was brilliant, crisp breeze but the sun was shining and as we approached we were greeted by friendly staff and patrons at the Hahndorf Inn. The menu is mouthwatering and it did take us some time to choose as everything sounded so good, but we ended up ordering the light and tasty Flammkuchen (Flammekueche as I remember from Bavaria) and the Schweins Rippchen and a couple of German beers..... Be rude not to! One was a nice 500ml of Hofbrau Maibock which was crisp and refreshing. The food was sensational, ribs fell off the bone and were accompanied by some nice crispy fries. There are some great places to eat in Hahndorf and the Hahndorf Inn is always worth a visit, check them out on your next visit, you won't be disappointed.

But we ordered 300 ml beer, but got served and charged with 500 ml. Might be a communication issue. Overall I would recommend this place if you go to Hahndorf.

We enjoyed a starter plate of mixed wurst with a bretzel and Saurkraut ( everyone loved the saurkraut) which everyone enjoyed.... mains tho were disappointing.... while the chicken was a generous serve it was unseasoned....the whole pork hock was overcooked and also under seasoned and at $49 a serve felt quite ripped off.... the wines we chose were very nice..a reisling and an SA shiraz... the live accordian music and the bells were enjoyable as my dad was once the resident musician at the Old Mill and it bought back some memories....all in all I would stick to a drink and maybe a couple of German sausages next time...

What I really enjoyed the most was the food. The food was in large portions and it was really delicious if you guys came here I would suggest to share unless ur really a big eater. The staff were really kind and helped a lot. They even have a small arcade at the end of the restaurant and have claw machine , racing game and my favorite pinball which was a really old machine.

I have quite mixed feelings about this place. We were warmly greeted and taken to our table but we were probably only there a minute when the male server came up for an order, surely he would have noticed we’d just been seated. He was also about as animated as a rock. If the food had come as fast as the service it would have been great instead we waited for at least half an hour while other groups seemed to have food bought out before us. The pretzels were dry to the point they tasted stale. The Schnitzel however was delicious and the best park of the whole meal. Chips were bland and salad possibly more fit for a rabbit. The atmosphere is really nice despite the food and service. So three stars as was not the worst place I’ve been but not the greatest either

The beeest beef ribs I have had so far in years!!! And maybe it will be for a while. It just had the perfect balance of sweet, salty, heat and bitterness from charring. Meat was so tender. It took me almost 2 hours on bus from Adelaide but surprisingly the journey back was not even an hour. Handorf is a German town with lovely view. It has plenty of variety of unique things to look around. The Handorf restaurant itself is the main attraction, you best book prior to going there via their web page, enjoy succulent original German dish. It is quite pricey expecting around $80-90 dollars per dish but it is soo worth it. Oh you best head back to Adelaide city before 8-9pm cuz even while taking the bus the road back is not lit with light.

This called “Hahndorf Inn Deluxe Platte” and it price is $99.5 and that its really big enough for 4 people. It contains Schweinshaxe, Schnitzel, sausages, Bavarian rissoles, beef ribs, sauerkraut, rotkohl, potato salad, mashed potato, mustard, mushroom sauce and pork jus. Schweinshaxe skin is very churchy and inside of meat is very tender. Sausages are smoked flavor and really juicy. Potato salad is smooth. Another dish can really cut greasy. I’m very recommend this restaurant!

We had the large deluxe platter with pork knuckle, 2 wursts, mash, pretzels, sauerkraut, rissole and potato salad which fed our family of 6 (2 small kids, 2 bigger). Bathroom was clean. Outdoor seating was nice with the large tables. Lovely old style pub atmosphere inside too as we walked through to the loo.

My main gripe is with the accompanying garlic toasts, which tasted like they were taken out of a packet and slightly stale.

3.5 stars. Rounding up because of service. This iconic inn has been serving since the late 19th century, and is probably the most symbolic location to dine at Hahndorf. The decor is very pertinent for the vibe the inn is trying to achieve, and the service is genuinely fantastic. Meals are served with great diversity and I would hence recommend this inn. However, the price feels undesirable. A fee of 133 dollars for three people and two dishes (although they are large) and three drinks seems somewhat expensive. The quality of the food is pleasant and there is authentic German flavors, although the taste itself may be average. There are of course some good dishes and some more mediocre ones, but overall the value may seem relatively poor. That said, the inn does have pleasant vibe and nice service- and food that is largely sufficient in quality. Like what I said previously, I would recommend this restaurant, but I would likely not visit this inn again for the near future as this place still feels like a once-in-a-while experience. It is still, nevertheless, an enjoyable experience.

Really good beer and great service! Sausages were fantastic, so was the Obatzda! However, as a Bavarian, the rest of the food we ordered was ok. The potato salad had no flavour at all, the sauerkraut tasted nice but was a bit dry; but, what didn’t really cut it for me was the English mustard instead of German mustard, and the pretzels were not fresh that was a big fail (we Germans love our bread) ... therefore 3 stars

Waited for a long time for our meal to arrive. When it did, it didn't come with cutlery and we were told to get it from the bar. Went to the bar and was told that they bring it to the table. Eventually our cutlery arrived and we managed to enjoy our meal. I understand that it was a public holiday and it was busy but there was no consistency in the service given to us and the surrounding tables. It was disappointing as we've had better times in the past.

We were greeted by the friendliest and most helpful server Edith. She apologized that inside was fully booked but offered an outside table. When I went inside to order the staff couldn't have been more helpful with knowing the menu completely as well as beer matches and suggestions. We ordered a fantastic platter and the three adults were FULL. When the waitstaff came to take our plates we were never pressured into deserts or coffee like so many other places but were not pushed to leave either. Whoever's training and managing the staff are doing an excellent job. Well done to all of the staff, you should all be very proud of your efforts. It has been noticed and appreciated.

Overall, The Hahndorf Inn is a very pleasant place to dine at. The food and atmosphere created this aura where you feel like your dining in the historical streets of Berlin. We ordered dishes of various meats in which all were cooked perfectly, however The Crispy Pork Belly dish was over complemented with bitter red cabbage, and we felt that the meat to fat ratio was inconsistent. Furthermore, the staff was very friendly and I highly recommend the Hahndorf Inn for a traditional German meal.

Had a great lunch of Pork knuckle , sauerkraut and potato salad. The pork knuckle was crispy and sauerkraut was delicate with a traditional flavour. My wife enjoyed the weiner schnitzel with chips and side salad. Both meals are of generous size and you can grab a doggie bag and take home any leftovers. We had enough for dinner as well.

Love this place. Amazing food and service. This is a family friendly restaurant. The "Taste of German" platter has so much food to share around. There are 4 sausages on the platter - Vienna, Bockwurst, Bratwurst & Cheese Kransky. There is also a smoked Kassler chop and Eisbein pork hock with mashed potato, sauerkraut, red wine gravy, mustard and 2x fresh baked Bavarian pretzels. I highly recommend upgrading the Eisbein pork hock to the crispy pork hock for extra $20 and enjoy the crunch. This platter serves 2-4 people. If you like wings, don't forget to order the BBQ or Spicy Wings. Each serve comes with 6 wings. And don't forget to enjoy your meal with your favourite German beer.

We went here for a birthday celebration. The new renovations look great and the food is amazing good. Lots of the sharing plates are popular. Most sharing plates are for 2-4 or 4-6. From what I have been told the two to four does need at least three people as they actually put a lot of food on the plate. We had a beer sampling that was delicious. Definitely need a booking for Sunday's. Recommend you order quickly as food does take some time. But it is well worth the wait. They mostly concrete on entrees and mains and beer. They have a small selection of dessert. We could not fit in dessert after the mains. Would love for a visit back. Don't recommend Vegetarians or Vegans to go. Don't recall much to pick from other then wedges and salad. I highly recommend to give them a go.
