Hands down the best seafood restaurant we have tried in a long time. To start with, highly recommend the seafood chowder followed by Cataplana seafood dish for mains and finishing off with a wonderful dessert called Pudim Flan similar to a creme caramel just more delightful. Customer service and ambience were outstanding. The window seat with a view to the ocean and complimentary Portuguese ports by the owner topped the evening off. Definitely be back!!!!

A first time experience for my partner and I. Wow!!!! From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was captivating from the ocean views to the buzz of the restaurant. The staff/management were attentive and orders taken with efficiency and on a night the restaurant was full. If you love seafood and the sea this is the place to be! The barramundi fell apart , prawns were crunchy, squid melted in my mouth! Inviting menu. Superb wines and cocktails. From now on this is our new to go to venue! The owner has done an exceptional job here!

Absolutely fabulous food, service and view. All 4 of us including a Vegan rated the food of a high standard. Entree/Starters, mains & deserts were all absolutely delicious. The service was amazing, very attentive making sure everything was okay and always checking to see if you need more drinks. Service was average we were seated and told would be back soon to order and I had to call a waitress after a 20 min wait to which she looked put out, food also very average and extremely expensive for what we were served. Had the seafood platter $150 was hoping for beautiful fresh seafood as its on the beach and read good reviews but it was not fresh and very bland/deep fried, miss matched flavours. Beautiful location but if you want local fresh seafood it’s not the place.

Great views and good selection of mainly seafood dishes but also tapas. Mains are pricier as expected for seafood; but I had a great seafood chowder for $15 which was listed as a starter but was plenty for lunch. Lots to do in this area so great as a day trip from Adelaide.

Went here for a special birthday including 5 children aged between 1 1/2 and 12. Kids food came out nice and quickly, which was great, but then had an hours wait for the adults mains, by which time the kids had finished their meals and were very restless, meaning the adults lunch was not relaxing in the slightest. We had to take turns entertaining the kids, so therefore took turns in eating. The whole process threw out our timing for the rest of the day and the plans we had in place. Food was nice, but $35.50 for, what ended up being, quite a basic fish and chips was a bit pricey. Would be good for a small group, but not recommended for larger family groups.

Best customer service that I have received in a long time. From the lady who took our booking over the phone, to the greeting when we arrived and when I changed my order after 10 minutes (someone else's looked too good) they did what they could to make it possible. Portuguese/ South America fusion cuisine. Awesome customer service the owner was there to welcome us and it was very helpful explaining the menu. Lots of fish options and I love it! I had cod cakes for appetizers and my little girl love it! For main I had "moqueca" and it was delicious coconut sauce over a generous portion of barramundi and rice. My husband had the lamb shanks and it was fantastic too!! The deserts were very good too with lots of gluten free or dairy free options. The main courses are about 30 to 35 dollars and appetizers 14....not your pub food experience certainly more on the higher end with fresh food and great service.

Hortas Restaurant certainly enjoys a fabulous location overlooking Southport beach and the Port Noarlunga Jetty, no doubt about that. But my first dining experience here was lack lustre in several aspects. Despite the inviting menu, ample wine and drink selection and a view of the sunset, these elements were somewhat dimmed by the din of diners in the room. It can be hard to enjoy an insightful conversation with a full dining room, with anyone besides the person next to you. The wait staff seemed plentiful and attentive but they had to keep a brave face while placating our table as the food service was exceptionally slow. The various dishes brought to our table were generally of very high quality but it really was spoiled by such a long wait. I do have to mention that the dessert selection was a tantalizing read, in the end it seemed that the chocolate pudding was the outstanding choice. It was just a shame that our dinner venture ended up over 3 hours in the end.

Beautiful Venue, service is usually amazing although we went a little later than normal this time and had to keep flagging down staff for basics like butter for the bread, another wine, pepper etc. (It seemed like it was after the owner/manager left) Beef was a little undercooked and chewy but the flavour compensated that's for sure! The would be the best seafood I have eaten in ages. The service was great with the owner Phillip Hortas chatting away to us and other patrons. The food was impeccable with every dish amazing and great to enjoy this all while sitting on the deck overlooking the jetty and beach. A must place to dine if you are heading to the southern beaches of Adelaide. 5 stars all around. Look forward to heading back again.

Had a fantastic lunch, we booked and had a table overlooking the beach which was stunning as the weather was perfect. The owner showed us to our table gave us our menus and told us he will organise our drinks. The staff were extremely friendly and were very efficient. The menu is excellent with a good range of dishes and the ones we ordered were large, very tasty and well presented. The desserts are certainly a highlight, overall great place to go for high quality food great staff and stunning views.

Me and my family have eaten at Hortas a number of times and without fail have always received great service. The team are always friendly and accommodating and the food is almost always delicious! Today I ordered the Roasted Pumpkin and Lentil Salad and it was very tasty. The only downside would be the serving was quite small, like a entree serving size and for near $30 I expected more for my buck. All in all, its always a good experience with great views, service and food.

Wow. Well worth dining there. We showed up without a booking, on the Australia Day long weekend and it was packed... but the owner (who glides around greeting guests, addressing issues and keeping an eye on things) is so passionate he organised us a table and made us at ease. Service was spot on from the attentive waitress, wait time was short, food proportions were generous and the food was delicous. We got sat at the back, which on the plus side was quiet, but the down side is we didnt get to enjoy the spectacular view. Next time I'll ring first. :)

I've been here several times & always enjoy the experience, the food, wine & service generally of a high order, though on occasion the service a little off beat. The view of the beach, the water & jetty is wonderful & never disappoints whether seated inside or out. The owner is a good host, the establishment a good ambience. If you're looking for a fantastic seafood experience, this is the place to be. Best seafood chowder I've ever had...full stop!!! There are unique Portuguese dishes on the menu that are a must-try: codfish cutlets, cataplana and custard tarts. Last but not least, is the fabulous view of the ocean.

Haven't been for a while so whilst visiting Port L we decided to check out the lunch menu. The place was very full, the service was of its usual high level and we enjoyed the meal as we have every time we visit, so reliable.

Location, location, location is the main thing here, overlooking a sunset beach, such a great spot for a romantic dinner. Food was great, although they don’t really cater for veg/vegan diets (it is seafood restaurant). Wonderful olives and fresh toasty bread. Pipis and mushroom arancini entree followed by roasted pumpkin salad and steak then dessert of frozen granita and Portuguese tarts! Sadly for us, they no longer have cloth napkins and tablecloths (maybe COVID related) and the general vibe was no longer ‘silver service’ being more relaxed, guess that is a matter of choice. Coffee was a bit nasty, overheated? Seems they forgot our desserts as we finished our coffee, waited at least 30 minutes and realized the wait staff were packing up and chefs were at the bar chatting. Waiter apologized and desserts arrived a little while later but the Portuguese tarts were cold inside 😟 Still, I would highly recommend the place as a nice place for dinner! View from our table!

An amazing setting. Your are absolute beach front, but seemingly protected by the elements. A beautiful restaurant, with full table service and staff over accommodating. The freshest of seafood was on offer and we feasted on fresh oysters, traditional Portuguese Tappas and AN AMAZING Seafood platter. We were also lucky to have attended in the summer where they have a beach bar and DJ downstairs on sea level so moved out side for desert and to enjoy the crowd. Yet again staff accommodating the move and nothing was a fuss. Will go back in a heartbeat. Another great experience and Philipe the owner gave the whole experience a personal touch which is rare these days.
