Exceptional service and food was amazing. Kids meals come with carrot sticks and celery (seasonal) all very healthy which is great! Very accommodating to my dad with a walker. Our setting was amazing and the whole experience top notch. Book ahead its very busy for a reason!

It started all so well with the pate' and the cured salmon, but then with each dish that came out after the disappointment grew. The crispy pork skin was extremely tough, where we gave up trying to cut through it. We didn't finish the lamb as it was very salty. Finally the dessert seemed like they just wanted it to be over with strawberries and a scoop of mascarpone on top. Would recommend ala care rather than 'feed me'.

The perfect evening. Table for 2 on a Sat night. Service was polite, efficient, and pleasant and good natured. But the food was the star. Entrees were superb, the gnudi was chunky and filled with flavour. The duck dumplings the same, bursting with big chunks of very flavourful duck. We had the chateaubriand for mains and this was an exquisite, melt-in-the-mouth cut of beef. The dessert crumble didn't disappoint with strong flavours of various spices. Every dish tasted fresh and of top notch ingredients. The atmosphere overall was classy but fun and relaxed.

This was the first time I'd come for a meal, the outside part of the venue during the day is very nice and the indoor dining area also has the perfect atmosphere. We had the "let us feed you" option and were not disappointed at all. There were a number of memorable courses with the element of surprise making it even better. Left feeling very satisfied and enjoyed an incredible meal. Will return in the future, hope it's just as great then!

Absolutely superb! From the decadent food, to the service and finally the amazing ambience. Located not far from the turn off to hahndorf from the freeway nestled between rolling hills is this very well established but quaint converted cottage and vineyard. The interior of the restaurant has a warm but fanciful feel to it, with a fireplace and tasteful decorations in every room. The exterior is spectacular with a vineyard, a lake and even a few animals to be seen wondering about. Having had three courses I have to say words cannot do them justice; in terms of quality and flavours, you will not find your meal in anyway lacking. As for the staff I have to say it's wonderful being waited by the same waiter for my courses, one who had an eye for detail and was very attentive when we needed as well as polite. All and all I think your biggest disappointment in life may very well be never indulging in the woeful experience that is Maximilians Restaurant.

We had our wedding there last weekend and it was the most perfect venue, with the best service. Our crowd was extremely rowdy and the staff remained smiley and very happy. Melissa the functions manager was also great to deal with in the lead up to the wedding and they catered to everything we requested. 10/10 and would highly recommend this as your wedding venue. The golf was also a hit with our family and friends!

Not too far off the exit to Hahndorf, super easy to find, and the setting of surrounding landscape reminds me of everything I love about SA. The waiter and servers were amazing. The lady that greeted us at the door apparently helped us before starting her shift (we showed up earlier than expected) as the next time I saw her she had changed into uniform. Excellent service all around. The food was fantastic. We both had a couple drinks, a two course meal and amazing service in a great setting for $135. Keep it up guys, looking forward to the next visit.

What a great place. The staff were attentive knowledgeable and got my horrible dad jokes. The food was superb, recommend let the chef choices three course dinner. But the best part was a huge open fire creating a delightful atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Both the food and service were sublime. The menu was superb and the meals were presented beautifully. While you can't eat good looks luckily the flavours and textures were to die for. Wine List was fantastic featuring a huge selection from Sidewood Estate, which would be more than enough, and many others. Service was friendly and welcoming. Could not have asked for any better. Well worth the trip and we will definitely be back.

Visited here briefly on a Saturday. Is set on a very pretty, pleasant property. A restaurant, undercover outdoor area, bar, outdoor seating under trees and umbrellas, and a golf game. This property is a hills icon that has been around as long as l can remember. A little on the pricy side but fairly common for this type of venue these days. Just be aware and double check before arriving if there are any events on that day. My daughter and friends were settled in for the day only to be informed at 2pm everyone had to be gone at 3pm as there was a wedding arriving. Free onsite parking all set on very pretty surroundings.

When we first visited the place for dinner we found the food & staff fantastic and loved the cosy venue that we decided to get married there! We had our ceremony looking over the winery, pre drinks and nibbles while guests hit golf balls and eat & danced the night away. The staff & food was excellent and they made the day so easy. Same same but totally different. Our first experience at Maximillians was on a Sunday. We arrived to a buzzing full house and thought this is a great sign... and we were right. The Duck Liver Parfait, Kangaroo Carpaccio, Squid Ink Risotto and Chateaubriand for two were amazing! But wait there's more.... We enjoyed our lunch so much, we rebooked for dinner two weeks later. One thing that struck us as odd was that the dinner menu was exactly the same as the lunch menu, no variations (perhaps we should have checked first). Altough this was disappointing but having enjoyed our recent lunch so much, we thought let's just order the same thing. The food was completely 'night and day' from our previous experience as though we were dining in a completely different restaurant. The Parfait was dense, Kangaroo overcooked, Squid ink risotto stodgy and the Chateaubriand fatty, tough and not well rested. These dishes should have not left the pass!! Consistency should be a restaurants priority, as you are always remembered for your last meal.

Maximilians was brilliant yesterday. We had 4 kids under 5yo and they were so gracious in their service 😍 We were tucked in an intimate corner where the kids couldn't bother other diners too much, but they also had a great view of the "golf" happening outside. The food was amazing (best pasta I've ever had - it was incredible 😍). And what a beautiful setting, even with spots of rain. The kids loved hunting for stray golf balls (between the vines! Obviously not all the golfers are pros that try the driving range 😉) and watching the geese, cows and.... Emu! Something I noticed, as someone who has worked hospitality - the waitress walked past a napkin that had been dropped near the bathrooms. No hesitation, she picked it up and took it to the bin. It sounds silly to notice, but the amount of staff I've seen over the years that would have walked over it is incredible. What an amazing restaurant 😍 Now to come back here on a date night and try the degustation 😀 Thanks you Maximilans for a brilliant and welcoming lunch 😍

Amazing food in an authentic environment. Sit amongst rolling hills, beautiful views and a cozy open fire or outside on the deck or in the modern enclosed outdoor area. There is a great cellar door and also an aqua golf area... The food is delicious and so perfectly presented. The perfect place for a long, long, long lunch.

Fine dining just up from Balhannah in the hamlet of Verdun. Or just off the freeway on the Hahndorf exit. Beautiful location. Lovely outdoors area and two indoors eating with extensive seating for large volumes of people. Having said that bookings are advised as they still book out. Beware the driveway entry as its a single lane only with limited pull overs to allow thoroughfares. Parking is somewhat limited when it gets busy. Food is very inventive with wonderful flavour combinations. Could be deemed expensive but would on par with other restaurants of similar ilk. Staff are very friendly and accomodating. Recommended for a special day out with a loved one. Cheers, Q.

This place is well worth coming back to over and over again. We shared the Antipasto Board which was filled with beautiful meat, dips, pickles, salad, olives, chicken roulade and pita bread. This was ample for the two of us and priced well at $30. We did also add the shoestring fries which were crunchy and salted just right. Also shared a bottle of Sidewood Rose which went down well with the food. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic location, cellar door and dining experience. 5 stars for service. Both friendly and prompt. Food for presentation, serving size and taste! Wines: Sidewood cider, to the sparkling and 777 pinot noir were all top notch. Location: Short drive from Adelaide plus our table was perfectly situated with views of the surrounds.
